(00:00):
Five twenty two. Now is ourtime here in Houston's morning News. Tom
Holman is an early riser. Thankgoodness for us that he is an early
riser. He joins us here thismorning, the former acting Ice director,
former police officers. Well, Tom, I know you've watched all weekend well
unfolded at that rally in Pennsylvania. What do you make of the attempt of
the Secret Service to protect the president? Was this a cataclysmic failure? Well,

(00:22):
look for a guy to get onthe roof of the rifle at a
high altitude of direct sight to thepresident. Yeah, that was a fail.
That was a fail. But asI said on the network several times
yesterday, the President's the President's securityteam is his detail. We're fabulous.

(00:45):
I've been on that stage many timesin the president I spoke on that podium,
and I know how things operate. And no one's on the stage for
the president at h in the stageor they're set of stairs and as usually
an agent or two at them oneach of those stairs, and there's agents
in the front of the stage. As soon as the shots rang out,

(01:07):
these agents got up those stairs, across that big stage and over the president
in a matter of two to threeseconds. I think we should give some
credit to Donald Trump too, becausehe took himself down. Yeah, that's
where he's That's where he's trained todo it. Yeah, he's trained to
do that. They tell him thatthere's there's security features in that body,
that body of travels with him. There are security features on stage that keep

(01:30):
him protected once he's down. Impressiveto me. Yeah, yeah, considering
the stress and you know the surprise, he did exactly what he's trained to
do. But I want to stresshis detail. Who I personally know many
of these men and women my firstname because I'm with him. Alack.
They did fabulous. They got overthat president's seconds. Then you know I

(01:51):
was getting you know. Then peoplesay, well it took too long to
get them off stage. Well, you got to understand, he just got
He just got jumped on by fouradult men sober one. We don't know
if President got wind ACKed out ofthem and you know a little bit of
shock. But then people don't understand. All these guys have your pieces on.
They're listening to command. I'm surethe incident commander's telling them stay down.

(02:14):
We're scanning for other shooters. Theywant to make sure there's no other
shooters for their move offest you canhear it. They don't know if they
don't know if they escaped cars inplace yet, I've got to pull that
in. So there's other things goingon. But I think I think that
his detail, his men and women, were fabulous. What about the assets
that the Trump hand paginn has beengiven. There's been a lot of talk
that they're training this like any otherformer president, like a Jimmy Carter,

(02:36):
for example, or a Barack Obama. They're not training it like they should
with a guy who's out and activeand it rallies with thirty forty fifty thousand
people or more. Where were thedrones? Where were the other assets technology
assets that the Sacred Service has forthe current president of the United States.
Why weren't some of those utilized forPresident Trump? That's a questions. When
we asked, I was actually talkingto Mark Greene, who's a chairman of

(02:59):
the Almost Scurity Oversight, which SecretService falls within. I was actually trading
with phone calls in yesterday. He'sactually going to run the investigation, and
he's asking us questions what exact accesswere available to President Trump? What should
you have more, what do youbase those number of assets on? What's
the criteria? So there's there's gonnabe a deep time of investigation on what

(03:21):
President Trump was, what he had, and what he should have had.
Can I ask you, do youknow that there that the snipers, the
counter snipers, they had the snipertrained in their size, They did not
fire until he fired? Were theyon a stand down? Do they have
to wait? Do these counter sniperswhen they see somebody with a gun,

(03:43):
can't they not just take that site, that target out or they have to
wait for the clearance to do this. No, they can take them out.
As far as my understanding, theproblem is again we gotta wait for
investigations come up. But the peopleI've talked to are there are claiming that
this the snipers, the Secret Servicepipers did not key on him until the

(04:04):
last minute. No one knew hewas there, you know, So you
know when you're sniper, when you'rewhen you're a Secret Service snipper, you're
up there scanning the area. Nowmaybe they took their eyes off that roof
are scanning the other roofs are scanningthe crowd. Who knows? But again
a fail right, uh? Mypersonal opinion during the during the when when

(04:25):
they first screened that entire area forthis rally, once they identified those high
points, it should have been secured. Once they realized, okay, everybody's
secured, everything has been screened,we're ready to go. So even local
law enforces, somebody should have beenon those buildings to make sure no one
climbs up and does anything. Thatwas a fail uh, And that's what's

(04:45):
gonna be investigated. Why was thatroof not monitor twenty four to seven?
Why was that roof not secured? And how do they not know that guy
climbed up you know, surveying scenethat reported it right before the shooting.
They sure that some of the rallygoerssaw him, and then they claim they
reported it but nobody was doing anythingabout it. Tom will have to leave
it at that for now, Butthank you, sir, appreciate your time

(05:08):
as always. Former acting Ice Director, former police officer Tom Homan
