Here's what I'm looking at. I'm looking at the forecast.
And first I thought, well, I'd better put my reading
glasses on because I'm must be reading this wrong. And
then I thought to myself, maybe I'm dreaming, Maybe this
isn't for real. Is there really rain in the forecast
this week?
Speaker 21 (11:49):
There really is rain in the forecast this week, and
unfortunately for folks who have plans around Halloween, it may
impact the Halloween festivities.
Speaker 4 (11:59):
It starts Wednesday.
Speaker 21 (12:02):
It's a week front, but it's enough of a front
to kind of give us enough instability for some rain.
So we are dry and we'll continue warm today or tomorrow.
Like we just did all weekend long and temperatures in
the mid upper eighties both days. But there's a fifty
percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Wednesday and an eighty
percent chance of showers some thunder on Thursday.
Speaker 4 (12:25):
Now it's not going to rain all day, but we.
Speaker 21 (12:28):
Will get some rain, and we're still dealing with some
rain on Friday as well. And thank goodness for some

Speaker 2 (12:54):
So Sher's driving around yesterday listening to the rally. How
did they translate on radio without having the video to watch?
Could you kind of really still feel what you's talking?
Speaker 5 (13:03):
You get to hear the speakers without having to listen
to all the people commenting on the speakers, so you
can't hear the speaker. You get to hear it yourself.
So I just was amazed because it was uninterrupted. I mean,
I'm driving you would think I saw on my cell
phone plugged into my car, you know, speakers. So I'm
(13:24):
trying to figure out is this my phone service that
did this for me? Is it Starlink? I mean, what
is it?
Speaker 2 (13:31):
I don't know you would thank you with that.
Speaker 5 (13:33):
I've just never been able to stream. You know, you
lose the stream when you're sitting in your house.
Speaker 2 (13:38):
Yeah, I would think it'd be a little sketchy.
Speaker 5 (13:40):
How in the world was I able to hear it all?
Was that my car one big receiver?
Speaker 4 (13:47):
I mean, wow, did you hear the comedian? I did
not hear the comedian.
Speaker 5 (13:51):
I don't know when the comedians spoke, but I mean
all of this, but you know, I heard everyone else,
you know, and I know they were making these comments
about being bullies. Doctor Phil talked about bullies, and I thought,
what are they trying to address?
Speaker 2 (14:08):
Well, I'm glad you brought that one up. I have
doctor Phil talking about where the bully is and how
Trump eight one that's coming up next. First though, at five, funny,

Speaker 2 (15:53):
How old are you when you are? Generally sixth grade?
Is that? What is that about eleven or twelve?
Speaker 14 (15:59):
No?
Speaker 5 (15:59):
No, no, no, you're well, yeah, I guess that would be
fourth grade as ten.
Speaker 2 (16:04):
That's that's the cutoff for me. I think when you're
I think when you're done with elementary school, it's time
to give up the tricker training. I think you're a
little too old for that at that point.
Speaker 4 (16:13):
Never too old for chocolate.
Speaker 2 (16:15):
Well, never too old for candy. Just don't go begging
for it, go buy yourself.

Speaker 20 (16:41):
Now.
Speaker 4 (16:43):
I live in southeast Houston.
Speaker 2 (16:45):
Your forecast is at the bottom of the hour by
seven forty k t r H five twenty three hour
time here in Houston's morning you So doctor Phil was
there and he did speak, and he talked about bullies
and bullying and what to bully really is. Here is
doctor Phil the Trump rally.
Speaker 23 (17:03):
I'm here to talk to and stand up for the
people who have declared their support for Donald J.
Speaker 19 (17:10):
Trump, or they got found out, or they want to
do it, but they're too intimidated.
Speaker 23 (17:20):
Because you know what happens when somebody in this country says, hey,
i'm gonna vote Republican, I'm going to vote Donald J.
Speaker 19 (17:27):
Trump.
Speaker 23 (17:28):
They get canceled, intimidated, marginalized, excluded, or even fired. Or boycotted,
and you know what that means. In short, that adds
up to being bullied. And now we're talking about something
I know hell of a lot about. Now you're in
(17:53):
my wheelhouse, buddy. I may not be an expert in politics,
but I am an expert about bullying. And bullying is
when you seek to harm somebody, You seek to intimidate, coerce,
cause distress, fear, risk to their well being, and it
(18:13):
can be physical, verbal, relational, or cyberbullying.
Speaker 1 (18:19):
And it's always wrong.
Speaker 23 (18:22):
You said it, my friend, It is always wrong when
you bully somebody.
Speaker 19 (18:28):
And that's what's going on.
Speaker 14 (18:29):
Now.
Speaker 23 (18:29):
Let me tell you what the critics are going to
say when they hear me talking about this. They're going
to say, well, now, wait a minute's scheve on.
Speaker 19 (18:36):
Is it Trump a bully? And let me tell you why.
Speaker 23 (18:40):
The answer to that question is no, because to be
a bully, there has to be an imbalance of power,
and when there's not, it's just called a debate.
Speaker 19 (18:53):
And he's just better at it than anybody else.
Speaker 2 (18:57):
There you go. It sounds like a pretty good ad
explanation to me. By the way, the comedian was the
controversial thing everybody's you'll see all these stories today about
racist jokes and all that kind of.
Speaker 5 (19:08):
Stuff, because you know they this is what the left
is doing. Sure, you know, mainstream media.

