Well, good morning, five am our time here in Houston's

(00:39):
we're checking with sky Mike and see if there's anything
going on with the roads.

Speaker 4 (00:42):
I think we've got some weptovers from last night. Katie Freeway,
Darry Ashford, I've got this shot. Why are they showing
me this? Apparently something happened a while back, but whatever
was there is now clear and they just forgot to
move the cameras on the system here, No big deal,
gotta stall. Look out Nord Freeway. It's I forty five
golf banks outbound. It's big truck to sitting on the
side minding zone business and I think when the super

(01:04):
size get there, they'll take that right lane on the inbound.
For now, we're getting by posting speeds twenty two minutes.
Rest of your freeways rock. I'm Skymike from the Generator

(01:36):
the news. Here's Cliff's onders.

Speaker 5 (01:37):
Thank you, Jimmy. Good morning every one.

Speaker 6 (01:39):
It's five oh one on KGRH hour Chops story. While
you may or may not have candidates to vote for
depending on where you live today, there are seventeen constitutional
amendments on the ballot for all Texans.

Speaker 7 (01:52):
And top of the list is Proposition thirteen, which raises
the homestead exemption for school district taxes.

Speaker 8 (02:00):
Average homeowner will probably save about five hundred dollars a
year if Proposition thirteen passes.

Speaker 7 (02:05):
That's Rice University Mark Jones. Another one I've known is
Pop sixteen that requires all voters to be citizens of
the United States.

Speaker 8 (02:13):
Texas law already prevents people who are not your citizens,
so proposition in sixteen simply puts that into the constitution.

Speaker 7 (02:21):
Just in case the Dems try to allow illegals to
vote in the future. Juff Biggs News Radio seven forty

ballot is Number three. It would allow judges to deny
bail under certain circumstances for defendants accused of serious felony offenses.
On the national front, President Donald Trump weighs in on
the tight New Jersey governor's race, backing Republican Jack Chittarelli.

Speaker 9 (02:51):
Very successful man who wants to put all of his
efforts now into really saving New Jersey, making it great again.
He's going to do it.

Speaker 10 (02:58):
He'll be able to do it, showing he is in
a near dead heat with Democrat Mikey Cheryl in Virginia
win some Earl Seals is the underdog against Democrat Abigail Spanberger,
but Republican Attorney General Jason Baris is in a better
position against Democrat Jay Jones, who's texted others about fantasizing
of killing his political opponents.

Speaker 11 (03:21):
Jay Jones is unfit for office to drop out. So
now this is Virginia's rendezvous with destiny. The entire world's watching.
We're going to pass this decency test.

Speaker 6 (03:30):
Ar is on Fox and Socialists or on Mom Donnie
is the favorite to beat Andrew Cuomo to become the
next mayor of New York City.

Speaker 12 (03:36):
What Mom Donnie is a charismatic swindler.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
I mean, you got to have it to him like
he did.

Speaker 13 (03:45):
He can light up the stage.

Speaker 6 (03:46):
Elon Musk with Joe Rogan. President Trump endorsed Cuomo and
not the Republican Curtis Sleewap. The late night shows are
forcing agendas yet again, you study finding that they're making
jokes about Mom Donnie's opponents ninety five percent of the time.
I'm Nick von DeCaro of Newsbuster says this is why
late night TV is pretty much irrelevant.

Speaker 14 (04:06):
Colbert twenty seven to one, Seth Meyers twenty to zero,
The Daily Show eight to zero, Jimmy Fallon, who was
the most balanced three to two, and he was the
one that was sort of poking fun at Mendani's age
because of him being thirty three, and it's an example
of these late night shows pushing a political.

Speaker 6 (04:23):
Dem He says they're pushing this because they hate traditional Democrats.

Speaker 5 (04:28):
Five ZHO four of the.

Speaker 6 (04:29):
Good news at Bush and Hobby is that TSA wait
times will be shorter today. The bad news is at
Bush you'll still be waiting over an hour to get
through security.

Speaker 15 (04:37):
That's ridiculous. I think the government needs to do better.
I fortunately came here three hours early, which isn't like me,
but I don't want to miss my flight.

Speaker 6 (04:43):
That woman with our TV partner Channel two. Wait times
at Hobby aren't expected to exceed thirty minutes. Meantime, the
White House says it will partially fund snap benefits. Kansas
Senator doctor Roger Marshall says Democrats have used children as
political pawns.

Speaker 16 (04:58):
Democrats are using children's lunch money as as leveraged to
get their one point five trillion dollars of additional funding.

Speaker 6 (05:05):
Marshall on Fox Business and Democrats better pay attention to this.
Even Charlemagne that God wants them to end the.

Speaker 17 (05:11):
Impass Democrats, you fought, it seemed like you lost the
fight at this point, you know, go and give it up.
At least give the people some relief by getting the

government closed five h five overnight.

Speaker 5 (05:27):
Futures taking a beating down.

Speaker 6 (05:29):
Futures down three hundred forty seven points so far this morning. Hey,
remember when the mainstream media claimed that Donald Trump wasn't
creating the jobs.

Speaker 5 (05:37):
Well, hirings on the rise.

Speaker 18 (05:41):
There are entry level openings again and jobs for people
without a college degree. Business strategist Jason Taylor sees workers
more flexible learning new skills.

Speaker 19 (05:50):
But I think there's a lot of opportunity out there too,
especially for those that know how to use and are
investing learning AI tools.

Speaker 6 (06:08):
Yet another problem with gen Z. They don't want to lead, specifically,
they don't want to be supervisors. Business strategist Dane Deson
says they're pretty much just living for today.

