Speaker 1 (00:00):
Thanks twenty three our time a little bad blood right
now between Anise Parker and Lena Hildago. Gary Pollin joins
US Texas Conservative Review. I found what an Ease Parker
had to say about Lena Hildago to be refreshingly honest,
especially coming from a Democrat.

Speaker 3 (00:15):
What about you?

Speaker 2 (00:17):
Yes, an East Parker was candid about the comments of
our esteem county judge. What I found fascinating was this
is really not inter democratic. This is personal. Elena Hidalgo's
mad at Parker because she did not support her when
she ran for reelection. She's mad that she supported our
former district Attorney Kim Ogg, who was running for reelection

(00:39):
as a Democrat.

Speaker 3 (00:40):
So what's going on here? This continues to.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
Show us that Lena operates in a world that many
of us have never visited.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
And more importantly, Gary, a world that never most of
us would never want to visit.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
Well, absolutely, by what your characterization, one of the worst
county probably the worst county judge.

Speaker 3 (00:59):
In Harris County history. Look at the state of the.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
County under her leadership in Rodney Ellis that started eight
years ago and there we are today.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
It's pretty sad, well and here's the thing about Lena.
I don't think that Lena made any independent decisions. I
think Rodney made all the decisions. So we should probably
blame him equally for the state of Harris County because
he's the guy that's in charge.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
You're absolutely correct.

Speaker 2 (01:24):
You know, many people call him the puppet master, Lena
being the puppet.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
So let's take it to the next step then, because
Lena obviously is out of the picture. She's not running
for reelection. Brodney probably told her not to because she
wouldn't win. Because she wouldn't win, she couldn't even get
support from the majority of Democrats. I would think in
Harris County at this point of the field that's out there,
Rodney clearly is not likely to support Anas Parker, is he.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
I don't think so.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
I think he's probably least behind the scenes helping a man,
the plumber, who's the former city council woman who's running.
She's the other major candidate, Parker. This is interesting, you know,
from a political standpoint.

Speaker 3 (02:07):
What is better for Parker?

Speaker 2 (02:09):
Was it better that she's been criticized going into the
Democratic primary by a Democrat?

Speaker 3 (02:15):
Not necessarily? Is it better for it?

Speaker 2 (02:18):
Where if she's nominated, and it's going to be on
the ballot in November, where she may be able to
broaden her support and say, look, you know, the uber
leftist looney to part of the Democratic Party doesn't support me,
so I'm more of a moderate. So it's interesting how
she'll end up playing that.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
Yeah, well, as you said, she has a twofold problem.
The general election is one animal. But first of all,
you have to be be able to get the nomination,
and in order to be able to get the nomination,
she might have to appear to be a little bit
more liberal than what she already is.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
Oh, I don't think there's any question about that. And that,
and then you add to that the division the Democratic
Party between the establishment black politicians and in the gay.

Speaker 3 (03:00):
And lesbian politicians.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
They have fought on at least in courts on primaries
over and over again, so they are not unified.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
So it creates interesting.

Speaker 2 (03:09):
Situation and maybe creates an opportunity for whoever the Republican
nominee is. But of course we have a lot of
people running for it too, and that that race is
clearly going to be headed to a runoff on the
Republican side.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
So you don't see a clear favorite on the Republican
side either.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
There are those that are going to be well financed,
but the candidates running for Republican all of them have qualities.
They are quite impressive, and most of us have issues too,
like most candidates.

Speaker 3 (03:36):
I mean, look, they human beings.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
They're not perfect, but they have to run in the
atmosphere and being created nationally by President Trump. So if
I was running for candidate Jose's Republican, I'd be praying
the economy is perceived to be recovering next year.

Speaker 1 (03:52):
Well, here's the one thing I know for sure, Gary Poland,
and that is that any one of them is one
hundred percent better than Lena Hildago.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
There's no question. But remembered this, Jimmy very important. If
you don't have three votes on Commissioner's Court, Rodney Ellis
will still be running things.

Speaker 1 (04:06):
That's true, all right, Gary, thank you as always appreciate it.
Having a Merry Christmas from the Texas Conservative Review. That's
Gary Polland
