Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, So yesterday we were telling you about Harris
County's latest nefarious plan to institute a climate justice for
Harris County. It's just a great way to grab some
more tax dollars and to circumvent Texas laws, supposedly by
running some of this money through NGOs, non government organizations

(00:21):
to try to circumvent the law. Here to talk about
with us, Gary Polland we only have a couple of nuts. Gary,
So I apologize up front for the short time here.
But Gary's with the Texas Texas Conservative Review. Harris County
seems to be pretty proficient at coming up with these
scamming ideas, don't they.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
It's unbelievable. They keep coming up with new ways to
spend money they don't have. I mean, this plan proposes
a new greenhouse gas because our taxes aren't high enough,
promotes THEI, and recommends income based property taxes and rent controls.
You know, a property tax is already high enough. Commissioners
raised them last year and the appraisals went off, and

(00:59):
now they want to make it based on income. So
now it'll be a kind of an income tax. Not
only illegal, all improper. It's beyond belief.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
How can you even propose something that you know is illegal.
Let's the state property taxes, for instance. We know that
property taxes by definition are based on the value of
the property, have nothing to do with the income of
the property owner. How could you make that switch.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
My guess is they think they can go ahead and
do whatever they want and if the state officials and
other officials don't like it, they can sue. So they'll
go to court. So we'll spend money on legal fees.
Harris County will the state will to stop this brazen
power grab by the Democratic commissioner. So who people vote
for matters, Jimmy. These people are out of control.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
Absolutely. They're also despite state law. They're also promoting DEI
with some of these programs, and we have found that
that's true not only of certain agencies but also in
certain governments, but also you know corporations who basically they've
done away with the name diversity, equity inclusion and they're

(02:03):
coming up with belonging officers. This is our director of
the Director of Belonging. So nothing's changed but the name.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
Yeah, you could say, you can't make it out. But
the fact that the commissioners want to use nngos to
get their scheme going in all these areas that are
beyond their power under state law is really quite unbelievable.
But then if you look what happened nationally by the Democrats,
they used NGOs to advance their agendas because they can't
get it past legislatively. So that's what we're going to

(02:34):
end up with. This is really ridiculous. I mean, it's
not like Harris County is doing a great job and
everything it's supposed to do, is it?

Speaker 1 (02:42):
No? I mean, you know, all I really want Harris
County to do is to is maintain public safety in
the roads. Anything after that, anything after that, I would
consider a bonus.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
Yeah, Jeff, what they're not doing it? No? I know.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
So as you say, the elections, elections and lawsuits are
what we lef with, right, we have to either vote
them out or we are going to have to be
involved in court cases and we all are going to
end up paying for that.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
And to be a candid here, you and your station
do a great job of getting the word out to
citizens of what's really happening with government. There's not a
lot of people out there doing it well.

Speaker 1 (03:18):
The unfortunately we don't have everybody listening to us. I
wish we did so more people would know about what
up to yeap, Gary thank you has always appreciated Gary
