You're on Houston's Morning News. First guy, Mike's here, dude,
let's check the south side. Here go Freeway coming up.
You got the road work.

Speaker 3 (00:44):
It's kind of a lifestyle between tiki and BUCkies, but
for now we're getting through that nicely. Once you get
to clear like it's a twenty two minute stroll. The
endless struggle that is forty five the North Freeway. Even
though the board is clear, it's a fight getting southbound.

highemperature right about ninety five. Look at Terry in here
with the complete forecast in nine minutes from the weather Channel.
Currently it is eighty two at your officials of your

down for the news. Here's Cliff Saunders.

Speaker 6 (01:28):
Thank you, Jimmy Barrett five oh one on KTRH our
top story this hour.

Speaker 7 (01:33):
There is either a Clinton conspiracy to make this happen
or Russian disinformation. Either way, it was an attempt to
stop Trump.

Speaker 6 (01:44):
Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley, there is newly classified intelligence files
revealed that Hillary Clinton signed off on the plan for
her campaign to claim that President Trump colluded with Russia
back in twenty sixteen. The files that were declassify also
revealed that George Sorows's Open Society Foundation was tied to

(02:04):
this and dn I Telsey Gabbard says she's got a
whistleblower who's come forward saying they were threatened to go
along with the Obama Russia hoax five h two. We
did have a Joe Biden signing for the first time
in months. Last night. He spoke at the National Bar
Association dinner in Chicago, and of course he attacked President Trump.

Speaker 8 (02:25):
The executive branch, Christine's doing his best to dismantle the Constitution.

Speaker 4 (02:30):
I'm being dead with earnest.

Speaker 6 (02:31):
Man claiming that Trump is quote just starting. Meantime, another
Biden ad testified for the House Oversight Committee about his
cognitive health. Mike Donlin admitted that he would have made
up to eight million dollars if Biden had one reelection,
another reason that Democrats took so long to dump him
last year. And then there was Kamala Harris, who went
on Stephen Colbert Show on CBS last night asked herself

(02:55):
about Joe's fitness to serve the.

Speaker 8 (02:58):
Executive branch for Sin's doing his best.

Speaker 6 (03:01):
Lab Well, that was supposed to be Kamala Harris, but
she actually never answered the question directly, so it doesn't
really matter. She also claims that she doesn't watch the
news after her loss because she's not quote into self mutilation.
Kamala closed the door for one potential political move, but
another door remains wide open.

Speaker 9 (03:20):
Harris says she won't run for California governor, but is
coming out with a new book detailing her run for
the presidency last year, called one hundred and Seven Days.
Political analyst Jeff Krueer suspects Harris is not done with politics.

Speaker 10 (03:32):
To preserve her political viability in the future, she decided
to forego that race and try to rebuild her reputation,
rebuild her political standing to run again for president in
twenty twenty eight. I mean, that's what I think she
is planning to do.

Speaker 9 (03:46):
Recent polls show Harris is still among the Democrat leaders
for twenty twenty eight, along with the likes of Gavin
Newsom and Pete Buddha. Judge Corey Jolson, who's Radio seven
forty KTRH.

Speaker 6 (03:55):
Five oh four now on KTRH.

Speaker 11 (03:57):
Why didn't you invoke this law in your first You
could have taken in billions upon billions of dollars in
your first term, but you waited until your second.

Speaker 12 (04:06):
Hear because in my first term I was fighting lunatics
like you.

Speaker 6 (04:09):
Ooh, President Trump putting a reporter on blast for that
question about tariffs. Today is the deadline for deals to
get done. Trump raising tariffs on Canada yesterday to thirty
five percent. He set tariffs on dozens of other countries
as well. Now, the left claim that tariffs would put
the economy into depression, not just recession depression. Of course,

(04:31):
that hasn't happened. Richard Stern with the Heritage Foundation says
Trump has worked at miracles by using tariffs for pressure
in trade talks.

Speaker 5 (04:38):
We have seen.

Speaker 13 (04:39):
American presidents who either don't care about form policy at all,
or they care about it that they're trying to frankly
chase the Nobel Peace Prize. Have you seen Karen Trump
as an American president who parents about what forn policy
means for America?

Speaker 6 (04:54):
He says, the tariff talks have produced one crucial benefit,
squeezing out the Chinese. Meantime, overnight trading is down across
the board, down for futures, down four hundred and nine points.
We get the July jobs numbers later this morning, five
oh five on KTRH. You know when the left isn't
attacking Trump, they go to the culture wars.

Speaker 14 (05:15):
Jans are passed on from parents to offspring, often determining
traits like her color, personality, leave, and eye color.

Speaker 6 (05:23):
Yeah, that's from the Sydney Sweeney American Eagle jeans ad
that has the left throwing a hissy fit for days now.

Speaker 15 (05:30):
One TikToker went as far as to say that the
American Eagle ad is racist and fascist.

Speaker 16 (05:35):
A blonde, blue eyed white woman talking about her good gens.

Speaker 4 (05:40):
That is not c propaganda.

Speaker 15 (05:43):
Kenny Webster with our sister station AM nine to fifty
KPRC says, this woke outrage is only going to hurt
the left.

Speaker 17 (05:49):
That's not going to move the needle with independence. It's
not going to move the needle with people in the middle.
They're pandering to a group of people right now that
are making them look crazy.

Speaker 15 (05:57):
Webster says, this is an example of how the only
Democrats that are motivated right now are all the radicals.
Ethan Buchanan News Radio seven forty KRH.

Speaker 6 (06:04):
And then you've got former Transportation Secretary Pete Buddha Judge
who might run for president, and of course now he
says he's against men playing women's sports right Bart's Warnertud
Houston says, it's only because the issue is as one
sided as it is.

Speaker 18 (06:19):
Some of them do realize that they've tracked way too
far to the left. Unfortunately, they're really stuck in a
hard place at Democrats. They have to continue to push
these extremist ideals.

Speaker 4 (06:29):
Where they won't win.

Speaker 18 (06:30):
They can't make any headway.

Speaker 6 (06:31):
Eighty percent of Americans don't believe that biological men should
compete in women's sports. Five oh six, we mentioned the
rumor yesterday. Jimmy, you laughed at it. The Astros made
a couple of moves at the deadline, and one of
them was to bring back Carlos Korea in a deal
with the Twins.

Speaker 4 (06:47):
I don't recall laughing at that.

Speaker 6 (06:49):
You poop poot it. You definitely did. They also acquired
outfielder Jeses Sanchez from Miami. They're in Boston tonight, pregame
at five on Sports Talk seven ninety, the game at six,
and KTRH joins in progress at seven. I'm close Saunders
on Houston's News whether in traffic station News Radio seven
forty k TRH.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
More with Jimmy Barrett and the Houston Morning news teams.

Speaker 4 (07:12):
This is Houston's Morning News.

