I'm Jimmy Barrett along with Sheriff Fryar Monger. Top stories
as we get started this morning. Democrats are spending big
time election add money in Texas and Florida. A majority
want to eliminate the electoral college. And coming up at
five oh eight COVID PTSD at the supermarket details in

the minutes ahead.
Speaker 4 (00:38):
You're in Houston's Boring News.
Speaker 3 (00:39):
First, check out that still wearing their masks. It's not
that sky Mike. Okay, you have toilet paper at home,
let's hope. So what's going on with the drive.
Speaker 5 (00:49):
I'll tell you one thing. Everybody watch out. Can I
get an extra ninja on the East Text southbound at Tidwell.
There's a stall center lane bigger than Dallas. The problem
is it's not very well litten. There's one HPD just
sitting there, and I really would like to see two
or three ninjas right there. East Tech southbound at Tidwell
and other than that, freeways are rocket along. We're gonna

at your official severe weather station, News Radio seven forty KTRH.
Speaker 4 (01:40):
It is time now for the news. Here's Sheriff Fryer.
Speaker 6 (01:43):
It is now five oh two on news radio seven
forty k TRH. Our top story, this is our Donald
Trump returns to Michigan today to rally supporters at Saginaw
State University. He met with private donors in Houston last night, though,
adding to the MAGA war chest, even as the DNC
and Democrats continue to pour hundreds of millions of dollars
into flipping red states, including Texas.
Speaker 7 (02:06):
There is a reason Democrats are spending so much money
in Texas.
Speaker 8 (02:10):
They believe they may have an opportunity. And the only
way you maximize the opportunities to spend money. The bottom line,
if you ask me, is that they've got more money
than they know what to do with.
Speaker 7 (02:19):
Political analyst Bill Miller told KTRH, despite this huge amount
of spending, the Democrats likely won't be able to flip Texas.
Speaker 8 (02:26):
I think that their prospects are dim, but you know,
they've got candidates and races, and they've probably made promises
to support them.
Speaker 7 (02:34):
Miller says, they're essentially just making a bet with spare
cash because they fully funded all their other races. Ethan
Buchanan News Radio seven forty KTRH.
Speaker 6 (02:42):
Well, this from the Pew Research Center, very liberal, claiming
that the majority sixty three percent of Americans favor moving
away from an electoral college system of electing the presidency
to a popular vote.
Speaker 9 (02:54):
You know, the mob wins to elect the president.
Speaker 6 (02:57):
Has Von Spakowsky, with a heritage found says we need
the electoral college system now more than ever.
Speaker 10 (03:05):
New York City alone has a bigger population than thirty
nine individual states. The electronic college system forces candidates to
try to get people throughout the country. I find a
majority of Americans say, you know, we actually should keep
the electoral college.
Speaker 9 (03:20):
Yeah, he says.
Speaker 6 (03:21):
Constitutional amendments to do away with it usually falls short
because they don't have enough.
Speaker 9 (03:27):
Real support to actually pass.
Speaker 6 (03:30):
Deathtoll has risen from Hurricane Helene is now counting one
hundred and eighty nine deaths. Hundreds of people though still
unaccounted for and very little hope that they would be
found alive. Search dogs combing mud and debris now East Tennessee,
West North Carolina, northern Georgia. That's where entire rural towns
were swept away in the mountainous terrain. Information, though, is
(03:54):
slowly coming out Asheville, even as a city, was hard hit.
Speaker 11 (04:00):
We understand these odd difficult times where one and we're
committed to standing by our community.
Speaker 6 (04:07):
Yeah, it's community that's having to do the work, not
getting much help from the state or the feds. Buncome
County Sheriff Quinton Miller rescue teams are assisting helping locate
people stranded in these towns. Many of these have been
cut off from the outside world for an entire week.
Now over a million people still without power from Florida
(04:29):
to Virginia. Meantime, it's day three now of a strike
involving East Coast and Gulf Coast port workers that includes Houston.
No end in sight yet. Trucker's warning they're stuck in
the middle of all this. They got nothing to haul.
John as Sparsa, president of the Texas Trucking Association, says
it could affect holiday shopping if you've already started, well,
(04:51):
the shelves are going to get bare.
Speaker 12 (04:54):
September is holiday season for the trucking industry. You're seeing
a lot of freight intended for Christmas moving in the
September and October Timeframet.
Speaker 9 (05:03):
Yeah, he says.
Speaker 6 (05:04):
Even when the strike ends, there's going to be a
lag doc workers asking for increased salaries, a ban on automation,
which threatens their jobs. Houston in better position to deal
with a port strike though than many of other cities affected.
Speaker 5 (05:18):
That's because of our petroleum exports.
Speaker 13 (05:20):
They're not impacted as much. Most of them are container
ships and things like that. So because of that in
Houston and because you're right at the port.
Speaker 5 (05:29):
But Foxes Phil Flint's as events in the middle East
could change things.
Speaker 13 (05:32):
The missile attack on Israel really raises the risks that
the Israel may attack Iran oil infrastructure. So the world's
going to need our oil.
Speaker 14 (05:40):
And he says if this drags on, it'll only be
weeks before were as impacted as everyone else. Cliff Saunders,
News Radio seven forty KTRH.
Speaker 6 (05:49):
It's now five oh five Federal reserve half point drop
in interest rates has failed to rally the stock market
in any significant way. Now the focus is on company earnings.
Speaker 15 (06:00):
Markets are going to be very focused on the outlook,
on the guidance. They're going to be listening to those
third quarter conference calls, listening for what companies give about
their future outlook.
Speaker 6 (06:10):
As kt H money man patchen He says, a stock
market is forward looking. It means they're trying to make
their investments based off predictions for how things will look
in six months. Oh, everything depends on the presidential election.
What an actual number though, on how inflation is actually
(06:31):
affecting you, Jimmy, did you know there's a tool for that.
Speaker 16 (06:36):
The Heritage Foundation's new inflation calculator can show people how
much more they've had to pay over the last few years.
Speaker 17 (06:42):
Such an incredibly powerful tool, but it's also really easy
to use, and you can customize it to fit your
own life.
Speaker 16 (06:49):
Public finance economists at the Heritage Foundation ej Antoni says,
one way to see inflation come down is electing a
new leader.
Speaker 17 (06:56):
I think we need new policies, and unfortunately, I think
the only way you get that is with new leadership.
Speaker 16 (07:02):
In Washington, inflation has gone down over the past year,
but is still above two point five percent. Char Lewis

Speaker 3 (07:09):
Already have a tool. It's called a checking account. See
every day how much it costs makes.
Speaker 6 (07:16):
Those stories about those hidden bank accounts a lot more.
To the point it is now five oh seven. Well,
I shouldn't be laughing.
Speaker 9 (07:25):
I don't.
Speaker 6 (07:26):
There's no joy in Mudville today. Astros fell to the
Tigers five to two. Is a wild card Wednesday afternoon.
It ends the season. It's the first time since twenty
sixteen that the Stros has fallen short of the.
Speaker 3 (07:38):
Alcy Baltimore lost to Kansas City too. That al central
from worse to first Look at that.
Speaker 9 (07:44):
I mean, isn't that amazing?
Speaker 18 (07:45):

Speaker 9 (07:46):
Well, that's the way the old ball bounces.
Speaker 6 (07:49):
As they say, I'm shererif Ryer on news radio seven