with you coming up in the next half hour. You
can judge for yourself. Would you think right now, five
twenty six, it is time to take a look at
your money. Here's Courtney Donaho, Happy Monday.
Speaker 4 (19:32):
Good morning, Jimmy, Happy Monday.
Speaker 24 (19:33):
Well, this morning stocks are looking at a high open
ahead of a busy week from Wall Street. On Friday,
the October jobs report is out. We also hear from
a number of tech giants. Apple, Google, Parent Alphabet, Microsoft, Meta,
and Amazon all report quarterly earnings results this week. On Friday,
the S and P five hundred finished little changed. However,
the Dow dropped two hundred and sixty points. Banks were
(19:54):
dragged down. Banks dragged down the broader market, excuse me,
just by gains and tech shares. McDonald says quarter pounders
will return to the menus at all restaurants this week.
After ruling out beef patties as the source of the E.
Coli outbreak last week. The infections appear to stem from
the slavered onions served on top of the sandwich. Other
fast food chains have also pulled onions from their menus
(20:17):
and childcare costs continue to rise and is a big
string for many family budgets. According to Bankra, daycare for
one infant takes close to fifteen percent for the average
American family's annual budget. New Mexico, Hawaii, and New York
are the least affordable states for infant care. I'm Courtney

Speaker 5 (22:04):
Good morning, everyone is so how five point thirty one
on News radio seven forty ktrh our top story. This
Saraharas County second attempt at a basic income program. It's
moving forward again after a district court judge dismissed the
lawsuit from Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. Now, the Community
Prosperity Program is what they call. It gives five hundred
dollars stipends to nearly two thousand low income residents from
(22:29):
certain zip codes. It's five hundred dollars a month. By
the way, County Judge Lena Hidalgo's first attempt at this
was blocked by the Texas Supreme Court, so this state
is expected to have to appeal. All this once again
won't be answered before the election. Keeping an eye on
our money, ninety percent of voters on both sides told
Blackrock Investments that America has a retirement crisis.
Speaker 25 (22:54):
Almost all the Republicans said yes, ninety two percent, but
also eighty six percent of the Democrats said yes, there's
a retire savings crisis, and that's significant. Everybody feels more
or less the same way. They always feel like you
need a lot of money to retire safely, like maybe
two million bucks.
Speaker 5 (23:09):
Daniel device with USA Today, thirty percent of voters say
they have no retirement savings at all. Our high cost
of living making younger people scale back when and what
kind of home they purchase for the first time.
Speaker 26 (23:23):
What I've kind of called it more is an American
dream instead of the American dream. And unfortunately today many
folks who are just starting their careers and trying to
find a house and what sized house to get in
everything else, have had to downsize those aspirations of how
big a house they could get.
Speaker 4 (23:40):
He kind of spans again.
Speaker 5 (23:41):
He says, over're spending by the federal government, you know,

despite how expensive things have become since he left office.

The reality is Americans are struggling thanks to Biden Harris policies.

Speaker 27 (24:14):
Political commentator Jeffrey Lord says the media is now trying
to hide the fact that Kamala Harris did the exact
opposite of that.
Speaker 28 (24:20):
They zero win on conservatives. Anything that has to do
with them will have a negative spin on it, and
they're racing to shield Kamala Harris from all her problems.

He says, nope, I'll be late, but I'm not going

Speaker 2 (28:29):
Is the Federal government taking your t bird away? Five
point thirty eight is our time here on Houston's Morning News.
Are you still having fun, fun fun, or did fun
fun fun to get cut cut cut from the family budget?
That's what I'm wondering. Story seems to indicate a lot
of people are giving up the fun, which ain't no fun,
says putting fun back into Low and middle income americans
(28:49):
budgets could be years away, with most of their income
barely covering the surgeon costs for bare necessities. Even with
the annine inflation last month cooling to the lowest level
since February twenty twenty one, and wages seeming to rise
a little bit faster than inflation. Finally, low and middle
income Americans are just barely covering their essentials, which includes groceries, shelter, utilities,
(29:12):
and gasoline. That's because when inflation slows, it only means
the prices aren't rising as quickly, not that prices are declining.
Speaker 20 (29:19):
Well.
Speaker 2 (29:19):
Finally, somebody in the media seems to finally get it
dy nicely done all right. Large share of Americans, the
bottom sixty percent, are spending more in essentials than before
the pandemic. The burden is hardest among the lowest income.
It also touches middle income spending patterns of low income
Americans will take years to recover. So it kind of
(29:44):
like I kind of feel like it's maybe how our
parents or grandparents felt right after the Great Depression. You know,
you knew you were coming out of it, but you
couldn't really bring yourself to change your spending patterns because
you'd been in that mindset for a long period of time.
In other words, you're prone to try to save whatever
(30:07):
you had because you didn't know when the next big
upset was coming. You know, you're just kind of you're
stocking the money away and you're just buying necessities, and
you're being very frugal with your money. I think we're
kind of going through the same kind of thing here.
Speaker 4 (30:19):
You know, we came from parents who were that way,
you and I and I didn't realize how much it
was ingrained in me.
Speaker 2 (30:28):
Sure, but we are.
Speaker 4 (30:31):
Certainly I've been this way. I just don't throw things.
Speaker 2 (30:34):
Away right right, I'm not so much that way, but
I will say that, you know, the sticker shock has
finally gotten to me. Where I go, it's not a matter,
for example, you go out to eat and you go
to a nice steakhouse. It's not a matter that I
can't afford to spend thirty two dollars on a steak.
It's that I can't bring myself to spend thirty two
(30:55):
dollars on a steak. There's nothing about that steak worth
thirty two dollars in my mind. Inflation says it's now
cost thirty two dollars. In my mind, No, it's still
twenty bucks. And until it's twenty bucks again, I'm not
buying it. And I think that's kind of part of
the mentality that a lot of folks are going through
right now. You know where you just you see the prices.
(31:16):
It's not whether you can or cannot afford it, if
you can't bring yourself to spend the money on it.
Speaker 4 (31:21):
I splurged over the weekend.
Speaker 14 (31:23):
What did you do?
Speaker 4 (31:24):
I bought bacon?
Speaker 2 (31:26):
Did you really I fried it? Did you enjoy it?
Every last buck? Right, some things are worth splurging on.
I would put bacon towards the top of that list.
All right, die for traffic and weather together. I'm still