Speaker 5 (07:16):
I don't recall pooing the idea of bringing Carlos Korea back.
Maybe I poo pooed the idea that they would spend
the money to bring Carlos Korea back. Of course, they
didn't have to spend all that money. Minnesota is on
the hook for some of the money, which is how
that deal came about. They sent a minor league left
handed pitcher and cash considerations. I think the cash considerations

(07:39):
were on behalf of the Minnesota Twins paying a portion
of Carlos Korea's salary. After all, it's their fault he
makes so much money. But he certainly solves the need.
And certainly the so called I'll put that in their quotes,
so called baseball experts were really excited yesterday about the
deal that the Astros man. Here's how it came down

(08:01):
on ESPN.

Speaker 19 (08:02):
The big acquisition was Carlo's Korea. You go and you
bring him back home. He waives the no trade clause.
Buster said it earlier, the Minnesota Twins giving out the
Houston Astros thirty three million dollars to go along with
Carlos Violle Korea to help out on that trade. He's
been there, he's done it, he's won there before, and
he's been a huge part of their success. Look, Peigna

(08:25):
right now is hurt yes, you need a third basement.
But when Penya comes back, Before he comes back, I
expect Correa to be a short then transition over to
third base. He's done it when the World Baseball Classic
for Puerto Rico. I think this is a great move
for the Houston Astros and it tells everyone we're still around.
Let's not forget Sanchez as well as Zus Sanchez got

(08:45):
added to the Houston Astros. The Houston Astros are saying, Okay, Seattle,
you guys made moves. Texas, you made moves. Angels, you're
making moves. We're still in first place by five games.

Speaker 4 (08:56):
That's a fact.

Speaker 5 (08:58):
And if we weren't in first place by five games,
they probably would have never done what they did, because,
after all, it it does cost more money, and you know,
there's only a certain amount of salary that Jim Crane's
comfortable paying.

Speaker 4 (09:09):
But hey, I think it's great.

Speaker 5 (09:13):
I think it makes a lot of sense, not just
because he can play a position that we desperately need
somebody at right now, third base. In Mezy just said
shortstop if Penia is not quite ready to come back,
but I think Painia would be I think Pay's supposed
to join the club. Last I heard this weekend, so
I don't know if he's going to start right away
or not, but i'd expect tonight the Astros will have

(09:34):
the game right here in KTRH. By the way, the
Astros starting at seven o'clock will join it in progress
because it's an earlier game in East Coast time, but
they are I would assume Carlos Crey would be in
the lineup tonight. I would think so for the Astros.
So here's my question of today. How excited are you
that Carlos Corey is coming back or are you not excited?
What do you think the astros chances are of repeating

(09:59):
as a chance becas of the American League West by
what they did at the trade deadline. You don't have
to be a sports expert to weigh in on this one.
Just an Astros fan. You go to the iHeartRadio ap KTRH,
begas number one on your presect, hit the talk back button.
You get up to the thirty seconds. First name, where
you're calling from, and your thoughts. I'm bringing back Carlos
Korea right now? Five ten, time for traffic and weather together.

(10:21):
Doo it per se. But you gave it just like
a little mild flatulence. Oh okay, Well, probably because I
didn't think it was gonna happen. No, okay, not because
I wouldn't be Not that I don't like the idea.

Speaker 4 (10:31):
You're not against it. I'm not not at all. Okay,
are you kidding? No, let's huh. Let's hit your northwest
side here too. Forty nine.

Speaker 3 (10:39):
There's people going to have a heart attack because I'm
talking about the Tomball toll Way and two forty nine
Tomball Parkway. Coming down from Pinehurst, we look good, Magnolia,
you rock. I haven't heard from anybody from Magnolia in
a long time, and i'd love to seven one three
two one two tips and.

Speaker 4 (10:58):
Coming down to the Beltway, we're wide open. Two ninety.
You had a grand march at your wedding. You look good.

Speaker 3 (11:01):
Grand Parkway to the West Loops and easy stroll in
and you're Katie Freeway from Sinco Ranch into the President's
Heads twenty five minutes clear board for now, Terry.

Speaker 4 (11:11):
I think I got to say hair in dust still.

Speaker 3 (11:13):
I'm in the USA Rveresorts dot Com traffic Center.

Speaker 5 (11:16):
From r KTRH Top tax Defenders twenty four hour. Weather
Center Terry is here. She's got the forecast for you.
Rain chances kickup. Well, how are the rain chances day?
Were you think of forty percent?

Speaker 20 (11:28):
I'm thinking about a thirty percent chance of those thunder showers.
I think we'll see a better chance of rein heading
into the weekend. It's just a matter of getting a
little bit more moisture to make its way into southeast Texas,
and we're seeing that slowly. It's that low pressure system

(11:48):
around the Gulf that's just been kind of drifting westward.
So we've got some sprinkles out there right now, mainly
on the north side of the Bay near Annawak north
to Vanawhack. There's a little bit of rain and a
shower too near Texas City. And that's about it for
the morning. As we head into the afternoon, you've got
a better chance of getting wet. It's going to be

(12:09):
a warm day again like yesterday, mid upper nineties. But
our rain chances do increase over the weekend. Sixty percent
chance of showers and storms tomorrow, fifty percent. Chants on Sunday, Monday,
and Tuesday is still a forty percent chance of rain,
and since we have a little more in the way
of clouds and rain. Temperatures will be back in the
lod to mid nineties starting tomorrow and into early next week.

Speaker 5 (12:32):
Right now, it's eighty two at your official severe weather station,
News Radio seven forty ktrhday It's.

Speaker 2 (12:38):

Now back to Jimmy Barrits and the Houston Morning News team.

Speaker 4 (12:45):
All the info you need did take on the day.

Speaker 5 (12:48):
So last night, Kamala Harris was on Stephen Colbert. What
a perfect couple they were too, both well, one of
them out of work, the other one will be out
of work in June. So uh and did you hear
the President Trump got asked if he was interested in
buying Kamala's new book. I don't which he's in the

(13:09):
quote unquote in the process of writing. She's promoting a
book that hasn't even been completed yet. It's in the process.
And by the way, do you think that she actually
wrote it? I mean, who's the ghostwriter on this thing?
Who's the audience for this book? It's called one hundred
and seven days. That's how long her campaign for president was.

(13:30):
More on what the President reacted, or how he reacted
when asked if he would buy her book, and a
little snippet from her appearance last night with Stephen Colbert
coming up first, though I smell punchlines.

Speaker 4 (13:41):
Do you trust not me? This morning? I don't think
I got enough sleep, but I know people can help on.

Speaker 3 (13:46):
The free Iart radio app. I really can feeling this.
Let's do some grand Parkway. I just can't believe, you know,
I used to live over by Mont Belvy Old River,
and I can't believe how much that place is grow.
I can't believe that giant HIV, all that giant shopping
right there.

