Speaker 1 (00:00):
Yeah, Jeffrey Epstein's Story's not going away. Quite frankly, should
it go away? Sevent twenty two is her time here
in Houston's morning news. Evidently gas Laine or however they
pronounce their first name these days. Maxwell, Jeffrey Epstein's girlfriend
slash cohort slash whatever title I guess you want to
give her, is sitting in prison, willing to testify. There's

(00:23):
even been talk of a potential presidential pardon. At least
President Trump got asked about a potential presidential pardon in
return for her testimony. Gary Pollin joins us turning, an
editor of the Texas Conservative Review. What do you make
of this situation, Gary, Because it looks like there's a
lot of Republicans that are dragging their heels and the
idea of a more thorough investigation into Jeffrey Epstein. Why

(00:46):
do you think that is?

Speaker 2 (00:49):
I think there's lots of people are concerned about what
may be in the Epstein paperwork. But what's really interesting
here and when the Democrats were in charge as under Biden,
there was no request to release Epstein. Needs a big.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
Deal about it.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
None of the Democrats in Kiris pushed for it. Nothing
really happened, and in fact, miss Maxwell, who the Democrats
ended up putting into jail, was never asked to talk
about the case, never interviewed by the Justice Department. You
kind of wonder, what is going on here, and what
was going on here was is Of course, there were
rumors about major league Democrats that were involved with Epstein.

(01:29):
Bill Clinton being the primary example, had allegedly been to
the Epstein Island numerous times, so the Democrats didn't want
to do it. Now we're in the season where Trump
has done a lot of winning and they's been very
successful in his first six months in office, and the
Democrats are desperately looking for anything they can to try
to slow down Trump's momentum. And that's where it comes from.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
Okay, but don't they do that at their own peril, because,
as you said, Bill Clinton and probably a lot of
other prominent politicians, maybe there were a few Republicans Vault,
I don't know. I would think there are more Democrats
than Republicans involved. They stand to be as embarrassed or
more embarrassed than anybody else if there's a more thorough investigation.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
You're absolutely right, But that these politicians who were involved
are now retired, no longer in office, and maybe the
Democrats don't care. They are so desperate to attack Trump
they'll try to find anything. And look, my advice to
say if the President called me was to just release
everything everything legally you can release and get it out there,

(02:29):
and what it is is what it is, okay, and
we'll see what happens. But again, in what I really
think is going on here is an attempt to distract
and to cause the American people knew not focus on
real issues, to talk about a guy who's been dead
for what five six seven years?

Speaker 1 (02:46):
Is it?

Speaker 2 (02:46):
Come on?

Speaker 1 (02:47):
Yeah? Yeah, really she is.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
The country faces.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
Major league distraction underway. That's for definite sure. But as
I said, this has the potential to embarrass them is
much or more than anybody else. So careful for what
you wish for. Do you think do you think that
that President Trump would consider because I don't believe he
has anything to hide. Do you believe that President Trump

(03:11):
might consider a pardon for Maxwell in order in return
for her testimony?

Speaker 2 (03:18):
The way pardons are supposed to work is that you
make what they call a proffer, That is that she'll
put together a memo with her lawyer for the Justice
Department to review to see whether or not her testimony
has value, and if it does, they make the decision
based on the merits and not just saying I'll give
her a pardon just to give her a pardon. So

(03:38):
I think it's a possibility, yeah.

Speaker 1 (03:40):
In return for testimony and for naming names, especially if
there is no exactly, especially if there is no list
per se, which of course she's in prison. She's in jail,
just like Jeffrey Epstein was. Is she a potential target
for being willing potentially to come forward and testify.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
Well, that's interesting. You don't know, so we don't know
what we don't know, But we know that the Justice
Department spent a long time with her and her lawyer,
so there's probably a lot of information that was provided
and then you got to see where it goes. But
it's it's again, it's a distraction. We of the country
faces a whole lot of issues. Trump has an agenda
that he wants to advance as quickly as possible because

(04:20):
he understands how quickly your four years disappears and then
he's gone, and so as a conservative, I want to
see him get advance his conservative agenda. I don't think
that Jeffrey Epstein investigation does this anything again except to
be a distraction.

Speaker 1 (04:36):
Yeah, but I don't think it slows him down either,
because he doesn't let things slow him down. Gary, thank
you appreciate it.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
Yeah, attorney and the editor of the Texas Conservative View.
That's Gary polland it is seven twenty seven