Speaker 5 (07:53):
The tools you need to take on the day news
in the morning, weather and traffic.
Speaker 1 (07:58):
This is Houston's Morning News, Jimmy Barrett and Sheriff Fryar.
Speaker 3 (08:03):
Stop me if you've heard this before. Panic at the supermarket,
mainly right now at the warehouse stores, you know, the Costco,
Sam's Club, Bjay's. Those folks where all and this is
all across the country. Back I'll have some reports for
you this morning from Phoenix, from New Orleans. This is
happening from New Jersey. This is happening all across the country.
(08:25):
Thank you to the dock workers' strike. People are panic
buying water and toilet paper. Now, I realized that this
will probably fall on deaf ears and most most of
y'all know this already. But you realize, of course, that
most of the toilet paper we use is made here
in the United States. It's not coming from overseas. Same
(08:47):
thing for the bottle of water. There's not going to
be a shortage. This is not a trucker strike. This
is a port strike. There's no shortage. Well, there may
be a shortage, but there's no natural shortage of toilet
paper or water right now? Why y' all buying water
and toilet paper? What dumbasses are out there stocking up
on this stuff. I've seen shopping carts full of palets
(09:09):
of water. Do you not have water at your house?
Why are you panic buying water? For God's sakes, it's
not a hurricane coming, it's not a power outage, it's
a port strike. Those are the folks I'm angry at.
But I'm not angry at you because if you're out
there doing it, you're doing it. Why because of these
(09:30):
other people who are panic buying, Well, hell, they're buying
all this stuff. If I don't buy a palette of
water and toilet paper, there won't be any for me,
And that's how panic buying gets going.
Speaker 4 (09:44):
But there's no shortage, Well, some of.
Speaker 6 (09:46):
Them are just moving in advance. They're not reacting too.
They're looking at winter's still coming. We're still in a
hurricane We're still in a hurricane season. We are, you know,
doubtful that one's going to hit us now, but it doesn't.
Speaker 3 (09:59):
End about hurricane season. Don't you think they would have
bought in a couple of days before the dock workers strike.
Why do the buy it now we have a.
Speaker 6 (10:06):
Strike, we have winter coming. Things got depleted while you're
busy dealing with other things. It's not as though we
haven't had things to deal with. I've let a lot
of my backstock start to slide because I thought, well,
you know, we got through the worst of it. But
you know you need to replenish as you burn down
as you go through.
Speaker 3 (10:25):
So natural replenishment is fine. That's not what's happening. This
is not natural replenishment.
Speaker 8 (10:32):
Water.
Speaker 9 (10:32):
I buy it.
Speaker 6 (10:33):
I always buy two cases at a time. Unless it
gets down, I always make sure I have a certain
number of cases of water.
Speaker 19 (10:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (10:38):
Sure, I'm not talking about people buying two cases of water.
I'm talking about people having a sharping a shopping cart
full of ballets of water.
Speaker 9 (10:44):
Well, it's not going to get cheaper. There's also that.
Speaker 3 (10:48):
I think we've met part of the problem. She's sitting
next to me, five five eleven.
Speaker 5 (10:52):
That's a great business idea, Skymike's toilet paper warehouse.
Speaker 4 (10:56):
There you go. That's right.
Speaker 5 (10:58):
We stuck a single superdome side. Did you know that
giant toilet paper like we have in our bathrooms? Do
you know where that was invented where they invented it
in the Supernome for one of the Super Bowls because
they got tired of having to change out normal size rolls.
Speaker 4 (11:11):
I had no idea a major friends.
Speaker 5 (11:13):
With useless facts here, let's go to the north side.
I could do this because we don't have that much
going on. But uh, this is a big charman. But
North Freeway southbound at the loot that looks like a
stall dirty is eyes over on the always on the
exchange ramp. That's a bad spot. There had a possible. Yeah,
it's not good to look out inbound if you're coming
in from cross timbers. That might cause a bit of
(11:34):
a back quarterer slip when the Ninjas get there. On
the south side Golf Freeways looking good league city, What
are you doing besides being rich? We're twenty two minutes
up into downtown and coming up to eighty eight. No
problems so far. We'll have the pavement or repair against
today at Highway six. I just don't know what time,
So I just don't know what direction. Skymike and the

Center from r KTRH top tax Defenders twenty four hour
with the center Jeff Mars infro Terry. Today, she's nursing
that throat at hers. What do you got planned for
is more hot weather?
Speaker 20 (12:03):
Yeah, we have got some more hot and dry weather
coming up today and tomorrow afternoon. Then we'll introduce a
few showers and storms this weekend as an area blow
pressure develops in the Gulf, but it looks like that
system will remain pretty disorganized and most of the heavy
rain as we head towards next week will be across
portions of Florida. For US today, clear this morning, a
Sunday afternoon at the ninety one overnight clear down to
seventy three, another hot wind tomorrow, sunshine behind the low nineties.
(12:26):
Then for the weekend it will be partly to mostly
cloudy on Saturday and Sunday, with an occasional shower thunderstorm
each day, especially at the coast, with highs in the
upper eighties to low nineties.

little crazy, so stand by for that first though. We've

There you go, sky Mane.
Speaker 5 (13:04):
I just I have a friend that used to work there.
I get excited when she does the id. Let's do
forty five North Freeway southbound. It's the loop. I want
you to be super duper careful here. There's a stall
in the ramp and it's right before the divide too,
so let's look out. You're coming out from cross numbers.
It's not spackling up your main lanes. I got Megan
from Keema on the Katie Freeway.
Speaker 21 (13:23):
Morning Skymike exit seven six one A as an Apple.
There is a stalled vehicle literally right in the exit
and it's kind of dunk over there.
Speaker 5 (13:36):
I wish I knew exit numbers. Y'all got to give
me a crush street guys. We'll see if we can
zume it and figure out where that's at. Skymike and

(14:06):
It's time to check out some of our top stories
here on this Thursday morning.
Speaker 6 (14:09):
Here's shri It is now five twenty two on news
Radio seven forty KTRH. The strike of US doc workers
apparently triggering panic buying, as Jimmy is telling us, and
retailers apparently too. They're seeing greater demand for things like paper,
products of all things, and disinfectant sprays. That's understandable on
the East Coast certainly, you know after hurricanes you need
(14:31):
disinfect us.
Speaker 4 (14:31):
This is like COVID part two.
Speaker 9 (14:33):
Hello, Donald Trump.
Speaker 6 (14:35):
Back to campaigning in Michigan today after that quiet stop
here in Houston. A private fundraiser hosted Tellman for Tita's
Posto Hotel yesterday. Don't know how many millions he raked
in on that one. Betting on the twenty twenty four election.
It's going to be allowed once again. There was a
brief halt Federal Appeels Court, though has ruled against the
(14:55):
original judge, a Commodity Futures Trading Commission. It was the government,
the agency that argued allowing betting would undermine election intex.
Speaker 4 (15:08):
Yeah, that's what's underlying.
Speaker 6 (15:09):
It'll just go against the poles. Maybe it'll be the
most honest pole of all. Huh. Latest news anytime at

This just is your guests is as good as ours.
Speaker 21 (15:27):
What happens next?
Speaker 4 (15:28):
Man on news.
Speaker 5 (15:29):
Radio seven four KTRH.
Speaker 3 (15:33):
So they're out there buying toilet paper by the gross,
and they're out there buying water by you know, the
shopping car full of pallets because the panic buying is
setting in all across the country thanks to the dock
workers strike. I already reeled on that once. Let's get
a report on what's going on in New Orleans. Some
man on the street stuff.
Speaker 8 (15:52):
I mean, I came here.
Speaker 5 (15:53):
I've never seen It's like Christmas time right here. It's craziness.
Speaker 22 (15:55):
Poor workers are on strike demanding more money and protection
from automation. But when work at the port stomps, the
question is will there be ripple effects.
Speaker 23 (16:05):
I'm guessing enough shorts run there won't be much of
an effect, but if the lasts long enough, we might
be able to see some shortages on the shelves.
Speaker 22 (16:12):
Qui Lane Business Associate Professor Daniel Moshn says what leads
to shortages is irrational panic buying.
Speaker 23 (16:19):
People are buying things, not necessarily because they are shortages,
but because they're seeing other people panic.
Speaker 24 (16:25):
And the people in there, God, they try to run
over you and stuff like that, just trying to rush
to get the next thing. But it's just crazy and.
Speaker 22 (16:34):
Like we always see, it's those necessary items consumers flying
off the shelves when people panic buying.
Speaker 24 (16:41):
Ooh god, it was a madhouse, you know. They were
out of tall paper, paper towel, distorted just about empty.
Speaker 22 (16:47):
Sam's Club shoppers saying that was exactly the case the
outlet's metory location.
Speaker 5 (16:52):
I was trying to buy tall paper in paper towels
with their others.
Speaker 22 (16:56):
Concerned about the accessibility of fresh fruit that.
Speaker 25 (16:59):
Came to Sam's because we were worried about the fruits,
and so we wanted to stack up and wanted to
see what was gonna be available. We were very curious
as to how the strike was going to affect the produce.
Speaker 22 (17:15):
Chilling Professor Gary Hoover told me, Now, if the strike
wraps up soon, we won't see any impacts, but if
it drags on the toilet paper and water, your panic
buying will dissipate ultimately less of a product, higher the price.
Speaker 5 (17:29):
I mean, I'm sure prices are going to go up.
There already going up, but that's not my concern.
Speaker 22 (17:33):
If it's available, Professor Hoover says, the impacts will only
last as long as the strike itself.
Speaker 4 (17:39):
I don't care how much it costs. Give me toilet paper,
but hey, I.
Speaker 6 (17:43):
Just can't get past that Australian accent out of New Orleans.
Speaker 4 (17:46):
Aren't that crazy?
Speaker 3 (17:46):
That was very jarring? Do you hear that it was?
I'm sorry I was a little shock. I love the
fact that they managed to find the one person in
New Orleans who was panic buying fruit.
Speaker 6 (17:58):
Manuseuse it don't last very long because I don't think
there's a lot of people out there panic buying fruit.
Speaker 3 (18:05):
You know, they're they're worried about the toilet paper in
the water, which is manufactured here, but they're not worried
about the fruit which is coming from overseas. Anyway, it's rationality,
doesn't you know? There is no rationality involved in any
of this. Five twenty six. It is time to take
a look at your money. Lisa Potatoes in this morning.
Speaker 26 (18:24):
Hey, good morning. We have futures falling. Investors kind of
shifting their attention to tomorrow's US payrolls data for more
clues on the Federal Reserve's next policy move. Now today
we get some initial jobles claims for last week. The
possibility of a wider Middle East conflict. Well, that's extending
oil's rally right now, Brent crude and WTI crewed up
more than two percent. We have Brent crud at seventy
five dollars a barrel, WTI crewed at seventy one dollars

