Speaker 4 (00:46):
I'm just testing the signal and I'll tell you why.
I'll tell you why because at the moment we're looking
pretty good.

Speaker 3 (00:52):
Freeways are rocking along.

Speaker 4 (00:54):
But those of you that played the home game with me, dude,
you have got to look at the shot on the
Transtar system camera five zero three. It's beautiful shot of
the canyon. Fifty nine or sixty nine the merge with
two eighty eight. No one really knows how many lanes
there are, but this is a merged spot and it's
a beautiful shot of downtown.

Speaker 3 (01:12):
For now. We're moving at the speed you should be moving.

Speaker 4 (01:15):
The southbound site even the east text elevated's moving fine.
And I took the little field trip downtown and I'll

I'll have a real radar force and I'm in the

Speaker 3 (01:27):
From r KTRH top tax Defenders, twenty four hour weather centers.
Lots of sunshine today with the high temperature right about seventy.
Harry Smith will join us in about nine minutes with
an update of the forecast. We'll look for the next
few days warming trend, one cold date and a warming
trend again. That pretty much sums it up right down
forty three at your official severe weathers station, News Radio
seven forty k TRH. It is time now for the news.

(01:52):
Here's Cliff Saunders.

Speaker 5 (01:53):
Good morning everyone, five o two on k t RHR
top story.

Speaker 3 (01:57):
It received for very good reason.

Speaker 6 (01:59):
President Trump.

Speaker 5 (02:00):
When the oil tanker taken by American forces off the
coast of Venezuela. Data on board the ship shows the
tanker made multiple trips between Iran and Venezuela. Homeland Security
advisor Steven Miller telling Fox that oil sales from American
enemies are a national security threats, so these regimes.

Speaker 7 (02:19):
Use these ghost sleeps, these dark fleets to evade sanctions
and to fund and finance and export terrorism, violence, and death.

Speaker 5 (02:30):
Oil futures are down this morning by more than one
point four percent to fifty seven dollars and sixty two
cents a barrel.

Speaker 6 (02:37):
As tensions rise with Venezuela.

Speaker 5 (02:39):
Opposition leader Maria Corina Machado appeared in public for the
first time in eleven months in Norway, where her daughter
accepted the Nobel Peace Prize on her behalf. Another American enemy,
of course, is China, and now that country is tried
to a smuggling ring connected to a Houston businessman busted
for sending chips made by Nvidia overseas.

Speaker 8 (03:03):
The chips are used for advanced AI, and China is
barred from purchasing them.

Speaker 9 (03:07):
China has been trying to get his hands on advanced
AI chips from the United States because their chips are
not nearly as good as ours.

Speaker 8 (03:15):
China expert and author Gordon Chang added that this isn't
the first time Houston was caught up in Chinese espionage.

Speaker 9 (03:21):
In the first Trump administration, Secretary of State Pompeo closed
China's consulate in Houston. He specifically mentioned espionage activities.

Speaker 8 (03:29):
He warned that these rings are operated around the world,
so we need to be careful who gets a hold
of our AI chips. Ethan Buchanan News Radio seven forty KTRH.

Speaker 5 (03:37):
Five three concuss votes on opposing healthcare funding bills today
sent a majority. Leader John Thune says the Republican bill
discontinues one type of subsidy, but it leaves the enhanced
subsidies alone.

Speaker 10 (03:49):
The Biden COVID bonuses. What they do is they take
the income limit off, so there's no people making five
six hundred grand a year can actually now get subsidies
from the federal government. There are zero dollars premiums, so
a lot of people in this country don't even know
they're covered because the insurance companies are incentivized to auto
enroll them.

Speaker 5 (04:06):
Democrats are demanding a three year extension of the Obamacare
tax credits. Subsidies expire at the end of the month
if it seems like the president's efforts to reform the
federal government are being thwarted from the inside.

Speaker 11 (04:20):
You might be right, You could have the best intentions
in the world, but if you don't have a loyal crew,
a loyal group of people that share your vision, then
they can undermine you. And that's exactly what's occurring. They're
undermining them.

Speaker 5 (04:34):
Whistleblower doctor Timothy shindelar and the Lara Logan podcast. He
says that the deep state, so called rearguard, has gone
out of its way to cover for the deep state
and meetcap reform efforts, but they couldn't stop Trump from
shutting the border down and now DHS says more than
two and a half million illegal aliens have left the
US over the last year. This includes more than six

(04:55):
hundred five thousand deportations. The US Supreme Court will decide
if birthright citizenship will continue on later this term. In
one political analyst says it's a win even if somehow
Trump loses, and.

Speaker 12 (05:10):
That would be Fox News columnist Liz Peak.

Speaker 13 (05:14):
I think this case being held by the court, if
the Trump white House is smart, it will take advantage
of that and say let's do other things. Let's create
a legal immigration system that most Americans would agree with.

Speaker 12 (05:25):
She says it would be a mega win on immigration.

Speaker 13 (05:29):
Every great president has a signature issue. President Trump has
the opportunity to do that because a lot of what
he's talked about is very popular.

Speaker 12 (05:38):
The case will be heard in the spring. Jeff Biggs
News Radio seven forty k T.

Speaker 3 (05:43):
Eight five five.

Speaker 5 (05:44):
The Federal Reserve cutting interest rates by another quarter percent,
but fetcher Jerome Pal took a shot at President Trump
on inflation and affordability.

Speaker 14 (05:54):
These readings are higher than earlier in the year as
inflation for goods has picked up, reflecting the effects tariffs.

Speaker 6 (06:00):
Trump was hoping for a bigger cut.

Speaker 5 (06:02):
Futures are down this morning after the Dow gained almost
five hundred points yesterday despite Pal's gloom and doom retail
As You're optimistic. Jeff Berget with the Federation of Independent
Business in Texas points to a new set of numbers.

Speaker 15 (06:15):
You add businesses to evaluate their overall health eleven percent
at excellent fifty three percent.

Speaker 16 (06:21):
That good.

Speaker 5 (06:22):
About one in three small business owners say they are
raising costs to keep up with labor expenses. BIBO six
The Rockets host the Clippers tonight pregames at six on
Sports Talk seven ninety and Jimmy alluded to it starting
at six o'clock and for the third straight year we
had KTRH are taking part in the annual Saint Jude
Radiothon to help cure kids with cancer.

Speaker 17 (06:44):
As you know, no family ever receives a bill from
Saint Jude for treatment, travel, housing, or food so they
can focus on helping their child live. So it's important
for us to have those necessary funds in order for
us to care for these children.

Speaker 5 (06:57):
You can become a partner in hope by pledging just
nineteen dollars a month to help these kids. The number
to call starting at six is eight hundred five eight
eight fourteen thirty three eight hundred five eight eight fourteen
thirty three. You can also donate online. We've got the
link up at KTRH dot com, on our Facebook page
and on x as well. I'm Cloff Saunders on Houston's news,
weather and traffic station, News Radio seven forty KTRH.

Speaker 2 (07:21):
Stay in touch on your drive in with Jimmy Barrett
and the Houston Morning News team.

Speaker 3 (07:28):
I just thought this was a prop because this story
is about grocery stores. It is It is the Holidays.
That's only the song I can think of that has
grocery stores and holidays in it. And New Year's Eve
five O way, good morning, Welcome to our show. This morning,
I saw this story. It made me think of something,
and it makes me wonder whether or not we are

(07:48):
potentially looking at a bailout of some of our nation's
bigger grocery chains. Kroger, Yes, today Kroger reporting a one
point three two billion dollar quarterly loss. Now, for all
the people out there who think that big grocery is

(08:12):
making big money from inflation, how do you lose one
point three to two billion dollars if you are overcharging
people for groceries for the things you're selling. Nation's largest
traditional supermarket chain has been around for one hundred and
forty two years now, losing customers to Walmart, Aldi and

(08:33):
Costco will burning cash on failed tech bets. Okay, that's
what the problem is. Kroger has tried new technology to
try to streamline the process. It hasn't worked so well.
Neil Saunders, Managing director of Global Data, warning that Kroger
should be producing punch your numbers. These numbers show the
chain is losing shoppers and the bleeding needs to stop. Yes,

(08:54):
you get the crisis is growing deeper. They are closing stores,
They're laying off employees, spend two point six billion dollars
on an automated warehouse that has collapsed, a nine month
leadership vacuum, so they don't have people at the top
to be doing the right things in a two point

(09:14):
six billion dollar lawsuit from a block merger and forty
five hundred plus jobs at risk. So here's the thing.
Would the government step in? I just remember, you know,
being originally from Detroit, I remember how the government said
that Chrysler was too big to fail, or General Motors
is too big to fail? Is Croker too big to fail?

