Also topping the news to day is the deadline in
Austin for the House to pass bills before the legislative
session ends on June second. A proposal requiring all county
sheriffs operating jails to enter into formal agreements with federal
immigration authorities did pass, but Joscelyn's Law, named after Joscelyn Nungerray,

(02:20):
which would deny build to some violent criminals, is stalled
in the House. Another key Conservative bill in danger of
dying is one an in state in state tuition for
illegal aliens.

Speaker 7 (02:32):
This dismantles one of the many incentive structures that help
drive illegal immigration into our state.

Speaker 6 (02:38):
Chris Russo with Texans for Strong Borders says there are
currently sixty thousand illegals enrolled in Texas colleges and universities. Meantime,
Governor Greg Abbott signed legislation yesterday to secure Texas elections.

One solution is to simply cut back on the I've.

Speaker 8 (02:55):
Just signed off on a joint resolution to make it
crysal clear under the Texas cos Institution that if you
are not a citizen of the United States of America,
you are not allowed to vote in Texas.

Speaker 6 (03:07):
I've been posting that on X five h three on KGRH.
Harris County Judge Alena Hidalgo dropped a bomb last week
when she said the county was facing a two hundred
and seventy million dollar budget deficit, but she didn't talk
about how we got here, and she didn't talk about
how we can fix it other than raise taxes.

Speaker 9 (03:28):
One solution is to simply cut back on the county's
discretionary spending.

Speaker 10 (03:31):
We got five hundred million dollars worth of issues we
can look at. We can choose not to spend money they.

Speaker 9 (03:39):
Are precing three Commissioner Tom Ramsey says cutting spending could
help us avoid another tax increase.

Speaker 10 (03:44):
We have a spending problem. We don't have a revenue problem.
We have raised taxes every year I've been on Commissioner's Court.

Speaker 9 (03:53):
Ramsey pointed specifically to the county administrator's office, which costs
twenty five million a year, as a good place to
start cutting Ethan Buchinnon Radio.

Speaker 6 (04:00):
Seven Ramsey joins Jimmy at seven twenty. The case to
decide whether or not County two Democrat Adrian Garcia must
vacate his seat is headed to an appeals court. Two
years ago, Garcia took a job with the Gulf Coast
Protection District that automatically removes him from his commissioner's seat,
but he's fighting that.

Speaker 11 (04:20):
The Garcia's initial appointment was actually illegal and he was
never actually appointed to the Gulf Coast the Protection District
despite him taking.

Speaker 12 (04:30):
Votes there, and she never resigns from the Commissioner's Court.

Speaker 6 (04:33):
Joseph Joseph Trimmer with Texas scorecard. The Appeals Court is
not yet set a start date. Another two inmates that
broke out of in New Orleans jail or back behind bars.
They were arrested after a high speed chase in Huntsville
that leaves two still at large.

Speaker 13 (04:48):
These people are going to be caught, that is a given.
The timing of that may change depending on if people
have left the closer area.

Speaker 6 (05:00):
Bland's police Chief Van Kirkpatrick five h five on ktrh.

Speaker 14 (05:04):
These warriors, and that's what they are as great, great
warriors picked up their mantle of duty and service, knowing
that to live for others meant always that they might
die for others. They knew that.

Speaker 6 (05:17):
President trumpet the Arlington National Cemetery remembering those that made
the ultimate sacrifice. Trump also announced a thirty day extension
on EU tariffs and called out Vladimir Putin for bombing
Ukraine while Trump is trying to broke or a ceasefire. Meantime,
more federal government fraud has been exposed with billions in
extravelant charges to federal credit cards.

Speaker 15 (05:40):
Iowa Senator Joni Ernst says she worked with those to
find massive fraud in government service credit cards.

Speaker 16 (05:46):
The federal government has four point six million active credit
cards and accounts. We have a little lesson half that
number in federal employees, so we're trying to figure out
where the.

Speaker 3 (05:59):
Heck all of the credit cards are.

Speaker 15 (06:01):
Ernstin bright Bart's Alex Marlow's show, she says the cards
were used at bars, nightclubs, casino ATMs, and to purchase
UFC fights on pay per view. It all added up
to sixty billion dollars in charges. Corey Jolson News Radio
seven forty KTRH, Thank.

Speaker 3 (06:15):
You, Corey.

Speaker 6 (06:15):
The Federal Trade Commission opens an investigation into Media Matters,
the pro left censorship organization that organized a boycott against
Elon Muskin X.

Speaker 17 (06:25):
The goal of Media Matters was to collude with other
platforms in an effort to dry up the advertising per X,
and obviously you dry up the ideas that are posted
on X because the platform will no longer exist.

Speaker 6 (06:38):
Jared would fill with the Conservative Republicans of Texas as
This is just another example of how the left prefers
to shut down the free exchange of thoughts five oh

Speaker 19 (06:57):

Speaker 6 (07:00):
It's in from Duck Dynasty at a Trump rally five
years ago. Unfortunately, he passed away this weekend from Alzheimer's
at the age of seventy nine. The Astros host the
Athletics tonight pregame at six on Sports Talk seven ninety
Game time at seven on seven ninety and KTRH. I'm
Cliff Saunders on Houston's News weather in traffic station News
Radio seven forty k TRH.

Speaker 20 (07:21):
There's a huge accident on the Parkway this morning.

Speaker 5 (07:23):
Another updates coming up here we go again, extremely heavy rainfall.

Speaker 3 (07:28):
Use radio seven KTRH. O The days of cutting grass,
about going at your house five oages our time. You're
in Houston's boring news. We're told believe it, but I
see it. But we're told this is a new trend.
The days of the perfect looking yard. You know, where
the grass is nice and green, there's no weeds. You know,

(07:53):
the the the lawnest perfectly manicured and cut and trimmed
are disappearing that people are opting instead to re wild
their yard. What does that mean? Rewilding your yard? It
means native plants growing in your yard. So if you know,

(08:20):
if a certain kind of grass that you have, like
let's say you've got bermuda grass is your yard is
it's not really native to Texas. So instead you would
just have natural grass and dandelions and weeds and whatever
else comes along with it. And why bother to cut

(08:43):
it right? Just make it look natural. No cutting the grass,
no fertilizing the grass, although I will say I don't
think too many of my neighbors actually fertilized like I do.
Fertilize and killed the weeds and all that kind of stuff.

Speaker 21 (09:00):
I like.

Speaker 3 (09:01):
I like my yard to look like a ballpark. I
like it to look like dik and Field. I want
to look beautiful. But I think I might be in
the minority on this one. May I have to ask
a question today on this one? Are you interested in
rewilding your yard? Just let it go all natural, don't
worry about watering it. You know, if it if it

(09:21):
burns out from the sun, it burns out from the sun.
I'll have to ask a question today on this one,
I think five ten time for traffic and weather together,
rewilding your yard, yes, Sky Mike, and I just want
Native Texas grasses.

Speaker 5 (09:35):
And you know, I have a lot of friends that
are kind of hippie five and I love them to death.
But come fine, all right, let's go. Uh, let's see
what we got on the East Freeway. I've got a
reported wreck here outbound East Freeway, outbound, not inbound at
the Beltway, that's reported. Don't hold your breath for a
camera shot on this. I know something's there. We will
know exactly the lane age, I think before the rest

(09:57):
of the media and everybody else. So here we go
seven one three two one two. Tips. If you've got
the Iart radio app, it's so fun to click that
little talk pack thing, you know what, Jimmy, that's just
like it feels like getting a Valentine when somebody sends
us a talkback on the iHeart radio app. And then inbound,
we just cleared something right past the truck stops, right
past River Road on the inbound that's out of the way.

Speaker 3 (10:19):
There's a bit of a smudge coming in from the
River bridge.

Speaker 5 (10:22):
Ip Skymike in the USA RV Resorts dot.

Speaker 3 (10:25):
Com traffic center. Right, Daria has the day off Ken
Boone at the KTRH Top Tanks Defenders twenty four hour
weather Center. She has a way disappearing when the weather
gets bad. Carson, if she really is always got substitute host. Well,
the weather turns bad, what's up with that?

Speaker 21 (10:39):
Yeah, I know it's in a bad spot.

Speaker 3 (10:42):
Yeah, and you're still telling us all about the rain, Ken.

Speaker 21 (10:45):
That's right, and it is a rainy morning out there.

Speaker 22 (10:48):
As we get things started to probably be the seven
o'clock hour, close to eight before I think it totally
clears the area, and then we'll start to see the
clouds decrease and a little sunshine will mix in into
and through this afternoon all the way up to close
to this afternoon. Slight chance about a thirty percent chance
to see a shower storm as we head through the
afternoon into tonight.

Speaker 21 (11:06):
Temperatures tonight into the middle part of the seventies.

Speaker 22 (11:08):
Better chances for showers and storms, though as we get
into Wednesday and Thursday, best chance the most numerous will
be through the afternoon at evening hours, high temperatures in
the middle to upper eighties, and then as we get
into Friday in the weekend, kind of a drier trend
of the weather. Not going to totally remove rain from
the forecast, but just a slight chance to see those
pop up late day storms. As we get into Friday
in the weekend, high temperatures will be in that upper.

Speaker 3 (11:28):
Eighties range right now, sixty eight at your officials severe
weather station News radio seven to forty KGRH. Yeah, you
don't want to progress. I guess you get some cheap right.
Five nineteen is our time here in Houston's War News.
All Right, question of the day. I realized we're just
getting back from a long weekend here, but this is
an easy one. It has to do with the story
I just shared with you about eight minutes ago about

(11:48):
rewilding your yard. The latest excuse for not cutting or watering,
or fertilizing or mowing is to rear wild your yard.
I'm just gonna let it go natural. The EPA says
it's better if I just let it go natural. If
not natural, have berbuta grass. So I'm just gonna let

(12:09):
go All Texas, So my question is are you interested
in rewounding your yard? And my question also is how
far did you go to make your yard look nice?
Do you fertilize it? Do you do you have it
on a sprinkler system? Now I realize, if you're like
on ten acres of land or something, you're probably only

(12:31):
taking care of the grass right around the house, right.
I don't expect I wouldn't expect people to go out
and just mow randomly mode ten acres of property, you know,
for no good reason other than you know, cutting down
the grass. So I'd be very curious what you say
about this. You go to the iHeartRadio app ktr H,
put a number one in your preset if you'd be
so kind so you can get there in a hurry,

(12:52):
hit the talk back button. You get thirty seconds. First
aim where you're calling from and how far you go
to make your long look good? Hood? Or are you
just interested in just letting it go? I'm not really
I don't care about fertilizing, I don't care about watering.
Whatever happens happens there you go. Maybe you'd like the
turf of your yard. My wife keeps trying to talk
me into putting turf in the backyard. I don't want

(13:13):
artificial trip I want grass. By twenty time for traffic
and weather's to get idea. Only if I had the
putting green, no, I would want to put like an
oiler's in zone. Let's go to the hard pass seven
two tips.

