Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's time to kick Jim Acosta in the in the
butt at this point for what he has done. Six
twenty two, here in Houston's Morning News, the former White
House correspondent for CNN stirring controversiory controversy thank you on Monday,
when he sat down for a conversation with a reanimated version,
(00:21):
an AI version of a person who died more than
seven years ago. His with this scen air quote guest
was an avatar of Joaquin Oliver, one of seventeen people
killed in the Stoneman Douglas High School match shooting in Parkland, Florida,
in twenty eighteen. What is he thinking? I guess he's thinking,
(00:41):
it's the anniversary of the shooting, and what a great
way I can to try to promote gun control. That's
what I guess what he's thinking. Curtis hop joins us
from Media Research Center. What in the world, Curtis, Yeah, this.
Speaker 2 (00:56):
One is absolutely stunning. You know, he was just doing
this for attention. On the fact that he announced this
on his X page, he locked the replies so that
people couldn't reply to it.
Speaker 3 (01:09):
You go on Blue Sky Blue Ski and even days
so his subscriber base thought this was utterly insane and
it was clunky. Watching the let's move of basically a
still shot of Joaquin Oliver was bizarre. The AI bought
(01:30):
asked Jim Acosta, who's your hero? And they talked about
Star Wars together, and his answer seems so formulaic. Look,
I'm not gonna tell grieving families how to do this
because this was created by his parents. But it's a
two way stream that Acosta didn't have to play ball
with this. You know, it's bizarre.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
What is he gonna do next? Talk to Jesus or
talk to Hitler about why Donald Trump is worse than
he was.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
He would talk to Hitler, He wouldn't talk to Jesus
because I'm pretty sure that he would not want to
promote actual religion. He prefers his version of religion. But
you brought up the parents, and I think that to me,
that's the saddest part of this. I mean, clearly, the
parents are still grieving and they have a right to grieve.
They're the ones that created this AI version of their son,
(02:20):
and they're the ones that invited Jim Acosta to speak
to him, so clearly they have a political agenda of
their own in all this.
Speaker 2 (02:30):
Oh yeah, I was gonna say the Oliver family is
up there with Fred Gutenberg, who's another one of the
parents who's been extremely active, the mainstay on CNN and
MSNBC over the years. But again, it's not just these
people force their way on. You have to agree to it.
And that's what Jim Acosta did that made this so bizarre,
(02:51):
And he of course marveled at this afterward, and he
was just so clunky. Just his answers were so again,
you can read it it NewsBusters. My colleague Nick Fondacaro
transcribes some of it. The answers were just so weird,
talking about more kindless than understanding can truly make a difference. Together,
we can create a world where everyone feels safe and supported.
(03:14):
And you know, I'm glad you think so. It just
was so and a cost of But the fact that
he just marveled over this goes to show how low
he is stooped. And I think it's just whoever is
sending Jim Acosta money to do his thing on substack
should ask for a refund with all this nonsense, And
(03:34):
you just wonder, more broadly, what are people going to do?
You know, unfortunately we're seeing more of this AI models.
You know, this one fashion company got in trouble for
using AI models instead of real models, you know, the
elderly there's I saw a story on one of the
network newscaps talking about that. It's it's a strange world
(03:56):
that we're moving into and you know, blending reality versus not.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
At some point, the AI will advance to the point
where it'll be virtually indistinguishable from the real thing, and
that's when things are really going to get dangerous. But
as far as Jim Acosta is concerned, I think the
thing we have to realize about him is that he
is desperate for attention. Attention whoores are always desperate for
attention and they will do virtually anything to get it.
And he's getting all the attention you can never want
(04:24):
right now.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
Yeah, I mean the guy who took a picture of
himself looking at himself in the mirror before he went
on Stephen Colbert Show wanting attention. I'm shocked.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
Thanks for your time as always, Curtis, good to talk
to you. Appreciate it. From the Media Research Center, Curtis