(09:35):
Are there too many Kroker supermarkets around the country all
throughout the country that if they were to fail and
to go bankrupt, that we would have so fewer grocery
store choices that the government would feel compelled to step in.
I wonder about that. I mean, we have CHIV, I
would prefer chib anyway, but without competition, prices go even higher.

(10:00):
So that would be interesting because we're all very very
warry of food prices right now. Five ten time for
traffic and weather together.

Speaker 4 (10:07):
Interesting because HIV is an organic Texas and I'm not mistaken.

Speaker 3 (10:11):
They're still family owned.

Speaker 4 (10:13):
And I wonder if they have that same situation for Texas,
would Texas want to bail out if hib ever had trouble, you.

Speaker 3 (10:19):
Know, would we want to bail them out? As a state?
Would that be going? Imagine if if there were no
carger or HV Oh good, well, when the world would
we do? Then? Man?

Speaker 4 (10:28):
Dollar Store? Time let's hit you know what, I'm going
to go back to the canyon tear.

Speaker 3 (10:32):
You're on with me? Now? Check out the shot here.

Speaker 4 (10:34):
It's in the Houston Transtar system five zero three.

Speaker 6 (10:36):
Look at that, isn't that pretty?

Speaker 4 (10:38):
That's the Merge with two eighty eight and I sixty
nine and so far, no trouble in the canyon you're
going up. This shot is looking northbound going up to
the ballpark, and we're looking good the Merge. No problems here,
nothing special coming down from the ballpark and we're moving
just about posting speeds enough. I'm stretched back further to
the Southwest Freeway Brass River twenty two minutes.

Speaker 3 (11:00):
It's up into downtown. We're looking good. Here.

Speaker 4 (11:02):
I took a little field trip through downtown this morning,
and I just wanted to get a close up feel
of that Katie Freeway smash and what it is. Forty
five just as advertised, two little puny lanes and the
text dot wall of death. That's the Katie Freeway when
you're going past downtown and you're trying to get out
past forty five.

Speaker 3 (11:21):
Now it's just a little.

Speaker 4 (11:22):
Short spot where it's only two lanes, but it's just
enough to really squish us up later on.

Speaker 3 (11:27):
In the day. For now, we're actually moving.

Speaker 4 (11:29):
I'm Skymike from the generator of supercenter dot com Traffic
Center from our KTRH top tax Defenders twenty four hour
with the Center.

Speaker 3 (11:36):
Terry Smith is here. I'm looking at your forecast. Looks
like today is sort of late fall, Tomorrow is sort
of early fall, Saturday sort of early fall, and then
Sunday sort of winter.

Speaker 6 (11:48):
Yeah, the many moods of mother Nature.

Speaker 3 (11:50):
Kidding, can we get her on some medication? What's going
on here?

Speaker 18 (11:54):
Well, the deal is you're gonna have to pay attention
every day to see what the latest is because it
is very changeable. Now, we had a cold front move
through yesterday, and now we've got some of that cooler
weather that we were talking about yesterday. Temperatures though aren't
too bad, generally mid to upper sixties this afternoon. That's

(12:16):
what it's supposed to be in December. But then tomorrow
does warm up. We got a little bit of a
westerly breeze, so it looks like mainly mid upper seventies tomorrow.
Over the weekend, we're dealing with some rain, not a washout, though,
a forty percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Saturday, thirty
percent chances of submarine probably early in the day Sunday,

(12:36):
and then we dry out by Monday.

Speaker 6 (12:38):
But here's the deal.

Speaker 18 (12:39):
Saturday's a mile day with our temperatures in the seventies,
but then it does get cooler Sunday, close to sixty,
and by Monday our high temperatures are in the fifties.
So yes, you will need short sleeves and long sleeves
and sweaters and parkas and all of that.

Speaker 3 (12:56):
All right, We'll keep the entire closet handy right now.
Forty three Official Severe Weather Station, News Radio seven forty KTRH.

Speaker 19 (13:05):

Speaker 2 (13:06):
Humble, reliable KTRH traffic and weather.

Speaker 3 (13:10):
Next on the ten, we are going to be participating
starting US six this morning with the Saint Jude Radio Thion.
It's being presented by Gallery Furniture. So thank you to
Mattress Mack for getting involved in this again this year.
We try to raise money. We try to help Sonny
our partner, raise money as much money as we can
for kids with cancer. More importantly, I think at times

(13:32):
I think that the parents involved here. It's hard enough
on kids, but it's really hard on the parents who
especially parents who might not necessarily be able to afford
hotels and airfare and all the things the treatments, because
treating cancer, especially childhood cancer, is extremely expensive proposition, and
Saint Jude takes on a lot of cases that other

(13:54):
health organizations have given up on. So if you'd like
to become a Partner and Hope, just hang on to
this phone number for starting at six. You can start
using it at six. You can become a Partner and
Hope by pledging nineteen dollars a month to help kids
at Saint Jude facing cancer. You can put your gift
on a card and you get the new shirt that
they have in the Saint Jude Hoodie. The number is

(14:14):
eight hundred five eight eight fourteen thirty three. That's eight
hundred five eight eight fourteen thirty three. Or you can
text them the word kids to the number six two
six two six two that's Kids six two six two
sixty two and click the link from Saint Jude to
make a donation. Like I said, more in this coming
up first though, traffic and whether together sky Mike, you're

(14:36):
sounding a little bored this morning. No, no, no, not bored.

Speaker 4 (14:39):
I'm just you know what, we really need a slinky
day with the Saint Jude radiothon and that way we
can focus on helping all this all these guys.

Speaker 20 (14:47):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (14:47):
But right now, just looking around, I want to check
out both sides of Iten Advisors, you are looking good
all the way from San Philippe, Texas into the downtown area.
President's heads, we look good here, hard hats, we're rocking.
Let's go back to Cove. Anybody know where Cove is?
I know, right past lost in Old River Bridge. Super
interesting spot. There's some kind of work on that bridge
going on, but it looks like we're moving fine. If

(15:09):
you see something I don't see over the bridge, you
let me know seven one three two one two t

Speaker 3 (15:15):

the way US Post Office letting down a charity.

Speaker 3 (15:24):
We'll have more in that coming up at the moment. First,
our KTRH Top tax Defenders. Twenty four hour Weather Center

tomorrow becoming party claude'slight chances with shower seventy seven on Saturday,
then morning showers on Sunday, afternoon clouds, high only about
sixty Current temperature is forty three. At your official severe

out some more of our top stories on a Thursday morning.

Speaker 5 (15:53):
Here's class sponsored by DNM auto losing President Trump. It's
an Indiana state lawmaker on blast for slowing down read
districting in that state. Galveston County Sheriff Jimmy Fallin's two
year long battle with the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement
finally ends, and what a bad day for Sharon Moore.
Michigan fired him as their head coach for having an
appropriate relationship with a staffer. Then he got arrested in

(16:15):
an apparent assault case. At the latest news anytime at
KTRH dot com. Our next update is at five point thirty.

Speaker 19 (16:23):
From the Sugarland area, Javi Airport area.

Speaker 2 (16:25):
You're reliable forecast next on the ten on seven KTRH.

Speaker 3 (16:32):
Well, they signed for it, they were supposed to be delivered.
They didn't get to where they were supposed to go.
That's the problem. There was a charity out there called
Boxes to Boots in What they do is they send
kind of like a little care package, you know, toiletries, cookies, snacks,
that kind of stuff to our our troops serving overseas.

(16:56):
And it's not a big organization, but you know, they
spent a lot of money, spent thousands of dollars with
the United States Postal Service to ship these holiday boxes.
And evidently there were some problems. First well, first of
all of the like thirteen hundred, eight hundred of them
ended up coming back. And then the post Office doesn't

(17:19):
can't account for at least one hundred of them. They
don't know where they are. Here we go again, US
Postal Service, here's the President Boxes to Boots talking about
what has gone wrong and how disappointed she is. So
you box these things up, what happens next?

Speaker 21 (17:35):
So next we brought them to New Britain High School
on November sixteenth, and this year was a record number
of boxes, eighteen one hundred and nine. Due to the
government shutdown, we brought seven hundred back for the Connecticut
National Guard. They weren't ready to deploy yet, so luckily
those are safe in our office, unshipped.

Speaker 3 (17:54):
So did you dot.

Speaker 22 (17:54):
Your eyes and cross your t's when you were shipping
these things out?

Speaker 21 (17:58):
My shipping manager, George spent weeks researching, working with the
post office. We thought we had everything perfected. In some
of the language. It's kind of like a union contract
where it's interpretation. So we thought even our small boxes
of cereal, you had to break it down as to

(18:19):
if it was green or non green. So we were
so precise and just included the toiletries.

Speaker 3 (18:27):
So what did customs say?

