Our chops story, Raise your handed government, If your government
plan would provide coverage for undocumented immigrants.
Speaker 11 (01:52):
Every Democrat running against President Trump in twenty nineteen said
yes to that question during a debate. We have it
at kt and that's the story Congressional democrats are dying on.
As the government shutdown continues, another vot to re open
things takes place today it's not expected to pass.
Speaker 12 (02:12):
This is real pain to real people, and Chuck Schumer
and the Democrats and the Senate seem not to care.
Speaker 11 (02:17):
O Speaker Mike Johnson on Fox Business referencing the layoffs
and furloughs that the Democrats are causing. Meantime, the left
is trying to use the shutdown to attack Trump on
the economy.
Speaker 13 (02:29):
CNN claims the current government shutdown could do serious damage
to the economy, which it calls fragile. But economists fans
again doesn't buy that at all.
Speaker 14 (02:37):
There's always fear mongering, especially among the left, when the
government shuts down, given that oftentimes believe the government is
what it creates wealth and creates economic growth, but in
fact the private sector which produces increases in economic growth.
Speaker 13 (02:50):
You know, its past shutdowns have had little to no
long term impact on the economy, and the stock market
has already shrugged off this one. Coreyolson, who's radio seven
forty KTRH.
Speaker 9 (02:59):
Is now five to zero three.
Speaker 11 (03:01):
Closer to home, the lawsuit against the new Texas congressional
map continues, and now Fort Bend County is the latest
to come up with a new redistricting plan. County GOPCHR
Bobby Everly says, there's been a shift.
Speaker 15 (03:13):
What you see us doing is actually fighting back, saying no,
this is not fair and standing up to them. Now
across the state, Republicans they're actually standing up, they're fighting back,
and the American people and Fort ben County residents they
support it.
Speaker 11 (03:28):
Fort Bend County Commissioners will receive the new map next
week in Austin. Democrats Senate Canada James tall Rico, who
claims he's against big money donors, raised six million dollars
since launching his Senate campaign just three weeks ago.
Speaker 16 (03:44):
That's a high amount for just three weeks of his
first statewide campaign.
Speaker 7 (03:48):
The more important question besides acknowledging the fact there's a
lot of money and it's a good job done, it's
where's it coming from?
Speaker 17 (03:54):
Now?
Speaker 18 (03:55):
I'll tell you some stuff as well.
Speaker 16 (03:56):
Political consultant Bill Miller says raising six million dollars in
just three weeks with small dollar donors is unfathomable.
Speaker 7 (04:03):
I'm not saying he's had raise six million, and I'm
saying he hadn't got a lot of one hundred dollars contributions.
I'm just saying that's not how you get six million
bive sen a short period time.
Speaker 16 (04:11):
Miller added that at the end of the day, Tyl
Rico's chances will come down to the issues, not fundraising.
Ethan Buchanan News Radio seven forty KTRH.
Speaker 11 (04:19):
By the way, tall Rico's primary opponent, Colin Ulred, has
raised only four million dollars since launching his campaign in July.
Speaker 9 (04:27):
It's five oh four.
Speaker 11 (04:28):
Democrats in cities like Chicago and Memphis don't want the
National Guard helping to clean up their violent crime problems.
But Houston Democrat Mayor John Wickmeyer welcomes to help announce
this week by Governor Greg Abbott.
Speaker 19 (04:42):
It's not only personnel, but it's their technology, their forensic science.
They have air space coverage that HPD does not have, wit.
Speaker 11 (04:55):
Meyer with our TV partner Channel two. Meantime, there was
a man shot and killed and an apart art and
complex overnight in North Houston.
Speaker 9 (05:02):
HPD is still looking for the shooter.
Speaker 11 (05:05):
Six construction workers were injured in an explosion at a
downtown Houston hotel building under construction yesterday.
Speaker 20 (05:12):
Building shook and it rattled a little bit, but immediately
looked at my right and there's the breed coming down,
glass coming off the building, and then I look out
there's a big giant window that has smashed into the
middle of the middle of the road.
Speaker 9 (05:23):
Here that man talking to our TV partner channel too.
Speaker 11 (05:26):
The holiday in at that location was scheduled to open
in December, however that might be delayed now. Five ZHO
five on KTRHIL futures are up thirty cents this morning
to just under sixty one dollars a barrel. Gasoline prices
across Houston dropping down at two sixty six a gallon.
That's eleven cents cheaper than the average state wide. We've
(05:47):
seen energy prices skyrocket across the country over the last
several years, especially in Democrat states, and you can thank
the green energy projects that just don't work.
Speaker 8 (05:58):
This is the biggest station with trying to pick any
specific type of energy, especially the newer technologies, you are
effectively investing in the status quo that's not acceptable to
the tech driven energy demand that we're seeing.
Speaker 11 (06:11):
Chris Johnson with the American Energy Leadership Institute says, in
order to meet energy demand, we should allow the free
market to invest in multiple forms of energy production, including nuclear.
It's five oh six. Did you see this? A group
of Democrats are trying to stop the move of the
Space Shuttle Discovery from Virginia here to Houston, but Texas
(06:33):
Republican Senator John Cornyn says they're too late.
Speaker 17 (06:37):
The mass Administrator will make the determination, and that determination
was made.
Speaker 11 (06:43):
Discovery was deeded to the Smithsonian after it was decommissioned
fourteen years ago. But earlier this year there was a
provision in President Trump's Big Beautiful Bill at allocated eighty
five million bucks for relocation. The Texans are on the
road in Baltimore. Sunday kickoff. Yeah, I'm Cliff Saunders on
Houston's News. Whether in traffic station, use radio seven forty KGRH.
Speaker 1 (07:07):
Stay informed, stay on time.
Speaker 3 (07:10):
Houston's Morning News continues with Jimmy Barrett and the Houston
Morning News Team.
Speaker 4 (07:16):
Right, we all know dumb people, right, of course, we do.
Some dumb people we know intimately, some of them were
related to perhaps some of them are in our own families,
some of them are our coworkers. But this is what's
interesting here is are there jobs where you can be
legitimately kind of dumb but still make a great living.
(07:39):
And the answer is yes, here's the list. Number one
on the list, and this does not surprise me at all.
Number one on the list, sales number one. Answer. Well,
first of all, there's a lot of sales positions at
a lot of companies. There's a lot of quote unquote
salespeople out there. You don't have to be super smart,
(08:03):
or you don't even necessarily have to be smart to
be a great salesperson. You just have to be personable.
People have to relate to you. You have to be
a people person. You have to be somebody who can
go out and shake hands and kiss babies and then
you know, sell whatever product it is you're selling. It
doesn't require a college education, doesn't require not that a
(08:24):
college education has anything to do with being smart or
being dumb, but you don't have to be smart to
make a great living being a salesperson. And again, that
is that is. I'm not saying that to try to
upset people who are in sales. A lot of people
are in sales. Let's face it, a lot of people
are in sales. I mean, to a certain extent, I'm
in sales. You're in sales. We're selling ourselves. Real estate
(08:46):
agents came to number two. Insurance salespeople came in third.
Healthcare on the business side, not the doctors on the
business side, oil and gas drilling, really longshoreman politicians they
only made number seven. I think I would have made
politicians number one on this list, number eight, influencers number nine,
(09:08):
only fans number ten, law enforcement number eleven. The military.
One person said, some of the smartest people I know
I met in the army. All of the dumbest people
I know I met in the army. Garbage and sanitation. Well,
you certainly don't have to be smart to be in
garbage and sanitation. But they pay pretty good money, don't they.
(09:31):
Maybe the smart thing to do is to take the
job that pays the most money. If you could go
get a college degree to become a teacher and make
less money than somebody who's a garbage working in garbage
and sanitation, who's the smart person Probably the person who's
who's doing the garbage. Five to ten time for traffic
and weather together. Artists, rap artists, Yeah, I mean, how
about how about musician in general? You don't have to
(09:53):
be smart to be in a band, right.
Speaker 5 (09:56):
There's I mean, that's a certain I don't know.
Speaker 4 (09:58):
It's usable talent, but I it's based on Breenhower. Dude.
Speaker 6 (10:02):
It's almost a spiritual gift to be able to play music,
though I think rap, I mean a rap art due
just cussin a microphone. You can't seeing, you can't play
an instrument, you know, just walk around with your underwear showing.
Speaker 5 (10:13):
Let's do to twenty five. I'll get off my soapbox.
Speaker 6 (10:15):
Here to twenty five outbound Beltwait, let's see what we
got to.
Speaker 5 (10:19):
Oh, that's two right lanes. It's a vehicle fire.
Speaker 6 (10:21):
Hopefully everybody's okayre and we've got well, we got people
just getting by on th left side. Here about an
eight minute scooch you for going outbound not inbound. Caine
Island Parkway Day from Berkshire gets the first banana sticker
of the morning. We've got an accident in front of
BUCkies that's outbound, not inbound, and looks like we're getting
(10:42):
by that one just fine. Coming in from Graham Parkway,
Katie Mills mall looks like an easy twenty six minute
stroll in. I'm Skymike at your USA RV Resorts dot
com so traffic center.
Speaker 4 (10:52):
What just the computer making noises from our KTRH top
tax defenders twenty four hour WHETHERU Center, KEM Boon is
inf Terry, Today's just take a long weekend. What do
you have weatherwise? Anything different what Terry was gonna give us?
Speaker 18 (11:04):
Probably not.
Speaker 21 (11:04):
We're gonna see a little bit of an increase in
moisture and that might bump the rain chances up slightly,
but a best chances are going to be right along
the coast, and even then chances are going to remain
pretty low till maybe we get to Sunday or Monday.
So a mix of clowns and sunshine today up around
and just over ninety low seventy tonight, Sunday right around here,
just over ninety on Saturday, same Sunday, but just a
little bit better chance, maybe about a thirty percent chance
(11:26):
at best.
Speaker 4 (11:26):
To see a late day shower storm devature Right now
is what was the thing in? Oh yeah, seventy three
at your official severe weather station. News Radio seven forty KTRH.
Speaker 3 (11:38):
It's Houston's Morning News, brought to you by New South
Windows Solutions. Now back to Jimmy Barrett and the Houston
Morning News team. All the info you need to take
on the day, So turns out that here in Texas
we were one of the biggest offenders as related to
giving CDLs to non US citizens and not going through
(12:00):
the proper procedures to make sure they were fully vetted
and qualified to drive the trucks they were driving.
Speaker 4 (12:04):
I mean, we were one of the worst defenders. Of course,
we have more CDL permits in Texas than any other state. Yesterday,
i should say Tuesday, we put some new rules into
effect in Texas. But we did that if we're no
other reason than to become compliant with the new rules
they knew were coming down for the FEDS. Sean Duffy,
the Transportation Secretary, yesterday announcing some of those new rules.
(12:26):
I'll share that with you. Coming up next. First, though,
at five twenty traffic and weather together is we check
out a sky Mike.
Speaker 6 (12:32):
Eighty Freeway outbound not inbound fourteen sixty three before BUCkies.
Looks like they've just now ninjaed this wreck. I've got
about a three or four minute scooch heading out from
pin Oak Road. It's outbound inbound Grand Parkway twenty four
minutes to twenty five. We're looking like a vehicle fire.
Two right lanes outbound at the Beltway. Hopefully everybody's okay.
I'm seeing about a six minute drag heading out toward
(12:53):
one forty six ian from Bear Creek.
Speaker 8 (12:55):
Dude, tay guy, Mike wide open the Cafrey Way des
found wave fixed to downtown.
Speaker 5 (13:02):
Well, fig, I'll see you in traffic court.
Speaker 6 (13:05):
By the way, if you go to fourteen hundred Lubbock
for traffic Court, the parking is horrible. You have to
do that QR code thing, so let me sure and
leave early. That's I should know. We're looking in the
Generator Supercenter dot Com Traffic Center from.
Speaker 4 (13:17):
R KTRH TOMP Tax Defenders twenty four hour Weather Center.