Speaker 4 (14:01):
Wow. I tend at Eagle Drive. What we look good
on this site.

Speaker 3 (14:04):
Here you can go up Graham Parkway, get around the
trains and Dayton and if you're trying to go to
New Canny, no problem.

Speaker 4 (14:10):
Now New Canny going that way going westbound.

Speaker 3 (14:13):
If you're somebody's butler and Tomball, you're looking good this morning.
And the west part of Graham Parkway. You know, one
of these days out by rose Hill it's going to
be like all these crazy big communities. Right now, it's
just Calpastri. I like it like that, heading down to
sugar Land now.

Speaker 4 (14:26):
Wide open, full speed ahead.

Speaker 3 (14:29):
Give me all the help you can this morning seven
one three two one two tips.

Speaker 4 (14:33):
Somebody out there needs to be me. I'm Skymichael, the
Generator Supercenter dot Com.

Speaker 5 (14:37):
Traffic center from r KTRH top tax Defenders, twenty four
hour weather center. For today, We're looking at Skuys. Starting
off a little bit on the cloudy side. Anyway, there
is a slight stray shower chance coming up with a
high temperature read about ninety five four tomorrow. Part of
the county early scattered afteroon showers and storms, mix of
sun and clouds. Fifty percent chance of a shower storm

(14:58):
on Sunday. Looks like low nineties for the weekend. Right now,
it is eighty two at your official severe weather station,
News Radio seven forty KTRH. It's Friday's time to check
out some of our top stories. Here's Cliff, Thank you, Jimmy.

Speaker 21 (15:11):

Speaker 6 (15:12):
Democrats come to Texas to complain about redistricting. President Trump
wants the Senate to stay in session all this months
to confirm the nearly one hundred and fifty nominees that
are still in limbo, and Governor Ron de Santez has
declared today, Hulk Hogan day. I'll tell you what brother,

Speaker 4 (15:47):
How I listen to KTRH.

Speaker 5 (15:48):
Chanstad later, he really doesn't matter what part of the
Colbert interview that I did I share. As far as
Kamala Harris, she didn't talk really about anything, not that
I would expect her to really because that I don't.
I'm not sure she even knows yet what's going to

(16:09):
be in the book. She claims she's that's what she's
been working on ever since the end of the election.
But anyway, we start with President Trump asked yesterday before
her appearance if he had interest in buying her book,
and then a little just a little snippet because it
wasn't you know, it wasn't anything all that fun or funny.

(16:32):
Just a little snippet from her appearance last night was
Stephen Colbert.

Speaker 4 (16:35):
He's also coming out of the book. They plans to
buy it. I don't know.

Speaker 12 (16:41):
I think I'm going to buy it. I'd love to
see it now, I know i'd find it. Look, I
find everything in politics interesting. I thought it was a
very strange campaign that we had. I wouldn't call her
a skilled politician, Madam by president.

Speaker 22 (16:56):
It's nice to see again. First of all, you look rested.

Speaker 4 (17:06):
Yeah, I'm happy for you.

Speaker 20 (17:08):
Thank you.

Speaker 4 (17:10):
WHOA, I'm fine.

Speaker 1 (17:11):
I'll get funny rest in June.

Speaker 15 (17:13):
Yeah, the first time you've been here.

Speaker 22 (17:18):
As just a just a citizen NS Corman official.

Speaker 1 (17:21):
Does your eighth visit to this show?

Speaker 23 (17:22):
Yes?

Speaker 22 (17:23):
Or thank you for being here once you left office.

Speaker 4 (17:26):
I'm just curious.

Speaker 22 (17:26):
I'm gonna get into the details and i'm gonna I
want to talk about your your coming book for one
hundred and seven.

Speaker 4 (17:33):
But before we do that, I'm just curious.

Speaker 22 (17:36):
Once once you left office, how long before you turned
on the news again?

Speaker 6 (17:43):
Months?

Speaker 4 (17:45):
Months?

Speaker 24 (17:45):
I am you know, I'm just not into self mutilation,
and I just I am lots of cooking shows.

Speaker 4 (17:54):
Oh good, Bake Off and Stuff.

Speaker 24 (17:57):
Is one of my favorite.

Speaker 2 (17:58):
Amazing sure yeah yeah, Oh so she's a big cooking
show fan.

Speaker 5 (18:05):
Maybe it's going to be a cookbook, maybe one hundred
and seven days is going to be one hundred and
seven different recipes that you can make. You know, if
there won't be I think any enlightening commentary on the
Biden thing I've done as mental acuity. I don't think
she'll she'll tackle that one. I don't know what she's

(18:29):
going to say about her campaign one hundred and seven
days worth of campaigning. I'm sure it'll be some revisionist
history there. Like I said, I have no idea who
the ghostwriter is going to be on this one, and
that I think will probably dictate dictate the content. I
think I'd rather have the cookbook I could. I might
actually pick it up. She might, she probably. I mean

(18:50):
she didn't do anything during the Biden administration. She probably
had plenty of times to perfect perfect some recipes. Yeah, cookbook.
I think we go with the cookbook twenty six. It
is time to take your look at girl. Buddy. Here's
Jeff Ellinger.

Speaker 4 (19:03):
And good morning, Jimmy.

Speaker 25 (19:05):
Tariff's the job market and Derning's reports will likely factor
into investor's decisions today. President Trump is moving ahead with
efforts to reshape international commerce with new tariffs that he
just announced rates vary from nation to nation. Bloomberg Economics
says the average rate is just over fifteen percent. The
Labor Department releases the July employment report before the markets

(19:28):
open this morning. Economists think the pace of hiring slowed
last month, with about one hundred four thousand workers added
to payrolls. FED chair Jerome Powell indicated this week that
he's most concerned with the unemployment rate, which forecasters think
TechEd up a tenth of a percent to four point
two percent. Chevron just checked in this morning, reporting a

(19:49):
better than expected adjusted profit for the second quarter and
issuing an upbeat forecast. Apple and Amazon dot Com posted
quarterly results after the markets closed yesterday. Apple's numbers top
forecasts as revenue surged. Amazon's revenue and profit increased, but
investors were disappointed by the company's cloud growth. I'm Jeff Beldinger,

higher tariffs are starting today, especially for Canada, and coming
up at five point thirty eight, Trump and bringing back
the presidential fitness test details in the minutes ahead. First,
let's check out that morning drive a sky mike right.

Speaker 3 (20:57):
So far, it's kind of Friday like on our roads.

Speaker 6 (21:56):
Thank you very much, Jimmy. It is five thirty one
on k TRHR, top story this hour.

Speaker 27 (22:02):
This effort to undermine their ability for free and fair
election to occur is going to hurt their quality of life.

