Speaker 1 (00:00):
Eighth nine, Happy Friday one O six pointy seven. Light
of van variety from the eighties through today. Cubby and
Christine in the morning. Yeah, that's our show title. No
Christine this morning, she's under the weather, producer Christin and
I kind of holding down the fort and we have
some help today because let's see, it's eight oh nine,
five oh nine in La joining us on the phone
the big wig at the Cinema Foundation, Harry Medved, our

(00:21):
movie guy. What's up, Harry, Good morning to you, sir.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
Good morning. Well, look, I'm awake here because it's an
incredible weekend, incredible weekend for movie going. I'm excited.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
Yeah, and you know what a great I think weekend
here in the Tri State because although the weather is
getting better here, it's gonna be cloudy at times. It's
not gonna be quite like the eighties NonStop. So it
might be a good weekend for the movies.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
What should we see this weekend? It's not beach weather, right, yeah, Well,
if you aren't, if you want to like little vacation,
but you don't want to go to the beach because
it's not the weather there, you should go see Alilo
and Stitch because it is like taking a trip to Hawaii.
I look, I enjoyed the first one, the animated film. This,
of course, is the Disney Real live action remake of

(01:04):
Lelo and Stitch. I thought it was terrific. I really
did you know? This is the story. It's about this
alien who lands in Hawaii and kind of befriends this
orphaned girl and her older sister and the girl who's
six years old who plays Lelo Maya Kiohola is just
fantastic and the movie is so much fun. Now here's
what this shocker is. It could actually outgross this weekend

(01:28):
top Gun Maverick. It is looking at one hundred and
sixty five million dollars, which is really insane. So why
is this film doing so well? Well? Family friendly? Right,
fun movie? That's exactly what it is, Kubby. I mean,
here's the thing. At the Cinema Foundation in Cinema United,
we look at these stats all the time. Last year,
you didn't have that many family friendly films. Let's just
be honest. This year, at the same time of the year,

(01:51):
you have twice as many PG rated family friendly films.
So these are movies that everyone can see. There's no
cuss words in it. There's no violence or other stuff
that you don't want your kids to see. So I
think Lelo and Stitch is just going to clean up
this weekend. It's going to be crazy. Now. What's interesting
is one of the outer space rulers is played by
the voice of Hannah Wanting Him from Ted Lasso. Of course, whoa.

(02:17):
She's also in Mission Impossible, The Final Reckoning, So I
guess Hannah Wanting Him is going to be the Queen
Wow owner of this weekend because in Mission Impossible The
Final Reckoning, she also plays a like an authority figure
who's trying to stop the end of the world. But
the real story of the film, of course, is Tom Cruise.
And I'll tell you it never gets old watching him
do these absolutely insane stunts. You have never seen things

(02:40):
like he's hanging off the side of a plane, walking
on the wingo plan this and he.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
Never gets old either.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
They did it. He looks pretty good man, he's sixty
three years old. I think this is the eighth movie
of Mission Impossible, right, I mean, there's all he's done
a lot.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
Is it really eight?

Speaker 2 (02:57):
I think there's eight of them. Yeah, it is the
eighth one, and they say it's the Final Reckoning. Yeah, right,
we'll see. You have to see the movie to find out.
I will tell you one thing just to be aware of.
It is two hours and fifty five oho minutes. I'm out,
it's a long movie. Yeah, give me the Lowe's Ditch.
That's that hour and forty.

Speaker 1 (03:18):
Oh that's better.

Speaker 2 (03:20):
But you have a lot better stunts in Mission Impossible
in the final recording, and you want to see it
on the biggest screen available because it is one of
those films. I don't know why people would ever watch
your Mission Impossible movie at home because you just missed
all the actions. There's so much going on, and I'm
telling you there's a whole submarine situation in the film.
You gotta see. It's It's an amazing film. A little
too much exposition for me, but the stunts are just amazing.

(03:42):
So those are the two big movies this weekend. And
then we also have classics coming back to the big
screen all summer long through Fathom Entertainment, Indiana Jones and
The Last Crusade for Father's Day Perfect with Harrison Forida,
Sean Connery's his father, You've got Clueless coming back and
even my brother Michael Medved he's got a move we
called the American Miracle about the early days of our

(04:03):
government and what they call God's hand on America. And
so that's for the faith based crowd, and that's coming
out just before the fourth of July. So there's a
lot of stuff coming up.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
Harry Medved in La, thank you for filling us in.
Sounds like a big weekend at the box office.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
It's gonna be historic.

Speaker 1 (04:20):
It might be a record, all right, we'll see, all right,
have a great weekend, my friend.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
Thank you guys, have a wonderful weekend.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
You did the three hours commercial free to kick off
that workday.