why do you live in that? I'll be like, well,

we actually need the rain more than we need the candy.
Speaker 4 (33:10):
At least I'll speak for myself. Oh my goodness, it
is a week front. It is going to bring us
rain in a couple of days worth of rain.
Speaker 21 (33:18):
Not that it's going to wipe out the rain deficit
that we have here in Southeast Texas, but it's a
beginning and that's a good thing. Now today and tomorrow
you can do early trick or treating, maybe because it's
sunny and dry and temperatures are still running quite warm
in the mid to upper eighties for most of us
starting Wednesday, a fifty percent chance of showers and storms.
(33:41):
Right now, it looks like an eighty percent chance of

Speaker 4 (33:46):
That doesn't mean it's going to rain all day.
Speaker 21 (33:47):
That means that most of us will have an opportunity

still a sixty percent chance of more thundershowers. Temperatures do

Speaker 2 (36:27):
Poin fifty two now here in Houston's warning news. A right,
the filibuster. Let's start with us. What in the world
is the filibuster? For those who didn't take any Civics
classes in school and you don't know the answer. John
Malcolm is with us, vice president of the Heritage Foundation,
Let's start with the basic thing, John, What is before
we talk about the Democrats trying to get rid of it?
What's important about it?
Speaker 14 (36:47):
The filibuster allows the minority to stop legislation in the
Senate unless there is at least sixty votes to end
debate and to send that proposed legislation to the floor
of the Senate for an actual vote. It allows, in
other words, the party and the minority at the moment.
It's the Republicans with forty nine senators to say no, no, no,
(37:10):
We're going to keep debating this, and you can't close
the debate until you get sixty votes to shut us up.
Speaker 4 (37:16):
Yeah, and very effective.
Speaker 5 (37:18):
I mean instead of mob ruling, are just one vote
majority or a tie casting, you know, breaking vote by
a vice president, you actually have debate and you have
to win people to your argument.
Speaker 4 (37:31):
Gee, sounds like a decent question. So why do they
want to get rid of it?
Speaker 14 (37:36):
Well, because they don't care about.
Speaker 1 (37:39):
Them, they don't care.
Speaker 4 (37:40):
About our government.
Speaker 14 (37:42):
Well, so the Senate, these are all Senate rules, and
Senate rules gets to make their own rules and they
can change them. There used to be a filibuster for
both legislation, which still exists and for nominations. Harry Reid,
when he was the Senate majority leader, did a rule
change and they quote unquote nuked the legislative philip buster
for all nominees except Supreme Court justices. But then when
(38:05):
the Republicans were in control of the Senate and the
Democrats tried to filibuster Neil Gorsich for the Supreme Court,
they said, oh no, no, well we told you that
if you nuked the philibuster for everything except Supreme Court justices,
that this day would eventually happen, and they knuked the
filibuster for Supreme Court justices and Gorstch was confirmed. The
legislative philibuster still exists. But when the Democrats had control,
(38:28):
I should know. When the Republicans had control during the
Bush administration and for the first few years of the
Trump administration of the House, the Senate, and the White House,
they did not nuke the legislative philibuster, even though Donald
Trump wanted them to. But now when the Democrats controlled
the House, the Senate, and the White House, they wanted
to nuke the filibuster. They had fifty one senators, but
(38:52):
Joe Manchin and Kirsten Cinema said they would not play ball,
that they would not vote in favor of nuking the philibuster,
so there was no point in crying that effort. The
Democrats are now saying, though, that if they take the House,
Paris wins the White House, and if they keep the Senate,
then they will knot the filibuster because Cinema and Mansion
(39:14):
will be out. Now, the odds that they're winning the
Senate are not great, but they are not impossible. So
you've got at the moment forty nine Republican senators. Let's
assume Jim Justice wins in West Virginia, which you will.
Then let's assume that Tim Sheehy beats John Tester in Montana.
So the Republicans now have fifty one senators. But if
(39:35):
all of the other close races go the Democrats way,
and if say Ted Cruz, who is in a tight race,
loses in Texas, or Dead Fisher who's in a tight
race loses to the Independent in Nebraska, then you're at
a fifty to fifty Senate and Vice President Tim Walls
would break the tie. And then they could the legislat
of philibuster if they wanted to.
Speaker 2 (39:56):
Yeah, it's not even a it's not even as much
about the philibuster as a there's about the types of
pieces of legislation they would nuke it.
Speaker 24 (40:03):
Four.
Speaker 2 (40:04):
What would they try to ram through if there's no
filibuster to someth.
Speaker 14 (40:08):
Them anything that would allow them to keep their Democratic
senators in line. They could codify Roe versus Wade. They
could have statehood for Puerto Rico, possibly for the district
of Columbia, they could pass whatever immigration loosening our immigration
laws they wanted. They could do court packing. They could
(40:29):
increase the number of justices on the Supreme Court. They
could change our election laws to say, for instance, that
no state can require a voter ID. They could have
a wealth tax on unrealized income. They could have universal,
taxpayer supported government run healthcare. Whatever has been on Bertie
Sanders's wish lists. If they could keep all of those
(40:50):
Democratic senators together and they could get their members in
the House to vote for it, if Kavala Harris liked it,
sign it into law, they could get it done, so
long as it didn't violate the US explicitly violates the
US Constitution.
Speaker 2 (41:03):
And that's why you need to get everybody you know
who would not support this to get out and vote
against it by voting for Republicans. John Malcolm, thank you,
Vice president at the Heritage Foundation. That is John Malcolm.