Speaker 8 (06:21):
They think about who they are today and unset of
who they're going to be entenlor twenty years on the
plus side.

Speaker 6 (06:26):
Deson says, this means more opportunities for those who you
know what promotions.

Speaker 5 (06:31):
It's five oh six, another win for the Houston Rockets.

Speaker 20 (06:35):
Left side Aaron Donald, Amen Hero step down the lane,

Speaker 8 (07:01):
Political violence in this country, a Trump shutdown. Check you in.

Speaker 1 (07:05):
We'll check it out every day.

Speaker 21 (07:06):
Fine use Radio seven kt RH.

Speaker 3 (07:11):
Oh Man, We're off to an edumacational start here this
morning on Houston's Morning News. Are rounding numbers. We're gonna
start with that topic today because it turns out McDonald's
has started rounding numbers at the restaurant, which means if
you have a bill for nine dollars and ninety six cents,
you'll pay ten dollars. It also means if you have

(07:34):
a bill for nine dollars and forty four cents, you
round down by four digits to the even forty or
to the nearest nickel. I think that's how it's working,
to the nearest nickel. You know, I'm hearing that McDonald's
customers are a little bit upset about this, and I

(07:54):
have to think that, you know, not not to be
judgmental of fast food custosustomers, but there's two things that
come to mind in this number One is rounding numbers
is math, and for those of us that weren't very
good at math, it might be confusing. Although the computer

(08:15):
is going to do the work for you, have they
been able to convert the cash registers at these businesses?
How confusing is this for the employees who now have
to I assume they've they've updated the computer system right
for rounding purposes. This is all because we've gotten rid
of the penny, and the excuse is there's a shortage

(08:36):
of pennies. I can't believe there's a shortage of pennies
already just because we just stopped making them. I mean,
they're probably a thousand pennies at my house alone. Of course,
maybe that's the problem. They're all sitting in the jar.
They're not being used by anybody. But I'm wondering how
you feel about this. Now that we have a major
fast food franchise that's participating in rounding, they're going to

(08:57):
be more and more and more and more retailers and
restaurants they're going to get on board with this. It'll
show up on your receipt. But I wonder how else,
I mean, are any of these Have you seen anybody
posting any signs anywhere saying we are now rounding. And
do you think that a business has an obligation to

(09:19):
tell you that they are now rounding the numbers so
that you can see for yourself. I mean, are they
what is there any chance they're automatically rounding and it
doesn't even show up as a round on your receipt,
or is it going to show up that they rounded
up rounded down on your receipt because there seems to
me this is a great way to steal some money

(09:41):
if you do it the right way, or in this case,
if you do it the wrong way. So again I
question that we already have a question. Today, you go
to the ihired radio app KTRH, You hit the talkback button,
first name, where you're calling from. How you feel about
business businesses rounding up, rounding down to the nearest nickel.
That's what's going to be happening more in more and
more places because the so called penny shortage. They're gonna

(10:03):
be rounding up or rounding down, depending on your BILLT
five ten time for traffic and weather.

Speaker 4 (10:07):
It's I'm seeing it the gas station where I go
and get my fruit and buy food that I.

Speaker 13 (10:11):
Eat that makes me sick. They're rounding, they're rounding. They
have some size that show on your receipt. I'm got
a receipt for anything.

Speaker 22 (10:19):
I mean, come on, it's a gas station.

Speaker 4 (10:21):
Go there, buy my red Bull, my black Rifle coffee.
Where you want to go, Let's go downtown. As you
can hear, it's not really super busy. I did have
something pop up on the Katie Freeway inbound, and I'm
having the darkness time assuming this. Let me check this
digital here, that'll do a lot better while we're at it.
They cleared whatever was Katie Freeway deiry Astra out of
the way.

Speaker 13 (10:41):
AH found it there. It is all right. This is
it ten downtown right before that.

Speaker 4 (10:47):
Puffle construction that goes to Studamot and this is outbound terry.
This thing is going to be a real horror show
starting Thursday night and at ten pm they're gonna shut
down even more lanes. So now we're gonna go from
three little skinny lanes and the textalk wall and death
to two skinny lanes and the.

Speaker 13 (11:04):
Textalk wall and death. This accident. Let me gets you
some laneage at the five to twenty break.

Speaker 4 (11:08):
I'm stri Mike and the Generator Supercenter, dot Com Traffic.

Speaker 3 (11:11):
Center from r KTRH top Tax Defenders twenty four hour
Weather Center. Ary is here to do. Are we rounding
at the weather channel? Are we rounding the temperatures up
or down or anything? No, no rounding, But.

Speaker 23 (11:22):
I will tell you that, you know, because our listening
area is such a large area, we do give temperature ranges,
you know, because it's gonna be a little bit cooler
like near the coast compared to some of the inland areas.

Speaker 3 (11:40):
So we're never going to take ninety nine point six
degrees and round that up to one hundred.

Speaker 23 (11:45):
That's a thermometer that sounds like, you know, like a
temperature for a fever, kind of thing. I no no rounding,
just just sunshine and very comfortable temperatures right now. But
we are warming up. We're going to get a little
bit more in the way of humidity. But I'm telling
you there's no rain right now through Saturday. I don't

(12:06):
see anything happening. It's pretty quiet. We'll wind up mid
seventies to around eighty today and then close to eighty
either side of eighty tomorrow, load to mid eighties. It
looks like Thursday, Friday, and Saturday there could be a
couple of places with their temperatures in the upper eighties
by the end of the week, but we are going

(12:26):
to be solidly in the eighties for much of the week.

Speaker 3 (12:29):
Temperature right now solidly in the forties forty nine. At
your official severe weather station, News Radio seven forty KTRH.