Speaker 6 (22:10):
House minoriti Leader Hakim Jeffries in Austin with Texas Democrats
who plan to leave the state rather than the legislate.
They're all ignoring that California's Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom is
apparently plotting a redistricting effort in that blue state. Now,
the left is also trying to tout State Representative James
Tallarico out of Austin as a contender for John Cornyn's

(22:31):
US Senate seat next year. But after a recent appearance
on Joe Rogan's podcast, he's being called out by local
pastors for arguing that the Bible is pro abortion.

Speaker 28 (22:43):
These statements are not going to stand up to any
kind of cross examination or legitimate theological scrutiny. He's not
expecting anyone to really go do the homework. He's just
throwing these ideas out.

Speaker 6 (22:54):
Pastor Aaron Wright says tall Rico is just trying to
push a political agenda. Lawmakers were in Kerrville yesterday for
hearing over the deadly flooding from July fourth. Lieutenant Governor
Dan Patrick assuring residents that lawmakers are in this for
the long haul.

Speaker 21 (23:09):
Understand, this is not the end, this is the beginning.
We will pass bills dealing with the immediacy of things
that we can address now.

Speaker 6 (23:20):
One proposal that's getting bronze support is installing a new
flood warning system five point thirty three on KGRH. The
deadline is come and gone. Tariffs will now be put
in place for countries that did not make deals with
the Trump administration.

Speaker 29 (23:34):
The biggest country and biggest market in the world can
impose tariffs in order to address blatant cheating and do
it in a way which increases the growth of the
United States without inducing inflation.

Speaker 6 (23:48):

tariffs on Canada to thirty five percent, but gave Mexico

Important to remember that and remember this. Tariffs up till

the way the left said it would. Five point thirty

Now he's working on Biden's immigration court backlog.

Speaker 30 (24:25):
The latest numbers show that more than three hundred and
twenty six thousand asylum cases have been cleared since January.
Art Arthur with the Center for Immigration Studies says that's
a lot.

Speaker 6 (25:21):
Former ICE special agent Victor Ovulos says none of this
would be necessary if Dems weren't boxing ICE agents and
remember a tax on these agents are up eight hundred

Trump is putting the mainstream media in its place. He's
winning lawsuits, so we're just honest reporting. He's gotten liberal
organizations like NPR defunded. To Paul University's Jeff maccaus is

(25:46):
the results. Some outlets are changing there too.

Speaker 32 (25:49):
There are some establishment media outlets that are getting the
message and figuring out that they need to find a
new balance. The Washington Post has made some strikes to
try to say we're not going to be purely active
just anymore.

Speaker 6 (26:01):
McCall says, the mainstream media now realizes that there aren't
alternatives to their products, so they have to change. With
the new school year starting next week, the left is
crying over the use of the Texas Blue Bonnet curriculum,
you know, because it includes Bible versus.

Speaker 33 (26:17):
And locally, Conroe ISD is implementing the reading portion of
a plan.

Speaker 34 (26:23):
The primary issue is is this curriculum going to turn
our students into better readers? Leaving that it will.

Speaker 33 (26:28):
That is Melissa Semler, who is on the Conroe ISD
Board of Trustees.

Speaker 34 (26:34):
I know there has been some controversy discussed with the curriculums. Ideologies,
don't teach reading reading, teaches reading, just John teachers, not
all these ideologies.

Wat Did you see the President Trump wants to bring
back the presidential fitness test? Yes, the presidential fitness test
was done in the schools. Did they do the presidential
fitness test when you were in school? They did when
I was in school, especially when I was in elementary school.

(28:23):
Where you were they were testing you to make sure
that you know you had you had some sort of
physical fitness. Now, it wasn't much of a test. It started,
by the way, in July nineteen fifty six, President Dwight
Eisenhower created the President's Council on Youth Fitness by Executive Order,
and they came up with the Presidential Fitness Test. Here's

(28:46):
what you were supposed to be able to do. Oh
but what was okay? Here's here's what they had. You
tested you on pull ups for boys, modified pull ups
for girls. Oh see, girls get it easier, sit ups,
shuttle run, standing broad jump, fifty yard dash, and a

(29:07):
softball throw for distance. The Council later added a seventh item,
a six hundred yard walk run after consulting the American
Red Cross. They listed multiple aquatic tests originally, but back
in the day a lot of schools didn't have swimming pools,
so they took away the aquatic stuff. But you were
only expected to do like a couple of pull ups,

(29:27):
maybe two pull ups.

Speaker 4 (29:29):
You know.

Speaker 5 (29:30):
It wasn't a very string and test by stretch of
the imagination. But they gave up doing that a long
long time ago. I think they kind of gave up
doing it back when there were a lot of schools
that were elminating certain extracurricular activities like fizzed in order
to cut costs, but President Trump wants to bring it back.
Five point forty time for traffic and weather together. How

(29:52):
many pull ups could you do?

Speaker 4 (29:53):
Oh gosh, eighteen twenty.

Speaker 1 (29:56):
You know what I can't do.

Speaker 3 (29:58):
I could not climb that rope. I don't know why
I could. Either must be the big butt or something.

Speaker 4 (30:02):
I don't know. I just cannot. You can't climb the rope. Okay,
I know better, must be the big feet.

Speaker 3 (30:07):
Let's go with the Southwest Freeway northbound at the West
Park Tollway. No, that's southbound. Okay, we're responding both ways.
That's not a good sign. This is a wreck and
we're taking multiple lanes both ways on your Southwest Freeway.
All of a sudden, the digital isn't showing it yet,
but I know it's about to get ugly right here.
Let's start rerouting already, just being proactive.

Speaker 4 (30:27):
If the kd' is an option, do the KD. It
looks good. Twenty four minutes from.

Speaker 3 (30:30):

take the Beltway or do some loops and belts. You're

Speaker 37 (31:04):
Yeah, I think more of us will get some rain tomorrow.

Speaker 20 (31:07):
I do have a question for both of you guys, though, Okay,
did either of you get any rain or see any
rain yesterday?

Speaker 4 (31:13):
I did not know. Did we see either? I've still
got that Saharan dust.

Speaker 37 (31:17):
You do not have Saharan dunce in my nose? Well,
blow your nose?

Speaker 4 (31:23):
Okay, I got you covered, not right now though, yeah?

Speaker 6 (31:25):
Not only all right?

Speaker 20 (31:28):
Well, we are seeing a slow increase in our chances
of rain, and if we had the Saharan dusk, mikey,
we probably wouldn't see much in the way of rain,
but we do have some and it continues into early
next week. Today it's only a thirty percent chance of
showers and thunderstors. We've had a few sprinkles on the
east side already this morning, but it'll be the afternoon
before we really get anything to come down out of

(31:50):
the clouds. Mid upper nineties today, sixty percent chance of
thunder showers tomorrow and a fifty percent chance of more
rain Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Chance of showers and storms
most of us in the afternoon, So you got outdoor
plans this weekend. Morning hours might work a little bit
better than later in the day. Nice thing is with
the clouds in the rain, the temperatures are behaving for

(32:12):
the first day of August. It's August already load to
mid nineties Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday right down.

