Speaker 1 (00:00):
You know, school fights breakout all the time, but when
you have a boy who's beating up on a girl
and the girl is just trying to defend herself and
she ends up getting suspended the same way the boy did,
then that is not equal justice under the law as
far as I'm concerned. Danny Jan Francisco is a father,
Katie id parent. His daughter attends, or at least did attend,
Taylor High School. She's still going to school there, Danny, Yes, sir, okay, yes, Well,
(00:25):
we want to get a little progress before we only
have a couple months because we're up against the end
of the show. I know that the school system really
hasn't at any point really responded to you, but I
did notice that a lot more parents are speaking out.
So at the very least you've got to feel good that,
you know, what has come of this, at least so far,
is that the parents realize that an injustice has been
(00:46):
done and other parents are chiming in.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
Yes, at least we're moving in the right direction with that,
but the school district still is not cooperating at all.
There's been other girls come far with harassment claims against
the same kid. The same kid that beat up. My
daughter had an assault charge in junior high for beating
up a kid, so he's got priors for being a
(01:13):
bully and harassment, and it just seems like they're doing
everything they can to make it as difficult as possible
to get justice for my daughter, and I just don't
understand why.
Speaker 1 (01:24):
Well, maybe they're embarrassed. Maybe they're embarrassed that they haven't
done anything about this kid before.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
They should be.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
Yeah, I agree, they should be, So I guess the
goal here is what the goal is, to try to
change school policy.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
Yes, my ultimate goal is to get charges pressed against
this kid because I can't even press charges against them
because of the way they did their investigation with KISD police.
And we definitely need those policy changed for the future
so no parents have to go through what I went through.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
Where I'm going for, Well, it's difficult, difficult, as you say,
without any cooperation and the way the whole thing was investigates,
it's difficult to bring criminal charges. But I think I
asked you the last time whether or not there might
be a civil lawsuit that you could bring.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
Yes, yes there is.
Speaker 1 (02:13):
Where are you at in that process?
Speaker 2 (02:16):
We're still in the beginning of that process, but it's
starting to get some momentum, so I'm pleased. What's where
we're at right there.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
But now if you do a civil lawsuit, assuming you
do a civil lawsuit here, who who would the who
would the the defendants be? You would be the plaintiff,
your daughter would be the plainted obviously, but who would
be involved in the lawsuit you be suing the male student?
Would you be suing the school system or both?
Speaker 2 (02:45):
All of them? I'm going after everybody that that could
have done the right thing and didn't. All right, the parents,
the school, at the school board, I mean, the school district, everybody.
I mean, I'm just fed up with not getting any
cooperation whatsoever from all these people.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
I don't blame you if you got an attorney that's doing
this pro bona for you, uh not pro bono. So
this is going to cost some money, huh A little bit?
Speaker 2 (03:16):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (03:16):
Yeah, Well listen, best of luck with it, keep us posted,
thanks very much, yep, and let us know how things progress.
That is Danny jan Francisco who's getting ready for civil trial.
Well it'll be a while before the civil trial, but
he's not going to let this thing drop. He's not
going to allow Katie ID to ignore him.