Speaker 13 (12:37):
I live in Conrad, I live in deer Park.

Speaker 21 (12:39):
Next on the ten, You're a reliable forecast on seven
forty KTRH. So today tis a record for longest government
shut down ever, thirty five days. Looks like it's pretty
safe to say that this is going to be broken,
although there are some people are saying that this being
election day, they come tomorrow the Democrats may be willing
to end all this. We'll see what Congressman Troy Nails

(13:00):
thinks about that. We'll talk to him next. First though,
traffic and weather together. Man, as we check out with Skymint,
I'm so happy to be short.

Speaker 4 (13:07):
Let's go right now, just downtown Katie Freeway. They're just
about to ninja that accident that was im westbound right
before that construction smunch at forty five westbound.

Speaker 13 (13:18):
But stay the course. By the time you get there,
it'll be gone.

Speaker 4 (13:20):
I'm Skymiae on the Generator Supercenter dot com, Traffic Center.

Speaker 6 (13:43):
We're just getting word in from the family of the
former Vice President Dick Cheney has passed away at the
age of eighty four. Capital murder chargers are filed against

Check you in.

Speaker 21 (14:19):
We'll check it out every day one Youth Radio seven JTRH.

Speaker 3 (14:25):
Yeah, we're still shutdown, five twenty fare time you're in
Houston's Warning News. Congressman Troy Nails joins us upright and
early on this election day. Congressman, welcome to the show.

Speaker 24 (14:34):
What's this?

Speaker 3 (14:35):
I hear that CNN canceled in appearance with you because
they didn't want to find out the truth about the
government shutdown?

Speaker 1 (14:42):
Jamie.

Speaker 5 (14:42):
Thanks for having me. Yeah, they did.

Speaker 25 (14:43):
They called.

Speaker 5 (14:44):
They said, who knows.

Speaker 24 (14:45):
About air traffic control?

Speaker 26 (14:46):
Who knows about our aviation industry better than the chairman
of the subcommittee, which is I? And so I said, sure,
I had no problem.

Speaker 24 (14:54):
We'll talk to Wolf Blitzer a little bit about.

Speaker 26 (14:56):
ATC air traffic controllers, the shortages we have and how
this shutdown is affecting them and really all the other
federal employees. In hour before the interview, they canceled it
because I believe they knew that I was going to
go in there and say, hey, listen.

Speaker 5 (15:11):
We've been working bipartisan with.

Speaker 26 (15:15):
Our Democrats with this ATC modernization, and everybody is coming
together to make sure that we can fly the friendlies
guys and everybody can feel safe. So we're doing it
on the House side. But the Democrats, specifically Chuck Schumer,
he doesn't care about air traffic control. He doesn't care
about the safety of our traveling public, and he certainly

(15:36):
doesn't care about the three to four to five hour
wait times right now you're seeing at Bush and other
airports across the country. Because Chuck Schumer hates Trump so much,
the American people are suffering, and he doesn't care.

Speaker 3 (15:49):
I saw the president of the Air Traffic Controllers Association
yesterday talking about the shortage that continues. What really exacerbates
the problem here is not only that you have people
who are calling out sick because of the fact that
they're not getting paid right now, but you've been, but
they're about four hundred air traffic controllers short of where

(16:09):
they were the last time we went through something like this.

Speaker 26 (16:13):
Yeah, we're Jimmy, we're about twenty five hundred air traffic
controllers short. We're about twenty five hundred short, and we're
trying to address that issue in Congress. You've got one
training facility which is in Oklahoma City. But we're doing
the best to try to get more young people and
others involved in in that career path.

Speaker 24 (16:33):
But it's tough.

Speaker 26 (16:34):
Why would you want to do it?

Speaker 24 (16:35):
It's very stressful.

Speaker 26 (16:36):
Yeah, we're going to pay you a little bit more.
We're giving them, you know, a bump in their salaries
and stuff. But it's about the quality of life issues.

Speaker 24 (16:44):
They're working six.

Speaker 26 (16:44):
Days a week, ten hour days.

Speaker 24 (16:46):
It's it's it's.

Speaker 25 (16:47):
A tough deal.

Speaker 26 (16:48):
But yes, that that uh that union wrote a letter
on the thirty first and said, hey, listen, we need
to get the government to vote and open up the
government with this clean cr But obviously Struck Schumer's not listening.
He's not listening. Now we'll find out this morning. I
think the Senate is going to vote again, possibly the
fifteenth time. Now where you could see the Democrats voting

(17:10):
to keep the government shut down. Republicans are doing the opposite.
We're voting to open up the government, but the Democrats
are shutting down. The most disturbing thing, Jimmy, is you'll
see these stupid polls out there, these polls that we'll
say forty percent of Americans believe the Republicans are responsible
for this shutdown. Where are they getting their information from

(17:31):
these forty percent of the American people.

Speaker 3 (17:33):
Well know, from the left, from watching MSNBC, from watching CNN,
from watching you know, from watching these news organizations that
either will talk about it or are just running the
party line. That's that's where they get that there, from
the echo chambers where they're getting it. Let me let
me ask you quickly too, before we let you go here,
a Congressman, about what you think is likely to happen

(17:56):
with this government shut down. I've heard a lot of
people speculate that today, being election day, once we get
past today, the Democrats are just trying to leverage this
for the best results they could get on election day,
and once the election is over and done with, then
they'll go ahead and reopen the government. Your thoughts on that.

Speaker 26 (18:14):
Well, some have said that I think it'll be interesting
in the mayoral race in New York City today, the
obviously the Virginia governor race, lieutenant governor, attorney general.

Speaker 5 (18:22):
So we'll see.