Speaker 21 (18:29):
Well, we that's the problem. We haven't gotten an answer.
Somehow three hundred of the boxes labeled with toiletrees all
the exact same cleared customs. So someone wasn't doing their job,
or maybe there was a shift change, but what's so
upsetting and disgraceful to me is every single one of

(18:51):
these boxes had my name and phone number on the
return information. So if you have eight hundred boxes, there's
eight around eight thousand dollars we spent on shipping. Someone
could have took the extra minute to call me and say, hey,
we have a huge problem here. Let me tell you
what it is. Here's your options. We could have driven

(19:14):
to New York or Customs wherever they are and with
our label maker fix that. And these boxes would have
been overseas. And clearly these boxes are all marked with
military addresses, so I would think people, if anything, would
bend over backwards for our troops.

Speaker 6 (19:31):
This is just disgusting.

Speaker 3 (19:33):
You're not happy, But then again, if you really want,
what joys do you have?

Speaker 23 (19:39):
Though?

Speaker 3 (19:39):
If you're shipping it overseas? Could she have done FedEx?
Would that be bort five twenty seven Time to take
a look at your money.

Speaker 24 (19:47):
Good morning. The Federal Reserve delivered eight third consecutive interest
rate cut yesterday.

Speaker 19 (19:52):
Lowering its frenchbark rates by quarter point.

Speaker 24 (19:55):
That drove big games for stocks, with the down rising
four hundred and ninety seven points. However, it is a
different story.

Speaker 11 (20:02):
This morning.

Speaker 24 (20:02):
Stock index futures are heading for a lower open. Shares
of Oracle are falling in the pre market after the
company reported disappointing sales in its cloud computing business, and
Chevron is in discussions with the Trump administration about remaining
in compliance with sanctions in Venezuela. Chevron is the only
remaining US oil major in Venezuela and has been operating

(20:25):
under waivers stretching back to the first Trump administration. I'm

All right, let's go to the north side. I've got

huge old chuck dingit.

Speaker 25 (21:38):
Oh well, said hit him, Katy herbid herbid one car.

Speaker 3 (21:42):

Speaker 4 (21:46):

we won't get that far ahead. We'll get Terry Smith
in here. With the complete forecast in eight minutes. Current
temperature is forty three at your official severe weather station,
News Radio seven forty k TRH. It's time now for
the news. Here's Cliff Sanders.

Speaker 5 (22:22):
Why thirty two, Good Morning? Every one hour top story?

Speaker 26 (22:26):
Can I have one thing? Can I have one thing?
Can my children have one thing? Everything?

Speaker 5 (22:36):
Was public Erica Kirk on Fox News, pushing back against
the multiple conspiracy theories out there about Charlie Kirk's assassination,
adding that she doesn't have the time to quote address
the noise meantime in Washington.

Speaker 27 (22:50):
The only crocket we care about in Texas is Davy Crockett.
Most Textans I talk to, they're not really focused on
whatever Jasmin Crockett's latest musings are.

Speaker 5 (23:00):
Texas Republican Congressmanship Roy on Fox down playing Crockett's chances
in the Senate race. He's not the only unhinged Democrat
member of the Texas delegation. May we present Al Green,
who filed articles of impeachment against President Trump again, he.

Speaker 28 (23:18):
Has conducted himself in office such that person's now threatening
members of the Judiciary, threatening members of the House of Representatives,
threatening members of the Senate.

Speaker 5 (23:28):
Green has pulled this stug multiple times before and has
never succeeded. That said, eight Texas Republicans are not seeking
reelection for Congress. Marjorie Taylor Green is retiring, and South
Carolina's Nancy Mason is running for that state's governorship. They
all blasted House GOP leadership, or rather Mace did during
a recent op ed, for not getting anything done while

(23:50):
holding the majority.

Speaker 3 (23:51):
Well, they don't want to get anything done.

Speaker 29 (23:52):
I mean, I think that's a strategy moving forward into
the midterms. You still have a lot of Republicans who
do not like Trump, who are moderate are the rhinos.
We literally have four or five months to get something done,
and I don't think we're going to get a dog
on thing.

Speaker 5 (24:05):
Republican strategist Matt Locke says there's a lot of big
money against Trump's agenda. Five point thirty four Here at home,
Attorney General Ken Paxton launches a probe into almost a
thousand cities across Texas to ensure they are in compliance
with property tax laws.

Speaker 6 (24:21):
One of those cities is in Houston.

Speaker 5 (24:24):
He might want to start looking at the small towns
and even mud districts as well.

Speaker 30 (24:28):
The eternation those office really wanted to maximize the resources
they would look at those because those financial records are
a lot easier to pass through than the thousand pages
you're going to get from the city of Houston or
Dallas or whatever else.

Speaker 5 (24:39):
Charles Blaine with Urban Reform says, it's a great way
to put these large cities on notices because they don't
know who the AG's office might focus on. Paxton's investigations
into immigrant serving nonprofits also has the Left up in arms.

Speaker 3 (24:54):
The left claims to care, but really they just want
to protect their power.

Speaker 31 (24:58):

Finally, next week we're going to get data on jobs.
We're going to get a November jobs report, and then
we're also going to be getting the consumer price index,
So that's going to give us some clues as to
more recent economic data.

Speaker 5 (26:00):
But he thinks the biggest factor will be whomever the
President chooses to replace Powell next spring. A result of
rising prices since the pandemic, the American dream of owning
a home has become a luxury.

Speaker 33 (26:14):
According to har dot com, a household income has to
earn just over ninety two thousand dollars for the median
average Houston home costing three hundred and thirty seven thousand
dollars bank rates. Alex Gaily says roughly eighty six percent
of the homes on the market just aren't affordable, and.

Speaker 34 (26:31):
That's when homeownership starts to feel less like a typical
middle class milestone.

Speaker 19 (26:36):
And more like a luxury. And Gaily says the problem was.

Speaker 34 (26:40):
Home prices grew way faster.

This is HU Morning News. Well, I make no illusions
about there ever being a statue of me.

Speaker 3 (28:05):
No, no, not. My wife was to direct the statue
to me. You know, there's a lot of statues in Washington,
DC and bus you know, the bus being just the
head or I guess part of the chest in the
head goes into a bus. I'm guessing every president has
a bust, right does every vice president have a bust?

(28:25):
Is kamo is talking about how there needs to be
a bust to her on display at the Capitol, because,
after all, she is historic. I assume she means when
she says she's historic, she means she's historic because she
is the first black Indian female vice president. You know,
she had all that kind of thing going for. From

(28:48):
a DEI standpoint, I think she was also historically bad,
but that's a different story. Here's Greg Gutfield having some
fun with it. This could be an amazing bus.

Speaker 37 (28:58):
I seem more like fuzzy naval fountain you see at weddings,

Speaker 37 (29:09):
Here's the problem with talking about a bus. It puts
you in the past. The moment she said that, she
just said that she's not gonna, she's done, She's finished.
I got my trophy. It's like, and you just think
of museums and elderly docents and musty velvet ropes and
Brian Kilmead sitting in the corner eating chips.

Speaker 23 (29:32):
No.

Speaker 37 (29:32):
Her beef, which is amplified by the title of her book,
is that she didn't have enough time.

Speaker 6 (29:37):
Dear, you had more time than anyone.

Speaker 37 (29:39):
You were VP. You know on your day planner there's
only funerals. You had four years as an understudy. At
any moment, it could have been you. You were the
emergency president, and you still think you didn't.

Speaker 6 (29:53):
Have enough time.

Speaker 37 (29:54):
We all got to know you, and we still didn't
like you. We could argue more time with Kama worse
for Kamala. Have you ever heard of crap Island? I've
talked about this, right, that's when ever you get on
crap Island. You can't get off it, and you're not
even sure why you're on it. But it's just sad
because your presence gives off bad vibes for many people,

(30:16):
and for a lot of people, they don't want to
be reminded of twenty twenty four. It's like when I
smell parmesan cheese, it reminds me of when I threw

Speaker 3 (30:26):
It doesn't matter.

Speaker 6 (30:27):
It's like parmesan cheese.

Speaker 37 (30:28):
When it's grated parmesan cheese, it's just like I don't
want it.

Speaker 3 (30:31):
It's nothing against the parmesan.

Speaker 38 (30:33):
You got no parason on your pasta.

Speaker 3 (30:35):
No I a big parmesan. Don't come after me.

Speaker 37 (30:38):
But it's like it's just like it's like I'd rather
I'd rather not deal with it.

Speaker 3 (30:43):
She is on crap island, she can't get off it. Well,
that's a good place to put her bust crap Island.

nice days coming up. Just I'm only looking at one
day here as just to stay inside and don't worry
about what's going on outdoors. Other than Sunday, this forecast
looks pretty good.