Peace Talk President license for everyday good.
Speaker 5 (14:05):
All the day's happening, growing economy right here.
Speaker 4 (14:07):
Good things are happening on Youth Radio seven KTRH. I'm
pretty sure that he's not caring good none. Now, what
is it called non domicile See? What if the hell
is a non domicile CDL? I never heard that term before.
It's a CDL issued by a state to an individual
who lives in a Ford country or a US state
(14:30):
that prohibits such licenses, but who meets the federal testing
and licensing standards for commercial drivers. Part of the problem, though,
is is is they're not doing a very good job
of actually testing these drivers before. They've been giving them
these non domicile CDLs. And evidently all that is about
(14:50):
to change. Here's the Secretary Transportation, Sean Duffy yesterday making
some announcements about all this.
Speaker 23 (14:56):
What our audit has already discovered should anger every single
MA can. So here's what we've learned. I just want
to walk through it first. Our audit revealed a systemic
breakdown among states to follow the law and issue licenses properly.
States are failing to follow even the most basic procedures.
(15:16):
We even uncovered widespread procedural errors, computer programming flaws, and
a gross lack of oversight in the states that issue CDLs.
This means that thousands of licenses that should never have
been issued actually were issued. States are issuing licenses that
extend months and even years beyond a driver's lawful presence
(15:39):
in the US. This is a direct incentive to stay
in our country illegally beyond their authorized work permit. They
have driver's licenses, so in some disturbing cases, they have
failed to validate a driver's lawful presence before handing them
a commercial license. Steeply disturbing, but even worse, our second
(16:02):
finding was that the current federal regulations are allowing dangerous,
unqualified drivers on American roadways. This means that even when
the rules are being followed, dangerous individuals who shouldn't be
near a big rig are getting behind the wheel and
causing crashes on our roadways. That is why today I'm
announcing two immediate major actions. Number One, we're issuing an
(16:27):
emergency rule that fundamentally overhauls who is eligible for a
non domiciled CDL. These tighter federal standards they're going to
keep Americans and families safe on our roadways. Now, this
is not a proposal. This is a final rule, and
it is effective immediately. Non citizens will not be eligible
(16:51):
for a CDL unless they meet a much stricter set
of rules. Second, all states must we didly pause the
issuance of non domicile CDLs until they can comply with
our new.
Speaker 4 (17:07):
Rules, which I guess is why we've pretty much stopped
doing that. Here in Texas, they're not issuing them now.
They stopped doing that, I believe on Tuesday. I guess
the question would be here, does this make a already
bad trucker shortage wars? I mean, I really do believe
we need to follow these rules. We've had major incidents
(17:30):
involving non US citizen, non English speaking people with CDLs
issued from a different state who are out there driving
and causing accidents and killing people. So clearly something has
to be done. But there are those who are worried
about what this potentially does to the trucking system as
far as having fewer truckers and higher costs associated with
(17:51):
trucking goods and services and all that kind of stuff.
Five twenty six. Now here in Houston's morning news, It's
time to take and look at your money. Who's in
this morning, It's me Dan Schwarzman. Good morning, Good morning
to you, Good morning to you.
Speaker 24 (18:03):
Boeing facing yet another setback with as much BLIGD triple
X seven X as a wide body plane has now
slaved to fly in twenty twenty seven. The delay could
potentially cost Boing billions of dollars in accounting charges. Luftanzo,
which is a launch customer for the seven seven seven X,
is already making plans for the delay. The jet is
already six years behind schedule, with Boeing CEO Kelly or
(18:24):
Berg attributing the latest delay to a quote mountain of
work rather than new technical issues. Cracker Barel has got
ties with the marketing company behind its controversial logo.
Speaker 5 (18:33):
Change, The Restaurant Change.
Speaker 24 (18:35):
The restaurant chain hired marketing from Profit last year as
part of a three year rebranding campaign including redesigning its restaurants.
Profit then created a new logo, which angered conservatives. Cracker
Barrel backtrack last month and returned the previous logo. Futures
right now all in the green, they are all the

