Speaker 1 (00:00):
Our dear friend Harry medved from the Cinema Foundation upright
and early to tell us all about Wicked for Good
and so much more. How are you, Harry, Harry, I'm great.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
Happy Friday, guys, Happy Friday. So excited.

Speaker 3 (00:11):
How long you've been up? It's five o nine in LA.
How long you been up?

Speaker 2 (00:16):
Like half an hour? So good for you? Good for you? Yeah,
four thirty or so?

Speaker 3 (00:21):
All right, let's die.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
I can't wait to see you guys in New York.
I'm going to be there soon, so I'm trying to
like schedule meetings and stuff like that.

Speaker 1 (00:27):
Great cool.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
I was the weather there right now?

Speaker 3 (00:30):
Cold cold, not too crazy, but it's full.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
Yeah, bundle up when you come to see us.

Speaker 3 (00:35):
Cloudy today.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
Goody? All right? So we wait? Good time we go
to a movie theater, right, I mean it's cool, you
can kind of get warm.

Speaker 1 (00:43):
In perfect in there. Yep. And Wicked for Good looks
like something we definitely want to see in the theaters.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
Right, Oh, no, one hundred percent.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
Look.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
I love the guy who does the production design for
these films because it takes you to another world when
you see the first Wick or this one. His name
is Nathan Crown. He did all the Christopher Nolan movies.
He did Wanka a few years ago, and the Wicked
for Good is just magical. It is it's another world,
but that you entered the theater and I saw it
in three D where it really feels like a storybook

(01:12):
come to life, and the kids absolutely loved it. I
will tell you that if you're expecting to be better
than the first one, I'm not sure about that. As
one critic said, it's called Wicked for Good, it's not
Wicked for great. It's very good.

Speaker 3 (01:29):
Christine told me that people are walking out crying, like emotional.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
Well, yeah, so what I want to say is it's
a little bit more adults. It's just a little bit
darker I think. I mean, there's a more you know,
there's some tough themes in it, but wow, it's so
beautiful and just the friendship between Ariana Grande and Cynthia
Rievo is just so beautifully portrayed in the movie. A
lot of surprises. I thought it was really interesting how

(01:54):
they kind of go more into the original Dorothy story
of the Wizard of Oz, what they show happened behind
the scenes. Didn't know a lot of things that weren't
in the play because you know the second act of
the play, Christine, you've seen it a hundred times. It's
it's not as strong as the first act. So they
had to kind of bolster it up, okay, and they
did some great things with the story. So I think

(02:14):
that's a fantastic time with the movie. You'll love it.
What I love is that so many theater oners around
the New York City area are doing so much for
the movie. It's like the whole theater is festooned in
pink and green colors. Your standis with balloons and drink
cups and like a little Witch's had for popcorn and
stuff like that. So it's yeah, they're really advantizing the
whole movie going experience. So you'll love it.

Speaker 3 (02:35):
Hey, Harry, I have to ask you a question. Is
there another movie out there dumb enough yeah, to be
released today?

Speaker 2 (02:42):
Wicked is not your it's not your cup of tea.

Speaker 3 (02:44):
No, I'm saying like it's like what movie would come
out today besides Wicked? That would be like, like it'd
be crazy to do it to me because we're all
talking about Wicked. Is there another movie out there?

Speaker 2 (02:54):
Sure? Well, you got Zootoba two coming out on Tuesday
next week, and then also one christ Yeah, this is
one that you guys have to see. It's called Hamnet,
not Hamlet, but Hamnet. It's based on the book by
Maggie O'Farrell with Paul mescal and Jesse Buckley. Who's gonna
win the Oscar for Best Actress, Christine. You got to
see this movie. It's a real performers film. It also
is a bit of a tear jerker. But what a

(03:16):
gorgeous movie. Directed by Chloe Shao who did of course
No Badland. She won an Oscar for that and the
writer and I think it's one of the best films
of the year. So that opens the next week as
well in New York City. So go see Hamnett.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
And there's a movie today with Brendan Fraser, correct the
that's opening today.

Speaker 2 (03:37):
This is the kind this is the time of year
where people finally are getting good, smart adult movies to see.
So I'm i for one, I'm excited. Marty Supreme is
coming out in a few weeks. I saw that with
Timothy Shalome, a great New York City movie. By the way,
it is a wild ride. Yeah, it's a little period piece.
But it's it's amazing.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
You know.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
New Jersey has become this hotbed of filming. They shot
a complete Unknown there. Of course, they shot the Springsteen
movie there, and now Marty Supreme and I don't know everything.
Everything's happening in New Jersey for the film industry, and
people are selling.

Speaker 3 (04:09):
Of course in the studio, any chance of a good
Burger remake, great movie?

Speaker 2 (04:16):
No, why would you touch that masterpiece? Harry?

Speaker 3 (04:19):
Listen, we got to run. But next time we talk
to you, it might be live in studio.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
Right, it will be live in studio, and next time
we'll be talking about Avatar. Alright, fire and ask can't
wait for that one? Another film? You got to see them?

Speaker 3 (04:30):
Three D Harry Medved everybody, you know him, you love
them found.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
Let's enjoy the movies.

Speaker 1 (04:37):
Thank you so much.

Speaker 2 (04:39):
Thanks there