Speaker 18 (32:17):
Well, I'm looking ahead to Monday and I'm saying stay inside. Yeah, today,
not too bad. It is cooler, but it's you know,
it's a it's a typical December day, and it's a
sunny day in our windsor light, so overall a pleasant day.
Temperatures look to be mid to upper sixties this afternoon,

and tomorrow is even warmer. Another sunny, dry day. His
in the mid to upper seventies tomorrow Saturday. That's why
we start to get some rain. There's a cold front
on our way, so a little bit of rain over
the weekend. Forty percent chance you'll get wet Saturday. Sunday
at thirty percent chance of showers. Looks like that'll be
in the morning hours, will be dry by the afternoon. Monday,

(33:01):
sunny and dry, but it's okay. So Sunday's cooler with
temperatures generally upper fifties to low sixties.

Speaker 6 (33:10):

Speaker 2 (36:14):
Next on the ten on seven forty KTRH.

Speaker 3 (36:19):
Well, the Fed has decided to go along with an
interest rate Hiko. Though I know it wasn't unanimous. It
wasn't unanimous this time around. But there was a more
interesting language I thought from the FED chair Jerome Powell
regarding inflation. He seems to finally be admitting that, well,
we're not really getting any inflation from these s taruffs.

(36:39):
Pat Chin joins us our KTRH money man, what do
you make hey, Jimmy, Hey, what do you make of
the what the Jerome Paul had to say about inflation?

Speaker 39 (36:48):
Oil boy? There's a lot to unpack here, Jimmy. So,
first off, for my intro music, I was hoping for
Stevie ray Vaughn walking the tight rope. That's what the
Federal Reserve is doing right now. So remember every other
central bank around the world, they're only concerned with inflation.
The Federal Reserve, they've got a dual mandate. Not only

(37:09):
are they looking for low inflation, they also want full employment,
and that is exactly why they're cutting interest rates. They
have decided they've moved the goalposts, Jimmy, if you will,
because remember their target rate is two percent inflation year
over year. We just got the latest numbers the Federal
Reserve's favorite measure of inflation last week came in at

(37:31):
two point eight percent. So it's still well above their
target rate. Yes, it's way way down from where it was,
but they are ignoring that and they're focused on jobs. Now,
this about fell out of my chair. During Powell's press conference,
he says the government data is overstating jobs by sixty

(37:53):
thousand jobs a month. Right now, Well, if you look
at the data since April, we've only been adding forty
thousand jobs a month. So if Pal's right and these
jobs numbers are no good, we're looking at, you know,
minus jobs numbers. I think President Trump is probably headed
in the right direction in terms of the Fed probably
needs to be lowering rates even more if their job

(38:15):
is just if they're trying to target full employment.

Speaker 3 (38:18):
So we've noticed that there are some companies that are
beginning layoffs here in some of these national companies by
the thousands. Yeah, do they consider that as well as
that part of the job's number they work with.

Speaker 39 (38:28):
Absolutely, So we do get a number called JOLTS that's
job openings and Labor Turnover survey. It was interesting what
last week showed. Showed that the big, big, big companies
were adding jobs. The smaller companies know. And so if
we look at just the total picture, we're seeing not
a lot of hires, but not a ton of fires,

(38:50):
so not a lot of layoffs. And so we're looking
at unemployment right now around four point four percent. Way
back when Alan Greenspan, he told Congress that what he
considered full employment was five percent. So even four point
four is not that bad. So remember, I want to
add a couple of things, Jimmy. Remember when we talk

(39:10):
about interest rates, there's no single rate. There's an entire
spectrum that runs anywhere from overnight all the way out
to thirty years. That's called a yield curve. What we're
talking about the Fed doing is simply the overnight rate.
This has nothing to do with mortgages, credit cards, car loans,
et cetera. I could see the possibility, I don't know

(39:30):
if it'll happen or not, where longer term interest rates
go up and short rates go down. Certainly you and
I talked, gosh two years ago, I told people, you know,
short short rates are really high. Now's a good time
to move your money out of the bank into one
of these government money market funds SCHWAP, Government Money Fund, Fidelity, Vanguard.

(39:53):
The yields on those Jimmy are all coming down now.
Back when you and I talked about this, the yield
is five percent. Right now it's three point. It's going
to continue to be lower. But if you want to
beat your bank, that's still a good spot. And if
you've got the money in one of those government money
funds and you don't need it, take a look at
a Treasury bill. I think rates are going to be

(40:14):
coming down. Uh. Powell doesn't have much credibility, hardly any
I think the mark he told everybody yesterday we're only
going to cut rates one time in twenty twenty six.
The market is not buying it. No, they're still pricing
in three rate cuts.

Speaker 3 (40:31):
Okay, well, we'll see what happens with all this. But
it is always thank you, sir for all the great
information you got it. That's our countrh money man, Pat Schinn.

Speaker 3 (42:16):
Obamacare is a scam.

Speaker 28 (42:18):
Under Obamacare, trillions of dollars were given directly to health
insurance companies.

Speaker 5 (42:24):
President Trump on Obamacare earlier this week. Congress votes today
on dueling healthcare funding bills. A GOPS package would discontinue
one type of subsidy, but leave enhanced subsidies alone. Democrats
are demanding a three year extension on these subsidies. They're
getting help, believe it or not, from a group of

(42:46):
moderate Republicans.

Speaker 11 (42:48):
We need to be bipartisan in this approach.

Speaker 40 (42:50):
If you're going to get two undred et votes in
the House and sixty votes in the Senate, it has
to be a bipartisan bill by definition.

Speaker 5 (42:57):
Pennsylvania's Brian Fitzpatrick is one one of those moderates. There's
also this Thirteen House Republicans joined Democrats in advancing a
bill to reverse President Trump's order cracking down on federal
worker unions. Among those Republicans Mike Lawler of New York
Nicole Malliatakis, also of New York. These moderates are a

(43:18):
problem for the president. So is the deep State, which
is working overtime to thwart his agenda. According to whistleblowers.

Speaker 11 (43:25):
And sistant attorney says, I represent the United States of America,
and I don't want you to investigate corruption that specifically
involves the DOJ.

Speaker 5 (43:37):
Doctor Timothy Schindelar told the Lara Logan podcast that a
group of disloyal members of the deep State are working
across the board to undermine the Trump administration. Part of
that agenda the pushed and birthright citizenship will be heard
by the US Supreme Court. Fox's list Peak says this
is going to be one of the top stories of
twenty twenty six.

Speaker 13 (43:59):
If you really want it down on people coming across
our border illegally, you've got to reduce the enticements for
them to do so.

Speaker 6 (44:06):
And this is a huge denticement.

Speaker 13 (44:07):
Free education, free healthcare, free housing, even down the road.
So this is worth a gazillion dollars.

Speaker 6 (44:14):

Speaker 5 (44:14):
It will also lead to a great opportunity for Trump

She was when Norway, her daughter accepted the Nobel Peace

smuggling advanced AI chips to China. The bad news is

(45:13):
that there are probably more of these businesses doing these things.

Speaker 6 (45:18):
Across the world.

Speaker 9 (45:20):
Places like Singapore have been hubs for this smuggling. We
should be very concerned about chips sales to places that
have had this history of being channels to the People's
Republic of China.

Speaker 5 (45:32):
China expert and author Gordon Chang points out that this
is not the first time Chinese espionage operations cropped up

The tools you need to take on the day news
in the morning Weather and TRAPA. This is Houston's Morning

time I had a landline with this song was Big
six eight is our time here in Houston's more News
at and T continues to talk about because they're expected
to maintain, they're made out of copper, they're they're they're

(48:08):
difficult to maintain land lines, and it just makes me wonder,
when was the last time you used a landline? Do
you still have a landline in your home? You know,
we tease all the time that it's just the old
people who have landlines, but I'm guessing there are a

(48:28):
few who have landlines for other reasons, not the least
of which is whether or not they have sketchy cell
phone service where they are. You know, if you live
in a cell tower dead zone, if you don't have
a landline, how are you supposed to communicate in an emergency?

Speaker 3 (48:42):
I guess you could. Well, you're going to text nine
one one. Texting works in areas where phone calls sometimes don't.
But you've got to text nine one one looking for help.
Probably not so at and T continues to say, the
end is coming. We just want you to know, just
like we had the story I think it was yesterday
about uh, you know, the FED, the FED and the
federal government stopped stopping accepting checks or sending checks from

(49:05):
bank to bank from the from the FED. You know,
checks becoming a thing of the past because of electronic banking.
Landlines are becoming a thing of the past because of
cell phone technology and the and the and the cost
of maintaining the landline. So here's our question today. You
go to the iHeartRadio at k t r H. Do

(49:26):
you have a landline. If you do have a landline,
why do you still use it? Do you or do
you have a member of your family who is never
going to give up their landline until the just plane
stops working. Or if you recall, when was the last
time you had a landline? How long have you been
without one? We I don't think we've had a landline

(49:48):
for well over twenty years, six ten time for traffic

Speaker 4 (49:51):
I think I had AOL when I had a landline.