You, Jimmy five thirty one on kt RH our top story.
Apple finally takes down the ice block app that was
being used to track agents and operations to a little
too light. Though two illegal aliens were killed in last
week shooting at an ice center in Dallas.
Speaker 26 (20:58):
I think that it does put law enforcement officers in danger.
I think that's clear. We have evidence in this case
involving this sniper that he was active on that app.
Speaker 11 (21:09):
US Attorney Nancy Larson on Fox Business. Meantime, violent leftists
continued to protest at facilities in cities like Portland.
Speaker 27 (21:18):
The agitators out there typically are wearing all black and
are yelling stuff on the bullhorn.
Speaker 4 (21:22):
We saw one targeted arrest.
Speaker 27 (21:23):
They went off into the crowd arrested one guy who
they said was involved in spreading a bunch of red
paint on the federal.
Speaker 5 (21:29):
Property the night before.
Speaker 27 (21:30):
So they say they have photos of him after that
incident of him covered in red paint, flipping double middle
fingers at agents on the roof.
Speaker 11 (21:37):
Fox's Bill Malusian reporting meantime, President Trump says the US
is in a quote armed conflict with drug cartels following
strikes in the Caribbean against what have been designated as
terrorist organizations.
Speaker 28 (21:50):
These narco terrorist organizations have declared warn America. The drugs
that they send here kill over one hundred thousand Americans
every year.
Speaker 11 (22:00):
Or Republican Senator Eric Schmidt calls this the right move.
Speaker 9 (22:04):
It's five point thirty three.
Speaker 11 (22:05):
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton will headline the Turning Point
USA event in Lubbock this coming Tuesday. Meantime, TCU disputes
a claim that it canceled a tp USA event to
be held next week, saying it was organized by an
outside party nut.
Speaker 9 (22:21):
Affiliated with the School.
Speaker 11 (22:23):
Democrat Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania has called out his
own sign for their extreme rhetoric which has led to
violence against Conservatives. Of course, so will they finally start
to moderate?
Speaker 29 (22:36):
I mean, that's gonna be a big push for them
to make. We'll see if they actually go through with it.
I don't see it happening. I mean, I feel like
this is kind of the same story as we hear
over and over again, Trent.
Speaker 9 (22:46):
And Rippy there with Young Americans for Liberty.
Speaker 11 (22:48):
Here's a result of Fetterman's shift, though approval amongst Pennsylvania
Democrats for Ftteran is down. It's up though amongst Republicans
five point thirty four. There are growing concerns over foreign
funds received by state schools in Texas like A and M.
New reports out of Israel's show the oil rich Arab
(23:10):
state of Qatar has been funding the ter group A
MAAS at the same time they've been sending big bucks
and research funding to Texas A and M.
Speaker 30 (23:18):
Texas A and M disclosed four undred and fifty million
dollars from Guitar and one hundred million dollars going to
their engineering experiment station.
Speaker 31 (23:24):
This is something Kate Bierley with the Texas Public Policy
Foundation warned lawmakers about. She says if Katar is funding research,
they have access to the end products. In twenty seventeen,
the school faced a similar investigation Atrh's were Israel says
Hammas directed the terrorist attack at a synagogue in Manchester yesterday,
the Jewish holiday of Yam Kapor. Three people were died,
(23:48):
three others seriously injured, and police in the UK today
say they shot one of the victims accidentally. Support for
Israel is falling, according to the latest new York Times numbers,
but it is mostly on the Democrats side of the Isle.
Right barts Joel Pollock says they have stopped supporting Israel
because Trump supports them.
Speaker 9 (24:08):
It might be too late.
Speaker 32 (24:09):
I think it could be temporary that you'll see Democrats
return to supporting Israel over time, but it could be
some permanent damages done as more voters and conscientious people
leave the Democratic Party, and what's left behind in their
weight will be the vocal left to the pro Palestinian left,
anti Semitic left.
Speaker 11 (24:28):
He says, Chuck Schumer and the other Dems are to
blame the Schumer shut down now in day three, with
Missouri Senator Josh Holly saying it's all because the Democrats
won't put America first.
Speaker 33 (24:38):
They would rather deny healthcare to our veterans than deny
healthcare to illegals. They want to give money to illegals
so bad they will shut down the entire government to