Speaker 4 (32:18):
To eighty two.

Speaker 5 (32:19):
At your official severe weather station, News Radio seven forty KTRH.
So thay Astro's news yesterday, we've already been talking about it.
I'd like to get your opinion on it. You can
answer our question today by going to the iHeartRadio app.
Makes number one on your preset, you hit the talkback button,
you get up to thirty seconds. You probably don't need
thirty seconds, but you get up to thirty seconds. First

(32:41):
name where you're calling from, and your thoughts about bringing
back Carlos Korea. They traded with the Minnesota Twins to
get them back. They gave up a minor lead picture
and there's cash, cash considerations. The cash considerations came from
the Minnesota Twins. They had a fire sale yesterday. They
got rid of twelve players. I think they're selling the
team is what it is. So they were cut and

(33:03):
payroll left and right. They've agreed to pay thirty million
dollars on what's left of Carlos Korea's contract, which I
believe is through twenty twenty eight. So that brings it
down to a price more amenable to the Astros, which
is of course why you know he left in the
for quote unquote greener pastures. Well it turned out wasn't

(33:24):
greener pastors.

Speaker 21 (33:24):
Right.

Speaker 5 (33:25):
He seems to be very excited about coming back. He's
a great presence in the clubhouse, he really is. And
he's not a half bad player either, very good player.
You know, part of the homegrown dynasty that got started
with the World Series winning in twenty seventeen. I'm glad
to see him back. I'm wondering what you think. Do
you think you think how much do you think this

(33:46):
helps the Astros going forward for the rest of this season?
Again the iHeartRadio app. You hit the talkback button once
you get there, and you get up to thirty seconds.
First name, where you're calling from, your thoughts of the
return of Carlos Korea. First though five point fifty little
traffic and weather together and checking again a sky mine.

Speaker 3 (34:02):
See, if you think about it, the twins are really
having an estate sale because I think they're just they're
just killing themselves off. Let's go back to that Southwest
Freeway thing.

Speaker 4 (34:10):
WHOA clear it that fast? Get out of here?

Speaker 3 (34:12):
All right, all right, all right, I was about to
re route. Everybody, Stay of the course. Southwest Freeway looks good. Now,
let's go back to the Brass River and outbound. We
did the lane shift over the bridge, but we look

we wanted to.

Speaker 5 (36:10):
Now Here in Houston's morning news yesterday in Kerrville, you
had the state officials, local officials and the public all
gathered together to ask questions about how officials handled the
warning system of the flood that was coming. And it

(36:31):
comes to find out they didn't handle it very well.
This is from our television partner, KPRC two is a
Houston lawmaker questions local officials in Kerrville about what happened.
Hang on, let me try to hit that one more time.

Speaker 39 (36:48):
You said at three point thirty when people were having
to get off the roof. That's the moment for all
hands on deck. And I'm trying to figure out is
there an existing system that could have gone out to
people in flood waters way to reach higher ground or
are you missing that system?

Speaker 4 (37:05):
No, we do have a code red system that something
can be put out, yes, ma'am.

Speaker 39 (37:09):
But for whatever reason in this moment, there was nobody
to properly sound the alarm. Is that what I'm hearing?

Speaker 4 (37:17):
They did not send the code red and tell.

Speaker 7 (37:19):
Ma'am until five oh one.

Speaker 39 (37:24):
I have numerous folks from our area that have lost
families in this event. And it is my understanding that
there were little girls with water around their feet at
two am at Mystic and we're told stay in your cabin,
and those little girls did what they were instructed.

Speaker 4 (37:48):
What if any system is there.

Speaker 39 (37:50):
Available for Kerr County officials to hear from campsites on
the river in a flood zone to better coordinate to
send out a warning. Is there any way right now?
Was there a way from Mystic at two am to
tell you we have water at our ankles.

Speaker 40 (38:11):
I'm going to defer to our emergency management William Thomas
kirk Kenny. Is it working, okay, William Thomas kirk Kenny.
So there were a number of National Weather Service alerts
that went out that egent.

Speaker 39 (38:23):
I'm not asking about the National weather because that's prediction.

Speaker 1 (38:26):
I'm talking about.

Speaker 39 (38:27):
The reality on the ground of little girls in their
bunks with water around their feet at two am. Did
you have any idea that that was happening and was
there a mechanism in place, because if it's happening at
Camp Mystic, you've got every other camp in this recreational
zone at risk. What was the protocol in the process

(38:47):
to warn people when that scenario comes up?

Speaker 40 (38:50):
To my knowledge, we were not notified that the girls
had water in your camp.

Speaker 41 (38:56):
And despite that last piece of testimony, the Sheriff's office
did testify that they did get a call at three
fifty seven am from Cantnistic that they were trapped they
needed help getting out of there. So what lawmakers say
they're going to have to come up with are pieces
of legislation that will codify into law backup plan. So
when you hit these counties that have you know, their

(39:17):
short staff, don't have a lot of staff, and the
main people who are responsible for coordinating emergency efforts in
the emergency response efforts. What is the backup plan that
that has to be in place in case those officials
are out of pocket like.

Speaker 4 (39:30):
They were here.

Speaker 5 (39:31):
And maybe the biggest problem evidently the head of emergency
management or I'm not sure if it was him or
the judge, but he was in bed to sleep sick,
and nobody woke him up until five am, so he
didn't even know what was going on. And there's several
hours lost right there, five point fifty six. Now here

Kamala Harris cackling through an appearance on CBS with soon

of course, about her failed presidential campaign called one hundred

six ZHO three, and with more Russia gig files being declassified,
we are now finding out just who was involved in

(43:03):
the hoax.

Speaker 43 (43:04):
The now declassified annex includes several emails originally hacked by
Russian intelligence, detailing confidential conversations between the then top brass
of the DNC and a man named Leonard from the
George Soros backed Open Society Foundations, the Soros backed group saying,
among other things, that the Duram report found no wrongdoing

(43:26):
by its staff, and they further contend this is all
part of a politically motivated campaign to weaponize Russian disinformation.

Speaker 6 (43:33):
Boxes Kevin Cork. By the way, the files also revealed
that Hillary Clinton, Yes, Hillary signed off on the campaign
to smear then candadate Trump. Coming up on six p
oh four on KGRH.

Speaker 4 (43:47):
Pay a fair right, that's all. It's very simple.

Speaker 6 (43:50):
President Trump raising tariffs on Canada to thirty five percent.
He also said tariffs on dozens of other countries as
the deadline for trade deals officially hit today. Despite claims
by the left, there has been no recession, no depression
due to tariffs, and Trump has already made deals with
countries like Japan, the UK, and the EU.

Speaker 42 (44:10):
Even tariff skeptics give the president credit.