for open Ai, the artificial intelligence giant. It raised six
point six billion dollars in its latest funding round, value
in the company at one hundred and fifty seven billion dollars,
one of the largest ever private investments, and move over
Gold Costco adding an even more precious metal to its offerings, platinum.
(19:06):

workers strike, touching off panic buying, the shutdown of East
Coast Gulf Coast ports, leaving thousands of shipping containers on docks. Today,
ships idling offshore, even off the coast of Houston, and
some retailers report greater demand. Now forget this paper products
(21:18):
and disinfectant sprays. Officials say the strike, if lasting, will
first be affecting prices on the imports like fruit, alcohol,
and even lumber. And it's continued war though on fossil fuel.
The Biden Harris regime hasn't held any new oil and
gas lease sales this year. The last time this happened
was in nineteen fifty eight.
Speaker 7 (21:41):
This means that America is becoming more dependent on other
countries for energy.
Speaker 29 (21:45):
He did not have horizontal drilling and fracking, this country
would be so dependent on Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and
other countries that people be walking everywhere.
Speaker 7 (21:54):
Jay Young, CEO of King Operating Corporation, says this also
makes it more difficult for oil companies to secure more
long term investments.
Speaker 29 (22:02):

State Department spokesman Matthew Miller says, Biden Harris regime meeting

(22:43):
in the Gaza war now extended to Lebanon and Syria.
Speaker 30 (22:48):
When you're trying to put together a deal, you have
to have the parties themselves engage, and over the last
few weeks Hamas has been unwilling for whatever reason.
Speaker 6 (22:56):
To engage, IDs says, and it strikes into Lebanon on
more than one hundred and fifty terrorist infrastructure sites that's
a quote have been destroyed, including weapons storage facilities and
rocket launchers that are used by Hesbola. Some of the
United States' biggest foes. They're all aligning against us, some
(23:16):
of them together, some very secretly. Not just with military
action either. The bigger plan, especially from China, is to
destroy our economic dominance.
Speaker 17 (23:28):
Iran has certain capabilities, the Chinese have certain capabilities, and
suddenly they're supplying the Russians anywhere where they can work
collaboratively to push back against the United States or American
interests they view as a good day.
Speaker 6 (23:46):
That's national security analyst Edward Tarzansky. He says, US leadership
has failed to prevent these major players from advancing their
collaborative anti American interest Yeah, they're moving on us, and
the government's not stopping them. The threat of nuclear war
is growing more ominous too.
Speaker 31 (24:07):
Russian and President Vladimir Putin recently announced changes to the
rules on when it can use nuclear weapons and a
warning to those that support Ukraine. Retired Air Force Brigadier
General Rob Spaulding tells Fox we are veering toward a
modern day repeat of the Cuban missile crisis.
Speaker 32 (24:21):
We had kids practicing to duck under desks. We were
mobilizing forces. We were flying U two's and bombers, and
that was the closest we believe we were coming to
nuclear war. I would say that we're probably even closer
than we were then.
Speaker 31 (24:37):
At the same time putin hints at using nukes. North
Korea has threatened to use them, and Iran is bragging
about its nuclear enrichment program. Cory Jolson, who's Radio seven

Kamala Harris.
Speaker 33 (24:58):
Kamala Harris is at faull for the Inflation Explosion Act.
Kamala Harris is at fault for the explosion in federal
spending that drove inflation through the roof.
Speaker 6 (25:09):
No response from her running made Tim Walls in Pennsylvania
along with Senator John Fetterman. Now that's a pair. Harris
has yet to hold a news conference, but she continues
to tout her so called opportunity economy.
Speaker 9 (25:26):
So what exactly does that mean.
Speaker 34 (25:30):
Sharah Burton Abrams is an economist and retired professor and
says Kamala is trying to be Mamola and expand the nanny.
Speaker 18 (25:39):
State, the reference to Mamala in the paternalistic state where
the government is going to be our parent who taking
care of.
Speaker 34 (25:47):
Us, which all sounds good, But as for the economic
plan itself.
Speaker 18 (25:52):
It's worse than dumb. It's disastrous as well, just an
extremely wasteful economic policy.

Speaker 6 (26:06):
Now layoffs underway, and Hollywood and corporate media as a
continue forcing liberal agendas and narratives, and Americans are wising
up to it all. An all time low of only
thirty percent of Americas now trust the media and its players.
Speaker 19 (26:21):
It was only a matter of time before it was
going to start affecting their bottom line. So with all
these layoffs that we're seeing in all these leptist media empires,
it's all a result of catering to their own political
biases rather than delivering straight news to the people.
Speaker 6 (26:36):
Yeah, and a failing economy doesn't help either. That was

Speaker 3 (27:15):
All right, do you are you? This is something I
do every day. That's why I'm asking do you check
your bank account? Like every day or sometimes multiple times
per day. I think I check my maybe every three
or four times per day. I am completely paranoid about
digital banking, and one of these days there is going
(27:36):
to be a glitch at my bank, like there was
a glitch at Bank of America, and I'm going to
look up my account and it's going to show I've
got no money in my account, and I'm going to
scream at the top of my lungs, which I will
not demonstrate for you now it's too early in the morning.
But I will scream at the top of my lungs
in full blown panic, where's my money. That's a tone version.
Speaker 6 (28:00):
By the way, well, mobile banking on Sunday, I couldn't
get into the server.
Speaker 4 (28:05):
All that happens all the time, check check back, and
I thought, uh, huh.
Speaker 6 (28:09):
You know, for those of us who live a different
life schedule, we do things not during normal working hours exactly.
And hmm, that's a little alarming.
Speaker 4 (28:21):
Yes, Bank of America.
Speaker 6 (28:22):
I thought the whole point of mobile banking was because
you could have access at all times.
Speaker 4 (28:26):
Exactly right.
Speaker 3 (28:27):
It's like my bank the app has a glitch every
now and again where it won't let me pay a bill,
you know, it just it'll just kick me out for
no reason. Years I can tell. But for Bank of America,
this was a bigger glitch. They had an outage yesterday
afternoon that left some customers showing a bouans of zero
dollars in their accounts. In other words, you could get
on but everything was zero in the account. Issue began
(28:51):
at about twelve forty seven in the afternoon. They got
within a matter of a few minutes to get over
twenty thousand customer complaints and in worries at Bank of
America Online asking where the hell is my money. They
managed to get the glitch fixed, but again panic was
setting in for a lot of folks. Bank of America
(29:11):
is a very very big bank. I have no idea
how many customers they have, Oh man, I do. It's
the second largest US bank behind JP Morgan. They have
sixty nine million domestic consumer and small business clients. I
don't know how many of them had a balance to zero.
But with those kinds of numbers, I mean that could
very easily overwhelm the Internet in very short order. Yeah,
(29:33):
that's a scary, scary thought. Five forty time for traffic
and weather together diversified, yes year.
Speaker 5 (29:39):
Yeah, your some in a jar in the yard, some
in your sock, some in your microwave, some.
Speaker 4 (29:44):
Of your how much you got under the mattress? Guy? Man,
oh I do you know?