I have a question is artificial Are are artificially intelligent
creations looking for work? Why are they applying for jobs?
Can something explain that to me? Evidently companies are overrun
with resumes created by AI and not even for a
(26:47):
real person, which is I guess one of the reasons
why the job numbers have been so screwed up, right,
at least part of the reason behind that. So some
companies have been so swamped with them. They're the hiring
managers are looking for way to separate the humans from
the machines, so they The only thing they've been able
to come up with or think of so far is
(27:08):
that it's an interesting idea is to charge you to apply.
You want to apply for a job that's opening at
a company, then you'll have to pay an application fee,
like you're applying to college or something. Don't know how
much the application fee would be, but about twenty percent
(27:29):
of company say they've considered a paid to apply system,
and nearly ninety percent of them say they're likely to
have to adapt it at some point. The application fee
could be as little as ten dollars, but it's a
novel idea. You want to work here, here's the application,
and we'll need a ten dollars application fee. On one hand,
(27:49):
this could be frustrating. I mean, if you're applying for
let's say a fast food job, and you are you know,
don't have a lot of extra money, and ten dollars
is a lot of money to you, then it might
be well, I can't afford to pay you to apply
for a job here. But on the other hand, it
would probably give you a leg up and certainly get
(28:09):
the eyeballs on your resume because you're actually a person.
You're actually a person who wants to work there, who's
who's who's capable of working there, and he was willing
to pay a certain amount of money to at least
apply for the job. Do you get a refund? By
the way, if you don't get the job, that's the
other thing you'd have to work up five forty time

Speaker 6 (28:30):
Talking about online applications, I'm talking about yeah, applying for
any job application?
Speaker 36 (28:34):

Speaker 6 (28:34):
Why don't they just do that thing where they make

account and you could pay all my bills you want.
Let's go two twenty five. I've got this vehicle fire.
I think everybody's okay. About a six minute scooch an outbound.
I'm looking at camera seven to one zero if you're
playing the home game with me, And that's right at
the beltway again eastbound. About a six minute Scooch going

because in honor of your root canal, which you had yesterday,
and everybody knows how much fun a canal a root

with the list of things that are worse, things that
are actually less fun than getting a root canal. Good.

Now you can contribute to the list by going to

Speaker 18 (30:29):

Speaker 21 (30:30):
We have a little bit of an increase in moisture
across southeast Texas, so maybe a little bit better chance
to see a shower storm through the weekend, but our
best chance won't be until Sunday, and even then a
thirty percent chance at best. We might feel a little
bit more humidity than we have the last couple of days.
Mix the clowns and sunshine today up around and just
over ninety. If we see a pop up shower storm today,
I think the best chance will be along the coast

Speaker 4 (31:11):
We are coming up on five point fifty here on
news Radio seven forty KTRH. As you know, as you
probably know, I shouldn't assume we all know. Governor Happit
announced this week that he is doing a repeat Offender
task Force, and as a part of that repeat Offender
task Force. He's making Houston sort of the guinea pig
(31:33):
for this. This is where the task force is going
to operate out of. It means that there's going to
be additional crime fighting resources here in Houston. Now, if
this was Portland or a Chicago, the mayor would be
standing up talking about.
Speaker 5 (31:49):
We don't need any additional help. We can handle this ourselves.
Speaker 18 (31:53):
Well.
Speaker 4 (31:54):
Luckily for us, that's not what Mayor John Whitmeyer is
saying at all. We'll have more in that story coming
up in the moment. First, Oh, let's do a little
traffic and weather deguilments that you do? Hi, you like
that voice?
Speaker 5 (32:03):
Yeah, yeah, you know what. That would be fun to hear.
Speaker 6 (32:06):
You get the numbing that I got yesterday from those
shots before the root canal.
Speaker 5 (32:10):
And then do that.
Speaker 4 (32:10):
Boy, you give me some of the good juice. I'll
do all kinds of voices for it.
Speaker 5 (32:13):
Let's look at two twenty five.
Speaker 6 (32:15):
The fact that they didn't shut the whole thing down
at the Beltway a good sign. I'm not sure why
this vehicle fire is taken so long to clear, but
we have about a seven minute scoots going outbound, not
inbound to ninety clear whatever we had at thirty fourth,
Let's reset the jackpot going inbound. Mike from magnoliast Mike,