Speaker 23 (13:26):
Dude, Thanks Doot Mike.

Speaker 3 (13:27):
This is Rodney found the hard working east Side. Well
said that way. It's clear from two two five all
the way around south to fifty nine. But there's a
lot of ponding.

Speaker 5 (13:39):
Oh, I would watch out one more reason to stay
out of that left lane this morning. Yeap, ponding all
over the place. Rains are part of our traffic. Let's
come in from the sticks morning.

Speaker 21 (13:48):
It's a stuff from New Caney.

Speaker 23 (13:49):
Dude, sitting in a parking lot on southbound east six
fifty nine Freeway, Will Clayton.

Speaker 24 (13:55):
We're moving about two miles an hour.

Speaker 3 (13:56):
It's that all right, uh, I see that so much.

Speaker 5 (13:59):
Southbound vacations are still kind of happening. So don't hold
your breath for camera shots this morning. If you could
safely send me a picture, do that and I'll send
it to the ladies on TV. I see the backup
now from nineteen sixty. Let's try to get some laneage
at the five thirty in the USA, Rvresorts dot Com traffic.

Speaker 3 (14:15):
Center from r KTRH Tom Tax Defenders twenty four Our
weather center kim boone says, mourning thunderstorms today, high temperature
right about eighty seven. Then we're looking at mourning thunderstorms
and the chance of scattered storms in the afternoon tomorrow
and the high temperature of eighty three. Gotten quite a
bit of rain so far. We'll try to check that
range gauge see who's getting the worst of all this.
When we talked to him again here in about twenty minutes.

(14:37):
Temperature right now sixty eight. At your official severe weather station,
News Radio seven forty KGRH. We're checking out some of
our top stories on a Tuesday morning, day after Memorial Day.
Here's clip. Thank you, Jimmy.

Speaker 6 (14:49):
We're sponsored by D and M Auto Leasing. Centerpoint is
making progress in those power outages. We are now down
to eighty seven thousand customers out. At one point it
was near two hundred thousand. D says they have leads
but no arrest yet after a man shot and killed
another man on a metro bus late last week. And
here's a warning tomorrow if you start booking on Southwest

(15:09):
airlines they're gonna start charging for bags.

Speaker 3 (15:12):
Thirty five bucks for the first bag. Yuck.

Speaker 6 (15:16):
That's the only reason to fly them. At the latest
news anytime at KTRH dot com. Our next update is
at five thirty.

Speaker 3 (15:22):
From the Sugarland area, Javi Airport area.

Speaker 4 (15:24):
You're reliable forecast next on the ten on seven forty KTRH.

Speaker 3 (15:32):
That's not much of a fight song, is it? Five
twenty three? Is that time here in Houston's wanting news?
All right? Harvard University fighting back against President Trump, who's
just saying, hey, quit being anti semitic. Oh, you won't
quit being anti semitic? Okay, Then we're going to withhold
billions of dollars in aid. In fact, I think I'll

(15:53):
give it to trade schools. Now, what a great idea
that is. Harvard doesn't need our money. The other thing
that the President could do would be to take away
their tax exempt status that they need. That would get
their that would definitely get their attention. But anyway, here
is President Trump over the weekend threatening Harvard further, Harvard

(16:17):
continuing to say they're going to fight back, and of
course some analysis on all of this as well.

Speaker 25 (16:22):
Billions of dollars has been paid to Harvard.

Speaker 19 (16:26):
How ridiculous is that billions?

Speaker 25 (16:28):
And they have fifty two billion dollars as an endowment.
They have fifty two billion dollars and this country's paying
billions and billions of dollars and then give student loans
and have to pay back their loans. So Harvard's going
to have to change his ways.

Speaker 26 (16:43):
So, Juliet, now the president is talking about diverting three
billion dollars in grant money to trade schools, which is
an interesting idea in and of itself. However, I'm just
wondering is that under the purview of the office or
is it something that Congers takes care of.

Speaker 27 (17:02):
Well, I think we'll find that out.

Speaker 3 (17:03):
I think once again, this goes to the.

Speaker 28 (17:05):
Question about, you know, the legality of all of these moves,
and we haven't really been in a situation like this
where you have a president sort of trying to divert
these funds. We have remembered that Harvard is of course
a private university. So that's where I think we have
a lot of gray area here. But politically, I think
that move by the president, or the call for him
to at least, you know, call on diverting those funds.

(17:28):
Is very interesting because we have seen, you know, the
student loan debate really raging on here in the United States,
and those who are against that mass student loan debt
relief argue that, you know, trade schools are very good
alternative for a lot of you know, people looking to
get a higher education. And you have President Trump also,
I think with this sending a political message to his

(17:51):
own base, you know, not all of his base, but
he has a very strong blue collar base in the
number of these swing states and across the country, many
of whom have gone to trade schools and may look
at elite institutions like Harvard as being completely foreign. So
I thought that was an interesting message from the president.

Speaker 3 (18:09):
That is Julia Manchester, by the way, she is a
political reporter at the Hill, I thought, very interesting. Here
here's another one gen zers. Forty two percent of gen zers,
they did a little poll here, forty two percent of
gen Zers say that instead of going to college, they're
going to get training in the trades, you know, plumbing, electrical,

(18:30):
all those types of things, because they're concerned that their
jobs would be eliminated by artificial intelligence. They're worried about
AI eliminating the jobs that they were seeking. Therefore, they're
interested in jobs less likely to be impacted by AI,
and that would be the trades. Five twenty six. Time
to take a look at your money. Good morning to you,

(18:51):
Jeff Bellinger and Jimmy, Good morning to you.

Speaker 29 (18:54):
President Trump may have helped to set the stage for
a Wall Street rebound when the markets reopen after the
law hold the day weekend. The President said he would
hold off on new European Union tariffs until July ninth.
Stocks moved lower on Friday after the tariffs were first announced.
Losses for the major averages range from two thirds percent
to one percent, but the futures are higher right across

(19:16):
the board this morning now futures up five hundred and
seventy eight points. I'm Jeff Bellinger, Bloomberg Business on News
Radio seven forty KTRH.

Speaker 19 (19:28):
You are no Houston's News.

Speaker 30 (19:30):
Why there are traffic plus breaking news twenty four to seventh.
This is News Radio seven forty KTRH fived everywhere with the.

Speaker 4 (19:38):
I more of what's happening now from the Sean Morris
Services Studios.

Speaker 3 (19:44):
It is five thirty now here in Houston's morning News.
I'm Jimmy Barrett. Among our top stories this hour. At
least two Republican senators do not support the Big Beautiful bill.
What's the real threat to our democracy? And coming up
at five thirty eight, trying to save money at the
grocery store, then stop buying these items. Details in the minutes.
Say head, you're in Houston's morning news for you. First,

(20:06):
let's check out the morning ride with sky Mike. All right,
let's go East Freeway. We clear.

Speaker 5 (20:10):
This is what's gonna happen this morning, folks. We're just
gonna have this spattering of accidents and before we can
really get lane laneage, they're gonna be clear.

Speaker 3 (20:17):
Ninjas are all over the place. We got it. Ten
East Freeway clear.

Speaker 5 (20:20):
The wreck outbound on the belt, uh clear, the wreck
inbound pass, the truck stops, those are gone. We're a
little thick now on the inbound right before Delldale, which
is fun to say, little tough to get by. You
got ponding all over the place. You've got two ninety
something's up.

Speaker 23 (20:34):
Hey, goy, Mike.

Speaker 29 (20:35):
DJ Thomas coming in on two ninety.

Speaker 5 (20:37):
I can't stop this feeling that way through the red
and white life linking in the toolway Julian.

Speaker 23 (20:43):
Hey guy, Mike.

Speaker 2 (20:44):
DJ Thomas coming in on two nineties.

Speaker 24 (20:46):
Hey guy Mike, there's a car truck turned around on
to ninety fifth before that way.

Speaker 5 (20:52):
E Ah, that's what it is. I'm in the USA
RV Resorts dot Com traffic center.

Speaker 3 (20:56):
That one guy say, BJ Thomas, Is that like J
Thomas he did looking drops? Okay? I thought that's what
he was doing with that. Okay. From our KTRH Generator Supercenter,
twenty four hour weather center for today morning, thunderstorms with
a high temperature right about eighty seven. We'll get the
complete forecast from Ken Boone. He's in for Terry today
at the Weather Channel. We'll talk to him in eight minutes.
Right now, current temperature is sixty eight at your official

(21:20):
severe weather station, News Radio seven forty KTRH. It's time
now for the news. Here's Cluff Saunders.

Speaker 6 (21:26):
Thank you, Jimmy five thirty two on KTRH top story
this hour. Center point still working to get the power
back for some eighty seven thousand customers. That number, though
is down from where we were overnight at one hundred
and eighty thousand, so we'll keep an update on that
for you this morning. Also topping the news, the Trump
agenda facing more Republican opposition in the US Senate. At

(21:48):
least two Republicans, Wisconsin's Ron Johnson and Kentucky's Rand Paul,
are questioning what Trump's Big Beautiful Bill will do to
the deficit.

Speaker 31 (21:57):
What I think Rand is missing on this one is
the fact that we are quite serious about this. This
is the biggest spending cuts in and in more than
thirty years.

Speaker 6 (22:07):
House Speaker Mike Johnson on Fox News Sunday that said,
the President's Big Beautiful Bill has something for everyone, including
Texas farmers.