All right, President Biden yesterday blaming climate change for Helene
and the destruction that occurred after his share just told you,
finally activating the US military to come help.
Speaker 9 (34:49):
Sort of. We don't know how soon they'll get there,
sure enough.
Speaker 3 (34:52):
We also get reaction in this clip from Residence on
just how bad it is, and Dana Pirno reacts to
it all this.
Speaker 36 (35:01):
Nobody can deny the impact of climate crisis anymore, at
least I hope they don't. They must be brained, and
if they do. Scientists report that with warming oceans powering
more intense rains, storms like clean are getting stronger and stronger,
not going to get not going to get less, They're
going to get stronger.
Speaker 15 (35:19):
There's no power, there's no water, there's no internet, there's
no cell phone coverage.
Speaker 5 (35:26):
We're just in it's a disaster. Just pray for everybody here.
Speaker 9 (35:30):
Everything's replaceable.
Speaker 29 (35:32):
Life is not no water, barely at food, everything expiring
in our fridge.
Speaker 22 (35:38):
FEMA is not on the ground there at all. They
are not in these cities, not in these towns, and
not in these villages.
Speaker 37 (35:46):
This part of the country is so beautiful, and there's
a reason you want to live up in the mountains
and in the hallers, with the creeks and the beauty
that it provides. But one of the problems is then
you can't reach them unless you're buy mule and starlink
is babulous. But also there's no power. So this started.
This happened Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. Okay, today,
(36:09):
this is the first day that the Biden administration authorized
the military to go in and help. Yeah, the military
is probably the only entity that can help. FEMA can
do a lot, and they can do more, and that
one one was asking for more. There's another town called
Black Mountain, North Carolina. I interviewed a woman from there today.
She's a teacher. She said, twenty three of their teachers
are missing. Schools are closed indefinitely. This is a massively
(36:33):
catastrophic event for our fellow citizens, and we have to
do a lot more. Their biggest concern, Greg, is that
we are going to forget about them. And I know
that Fox won't forget about them. I don't think that
the government necessarily will forget about them. But they are very,
very hard to reach places, and many of them are
probably going to have to leave in order to spend
(36:53):
the time to rebuild because there's not even any roads.
Speaker 3 (36:56):
Yeah, it's fly over country for the mainstream media and
for a lot of people.
Speaker 9 (37:00):
It's hard for us Washington.
Speaker 6 (37:01):
So I actively am looking for information almost every day
because I cannot believe you know that we don't care
about hundreds and hundreds of Americans who are missing right
here in our country.
Speaker 9 (37:12):
Yeah, And you can't.
Speaker 6 (37:14):
Get information, and I don't know if it's deliberate or
if it's just the fact that things are so bad
it's hard.
Speaker 9 (37:20):
You can't get communications out of there.
Speaker 4 (37:21):
That's part of it. I think it's a little bit
of both. Quite honestly. I saw it. Did see a
video piece that just to give you folks an idea
your sister.
Speaker 6 (37:28):
I mean, you were able to get your sister out
of Ashville, but she's living in a hotel.
Speaker 3 (37:32):
Two hours north of Ashville. Yeah, she's found even in
Nashville at the moment. I saw a report yesterday, you know,
of locals trying to get supplies to people in the mountains,
and most of the roads are you know, have gone
from a two lane road to maybe the size of
a path. There are people with mules in horseback that
(37:54):
are diversing what's left of these roads, trying to get
some supplies back to these people's that's the kind of
devastat we're talking about here.
Speaker 6 (38:01):
They were talking about I forget what the number was,
but it was trillions of gallons of water that fell,
trillions of gallons.
Speaker 4 (38:09):
All coming down from a mountain into these are.
Speaker 6 (38:11):
Rushing down a mountain. You can imagine the force of that.
Of course, it just swept houses and entire towns off
their foundations in those mountains.

Speaker 5 (39:05):
All right, I got something else coming in at the
six ' ten report about two ninety, But this is weird.
Two ninety inbound is completely shut down. It's a vehicle
fire in front of Bucke's at three sixty two. This
is all inbound lanes are blocked on the main lanes.
They're putting you on the feeder road. The best thing
is to jump off at James Muse Parkway. Do they
call it there? There Meuse Parkway and get on Business
(39:25):
two ninety and you can get right back on right
after three sixty two. So that's the way around it.
By the way, the news shoppers can't go there. They
have some kind of flight restriction.
Speaker 4 (39:33):
I don't know why.

Here's Sheriff fryar So one on news Radio seven forty
KTRHS News sponsored by all Star Construction. Top story this hour,
No slow down to President Donald Trump in Houston last
night for a fundraiser hosted by Tilman Fertita. He rallied
spirits here and today goes to back to Michigan Saginaw
for a big rally there. It's his eleventh trip to
(40:19):
the battleground state this election cycle. But Democrats, what they're
doing is selling out huge amounts of money in advertising
anti Trump adds all across the country and here in
Florida and Texas to especially in the down ballot races.
How do these Democrats always have so much money for
(40:39):
candidates that likely can't win in red states.
Speaker 8 (40:44):
There are a number of people kind of on the
national platform that are very very wealthy, that support democratic causes,
and so I think that those people support the national.
Speaker 6 (40:54):
Candidate as political analysts Bill Miller, he says, basically, Democrats
use their extra cash or they bring in donors specifically
to place beds in states where they think they may
have a small chance at victory down ballot. You got
a hot Senate race here right now. According to a
new Pew Research study, it's a majority of Americans who
(41:16):
want to move away from an electoral college and just
have popular vote to elect the president.
Speaker 34 (41:23):
Share US sixty three percent would prefer to have a
popular vote.
Speaker 10 (41:27):
Those kind of holes are a bit deceptive because when
you actually explain to people, I have found that they
basically change their mind.
Speaker 34 (41:36):
That's political commentator Hans von Spakowski, who says the electoral
college is still the best option.
Speaker 10 (41:43):
Well, the founders they realize that if you just have
an election for president based on national popular vote, then
candidates would simply go to the big city and they
would ignore the rest of the country.
Speaker 34 (41:55):
Two thirds of Democrats are in favor of a popular vote,
with forty six percent four Republicans. Jeff Biggs news for
Radio seven forty kt H.
Speaker 6 (42:07):
Joe Biden heading to North Carolina for an aerial tour
of the flooding devastation from Hurricane Helene. Asheville, North Carolina
resident Aaron Smith says his family is living out of
a single just one suitcase.
Speaker 1 (42:23):
Now we have one suitcase, reallyant so trying to figure
out four, four people and a dog out of one suitcase.
Speaker 5 (42:32):
It's the most surreal.
Speaker 6 (42:35):
Yeah, FEMA rescue teams they weren't pre stationed. They're now
coming in and they're having to be brought in from
across the country to help the North Carolina National Guard,
which is asking for help from everywhere. People are stranded
still in flooded mountain towns in the western part of
the state. Property damage from the storm estimated just there
(42:57):
to already be in the billions of dock workers on
the East and Gulf Coast. Day three of their strike.
Stu Leonard, who owns supermarkets across this country, worries that
shoppers are really going to start feeling the pinch soon.
Speaker 3 (43:12):
So there's a ripple effect that it's going to clog
up the supply chack.
Speaker 9 (43:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (43:17):
Port workers have halted the flow of about half this
nation's ocean shipping after negotiations for a new labor contract
broke down over wages, but most importantly over automation at
the ports. And analyst Warren, this disruption is costing our
economy billions of dollars a day. It is now six
(43:39):
oh five Houston, because of our oil exports and our
local control of a lot of our portage, better equipped
to deal with this strike than most other cities. But
Fox News oil analysts Phil Flynn says that might actually
change soon.
Speaker 13 (43:56):
I think a matter of weeks. I mean, it's really
going to come down to the ability of the UF
producers to produce. And let's face it, the risk to
oil supplies is huge right now, bigger than it's been
in a generation.
Speaker 6 (44:08):
Yeah, and the situation in the Middle East is a
lot of it, but here locally, the Biden Harris administration,
the regime, they have yet to restock our oil strategic reserves,
the ones they depleted in over to lower gasoline prices
for all of us originally before the twenty twenty two
men term, but they've been doing it again.
Speaker 9 (44:29):
With this election.
Speaker 6 (44:31):
We spent much of the last quarter wondering what the
Federal Reserve was going to do with interest rates. But
now that they've started cutting, well, when will things start
to change?
Speaker 15 (44:40):
The markets are what I call forward looking. That means
literally the market's trying to guess what the headlines will
be six months from now.
Speaker 6 (44:50):
KTRH money man Pat schen He says, markets are going
to be refocused now on earning reports, future outlooks, and
that's what they're going to base their in investments on.
According to reports, mortgage refinances they've gone, they've increased by
twenty percent since the Fed lowered interest rates. Kathy Baker,
(45:10):
president of Baker Mortgage here in Houston, says, most people, though,
were still waiting for rates to be lowered even more.
Speaker 38 (45:19):
I think they are, and I think in a lot
of cases it makes sense to do that we have
seen an increase in refinance applications in the last week
or two where people are paying off high entrance credit cards.
Speaker 6 (45:31):
Yeah, she recommends you talk with someone first who really
knows what they're doing before you do anything. The average
thirty year fixed rate mortgage is now it's thirty years
six point one three percent. Heritage Foundation has a new
inflation calculator tool though. It shows people how the federal
government has affected them personally.
Speaker 9 (45:52):
Me personally, I got to look this up.
Speaker 17 (45:55):
What if maybe you're the typical suburban family for maybe
you're It allows you to fit the numbers to exactly
your scenario, and so you get a real sense of
not only the percent that your expenses have increased, but
it even gives you a dollar amount.
Speaker 9 (46:13):
That's pretty interesting.
Speaker 6 (46:14):
EJ and Tony public public finance economists with the Heritage Foundation.
Speaker 9 (46:18):
He's on with us a lot, Jimmy.
Speaker 6 (46:20):
He says, inflation is the rate is coming down, but
the damage has already been done. Astros Feld to the