Next on the ten, Governor Greg Avis Repeat Offender Task
Force designed to round up And I was commenting on
this yesterday. If you missed it, designed to round up
dangerous criminals, repeat offenders. You arrest them, get them to jail,
et cetera, et cetera, which is all well and good,
(34:11):
but the biggest problem, And of course we're gonna have
to solve this by going to the back, and I
hope this solves it by going to the ballot box
in November and voting for some of the proposals that
would take away Judge's abilities to just let repeat defenders
out on cash bonds. To me, that's the biggest issue,
(34:32):
not so much rounding them up, but keeping them in
jail is the bigger problem. But I was grateful to
see that our Democrat mayor is not behaving like the
Democrat mayor in Chicago or Portland, Oregon, or any other
blue city which seems to want to turn away help
when it comes to fighting crime. Quite the opposite with
(34:53):
Mayor John Whitmyer. Here's a report.
Speaker 7 (34:56):
Keith.
Speaker 22 (34:57):
Mayor John Whitmeyer tells me that Governor bray Adam It
reached out from last week to let him know about
this Violent Crime Task Force here in Houston and Harris County.
The mayor says that crime has gone down here in
Houston since he took office, but he says he's welcoming
those resources from the state to make sure our city
is safe. Multiple state agencies will be flooding Houston and
(35:19):
Harris County's high crime areas extra manpower from DPS special agents.
Speaker 5 (35:25):
To Texas Rangers.
Speaker 22 (35:26):
We'll be working alongside HPD, the Harris County Sheriff's Office,
and other local law enforcement as part of Governor Greg
Abbott's Violent Crime Task Force.
Speaker 19 (35:35):
I've said all along, We're going to make Houston a
greater city, a safer city.
Speaker 22 (35:41):
Mayor John Whitmeyer says Houston has already been working with
DPS since he took office.
Speaker 19 (35:46):
Any given day, we may have seventy seventy five DPS
officers helping HPD.
Speaker 22 (35:51):
Abbot says violent crime is already down twenty two percent
compared to last year, but he insists more needs to
be done.
Speaker 5 (35:58):
How confident are you.
Speaker 22 (35:59):
That this new task force will help reduce crime even more?
Speaker 19 (36:03):
Well, it's not only personnel, but is their technology, their
forensic science.
Speaker 5 (36:12):
They have air.
Speaker 19 (36:13):
Space coverage that HPD does not have, so it's a collaboration.
It will also hopefully reduce our chasst. When HPD gets
in a chase, which we're doing much more thoughtful, we
can call in a DPS helicopter.
Speaker 5 (36:30):
How is this being funded? You and me?
Speaker 19 (36:32):
We're we play state sales tax and so it comes
out of state budget.
Speaker 4 (36:39):
That's Mayor John Whibmer. The report from our television partner
KPRC too. I think I would have answered this, But
then again, this is why I would never survive in politics.
I think I would probably be answering the media question
a little bit differently about what makes you think that
this is going to work. That's basically what she was saying,
and to which I would say, what have I got
(37:01):
to lose? And that's the part that I don't understand
why these big city mayors don't seem to want to
cooperate when given the opportunity for additional resources to fight crime.
If there's one thing that is a completely bipartisan issue
(37:21):
that will make a Democrat think twice about other Democrats,
it's crime. Most Democrats, at least people who vote Democrat
who are citizens, not politicians. They don't like crime anymore
than we like crime. They don't want to be victims
of crime. They want the streets to be safe. They
want their kids to be safe. So why would you
(37:43):
turn down the opportunity to make the streets safer. It
doesn't mean that they're going to turn into a Republican voter.
If you get help from a Republican and then it
turns out it works quite the opposite, they'll think more.
They'll think better of your tenure as the mayor of
that city because the city was actually safe while you
were the mayor. That's all they're going to remember about it.

Speaker 15 (40:58):
One of the keyses why are we doing this? In
twenty twenty one, the Democrats, without a public hearing or
any kind of transparency, put out a map to make
the balance of commissioners court three to one Democrat.
Speaker 9 (41:10):
And now it's time to make that wrong right.

Texas's John Cornan told Fox Democrats are simply throwing a

Speaker 40 (42:13):
My senses, they're just frustrated that they're in the minority
and they want to do everything they can to try

willing to have that conversation until they vote to reopen
the government.
Speaker 11 (42:26):
Democrats have repeatedly rejected a clean continuing resolution. That's because
they're dying on the Obamacare Hill.
Speaker 41 (42:34):
Republicans refused to do anything to extend the Affordable Care

Speaker 11 (42:46):
Ause Minority Leader Hakim Jeffries, the liberal mainstream media is
warning that the shutdown is going to hurt the economy,
despite evidence to the contrary. Economist doctor Vanskin calls this
fear mongering.
Speaker 14 (42:59):
There's a lot of mischi about what happens during a shutdown.
In historical examples of these types of shutdowns, there hasn't
been a huge economic hit, and it really allows for
more of a focus on the amount of government spending
in national debt.
Speaker 11 (43:12):
He says, the shutdown could end up being a positive
for the administration by allowing them to further shrink the government.
One more impact of this, we won't get the September