Speaker 16 (48:03):
Then search would become innovative again. There have been no
innovations in search for the twenty years that Google has
dominated search.
Speaker 27 (48:09):

Mainstream media doesn't talk about this one about AI. It's
easier now for bad guys to actually steal our homes.
Speaker 18 (48:28):
It's called home title stuff, and it's been around for
a long time. It's debilitating to the victims beaus. Literally
they can have their home stolen from them without their
knowledge that it is even taking place.
Speaker 5 (48:43):
It's scary, as retired Las Vegas Police Lieutenant Randy Suttney says,
scammers finding new ways to turn homeowners into victims. And
the Texans they beat the Colts twenty three to twenty

Speaker 2 (49:20):
All right, there was a comedian at the Trump rally
last night who has gone over in some circles like
a lead bloom for making were called racist jokes. He
certainly was edgy, There's no doubt about that. I think
he was edgy at least on purpose, because I think
he was there. Part of his thing is he's there
to support the Second Amendment and his right to say jokes,
(49:41):
and you're right to be offended. First amount, I'm sorry,
but I say a second did mean that your First
Amendment right for free speech and also your right to
be offended. So let's see how offensive was he? Should
we take a listen. Let's take a listen.
Speaker 31 (49:57):
There's a lot going on. Like I don't know if
you guys know this, but there's literally a floating island
of garbage in the middle of the ocean right now.
Speaker 19 (50:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 31 (50:05):
I think it's called Puerto Rico. Okay, all right, Okay,
we're getting there now again.
Speaker 2 (50:13):
Normally I don't follow the national anthem.
Speaker 31 (50:15):
Everybody, ah, listen, exactly, a perfect comedy setup.
Speaker 2 (50:21):
There's some people here, all right, very good.
Speaker 20 (50:24):
I like it.
Speaker 31 (50:25):
I have other policies that I think it should be
implemented as well. Like me personally, I think football should
be all year round. Yeah, so many great athletes. I
don't know about you guys, but I think that Travis
Kelcey might be the next OJ Simpson. Feels good in here.
(50:51):
The other side's got a lot of crazy endorsements. Swift
eminem Leo DiCaprio, Beyonce. Every day the Democratic Party looks
more and more like a P Diddy party. Oh oh, okay, okay,
that's what you guys want, all right. Heck yeah, this
(51:13):
cool black guy with a thing on his head.
Speaker 2 (51:15):
What the hell is that a lamb shade? Look at
this guy?
Speaker 31 (51:18):
Oh my goodness, Wow, I'm just kidding. That's one of
my buddies. He had a Halloween party last night. We
had funly carved watermelons together.
Speaker 2 (51:30):
It was awesome. You guys are this is a grony
little morning crowd. Huh yeah, Oh, there's a few groaners
in there for sure. Yeah, a little edgie.
Speaker 4 (51:41):
What did he right after the national anthem? So he
was like the opening act?
Speaker 2 (51:45):
I guess, well that's where you'd put a comedian. Probably
is your opening act. But you know, but how time
was fairly early, but time to start.
Speaker 18 (51:55):
And.
Speaker 4 (51:56):
I started listening it for I did not hear him.
Speaker 2 (52:00):
Yeah, I'm not sure what time. He made it sound like,
get started in the morning. I don't think it was
in the morning. I think it was in the afternoon.
Speaker 4 (52:05):
I mean I heard at least Stephonic For heaven's sakes,
I heard JD. Van, I heard them all. I mean,
Tucker Carlson was hilarious.
Speaker 19 (52:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (52:12):
I think it's the it's the Puerto Rican joke that
got get the racist kind of going about that.
Speaker 5 (52:17):
Yeah, I've got emails about it. But you know the
woman wearing the Maga hat behind home plate at the
Dodgers game, Uh huh, oh my gosh, social media just
went nuts.
Speaker 2 (52:27):
Oh I'm sure.
Speaker 5 (52:27):
How could the Dodgers let that person into the game.
She had a ticket in California. Oh, she had a ticket.
Speaker 4 (52:36):
How dare she?
Speaker 2 (52:37):
All you have to do is have a ticket. It's
time for traffick and weather together. We're checking out the
drive again. Here's sky Mine.
Speaker 3 (52:43):
All right, let's check North Freeway. It's all happening on
the north side this morning. I forty five North. I've
got that show.
Speaker 2 (52:48):
What'd you do with my shot?
Speaker 18 (52:49):
Here?
Speaker 3 (52:49):
That's as southbound at North Maane. You know, we've got
our own little text dot wall of death here. This
is going to take up two lanes. That's wreck southbound.
That's two right lanes. And we're backed up from the
north loops six ten. Now we're already loopy at the
squeeze on six ' ten going westbound, where it squeezes
down to two lanes at forty five. That's an overturned
eighteen wheeler. I made sure that everybody else in the
(53:12):
media knows that's what's going on. Plus has Matti's lost
his fuel. So we're backed up now from the hardy
toll Road. Uber Mike, what you got, dude?
Speaker 9 (53:19):
Hey, what's us? Guy?
Speaker 20 (53:20):