Speaker 32 (22:15):
Texas farmers are cheering Congress's approval of the Tax and
Spending Plan, which includes more money for farm safety net programs.

Speaker 33 (22:23):
This is an important step to assure the viability of
American agriculture going forward.

Speaker 32 (22:28):
Gary Joyner with the Texas Farm Bureau says that safety
Net provides financial protection against losses due to natural disasters
like drought and floods. He says that helps them stay
in business and continue to produce healthy food. It's something
they wanted in the Farm Bill, which is still delayed
over food stamp funding. I'm Beth Myers News Radio seven
forty KTR it's.

Speaker 3 (22:49):
Now five point thirty three.

Speaker 6 (22:51):
President Trump, in the meantime, is not happy with Russia's
Vladimir Putin.

Speaker 34 (22:54):
I don't know what the hell happened to Putin. I've
known them a long time, always gotten along with him.
But he's sending rockets into cities and killing people, and
I don't like it at all.

Speaker 6 (23:05):
Okay, especially while the Trump administration is trying to brokerr
a ceasefire in the region. Here at home, Trump is
delivering on his campaign promises and at the same time
exposing the truth threat to democracy.

Speaker 3 (23:19):
And that would be the Democrats.

Speaker 35 (23:21):
All they've got is obstruction. All they've got is Trump
is a liar. All they can do is try to
slow down and block the Trump agenda.

Speaker 3 (23:29):
They got nothing.

Speaker 36 (23:30):
And that is Andrea Whidberg, editor and American thinker.

Speaker 35 (23:34):
Rather than serving the American people, this is the essence
of totalitarianism. When the government turns on the.

Speaker 36 (23:41):
People with COVID, the Biden cover up, the border censorship,
and the Trump attacks, She says, the Dems are the
real threat to democracy.

Speaker 3 (23:51):
Jeff Biggs New th Radio seven forty k t E.

Speaker 6 (23:54):
And then there are more calls to primary the Rhinos
in Congress next year. Columnist Kirch at least there has
singled out Texas Senator John Cornyn, who's been challenged by
state Attorney General Ken Paxton. He says, the Dems of
nobody they can run themselves.

Speaker 37 (24:09):
Well, they're gonna do three time loser beto. I don't
see a great opponent who can really cross over and
made people saying he won't be so bad. I think
they'll stick with Kenny Paxton. That's why I think it's
time to take a risk.

Speaker 19 (24:22):
Roll those dice.

Speaker 6 (24:23):
He says, Cornyn has failed five point thirty five Now,
the conservative movement continues to grow thanks to the addition
of young conservative men and women, a trend that does
not show any signs of slowing down.

Speaker 12 (24:36):
Conservatives are building a certain environment where you get those
rich social experiences that everyone's been craving for years, and
I don't see that happening on the left anymore.

Speaker 6 (24:48):
Political strategist Nick Liquist, by the way, that movement is
being called make America hot again.

Speaker 3 (24:54):
According to The Wall Street Journal.

Speaker 6 (24:56):
The Markets, by the way, love Trump's announcement over the
weekend to delay tariff on the EU by thirty days.
Now futures are up five hundred and sixty seven points
this morning.

Speaker 3 (25:06):
Now, with all the media fear mongering over.

Speaker 6 (25:09):
Tariffs, there's a new survey that says small businesses are
going strong, especially here in Houston.

Speaker 38 (25:16):
The new study by Chase fines in the Houston area
in particular, fifty six percent of small businesses say they
are in growth mode.

Speaker 39 (25:23):
In the state of Texas, small businesses have the best
policy environment to encourage formation and success in the country.

Speaker 3 (25:30):
And even with tariffs.

Speaker 38 (25:31):
Glenn Hammer, with a Texas Association of Businesses, points that
the Trump administration's push for farer trade.

Speaker 39 (25:36):
Texas wins with trade, and we're going to have more
opportunities to sell semiconductors the other goods and services that
have made us the export powerhouse of America.

Speaker 38 (25:46):
Hammer says this series legislative session will create new opportunities
for growth. Charles Mallin on news radio seven forty KTRH,
we're getting.

Speaker 6 (25:54):
Mixed signals about remote work these days. According to Gallup,
remote workers have higher levels of loneliness while at the
same time claiming to be more engaged with their jobs.
On Star College, economist Saint Louis says the answer may
be more hybrid work.

Speaker 40 (26:09):
I wouldn't think that if the executives could sign a
way to allow more hybrid work a compromise that would
be probably the most idea for a worker satisfaction as
well as productivity for the business, because that's where the
bottom line.

Speaker 6 (26:20):
Here's your reminder that COVID was five years ago. By

Now, the other thing that's really mad to about the
grocery store is how they can make one hundred dollars
disappear boom, just like that. It's like magic. Where did
that one hundred dollars bill go? Gone? Only bought ten things.
So another story about the things we waste money on
at the grocery store. I just shared it with you.

(27:14):
I'll let you decide for yourself. What is a waste
of money and what isn't. This is from the Wall
Street Journal. Number one brand name frozen foods. Brand name
frozen meals might seem appealing for the convenience, but they
often come with a hefty price tag. You might find
the store brand option taste just as good at a
fraction of the cost. A lot of prepared foods probably

(27:36):
make this list. Pre cut fruits and vegetables. You've heard
that one before, right, can't you cut it yourself? Yeah,
but it's already been done for me. Number three on
the list bottled water as a waste. Get a little
filtration device for your tap water at home, and you know,
chuck the bottled water. Number fourt gourmet ice cream. Why

(28:00):
would we picking on gourmet ice cream? Well, store bought
well Bluebells. Store bought is the best as far as
store bought ice cream. But every now and again, don't
you like to splurge on you know something, maybe a
little hogin'das for change. Organic snacks made the list. Branded spices.
Where you're shopping for spices, it's tempting to reach for

(28:21):
popular brand names. The truth is store brand spices usually
offer the same flavor and qualities of fraction of the cost. Yeah,
but what about the cinnamon. I want to know where
that's coming from. You know, we've heard all these lead
poisoning or something in cinnamon. I don't know. We don't
buy a lot of cinnamon. Number seven prepackaged salads. You
know there's a big markup on those. Just get some

(28:43):
lettuce and some other things that make it yourself. Number
eight singles served coffee pods costs far more than regular
coffee does. Name brand cleaning supplies same thing you're paying
for the brand name. And Number ten individual yogurt ups.
Replace those things and you might save yourself at least

(29:04):
a little bit of money. Five forty Time for traffic
and weather together as we check in again to sky Mike.

Speaker 5 (29:09):
Let's check your belts and loops. First, we'll go to
High forty five though north Freeway. This just dropped outbound
before cross timbers. That's a sticky spot for a stalled vehicle,
and it looks like they may take a second right
lane in the next few minutes. This is outbound, not inbound.
We are thick from the Shepherd Curve in Now South Sam.
I've got something working. This is gonna be the South

(29:29):
Sam at Old Galveston Road. They just ninja that while
I'm talking about it, so it's clear the backup was
never a big deal. East Sam southbound at two twenty five.
This is gonna happen all day. When it rains like this,
you get all these spinouts. People run into a wall.
They're minor wrecks and ninjas right there, and it's gone
by the time you know about it. In some cases
you also have a Katie Freeway. No, this is the

(29:51):
west Loop northbound after Old Katie Road. I'm looking for
the Katie Freeway. Got a wreck here on the right
side Frank Passatina.

Speaker 22 (29:58):
Bail met found on the south belve the exit ran
Go Freeway.

Speaker 23 (30:04):
Please have it shut off?

Speaker 5 (30:05):
Uh, what's going on that? Coming out of Scarborough? Lookout
south side Larry. The ladies love the way he talks.

Speaker 41 (30:11):
Hey morning, sky Mike Ken heading way that first deck
that I think telephone to the hots under a few
overpots that they the tracted trial of that's gone sidewise

Speaker 5 (30:24):
All right, got you right there. You know what Jimmy
I speak. I speak Southside, Larry Jive. This is south
Loop going westbound, just past telephone. That's going to be
a stalled eighteen wheeler. Let me let the ladies on
TV know about that. I'm in the Generator Supercenter dot
Com Traffic Center from r ktr H Generator Supercenter, twenty
four hour Weather Center.

Speaker 3 (30:44):
Can boone in for terry today. Still raining out there.
Ken a couple more hours before we get this out
of here?

Speaker 22 (30:49):
Yeah, I think so, about another one to two hours
before I think get totally clears the area. Then we
might actually see the clouds break up some in the
little sunshine mixed in as we head into the afternoon hour.
Still about a thirty maybe forty per sent chance to
see a storm as we head through the late afternoon
at evening hours and into tonight. Temperatures this afternoon approaching
ninety will be in the mid seventies. Tonight showers and

(31:10):
storms expected Wednesday Thursday. Best chance will be most numerous
through the afternoon at evening hours both days, high temperatures
in the middle new upper eighties, and then we'll start
to see those rain chances drop as we head into Friday.
In the weekend, mix the clouds and sunshine. Just a
slight chance for mainly late day storms for Friday in
the weekend. High temperatures middle new upper eighties Friday Saturday
could be up around the ninety degree mark on Sunday.

Speaker 3 (31:31):
Right now, sixty eight at your official severe weather station,

Speaker 6 (31:38):

Speaker 3 (31:38):
Question today today, It has to do with rewilding your yard.
Are you interested in rewilding your yard? Just let it go?
You know, leg goes. Your homeowners association might have something
to say about it, but you can just I'm just
rewilding it. I'm just going all natural here. Are you
interested in rewilding your yard? You no more watering, no

(31:59):
more fertile, no more bermuda grass or whatever other kind
of grass that is not necessarily native to Texas that
might be growing there. Are you interested in that? Or
do you want? Are you like me Nonna, I'm gonna
cut it, I'm gonna water it, I'm gonna make it
look really pretty.

Speaker 42 (32:12):
Good morning, guys. This is Carlos from Porter Texas. That
whole rewilding the yard thing just sounds like people being
lazy and not actually.

Speaker 18 (32:21):
Wanting a mother yard.

Speaker 2 (32:23):
Me.

Speaker 3 (32:23):
I like a well.

Speaker 42 (32:24):

Speaker 21 (32:25):
So I'm along with you guys.

