Speaker 1 (00:00):
Okay. Sunday is the one year anniversary of the attempt
on President Trump's life. He obviously was a shot in
the ear. Thankfully he turned his head. It literally changed history.
So we're looking back now not only at how that
changed the twenty twenty four election in this history, but
also what have we learned about security since then. Chris Bagala,
political analyst, joining us now to offer some thoughts. Chris,

(00:20):
good morning, Hey, good morning.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
How are you.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
We're great, Thanks very much, Chris. I want to talk
about this from two fronts. As I mentioned in the intro,
let's talk about what that moment did. A lot of
people feel like President Trump's rise from that dais or
that podium or that riser on which he was shot
with his fist in the air and fight, fight, fight
won him the election.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
You agree with that, well, I think it cemented his victory.
It crystallized and changed everything. I mean, you know, if
you think about it, that assassination attempt on Trump coming
up on one year was a seminal moment, not only
in the twenty four election, but really in the history

(01:02):
of our country. You know, I believe it was a
crystallizing moment for the Center and the left of center voters,
those who maybe we're not going to vote for Trump
or we're thinking about it. It absolutely drove home the
thought that Donald Trump with those voters, with everybody in
the country, it drove home the thought that Donald Trump

(01:24):
was unfairly hunted by President Biden, the Justice Department with
those ridiculous criminal charges, the FBI with raids on his
home in Marilago, by the media, and more, and whether
or not you believe that the government was behind the
assassination attempt of Donald Trump. It crystallized Trump that he

(01:47):
was hunted, and Trump's reaction getting up, fight, fight, fight,
was the stuff of legend. So absolutely that did that.
And eight days later Biden bowed out. And you know,
we watched Harris cackle, you know, with with brilliant comments
like the community bank is in the community. You know,

(02:08):
she was a brilliant candidate, but Trump was better. And
it was something that changed absolutely everything.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
Marry those things together, Chris, if you could all of
the things that you just pointed out about trying to
take him down with the law fair you know, they
tried to bankrupt him, they tried to jail him, and
then they eventually tried to kill him, but they would
be a larger government agency or government organization. This kid,
this Thomas Crooks, was not a part of that, or
was he? Can you marry those two things together. What

(02:36):
do we know about him today that we didn't know
a year ago?

Speaker 2 (02:39):
You know, look, I don't know about that, but as
somebody who has worked over a dozen presidential events at
the highest level, I mean we're talking about seven to
ten days out. You begin meetings, you're there with every
single Secret Service, whether it's you know, and they break
it up with a rival. Every event, every movement of

(02:59):
the president. You're there with White House Communication staff, they're
called WAKA. You're there with other events, I mean advanced people.
You're there with local police, county police, Secret Service. You
go on and on and on. I'm telling you that
there's no way possible that that roof that Crooks gained

(03:22):
access to could have been left unattended. That's an absolute,
total impossibility. We're talking about the recent report. Oh there's
the you know the these Secret Service agents are going
to be suspended. There were issues with drones and communication. No,
that roof one hundred and thirty yards away, it is

(03:44):
an absolute impossibility that it wasn't manned. That's not about
a lack of manpower. It's not about a lack of communication.
That is a stunning, stunning on mission. There's no way
that happened, well except for it was meant to happen,

(04:07):
that that roof was not manned. Crooks gained access to it. Now,
I'm not going to get into anything else. I don't know,
we don't know. We know more about the guy who
shot the healthcare executive in twenty four hours than we
know about Thomas Crooks, his movement, his cell phones, and
every single thing he's done his entire life. We knew

(04:28):
more about that guy Luigi, you know homeboys up there
with his GoFundMe and all that. We know more about
him in twenty four hours than we do. Crooks think
of that. I'm telling you what happened in Butler was
a travesty and it changed everything Donald Trump was at
that point, whether we knew it or not, cemented as

(04:48):
the next president. He was a brilliant candidate after that.
It also brought about a bunch of young voters who
I believe maybe maybe weren't going to vote. We're thinking
about it, but when he got shot, and he was
a very good candidate, and he was all over Instagram,
you know, with the McDonald's and the garbage truck and

(05:09):
everything that was entertaining. It opened the door for a
bunch of voters who voted for Trump. That surprised us
all on election night. But that moment changed it all.
It cemented and crystallized that Donald Trump was unfairly hunted
and everybody knew it.

Speaker 1 (05:29):
Political analyst Chris Bagala breaking it down for us just
two days from the one year anniversary of that attempt
on President's Trump life, Trump's life, President Trump's life, which
indeed did indeed change the course of history. Chris, thank
you for the great analysis of summary. I wish we
had more answers, but we appreciate the questions.

Speaker 2 (05:46):
All right, Bob, My pleasure.