do have some patchy fog this morning, Derek.
Speaker 18 (54:06):
Yes, we do.
Speaker 21 (54:07):
I'm seeing some reduced visibility around Conroe, where else Angleton,
like Jackson area in particular, even at Bush inter Continental
there reporting some shallow fog.
Speaker 4 (54:20):
So there's some fog out there this morning.
Speaker 21 (54:22):
There'll be a little bit of fog in spots tomorrow
morning as well, and hopefully once we get some rain
in here, that'll help to improve the visibilities in the morning.
Though it looks like more clouds on the way. So
today and tomorrow very much like what we had over
the weekend. Plenty of sunshine, it's going to be warm,
flirting with some record warmth temperatures in the mid to
(54:45):
upper eighties both days. Then that weekfront starts to make
its way closer to southeast Texas on Wednesday, so we
have a fifty percent chant, so showers and storms Wednesday.
The best chance of rain is Thursday and eighty percent
chance you'll get wet.
Speaker 4 (55:00):
It's not going to be an all day kind of rain.
Speaker 21 (55:02):
It's more of a most of us will have a
little bit of rain, and right now it looks like
light rain and a sixty percent chance of more showers
than storms on Friday.
Speaker 1 (55:11):
This is good news.
Speaker 21 (55:12):
Even though it's right around Halloween. We've not had a

Here on Houston's Morning News, we talk a lot about
the American dream. What the American dream is? Is the
American dream still alive? This is still achievable. We'll talk
to doctor Van Skin, he's an economist that Gain Economic
Consulting about a Washington Post op ed that says, young Americans,
if you're a young American, you have to shrink your
American dream. What do you mean, shrink it? Shrink it
(55:57):
by how much more?
Speaker 4 (55:59):
Just expect so much in your dream?
Speaker 2 (56:01):
Oh well, don't expect that.
Speaker 4 (56:02):
Downsize your dreams.
Speaker 2 (56:03):
Don't expect that money. Don't expect that house. Huh Okay,
we'll talk to him about that coming up next, and
maybe a little house or maybe a little rainy house, honey, Yeah,
that's exactly a two hundred and fifty square foot house.
More in that story coming up next. First, traffic and
weather together, we're checking out the drive. What's again your

Speaker 2 (57:54):
Six twenty three hour time here in Houston's morning news,
doctor vants again. The economists that Gain Economic Consulting joins
us about this. Washington Post op ed that we have
to shrink our American dream. Just the young people, though,
vance the young people have to shrink their dream. What
is their dream going to be if they have to
shrink it?
Speaker 19 (58:12):
That's a great question.
Speaker 26 (58:13):
It's great to be with you this morning.
Speaker 2 (58:15):
I don't really know.
Speaker 26 (58:16):
I mean, you know, housing prices continue to go through
the roof. I mean we've seen them stabilize some in Texas,
but then you have interest rates that also make you
really costly to get a home, and then inflation, food prices,
gas prices, other things around you are going up as well,
makes it very difficult to buy that first time home home.
And so that's influencing the American dream. We're in American
(58:37):
dream as we each have our own, but it certainly
housing may not be a big part of that.
Speaker 2 (58:41):
For first time home buyers these days.
Speaker 4 (58:43):
You know, it's more than that though.
Speaker 5 (58:45):
I mean, you can't afford the vacation, you can't afford
the car, you can't afford I mean, what is the
American dream?
Speaker 4 (58:51):
I mean has that changed?
Speaker 18 (58:54):
Well?
Speaker 26 (58:55):
You know, in my view, we each have our own
American dream. I don't know if there's the American dream.
I like to talk about it as being an American dream.
Usually that's been a part of having a house, maybe
going on some trips, living the life that you can
and that's affordable, and a lot of those things seem
out of reach for a lot of people now. I
think that's what's part of this article in the Washington
Post of trying to shrink your American dream kind of
(59:17):
like shrink flation, I guess is that you get less
from what you used to be able to pay for.
Because you know, average wages are down two point three
point four percent adjusted for infacient inflation since January of
twenty twenty one. All these things that are contributing to
this angst that people feel across the country.
Speaker 2 (59:35):
You know, I forget where we heard this. This has
been quite a while since I've heard the story. But somebody,
somebody on the left who said that you know, you're
not gonna own in the future. You're not gonna own
a house, You're not going to own a car, You're
not going to listen to all the things that we
currently pay for that we own that we are no
longer going to own. And you'll like it. It's the
you'll like it part I'm having a hard time with.
Speaker 26 (59:59):
Yeah, that's a great point, Jimmy.
Speaker 32 (01:00:00):
I mean, when you think about.
Speaker 26 (01:00:03):
You're being forced to do something rather than you making
it on your own accord and buying a home or
something else. I mean, this goes back to I remember
when President Obama said that utility prices were necessarily skyrocket
your electricity prices and everything else will because of their
big government policy.
Speaker 2 (01:00:21):
And now we're actually feeling that even.
Speaker 26 (01:00:23):
More these days of these bad economic policies that have
been happening over the last four years, and unfortunately we
have an election coming up where people can make a
decision about how they want their future to be.
Speaker 1 (01:00:34):
Well.
Speaker 5 (01:00:35):
American dream is not just a dollar figure either though,
you know, it's liberty, it's the freedom.
Speaker 4 (01:00:40):
I mean, the car allows you to go where you
want to go.
Speaker 5 (01:00:43):
The house allows you to live inside your home without
people looking over your shoulder.
Speaker 4 (01:00:48):
I mean, all these things.
Speaker 5 (01:00:49):
Yeah, there's a money a price tag to them, but
a lot of things are just self realization, being able
to have a career.
Speaker 4 (01:00:55):
That you love.
Speaker 2 (01:00:58):
That's exactly right.
Speaker 32 (01:01:01):
Goes back to this idea of who decides to that
point that Jimmy just made as well, it should be
you the individual and deciding about what your future is
going to be. And too often that is not happening
these days because it seems like somebody else is always
deciding for you, whether it be the government or others around.
And people want liberty, people want freedom and prosperity, and
(01:01:23):
that happens by giving them the ability to decide what
their future is going to be and we need more
of that across the country.
Speaker 19 (01:01:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:01:30):
I think if we lose our American and dream, we
lose our freedom. And that's the bottom line there, Doctor Ginn,
Thanks as always, Doctor Van Skin economist again, Economic Consulting,
six twenty seven. It is time to take a look
at your money. Here's Corti Donahoe.
Speaker 4 (01:01:42):