Oh.
Speaker 4 (45:23):
Yes, Older and wiser? How many times have we heard
that in our lives? Older and wiser they go to
to go hand in hand, well only to a point.
As it turns out, there's a new study done by
what is the name of this group again? Oh yeah.
The study is on the overall function of the human brain.
(45:46):
And in the study in the journal called Intelligence measures
the metrics of different things with your brain as you age,
things that you knowledge, you accumulate certainly that helps make
you older and wiser, cognitive function, all those types of things.
And they found that you pretty much peak out between
(46:09):
fifty five and sixty, so you're about as smart as
you're gonna get between fifty five and sixty, and then
straight down here we go. The oral functioning of the
brain reaches this peak between fifty five and sixty. Not
everything else does the same thing, though. Fluid intelligence, which
includes reasoning, memory span, and processing speed, tends to peak
(46:29):
in your early twenties, so you're quicker on your feet
when you're early. When you're in your early twenties, crystallized
intelligence was the accumulation of knowledge and experience continues to
build for decades. Personality traits also mature and increase through
early adulthood before leveling off later in life, like consciousness,
(46:49):
which the ability to see things through emotional stability, the
ability to keep calm under stress. Moral reasoning, the ability
to weigh competing principles, deepens with experience, producing sounder judgments
about fairness and duty, so as you get older that improves.
Financial literacy also builds into a person's late sixties, so
(47:10):
you do, in many ways get smarter as you continue
to get older. And cognitive flexibility the ability to shift
smoothly between task or strategies when circumstances, change and cognitive
empathy the ability to give what others are thinking. Both
of those things favor with age. So the older you get,
the worst that gets. I think in Joe Biden's case,
he was about one hundred and forty years old when

Speaker 18 (48:54):
Did no chances are going to remain.
Speaker 21 (48:56):
Low the best chance and even then it's a very
slight chance will be down along the coast today and,
tomorrow maybe about a thirty percent chance across the region On,
Sunday so range answers are going to stay, low even
though we're going to see a little bit more moisture
in the, area which means the relative humidity will be
a little bit higher than it's been the last couple of.
Days maybe not quite as hot as the last couple of,
days but still above average, temperatures so lots of sunshine
(49:17):
force Here today And tomorrow And. Sunday temperatures all three
days will be right around or just above ninety. Degrees,
again astray mainly coastal shower storm possible Today's, saturday a

Speaker 4 (49:42):
Solutions So i'm, guessing, well the last things you're thinking
about right now is the race for The democrat nominee
to de face off in THE Us centate race against
whoever wins The republican, nomination whether It's Ken paxton or
our CURRENT Us Enator John. Cornyn but right now there
are two that are vying to get The democrat. Nomination
(50:04):
one IS Us Representative Colin, alred who is already run
FOR Us senate Against Ted cruz and loss the other
one is a guy by the name Of James tallerco
who said that he wasn't interested in raising corporate, money
he wanted individual. Donations, well he is hauled in in
the three weeks since he launched his bid six point
(50:25):
two million. Dollars you need to tell me that's all
individual small. Donors more than that. Story coming, up we'll
visit with The Bill, miller who is an expert In texas.
Politics coming up, next first, though traffic and weather. Together,

Day One Youth radio seven Ktrh, okay we get. It
do you need money to run for THE? Us? ENDIT
i get. That six twenty two is their time here
In Houston's Morning. News but what do we make of
the fundraising expertise Of Representative James tallerico raising over six
million dollars six point two to be, exact in the
(52:32):
first three weeks since he announced that he's going to
Pose Colin allred for The Democrat senate. Nomination this Ask Bill. Miller,
uh he made a kind of a big, deal didn't,
He bill about saying that he was only interested in
raising money from small individual. Donors can you raise six
point two million in three weeks from small individual? Donors,
well it's a.
Speaker 7 (52:51):
Very impressive, number and you, know and, like you, know
money is you, know in the case of the large
number of devils in the.
Speaker 46 (52:59):
Details you.
Speaker 7 (53:00):
Know i'm not saying it's. Untrue i'm just saying it's
hard to fathom that he can raise that much money
for small donors in that short. Period if he, can
he's a phenomenon And i'll give him credit for. That
if it's not. True why make the. Claim it's an
impressive number no matter where it comes. From but if
you are found to not be exactly, truthful if you
(53:23):
want to call it that about where this money comes,
from that's the. Problem don't diminish the to take it
takes IMPRESSIVE i, mean six million dollars in three weeks
is a hugely impressive.
Speaker 4 (53:35):
Number, well his opponent in the, Primary Colin, alred raised
four point one, million but he took him three months
to do. It so what does that tell us about
maybe a lack of enthusiasm on The democrat side For
Colin allred running For senate.
Speaker 7 (53:49):
Again, WELL i think that underscore is exactly his. Problem
he's run and he's, lost and you, know retreads and
it's great you can learn from. LOSING i, Won't i'll
grant you, That BUT i do think The Democratic party
is looking for fresh. Spaces they're looking for someone who can,
win especially a state wide, race which has been decades
(54:10):
since they did. That so you, Know tellerico is the
guy at the, moment and we'll see if it holds.
Speaker 4 (54:17):
Well and how difficult in your, Mind Bill, miller how
hard is it to beat an incumbent if let's, assume
for the sake of argament here The John cornyn survives
his primary. Challenge i'm not so sure that's going to
happen because he's not very popular In texas right. Now
but if he does, survive how difficult is to go
up against an incumbent when you're running for The United States.
Speaker 7 (54:35):
Senate, WELL i would, say if you're trying to win a,
race you always want to pick a race that to,
open being a non incumbent. Race that's the ideal. Situation
if you're going to pick a race where you are challenging,
incumbent you want to pick one in a state where
you know it's a swing, state and you've got an.
Opportunity in a state Like, texas which is not a swing,
(54:58):
state and you have an, incumbent it's a virtually impossible
to defeat that. Person i'm not saying it can't be,
Done i'm just saying it's nearly.
Speaker 4 (55:07):
Impossible maybe this tells Us Bill miller that they think
That John cornyn will get primaried And Ken paxton will
be the, nominee and therefore they wouldn't have to face an.
Speaker 7 (55:16):
INCUMBENT i think you're. RIGHT i think that that's why
both individuals are in the. Race they're hoping that the
incumbent is defeated in the primary and that it will
be an open, seat which gives him a better opportunity
to win.
Speaker 4 (55:30):
It, hey let me quickly ask you to here more
on than the state Of houston politics. HERE i Think
Mayor John, whitmyer much to his, credit you, know we've
Had democrat mayors all around the country refusing, help in
particular from the federal government when it comes to finding.
Crime governor abbn't announced his his task force earlier this.
Week houston is going to be the guinea pig in,
(55:50):
this and the mayor is happy to have all the
help he can get his hands. On that's a refreshing
change of.
Speaker 7 (55:54):
Pace, Well Mayor, whitmeyer you, know remember when he was the,
legislator he made his name. Criminal he was chair of
The Criminal Justice. Committee you, know he's he's well versed
in kind of what this is all. About What chrome,
does is the, community how the community feels about. It
so him taking that position is not surprising to. Me
(56:15):
BUT i think it is exactly using your, word super
refreshing And i'm certainly glad that he's doing it all, Right.
Speaker 4 (56:21):
Bill thank you appreciate your. Time that's political Consultant Bill,