Speaker 3 (49:54):
Okay, the last time you ever? You ever loaded aoo AOL?
Are you talking about the yeah, the old hand things?
You used to call that the handshait?

Speaker 39 (50:04):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (50:04):
Yeah, sorry, I'm loading here. Sorry, it would take like
two or three minutes to load. Ricky Si, how got

Speaker 23 (50:12):
All?

Speaker 9 (50:12):
Right?

Speaker 3 (50:13):
East tax Freeway? Later road?

Speaker 4 (50:15):
Pretty ladies on TV? You're telling me that recks pretty gnarly.

Speaker 6 (50:18):
Let's see.

Speaker 3 (50:18):
Oh, Gary Matck got me a shot here, Thank you.

Speaker 39 (50:20):
Gary.

Speaker 4 (50:21):
That is twelve to twenty five on the Transtar cameras.
And yeah, that's looking pretty ugly.

Speaker 3 (50:25):
It's in the feeder.

Speaker 4 (50:26):
My question for you, if you're driving in from the sticks,
can you see it? Can you see it from the roadway.
I don't know if I can anticipate any rubbernecking on this.
It's not causing any problem for the main lane so far.
Just don't get on the feeder right there. I don't
think you would anyway, six in northwest bound we are
squeezed down at forty five.

Speaker 3 (50:45):
That's maybe an extra minute going that way.

Speaker 4 (50:47):
And they've reopened the ramp now on the eastext Dude,
they had the East Tex ramp that goes to Baytown
shut down. I know that missed some people up. You
have to get off the road and go. It'll force
you to go toward downtown. You have to get off
Maine Sanjacino and sit through a light or two. We'll
look out for zombies there. You get back on nine
ten head the other way, but they're about to reopen

(51:07):
that and just checking a six to ten east.

Speaker 3 (51:10):
I'll check the bridge, this bridge here and south.

Speaker 4 (51:13):
Oh, look at that northbound the ramp from the bridge

land line?

Speaker 18 (51:27):
Uh? No, we do not, but we kept the landline
for a long time while the kids were home, because
that way they could just pick up a phone and
call somebody if they needed to without a problem.

Speaker 4 (51:40):
But she still has that TV that looks like furniture.
It's about eight feet long. It's made out of wood.

Speaker 23 (51:44):
You know.

Speaker 3 (51:44):
The TV itself is only this big. But you can
land an aircraft on those you mean the one where
the channel turner breaks and you have to pull all
a pair of plyers and click. Yeah, if there's a tornado,
you go under that. Sorry, I'm.

Speaker 6 (51:58):
That's why I keep it for protection.

Speaker 3 (52:02):
State of the art. State of the art. All right.

Speaker 18 (52:06):
Well, hey, there's a nice stretch of weather until the weekend,
and that's when we start to get some rain and
there is a big dose of cold weather. You know,
this might just help with the holiday spirit that starts
Sunday and Monday. Today's a mild day, I'm going to
call it. It's a nice day with the sunshine. Temperatures
are cooler than yesterday. But this is December, middupper sixties. Today,

(52:31):
Tomorrow gets warmer in the mid upper seventies. Tomorrow Saturday,
we start to get some rain. Forty percent chants of
rain Saturday, thirty percent chants of some rain early Sunday.

Speaker 6 (52:42):
Saturday, still in the seventies.

Speaker 18 (52:44):

Research Hospital Marathon presented by Gallery Furniture. We are asking
for help today and tomorrow will be taking just a
few minutes out of every hour to ask you for
some help for Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital to raise money.
They are, as far as I'm concerned, the premier children's
research hospital in the country. They have developed all sorts

(53:31):
of treatments for childhood cancer that didn't exist before their existence.
They have given a lifeline to families who have run
out of hope and run out of options. And the
best part of all is they pay for everything. They
pay for the travel, they pay for the lodging, they
pay for the food. They take care of everything so
the parents can concentrate on caring for their child and

(53:54):
not have to worry about where the next meal is
coming from. And all we're asking from our listeners is
for you to become a partner and hope by pledging
just nineteen dollars a month to help kids at Saint
Jude finding cancer. You can put your gift on a card.
You get a new T shirt. You also get a
Saint Jude hoodie. You can do two different ways. You
can either call or text. You can call eight hundred
five eight eight fourteen thirty three. That's eight hundred five

(54:17):

that's kids Kids to the number six two six two

Speaker 3 (55:53):
Right here on news radio seven forty KTRH tells what
Nancy mas is asking these days.

Speaker 15 (55:59):
Why by.

Speaker 3 (56:02):
Nancy Waye Mason has come out against the leadership of
the Republican Party, I assume that includes the House Speaker.
She take a swing at leadership and a new opinion
piece that she did for The New York Times, saying
I came to Congress five years ago believing I could
make a difference to my constituents for South Carolina, for
a country I love deeply. I was the first woman
to graduate from the Citadel's Corps of Cadets. I don't

(56:23):
scare easily, but I've learned that the system in the
House promotes control by party leaders over accountability and achievement.
No one can be held responsible for inaction. So far,
too little gets done. The obstacles to achieving almost anything
are enough to make any member who came to Washington
with noble intentions asked why am I even here? Joins

(56:45):
to talk about Matt Locke, host and Republican strategist. I've
heard some of the things coming out of the mouth
of Marjorie Taylor Green. Are these just you know, far
right women who are having a history Vader They have
a legitimate gripe here, Matt.

Speaker 42 (57:00):
Well, I think a lot of us have a legitimate
gripe when it comes to both sides of the aisle.
And currently we're watching as a Republican party isn't following
through on all of the things they said that they
wanted to do in midterms and all that stuff. So
folks are getting upset. And now you're seeing people like
Marthie Taylor Green, Nancy Mays who are out, you know,

(57:20):
putting that out on the air, and I guess letting
you know they're frustrated as well.

Speaker 3 (57:25):
Okay, well, what do you think the results are of this? Clearly,
I think they're probably trying to spur Republican leadership to action,
to shame them into getting something done. But do they
run the risk of having the effect of people saying, well,
it doesn't matter if I both for Republican, they won't
get anything done. It does?

Speaker 42 (57:43):
It does, And I don't know if this is the
appropriate way to be going out and shaming anything. We
know what our politicians are doing, we know what they're
not doing. Maybe pull them aside behind closed doors and say, hey, look,
you know this is not what my constituents want. Maybe
we go a different direction. If that doesn't work, I'm
not for sure if it's I don't know. I don't

(58:05):
know if it's worth saving, or if it is capable
of being saved.

Speaker 3 (58:09):
You know, I wonder too, we've had a couple of
Texas Republicans who have pulled out and are not running
for re Electionship Roy comes to mind. He's running for
state wide office. There are others who have decided that
they're not going to run for reelection. They give the
rationale to be either spending more time with family or
coming back to their home state. But I wonder how
many of them are just as frustrated as Nancy Maceys.

Speaker 26 (58:31):
Well.

Speaker 42 (58:31):
I think there's a couple of things within that frustration
is probably one of them. But Trump has turned off
the money spickt that you used to make more money
in Congress. She saw Nancy Pelosi's now retiring, but she's
like ninety five thousand years old, But she did what
six thousand percent better than the stock market in all
of these things. But I think the money's starting to
dry up a little bit with usaid going away. You've

(58:54):
got all the stuff for PBS and NPR and parenthood
and all of these corporations that we're kicking money back.
I think lobbyists and special interest have less hold onto
these people now, and so a lot of them are like,
well the squeeze, you know, the juices or the squeeze.

Speaker 3 (59:11):
Yeah, I'm not I'm not making enough money and I'm
not getting anything done. Bad combination. All right, man, before
we let you go, I know you have a new
book out called I See. What's what's the book all about?

Speaker 42 (59:21):
Well, I wrote a book that is the Matrix, Big
Brother and Atlas Shrugged all kind of combined in the
one where folks are being controlled by disinformation.

Speaker 3 (59:32):
Is a feel good story.

Speaker 15 (59:34):
Yeah yeah.

Speaker 42 (59:35):
He really has some underpinnings of what is taking place
today with social media, with corporations selling you a bag
of goods that my main.

Speaker 3 (59:45):
Character figures out.

Speaker 42 (59:45):
Hey, look, he gets the gift of site from what's
called the optolink, but he has given the site that
they want him to see, so he figures that out,
goes after them, and it's a feel good story in
the end.