Speaker 3 (32:27):
Good morning.

Speaker 43 (32:28):
This is with I have seven lots of weeds that
I have to cut every week with a push more.
If I had the money, i'd asphalt the whole thing.

Speaker 44 (32:38):
The wife grew up in West Texas. All she wants
is green, green grass and nice pretty trees. And she
gets green, green grass and nice pretty trees.

Speaker 18 (32:48):
Hey, this is billy mom, and I don't grow it.
I don't cut it, but I might smoke it. And
weeds in my yard?

Speaker 3 (32:58):
What kind of weeds you got in your yard? Are
those native to Texas? Anyway you can answer the question,
you go the i Heeart radio app KTRH. Hit the
talkback button. Yeah, first, put as number one on your
pre set, if you'd be so kind so you can
get there quickly. Then hit the talkback button. You get
up to thirty seconds. First, name where you're calling from,
and what kind of yard do you like? Well, mannick,

(33:19):
you want to rewild it if you could, or do
you want to? You know, you want to take care
of it, make it look really pretty like the wife
wants you know lots of trees and green green grass
because she grew up in West Texas. Just go to
the iHeart radio app and answer our question of the day.
All right, time for traffic and what they're together.

Speaker 3 (33:53):

Speaker 23 (33:54):
Dude, got my Highway six entrance. Two eighteen wheelers on
the shoulder right at the end tramp.

Speaker 5 (34:00):
All right, that's the Southwest Freeway. The pretty ladies on
TV are buzzing me here saying nothing good's happening there,
so we'll have to keep zooming that.

Speaker 23 (34:07):

Speaker 24 (34:09):

We're tracking more power outages this morning. Eighty five thousand
plus customers for Centerpoint are still in the dark. The
number was one hundred and eighty one thousand and one
point Thanks to DOE, Social Security officially removes twelve point
three million people from its roles that they listed as
being the age of one hundred and twenty years old
or even older than that, and because of the shortage.

Speaker 3 (35:45):
So time here in Houston's morning news. What's some good
news for change about the military and military recruiting? What
a difference? You know? How far is thent Trump semi joke?
That turns out we didn't need any new laws to
curtail a legal immigration which we just needed a new president.
Evidently we didn't need any new incentives for the military.

(36:09):
We just again needed a new president, somebody who people
felt confident were not going to expose their kids to
a woke military, felt confident We're not going to get
involved in a useless war or war we had no
intention of winning. At least that's the opinion of former

(36:30):
US Marine Joey Jones, who's also a contributor and commentator
on Fox. Here he is talking about the fortunes that
have changed with the US military, and I think one
of the Navy commanders is in this cut as well.

Speaker 46 (36:40):
You know, I have a little bit different take on this,
and I think most people talk about a lot of
people directly connect the sense of patriotism that a president
from the right brings, the idea that generally Republican presidents
support the military more, and certainly the woke topics that
have plagued everything from our service academies.

Speaker 3 (36:56):
Now to boot camp and units. All of those matter
in this. I used to have people come up to me.

Speaker 46 (37:01):
And say, I don't know if I want to send
my kid into this military, and I'd say, well, if
you don't, we leave it to them, like we have
to fight for it and keep it. But what I
think is driving the recruitment now more than anything is
a president and a secuary defense that has said openly
and honestly they don't intend to start new wars and
if we go to war, we go to it to win.

Speaker 3 (37:20):
And I think those two things.

Speaker 46 (37:21):
Are a start contrast from the last twenty years in
my opinion.

Speaker 47 (37:24):
Then why are we going out of our way to
try to stop Israel from winning an award that they
were inflicted with The Hamas starts it. But the whole
world wants Israel to back off. I want you to
hear what Admiral Daryl Clodell told us. He's the US
Fleet Forces commander. He was on Fox and Friends about
the state of the military.

Speaker 3 (37:42):
He's been tremendous. Our recruiting numbers are up.

Speaker 48 (37:44):
We have recruited four thousand more sailors already this year
than we did last year, which was already a banner year.
So I think recruitment se pretensions at an all time high.
And so we got this juggernault of Navy potential here.

Speaker 3 (37:59):
Well the Armies. Same story in the Army. In twenty
twenty two of the Army was fifteen thousand people short
of making their listming goal of sixty thousand. This year,
I think they've already met their enlistment goal. We're only
we're only into uh, you know, May at this point.

Thank you, Jimmy eighty six oh one on KTRH. We
are sponsored by all Star Construction. Our top story this
hour storm damage. We are hearing about reports of a
tree crashing into a house in northwest Harris County due
to last night's storm. Still working to find out if
there were any injuries involved in that. Center Point at
one point had one hundred and eighty one thousand customers

(40:26):
without power. This morning, they have worked that number down
to over eighty four thousand at this point. Also topping
the news, the deadline for the Texas House to pass
bills before the legislative session ends.

Speaker 3 (40:39):
June second is today.

Speaker 6 (40:41):
The Senate gave initial approval to a bill yesterday preventing
counties like Harris from holding gun buyback events. But Joscelyn's Law,
named after the murdered Houston girl Joscelyn Nungerray, denying bail
to some violent criminals, has been stalled in the House,
and there is another immigration bill that's stuck in the
pipeline as of this morning.

Speaker 49 (41:02):
One bill which was touted as a priority is dying
on the vine. Republicans want to end in state tuition
for illegal immigrants.

Speaker 7 (41:10):
This is not a fringe position, is a mainstream, majority
held view among Texans.

Speaker 49 (41:14):
That's Chris Russo with the group Texans for Strong Borders.
There are about sixty thousand Dreamers enrolled in Texas schools.
They were brought across the border as children and given
legal protection by the Obama administration. If they're forced to
pay out of state rates, it would bring in millions
of dollars. Rex So it's News Radio seven forty KTR eight.

Speaker 3 (41:33):

Speaker 6 (41:34):
Lawmakers in the House did manage to pass a bill

Speaker 3 (41:47):

Speaker 6 (41:48):
Harris County faces a two hundred and seventy million dollars
budget deficit, and that's got Judge Lena Hidalgo talking about
jacking up your taxes again. But the long Republican on

taxes if she just stopped spending.

Speaker 3 (42:04):
Trips to Paris. That's on the table.

Speaker 10 (42:06):
The County administrator's office is twenty five million.

Speaker 3 (42:09):
That's on the table.

Speaker 10 (42:10):
The Department of Economic Equity and Opportunity that's ten million.

Speaker 6 (42:15):

in the budget. When it's vetted, he's confident they can
create a balanced budget for the next fiscal year. He'll

Speaker 3 (42:27):
A story we reported on earlier this year.

Speaker 6 (42:29):
Precinct True Democrat Commissioner Adrian Garcia is in the middle
of a legal battle over whether or not he actually
has to give up his seat on the court.

Speaker 36 (42:39):
That's because Garcia accepted another position with the Gulf Coast
Protection District and that is not legal.

Speaker 11 (42:46):
The two officers may not luckily be out simultaneously. A
vacancy in the first office occurs.

Speaker 36 (42:52):
Joseph Trimmer with the Texas Scorecard. Now the case is
heading to an appeals court.

Speaker 11 (42:57):
The court said that the elect jurisdiction and what is
moving now is that plaintiffs are moving to a field,
but there's no date.

Speaker 36 (43:05):
The planeffs want the court to acknowledge the vacancy and
then call a special election.

Speaker 6 (44:05):
Also this weekend, Trump blasted Vladimir Putin for continued bombing
in Ukraine and says there's progress being made in the
talks with Ron. Federal government employees have been living large
via charge on your tax dollars. Iowa Senator Joe only
Ernst tells Breitbart that she's discovered billions and fragile and
charges to government credit cards.

Speaker 51 (44:27):
They're used to New Year's Eve, nightclubs, bars, Yeah, Sunday afternoons,

Speaker 4 (45:35):
The very latest on your way to work. This is
Houston's Morning News with Jimmy Barrett.

Speaker 3 (45:44):
Speaking of Texas time. Did you see this? I didn't
even notice this. I'm so used to seeing permanent daylight
saving time, or just doing away with daylight saving time,
just leaving the time alone, regardless of what time we pick,
leaving it alone. I'm so used to seeing this thing
fail in the Texas State legislature. I didn't even think

(46:05):
to watch it this year. Guess what. It passed both
the House and the Senate. It's going to Governor Abbott's
desk designed Now, what I don't know is if he's
going to sign it. But assuming he does, and assuming
the Feds have no objection, because that's also written into

(46:26):
the bill that it would have to be approved by
the federal government, then we would have Texas time, a
permanent switch to daylight saving time. So where we're at now,
we're on daylight saving time in November, we would not
switch back to standard time. We would stay on our
own Texas time. Now, the Feds could, I suppose, screw

(46:50):
this up, but not if President Trump has anything to
say about it. Trump first of all, was in favor
of just having permanent standard time, and then each changed
his mind, he shifted his perspective. He said this, and
I quote the House and senateship push hard for more
daylight at the end of the day, very popular and
most importantly, no more changing of the clocks, a big

(47:12):
inconvenience and for our government, a very costly event. So
he's in favor of permanent daylight saving time. So I
would think if he's not objecting, then chances are pretty
good maybe that it will end up being the case,
because the federal government is the only one that can

(47:34):
prevent us from doing it. At least according to this bill.
See Arizona did it without caring what the federal government said.
Several other states have done it. Why do we care
what the federal government says? I would think if anybody
is more inclined to say forget the federal government on this,
it'd be us. But that's the way the bill was written.

Katie Freeway west Side, David.

Speaker 24 (48:34):
Dayki Ike where the HOV lanes splits off of Ike
In right before Looke sixty a Grand station. There's a
vehicle on its side, and a little further down the
HOV lane there is a vehicle up against the wall.

Speaker 5 (48:48):
Holy wow, this rain is causing some real issues. So
that's Katie Freeway right in the managed lanes. But the
transit station inbound stay on those mainlanes, stay out of it.
Two Mike Magnolia, Dude, I had the exit. Get down,
all right, good verbage there, this is in bound. Let's

(49:09):
watch out. We got spinouts out the wall zoo this morning.
Skymike in the USA RV Resorts dot Com Traffic Center.