of this crisis, it's the economy.
Speaker 25 (01:05:42):
There is a cumulative inflation effect over the last few years.

a quarter of a point. The average mortgage now six
point eight two percent. So is that still part of
the American dream? Becoming a home buyer for the first time?
Is it achievable?
Speaker 17 (01:06:20):
Although buying that first house is still difficult today, especially
for the younger generation.
Speaker 26 (01:06:25):
This especially hit those who are early on in their
careers really hard, and unfortunately this may create a situation
where they've got to downsize those dreams.

Well, I'll let the reg this is happening in Wisconsin
and they are coming from really suspicious addresses.
Speaker 2 (01:10:16):
There you go.
Speaker 4 (01:10:17):
It's tens of thousands.
Speaker 2 (01:10:18):
Here is the report. The good news is is they're
evidently onto this. Here is the report fromgal Television and
Lancaster PA.
Speaker 35 (01:10:27):
That press conference just wrapped up. It involved the Lancaster
County District Attorney and detectives investigating this. Basically, they tell
us it involved about twenty five hundred voter registration applications
that had been dropped off here at the Administration building
on two occasions last week, basically at the deadline to
drop them off at the end of the day, and
(01:10:48):
they noticed some irregularities with these voter registration applications. The
DA says it stems from a canvassing operation last summer
that's set up at parking lots as well as shopping
centers around the counting.
Speaker 36 (01:11:03):
The confirmed indicators of fraud that detectives came across were
inaccuracies with the addresses listed on the applications, fake and
false personal identification information, as well as false names. Also
applications that contain names that did not match the provided
(01:11:25):
social security information.
Speaker 35 (01:11:27):
The district attorney says they haven't gone through all twenty
five hundred of those suspected applications, but she says sixty
percent were found by detectives to be fraudulent, others verified
to be all right, others they still have yet to
go through. They also say they've contacted two other counties
about this same canvassing operation question, and that they're doing
(01:11:48):
investigations as well. They would not identify the operation or
whether it was connected to one party or another.
Speaker 2 (01:11:53):
Uh huh. They would not identify the guilty parties or
what party they may be affiliated with. About sixty percent
of them fraudulent. And I'm sure this is happening all
across the country, especially in battleground states. Six forty Time
for traffic and weather together. Check out the drive once again.
Sky Mike's here. Huh, we're checking youre Katie Freeway.
Speaker 3 (01:12:15):
Now, I don't see an eighteen wheeler full of mysterious envelopes,
but I do see backups off Grand park Way coming
down the ramp, or if you're trying to get up
from Morton Ranch Road to making that ramp that goes inbound,
you're awfully scooted up here again.
Speaker 2 (01:12:27):
More breaks in Highway six.
Speaker 3 (01:12:29):
Inside the loop not bad, and we're just looking at
an extra seven to eight minutes on the inbound North
Freeway at North Maine southbound it's two right lanes blocked
an accident. It's been there for a while now. This
is starting to make me nervous. We're packed from cross timbers.
So if the East Texas your route, do that. We
had a wreck reported at nineteen sixty thanks to the
tip line, it looks like we've cleared that. We're still
(01:12:50):

Speaker 21 (01:13:31):
Yeah, lots of sunshine and lots of warm weather. Not
a big change from what we've had over the weekend.
The thing that you may notice and will change very
slowly is the humidity. We're seeing it increase in the humidity,
and that's going to help set the stage for a
little bit of rain midweek when a front heads our way.
So no rain today and tomorrow, Temperatures mid to upper eighties. Wednesday,

and you know that's when usually the kids are heading
out late afternoon, early evening.
Speaker 4 (01:14:30):
There still is that possibility of some rain.
Speaker 21 (01:14:33):

a break, maybe by Wednesday. But yeah, that possibility of
rain at any point Thursday.