(46:41):
I'm sure a Fryar on News radio seven forty KTRH.
Speaker 1 (46:46):
What happened, Why it happened? Jimmy Barrett and Sheriff Fryar
explain it. Now back to Houston's morning news.
Speaker 3 (46:54):
Panic buying going on around the country. We heard from
New Orleans. We'll get another report out of New Jersey
and a one out of Phoenix, Arizona for you here
at least one of those reports coming up this hour.
But I saw, according to import Genius, the top companies
that use the East Coast and Gulf Coast ports for
(47:14):
the most for either importing or exporting or both. And
the list is kind of interesting. Some of them seem
fairly obvious, and some of you might not have thought of.
Number one, the number one user of those ports, General Motors,
GM parts and vehicles coming in going out. Number two Walmart,
as you might expect. So if any, if any retailer
(47:39):
is going to be hurt the most by this is
going to be Walmart because they continue to import a
lot of things from China and that that's going to
be at a holt. Number three LG Electronics, television sets,
you know, refrigerators that are manufactured overseas and sent here.
Number four Mercedes Benz are those of the drive and
(48:00):
Mercedes those are all imported, of course. And number five Ikea, Ikea,
well Scandinavian, sure, exactly right. Those are into the east coast.
Speaker 4 (48:12):
Those are the top five and.
Speaker 6 (48:13):
Coming around because it's really easy to come down to
Houston too, right, exactly. You know it's so easy to
blame it all on the on the strikers, you know. Well,
I'd like to have a fifty pay increase, you know,
But I started looking yesterday. Who are the people who
are negotiating against them? Well, it's a group, as we said,
that represents port, cargo, ships port, the transport and various
(48:38):
Atlantic Alliance associations.
Speaker 9 (48:40):
Well who are these people?
Speaker 6 (48:42):
Well, they're multinationals and they're not all American. They're Turkish,
they're Greek, they're Chinese. Who's who has control of our ports?
After all? Who runs this automation? Who devises this automation?
Is it Chinese? Is this is just another way? So
this is this is bringing to light. This isn't just
(49:05):
good guys, bad guys. This might be foreign interest who
are taking control of our ports. And it's only the
longshoreman standing up with his strike that even brings attention
to it.
Speaker 4 (49:15):
Interesting.
Speaker 9 (49:16):
I don't know. I'd like to find out.

I've got a reported wreck at Kingwood. I believe it
looks It looks like we're already plumb backed up from
Porter and I'm showing at least a twenty minute southbound delay.
If grab Parkway to the Hardy Toll Road is an
option for you, do it instead, Lord Sam westbound that
all the westfield we had an earlier rackets gone. We

That should be gone pretty shortly. And then let's go

What's up?
Speaker 28 (50:13):
It is completely shut down, but it's shut down on

to check in with Jeff Barr and find out. Well,
let's let's do this first step before we get to
the forecast, because we're all kind of keeping an eye
on the tropics and the golf and a little hurricane
out there called Kirk. What can you tell us about
what's going on with that.
Speaker 20 (51:13):
Yeah, we've got two systems that farther out of the Atlantic,
Hurricane Kirk is expected to curve up to the north
and eventually the northeast, so we'll stay away from the US.
And then we've got tropical Storm Leslie farther to the east,
and that one is probably going to strengthen to a
hurricane here in the short term, but once again, not
any immediate threat to the US. As we head towards
the middle of next week, we've got an area of
low pressure close to a home in the Gulf, but
(51:34):
that is going to stay pretty unorganized into the weekend
and eventually probably bring some heavier rains off to the
east towards Florida. For US today, sunny at hot ninety
one clear overnight, we'll drop to seventy three more the
same tomorrow, sunny into the low nineties. That a few
afternoon storms for the weekend otherwise partly to mostly cloud
high should hit uper eighties to low.

highly on the pressure, all at once, Russia, Iran, China,
North Korea, all becoming closer to each other. Are we

Speaker 3 (54:13):
It's feeling like World War III is not that far away.
Edgrews Aski joins US national security expert. Do you take
a look at all the people who are kind of
piling up against us here, Russia, Iran, China, North Korea.
These these are all all nuclear powered countries, with the
possible exception of Iran, and they are probably going to
have nuclear weapons fairly soon. Ed, that's dangerous stuff.
Speaker 11 (54:35):
To me.
Speaker 17 (54:36):
It is not the first time this country's experienced it.
World War Two is the Axius Powers. Then it was
the access of evil in the War on Terror. And
now you have China, Russia, North Korea, and Iran who
are deepening their ties and supporting one another in complementary ways.
(55:00):
So the Russians suddenly find themselves in need of some
technical capabilities, the Chinese pitch in the Russian the Iranians
send the missiles the whole time. And by the way,
keep in mind, that's conscious design. And it's not just
(55:20):
in military matters, it's also in economic matters. And I
go back to Reagan, who very preciently said weakness is provocative.
So if you suddenly pull troops out of Afghanistan, leave
your people and allies behind the way we did, and
(55:42):
leave the Taliban with eighty one billion dollars worth American
worth of American hardware, that sends a message. If you
wind up saying to the Israelis, we're with you, but
don't strike here, don't right there. Yeah, all of this
(56:02):
sends a signal that you're ripe for the taking.
Speaker 6 (56:04):
And NATO marches in and decides it they're going to
put basically a Cuban missile crisis right on the edge
of Russia with Ukraine.
Speaker 9 (56:12):
Well, how is that not provocative?
Speaker 17 (56:15):
Well, so I always say reverse the circumstances. What if
it was happening to us? So let's presume that from
Mexico last week one hundred and eighty one ballistic missiles
were fired at the United States. How likely would we
be to say to other powers, No, we're going to
(56:37):
listen to you, We're going to hold back, We're going
to be very careful about what we strike. Or would
we hit them so hard that they wish they hadn't
been born and we demand of our allies to are
in trouble behavior that we would not tolerate on our
own account. And as I said, these countries coming in
(56:59):
together against us. We're talking about military matters right now.
Let me put something else on the radar screen. The
dollar as the reserve currency for the world. There's a
conscious effort that's building steam to replace the dollar as
the reserve currency. There are many people who say that
(57:20):
can't happen, but understand, the day it does, we're going
to feel the full weight of thirty five point three
trillion dollars in debt. We're adding a trillion dollars every
one hundred days to our national debt. This year, the
debt service is one point one trillion. You're spending about
(57:43):
eight hundred and fifty billion on the Pentagon. How likely
are you to be able to sustain that spending? And
by the way, we're under investing in the military. ID
your serieson know this, We're going to.
Speaker 6 (57:57):
Run out of time, and you don't have time really
to answer this. But I just want to raise a
question because I'm not hearing anyone do it. We have
a major port strike underway, and it's like good guys,
bad guys, except that the people who are negotiating these
contracts this association. A lot of them are multinational corporations.
And how much did the Chinese already control the technology
(58:19):
that actually automates our ports in America?
Speaker 17 (58:25):
Not so much in our country, but throughout Europe and Africa.
Through the Belton Road Program. The Chinese have invested heavily
and they're going to have a stranglehold on commerce, seaborn commerce.
That's the one thing the United States Navy in the
post war world had always thought to preserve seaborn commerce
(58:49):
because we're so dependent on it for import.
Speaker 3 (58:51):
Nextport scary stuff, ed, Thanks for sharing it, though, do
appreciate it. Edgarwsanski, national security expert, in a six twenty seven.