Speaker 26 (18:23):
But understand those are some blue cities and some blue states.
I don't believe the Republicans are going to be are
going to be.

Speaker 1 (18:31):
Very dissatisfied with those results.

Speaker 26 (18:34):
This evening, because I think they'll they'll go to the
socialist stuff there in New York City and some other
nut jobs. But I tell you, they just want to
blame Donald Trump for this. So what you're going to
see is when the election is lost and the Democrats win,
of course they're going to blame Trump and his policies
on this, and they're going to say the country is
now sick and tired of Trump and his policies, and
they're going to try to say that the country is

(18:56):
now moving further to the left and they want Democrats
back at chart. I believe the only way the government
reopens it's going to require two or three or four
more reasonable Democrats to buck chuck. They're gonna have to
buck chuck and open up the government. Congress, the House,
we will go back up most likely. I believe it'll
be the middle of the month, probably November, the week

(19:17):
of November seventeenth, because we're gonna have to vote on
another R because it expires on November twenty first.

Speaker 5 (19:24):
That's what we passed to.

Speaker 26 (19:25):
November twenty first.

Speaker 24 (19:26):
So I think we'll get back up during a couple
of weeks.

Speaker 26 (19:28):
Unfortunately, it'll be still two more weeks and we'll pass
a new R. How long that new one will continue,
maybe the end of the year, maybe going into the
new year, But I don't believe we get back up
there till the middle of the month.

Speaker 3 (19:41):
Okay, unfortunately, all right, Well, thank you sir, appreciate your
time as always, Thanks for getting up so early. Congressman
joy Nails five twenty eight. Let's take a look at
your money with Courtney Donahoe.

Fort Ben Congressman Troy Nails says CNN canceled his appearance
on their morning show at the last minute, clining breaking news.
He believes they just didn't like what he was going

Speaker 33 (23:30):
I was gonna tell him, if you think you can
blame one person, I'm blaming the Republican Party for what's
happening in our aviation industry with the shutdown, and then
you got PSA, and it's going to continue to get
worse for the traveling public because Chuck Schumer, and Chuck
Schumer alone does not care.

Speaker 32 (23:45):

terms of the illegal alien crackdown up in here in Texas,
Terrell County Sheriff that Eus Cleveland said that because unlike
other states, law enforcement here will work with the Feds.

Even if there's not a signed agreement, the sheriff certainly

with Curtis Sliwa looking to play spoiler.

Speaker 36 (25:31):

We're also keeping an eye on governor's races in New

start looking ahead to March.

Speaker 37 (25:47):
In the primaries, Republicans are trying to close their elections,
meaning that only voters registered with the party can cast

the goal is to eliminate outside side influences.

Speaker 38 (26:01):
Democrats are pulled in to try to slay the choice.

Speaker 2 (26:04):
Of the nominee.

Speaker 37 (26:05):
The party filed a lawsuit to change the rules, but
the Texas Secretary of State is fighting it, saying the

the court's decision before the March primary is unlikely.

Speaker 21 (26:42):
Here on news radio seven KTRH five.

Speaker 3 (26:48):
Thirty seven our time here in Houston's boring news story
out of Dearborn, Michigan. The foiled terror plot. Yes, I
was telling you that the attorneys for the men arrested.
We're calling it just a big misunderstanding, and I hope,
I hope the FBI gets this cleared up before somebody's somebody,

(27:08):
somebody's name gets drugged through the mud. Well, more details
have since come out about these these arrests and why
they were arrested in what the plot supposedly involved. Here
is the report from Fox.

Speaker 39 (27:23):
We are learning this investigation into what could have been
a Halloween massacre began months ago. It involves surveillance from
pole cameras and encrypted chats. Two men appeared this afternoon
in a federal courtroom in Michigan and are facing charges
and what authorities say is an ISIS inspired terror attack that,
if the suspects were successful, would have likely taken place

(27:45):
on Halloween in a Detroit suburb. Investigators say that men
use the term pumpkins as a code word for a
possible attack on.

Speaker 13 (27:53):
Lgbt Q bars or clubs.

Speaker 39 (27:55):
Moment Ali and Mashid mah Mood, along with the juvenile
refer to as person number one, are accused of plotting
this mass shooting. According to court documents, a lee was
practicing shooting at a local gun range. There were messages
between the alleged suspects about planning the attack, but of
course it never happened. On Friday, authorities conducted searches in
both Gearborn and nearby Inkster, Michigan. Officials moved in and

(28:18):
recovered three AR fifteen style rifles, two shotguns, four handguns,
and more than sixteen hundred rounds of ammunition, go pro cameras,
tactical vests, and other gear. FBI director Cash Bettel posting
on social media today in part, the FBI acted fast,
followed the evidence and likely saved countless lives.

Speaker 3 (28:39):
That sound like a misunderstanding to you, No, doesn't sound
like a misunderstanding to me either. Hey, question of the day,
iHeartRadio app KATRH hit the talkback button first thing where
you're calling from rounding up, rounding down. More and more
McDonald's is starting to do it now. I think it's
just a matter of time before all these retailers go
into the round up round down. How do you feel

(29:01):
about it?

Speaker 24 (29:02):
You do?

Speaker 13 (29:02):
Are you concerned about it? Rounding up and rounding down?
You find with it?

Speaker 3 (29:06):
If you noticed any businesses you're going through, they're starting
to do the round up round down thing again. The
iHeart radio I have KTRH first name. Where you're calling
from rounding up and rounding down five forty right now,

We have three little skinny lanes and a concrete wall

Speaker 13 (29:44):
That wreck is now ninja, so that's out of the way.
Let's check the.