Speaker 3 (49:15):
From r KTRH top Tax Defenders twenty four our weather center.
We've got ken boone filling in for Terry today. Yep.
We still have some morning rain going on, but not
much longer.

Speaker 22 (49:25):
That's true, about another hour, maybe two. As I think
we get into that seven o'clock hour and approach eight o'clock,
I think we'll start to see it push further and
further off to the east. But we still got a
chance that we could see another round of showers and
storms later on this afternoon. It didn't too tight about
a thirty percent chance. Otherwise, look for the clouds to
break up this afternoon. Sunshine mixes in upper eighties to
near ninety mid seventies. Tonight showers and storms possible Wednesday

(49:47):
and Thursday, most numerous, and the best chance will be
through the afternoon at evening hours, but there is a
chance that we could see some of those late night
early morning ones as well. High temperatures both days middle
to upper eighties, and then rain chance has dropped it
just a slight chance Friday and in just a stray
storm possible over the weekend. High's middle upper eighties Friday, Saturday,
ninety Sunday.

Speaker 3 (50:05):
Right now sixty eight at your official severe weather station,
News Radio seven forty eight TRH six eighteen our time
here in Houston's wing to New so Dan Patricks, you know,
wants no THHC products of any kind sold in the
Great State of Texas, and it looks like the state
legislature is willing to go along with it. Here's the
latest what Lieutenant Governor has to say about THCHC and

(50:28):
Paul Castro, who's a public safety official. This is on
Fox twenty six. Grocy of Fox twenty six said that
there's a downside to try to get rid of all
THHC products. They're poisoning our children and we must ban THHC.

Speaker 21 (50:43):
We can't regulate it.

Speaker 49 (50:44):
We don't have enough police to check every store, whether
they are eight to nine thousand of them.

Speaker 20 (50:47):
Yeah, my concern is it is going to push everything underground.
So as an example, one of the things that you
know is that you know certain times of gambling are illegal,
and yet you go into gas stations and what do
you see. You see people, you know, putting taking money
out of ATM machines and gambling all day.

Speaker 3 (51:03):
It's going to be there in some way, shape or form.

Speaker 20 (51:05):
We're talking about eight billion dollar industry, fifty three thousand jobs,
probably four hundred million in sales tax receipts that are
going to go underground. And so if it goes underground,
my primary concern is the easiest thing to do is
lace it with fentanyl, and that way you have a
hooked client. But if you don't know a good way
to measure that out, there's a possibility of increasing death.
So I'm not in favor of obviously having anything, you know,

(51:28):
illegal things happening for kids. I'm also concerned that the
market's there now and that market will find a way
to be satisfied.

Speaker 3 (51:34):
Well, he's got a great point, he does. Those are
legitimate concerns. All right, six twenty our time, Let's get
to traffic and weather. It's together, short. You should be shorts, guy, Mike.
You just a moment, we're going to talk to a
hundred galer political commentator about the fraud we're finding with
government credit card accounts.

Speaker 5 (51:53):
Okay, I decided to be short. Robert from Krosby, thanks
for those light closures. FM twenty one hundred signals are
outrether Foley and Diamond Head Southwest Freeway inbound Sweetwater. That
wreck is that's nothing good happening there. We're packed up
inbound from the bridge. Skymike on the USA RV Resorts
dot Com traffics there.

Speaker 3 (52:13):
From our KTRH top tax Defenders twenty four hour Weather Center.
Morning thunderstorms they're going to make way for part of
the cloudy skies for much of the day eighty eight,
but we're not done with the storms. Morning thunderstorms tomorrow
and then chance of scattered storms for the afternoon. In
a high of eighty three, right down sixty eight at
your official severe weather station, News Radio seven forty KTRH.

(52:34):
Donigue caught up on some top Tuesday morning stories. Here's Cliff,
thank you. Jimmy.

Speaker 6 (52:38):
We are hearing about some storm damage in the Montgomery
County area, specifically Conroe and the Woodlands. No reports of
injuries yet from last night storms. A four year old
child is found unresponsive in a swimming pool in Spring.
That child in the hospital, condition unknown. And Jimmy three

Speaker 3 (53:21):
I listened on the way hord traffic.

Speaker 1 (53:23):
Us Radio seven forty KTRH.

Speaker 3 (53:27):
Six twenty two. Our time, you're in news this morning news. No,
we don't need no fraud, and we certainly don't need
no fraud at the federal government. Senator Jonny Ernst has
found huge amounts of fraud and the sixty billion dollar
federal employees spent with government credit cards. You know, they
went to casinos and bars and pay per view UFC
fights and all sorts of fun things. But wasn't it

(53:49):
amazing because those found this out too. Once you started
requesting or requiring receipts, all of a sudden, a lot
of the fraud started to dry up. Hunter Gala joins
US political commentator, the CEO of Market Bridge Advisors Hire,
Welcome to the show. I think that it's that's a
pretty big oxy moron government credit cards. It's kind of

(54:10):
like military intelligence, isn't it exactly?

Speaker 53 (54:13):
I mean, clearly they have a real, you know, credit
card addiction, and it's real. Four point six million government
credit cards in circulation. That's double the number of federal employees.
I mean, it's a slap in the face to every
hard working American. You were out here trying to budget
for our families groceries, and here you have these federal
employees charging up casinos and these UFCA pay per view fights.

Speaker 27 (54:36):
It's on our dime. It's disgusting.

Speaker 3 (54:38):
I don't know why we did it that way to
begin with a lot of companies. You know, you don't
get a company credit card in the in the business
world in most cases, unless maybe the CEO of the company.
Most people, you know, have to put it on their
own charge card and then submit an expense reporting it reimbursed.
Why don't we do it that way with the federal government.

Speaker 53 (54:58):
Why are we even allowing the federal government to have
credit cards?

Speaker 3 (55:01):
Anyway?

Speaker 27 (55:01):
It's our money, I mean, what are they spending it on?

Speaker 2 (55:03):
What?

Speaker 53 (55:03):
I don't even understand why the federal government needs to
go to a casino. I mean, technically they are the house, right,
but they're spending our money, so it's ridiculous. I don't
even think they should have the credit cards.

Speaker 3 (55:14):
I don't either. I don't. But what I've been saying
is is if there are legitimate expenses, there are ways
to do it without issuing a government credit card to employees.

Speaker 53 (55:23):
I would absolutely agree with you. I think the whole
system needs to be reformed.

Speaker 3 (55:27):
And you know, if they have.

Speaker 53 (55:28):
To go back to the old school of submitting reports
and you know, actually justifying the expense of whether it's done,
they should do it on their dime and ask for reimbursement.

Speaker 27 (55:38):
If they're going to do anything, start with spending their money.

Speaker 3 (55:41):
I guess at this late date, my biggest question would
be why did it take this long for somebody to
take a look at this.

Speaker 53 (55:47):
Well, you know, in my honest view is I think
it's just it's irresponsibility.

Speaker 40 (55:53):
Right.

Speaker 53 (55:53):
They've created this culture of waste in Washington, and Washington's
been treating you know, the national budget budget like a
bottomless eight machine anyway, and it's the taxpayers that are
the ones getting mugged at the cash register. And I
think this is what happens when you when when you
create this culture of really you know, waste, fraud, and abuse,

(56:13):
pork barrel spending. I mean, you look at this at
your call, your your listeners know this. Every time they
pass a bill, they put pork barrel spending in it, right,
any way that they can try to get money out
of the American taxpayer.

Speaker 27 (56:24):
They've been doing it for years.

Speaker 53 (56:25):
And so until you go in like what I believe
Doges was trying to do and just eradicate this behavior,
you're not gonna you're not gonna really have any reform
in the system. I mean, you know this, it needs
a real audit, not just training. We need government that
can respect every dollar it takes from the American people,
because government doesn't have its own money, it only has
our money, right and with a nation that's thirty four

(56:47):
trillion dollars in debt, it has no business funding these
bureaucratic party nights.

Speaker 3 (56:51):
In my opinion, I could agree with them more now
that the House, of course is in charge of the
spending of the budget of the United States, so we
need to have legislation that would permanently ban things like
government credit cards.

Speaker 52 (57:05):
Well, I don't know if.

Speaker 53 (57:06):
You would necessarily do a permanent ban, but it's a
good place to start. I mean, as you said, there
are legitimate expenses in running any type of enterprise, but
I think it's the type of expenses that need that
need to be brought into question right and I think
if they are going to have any type of systematic
change or conversation, it needs to be what is considered

(57:27):
an actual expense. I don't think a pay per view
fight or casino purchases are legitimate expenses for the government.

Speaker 3 (57:35):
No, you wouldn't think so, Hunter, Thank you appreciate. Hunter Galor,
political commentator, CEO of Market Bridge Advisors, It's six twenty six.
It's time to take a look at your money as
we check in once again with Jeff Bellinger and Jimmy.

Speaker 29 (57:48):
If you have young children in your household, you likely
know the TV series Coco Melon is incredibly popular with preschoolers.
That show will be moving from Netflix to Disney Plus
in a couple of years. Source to say Walt Disney
struck a deal to take the streaming What Writes away
from Netflix in twenty twenty seven. Terms of that deal
were not disclosed. Coco Mellon was the second most watched

(58:11):
program on Netflix last year. Only Bridgerton attracted more viewers.
Stock market futures all pointing higher this morning. I'm Jeff Bellinger,

Houston's morning news. Well, first, first, speaking of Diego, slap

(59:04):
your skyline.

Speaker 5 (59:05):
We've got that Southwest Freeway.

Speaker 3 (59:07):
Let's smack that real good.

Speaker 5 (59:09):
We're backed up now from Grand Parkway into Barker Cypress.

Speaker 3 (59:12):
You lose about eight to ten minutes inbound.

Speaker 5 (59:14):
I suspect we've got a stall right there around Greenhouse Zoo.

Speaker 3 (59:18):
That's looking like a wreck.

Speaker 5 (59:19):
Let's get updated laneage at six forty Southwest Freeway, Sweetwater.
Nothing good's happening there. They've shut off all but the
left lane inbounds.

Speaker 3 (59:28):
It looks like a lot of people are still taking
a holiday.

