Speaker 1 (00:00):
Okay, Lena four percent. Here's what we're looking at. Commissioner's
Court members rank by net approval rating. I got twenty
six percent, twenty five percent, nineteen percent for four members.
Then there's Judge Lena Hidalgo at four percent. Unbelievable. That
seems impossible. Cindy Siegel, Harris County GOP chair, with reaction
to that, Cindy, good.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
Morning, Good morning.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
Well tell us about it.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
I'm not surprised.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Can you tell us tell us a little bit more there,
seeing I think we have a little delay here in
our communication, so it sounds like we're talking over each other.
But yeah, go ahead and take it away from there.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
So I'm not surprised. I think we've all seen that
Lena's failed leadership, from wanting to raise taxes at a
time that people are struggling already with you know, huge
property taxes, her programs that you know, basically benefit a
few handful of people, the corruption in her departments that

(01:02):
we've seen, her bid rigging, it's just gone on and on,
and I think, you know, it's time for a change
in leadership. Obviously we felt that for you know, ever
since she took over when she was what twenty seven
and had no experience, but I'm not surprised. I think
the Democrats have a huge problem if she ends up

(01:25):
hitting up her ticket or their ticket in Harris County.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
Yeah, and just to be clear, so everybody knows where
that four percent comes from. The poll was of twenty
three hundred registered voters about their opinions of elected officials
and potential candidates for twenty twenty six Harris County judge election,
and the favorability rating is calculated by those who approve
of those who do not approve. She has forty five
percent of the respondent say they do approve of her job,

(01:53):
forty one percent disapproved. So therefore there's the net four percent,
So she still does have, you know, almost half of
the at least according to the survey of the voters
still willing to say, yeah, she's doing a decent job.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
Well, I mean, it's always a stap shot in time.
I think we're going to see, you know, based upon
what we've seen though, ever since she took over that
her approval ratings continue to decline. And I think even
in the Democrat Party, Bob, they recognize that you've got
some serious contenders you've already said that they're going to

(02:28):
run for county judge and the Democrat Party as well
as the Republican Party.

Speaker 1 (02:33):
Yeah, there's going to be some options, as I understand it.
And and every time I sit in for Jimmy and
I talk to the folks, you know, I hear the
same thing about Lena Hidalgo every single time. But yet
she always manages to survive. She's got staying power, or
at least has to this point anyway that it really
kind of defies a belief given the perception that I

(02:56):
get from her. What do you think the secret is?
Why has she been able to hold done for so long?

Speaker 2 (03:02):
Well, I think she has appealed to a certain demographic,
you know, younger, Hispanic, But I think people they're opening
up their eyes. And the fact is what she's done,
her lack of approval for the constables, you know, not
being concerned about really what is supposed to be county services.

(03:25):
You know, they're supposed to take care of the infrastructure.
There's supposed to make sure you're safe. And the fact
is people don't feel safe in Harris County and she
doesn't want to pay the constables.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
Well that's a very very important point and hopefully the
people of Harris County will wake up and realize this
and perhaps remove her after so many, so many failed
attempts to do so in the past. Cindy Siegal, Harris
County gopeach share with the reaction to the poll four
percent that support for Lena Headalgo. Cindy, thank you so much,
have a great weekend.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