she wins in November, you're not going.
Speaker 29 (01:02:34):
To be producing as much oil and gas in the

you're going to need oil and gas from other countries.

usually would be you would think the defense would be
asking for a delay. No, it's the prosecution, the federal

Speaker 6 (01:08:33):
Oh you mean, the evidence is going to show just
how complex and complicit maybe the federal government.
Speaker 9 (01:08:40):
Was in this whole thing.
Speaker 3 (01:08:42):
Here is exactly here is here is what they're claiming.
This is a quote from the DOJ. The government has
worked diligently since September fifteenth to investigate the incident. Over
the past two weeks, the United States has interviewed hundreds
of witnesses. Is also executed thirteen search warrants in Florida, Hawaii,
(01:09:02):
and North Carolina, and seized hundreds of items of evidence,
including multiple electronic devices. They claim that they have more
than one hundred outstanding subpoena returns that are still pending,
and they estimate they have quote thousands of videos to
review and it's just going to take a long long
time to do it.
Speaker 28 (01:09:19):
All.
Speaker 4 (01:09:20):
They have enough evidence without going through any of that stuff.
Speaker 6 (01:09:23):
And they have to keep all that evidence away from
the Republicans in Congress who are trying to look into
how they mishandled everything. As long as the investigation is underway,
you know, how much do they control? How much can
Florida get its hands on?
Speaker 4 (01:09:37):
Yeah, that's what's really all about.
Speaker 9 (01:09:39):
We've seen this picture show.
Speaker 3 (01:09:41):
Oh yeah, well and it works for years now, it works,
and it's going to work again. Unfortunately here you go.
Now who knows who knows it for? If Trump gets elected,
maybe they get the ball moving on getting a trial going.
Speaker 4 (01:09:54):
If not, it could be years.
Speaker 17 (01:09:56):
Oh.
Speaker 6 (01:09:56):
In meantime, you know, the trial that basically got shut
down that judge Chuckin. You know, the Supreme Court threw
it back to her. She's allowed Jack Smith to release
all this stuff, this long winded stuff before the election,
so that they can use it in order to turn

Get this Fox ten report on panic buying. Thanks to
the port strike in Phoenix, up.
Speaker 40 (01:15:28):
To sixty percent of all imports come into this country
from the East Coast and the Gulf Coast. The good
news mostly it's not the things you find at the store, food, water,
or even toilet paper, but that's not stopping some shoppers
from stocking up. This video from inside a big box
store shows shoppers loading pallets full of toilet paper and
(01:15:49):
water a repeat performance of the pandemic.
Speaker 28 (01:15:52):
Think that I'm stocking up on just everything that I
possibly can because they think the grocery stores are going.
Speaker 18 (01:15:57):

Speaker 40 (01:16:04):
The strike could impact everything from car components to clothes
and some perishable foods like bananas, but not the staples
you find at the store.
Speaker 42 (01:16:12):
Our ports are the front door of the country and
of our supply chains, and they're sort of closed right
now on one side of the country, and especially for
things coming from South and Central America and for Europe,
that's gonna be a big issue.
Speaker 5 (01:16:26):
Roger says.
Speaker 40 (01:16:27):
Most of the items like food, water, toilet paper, and
baby formula are produced in the US and do not
need to be imported, but things like bananas, chocolate, coffee, beans,
and some alcohol do, so they may be delayed and
end up costing more.
Speaker 43 (01:16:42):
It's not really a matter of we're not gonna be
able to get stuff here, because there is other ways
into the country. The problem is they're going to be
more expensive ways, and we will see some inflation, probably
reflected as an impact in the strike.
Speaker 5 (01:16:55):
If the strike goes on for more.
Speaker 40 (01:16:57):
Than two or three weeks, and the longer the strike lasts,
the bigger mark it'll make.
Speaker 4 (01:17:01):

Speaker 9 (01:21:13):
Our top story this hour.
Speaker 6 (01:21:14):
Donald Trump returning to Michigan today, rallying supporters at Saginaw
State University. He met with private donors in Houston last night,
adding to the MAGA war chest. Even as DNC and
Democrats are pouring hundreds of millions of dollars. Have you
seen into all these ads into flipping races in red states,
(01:21:36):
including here in Texas.
Speaker 7 (01:21:39):
There is a reason Democrats are spending so much money
in Texas.
Speaker 8 (01:21:42):
They believe they may have an opportunity. And the only
way you maximize the opportunities to spend money. The bottom line,
if you ask me, is that they've got more money
than they know what to do with.
Speaker 7 (01:21:51):
Political analyst Bill Miller told KTRH. Despite this huge amount
of spending, the Democrats likely won't be able to flip Texas.
Speaker 8 (01:21:58):
I think that their prospect dem but you know, they've
got candidates and races, and they've probably made promises to
support them.
Speaker 7 (01:22:06):
Miller says they're essentially just making a bet with Spear
cash because they fully funded all their other races. Ethan
Buchinnan News radio seven forty KRH.
Speaker 6 (01:22:14):
Now we've got the liberal Pew research that are claiming
that sixty three percent of Americans favor moving away from
an electoral college into a popular vote instead to elect
the president. Hans von Spakowski, with a Herriage Foundation, says, no,
that is a disaster for this country.
Speaker 10 (01:22:35):
New York City alone has a bigger population than thirty
nine individual states. The electoral college system forces candidates to
try to get people throughout the country. I find a
majority of Americans say, you know, we actually should keep
the electoral college.
Speaker 6 (01:22:49):
Yeah, New York California already have huge electoral counts votes,
and they have huge sway over what happens in this
death toll has risen from Hurricane Helene, now counting one
hundred and eighty nine hundred still unaccounted for. Search dogs
have been combing mud and debris in eastern Tennessee, western
(01:23:12):
North Carolina, Northern Georgia, Georgia, where entire rural towns were
swept away and information now finally slowly coming out.
Speaker 11 (01:23:22):
We understand these odd difficult times where everyone and we're
committed to standing by a community.
Speaker 6 (01:23:29):
That is the Wencombe County Sheriff, Quinton Miller in North Carolina. Meantime,
Day three of that strike involving East and Gulf Coast
port workers including Houston, and no end in sight yet.
Trucker's warning they're the ones stuck in the middle of
it all. Johnasparza, president of the Texas Trucking Association, says, yes,
(01:23:50):
primarily going to first effect holiday shopping.
Speaker 12 (01:23:54):
September is holiday season for the trucking industry. You're seeing
a lot of freight intended for Christmas moving into September
and October timeframe.
Speaker 9 (01:24:03):
He says.
Speaker 6 (01:24:04):
Even after a strike ins, there'll be a lag doc
workers asking for increased salaries, but more importantly a ban
on automation. They wanted to keep it at the levels
where it is and that threatens their jobs. Houston in
better position though, to deal with this port strike than
many other of the city's being affected.
Speaker 5 (01:24:26):
That's because of our petroleum exports.
Speaker 13 (01:24:28):
They're not impacted as much. Most of them are container
chips and things like that. So because of that, in Houston,
and because you're right at the port.
Speaker 14 (01:24:36):
But Fox and Phil Flint's has events in the Middle
East could change things.
Speaker 13 (01:24:40):
The missile attack on Israel really raises the risks that
the Israel may attack Iran oil infrastructure.
Speaker 17 (01:24:46):
So the world's going to need our oil.
Speaker 14 (01:24:48):
And he says, if this drags on, it'll only be
weeks before we were as impacted as everyone else. Cliff Saunders,
News Radio seven forty KTRH.
Speaker 6 (01:24:57):
Our news time now is seven oh six. The Federal
Reserve opt interest rates by half a point. What's happening
with the stock market today?
Speaker 15 (01:25:06):
Markets are going to be very focused on the outlook,
on the guidance. They're going to be listening to those
third quarter conference calls, listening for what companies give about
their future outlook.
Speaker 6 (01:25:16):
Yeah, forward looking is what our KTRH money man Pat
Schen says.
Speaker 9 (01:25:21):
They're important. They're counting on.
Speaker 6 (01:25:23):
Also mortgage refinances. There's a boom underway right now, apparently
a twenty percent increase in them because of those lowered
interest rates. But Kathy Baker, president of Baker Mortgage here
in Houston, says is not exactly true.
Speaker 38 (01:25:39):
I don't know that I would call it a refinanced boom.
At this point, interest rates have been trending down, and
that actually started two to three weeks before the Fed announcement.
Speaker 6 (01:25:50):
Yeah, a thirty year mortgage still six over six percent,
She says, How is inflation really affecting me or you
as an individual?
Speaker 9 (01:26:01):
Do you want an actual number? Well, there is a
tool for that.
Speaker 16 (01:26:05):
The Heritage Foundation's new inflation calculator can show people how
much more they've had to pay over the last few years.
Speaker 17 (01:26:11):
Such an incredibly powerful tool, but it's also really easy
to use and you can customize it to fit your
own life.
Speaker 16 (01:26:18):
Public finance economists at the Heritage Foundation EJ. And Tony
says one way to see inflation come down as electing
a new leader.
Speaker 17 (01:26:25):
I think we need new policies, and unfortunately, I think
the only way you get that is with new leadership.
In Washington.
Speaker 16 (01:26:32):
Inflation has gone down over the past year, but is
still above two point five percent. Jared Lewis News Radio