Speaker 5 (59:31):
Let's switch over to All ninety or the West Park Tollway. Hoober,

From our KTRH Generator Supercenter twenty four hour weather center
for today morning storms then becoming partly cloudy with the
high right about eighty eight. Current temperature sixty eight at
your official severe weather station, News Radio seven forty KTRH.
It's time down for the the news. Here's Cliff Sanders.
Thank you, Jimmy.

Speaker 6 (01:00:02):
It's six thirty one on KTRH. Our top story this
hour is the weather. As of now, no reports of injuries,
but we do have reports of damage across the area,
for instance, a tree that crashed through a house in
northwest Harris County.

Speaker 3 (01:00:16):
There are also reports of.

Speaker 6 (01:00:17):
Damage in Conroe and the Woodlands, and eighty three thousand
Center Point customers are without power. That is down from
a high of one hundred and eighty one thousand. Also
topping the news this morning, Republicans can only afford to
lose two votes in the Senate on President Trump's budget agenda.
Kentucky Senator Ran Paul is against the bill at this point,

(01:00:39):
so is Wisconsin's Ron Johnson.

Speaker 45 (01:00:41):
My campaign promised in twenty ten and every campaign after that,
was to stop mortgaging our children's future. It's immral, it's wrong,
and it has to stop. And so he may not
be worried about that. I am extremely worried about that.

Speaker 3 (01:00:53):
Johnson on CNN.

Speaker 6 (01:00:55):
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer says no Democrat will vote
for what Trump is called the Big Beautiful Bill. Texas farmers, though,
are cheering the agenda. Gary Joyner with the Texas Farm
Bureau says they're pleas for more federal help have been heard.

Speaker 33 (01:01:09):
Texas farmers and ranchers. I believe feel the Trump administration
has Texas agricultures back.

Speaker 6 (01:01:15):
Joyn, You're saying that the plan provides financial protection against
losses due to natural disasters like drought and floods. Coming
up on six point thirty three, the president has finally
hit his breaking point with Russi's Vladimir Putin, putting the
Russian president on blast this weekend.

Speaker 34 (01:01:31):
We're in the middle of talking and he's shooting rockets into.

Speaker 3 (01:01:34):
Givin other cities. I don't like it at all.

Speaker 6 (01:01:37):
On another foreign policy from Trump told reporters there has
been major progress in nuclear talks with Ron here at home.
After years of attacking Trump and calling him and conservatives
a threat to democracy. Andrea Widberg with The American Thinker
says it's the Democrats who are the real threat, and
they're the ones who are now being exposed.

Speaker 35 (01:01:58):
Every one of their ideas is foul and unsailable.

Speaker 55 (01:02:02):
So all that they've got.

Speaker 3 (01:02:03):
Left is orange mandat.

Speaker 35 (01:02:05):
That's all they've got, Orange mandat.

Speaker 6 (01:02:08):
And a lot of questions to answer for all of
the anti American things they've done over the last number
of years. And then there are the rhinos. But there
may be time coming to an end, or rather their
time may be coming to an end if enough conservatives
can challenge them in the midterms.

Speaker 56 (01:02:26):
Sometimes you have to play the risk to get the reward.
I think this is one of those times.

Speaker 37 (01:02:30):
Especially John Cornet, he is good enough, but that's not
good enough.

Speaker 56 (01:02:35):
Columnists and retired Army colonel Kurt Slicker says we need
hardcore conservatives like Ken Paxton to take the reins and
the playing up to the Democrats from Cornan has warned
the patience of people he.

Speaker 37 (01:02:45):
Is a bushy Republican and those guys are on the
way out.

Speaker 3 (01:02:48):
We're tired of them. They've sailed and he's sailed.

Speaker 21 (01:02:52):
He says.

Speaker 56 (01:02:52):
Democrats also have no real candidate to push, which would
make the risk even lower. Andre Perard News Radio seven
forty KTRH.

Speaker 3 (01:02:59):
Thank you, Andre, six thirty four.

Speaker 6 (01:03:01):
Now the left doesn't want to admit this, but more
gen Z both men and women are turning magum in
an effort to make, as they say, America hot again.

Speaker 9 (01:03:12):
Even in major cities which tend to lean left, young
conservatives are taking over and you're.

Speaker 12 (01:03:16):
Seeing young Republican clubs pop up. You're seeing the social
clubs in these cities populated with young conservative folks.

Speaker 9 (01:03:24):
Political strategist Nick Linquis says the reason for this is
young people are just sick of the radical left.

Speaker 12 (01:03:29):
It's becoming a more extreme version of leftism. Young career
focused professionals trying to advance their lives aren't going to
put up with that anymore.

Speaker 9 (01:03:38):
He thinks the new young conservative movement will only continue
to grow because of how embedded in the culture it is.
Ethan Buchanan News Radio seven forty KRH.

Speaker 6 (01:03:46):
Looking at your money down Futures are up more than
five hundred points this morning. This is after the President's
announcement over the weekend to the lake tariffs on the
EU by thirty days. Despite the mainstream media spin, Texas
small business is going strong, the future looks bright, and
new survey by JP Morgan Chase says fifty eight percent

(01:04:06):
of Houston Areas small businesses are in growth mode. Glenn
Hammer with the Texas Association of Businesses says the state
is a powerhouse of international trade.

Speaker 27 (01:04:16):
Tariffs are definitely an issue we need to deal with that.

Speaker 39 (01:04:18):
There's some positive activity in terms of tax relief that
will be a big benefit to all of the Texas
small businesses.

Speaker 3 (01:04:26):
He says.

Speaker 6 (01:04:27):
Policies approved in this year's state legislative session will give
small businesses a dramatic break from both taxes and regulatory burdens.
And there's this as offices are pushing people to come
back to work. The pushback continues thanks to research that's
complicating at all.

Speaker 38 (01:04:45):
Gallip report finds remote employees were sixty percent more engaged
in their work than those in the office, but also
more subject to isolation and loneliness.

Speaker 40 (01:04:53):
The disconnected feeling of not being able to interface with
people face to face can kind of start to get
digged if you down and it makes your remote for two.

Speaker 38 (01:05:00):
Lone star College economics professor Hank Lewis as executives who
want everyone back in the workplace may need to compromise.

Speaker 40 (01:05:06):
I prefer hybrid to phully online philly in the office.
It really is a best of both worlds.

Speaker 38 (01:05:11):
When it comes to feeling stress or feeling that they're
doing well. The survey shows hybrid workers doing better than
workers always in the office or always remote. Charles Molino,

The app that puts the app in happening. We have
some breaking news.

Speaker 4 (01:05:43):
You ready make ktr H your number one prefet on
the new and improved free iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 3 (01:05:50):
So you seen this video yet? And maybe he's maybe
he's inappropriate for me to laugh at it, because if
if the president of France had slapped his wife, we
wouldn't find that funny, right, But somehow the wife slapping
him is getting quite a few laughs. They they're trying
to play it off like his horse play. He's getting

(01:06:12):
ready to get off of his presidential jet and you
see this red arm come out, and you know, he
gets pushed and slapped and he said, here's this, here's this.
Look at his face like, oh crap, and he looks
because the door's open, you know, the people waiting for him,
they could all see what's going on. It's all been

(01:06:33):
caught on video, and he just got it. And then
he just gathers himself together really really really quick, although
you can see he disappears on the other side of
the door for a moment and says something to her.
I'm not sure what he said, but I'm sure it
wasn't very pleasant whatever it was that he did say. Again,

(01:06:53):
they're trying to play this off like horseplay. That that No,
that was not horseplay. That was that was a dude
getting slapped by in this case's wife. And by the way,
if you want to see it, I'll let you be
the judge for yourself. You go to if you follow
us on either Facebook or ex we have it posted
there for you to check out, so you can watch
it for yourself and then you can tell me if

(01:07:15):
you think it's a horse play or a slap. But
it got me thinking, you know about any time that
I have if you ever been slapped by a woman,
and if you were slapped by the woman, either what
were you doing or what were you saying? And I
thought to myself, is there any way we can do
this and keep it clean, because most guys get slapped

(01:07:36):
by women when they're doing something inappropriate, right, although by
case I didn't. Of course, this wasn't really a slap.
This was a punch. My wife actually punched me once.
This is before we got married, Yes, I married her anyway,
And I just kind of playfully gave her a tug
on her. She had her hair in a ponytail, and
he gave a tug on the ponytail, and she was

(01:07:58):
she just reacted to it. I guess it caught her
by the the hairs that are kind of tied up
there and kind of hurt a little bit. And without
even thinking, she just whirled around and punched me. And
she said, I realized about halfway through that I really
shouldn't be doing this. Why are you going to punch him?
He didn't mean anything by it, but I punched him anyway.

(01:08:22):
It didn't hurt that much. Look, I don't have a
glass job, but I'm just kind of curious of what
you may have done that the last thing you did
they got yourself slapped by a woman. If it's a story,
you can actually tell you can go to the I
hired radio app KTRH, hit the talk back button and
get up to thirty seconds. First thing where you're calling from,
and the incident that got you slapped again. Remember we

(01:08:44):
got to keep this in family friendly terms. Six forty
time for a little traffic. It's not a question how
many times sky Mike has been slapped, it's when was
the last time you were slapped?

Speaker 5 (01:08:56):
How about run over by a car? That's a good story.
I have to tell that sometime of mind. That might
be and you live to talk about it though, Yeah,
went through the windshields. Let's do Southwest Freeway. This is
not good sweetwater. This wrick is really not good stuff.
We're backed up now just after the bridge, all the
way inbound, just the left line getting by. A lot

(01:09:17):
of you are listening, a lot of you are paying
attention and jumping off onto the west part told way.
If you're not a big shot and you can take
the alt ninety most City Expressway, Katie Freeway, you're on.
Some of your navigation is still showing a closure at Silver.
It's not that's reopened. That was pretty gnarly wrecked too.
One of them was overturned inbound. Looks like that was
in the manage lanes. Looks like we're good to go now.

(01:09:38):
The main lanes just normal morning suck. It's from Graham
Parkway into Barker Cypress. We cleared a minor wreck there.
Spinouts off the Wazoo north Loop six ten. Nothing good
at forty five. Looks like we're just crammed up now.
From the east text will Clayton Parkway, Bush Airport.