at skies that will become mostly Sunday. It'd be a
little bit breezy with the high temperature right about eighty seven.
Tomorrow party clouding in breeze eighty seven, then Wednesday thunderstorms,
chance of those with the high temperature of eighty five.
Best chance of more widespread showers and storms is going

Speaker 2 (01:35:23):
Well, evidently the elephants are driving or walking to the
polls and they're showing up in big numbers, at least
that's the early reports. Abraham George joins us Texas GOP chair.
Welcome to the show, sir. Is that what you're also hearing?
How's the Republican turnout looking at Texas? That Texas is
looking good.
Speaker 20 (01:35:41):
I mean even in Harris County we're looking at fifty
seven percent Republicans showing up, which is amazing. We've did
a lot of work in that county and it looks
like it's it's paying off.
Speaker 2 (01:35:52):
Yeah, it's really good.
Speaker 5 (01:35:53):
What about all those independents, I mean, do we we
don't really have a system where you have to be
registered yet right.
Speaker 4 (01:36:00):
Here in the state of Texas, one party or the other.
Speaker 20 (01:36:03):
No, we don't. Then we look at it by who
are showed up to the Republican primary versus Democrat primary.
That's the only way for us to track. And also
they exit polls and we're doing We're doing some exit
polling in different areas of Texas, so trying to see
and overall we are definitely leading comparing to Democrats and
(01:36:24):
even the independence You know, these days there are very
little number of group of people who are called themselves
independence unfortunately, but it's either Democrats or Republicans, so which
makes it easy for us these days.
Speaker 2 (01:36:37):
In the past, normally you'd have Democrats showing up in
greater numbers for early voting and then Republicans showing up
in greater numbers for same day voting. I guess the
question would be, is are the Republicans who would normally
vote on election day are they just showing up early?
And what kind of a turnout are you expecting an
election day Republican versus Democrat.
Speaker 20 (01:36:56):
Election day is always on the side of Republicans, and
we're thinking that's going to happen again. These are the
hard urts, which is, you know, who are people who
showed up and they probably working the polls or working
the as volunteers and talking to their neighbors, so they're
going to show up on election day. But I think
we are also seeing like twenty two percent of the
(01:37:17):
people who showed up this time haven't voted in like
last four cycles. So these are the people who are
hit with the gas prices and all the other problems
we see in our country. They're decided they're going to
show up and vote this time, and a lot of
churches are helping with that. A lot of groups or
different groups are helping with that.
Speaker 5 (01:37:38):
It's being reported that more women are voting than men nationally,
ten percent more women. And I thought, well, does that
presuppose that these women are all out there voting Democrat.
Speaker 4 (01:37:49):
I don't think so.
Speaker 20 (01:37:51):
I don't think so either. I think more women who
are voting these days are people who are between thirty
eight to fifty five, which is you can look at
it and say, all right, these are the people who
will have a daughter in sports or something like that,
and they don't want and you know, boys going into
their locker room. So those there are some very heavy
(01:38:13):
issues on the ballot indirectly, and and I think the
you know, even Ted Cruz ads shows Alin aldright supporting
boys going into the locker room, and that makes a
lot of people to get out and cast a ballot saying,
you know, I can't have that in my in my
my kids school or sports team or whatever. So that's
(01:38:33):
that's it's actually a good thing for Republican this time around.
Speaker 2 (01:38:36):
Is there your exit polling, Abraham show it all how
far down the ballot people are voting. In other words,
obviously they're going to vote for precedent, they're gonna vote
for the US Senate, but sometimes they don't really know
much about judges or some of the other positions. They
may not vote for some of the more local positions
like school board or or or or judges, those types
of things. Any any feedback on how far the ballot
(01:38:59):
down the ballot people are v.
Speaker 20 (01:39:01):
It is a concern most people are showing up, and
especially the newer people who were who didn't cast the
ballot for the last three four cycles, they're they're sticking
with the President and uh TE crews and maybe a
couple of other races down the ballot. That's about it.
It's it's very concerning because we do need to get
people out there. People need to be able to cast
(01:39:22):
their ballot all the way down to the ballot. That
that's a messaging we have to push.
Speaker 5 (01:39:27):
As far as problems at polling locations, we heard a
lot about North Texas.
Speaker 4 (01:39:32):
Has that worked out?
Speaker 28 (01:39:33):
Now?
Speaker 4 (01:39:33):
Are they still having issues in North Texas?
Speaker 20 (01:39:36):
We still have some issues. Most of it has worked out.
Some of it was now real. A lot of it
was real, and Attorney General can Paxson's office, Governor Abbot's office,
you know, we are and we're working together with the
Secondaryer of State to make changes and you know they're
sending out advisories to collection administrators throughout the state. So
(01:39:59):
a lot of the worked out. I mean some of
them were like minor issues that wouldn't have changed any outcome.
But there were some issues like if you cast a
ballot for Trump, it will show up as Kamalam and
it prints out things like that, So we couldn't really
prove all of those, but we did send out advisories
for people to actually read the ballot before they put
(01:40:22):
that into the reader, make sure that whatever they chose
is what's printed on the ballot.
Speaker 14 (01:40:28):
Things like that.
Speaker 20 (01:40:28):
So those were some of the issues, but most of
it is actually fixed.
Speaker 2 (01:40:33):
Okay, good to hear, all right, sir, thank you appreciate it.
Speaker 36 (01:40:36):
That.

big fast food giant and its values.
Speaker 4 (01:56:55):
I think yes, Yeah.