Speaker 3 (59:56):
Okay, sounds good. Thank you, sir, appreciated Matt Lock, host
and Republican strategist and the author of renewed book called
ic spelled E y E s E. I see it's

Here's Cliff Launders at.

Speaker 6 (01:02:33):
Six thirty two.

Speaker 5 (01:02:34):
Our top story here in Texas, Attorney General Ken Paxton
is investigating nearly one thousand cities, including Houston, to make
sure they are following new requirements on property taxes.

Speaker 8 (01:02:46):
This is a warning to these cities that they're being
watched and will be held to account.

Speaker 30 (01:02:50):
None of those thousand cities that get this request know
which one that he's just going to stop and kind
of take a look at him, So it kind of
puts them all on notice to adhere to go off.

Speaker 8 (01:02:58):
Charles Blaine with Urban Reform says x Paxton should start
looking into smaller towns and mud districts.

Speaker 30 (01:03:03):
Not only do you often find a lot of ways
abuse and just outright fraud in them, but you don't
have the level of accountability that you have in major cities.

Speaker 8 (01:03:11):
Blaine says this is also a sign that voters need
to start paying more attention to things like this as well.
Ethan Buchanan News Radio seven forty KTRH.

Speaker 5 (01:03:18):
We left is losing its mind over Paxton's investigation of
immigrants serving nonprofits, but he's doing what any age is
doing in his position. Richard Harris of Truth and Liberty says,
many of these outfits blatantly register illegals to vote, which
needs to stop.

Speaker 31 (01:03:35):
Every illegal that's registered dilutes the vote of every other
citizen that votes, so this is perfectly legitimate. One of
the driving problems with election integrity are loaded and inaccurate
voter registration roles. It is one of the primary defects
that allows fraud to happen.

Speaker 5 (01:03:52):
He says, cleaning up the roles like this should be
a priority for every state. South Carolina Congresswoman Nancy Mace
is just the latest Republican that go off on the
House GOP leadership. As it stands right now, twenty seven
Republicans won't be coming back to Congress after the midterms, and.

Speaker 29 (01:04:11):
That includes eight here in Texas. It's no longer profitable
to be in politics. Trump's starting to take the money away.
They're looking at stock trading. You're going to see a
lot of representatives and senators leave, which they are.

Speaker 12 (01:04:23):
That is host and Republican strategist Matt Locke.

Speaker 29 (01:04:27):
I think they see the fact that it's no longer
profitable to do it, so they're going into the real world.
They're going back into the free market where they can
make more money, be lobbyists and get rich now that
they've made money off you and I.

Speaker 12 (01:04:38):

does not get Texans or Texas at all.

Speaker 3 (01:04:57):
She doesn't understand Hispanics and.

Speaker 43 (01:05:00):
Texas because I'll tell you in twenty twenty four, Donald
Trump carried a majority of Hispanics in Texas.

Speaker 5 (01:05:05):
In twenty twenty four, I carried a majority of Hispanics
Crockett told Vanity Fair last year that Hispanic Trump owner
Trump voters had a quote a slave mentality. Here we
go again, Houston Democrat Al Green files impeachment papers against
President Trump. You know he's done this several times over

about some secular revolutionary coming.

cut since September. The Fed cher Jerome Powell hinted at
just one rate cut in the new year. KTRH moneyman
Patchin says investors are more optimistic.

Speaker 32 (01:06:14):
We think the market believes President Trump is going to
bring in somebody who might lean more towards cutting rates,
and therefore that may be why the market is pricing
in three rate cuts.

Speaker 38 (01:06:25):

Speaker 34 (01:06:53):
If a typical household in the area can only afford
ten to thirty percent of homes on the market, it's
a sign that home prices are out of sync with
what many people are actually earning.

Speaker 6 (01:07:03):

The Houston market is moving in the right direction of

the other countries should do the exact same thing.

Speaker 3 (01:07:17):
Is a brilliant move.

Speaker 44 (01:07:18):
I wish the United States would do it, in which
every country would do it. Countless studies show that social
media is damaging to teenagers, to young kids, to those
who have not whose brains have not fully formed yet.

Speaker 3 (01:08:12):
It's six thirty eight. Now, if you're in Houston's Morning News,
a right much has been made again. My theory on
Jasmine Crockett running for you a centate number one. She's
a She's an attention whore. You she she wants the attention.
Number one. Number two, it's about the Benjamin's about making
the money. It's about, you know, being able to go
out to donors and make more money for her campaign,

(01:08:32):
and you know, maybe use a little bit money for
her own self if you don't what I me. So,
I think she understands that she hasn't got a prayer pointing,
and she's perfectly okay with that, because that's not what
she's all about anyway. She's not about policy, she's not
about politics. She's about making money and making a name
for herself. Jesse Waters had former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy

(01:08:56):
on his program last night talking about the candidacy of
Jazz Crockett.

Speaker 43 (01:09:00):
Can you believe the Republican Party tricked Crockett into running
for Senate?

Speaker 40 (01:09:06):
You know what, Jim Scott, everybody should send money to
the Senatorial committee because well done, well played, gonna save
was a lot of money.

Speaker 6 (01:09:14):
People were afraid.

Speaker 40 (01:09:15):
Coming out of competitive Republican primary that the Democrats could
win that Senate seat.

Speaker 6 (01:09:21):
And Crockett gets in, Allard gets.

Speaker 40 (01:09:24):
Out, they still got another Democrat or to in. But
oh my god, she makes Kamala look bright. She does
told her to run who knows?

Speaker 43 (01:09:34):
You know Beato, I guess you can say was competitive.
You know, he wore blue jeans, He campaigned all around
the state. They had something going. Does Crockett appeal to
the entire state of Texas?

Speaker 6 (01:09:48):
No, that would be the last state.

Speaker 40 (01:09:50):
If you were a cad if you were advising her
to run statewide in and then would you literally have
a campaign announcement and say I don't need anybody who
voted for Trump. How do you think you win? You
win by getting more votes. You want people to join
with you. She's rejecting people. She's trying to play the

(01:10:10):
Kamala Harris race. How do I start high and end low?

Speaker 3 (01:10:15):
Again? I think they're missing the point of what this
woman's trying to do. I think she knows exact I mean,
we may think she's an idiot, and she certainly says
some things that are idiotic, but you know, she was
a lawyer. You're not doubles to stuff and become a lawyer,
at least last time I checked. So I think this
is all very calculated. Six forty time for traffic and

get these we get these really nice mild days, and
then we get go right into the a really cold day,
and then we come right back again.

Speaker 18 (01:12:11):
It's like a roller coaster, you know. Like today's a
little bit cooler than yesterday. Yesterday was quite mild, about
five to ten degrees above the norm. Today's back to
normal December. We're in the middumber sixties today, so it's
a nice day tomorrow, though warm's backed up into the
mid umber seventies. Next coldfront's on the way, so we've

in the morning, but the afternoon's dry and the temperatures
are beginning to get colder. Upper fifties to low sixties

that money just goes where it needs to go to
help families and help kids who are fighting cancer. And
I can't think of a better way to spend your money.
By the way, if you want to make a gift
in somebody else name, you can do that too, But

get charged every month for that for that year, and

(01:14:27):
One of two ways, you can call eight hundred five

I wonder Australia has decided to ban it for under

says you can detox from social media.

Speaker 19 (01:16:24):
This isn't breaking news.

Speaker 45 (01:16:25):
We all know that social media probably isn't good for
our mental health, and this one survey that came out
really is just adding to additional data that shows that
when you come off social media there are positive mental
and physical health benefits. When you're on social media, we've identified.

Speaker 6 (01:16:41):
Through functional MRI and other.

Speaker 45 (01:16:42):
Studies that it directly affects our anterior singulate gyrus, which
is responsible for our emotional regulation, and also our brain chemistry,
our stress hormones, our feel good hormones. They're all affected
by being on social media. And when people take a
break from social media, one thing that what they do
notice is that initial feeling of restlessness and even fomo

(01:17:04):
fear of missing out. But eventually within a few days
they actually are feeling more clarity, they're able to have
better interpersonal community or connections, and they're able to be
more focused. They have more energy, and they are even
sleeping better and saying they have decrease depression, anxiety, and
some of those negative feelings. So getting away from social

(01:17:26):
media actually recenters your brain and resets that dopamine stimulation
that those feel good hormones. When you get away from
social media, you start having those good, feel good neural
hormones for other things like human interaction and healthy things.

Speaker 9 (01:22:01):
China has been trying to get his hands on advanced

not nearly as good as ours.

Speaker 8 (01:22:09):
China expert and author Gordon Chang added that this isn't
the first time Houston was caught up in Chinese espionage.