Speaker 3 (01:09:54):
It's always uber Mike.

Speaker 24 (01:09:55):
It was a guy Mike. Also coming up here a
Lee Road to the light down here as well, and
the power on the right hand.

Speaker 2 (01:10:02):
Side is down.

Speaker 5 (01:10:03):
We had power issues around Bush last night.

Speaker 3 (01:10:06):
I should know.

Speaker 5 (01:10:06):
Nineteen sixty at Lee you got lights flashing making craziness there,
twenty one hundred in Crosby Robert from Crosby at me
Fully Road. Also both diamond head lights are out, so
just be ready for some suckage. Whichever way got to
turn that snooze off. Skymichael the Generator Supercenter dot Com
traffic Center.

Speaker 3 (01:10:24):
Don't you have landing lights in your backyard at the
ghetto huse? I need some, I need some, I need
some strobes. He's a little close to the roadway, is
what I'm saying from our Ktirah Generator Supercenter, twenty four
hour weather center ken boone in for terry today, still running,
but not for that much longer, kid.

Speaker 22 (01:10:40):
No, about an hour, maybe two at best. I think
it'll start to clear the area off to the east.
A lot of areas west of town have already seen
much of the rain kind of taper off, and then
as we get into the afternoon, we'll start to see
the clouds break up, sunshine mixes in late this afternoon
to evening hours.

Speaker 21 (01:10:55):
Here's a chance for some showers and storms.

Speaker 22 (01:10:57):
Approaching ninety this afternoon, slight champ for an overnight shower
storm mid seventies. Pretty good chance for showers and storms
though Wednesday Thursday, especially through the afternoon at evening hours.

Then just a slight chance of storms Friday to finish

Right now sixty eight did your official severe weather station
News Radio seven forty k TRH. So my original question
today had to do with this idea out there that
what we really need to do to save the environment
and to you know, make life a lot easier, is

(01:11:38):
just to rewild our yards. Just let it go natural.
Whatever the native grass is where you live. You know,
when wild flowers, if they grow, you have weeds. Who
weeds are I mean, danielions are beautiful flowers. Who says
they have to be weeds? Today? I was asking you
about your lawn habits. Are you into the idea of

(01:11:58):
rewilding your yard car or you somebody like me who
likes it nice and green and manicured and well taken
care of bees?

Speaker 23 (01:12:07):
And without wild yards, bees are dying.

Speaker 3 (01:12:12):
There's no food for them.

Speaker 18 (01:12:14):
I live on nine acres and it's rewild and next
to me is eight hundred acres with cows on it.

Speaker 3 (01:12:24):
There's almost no food for the bees.

Speaker 57 (01:12:29):
Marty and Cyprus. I do my own yard and I
like it to be pristine, beautiful, lush, I fertilize, I water,
I do everything that garden Line tells me to do.

Speaker 3 (01:12:43):
Ah, there you go, garden Line fan. If you'd like
to participate, I heard radio app katrh make us number

Speaker 3 (01:15:03):
It's sick fifty three here on the Houston's morning News.
Gen Z. If you were to dinnerly this morning, might
have heard me read the statistic. Forty two percent of
gen Zers want to go to trade school so they
can learn a trade. They're worried about artificial intelligence taking
over their job, so they want to learn a job

(01:15:25):
that would be difficult for AI to do, whether that's
being a bricklayer, hvac repair person, whatever that may be.
Here is a gen Z on Fox talking about this
change of attitude.

Speaker 58 (01:15:38):
I think it's been an actually pretty recent shift because
I think I went to college myself.

Speaker 26 (01:15:43):
My husband also went to college.

Speaker 58 (01:15:44):
And graduate school, but he actually did pursue a career
in construction afterwards, so he is not usually using those degrees,
but ironically he finds his work now way more fulfilling
than if he would have pursued a white collar job.
And I think the recent shift is because a lot
of gen Zers realized that, you know, the narrative that
we had been sold as children, that there's only one
path for you, which is that you go to college,

(01:16:05):
you get a degree, and you go into a white
collar field. It's just not realistic anymore. Number one, a
lot of these young adults are having a very difficult
time actually finding jobs in the white collar workforce.

Speaker 1 (01:16:17):
And also the purpose of.

Speaker 58 (01:16:18):
Education has changed so dramatically over the past several years
that even if you believe that college is a good
in and of itself, that it's a good thing to
be able to go and study something that gives you
meaning and purpose, most colleges don't offer that anymore. They're
far more interested in indoctrinating students than they are actually
teaching them how to think for themselves. So there's really

(01:16:38):
no deeper meaning to it anymore either, So young adults
are looking elsewhere.

Speaker 3 (01:16:43):
Makes sense to me. I'm just glad that they're waking
up to it, and in colleges and universities need to
wake up to it as well, you know, though not everybody.
You know, maybe the Harvard's will always have students because
it's considered prestigious to go there, But a lot, a
lot of other colleges and in community colleges, I think

(01:17:03):
in particular, are going to have to concentrate on being
more than a feeder school to other universities. They're gonna
need to, not that they don't offer vocational education. They do,
but it's going to become a bigger and bigger thing,
I think as time goes on. All Right, we are

It is seven oh two on ktr sponsored by Shampas,
John Dear our top story this hour, a stormy night
and morning across Houston. At one point, Center Point had
one hundred and eighty one thousand customers in the dark.
That number has been worked down to about eighty thousand

in Northwest Harris County and Montgomery County. We're also hearing

(01:21:23):
about a person who died when a car hydroplaned and
hit a tree in West Harris County.

Speaker 3 (01:21:29):
So that's what's happening with the weather.

Speaker 6 (01:21:31):
Also topping the news today is the deadline for the
Texas House to pass bills before the session ends. On
June second, a proposal requiring all county sheriffs operating jails
to enter into formal agreements with federal immigration authorities passed,
but Joscelyn's Law, named after Joscelyn Nungeray, who deny bail
to some violent criminals, is stalled in the Texas House.

Harris County Judge Lena Hidalgo dropped the bombshell last week
when she said the county, led by her, was facing
a two hundred and seventy million dollar bunch of deficits.

Speaker 3 (01:22:37):
So how did we get here and how can we
fix it?

Speaker 9 (01:22:40):
One solution is to simply cut back on the county's
discretionary spending.

Speaker 10 (01:22:44):
We got five hundred million dollars worth of issues we
can look at. We can choose not to spend money there.

Speaker 9 (01:22:52):
Pre Sting three Commissioner Tom Ramsey says cutting spending could
help us avoid another tax increase.

Speaker 10 (01:22:57):
We have a spending problem. We don't have a revenue problem.
We have raised taxes every year I've been on Commissioner's court.

Speaker 9 (01:23:05):
Ramsey pointed specifically to the county administrator's office, which costs
twenty five million a year, as a good place to
start cutting. Ethan Buchannan News Radio seven forty KRH.

Maybe that's exactly what she may this. I know she's

a little little more love in her life. I don't know,
but anyway, she's not going well. At least if she's
not going, she's not going on the county dime, that's right.
The Commissioner's Court took a vote, and the vote was

(01:27:03):
three to two. The only person standing with the cheese
they kept the cheese from standing alone was Rodney Ellis
voting in favor of sending Leonie Hill Dogo to party.
But no, no, no, he's not to be. Everybody else
voted against it. And oh not only that, but also
by three to two vote, you had the Commissioner's voting

(01:27:27):

the Houston Police Department. So that's probably gonna add a

(01:34:17):
guess Rodney Ells was the only one that thought she
should go on the trip. Huh.

Speaker 23 (01:34:22):
Yeah, I didn't have a problem with Paris, Texas, but
she wanted to go to Paris, France, and I had
a real problem with that.

Speaker 3 (01:34:28):
Yeah, unless there's a one way ticket, in which case
maybe that'd be a different story.

Speaker 23 (01:34:33):
Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 3 (01:34:35):
The other three to two vote that she lost was
on the losing side of his pay raises for Harris
County Deputy's paid parody, And of course everybody's going to
wonder how much is that going to cost the county
and how do you come up with the money?

Speaker 23 (01:34:49):
Well, you know, we were real pleased to get that through.
This is something that's been way overdue, and we spend
money on nearly everything you can imagine. But last week
on Thursday, we passed the pay parody, which we will
now pay our officers the same as Houston Police officers

(01:35:11):
and Jimmy, that's one hundred and forty two million dollars
a year impact, but we're just glad to pay it.

Speaker 3 (01:35:17):
Okay, So let's talk about where the money's going to
come from, because right now we're looking at a two
hundred and seventy million dollar deficit. Of course, I'm sure
the first thing that Lena is going to suggest, Well,
first of all, she blamed you and Jack Cagele for
us having a two hundred and seventy million dollar deficit
because you wouldn't allow them to vote in favor of

(01:35:37):
a tax like last time around.

Speaker 23 (01:35:40):
I think her every time she says that, because she's
telling the taxpayers that we saved the taxpayers forever five
hundred million dollars a year. So I am that's what
y'all put me in there to do, is when we
don't need a tax increase, we shouldn't do it. In
this case, when caglin I did it three years ago.
She he keeps saying, well, we would have used that

(01:36:01):
money for police officers, where our past actions would not
indicate that that's what she would she would do. By
the way, the two hundred and seventy million comes from
doing the math. We're currently one hundred and thirty million
over budget through half the year. With this pay raise
that we're going to give the police officers, that's one

(01:36:24):
hundred and forty two. So that's the tow seventy that
she comes up with. But as I've said before, our
discretionary spending is five hundred million dollars a year. This
will not be a problem Jimmy finding the money on
and just taking out of discretionary spending on things like

(01:36:45):
the County Administrator's office twenty five million, the Department of
Economic Effuity and Opportunity nine million, Access hair is forty
seven million, consultants from PFM to Boston consultant groups. These
are tens of millions of dollars. So there's not a problem.
We've got a spending problem in Harris County, not a

(01:37:07):
revenue problem.

Speaker 3 (01:37:08):
Completely understood. So here's the question. I guess the big
question is can you get three to two win on
eliminating some of this waste in Harris County? Can you
get enough commissioners to go along with you on this
so that the idea of a tax hike doesn't see
the light of day?