Speaker 13 (44:13):
To the extend aton and negotiating posters more miracles. In
the long run, gariffs are attacks on your consumers and
your producers.

Speaker 42 (44:21):
Richard Stern with the Heritage Foundation says fair trade is
a huge win, but he says a crucial part of
the equation is one that's not making the headlines China.

Speaker 13 (44:28):
Part of what Trump is trying to do here he
is rewrite the global trading regime so that those flows
go through the US and not through China, and so
that everybody is more connected to us. So it is
critical that the President Shu succeeded achieving.

Speaker 42 (44:42):
That once all the trade talks and deals settled down.
Stern hopes all the tariffs will ultimately end up add zero.
Charles Malino, News Radio seven forty k TRH.

Speaker 6 (44:50):
Thank you, Charles. As far as overnight trading down, futures
are down five hundred and fifteen points this morning. You
can blame the mainstream media fear mongering for that. Six
five on KGRH. The left has been outraged all week
about the American Eagle ad featuring Sydney Sweeney, the actress.
They're saying it features her because she's blonde haired and

(45:11):
blue eyed, and they're calling it racist.

Speaker 17 (45:14):
There's one group of people that's motivated right now, and
they're the kind of people that are offended by the
mere presence of an attractive blonde woman. They have to
pander to these people because that's who's motivated.

Speaker 6 (45:26):
Kenny Webster with our TV with our sister station AM
nine fifty KPRC says that if the Democrats continue to
pander to the radical left, it's just going to drive
moderate voters away from the party. Eighty percent of Americans
don't want men competing in women's sports, and now even
a prominent Democrat agrees, well sort of.

Speaker 33 (45:47):
Pete Budaje Edge recently acknowledged fairness issues.

Speaker 18 (45:52):
He was all in for all this garbage until all
of a sudden now, so it's pretty cynical.

Speaker 33 (45:57):
That's bright Bart's Warner Todd Houston, who says this is
only because of all of the backlash.

Speaker 18 (46:04):
A smart enough can knowa that the Democrat Party has
gone so far to the left that they have no
wide appeal. So I think he's trying to look like
he's tracking to the middle.

Speaker 33 (46:13):
And hoping to make a run for the presidency. Jeff Biggs,

Speaker 6 (46:20):
The Big Beautiful Bill included eighty five million dollars in
instructions for NASA to bring the Space Shuttle Discovery to Houston.
The problem is they don't own it. The Smithsonian does.

Speaker 44 (46:32):
Anything that is given to the Smithsonian, whether it's there
in Space Museum or the American Museum of Natural History,
is deeded to that institution from the government. Think ownership
no longer resides with the US government.

Speaker 6 (46:45):
Space expert Keith Cowing says, on top of that, transportation
of the shuttle and constructing housing for it near the
Johnson Space Center would likely cost hundreds of millions of dollars.

Speaker 4 (47:30):
Here about the President.

Speaker 5 (47:31):
He's building a ballroom. Yeah, there's a there's a construction
blitz to build a ballroom for the White House.

Speaker 4 (47:38):
I had no idea.

Speaker 5 (47:41):
They say that, well, right now, the East Room at
the White House is the only place they have where
you can gather a decent number of people, but it
only holds like two hundred people. So they have decided.
The President has decided he's tired of seeing these large,
unsightly tents about one hundred yards away from the main building,
entrants being used when you're trying to, you know, have

(48:03):
an event that where you can host up to maybe
six seven hundred people. So they are going to build
a ballroom. He's gathered together, he's donated, he's gotten a
lot of his friends to donate. He's put together a
two hundred million dollar plan. The architect was chosen a
well known Washington d C. Architecture firm that's going to

(48:27):
build this building, which will be behind the White House,
not directly attached to the White House, but behind the
White House, and will look like the White House. I mean,
it looked like it was. It's always been there. And
of course, as President trumpets say, it's going to be big,
it's going to beautiful, and it's going to not only
serve part of my administration, but you know, it's for

(48:50):
the American people and the presidents who come after. And
he's going to get it done. And not only are
they scheduled to start in September as very fast, but
he says the project will be done before long before
the end of his term, so he plans he plans
on using it before he's out of office, which would

(49:13):
make it a very unusual project for Washington, d C.
By the way, don't be surprised if it comes in
on time and on budget, A very very different than
Jerome Powell. And is what three point six billion dollar
renovation of the Federal Building behind schedule, cost overruns. Now,
if there's one thing President Trump knows how to do
other than what he's doing right now, it's how to

(49:36):
build something six' ten time for traffick and weather.

Speaker 45 (55:26):
You know there's just so much.

Speaker 1 (55:28):
There good, Morning.

Speaker 4 (55:29):
JIMMY i know what.

Speaker 45 (55:31):
Has been you, know let out publicly the last week is.
Unbelievable now the latest of latest apparently there's a whistleblower
who's saying that they were threatened to go along with
This russia. Hope so, yeah it's it's it's, startling And
i'm still. DUMBFOUNDED i GUESS i shouldn't be too surprised
that the mainstream media literally right now is not even

(55:54):
attempting to cover. It and of course they were part
of the issue because they peddled that lie About Russia trump.
Collusion so it's you, know it's mind numbing what's coming.

Speaker 5 (56:05):
Out charges have to come from, this don't you, THINK i,
mean how could we ever possibly trust government? Again and
without charges coming out on, this.

Speaker 1 (56:14):
You, KNOW i would.

Speaker 5 (56:15):
Think.

Speaker 45 (56:15):
SO i guess we'll. See there is A strikeforce investigation
right NOW, dj and they're looking into a lot of
other things within THE, dj.

Speaker 18 (56:24):
So we we shall.

Speaker 45 (56:25):
SEE i would, assume, yes there will be some.

Speaker 5 (56:28):
Indictments and what about the burn? BAGS i Guess i'm
not surprised that THE fbi has something called burn bags
where they put sense of information that eventually is going
to be. Destroyed but why would you leave all, that
and especially when you're directly involved as THE fbi, director
why would you leave or have that stuff left somewhere
where a new administration and a NEW fbi director could find.

Speaker 45 (56:49):
It you, know that's a very good, question And i'm
sure a bunch of people are asking. Themselves but you
know who didn't burn the? BAG i guess nobody burned the.

Speaker 4 (56:59):
Bag somebody let him. DOWN i.

Speaker 5 (57:02):
Guess all, right let's talk About. Kamalist she's got a
brand new book out Called one and Seven, days AND
i learned last night On Stephen colbert that she's been
watching cooking shows since she lost the. Election that's almost
exclusively what she's been. Doing So i'm, morning what do you?
Think do you think this is going to be a?