Speaker 9 (01:22:15):
In the first Trump administration, Secretary of State Pompeo closed

It is now seven oh four Congress votes on opposing

The Biden COVID bonuses. What they do is they take
the income limit off, so there's no people making five

a lot of people in this country don't even know
they're covered because the insurance companies or incentivized to auto.

Speaker 3 (01:23:01):

Speaker 5 (01:23:02):
Democrats are demanding a three year extension for subsidies that
expire at the end of the month. If it seems
to you like President Trump's efforts to reform the federal
government or being thwarted from the inside.

Speaker 6 (01:23:13):
You're probably right.

Speaker 11 (01:23:15):
You could have the best intentions in the world, but
if you don't have a loyal crew, a loyal group

And that's exactly what's occurring. They're undermining them.

But this deep state could not stop Trump from shutting

Trump somehow blueses.

Speaker 12 (01:23:50):
And that would be Fox News columnist Liz Peak.

Speaker 13 (01:23:53):
I think this case being held by the court, if
the Trump white House is smart, it will take advantage
of that and say, let's do other things. Let's create
a legal immigration system that most Americans would agree with.

Speaker 12 (01:24:05):
She says it would be a Maga win on immigration.

Speaker 13 (01:24:09):

Listen and you'll know use Radio seven KTRH. Not only
is that song about a landline, it's about a payphone.
If you could if you were to ask a twenty
one year old what a payphone is, would they be
able to answer the question. Probably, I don't know. Maybe

(01:26:25):
if they've been to a museum. Landlines are on their
way to the museum at and t reminding everybody again
that they are phasing out landlines slowly, but surely they
are going to go away now. Their grandma might still
have a landline, but I don't know how much longer
the landline is going to work. So the question of
the day became for me anyway, do you still have

(01:26:46):
a landline? Do you still use a landline? Why? Why
do you still have a landline? I haven't had a
landline in probably twenty twenty five years. Of course i'd
lived somewhere. I've always lived somewhere where. With cell phone
services good, I'd never had to worry about not being
able to make a connection. That's the question landlines. Do
you or someone you know are low to have a
lane line? Why do they insist on keeping their landline?

Speaker 28 (01:27:07):
Hey, Jimmy, I've only started owning a home eight years,
and even before then, I'd never had my own landline,
and I don't intend to have one ever.

Speaker 41 (01:27:15):
David Oakridge. The old public switch telephone network was based
on copper lines and had batteries and their switching facilities
was the most reliable network ever built. That doesn't happen
anymore because so much of the network is based on
fiber optics with equipment that needs power, and the old
PSCN work when the power went out, not anymore with

(01:27:38):
the new optical based networks.

Speaker 16 (01:27:41):
Dave on Lake Conrad. The last time I had a

I think anything that deals with kids and a life

super important. I know I've probably told this story a

he had a condition called pyloric stenosis. He ended up
at mont Trelin's Hospital in Annurbur, Michigan. Another fine facility,
by the way, but when you have a six week

Tell you what this Venezuelan story is fascinating to me.
We have we captured a Venezuelan oil tanker, took it
into US custody. I mean the whole thing. There's like
a million gallons of million barrels of oil something like that,
million barrels of oil on board this thing. It's a
big oil tanker. So why did we do it? What
is the strategy behind this? Here is retired Marine intelligence

(01:34:36):
officer Hal Comfort. One of the reasons that.

Speaker 23 (01:34:38):
We're that is being done is simply because we have
the forces there to do it. In many cases, these
these tankers, sometimes called dark tankers tankers are involved in
various smuggling of sanctioned oil and things like that, which
is what this tanker is accused of doing. Uh, they
go in and out, they don't get stopped because we
just simply don't have the four is on hand to

(01:35:00):
do the interrediction. In this case, that tanker came out
of the port in Venezuela, and we have this massive
naval armada out there and everything that we need to
stop it. And technically, and I'm not sure if those
were Coast guardsmen that were actually repelling onto the ship.
Could have been could have been navy seals, or could

(01:35:22):
have been you know, bringing raiders, or it could have
been any mix that went on the ship.

Speaker 18 (01:35:27):
And uh.

Speaker 23 (01:35:27):
And but the but the vessel is actually being seized
by the US Coast Guard and uh, and it is
being held.

Speaker 3 (01:35:34):
It's it's somewhat unusual, it's big.

Speaker 23 (01:35:35):
It's about one point one million barrels of oil on
that tanker.

Speaker 9 (01:35:40):
Uh.

Speaker 23 (01:35:41):
That's more than the daily output of Venezuela.

Speaker 3 (01:35:44):
So it's a it's a lot of oil.

Speaker 23 (01:35:46):
But it is very forceful enforcement of of some of
the sanctions that we have on oil producing countries. Actually
there aren't very good reasons. Part of it is that
it focuses on Iran and I'm Rain and oil and
sanctioned Irenian oil, particularly now into the statback provisions that
have kicked back in and Iran.

Speaker 3 (01:36:05):
So that's part of it.

Speaker 23 (01:36:06):
Part of it is looking at that, and you can
bet that we have a lot of ways that this
has been identified, not just by the US but by
other countries involved with illegal shipments of oil from Iran
to various different other places.

Speaker 3 (01:36:20):
I would not be surprised if.

Speaker 23 (01:36:22):
We find out that this was involved with sh ship
to ship transfers at sea, which are very hazardous, potentially causing.

Speaker 3 (01:36:30):
Significant environmental damage.

Speaker 6 (01:36:32):
That could have been some of the stuff done.

Speaker 23 (01:36:33):
This particular load, though, was coming out of Venezuela, was
supposed to be going up to Cuba, and that was
going to get transship from what I could tell, probably
over to China. But you know, I was bringing a
sanctioned oil out and the US stopped it, and it
had been linked to a number of other illegal maritime
activities and that was probably enough. And there's also a

(01:36:56):
report out that the individual that either owned the ship
or owns the cargo wasn't quite clear to me, is
linked to Maduro and another senior in Venezuelan officials. He's
showing up on a list as as someone who's been
targeted with sanctions, and of course you know Maduro and
his senior leadership are tied to Cartel de Solis, which

(01:37:19):
we have declared to be a terrorist organization. Hence you
see the connection to terrorism, not just terrorism coming out Iran,
but terrorism tied to the narco cartels, particularly the drug
cartels in Venezuela.

Speaker 3 (01:37:32):
So in nutshell here, we took the oil tanker because
it is smuggling embargoed oil Number one and number two.
We could because of our military presence. They are going
after rug boats. Seven teven. It's time to take a
look at your money.

Speaker 24 (01:37:47):
Good mornings, that a reserve delivered eight third ten secutive

That drove big games for stocks, with the Dow rising

Texas Republican Congressman Chip Roy.

Speaker 5 (01:40:24):
They're downplaying Jasmin Crockett's chances in next to your Senate race.
She's not the only unhinged member of the Texas Democrat
congressional delegation. Here's Al Green, who filed articles of impeachment
against President Trump yet again.

Speaker 28 (01:40:39):
He has conducted himself in office such that person as
are now threatening members of the Judiciary, threatening members of
the House of Representatives, threatening members of the Senate.

Speaker 5 (01:40:48):
And for the record, he's done this several times over
the years. It's never worked. That said, eight Texas Republicans
are not running for re election. Marjorie Taylor Green from
Georgia's retiring South Carolina's new Nancy Mace is running for governor,
and yesterday she blasted House GOP leadership for not getting
anything done while they held the majority.

Speaker 3 (01:41:08):
Well, they don't want to get anything done.

Speaker 29 (01:41:09):
I mean, I think that's a strategy moving forward into
the midterms.

Speaker 6 (01:41:13):
You still have a lot of Republicans who do not
like Trump.

Speaker 3 (01:41:15):
Who are moderate are the rhinos.

Speaker 29 (01:41:18):
We literally have four or five months to get something done,
and I don't think we're going to get a dog

Speaker 5 (01:41:22):
Republican strategist Matt Locke says there is a lot of
big money against the Trump agenda. Seven thirty four, Texas
Attorney General Ken Paxton is investigating about a thousand cities
across the state to ensure that they're in compliance with
property tax laws. He might want to start looking into
small towns and even mud districts as well.

Speaker 30 (01:41:42):
The attorney those office really wanted to maximize the resources
they would look at those because those financial records are
a lot easier to pass through than the thousand pages
you're going to get from the city of Houston or
Dallas or whatever else.

Speaker 6 (01:41:54):

Speaker 5 (01:41:56):

Speaker 32 (01:42:54):
Finally, next week we're going to get data on jobs.
We're going to get a November jobs reports, and then
we're also going to be getting the consumer price Index,
so that's going to give us some clues as to
more recent economic data.

