Speaker 1 (00:00):
Happy Thursday, feeling like a Friday. It's one of six
point seven light a Fmcubby and Christine in the morning,
producer Kristen and yeah, fourth of July weekend kicking in
and it's all fun and games for the most part.
But talk to your dogar cat, Yes exactly. Yes, we
got to talk about protecting your pets because you know,
if you've got a pet that gets freaked out by fireworks,

(00:21):
experts say, these are the things you can do to
keep them safe. And here's what you need to know.
Number one is leave your pet at home. It seems
like the obvious one, right, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
Don't take them to the fireworks display. Right.

Speaker 1 (00:34):
Fireworks displays can be you know, a little disorienting and
frightening to pets, So try to leave them at home.
Do not leave your pet in the car. Cars in
the summer obviously are dangerously hot. There's that, and your
pet can suffer serious health effects, even death in a
few short minutes. I was reading a story like, if
the temperature is eighty five outside, right, which is not

(00:55):
that bad, it can get up to one hundred and
thirty in your car within ten minutes. Your car is
just a big greenhouse.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
That's so scared.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
Yeah, yeah, you can't forget about the pets in the car.
Create a home sanctuary. Leave your pet in an area
of your home where they are safe, comfortable, and sheltered
from any outside noise and lights. An inside room with
no windows maybe best. Pet proof your home when they're scared.
Some animals can become destructive, so be sure to remove

(01:24):
anything that can become damaged or might harm your pet
if chewed. You know, Christine, you and I both have cats,
and they have those freak out moments when they yeah,
either they're really scared and get load of the ground
and going to the bed, or they start like running
up and down the walls and darting back and forth.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
Let me out of here, man, Yeah yeah, yeah. Archie's
under the bed right now, by the way. Yeah, because
we mentioned this earlier that people are already doing like
just random fireworks. So the poor guy, he's like, oh good, Yeah,
he's under the bed and he's just going under there now. Yeah,
Like no, it's okay for Archie.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
Yeah, keep them inside too, which kind of goes back
to leave your pet at home, but it just says,
if you want to protect your pets, leave them inside,
and even in a fence, it says keep them inside.
Even in a fenced yard, panic can lead to a
pet escaping. So that's why you want them inside. Not
really you're thinking, Okay, they're at the house, but they're

(02:18):
fenced in. That could still be bad. And finally, make
sure you have ID on your pet. Make sure that
they're wearing identification. Better yet, make sure they are micro chipped.
In the unfortunate event your pet runs away or gets
freaked out, you know ID is easy to track them down.
But there you go. Keep your pets safe. On the
fourth of July. And then if you have a ring camera.

(02:40):
By the way, I wonder how many of these I'm
gonna get in the next couple of days. Was that
a gunshot?

Speaker 2 (02:45):
I heard? Oh?

Speaker 1 (02:47):
Do you get that on ring?

Speaker 2 (02:49):
Constantly?

Speaker 1 (02:49):
Oh, you don't have ring. So there's like a neighborhood
watch where people can ask questions like, you know, boy,
this rain is bad, blah blah blah, or have you
this dog?

Speaker 2 (03:01):
It's constantly a lost pet? And were those gunshots?

Speaker 1 (03:04):
Were those gunshots? Because it's somebody like in a neighborhood
and a kid is setting off fireworks, So someone instantly thinks, yeah,
is it a gunshot? I get that all the time
on my ring.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
Yeah. I think a truck backfires and gunshots?

Speaker 1 (03:17):
Were those gunshots I heard? Oh guys, relax, all right,
what do you have coming up in the news, Christine.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
Let's check out the headlines? And do we know why
men are usually in charge of the barbecue.

Speaker 1 (03:28):
Mord Covey and Christine coming your way on Light at them.