Speaker 45 (57:20):
Cookbook oh, gosh it might be a cooked, book but
not a. Cookbook but you know it, is you, know
teach his. Own you, know if she's your cup of,
tea that's. Fine BUT i find her just like most
of The Democratic party right, now, rudderless not making any.
Sense and it's it's a little, embarrassing even or not

(57:43):
even a, little it is.

Speaker 21 (57:44):
Embarrassing.

Speaker 5 (57:45):
Yeah she declined in that, interview by the, way to
name who the leader of The democrats are at this,
point which tells me that they are either, well it
tells me their leaderless at this. Point, right there is
no real leader of The Democrat party.

Speaker 1 (58:00):
And, no, no not at.

Speaker 45 (58:01):
ALL i mean the entire party due to their own,
incompetence you, know and clear lack of basic common. Sense
it's in a free FALL. CNN A cnn poll okay
released two weeks ago shows That democrats have a twenty
eight percent favorability twenty eight percent taken to. Consideration about

(58:22):
half of those respondents Are. Democrats they're in free fall
and there's just absolutely no doubt about. IT i don't
know how they turn it. Around they need a charismatic,
leader not this communist who's running for mayor Of New York.
Montami it's it is something to.

Speaker 4 (58:41):
See.

Speaker 5 (58:41):
Okay there are a few people in The Democrat party,
though that seem to at least be open to the
idea of waking, up not going wal but they're already,
woke but waking up a little. Bit Pete Buddha judge
evidently finally, Acknowledging, yeah there's some fairness issues with trans
athletes and women's. Sports not much of an, admission now
much of. Admission we already knew, that, Right, Yeah, no.

Speaker 45 (59:04):
His his admission was. Nothing but it just shows you
the flailing of, leaders you, know Former secretary Of transportation is, saying,
well you, know it's. OKAY i guess if you know
they're we we don't let men play women's, sports and
they're they're bumbling. Around Gavin newsom is another who's trying
to stumble over himself to get. Across, WELL i have

(59:27):
some common, sense so you, know it doesn't. Stop they're,
rudderless and you, KNOW i guess we'll see rock. Bottom
maybe not even.

Speaker 1 (59:38):
Maybe that's not where they're.

Speaker 5 (59:40):
At maybe it's even worse for. Them, YEAH i can't
even imagine where rock bottom is at this. Point, chris

of the, day we were you, know kind of looking
for a, bat and you, know we knew that we
could also use an, infielder and so you, know we felt,
like you, know career would be a good. Fit so
we started working through, it and you, know, look this
guy's done a lot, here has been very successful, here

(01:17:34):
and so.

Uh we just felt like the asking prices were too,
high and we know that we have a bunch of
starters coming, back and so that was an area where
we knew we were getting some, help you. Know and
then in terms of the, bats the two bats that we,
got we knew we had to you, know potentially get

(01:18:24):
another bat in the, infield and so we got. That
with the in the utility road with. You uh, uh
you Know ursius and then you know when when we
felt like career became. Available, look that really made the.
Difference and you know we pursued that bat and, so,
uh getting a bat was really.

what i'm, wondering about. You guys i'm wondering if, you
know at this point she's retired after The, super bowl
even though she's a failed, presidential candidate she has all
of these yes men surrounding, her, SAYING dang i wish
you would have run, For governor please run for twenty twenty,

going to be such that, she's like, YOU'RE right i should,
do it or if she realizes that this is the
highest stock she'll ever have that if she gets, out
now there will always be people that will, say no
please have, stayed in and that then that way she
will not be another failed. Presidential candidate so, TO me
i think that decision will be made whether either she

Program yeah we are now in a place along the
southwest border that allow, the administration through, their policies the
Leadership Of secretary nome At the Department Of, homeland security
they've given these agents in the frontline the tools that
they need to successfully control. The border there are now
serious consequences if you cross the. Border ILLEGALLY what i

(01:37:53):
mean by that is you're likely to. Get apprehended you
will most likely be prosecuted in federal court for entering
elegally or in, certain areas entering illegally and entering a military,
designated area and then you'll be removed quickly after your
sentence in the. Federal penitentiary and so morale is. Way
up the number of people who are applying is also,

(01:38:16):
increased twofold and we In The Big beautiful bill, so
called they're huge incentives for people who sign on To
become border, patrol agents Customs and border. Protection officers we're
going to try to hire eight thousand net new PEOPLE,
in cdp three thousand, border patrol five thousand, customs officers

(01:38:38):
AND then ice is on track also in the bill
to bring in ten thousand net new to their. Front
line well.

Speaker 5 (01:38:44):
That's a lot. Of people why? So many does where
does that get? Us to number wise compared to where,
we were, for example during The first, strump administration.

Speaker 51 (01:38:55):
The first border, PATROL specifically i know those numbers the
best around twenty, one thousand Thousand and, trump one and
then we've seen attrition take a lot, of that and
so we're going to GO from i think we'll end
the YEAR at cbp nearly twenty thousand agents and then
the net new. Three thousand what that really means is

(01:39:15):
we've got to cover the attrition that will occur over
the next, four years and so that we're going to
try to enter on duty, five thousand three hundred board
of trilogians to get them through the pipeline and replace
those that will leave. And retire we're also offering incumbent
agents a bonus of ten thousand dollars that comes out of.
The bill and then there's a process underway by which

(01:39:38):
if you Were a Board of trial, agent previously you
can be rehired and reinstated to, full duty or if
you're a, retired agent there will be there could be
a role for you to do some of the work
that that doesn't require a law. Enforcement officer think about
somebody that runs the firing range and a big sector

Houston's Morris, PRESIDENT trump i think realizes that the housing
sector is probably the weakest link in the economy, right
now and maybe that's why he's throwing yet another. Idea
up He's Scolded jerome powell about as much as, he
Can and paul ain't moving on. Interest rates that's the
biggest thing that would help the housing market is getting

(01:48:59):
the interest right down. On mortgages, of course it's not just,
you know it's not all tied to THE current, fed
rate but it has.

Speaker 4 (01:49:06):
An impact.

Speaker 5 (01:49:08):
The other thing that the presidents decided that maybe if
we eliminated the capital gains tax on selling, your home
so you didn't have to worry about being taxed on
the profit you make from selling, your home maybe that
could get things. Going again they talked about It On
The Big money Show On.

Speaker 52 (01:49:27):
FOX business i do believe that eliminating capital gains tax
would make a huge difference in the housing market because
there's so many PEOPLE and i experiences on a day to,
day Basis and jerry covers. This too sellers want, to
sell they want, to downgrade they want, to upgrade but
they don't want to pay this capital gains shaft and
so so many people are holding steady as a result.

(01:49:48):
Of that and, you know nar actually reached out to
me and they did some original research that they wanted
me to share because they KNOW that i cover this topic,
so MUCH which i thought was. So interesting capital gains
tax is no longer just about high. End properties people, think,
that oh this only, you know hurts, the wealthy but.
It doesn't nearly twenty nine million, homeowners today that's thirty,
four percent can face capital gains tax if. They sold

(01:50:11):
that's one third of, the market and by twenty rich or,
one percent, so right so it's a huge part of.