Reasons THAT i got out of it is probably around
two thousand and fourteen, fifteen we started seeing groups come
up To seattle And portland From, california and they were
much more, like, hey you, know you better get in
(01:11:17):
line with, this you, know and if you're, not those
consequences and there's.
Speaker 13 (01:11:21):
Pressure so you were being forced to take violent action
or else you might have been.
Speaker 5 (01:11:27):
Hurt oh not only, that but there was there was.
Speaker 51 (01:11:31):
Pressure there was ostracization things of that nature where you,
know you might get into, it say like because you
don't like bigotry in the music, scene and then later
on it's you, know you're going to adhere to these
tenets and you're going to say and think these, ways
and if you're on the fence at, all you, know
silence is, violence and you know your comrades are going
(01:11:53):
to become a problem for.
Speaker 4 (01:11:54):
You you, know, YEAH i get the. Idea so they
werecruit young people who maybe have some sort of an
idealistic cause or just want to have, fun you, know
blowing stuff, up and then they radicalize them further as
a part of the. Organization and if they don't want
to go along with What antifa is, doing then they
(01:12:16):
basically either ostracize them or force them to, participate or
their own lives are potentially in. Danger sounds like a
great thing to. Do, Wow mom And dad must be so.
Proud Nos he Mentioned, Seattle, Portland. California that's where these
radicals are born and bred for the most, part time

Speaker 4 (01:33:01):
Yeah now we're talking about Dragon line In Fort Ben.
County they are considering evidently five different maps on how
the county's four precincts would be divided or. Redivided however
that is it's going to work. Out you may recall
when we went through that In Harrison. County the purpose of,
that of, course was to get rid of one of
the county commissioners who was A, Republican Jack, hagel and that.
(01:33:25):
Worked it certainly, worked orchestrated course by you, Know Rodney
ellis And Lena, hildago among. Others what is the purpose
behind changing the the county precinct maps In Fort Benn?
County this ask Doctor Bobby Everley Fort Ben county. Geopcher
is it a similar Situation fort Ben. County is this
(01:33:46):
to try to either get more or Less republicans in
county commissioner.
Speaker 46 (01:33:51):
Seats Hey, jimmy good. Morning thanks for having me.
Speaker 15 (01:33:54):
On it was funny your lead in there where you
talked about getting rid of a Republic that was the whole.
Idea right In Harris, County that's exactly what The democrats
did to us in twenty twenty. One they redrew the
lines without public, hearing without public, input no, transparency in
an effort to make our four commissioner precincts three to One.
(01:34:17):
DEMOCRAT i guess the only thing they didn't count on
in the last election cycle was they had a complete
and utter criminal as one of their commissioner, candidates and
so he ended up. Losing but the lines are the,
lines and they drew them to be three to, one
and so now we have an opportunity With republican court
(01:34:38):
to redraw them and get it back to balance at.
Speaker 46 (01:34:42):
Four Penk county is very evenly.
Speaker 15 (01:34:44):
Divided we've had some great election results the last two,
cycles but on a partisan, basis it's very, even and
so we've got maps out there now that get rid
of that three to One democrat bias and get it
back to two to, two which is a huge game For.
Speaker 4 (01:35:00):
Republicans, well and how much did it have your county
JUDGE Jp? George how much did THAT. Kp george? Brother
how much did that help having him become A.
Speaker 15 (01:35:09):
Republican, oh it's huge, actually because you know that the
court was three to Two democrat and now he is
really on. Board i've got to say for this, Redistricting
i'm getting things. Right he's been not only, vocal but
he's been a solid vote in this.
Speaker 46 (01:35:28):
Process the entire.
Speaker 15 (01:35:29):
Time So i'm thankful for, that And i'm thankful that
we're doing this process in the right.
Speaker 46 (01:35:36):
Way you mentioned these public.
Speaker 15 (01:35:37):
HEARINGS i testified at two of, them just talking about
the different, maps and you Had democrats out there in
force as. Well and so this is how it should,
be and this is how exactly. Opposite you know it
was in twenty twenty one when The democrats at the
last minute put a map, together really influenced By Harry county,
(01:36:00):
consultants and you, know Poor bend.
Speaker 46 (01:36:03):
Was kind of walking hand in glove with The Lena hidalgo.
Speaker 15 (01:36:07):
Klan we just lagged about six, months, right anything that
they were doing The democrats here started, doing but.
Speaker 46 (01:36:14):
We were able to fight.
Speaker 15 (01:36:15):
Back we were able to win, races gain control, here
and hopefully put things back in a way that makes
that county judge the, true you, know deciding, vote and
we see what. Happens republicans have to have their act
together and win that, race and that will determine control
of the.
Speaker 4 (01:36:35):
Court what is the biggest, Difference, bobby between the, maps
near as you can tell.
Speaker 15 (01:36:40):
Right, now it's just where are the elected officials going to.
Speaker 46 (01:36:44):
Be there's one map out there that really it.
Speaker 15 (01:36:48):
Minimizes in, fact there's only one Like justice of The,
peace that gets. Moved all the rest of them stay the.
Same and yet we're able to restore this this too two.
Balance the current map artisan basis bias is like thirteen
percent favors The, democrats and this new one is one
percent favoring The. Republicans so basically right down the middle
(01:37:12):
and again fair.
Speaker 46 (01:37:13):
As it could. Be i'll be getting more information.
Speaker 15 (01:37:16):
Out to do activists And republican officials and grassroots on
my thoughts on the best, maps so please stay tuned for.
That but really there's one in. There if you look
at the. Redistricting that's you, Know Mike gibson j el,
amented it's it's got a long, name but that one
is really the one that minimizes impact on the current
(01:37:40):
elected officials and allows us to get back to that.
Balance that's that is representative of the, county right.
Speaker 4 (01:37:47):
Sir, well it'll be interesting to see how this all ends.
Up thank you for your time, Today Doctor Bobby everly
For Ben County Geop chair seven twenty. Seven it is

