Speaker 1 (00:00):
So was this special session really special? Let's ask Representative
Brian Harrison. He joins US year on news radio seven KRH.
Didn't get property tax reform done? Huh, No, it was.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
It was especially terrible. And I don't say that to
be funny or tongue in cheek. I mean, this is
one of the biggest betrayals of the voters of Texas
anybody could have imagined. I mean, and I posted this
last night around midnight when we got out of there,
that you know, the third special Session is over no
property tax relief. None of the Democrats, zero Democrats were
(00:33):
punished in any way. Despite all the promises you heard
about vacating their chairs and arresting them and taking them
off their committees. We did nothing. In fact, Democrats were
rewarded the Texas House, which has been controlled by the
Democrats after the last primary season. There was a lot
of talker reforming the Texas House to make it controlled
by Republicans. That didn't happen. We had the biggest most
liberal budget in history. DEI, Transgenderism, Hollywood all being funded
(00:56):
at record levels by Texas hardworking Texans. Tax government grew,
liberty shrunk. I'm convinced that Texas government is corrupt. And
of course no, no property tax relief. Forget property tax elimination.
We didn't pass a single bill that will reduce property
taxes for even one Texas property tax payer by even
one penny. In this special session, taxes are going to
(01:20):
go up at that ragious Do.
Speaker 1 (01:21):
You think that part of the problem is we have
a lot of conflicts of interest? And I will just
I'm not going to name names because I think the
world of him as a human being and as a
state senator. But when you have people making decisions over
things like property taxes who make a living fighting property
taxes in the court or with jurisdictions, that strikes me
(01:42):
as a bit of a conflict of interest.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
Well yeah, I mean, look, I without speaking to the
individual you're talking about here, I can tell you a
similar set of circumstances. If it was a federal official,
these would be felonies. This would be felonious conduct at
the federal government level. You could never have somebody making
consequential decisions on an area that directly affects them the
way that this does. And I say that as somebody
(02:05):
who worked in the federal government at the highest levels
for many years. I know the kind of ethics and
the conflicts of interest rules that I had to abide by.
But here's what I can do. You know, look at
in the rear view mirror. It's important to learn what
failed that. I'm always looking forward and look. I love
the state of Texas. Texas should be leading the nation freedom, liberty,
small government, low taxes, low regulations. We are failing. Florida's
(02:26):
kicking our butt. There is zero, zero, none, bold conservative
leadership coming out of Texas. So I'm going to stand
up and provide it today. I'm going to officially call
and demand the governor immediately bring us back for the
bare minimum of putting our state on a path to
eliminate property taxes and for major, massive, substantial cuts immediately
(02:49):
before we are allowed to go home. And then to
finally stop the Biden agenda that Texans are being forced
to fund. I'm sick and tired of Texans being forced
to fund DEI, transgender in doctrinations, liberal Hollywood with art
with their tax dollars. That's got to end. So I'm
going to demand the governmor to bring us right back
so that we can actually deliver property tax relief, a
(03:10):
path to elimination and stop the weaponization of tax money
against taxpayers.
Speaker 1 (03:16):
Before this special session, the governor said he would call
as many special sessions as necessary to tackle these issues.
Do you do you believe that he will call another session?
I know you going to ask him. Do you think
you will?
Speaker 2 (03:27):
I don't know. I mean I think. Look, we got
redistting done, which was a good thing. But the hard
truth of that is that took millions of patriots across
Texas demanding actions from their government and the President of
the United States to force action out of via the
liberal establishment of Austin Uniparty. So I don't know what
he'll do or not do, But also don't forget the
(03:47):
Austin UNI Party spent a full month after the regular
session gas lighting Texans into believing that they had delivered quote,
the biggest and most historic property tax relief in history.
So these people are not above lowe to the Texans
that they're supposed to serve, and that perhaps that's one
of the biggest outrageous Texans deserve the truth. They've voted
for bold Republican leadership. They deserve bold Republican leadership, But
(04:10):
they also need transparency and honesty out of their elected
officials in Austin, and unfortunately we're just not seeing very
much of that.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
All right, Representative, thank you always appreciate your time. That
is Representative Brian Harrison
