Speaker 1 (00:00):
Six, twenty two, our time you're in US this morn news. No,
we don't need no fraud, and we certainly don't need
no fraud at the federal government. Senator Jonny Ernst has
found huge amounts of fraud and the sixty billion dollar
federal employees spent with government credit cards. You know, they
went to casinos and bars and pay per view UFC
fights and all sorts of fun things. But wasn't it

(00:21):
amazing because those found this out too. Once you started
requesting or requiring receipts, all of a sudden, a lot
of the fraud started to dry up. Hunter Gala joins
US political commentator, the CEO of Market Bridge Advisors, Hunter,
Welcome to the show. I think that it's that's a
pretty big oxy moron government credit cards. It's kind of

(00:43):
like military intelligence, isn't it exactly.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
I mean, clearly they have a real, you know, credit
card addiction, and it's real. Four point six million government
credit cards in circulation. That's doubled the number of federal employees.
I mean, it's a slap in the face to every
hard working American. You were out here trying to budget
for our families, groceries and here you have these federal
employees charging up casinos and these UFC pay per view fights.

(01:09):
It's on our dime. It's disgusting.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
I don't know why we did it that way to
begin with a lot of companies, you know, you don't
get a company credit card in the business world in
most cases, unless maybe the CEO of the company. Most
people you know, have to put it on their own
charge card and then submit an expense reporting get reimbursed.
Why don't we do it that way with the federal government.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
Why are we even allowing the federal government to have
credit cards anyway? It's our money, I mean, what are
they spending it on?

Speaker 1 (01:36):
What?

Speaker 2 (01:36):
I don't even understand why the federal government needs to
go to a casino. I mean, technically they are the house, right,
but they're spending our money, so it's ridiculous. I don't
even think they should have the credit cards.

Speaker 1 (01:47):
I don't either. I don't. But what I've been saying
is is if there are legitimate expenses, there are ways
to do it without issuing a government credit card to employees.
I would absolutely agree with you.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
I think the whole system needs to be reformed.

Speaker 1 (01:59):
And you know, if they have to.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
Go back to the old school of submitting reports and
and you know, actually justifying the expense of whether it's done.
They should do it on their dime and ask for reimbursement.
If they're going to do anything, start with spending their money.

Speaker 1 (02:13):
I guess at this late date, my biggest question would
be why did it take this long for somebody to
take a look at this?

Speaker 2 (02:20):
Well, you know, in my honest view is I think
it's just it's irresponsibility.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
Right.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
They've created this culture of waste in Washington, and Washington's
been treating you know, the national budget budget like a
bottomless ATM machine anyway, and it's the taxpayers that are
the ones getting mugged at the cash register. And I
think this is what happens when you when when you
create this culture of really you know, waste, fraud, and abuse,

(02:46):
pork barrel spending. I mean, you look at this at
your call, your your listeners know this. Every time they
pass a bill, they put pork barrel spending in it,
right any way that they can try to get money
out of the American taxpayer. They've been doing it for
years and so until you go in like what I
believe doges was trying to do and just eradicate this behavior.
You're not going to really have any reform in the system.

(03:07):
I mean, you know this. It needs a real audit,
not just training. We need government that can respect every
dollar it takes from the American people, because government doesn't
have its own money, it only has our money, right,
and with a nation that's thirty four trillion dollars in debt,
it has no business funding these bureaucratic party nights.

Speaker 1 (03:23):
In my opinion, I could agree with them more now
that the House, of course is in charge of the
spending of the budget of the United States. So do
we need to have legislation that would permanently ban things
like government credit cards? Well, I don't know if.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
You would necessarily do a permanent ban, but it's a
good place to start. I mean, as you said, there
are there are legitimate expenses in running any type of enterprise.
But I think it's it's the type of expenses that
need to be that need to be brought into question, right,
And I think if they are going to have any
type of systematic change or conversation, it needs to be
is what is considered an actual expense. I don't think

(04:01):
a pay per view, fight or casino purchases are legitimate
expenses for the government.

Speaker 1 (04:08):
No, you wouldn't think so, Hunter, Thank you appreciate. Hunter Gaylor,
political commentator, CEO of Market Bridge Advisors at six twenty