Speaker 4 (29:47):
Golf Freeway coming up from Texas City. Got a smunch
on the outbound side before NASA Parkway. Wondering if that's
an actual incident or just a slow moving load.

Speaker 13 (29:57):
We'll double check that.

Speaker 4 (29:58):
For now, I'm not seeing a complete star opage, not
seeing the lame blockage causeway. We look good now and
thirty five minutes up into downtown south Southwest Freeway Sugarland,
we're a nice shape.

Speaker 13 (30:08):

Speaker 4 (30:10):

Speaker 13 (30:33):
That was my moon shot, Terry. I zoomed in.

Speaker 4 (30:36):
Oh yeah, the Fleer the Fleer camera from sky I thirteen.
When I zoomed that in, I mean you could see
the craters, you can see the little moon people, you
can see their drinking tang. And I think it was
a five o'clock hour yesterday. If anybody said, I'd love

Speaker 22 (31:05):
It's getting there.

Speaker 23 (31:07):
Not only is it going to be a full moon
tomorrow night, but it's going to be a super oh moon.
No full moon, yep, another super moon, that's right.

Speaker 22 (31:19):
So I hope you get some shots of that.

Speaker 4 (31:22):
Well, if anybody, if anybody had a big screen TV,
I mean that sucker would have poked you in the.

Speaker 13 (31:27):

Speaker 24 (31:30):
Awesome.

Speaker 22 (31:31):
I'll have to check it out.

Speaker 24 (31:33):
Well.

Speaker 23 (31:33):
The nice thing is there are no clouds to obscure
any skygazing that you're doing at night. The watching of
the moon. We are sunny and dry all week long.
Temperatures this morning are a little cool, but it does
warm up much like what we had yesterday in the
mid to seventies to around eighty this afternoon, and then

(31:56):
not quite as cool tonight, most of us in the
mid fifties to me at sixty somewhere around there. It
gets steadily warmer through the week, near eighty tomorrow, loa
to mid eighties Thursday and Friday and Saturday as well,
but toward the end of the week we might start
seeing a few of those upper eighties creeping back into
the forecast.

it is five point fifty one. Now coming up, we're
going to talk a little bit about the New York
City elections today. They could very well elect a Democrat,
Socialist AA Communist as the mayor of New York City,
and it seems like a lot of the media is

(32:46):
all in on this. A lot of the comedy shows
were in on it too. Comedy shows were all in
for Montdamie, attacking his rivals ninety five percent of the
time and just poking a little good nature fun at him. Yeah,
they would be fun to have a socialist mayor in
New York, right. More of that story coming up next. First,
low traffic and weather together. Yes, guy, Mike, what have
you got East Sam? I didn't find it.

Speaker 4 (33:06):
Jeffrey and the Walgreens truck found this East Sam problem.

Former Vice President Jack Cheney has died at the age

Next on the ten time Saving Traffic con seven forty KTRH.

Speaker 3 (34:24):
Yeah, some of those greyhounds might be headed for Texas
after today, after the election today in New York City.
Do you see, by the way, it's funny because the
newsman is treating it serious. I think that the Governor
Abby was just trying to make a point about putting
on one hundred percent tariff and anybody who moves here
from New York City, because I don't think you technically
can put a tariff on a human being, but you know,

(34:46):
maybe you could on their moving truck. Right now, though,
there's not a whole lot of media help when it
comes to attacking Mondamin. Fact, they're attacking the rivals ninety
five percent of the time. UH news By did a
story on this. We had the executive editor of MRC NewsBusters,
Tim Graham, joining us. So the media has pretty much

(35:06):
been all in for mont Domi since the beginning, haven't they?

Speaker 42 (35:12):
Yeah, pretty much. You know, it's pretty funny when the
so called mainstream media has a Democrat primary and chooses
the most extreme candidate, which they clearly have in Montanni.

Speaker 24 (35:23):
They are all down with the AOC.

Speaker 42 (35:25):
Energy in this particular thing. We were looking at the
late night comedians who told sixty three jokes about the
New York mayoral race, and only three of them were
about Mom Donnie. They were mostly attacking mont Donnie's opponents. Now,
the jokes about Mam Donnie two of the three where
Jimmy fell and just making fond that he's thirty three, Like, oh,

(35:48):
it's seven roommates are excited for him. You know this
was you know, it wasn't even making fun of his
positions or anything.

Speaker 24 (35:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 42 (35:56):
So, I mean, look, Saturnay Live had a skit the
other night about the New York mayoral debate, and yeah, Mom,
Donnie was the sympathetic figure.

Speaker 24 (36:05):
I mean, it's just it really is amazing.

Speaker 42 (36:09):
And obviously the conservative media is going to have a
play thing now if he.

Speaker 3 (36:14):
Wins well in New York City's going to have a
whole world of her. Evidently nobody has bothered to think
this out. What would Mondami's policies mean for New York City?
What is likely to happen to New York City if
he's elected mayor.

Speaker 42 (36:28):
Well, I think the first problem he's going to have, though,
is a lot of his campaign promise he doesn't have
the money for. And he's going to be go begging
the governor Hokeel because he really can't come to Congress
and beg for more socialism. That's not going to happen
at least in the next year or two. So I
think that people are going to find that they're going
to be disappointed he can't do the things he promised

(36:51):
he was going to do. So it's more likely that
you'll have lefties that are upset. Linda Sayser was suggesting
she wants to make sure he's enough of an anti
Semitic Muslim. Muslim extremist, so she'll be watching for that.
You know, he's going to try to prevent Mint Yahoo
from coming to New York City, or if cha Hill
arrest him when he arrives. I mean, it's clearly going

(37:14):
to be a show.