Speaker 3 (01:45:44):
The very latest on your way to. Work this Is
Houston's Morning news With Jimmy. Barrett you, know there's all
kinds of. Forgiveness we've talked about forgiveness on the show.
Before it's forgiveness is not an easy, thing especially when
you're involved something. Heinous this might. Be this is right
up there With Charlie kirk's widow forgiving her husband's. Killer
(01:46:11):
members of The church Of Jesus christ Of latter Day
saints have raised over three hundred thousand dollars for the
widow Of Thomas Jacob. STANFORD i don't like to mention killer's,
names But i'll do it for the purpose of this.
One they raise over three hundred thousand dollars for the
widow of the man who opened fire on That morbon
(01:46:31):
church In. Michigan, again over three hundred thousand. Dollars the
reason why they did.
Speaker 4 (01:46:38):
It is in addition to the fact that she has
no visible means of support anymore with her husband, dead
her son has a rare genetic disorder And i'm sure
the treatment on that is fairly. Expensive the fundraising campaign went,
viral with donations coming from across the. World despite his
(01:46:58):
history hostility towards the. CHURCH i mean that takes a
pretty gigantic level of forgiveness to go out there as
an organization and raise money for a man who came,
in murdered your, parishioners set fire to your, church and
(01:47:19):
basically waged war against. You but that is exactly what
they have. Done that is exactly what they've. Done as
for the killer, himself turns out he had AND i
hadn't seen this until. Recently it turns out he had
a deranged fixation on The mormon. Faith this was strictly
targeting The mormon. Religion it had nothing to do with
(01:47:42):
that particular church or anybody associated with that church other
than the fact that they Were. Mormons and he had
a fixation with The Mormon. Church so where did that
fixation come? From evidently it sprung from a soured relationship
with an extremely Religious mormon woman who who had pressured
him to join the church when he lived In, utah
(01:48:04):
at least according to a former. Landlord here's a quote
from that. Landlord he wasn't so sure that he wanted
to become a member of the, church but he really
wanted to be with this, woman so he joined the.
Church their relationship broke, up evidently heartbroken about. It AND
i don't know if he held that against The Mormon.
(01:48:27):
Church because this woman was A. Mormon but you, KNOW i,
mean come, on, dude you're, married you have a child
of your. Own, now what what are you worried about
a past? Girlfriend for? Craziness, obviously there's also some mental,
instability maybe a lot of mental instability involved in this
story as. Well seven forty times for traffic and weather.

who was able to get that across the finish line
signed into law In july, fourth you, know cutting down
needless regulations and overregulation that we, have and also Unleashing
american energy and giving us what we need to build
(01:55:22):
and grow an, economy grow out of this debt.
Speaker 5 (01:55:24):
And everything we're.
Speaker 56 (01:55:25):
Having so that's WHY i think you see more stability.
THERE i, mean obviously this is the. Beginning we have
another reconciliation. Package but you, know it's almost like people
are not buying into this shutdown thing. Anymore and also
for an amazing. Situation The, DEMOCRATS i think have made
a colossal, error AND i think that we have the
upper hand on this And President trump is playing it.
Speaker 5 (01:55:43):
Perfectly that's the key.
Speaker 44 (01:55:45):
Point what's the, Rush, Ared that's What i'm, saying what's the?
Speaker 49 (01:55:48):
Rush there's an old, Phrase, larry never interrupt your enemy
when he's making a.
Speaker 5 (01:55:54):
Mistake, yes and you just let these guys, go let them.
Speaker 3 (01:55:58):
Play.
Speaker 49 (01:55:59):
NO i don't want us to try to encourage the
shutdown to last.
Speaker 5 (01:56:03):
LONGER i don't want us to know that.
Speaker 49 (01:56:06):
If jeffries And schumer want to keep it, going they
are two. Things they're giving us the biggest gift ever,
politically and they're also Giving void And trump a chance
to really take out some of the areas that are
really inefficient in the. System and what you noticed ABOUT gdp,
growth which is really. Amazing we have very HIGH gdp
(01:56:26):
growth for this period of, time and we also have
very very low employment growth for this period of, time.
Speaker 5 (01:56:33):
Which tells you that the marginal workers are not very.
Productive they are. Not and what you're.
Speaker 49 (01:56:40):
Seeing happening is with all the border closed down and
the sending the illegals, back they were losing their. Employment
but it's not HURTING gdp at. All productivity is increasing.
Dramatically interest rates are not going, up which means inflation
is really coming down quite.
Speaker 5 (01:56:57):
SHARPLY i still.
Speaker 4 (01:56:58):
Think the only thing that needs to happen for the
government shutdown to end is for The president to just
Call Chuck schumer and he Came jefferson say just so you,
know On, monday you, know pit pick, whatever you, know
department pet. Project he's already put a freeze on money
(01:57:20):
that was going to Like New York state for infrastructure
things and. Whatever but go ahead and just start eliminating
a department here or department, there or one hundred people
there or a hundred people there That democrats really care.
About then all of a sudden things might change a little.
Bit you might have a government running. Again, hey, listen
you'll have a great. WEEKEND i will see You monday, morning,
(01:57:41):
brighten early five. Am hope to hear from. You the
