Speaker 1 (00:00):
Good morning.

Speaker 2 (00:00):
It is Jack and Christine producer Kristen.

Speaker 1 (00:03):
And look up in the sky, it's Harry medv Harry
Medved our Superman Cinema found Hi Harry, Yes, Harry from
the Cinema Foundation calling in bright and early in beautiful La.
How are you.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
I'm good, but Ellie is missing you. Christine? How you doing? Oh?

Speaker 1 (00:21):
I miss you guys too. I'm okay. You me come out?

Speaker 2 (00:24):
Yes, you're coming.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
Time in the summer, anytime.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
Yeah, she looks like she's she was born with a
surfboard under her arm.

Speaker 1 (00:31):
But you bring a little piece of Hollywood to us
on Fridays and let us know what's new in the theaters.
And I mean, this is a cool summer season that
we're having right now. Superman opening. We're hearing it's already
bringing in a lot of money.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
Yeah, it's already a record. It's it's the biggest preview
opening of the year so far. It's twenty one million dollars.
And it's you know, I represent the movie theaters and
we're just on our role. It's not only are the theaters
investing in themselves for the future. They're spending two point
two billion dollars and upgrading the cinema so they're more exciting.
Better facilities, better screens, better sound, and popcorn buckets. By

(01:05):
the way, there you get popcorn buckets. Yeah, but no,
it's it's exciting that when you actually have movies that
people want to see, and just every weekend there's a
big one. So Superman, I you know, I saw it
last night with a regular audience instead of going to
an advanced screening. I wanted to see what the paying
public thought, and we all loved it. The reviews are actually
pretty good. It's like eighty five percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

(01:25):
I think as much as I loved Lois Lane and
Superman together, I thought the chemistry of Racial Brazenahan and
David corn Sweat who plays Superman, it was terrific, completely
palpable for me. The person who stole the movie, or
the person the being that stole the movie was a dog.
It's like the greatest dog ever.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
I can't wait the dog.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
Seriously, you love the dog.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
Crypto is the dog.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
Yea, Crypto is the dog. He's kind of a mud,
kind of a Schnauzer. But he is based on the
director James Gunn's real life dog that he adopted, who
he said is the worst dog in the world because
he just keeps biting everybody. So that's what this dog,
that's a superhero kind of dog. Yeah, exactly, that's what
you want. It really comes in handy in this movie.
And what I love about the Superman he's so vulnerable.

(02:08):
You know, the very beginning of the movie starts right
in the middle of the action where he's actually lost
a battle. I'm not giving anything it this is the
first minute of the film. But where the dog, You've
seen it in the trailer. The dog pulls him to safety.
But Superman is knocked around quite a bit in this movie,
so you gotta be prepared for that. One thing, Christine,
you would love knowing you is that this is really
about a guy who's a force of good, who is

(02:29):
just dedicated to the goodness of mankind. Oh and it's
kind of almost punk rock, as he says it, it's
like people aren't like that these days. He's just it's
a throwback to the nineteen seventy eight Christopher Reeves Superman.
So you like that movie, I think you'll like this
new Superman.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
We're going, We are definitely going. And so if we're
if we need to catch up a little bit. F
one Jurassic.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
Oh yeah, and the acts a lot of dinosaur action
and a lot of fun. But F one's terrific. You know,
it's if you likes top Gun Maverick. People are calling
this top Gun Maverick on wheels because it's pretty much
the same story from the same director and the same
producer with an aging pilot, in this case, a driver
who is a maverick who comes back to his sport
and mentors a whole bunch of young hotshots. And that's

(03:13):
that's one. Instead of Tom Cruise is Brad Pitt. But
it is terrific fun. Yeah, you'll take Brad turned on.
But the action is just terrific, and it's just never
lets up. For like two and a half hours. You
were constantly on the edge of your seat because actually
shot at F one Races, where you know, I took
my father in law, who I think is eighty years
old now and he doesn't like movies that were there

(03:34):
is too much talking that he smile on his fa
Oh it was his kind of movie. Man. I'm just one,
isn't it.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
I mean, even Tag Howard is back.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
I mean, that's that's its huge now, So it is,
and it's really well the cinema. And finally, if you
want a classic, this weekend from Fathom Entertainment, which I
also work for, they're bringing back One Flew Over the
Cuckoo's Nest Believed it or not, the fiftieth anniversary Wow,
Jack Nicholson, Danny DeVito, produced by Michael Douglas. It's been
a pleasure for me to work with the team, not

(04:06):
with Nicholson, but with Douglas and the Davido who met
on that film of course and worked to the other
many overs later. And of course Christopher Lloyd was in there.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
Yeah, that's where Danny and Christopher Lloyd met.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
So hold on to your heart together if you go.

Speaker 2 (04:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:19):
If people aren't familiar with the story, you know.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
Think that was amazing. So the first time I ever
read the book first and then the movie, and the
movie lived up to the book. Oh, it's an amazing film.

Speaker 1 (04:29):
It is a tough but.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
Beautiful one of the great films of all time. So
go see that in theaters Sunday night. That's the July thirteenth,
or next Wednesday, July sixteenth.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
This is fantastic. Carry It's always so great to talk
with you. Thank you so much.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
Can't wait to see you guys again. I'll be in
New York soon. Someone has dropped. If you don't mind
in August, we would love it. Doors open.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
Thank you, Harry Medvite, thank you,