Speaker 24 (37:16):
You know.

Speaker 42 (37:16):
Some could say, well, Bill Deblasi was a socialist, what's
the big deal? But I think we'll find out. And yeah,
I think that it's not a good thing for yeah,
the health and vigor of New York City.

Speaker 24 (37:29):
But this is the electric they.

Speaker 3 (37:31):
Have, Yes, I guess it is, and it's likely to
be the only electorate that they are going to have
left because anybody who can afford to get out of
New York City, and I know, at this point, I'll
know who could afford to stay. Anybody who can get
out of New York City is likely to get out
of New York City, and many of them are heading
to Florida and headed right here. To Texas's Governor Abbott's
joke about putting a terrify on people who move here

(37:52):
from New.

Speaker 42 (37:52):
York, well, I just you know, I do find it
amazing that the Democrats keep moving farther and farther to
the left, and the news media never, they don't even
use labels, you know, standing there right behind Mom Donnie.
The other day was Leticia James, and the whole time
she was trying to ruin President Trump as Attorney General

(38:15):
of New.

Speaker 24 (38:15):
York City, they would or New York State.

Speaker 42 (38:17):
They wouldn't even call her a Democrat on in their stories.

Speaker 24 (38:22):
You know, now she's a Trump opponent.

Speaker 42 (38:25):
You know, there was I guess it was a week
ago Friday, ABC News head back to back, a gushy
story about Letitia James, which never mentioned she was a Democrat.

Speaker 24 (38:36):
She's just a victim of Trump.

Speaker 42 (38:37):
And right after that was a story on Trump abusing
Mom Donnie. And it was just a press release for
Mom Donnie. And it let him make a whole bunch
of speeches about he's going to be a good Muslim.

Speaker 24 (38:47):
Now and forever.

Speaker 42 (38:49):
It's just amazing that they call this a news product.

Speaker 24 (38:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (38:52):
Well, they thought Bill Deblasio was bad, wait till they
get to mont Domie. A few years of on DOMMI

Speaker 3 (45:46):
Ten all, right y'all got this sound six oh eight
our time here In houston's parting deers ARE i rounding,
up rounding down to the nearest nickel because we got
a penny. SHORTAGE i Don't i'm not sure how bad
the penny shortage, is but we're not making them. Anymore

(46:07):
so even if we don't really have a penny shortage,
yet we're headed in that, direction rounding, up rounding, down
which means that you buy something that you know involves
change and involves pennies that they're rounded up to the
nearest snickele of rounded, down depending upon where you're at
in the, process it will be confusing for a. While

(46:30):
math is not necessarily our strongest suit when it comes
right down to. IT i only ask that if you're
going to as a business, person if you're going to
go this, route that you post signs in your. Business
i've asked about this. Before i'd have to be in
a business as any sign up that says that they're
rounding up or rounding. Down my guess is a lot
of them won't because they just don't want to get

(46:52):
into a discussion about. It it'll be on your. Receipt
we're starting to see that. Already McDonald's is among those
who are are going into the rounding up rounding down
thing at this. Point So i'm just wondering how it's
more and more businesses start to do. This i'm wondering
how you're feeling about. It you can go to The,
iheartbrady WHAT, ktrh hit the talkback, button first, name where
you're calling, from and your feelings on rounding, up rounding.

Speaker 5 (47:14):
Down david And.

Speaker 47 (47:15):
Oakridge rounding to the nearest nicol is going to do
nothing to change that confused the look you get when
your bill is nine to twenty and you give them
a ten dollars bill and twenty Cents dave onlyke.

Speaker 16 (47:27):
CONROLL i don't mind if they round down on, it
BECAUSE i got enough penny's to choke a horse.

Speaker 48 (47:32):
MAN i think most people would accept the third penny
being rounded, up but that's not how it. Works the
third penny should have an even chance of being rounded
up or.

Speaker 41 (47:43):
Down there are rules in. Sight it's about. Rounding, okay let's.
See it's not going to be that, simple is? It
six to? Ten time for traffic and weather? Together, Hot, yes, Guy.

we're gonna stay dry all week. Long, now today is

Speaker 13 (52:05):
Preset on the new and Improved Free iHeartRadio.

Speaker 3 (52:08):
App it is election, day and if the early voting
is any indication the, polls you probably won't have a
weight at the. Polls only about seven percent Of texans
turned out for early. Voting although again it's a midterm,
election not even a midterm. Election it's just a you,
know election without a whole lot of candidates to drive

(52:29):
you to the. POLLS i, mean there's some school board
positions in those types of, things but the big, driver
if there is a, driver are going to be the constitutional.
Amendments Mark, Jones Rice university professor joins. US i don't
know how important these constitutional amendments are to your Average,
texan but there are some fairly important things in, here aren't.

Speaker 8 (52:47):
THERE i, know definitely until one that probably is the
most interesting homeowner is for those under the age of sixty,
five there's a homestead consumption increase from one hundred thousand
two one hundred and forty. Thousand That's proposition. Thirteen there
is a host of other propositions out. There one would
increase money for water, funding another would increase funding For

(53:11):
Texas State Technical. College and then there's even one there
for a creation of a dementia research preprevention Research.

Speaker 3 (53:20):
Institute, yeah and there's a couple there too THAT i
think are preemptive strikes to try to Prevent texas from
ever being able to tax you in other certain areas
that they aren't taxing you. Currently but there's always that concern,
that depending on who's running the state, government somebody might
come and try to slip a new tax in. There
so they're banning some things like banning taxes on realized

(53:43):
or unrealized capital gains of an, individual, family, estate or,
trust for. Example That's proposition, too, right.