Speaker 5 (01:43:07):
An He thinks the biggest factor will be whomever President
Trump selects as Powell's replacement. A result of rising prices
since COVID, the American dream of owning a home is
now a luxury.

Speaker 33 (01:43:19):
According to har dot com, a household income has to
earn just over ninety two thousand dollars for the media
and average Houston home costing three hundred and thirty seven
thousand dollars bank rates. Alex Gaily says roughly eighty six
percent of the homes on the market just aren't affordable, and.

Speaker 34 (01:43:36):
That's when homeownership starts to feel less like a typical
middle class milestone and more like.

Speaker 19 (01:43:41):

Needs, world events, national headlines. Houston's Morning News with Jimmy Barrett. Yeah,
remember there was a day we didn't have even have

ring and ring and ring, and if nobody picked up,

(01:45:26):
you didn't get to talk to anybody.

Speaker 3 (01:45:28):
That's how it worked back then. A lot of memories
about landlines is a kid. As an adult, I don't
think I've had a landline since. Let me think here now.
Our current house never had a landline. Our last three
houses before that never had landlines. It's been twenty plus years,
Well over twenty years, says I've had a landline. There

(01:45:51):
are some folks who still have them. The problem is
AT and T wants to get rid of them. You know,
they're too expensive to maintain, and AT and T doesn't
want to do that anymore, so they're on the way
of phasing them out. It'll get to the point where
you can't have a landline. Your landline just won't work anymore.
But in the meantime, do you still have a line line?
Do you know somebody that still has a landline? Why

(01:46:11):
are they hanging on to that landline? Good morning. This
is Jack from Connecticut.

Speaker 6 (01:46:16):
I haven't had a landline since I lived with my
mom over thirty years ago.

Speaker 3 (01:46:19):
Have a good day, guys, good naming all.

Speaker 47 (01:46:22):
This is Henry from Spring. I think a landline is
still very important because due to the power outage we
had in cell towers having no power, there were some
spots in Spring and the surrounding area where the cell
phones would not work. In case I'm an emergency, you're

(01:46:45):
gonna need a landline. Have a great day, Hey, Jimmy,
if I get Spring, I don't have a landline anymore.

Speaker 3 (01:46:53):
I haven't had one for quite some time.

Speaker 47 (01:46:55):
But I still remember my phone number late one three
five zero nine.

Speaker 3 (01:47:03):
I still remember my original phone number as a kid
in Michigan one hundred four eight two three eight nine.
I think something like that started with an HU. Remember
when they used to do that back in the day.
It started with letters, two letters, and then you go
into the numbers seven forty. Time for traffic and weather. Together,
we're checking out the drive again with the sky Mike.

(01:47:25):
All right, I got let me see who I've got.
I've got the iHeartRadio app here. I'm gonna get right

is that brother?

Speaker 1 (01:47:34):
Heray, Mike.

Speaker 3 (01:47:35):
There are two recks on the Hardy the northbound lane
about a mile north of the beltway. Spin out hit

Speaker 15 (01:47:44):
Southbound south of the Beltway about a quarter mile there's

Speaker 24 (01:47:49):
It just happened.

Speaker 3 (01:47:50):
There is nobody on the site. Yet everybody appears to

I don't know what you didn't do this?

Speaker 18 (01:49:09):
It is going to be cold love Sunday Monday, all right.
So today, today's a little bit cooler. Today's kind of
like the warm up, so to speak, for the cooler weather.
Temperatures today mid upper sixties. It's really quite nice for December.
Actually Tomorrow still sunny, still dry, getting much warmer though,

(01:49:30):
mid upper seventies. We start to get the rain Saturday
and forty percent chance of showers some thunder. We're in
the load of mid seventies Saturday, so it's still pleasant.
Sunday begins the downward hill. Thirty percent chance of some
rain Sunday morning. Highs on Sunday upper fifties to low sixties.

upper fifties Monday afternoon.

to talk with the pastor Dureaux. He's with Saint Jude
Children's Research Hospital. He kind of works here out of Houston,

(01:50:20):
so it's kind of interesting to get that perspective of
him being in Houston working with the folks in Memphis, Tennessee,
that kind of synergy and how all that works. We'll
talk to him next. I do want to remind you
that our Saint Jude Radiothon is being presented by Gallery
Furniture and we would love you to become a partner
and hope just cost nineteen bucks a month and to
help kids at Saint Jude fight cancer. This is where

(01:50:40):
kids who have exhausted the medical opportunities at the hospital.
They would normally go to the physicians they would normally see.
This is where the worst cases go. And these families
don't have to worry about spending money on anything, and
that is a burden that we like to We really
love being to help to take that burden away from families.
It's simple to make a donation. You can either call

eight hundred five eight eight fourteen thirty three. Or if
you prefer a text, that's great, just text the word

kt right man, I can't believe it's already that time
of the year.

Speaker 3 (01:52:29):
That's how that's how we mark time around here by
certain events that happened, and one of them is the
Saint Jude Radio bon and it it seems like we
were just doing it and here we are again. Pastor
giro joins us. He's based here in Houston, worked with
Saint Jude Tiln's Research Hospital. What's your title again, pastor?
Hang on? Here's his microphone? Please? All right?

Speaker 15 (01:52:50):
There you go?

Speaker 3 (01:52:51):
Okay, so up down, senior advisor. Hang on. That sounds
like a promotion. This is the last time I talked
to you.

Speaker 6 (01:52:56):
Well, they all are so just glad, glad to be
able to help out.

Speaker 3 (01:53:00):
Guess new title, same pay, same pastor's same pastor. That's
the most important thing. How important is something like this?
These fundraisers for Saint Jude that you pretty much, well
almost one hundred percent depend on these, don't you.

Speaker 6 (01:53:13):
That's right.

Speaker 22 (01:53:14):
So families never received a bill from Saint Jude for treatment, travel, housing,
our food, so that a family can just help their
child live, and so we want to help them to
focus on that. We want to take off the burden
because when you're sick with cancer, of course, it impacts everybody, right,
and so our families don't have to worry about that
they can be next to their child helping them get better.
And we can't do that without your listeners, without the

(01:53:35):
public helping us to keep the lights on and put
food on the table.

Speaker 3 (01:53:38):
You always loved the story about Saint Drede got started
with Danny Thomas. You know, he just kind of made
a little prayer. You know, Lord, I'm I'm trying to
get into this entertainment business. Help me along, and I will,
I will, I will give you a big payback. And
he certainly did, didn't he.

Speaker 22 (01:53:51):
And it's his first job was on the radio station
as a singing toothbrush. And Danny kept this promise. So
one guy made one promise and he kept it, and
that was in nineteen sixty to and from then we've
been able to treat over eighty five hundred active patients.

Speaker 3 (01:54:04):
I was going to say, how much has Saint Judgejildn's
rastart to hospital? How have things changed there since nineteen
sixty two? For one thing, a lot of cancer cures
and treatments have been bound, haven't they?

Speaker 22 (01:54:12):
Well, from twenty percent which was a survival rate when
the hospital first opened its doors, to eighty percent now
and the most common form of cancer. At Q, lymphoblastic
leukemia had a four percent survival rate. Today we're north
of ninety four percent. But you know what that means,
there's still six kids, six percent of kids that don't
survive the most common form of cancer, and that's not okay.

Speaker 3 (01:54:34):
And we wanted to mention that because that's that's in
addition to helping these families, that's where the money goes
that Saint Jude raises is under that research button. I
think Saint Jude Jolnes's Research Hospital has done more for
cancer treatments that I think any other hospital in the
entire country.

Speaker 22 (01:54:50):
Listen, the research part of our name is really important, right,
because our doctors are able to go from the lab
to bedside to help kids with the most unique with
the most common form of cancer. They're able to help
bring that survival rate up, and then we share that
research freely, right, not just here locally, but nationally in international.

Speaker 3 (01:55:08):
Yeah, it's pretty amazing what you folks do. Again, we
want to remind everybody that's where the money goes. Charity
Navigator has given you guys about as higher rating as
you could possibly get.

Speaker 6 (01:55:16):
That's right, and we loved the support of the public,
and we put those fonts to good use.

Speaker 3 (01:55:22):
Here's how you can donate. Call one eight hundred five
eight eight fourteen thirty three. That's eight hundred five eight
eight fourteen thirty three. Or text Kids Kids to six
two six two six two. You get a T shirt,
you get a Saint Jude hoodie. It's just nineteen dollars
a month. You can put it right on the credit card.
I've dropped the credit card every month. Simple easy. You'll
spend more on that on breakfast tomorrow morning. I guarantee it.

Speaker 22 (01:55:44):
You can make your donation in honor of the state
of the healthy kid in your life, because you never
know when it could happen to ninety of us.

Speaker 3 (01:55:50):