B Ror on News Radio seven forty KTRH A real downer.
Speaker 1 (01:26:54):
I am today Revenge of aj Hinge more with Jimmys
and Sheriff Fryar. This is Houston's Morning News seven to
nine is their time here in Houston's Morning News A right.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis brought up an angle I hadn't
really thought of yesterday. Of all the things that get
(01:27:14):
imported into the United States, there is a particular product
he is concerned about because he has a lot of
folks trying to rebuild from hurricane damage, and there'll be
a lot of folks in North Carolina trying to do
the very, very same thing. Here's the governor yesterday expressing
his concerns.
Speaker 45 (01:27:31):
One of the things I'm concerned about is potentially these
ports getting hung up. I think it's totally unacceptable to
try to intentionally deprive people of the supplies they need
to be able to rebuild their homes when they've been
displaced at a natural disaster. We should be doing all
(01:27:51):
we can, The federal government should be doing all they
can to make sure all the supplies continue to come
in here unabated. And there is is the prospect of
things that are critical for the rehabbing and recovery of
here in other parts of Florida that may get hung
up in some of this work stoppage.
Speaker 5 (01:28:10):
So now is not the time.
Speaker 45 (01:28:12):
You already have people that are reeling, you have people
that are on their backs. Let's do everything we can
to accelerate the relief. Make sure that they have the equipment,
make sure they have the supplies that they need to
be able to rehab their properties and rebuild their homes.
We are looking at if there's anything as in terms
(01:28:33):
of the Florida Ports and my responsibility and authority as
governor to facilitate. I'm not sure that there is quite frankly,
I mean because some of these things are contracts and
you've got different stuff with FEDS.
Speaker 5 (01:28:46):
So we'll see.
Speaker 45 (01:28:47):
But anything I can do, I'm going to do to
make sure that the supplies continue going.
Speaker 5 (01:28:52):
But that is a big concern.
Speaker 3 (01:28:54):
Even more specifically, the United States is a major importer
of wood products, including Lumberg lumber. Yeah, thirty six point
five billion dollars worth.
Speaker 6 (01:29:03):
Think about appliances, yep, what appliances are made in America anymore?
Very few, very few think about that, very few, you know,
I immediately started thinking about that. I checked with Skeeter Braun,
a bronze roofing. I said, how are you affected by
You said some. But because I was thinking shingles, what
about where they met? I thought, well, asphalt probably here,
(01:29:23):
that's probably local. But the wood, some of the wood products.
Speaker 3 (01:29:26):
Yeah, more than half of container imports the United States
with lumber passed through the ports of the East Coast
and the Gulf Coast more than half. So it's going
to cut down on the supply of lumber, which will
drive the price up for those who have to rebuild. Yeah,
just like just like we found during COVID is going
to give come on top.
Speaker 9 (01:29:43):
Of that and increase in insurance rates.
Speaker 4 (01:29:46):
Exactly right, especially here Inte.
Speaker 6 (01:29:49):
You couldn't have a more perfect storm. And I and
I shouldn't use the word storm, but I'm talking about
everything converging at one time.
Speaker 3 (01:29:55):
Yeah, not good news. Seven to eleven time for traffic
and whether together skymake Europe.
Speaker 5 (01:30:00):

vehicle fire is done. Looks like they've picked up a
lot of that, but we still have HASMAD on the scene.
It's all lanes closed and they'll put you on the feeder.
There's about a twenty minute drag here if you take
business two ninety. I am told from good sources we

(01:30:23):

Thank you Chris from Hockley. We've got a thirty five
minute drag. Don't go there from two ninety. Also, all
kinds of police law enforcement traffic going up and down
two ninety between Highway six and Hockley. That is going
to do with the funeral for fallen DPS Trooper Kevin Vasquez.
(01:30:45):
And the funeral visitation is at nine this morning, the
funeral itself one o'clock Community of Faith Church in Hockley.
So give our officers, and you know we love law
enforcement here at k GRH. Let's give them a lot
of honor, give them a lot of space. All right,

people that are moving in with their parents and are
having a tough time of it. The offers of forgiveness
of their college debt loans, twenty five thousand dollars grant
in order to start up by a first home, also
(01:36:33):
fifty thousand dollars worth of tax credits to start a
new business. I'm afraid that a lot of people just
are going to fall for this, and they don't quite
understand the full ramifications of it. When everyone's freebies are computed,
the cost to society is enormous. The taxes that are
(01:36:56):
going to be needed for that are great.
Speaker 28 (01:37:00):
Out.
Speaker 18 (01:37:01):
If Kamala Harris gets her plans adopted, the United States
would look even more socialist than Europe.
Speaker 9 (01:37:11):
Yeah, the America.
Speaker 6 (01:37:12):
The American values of self reliance and self determinism are
being wiped out as every time with the money comes
the strings of over regulation and regulation of your very life.
Speaker 18 (01:37:25):
Yes, because I pointed out in the article for the
American Thinker people, if you've had a good set of parents,
or one parent that took care of you and fed
you and clothed you and loved you, and that was
very comforting and then going off into the real world
(01:37:47):
and being self reliant and having to get a job
and work and make pay the bills. And along comes
the government acting as a new parent for you to
take care of you very and I think that explains
why so many basically capitalistic countries traveled down the road,
(01:38:10):
as Hayek would Frederick mon Hayek would say, down the
road to serf them. As we've become more and more
dependent on the government to provide us with things that
traditionally was done by families and by individuals.
Speaker 3 (01:38:24):
Yeah, seductive, but not sustainable. Thank you for joining us
this morning. Appreciate it. Burton Abrams economists and professor. He
wrote a story about all this and the American Thinker

your money. Courtney is off for the day today. Karen
Moscow is in this morning.
Speaker 39 (01:38:42):
Jimmy, thank you, and futures are following this morning as
we continue to keep tabs on the escalating conflict in
the Mid East. To in just minutes from now, we
get the latest look at the jobs market with the
weekly report on initial jobless claims. There is some good
news on the oil front, O. Libya's oil minister tells
us the country will resume oil production starting today. It's
a move that potentially returns hundreds of thousands of barrels
(01:39:03):
of data global markets. After a political standoff in the
OPEC nation and Starbucks taking control of its own supply chain.
Worried about how climate change is affecting the supply of
coffee beans, the company is buying two new research firms,
one in Costa Rica and one in Guatemala that will
test everything from drones to microbes as it seeks to
make coffee more resilient to extreme weather. I'm Karen Moscow

the continued war and fossil fuel the Biden Harris regime
hasn't held any new oil and gas lease sales this year.
It's the first time they haven't since nineteen fifty eight.
Speaker 7 (01:42:00):
This means that America is becoming more dependent on other
countries for energy.
Speaker 29 (01:42:04):
He did not have horizontal drilling in fracking, this country
would be so dependent on Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and
other countries that people be walking everywhere.