Speaker 8 (53:50):
And then there's also a proposition there that would ban
an inherritance. Tax now nobody's talking about adopting, one but
as you, mentioned if this gets into the, constitution it
becomes very difficult in the future for anyone to adopt
it because that requires a two thirds vote in The,
house two thirds vote in The, senate and then a
popular vote In.

Speaker 3 (54:09):
November, yeah and there's one that would prevent the state
legislation from imposing a death, Tax so that's another preempt to.

Speaker 24 (54:16):
Strike, yeah that's sort of the inheritance death. Tax, Okay,
yeah all.

Speaker 3 (54:21):
Right, NOW i think maybe the most important one, though
is probably the crime, proposition and that's one that has
gotten sort of mixed reviews, here denying bail under certain
circumstances to persons accused of certain offenses punishable as a.
Felony it seems very loosely. Worded your thoughts on, That.

Speaker 8 (54:40):
Well that was put in there in part because of
concerns about what practices that have been going on In
Harris county where we've seen people who are violent, criminals
they're released on bail and then they go out and
commit other violent crimes while out on. Bail this would
allow judges in some cases require judges to deny bail

(55:01):
if the prosecutor can show that these people represent either
a threat to themselves or a threat to the broader,
community or represent a threat to jump.

Speaker 24 (55:09):
Bail what do you.

Speaker 3 (55:10):
Think the voter turnout is likely to. Be it's not
looking like this is going to be a very well attended.

Speaker 8 (55:15):
ELECTION i think statewide will probably be somewhere in the
low double, digits so somewhere are like, twelve, thirteen fourteen.
Percent there's some other elections statewide that are driving turnout
at a higher. Level in places Like, austin there's an
attempt by The city Of austin to increase property taxes
by a pretty substantial, margin and that's getting some. Turnout

(55:37):
and then down In San, antonio The San Antonio spurs
have a proposition on the ballot that would build a
new arena for. Them those are two ones that are
really driving. Turnout and then even here in The Harris,
county we have A Congressional district eighteen special election that's
driving turnout in a small part of the. Region and
then there's a Big Texas State senate race up In

(56:00):
Parent county that's also driving turnout on The.

Speaker 24 (56:02):
Republican, side.

Speaker 3 (56:03):
Okay and there's a few other things that are just position.
Statements for, Example proposition sixteen voters must Be United states,
Citizens proposition fifteen parents of the primary decision makers for their.
Children they're just basically statements of where the state is
going to stand on these particular.

Speaker 24 (56:19):
Issues.

Speaker 8 (56:21):
Right those are just symbolic. Propositions they don't really change
much in the way of the status. Quo it's already
illegal for a non citizen to, vote and parents already
have primary responsibility for raising your. Children it's more a
position statement that is pushed forward By republican lawmakers just
to signal what their beliefs. Are the parents should have
the primary responsibility for raising your, children and then non

(56:43):
citizens should not be allowed to.

Speaker 3 (56:45):
That all, Right, mark thanks as always, Appreciated Rice University

Speaker 3 (01:04:25):
News but this segment's not about you, know THE tsa
lines or air traffic controllers calling in. Sick this is
about what we routinely do when we're shopping for. Airfare you,
know you'll go on an airline website or maybe go
on a discount website or, whatever and you'll put in
the flight information for what it is you're trying to,

(01:04:47):
book right or but and you'll and you'll get a,
price and then, okay that's whip the. Prices and then
maybe you'll go back a couple of days later and
you'll check it, again and the next time you check,
it the price is like a couple hundred bucks more
than the last time you checked. It you're, going wait a,
minute it was like five hundred bucks two days, ago

(01:05:08):
now it's seven hundred.

Speaker 24 (01:05:09):
Bucks what?

Speaker 3 (01:05:09):
Happened, well there are those of us who suspect that
what happened is is because you're using your cell phone
or computer and there's cookies, involved and you know they
know what you're. Searching they always know what you're. Searching
that if you are looking, up especially multiple, times a

(01:05:30):
particular travel, destination then then that they know it's somewhere
you're interested in. Going so they they if they think
you're super interested in going to that, location they'll jack
the price. Up here's a report on this From fox twenty.

Speaker 40 (01:05:47):
Six there are those people who swear this is, true
and you cannot convince them, otherwise while others insist it's
just an urban. Myth the reality probably somewhere in. Between
but here's the. Issue you, know website store cookies on
our computers when we. Visit typically we have to give permission,
first but these little packets of information help the site

(01:06:07):
remember who we are when we, visit so it loads
more easily and we can pick up where we left
when we come. Back they can also be used to
track browsing behaviors and analytics and personalized.

Speaker 13 (01:06:18):
Advertising that's the part that's important.

Speaker 40 (01:06:21):
For the suggestion that the more we search for a
specific airfare or a, destination the travel websites and airlines
will see the browsing history as an opportunity to raise
prices because we're invested in going. There travel experts say
there are a lot of factors in fluctuating, prices from
problems at specific, destinations changing fuel, prices big blocks of

(01:06:42):
tickets being. Sold it can all push a ticket price.
Up but tech experts say it's. True, yeah but those
cookies are a pretty powerful tool.

Speaker 35 (01:06:51):
Too its tracking you, everywhere and when that, happens people
know what your interests, are what are you looking, for
your intentions to, buy and if you're buying an airline.
Ticket the airline will know this and will will apply
dynamic market. Pricing and it's just a fancy word of

(01:07:15):
the more.

Speaker 1 (01:07:15):
You like, it the More i'll stick it to.

Speaker 35 (01:07:18):
You, okay the more you like, something the more it's
gonna cost, you.