Speaker 11 (01:57:04):
I will probably put my record against him.
Speaker 1 (01:57:07):
She's absolutely terrible.
Speaker 9 (01:57:08):
Your decision twenty twenty four. Headquarters is Youth Radio seven KTRH.
Speaker 2 (01:57:14):
All right, So if Kamala Harris loses, there will be
plenty of fingerpointing of what went wrong and why it
went wrong. Is it Is it Kamala's fault herself? Is
it Biden's fault for waiting too long to get out
of the race. That's what they're That's what That's what
they're trying to claim right now. Well, he waited, he
waited too long to get out. We haven't had time.
Speaker 5 (01:57:35):
And his wife were saying to Day and his wife
Jill two days before he suddenly got out, that he wasn't.
Speaker 2 (01:57:41):
I think the mistake is the opposite. I think he didn't.
He got out too soon because the longer that she's
been put out there in order to have to try
to explain any policy positions, the worst it's become for
that they would have been better off waiting until the last.
Speaker 4 (01:57:56):
How wait should how quaint that you should actually know
who you're voting for?
Speaker 2 (01:58:01):
It's unusual these days. Huh how unusual can it possibly be? Anyway,
here's Greg Gutfield's take on who's to blame. First of all,
uncommitted voters need to be committed.
Speaker 19 (01:58:13):
How can you not know?
Speaker 39 (01:58:14):
I mean that it doesn't you're not sure whether you
should get a kiss on the cheek or a slap
in the face.
Speaker 2 (01:58:20):
No offense, Doug mpoff.
Speaker 39 (01:58:22):
But Democrats should freak out because if they lose, it is,
according to them, the end of the world. I mean
it's over. I mean Trump's retyrant Taylor, you name it.
Speaker 2 (01:58:33):
We'll talk about it. If they're lucky, their early prediction that.
Speaker 39 (01:58:36):
The earth was going to end in the late twenties
will maybe come.
Speaker 2 (01:58:40):
Earlier for that. Yeah, you're hoping.
Speaker 14 (01:58:42):
See.
Speaker 39 (01:58:42):
And I want to piggyback on what you said about
she wasn't the nominee long enough? Well, whose fault is
that you all knew that Joe Biden's brain was French
toast and you hit it from America. You treated his
sinility like Bigfoot. You know, the sightings, hoaxes and the
video evidence or deep fakes. You could have had the
(01:59:04):
twenty fifth Amendment. You should have had the twenty fifth Amendment,
you know, and then maybe you might have had a
good candidate, but instead you're stuck with this pretender in
a pants suit, and you know it's your fault. And
you're right, three and a half years it's more than
enough time to learn. But she wasn't learning, man, she
chose wine over work, as with a celeb power. This
(01:59:25):
is after, you know, the Beetlejuice star Michael Keaton calls
Trump supporters naive and easily persuadable. Well, what's more easily
persuadable than a voter whose decisions are influenced.
Speaker 2 (01:59:37):
By pop culture?
Speaker 39 (01:59:39):
You know, that's actually more insulting to your voter that
you think trotting out Beyonce will get them to put
a ring on it. You know, maybe if the Democrats
think your vote can be swayed by a celebrity, they
don't think of you much at all.
Speaker 2 (01:59:55):
No, they don't. By the way, speaking of Beyonce, weren't
you telling me the Beyonce that was a pa appearance
by Beyonce.
Speaker 5 (02:00:01):
That's what I'm reading online. I don't know, you know,
I'm not privy to that, but the rumor is or
it's being out there again Internet ten million. Whoa for
four minutes?
Speaker 4 (02:00:15):
Was it ten million? It was several million dollars.
Speaker 5 (02:00:18):
Either four million for ten minutes or ten million for
four minutes. Yeah, I can't remember what the whatever. I
read it so fast.
Speaker 2 (02:00:24):
It's big money just for coming out in appearing. Yeah, yeah,
that's pretty amazing. When't you think that.
Speaker 4 (02:00:29):
I don't know how much she gets per concert.
Speaker 2 (02:00:32):
Yeah, well this isn't a concert, though. If you really
believe in the candidate, why wouldn't you do it for free? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (02:00:38):
Well yeah, if you're really supportive.
Speaker 2 (02:00:39):
I guess everybody has to.
Speaker 5 (02:00:40):
Came out of support of Hillary Clinton back in the day.
That tells me maybe if Trumpet offered enough money, she'd
come out for you.
Speaker 4 (02:00:47):
Well, Willy was there, Willy did perform.
Speaker 5 (02:00:49):
Yeah, he probably did it for free, or I doubt it,
or maybe he did it. You know, a little trade
for you got to pay the band. You might have
set up the music, the sound.
Speaker 2 (02:01:00):
Little trade for Ganja. Maybe if people people.
Speaker 5 (02:01:02):
Thought they're gonna go see a Beyonce concert, they didn't
get that. What thirty thousand people showed up?
Speaker 2 (02:01:08):
Something like that. Listen, we gotta run, you all have
a great day. We'll see tomorrow morning, bright nearly five.
I'll see you this afternoon four on the nine fifty
