Speaker 1 (00:00):
Bob Price at brad part News joining US Now Associated
editor to talk about ICE creating a Homeland security task
force in Houston because of the major cartel problem we've
got here. Bob, Good morning, how are you.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
I'm doing great, Bob, how are you this morning? I'm good.

Speaker 1 (00:16):
Thank you. I appreciate you coming on with us. So
in June, according to what you wrote for bright Bart,
thirteen hundred and sixty one criminal aliens were rounded up
by ICE officers in Houston, including child predators, murderers, hijackers,
airplane hijackers, and cartel and gang members. And then that
led DHS to have to create a task force. Tell
us about that.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
So not only the thirteen sixty one last month in June,
there another twelve hundred and some odd of the month before.
So more than twenty six hundred criminal aliens were removed
from the streets of Houston in the last sixty days.
It's an amazing effort by the Immigrations and Customs Enforcement
officers at RO and HSI and the other federal agents.

(01:00):
You know, the Trump administration is taking a whole of
government approach here, employing agents from DEA US Marshall Service IRS,
agents and all of these other federal agencies are ganging
up against the gangs and we're seeing great progress in this.
So now they've established an official Houston Homeland Security Task

(01:24):
Force to go after and target not only criminal aliens,
but members of very dangerous gangs and cartels that have
been designated by the Trump administration as foreign terrorist organizations.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
So obviously ICE is doing a great job. If we
did wrap up twenty five twenty six hundred people in
two months just in this area alone, so the task
force will improve and increase the security and the deportation
and the discovery of these individuals.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
How well, it gives the one of the agencies a
better mechanism to work together to exchange information, to gather
intelligence and then more effectively go after not only these
criminal aliens, but their financial resources as well and try
to figure out where the organized criminal activity is taking place.

(02:16):
And so it's an extension of what Governor Greg Abbott
started in twenty seventeen when he created or expanded the
Houston Area Gang Task Force, and it was the same
concept there, bringing all of the assets together, getting the information, intelligence,
data sharing going on, and effectively going after At that

(02:36):
point in time, they were really concerned about the MS
thirteen violence that was rampant going on in Houston. Now
you've seen that shift to the trendy Iragua Venezuelan gang
that the Biden administration allowed to flood into this nation
over the last two years, and you know, we're having
to take action against them. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
In your piece for Brad Park, Bob, not only trend
to Iraguan MS thirteen, you list a whole host of gangs, armanos, pistoleros, latinos.
I don't have a great Spanish accent, but but there's
a whole bunch of these gangs here. The two prominent
ones still Trendy Aragua and MS thirteam.

Speaker 2 (03:09):
Though, yes, and the cartel a new generation out of
Western Mexico that is probably the most violent cartel in
the in the country of Mexico. They used drones to
drop bombs on their enemies, armored vehicles and assassins. You know,
they go after political officials down there, businessmen are you know,

(03:33):
kidnappings for ransom, human trafficking, sex trafficking, all these kinds
of things. These are very very dangerous groups and this
task force, you know, those guys are operating here. We've
seen shootouts on the on the streets of Houston as
these gangs battle for drug trafficking areas and human smuggling,
actually stealing each other's human cargo. And Houston's a hub

(03:56):
for this because of our freeway system were the kind
of the gateway from the Rio Grand Valley into the
north and eastern United States, and so we see a
lot of various, very intense criminal activity going on here,
and so that's why the Trump administration is focusing with

(04:17):
this new task force.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
You beat me to the question of why Houston. You
just nailed it with the freeways and everything you just
described why it is a hub. And I'm so glad
this goes without saying that we actually have an in
an administration now that cares about it and is concerned
with doing something about it, and this creation of this
task force is an example of that. Bob Price, Associate

(04:39):
editor at breat Bart News. Bob, thank you for the
great work. We appreciate it, and thanks for your time.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
To see you next time.