Speaker 3 (01:07:22):
The more you like, it the More i'll stick it to.
YOU i believe that's. HAPPENING i really.

Speaker 32 (01:07:27):
Do.

Speaker 3 (01:07:28):
Well it happened just the other. Day elizabeth was looking
up airfare to one. Place one, day she went back
to look it up. Again two days, later it almost.
Doubled the other thing about airline price it drives me
crazy is that there's no. You it's like the stock.
Market it's, up it's, down it's all. Around there's no
consistency to, it you, know one day being one, price

(01:07:51):
the next day being a completely different. Price it's just. Amazing,
anyway sick forty time for traffic and weather. Together something he,
said you, said, smoke smell like.

and also we're. SMOKING.

Speaker 4 (01:08:14):

six At League City. Parkway robert From, dayton he's my

Barrett seven seventh is our. Time you're In houston's Born.
News foreclosures it's a, scary ugly. Word nobody likes. It
anybody who's ever been foreclosed on could tell you what
a gut, wrenching ugly process it. Is so when we
see them on the, rise and In july those numbers

(01:23:04):
were on the, rise let's find out a little more about.
That here's a report ON.

Speaker 54 (01:23:08):
Msn foreclosures jumped seventeen percent this year As american home
owners struggle with mounting financial. Pressure more than one hundred
one thousand properties entered foreclosure during the third quarter of
twenty twenty. FIVE a Tom a real estate data company
says seventy two thousand homes started the foreclosure process last quarter.

(01:23:30):
Alone banks took back thirty three percent more homes compared
to last. Year the trend reflects broader money troubles As
americans deal with years of rising prices and fewer job.
Openings housing costs remained painfully, high with mortgage rates above
six percent and typical home prices near four hundred eleven thousand.

Speaker 3 (01:23:49):
Dollars, okay, well some of THAT i would put stock,
in not so. Much not so much the jobs, thing
because we just had another report that would with counterradict
what they're saying about. Jobs ALTHOUGH i did note that
you was A UPS i think just laid off like
forty eight thousand, People so there are some layoffs that are.

(01:24:12):
Happening but what is particularly disturbing is That texas is
leading the nation And houston has one of the highest
rates around among MAJOR us cities and, foreclosures And i'm
kind of trying to figure out why that. Is it
says in this. Story foreclosure of filings sticked up again In,
july And, texas Especially, houston was a major. Driver july's

(01:24:37):
foreclosure activity continues to trend upward year over, year with
increases in both starts and. Completions while rising home prices
are helping many owners maintain, equity the steading climb in
filing suggests growing pressure in some. Markets among major markets
one million plus, Population houston posted one of the worst foreclosure,
rates one in every one and eighty two housing units

(01:24:58):
out of. Filing houston led the big metros and new
foreclosure starts with fourteen hundred and six In, july greater
Than chicago's one hundred and. Seventeen New york had one
thousand and. Three dallas had seven hundred and fifty, one
so that is quite literally double what they had In.

when He appointed Linda McMahon Secretary, of education he pledged
to get rid. Of it, she says she's working herself
out of a job and has already laid off lots.

(01:30:43):
Of people but now that nobody's coming, into work it's.
REALLY clear, i mean think we how many TIMES have
i talked? To you think what we invest in Education?
In texas billions of dollars and you know that come
from property taxes that now the state is. Taking home

that have to put some things in. Other places so
it's it's too complex for an, executive order is what

the People that i've talked to It the Department of.
Education say but they are unwinding it as quickly as that,

doing home, improvements lately and it's kind of showing Up At.
Home depot THAT'S why i met by my little teas
that As Goes, home depot so goes to.

Speaker 24 (01:41:31):
The nation.

Speaker 3 (01:41:33):
Maybe there might be something. To It During home depots
quarter two quarterly conference Call, in july it. Noted challenges
when a coupany says it's, having challenges it means sales,
are down slower activity in. Its stores they saw a
slight one point four percent up ticket average year over your,
ticket size but that was not because of. More customers

(01:41:57):
it was due to higher prices and also shift in
the kinds of things that people. Were buying the actual
number of transactions actually declined byero point four percent from the.
Previous year the first six months of twenty, twenty five
transaction counted stores open more than a year fell by point.
Five percent transactions across, all stores including Newly Opened home

(01:42:18):
depot stores fell point nine percent for the. Second quarter
we're spending less money on home. Improvement products of course they're,
more expensive like everything else, is. Too Right home depot
sources about half of the products it sells IN the
us but that still means that about half of the
products on its shelves comes. From overseas in some cases

(01:42:39):
there were tariffs on those things that made them even
more expensive than what they. Already WERE but i think
it's more than just higher ticket prices on these on,
THESE items, i mean prices go up and prices. Go
down remember when we had.

Speaker 13 (01:42:55):
A Run on.

Speaker 3 (01:42:56):
Canadian lumber was that was that two? YEARS ago i
remember two or three years Ago where canadian lumber just
went through, the roof but people were still doing their home.
Improvement projects they were still they were still putting, up
fences and they're still buying lumber for things that they
needed to build because they were concerned that the price
would only. Go higher so higher prices don't necessarily mean

(01:43:19):
that people won't buy the product if they generally feel
good about their own. Personal circumstances this may be more
of a case of just people just. Inflation fatigue at,
This POINT as i, said before we have at least
this president seems to have inflation, under control but nothing
is going to take back the inflation we saw During the.
Biden years those prices, are higher they're not going to
go back. Down again seven forty time for traffic and.

(01:43:42):
Weather together, You know terry suld do a little. Home
improvement spit up the golf ball a. Little bit maybe
put some windows on.