Speaker 23 (01:37:27):
I think so. I think that certainly you're either going
to be on the side of Judge Oldago, who absolutely
does not understand finance. She doesn't understand tax rates. We
have gone up on our tax revenues every year I've
been on court, and she keeps acting like we're cutting taxes.

(01:37:50):
We're not cutting taxes. Your tax bill goes up every year.
There's money there. I think that when we go through
the budget in detail with UH, they'll be at least
three commissioners that look at that and say, you know what,
we can cut that spending. And if there was ever
a time not to do a tax increase, it would
be this year, particular, since last year we did a

(01:38:13):
fifteen percent tax increase that she doesn't really want to
talk about what she did last year because of the
disaster loophole that the legislatures closed. Now they raised the
taxes next year. So this would be a good year
not to raise taxes.

Speaker 3 (01:38:29):
Yeah, well, any of year would be good. You're not
to raise taxes out hop Yeah, hope, you hope you're
right on it. I hope you're right on that support though, Commissioner,
I do appreciate your time as always, Thank you very much,
Harris County Precinct three Commissioner Tom Ramsey seven twenty seven.
It is time to take a look at your money
as we check it again with Jeff Fellinger and Jimmy.
A tech sector deal was just announced, Sales Forces buying

(01:38:50):
the software solutions provider in for Medica. It's a transaction
valued at about eight billion dollars, and more drivers are
checking the used car lots when it's time to replace
their rides. The Wall Street Journal sites data from Cox
Automotive in reporting the dealers had just a forty three
day supply of used cars at the beginning of this month.

(01:39:11):
It was the lowest for this time of year since
twenty twenty one. Stock Market futures hire right across the

Southwest Freeway Sweetwater has been our big story all morning.
This is a wreck in bound, just a left line
getting buy now and most of you have rerouted. Nice
work there on either the West Park or All ninety.
You've got Katie Freeway at the West Loops. I'm kind
of smusher here. Sure looks like a stall. This is
actually affecting both in and outbound East Freeway. Clear the
wreck at the truck stops at Magnolia Outbound. We've got

Our top story at seven thirty two is the weather
where the storms are moving out slowly but surely too
late for some seventy six thousand Center Point customers are
still in the dark. At one point that number was
in the area of one hundred and eighty one thousand.
One person is dead a driver who hydroplaned into a
tree in West Harris County. Other reports of damage are

(01:41:29):
in Northwest Harris County where a tree crashed through a house.
Damage also done in Conroe and the Woodlands. Also topping
the news this morning. The Trump agenda faces more opposition
from Republicans in the Senate, and at least two senators,
Wisconsin's Ron Johnson and Kentucky's Rant Paul, are questioning what
Trump's Big Beautiful bill will do to the national debts.

Speaker 31 (01:41:51):
What I think rand is missing on this one is
the fact that we are quite serious about this. This
is the biggest spending cut, Shannon in more than thirty years.

Speaker 6 (01:42:01):
Our speaker Mike Johnson on Fox News Sunday that said
President Trump's big beautiful bill is something for everyone, including
Texas farmers.

Speaker 32 (01:42:10):
Texas farmers are cheering Congress's approval of the Tax and
Spending Plan, which includes more money for farm safety net programs.

Speaker 33 (01:42:18):
This is an important step to assure the viability of
American agriculture going forward.

Speaker 32 (01:42:22):
Gary Joyner with the Texas Farm Bureau says that safety
Net provides financial protection against losses due to natural disasters
like drought and floods. He says that helps them stay
in business and continue to produce healthy food. It's something

Speaker 34 (01:42:49):
I don't know what the hell happened to Putin. I've
known them a long time, always gotten along with them.
But he's sending rockets into cities and killing people, and I.

Speaker 6 (01:42:58):
Don't like it at all, especially while the Trump administration
is trying to get a ceasefire in the region. Here
at home, he's delivering on his campaign promises and at
the same time exposing the truth all right to democracy.

Speaker 3 (01:43:12):
And that would be the Democrats. All they've got is obstruction.

Speaker 35 (01:43:17):
All they've got is Trump is a liar. All they
can do is try to slow down and block the
Trump agenda.

Speaker 3 (01:43:22):

Speaker 37 (01:44:01):
What are they gonna do? Three time loser Beto. I
don't see a great opponent who can really cross over

think they'll stick with Kenny Paxton. That's why I think
it's time to take a risk roll those dice.

rich social experiences that everyone's been craving for years, and
I don't see that happening on the left anymore.

Speaker 6 (01:44:41):
That's political strategist Nick Lindquis. He says this is also

According to Gallup, remote workers had higher engagement with their jobs,
but at the same time higher levels of loneliness. On
Star collegeconomist Sink Louis As, the answer may be in

Speaker 40 (01:46:03):
I wouldn't think that if the executives could find a
way to allow more hybrid work a compromise that would
be probably the most idea for worker satisfaction as well
as productivity for the business, because that's where the bottom line.

Kid, I'm a long freak. I always have been a
long freak. I don't cut my own grass anymore, but
I used to, and when I did, I used to
a cross pattern like a ballpark, and I'd be out
there weeding and fertilizing and trimming. And I've always been
that way since I was a kid. My dad used

(01:47:07):
tell a story that was like I was like two
years old, I just learned how to walk, and they
bought me one of those toy back in the day,
one of those toy lawnmowers, you know, with the little
that made the little you know, fake engine sound on
it and eat. When I was just old enough to walk,
I'd be pushing that thing behind my dad, pretending I

(01:47:28):
was cutting the grass. So I've always been a law
free my entire life. So when I saw this story
about rewilding America's lawns, you know, no, no more wasting
water making grass green. No more fertilizer to get rid
of weeds and to strengthen your grass. Let's just rewild here.

(01:47:50):
Let's go all natural. Whatever grass was there when you
when you before they built your house, let it grow again.
Whatever weeds were there, let them grow again, you know,
so that we can stop all this silliness. So I
guess my question is which side of the camp are
you on? Are you a lawnlover or a lawn hater?

(01:48:11):
And it's been about fifty to fifty this morning of
people who you know, love having a great looking yard
and work hard to have a great looking guard and
the people who just say, I'd rather just let it
go the hell. So here's some of your talkbacks on
this one. You can still respond by the way, iHeartRadio

couple of people who are supportive and a couple of
people who aren't.

Speaker 42 (01:48:41):
Good morning, guys. This is Carlos from Porter Texas. That
whole rewilding the yard thing just sounds like people being
lazy and not actually.

I don't cut it, but I might smoke it and
weeze in.

Speaker 3 (01:49:25):
My on a weedze he's got in his yard. Oh
one more? Who just soon not have to take care
of you this stuff? Hey Joe from Crosby, I got tired.

Speaker 21 (01:49:33):
I've been more and grass for forty five years.

Speaker 10 (01:49:35):
I'm tired of it.

What could be worse than.

Speaker 19 (01:49:52):

ready to improve rapidly.

Speaker 22 (01:51:25):
If things should improve here, as we get through the
rest of the morning, most of the rain well east
of us, maybe some patchy pockets of light rain and drizzle,
but those two will end, and you're right, clouds will break.
Sunshine we'll mix in as we head into it through

Speaker 4 (01:54:00):
Next on the ten time saving traffic on seven KTRH.

Speaker 3 (01:54:07):
That's usual. A very interesting article in an American Thinker,
this one about the real threat to America's democracy and
basically it's lies, deception, deceit, and we just got off
four years of dealing with all that during the Biden administration,
the great cognitive decline story that was hidden by the

(01:54:32):
left and every possible turn we you know, a lot
of people voted for somebody they didn't realize was not
really being president of the United States. Andrew Whidberg joins
us managing editor of American Thinker. What's shocking to me, Andrew,
is that there there hasn't been, and it's getting to
be a bigger deal. But what's amazing to me is
that we allowed it to go on for so long

(01:54:53):
and it doesn't appear that anybody's really going to be
punished for what happened.

Speaker 35 (01:55:00):
I don't think anyone will be punished. I know that
sounds pessimistic of me, but DC will ultimately always protect
its own and Republicans in DC seem to be more
part of the system than representatives of the American people.
Cynical and depressing, but true.

Speaker 3 (01:55:19):
Well, yeah, I'd love to argue with you about this,
but I really can't. And maybe that's why we've all
become so cynical. Maybe that's why we don't expect things
to be fixed because we know they won't be and
nobody will do anything about any of this stuff.

Speaker 55 (01:55:36):
It's true, And the reality is Democrats have horrible ideas
and a huge amount of energy and viciousness to put
those ideas into effect and to destroy anyone who stands
in their way.

Speaker 35 (01:55:49):
And Conservatives have good ideas and are just passive and
they talk a good game. But now that Donald Trump
is trying to effectuate all the promises conservatives have made
for decades, as happened in his first term, he's getting
resistance from his own party.

Speaker 19 (01:56:10):
Trump's first term was not successful.

Speaker 35 (01:56:13):
Ultimately, not because of the Democrats, but because of Republican
pushback in apathy.

Speaker 3 (01:56:19):
Well, it seems that this could happen again. We got
the big beautiful bill through the House by one vote,
but we've got at least two Republican senators Ran Paul
among them who say they will not vote in favor
of that big, beautiful bill. And that doesn't even take
the consideration the squishy Republican senator. So he may be
three or four votes short of getting that bill passed

(01:56:39):
in the Senate, exactly.

Speaker 35 (01:56:42):
And it's just a disaster because the tax cuts are
about to expire and the hit on the economy will
be dreadful, and the hypocrisy is really awful from some
of them. Lindsey Graham, for example, voted for the one
point two trillion infrastructure stimulus bill, but is out complaining
that he can't vote for the current bill because it's

(01:57:03):
just got too much spending. Well, they all have spending
in them, frankly, because that's how our government works and
it needs to stop. But right now Trump needs a victory.
We need to have the tax cuts continued, and the
bill has a lot of huge benefits for advancing the
conservative agenda and to give Trump a bit more power

(01:57:25):
to do so. And so the fact that these rhinos
for one of a better word, are collapsing says so much,
and none of it good about establishment Republicans.

Speaker 3 (01:57:37):
So at the end of the day. The real threat