we've got some of the United States' greatest foes all

bigger plans to destroy our economic dominance.
Speaker 17 (01:42:54):
Iran has certain capabilities, the Chinese have certain capabilities, and
suddenly they're supplying the Russians anywhere where they can work
collaboratively to push back against the United States or American
interests they view as a good day.
Speaker 6 (01:43:13):
Yeah, that's Edward Trezanski, He's the national security analyst. He says,
it's US leadership that we have. The regime failed to
prevent these major players from advancing their collaborative anti American
interests and chief and foremost abou them. He just told
us live is to take away the dollar is becoming
(01:43:34):
the reserve currency of the world. He said that will
immediately plunge us into overwhelming debt. And there's, of course,
the threat of nuclear war.
Speaker 31 (01:43:47):
Russian and President Vladimir Putin recently announced changes to the
rules on when it can use nuclear weapons and a
warning to those that support Ukraine. Retired Air Force Brigadier
General Rob Spaulding tells Fox we are veering toward a
modern day repeat of the QB missile crisis.
Speaker 32 (01:44:01):
We had kids practicing to duck under desks, we were
mobilizing forces, we were flying utwo's and bombers, and that.
Speaker 41 (01:44:09):
Was the closest we believe we were coming to nuclear war.
Speaker 32 (01:44:12):
I would say that we're probably even closer than we

fellow Democrat VP Harris, Well, she's not holding any news conferences,
but she still keeps talking about her opportunity economy when
she talks to people like Oprah.
Speaker 9 (01:45:12):
So what is it?
Speaker 34 (01:45:14):
Sharah Burton Abrams is an economist and retired professor and
says Kamala is trying to be Mamola and expand the
nanny state.
Speaker 18 (01:45:24):
The reference to Mamala and the paternalistic state where the
government is going to be our parent taking care of.
Speaker 34 (01:45:31):
Us, which all sounds good, But as for the economic

Speaker 18 (01:45:36):

H meantime corporate media, Hollywood losing their clout because they
keep pushing liberal agendas and narratives. Apparently Americans are starting
to wise up to it, an all time low of
only thirty percent to actually trust the media and its
players now.
Speaker 19 (01:46:08):
And there's more, it was only a matter of time
before it was going to start affecting their bottom line.
So with all these layouts that we're seeing in all
these leftist media empires, it's all a result of catering
to their own political biases rather than delivering straightenings to
the people.
Speaker 6 (01:46:25):
Joseph Vaskaz the Media Research Center ASTRO seasons it's over.

Speaker 3 (01:46:43):
No, it's fine, okay, I'm overed a bus like this
has a tendency to get your attention. Four hundred and
fifty thousand dollars worth of cocaine in a wheelchair in
the wheels of the wheelchair, and the reason why they
figured it out is because they the wheels wouldn't.
Speaker 9 (01:47:03):
Turn they kind of padded weird.
Speaker 6 (01:47:06):
Well, yeah, and they took it off, they took it
out of the line, and they x rayed twenty.
Speaker 3 (01:47:11):
Six pounds of cocaine stashed in the wheels of a wheelchair.
Speaker 9 (01:47:15):
That's pretty interesting.
Speaker 3 (01:47:16):
That is pretty interesting. Yes, evidently the woman traveling was
coming from Puta Kana in the Dominican Republic, so I'm
sure she had no problem at the other end next
door to Heiti. That's right, getting on boarding coming to
the United States, not a problem. Wheelchair cdently, that's a wheelchair,
(01:47:37):
not a problem. But here they did get given credit.
They got a little suspicious. They x rayed the wheelchair

Cocaine's an anomaly now, huh in all four wheels of

a half a million bucks.
Speaker 9 (01:47:58):
Yeah, they think we're stupid.
Speaker 4 (01:48:02):
Well, they wouldn't be wrong and greedy.
Speaker 6 (01:48:04):
You know people who get greedy, they start thinking you're stupid.
They think they're so clever.
Speaker 3 (01:48:10):
Yeah, I guess that seems like it seems like if
nothing else, you know, the origination of the cocaine. I mean,
that's four hundred and fifty thousand dollars in street value.
That's a lot of money to lose on an idea
that might be a little bit hair brained as far
as an idea to smuggle it in. There's plenty of
(01:48:31):
ways to get drugs into this country that do not
involve going through one of our airports. I don't know
why you would take a chance that maybe somebody at
TSA is actually paying attention today. I don't know why
you would take that chance and not just just get
a mule to take it across the border. I mean,
it's easy enough to get it across the border, so
why take that chance? You're right, maybe it was just green.
(01:48:52):
They didn't want to pay the cartel, right, they just
want to get it in themselves. Seven forty time for traffic.

We know Hollywood is liberal. Actor Zachary Leeve He's been
on Shazam and a few other things you may have
heard of. He's originally from Lake Charles, Louisiana. He came
out as Maga. So here he is coming out of
Mega making the claim about Hollywood being all liberal and
this might be the end of his career. And then
he gets a response from what be Goldberg, who, well,
you'll hear for yourself.
Speaker 46 (01:54:33):
We are going to take back this country. We are
going to make a great again within my industry. As
you can probably imagine, Hollywood is a very very liberal
town and this very well could constitute career suicide.
Speaker 47 (01:54:45):
So okay, that's not necessarily true. From the beginning of Hollywood,
there have been it's always been a very right leaning town.
But I know you know much about the Hollywood history,
so let me school you. We are like America as
(01:55:08):
we're mixed. We're a mixed bunch, and sometimes it may
seem like there's more Democrats and sometimes it seems like
there's more.
Speaker 5 (01:55:18):
Republicans.
Speaker 47 (01:55:18):
What shoot of the matter is very few people seem
to bite it because they're Republican. John Voight who is working,
Dennis Quaid, who is working. People were to stop that.
It's it's more bs and it's unnecessary.
Speaker 3 (01:55:36):
What what What the hell is she talking about? Dennis Quaid? Yes,
he's working, good for him. What was the other example
that she gave, John Voyd, John Voight? All right, she
came up with two. She came up with two people.
There are people who have been in Hollywood for a
(01:55:57):
long long time in established stars, video, yes, and established Yeah,
established stars who are conservatives who do work. You know,
she that's two out of thousands.
Speaker 6 (01:56:07):
He's equating dei versus conservatives and Republicans as opposed to
you know, she's pulling in the race card. But she's
flipping it around as though making that if you're anyway,
that's what it's about.
Speaker 3 (01:56:20):
Yeah, So she's trying to she somehow is trying to
paint a picture of Hollywood being diverse, having two or
three exceptions to the rules, not diversity. When you're talking
about thousands of people who are in the film industry
and the television industry in Los Angeles, California.
Speaker 4 (01:56:36):
It's just I'm.
Speaker 6 (01:56:37):
Sorry say that the donations out of Hollywood are preponderant.
Speaker 3 (01:56:42):
Yeah, let's do a poll, are you a Democrat or
a Republican?
Speaker 6 (01:56:46):
And you know that industry followed the money and add
it up there you go, there, you go. Good try whoopee.
Hey listen, you'll have a great day. We'll see tomorrow morning,
bright and early at five am. I'll see this afternoon