Speaker 1 (01:50:17):
The MARKET and i think that.

Speaker 52 (01:50:18):
If you eliminate capital, gains tax people, would move, you
would you would create more supply in, the market which
is one of. THE problems i do think that interest
rates need to, come down and it's about time, they,
Do RIGHT and i think the magic number would even
be about. SIX percent i do believe that the market
would start to.

Speaker 3 (01:50:33):
Recover and people would start to move if we saw.

Speaker 52 (01:50:36):
That happened but something's got to give with a housing
market because and also one OTHER thing i want to
mention is property taxes. And insurance this is something that
our Governor in florida. Has addressed property taxes are so
incredibly outrageous, right now and people are paying more in
property taxes and insurance.

Speaker 4 (01:50:52):
Than they are.

Speaker 52 (01:50:53):
Their MORTGAGE so i know so many working class families
that are struggling BETWEEN do i send my kids to
private school OR do i pay the bills for, my home,
you know and they're having to downsize and make, those
sacrifices and so something's got.

Speaker 5 (01:51:06):
To, Give, OKAY well i would try to explain capital
gains a little further as it relates. To housing most way,
too complicated but trusted to say, that basically when you sell,
your home you're potentially responsible unless you meet, the exclusions
you are potentially responsible for a capital gains tax on

(01:51:26):
the profit that you made on the sale. That home
you bought, the home if you've been the home for
a long. Long time let's say you bought it for
two hundred thousand dollars and you'd sell it for seven hundred.
Thousand dollars only two hundred and fifty thousand dollars would,
be excluded and the rest you might have to pay
a capital gains. Tax on so it could make. Some
DIFFERENCE although i think, SHE'S right i think. Property insurance
property taxes and insurance are a. Bigger problem seven to

bonnet curriculum we're going to talk to her about why,
they're doing it what they expect to. SEE from it
i know there's a financial incentive involved if. You implement
it it's like sixty. Bucks per student are they doing
it for the money or are they doing it because
they really think it'll make a difference in how? Their

Yeah We've Got the. Blue bony curriculum some school systems.
Are trying it some are using maybe a, part of
it maybe not. All OF it, as i said there's
a financial incentive in order to give. It A try melissa.
Semler joins Us SHE'S a conroe. Isd board member they're
going to Be Using the Blue BONNET in conroe. Isd

(01:56:57):
school system are you going to be using? The?

Speaker 4 (01:56:58):
Entire program melissa.

Speaker 34 (01:57:01):
We Are using the english part of the. Program right
now SO for Our ela students, english language.

Speaker 5 (01:57:08):
Arts all right do you get any money for just
using part of the program or do you have to use?

Speaker 4 (01:57:11):
The whole?

Speaker 34 (01:57:11):
Thing we do we do there is an incentive to's part.
OF the program i know that some of that incentive
is actually used for. The printing costs so it's not
as awesome as it sounds that the printing because printing gets.
Kind of expensive but it definitely helps offset all, of
the costs.

Speaker 5 (01:57:30):
Which, is wonderful okay let's talk about. The, controversial parts
supposedly it's not. CONTROVERSIAL to me i hear people make
arguments all the time for separation of. Church and state,
FIRST of all i don't think they understand what was
meant by the separation of. Church and state it was
only met by the founding fathers that our country would

(01:57:50):
not endorse. A specific religion, in other words we did
have To have A. Church of england Here In, the
united states we have we could all decide what we
wanted our religious. Viewpoint to be there's no problem with
having A mention of god, in the? Schools?

Speaker 4 (01:58:08):
IS there.

Speaker 34 (01:58:10):
Personally i don't think that The mention of god in
the schools is. Problematic at all you can see and
documents written by our founding fathers that They refer to god.
All THE time so i definitely think that there is a,
historical REFERENCE there and i don't think it's important. To note,
that you know for centuries monks were the primary, Scribes

(01:58:31):
for manuscripts so A lot of Western culture and western literature,
has is strongly strongly Influenced, by the church and in
order to interpret some of that literature and some of
the main aspects of, politics and culture it is important
to have An understanding of christianity and the tenants and.

Speaker 6 (01:58:49):
Symbols.

Speaker 5 (01:58:50):
In it well concerning the fact that this was Founded
As a, JUDEO christian society i. Would think so but
how much religion is Actually in? The bluebonic curriculum is?
There at all whole? Bunch, OF it no i.

Speaker 34 (01:59:02):
Wouldn't say there's a. Lot of it there's some where
they're trying to help you have a BETTER understanding of
i guess the ideology behind whatever the piece was, that
was written and It's. Not just christianity they refer to other.
Religions as well christianity has been highlighted a lot, in
the press but they also refer to other religions. Throughout

(01:59:22):
THE curriculum and i know as a, STUDENT growing up
i Actually went to christian, schools growing up and some
of our world religion classes discussed our world history classes discussed,
religion pretty regularly just because in other parts, of the
world religion is influential in their culture and their.

Speaker 4 (01:59:41):
Academics as well.

Speaker 5 (01:59:43):
So how big of a difference do you hope this?
Curriculum will make what is it about this curriculum that
supposedly is going to make it easier for your?

Speaker 4 (01:59:53):
Students to learn.

Speaker 34 (01:59:56):
So to make it easier for the, students TO learn
what i think is so important about this curriculum is.
That it's rigorous so it's. Challenging for students they, have
challenging vocabularies they have challenging pieces. Works to read it
really makes the students kind of dig deeper and read

(02:00:17):
materials that aren't as easy to read as. You WOULD
think so i think it's really important that we raise
the reggor level of rigor in our schools that students
need to read and think a. Little bit more it's
also got a it's a, classically based curriculum so we're
going to look back more classic literature and things of
that nature than some of the newer things that.

Speaker 5 (02:00:38):
HAVE come, up i assume, like anything else you'll be
judging this year by year and taking a look at
the test results and to see how this is impacting
the students and then make further decisions down the road
as far as how you go about your. Curriculum, going, forward.

Speaker 34 (02:00:52):
Yes yes, it's you know it's really important to the
board that we have a strong. Level of, literacy you
know we've got a lot of a lot of students
that are struggling with, literacy right now and we really
want to make sure that. That is addressed and we're
going to be watching. Growth really closely growth is really,
important to us not just, the test scores but how

(02:01:13):
much has this student grown over the school year as compared,
To last year where are they as where are they
compared to where they were at the beginning. Of the
year so we're going to be watching that really closely,
with THIS curriculum and i expect to see really really.

Speaker 5 (02:01:25):
Good numbers, here all right and we'll check back with
you and see how those. Numbers turned, Out, thank you.
Melissa appreciate it. Melissa so, much all right you bet
