This is huge Radio seven forty kat rh Houston.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
Drive Everywhere with art now, the latest news, weather and draft.
Speaker 3 (00:12):
It's more what matters to you. From the John Morris
Services Studios. Well, good morning, Happy Monday. Five am is
our time here in Houston's Morning News. I'm Jimmy Barrett.
Among our top stories as we get started this morning.
Ice rioting in Los Angeles. Peaceful protesting going on here,
no elon and Trump if not made up yet and
coming up in five o eight, gen Z has a
(00:34):
spending problem. Now, who's fault you suppose?
Speaker 4 (00:37):
That is? Details in the minutes. Say hey, you're in
Houston's Morning News. First rejected the Morning Drive for the
first thing on Monday morning. Here's sky Mike.
Speaker 5 (00:45):
It's the Southwest Freeway outbound Brass River Bridge. It really
started from University. They had this closure and it looks
like we are open. So that's good. That was a
pain in the thorn on your side this weekend. But
that's out of the way. Also East Freeway, Boy, that's
been a smash up every night outbound at the bud Plant.
Speaker 6 (01:04):
Pick that up?
Speaker 5 (01:04):
Is that rain I see up in the corner, Jimmy
find out in ten minutes. I'm in the Generator Supercenter
dot Com traffic Center.
Speaker 4 (01:10):
Yeah, could get some rain here this morning. From our
KTRH top tax Defenders twenty four hour Weather Center, scatteredborny
thunderstorms becoming more widespread this afternoon with the high temperature
right about ninety four. We'll get Terry Smith in here
from the Weather Channel with the complete forecast in about
nine minutes. Right now, temperature is seventy eight at your officials,
Severe Weather Station, News Radio seven forty KTRH. It's time
(01:33):
out for the news. Here's Cliffsonders.
Speaker 7 (01:35):
Thank you, Jimmy. It is five oh one on KTRHR.
Top story. A third straight night of anti ice riots
in Los Angeles. We know that at least three officers
have been injured. We know there are dozens that have
been arrested, with President Trump weighing in, posting online to
(01:56):
quote bring in the troops and quote arrest the people
in face masks.
Speaker 4 (02:01):
Now.
Speaker 7 (02:02):
Meantime, California Governor Gavin Newsom is not helping things, demanding
Trump pull the National Guard. And then of course there's
the gas lighting.
Speaker 8 (02:11):
We see peaceful protests launching in Los Angeles.
Speaker 7 (02:15):
New Jersey Senator Corey Booker on NBC. By the way,
does this not remind you of the George Floyd riots
that they also tried to tell us were peaceful here
at home. The anti Ice protests were not contained. They
were in Houston as well, on a smaller scale.
Speaker 9 (02:30):
About one thousand people here with lots of shouts of
abolish Ice and free Palestine.
Speaker 7 (02:37):
Joseph Trimmer with Texas scorecard in the middle of it.
No word on any arrests. We also had a protest
in San Antonio.
Speaker 10 (02:44):
People were holding up signs saying things like abolish Ice
and immigrants make America great again. There were even chants
saying from Palestine to Mexico, all the walls have got
to go.
Speaker 7 (02:55):
Reporter Philip Sterling with the NBC station there. This all
comes as the president this new travel band goes into
place today. It involves at least a dozen countries, including Iran.
Speaker 11 (03:05):
These are countries that are not working with us to
vet individuals so that we know that they can be
safe and come into our country the right way, so
that we know who they are and that they are
coming here for the right reasons.
Speaker 7 (03:14):
Texas Congressman Ship Roy on Fox. Trump signed the ban
after the Boulder terrorist attack eight days ago. It's now
five h three. Elon Musk waited on the riots and
backed President Trump, saying that the violence is quote not okay,
and reposting a truth social post by Trump calling out
LA Mayor Karen Bass that said, the administration sounds like
(03:38):
it's turned the page on the whole Elon thing.
Speaker 12 (03:40):
The President's moving moving on. I think the president and
all of these headlines are are missing fact that the
president is the leader of this administration and the one
that is driving the agenda.
Speaker 7 (03:52):
OMB Director Russ Votes on Fox News Sunday. Reports say
there was an altercation that got physical between Musk and
treasure Te Secretary Scott Bessant, something the White House is downplaying.
So will Elon and Trump manage to get back on
the same page.
Speaker 6 (04:09):
Well, they mend the fences.
Speaker 13 (04:11):
Maybe will Elon go about his way and Trump go
about his way?
Speaker 4 (04:15):
Maybe I can.
Speaker 13 (04:16):
Tell you right now, Elon's the richest man on the planet.
Do you want credits, of course, but I really don't
think it's money in this instance.
Speaker 7 (04:22):
Republican strategist Matt Locke says that everyone who feuds with
Trump eventually makes up with him.
Speaker 14 (04:29):
Men.
Speaker 7 (04:29):
Then there's this ABC News forced to suspend reporter Terry
Moran for a since deleted post on social media calling
Trump and Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller world class haters.
Speaker 15 (04:42):
This is again coming from someone who is supposed to
be an unbiased and professional journalist. This is unacceptable and
unhinged rhetoric coming from someone who works at a major
television network.
Speaker 7 (04:53):
White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt's reaction there. It's now
five oh five. There are new mayors in two suburbs
after this weekend's runoff election. Carol McCutcheon was elected in Sugarland,
Thomas schoenbein in Pasadena. In San Antonio, Republican Rolando Pablos
loses to Democrat Gina Ortiz Jones in that city's mayoral race.
(05:17):
There was a lot of outside money that came in
to back the Democrat in that particular runoff. Ortiz Jones
only got fifty four percent of the vote, as Republicans
made a race in a blue city close.
Speaker 16 (05:29):
Republicans are running for seats historically held by Democrats, and
political analyst Mark Jones says they're having success.
Speaker 17 (05:36):
I think that's a trend that's going to continue throughout
the decade.
Speaker 16 (05:40):
Big question, he says, is whether they will have the
same success as Rolando Pablos, who forced to run off
against a Democrat. The other big cities run by liberals
are Houston and Austin, and he says those will be
hard nuts to crack in next year's elections. I'm Beth
Myers News Radio seven forty ktright and Beth.
Speaker 7 (05:58):
Texas uncovers voter fraud and land next year's election the
kind that the left says does not exist. Secretary of
State's office says thirty three potential non citizens actually voted
based on a federal citizenship database called save Reporter Aaron
Anderson says Texas was among the first states to use
the database.
Speaker 18 (06:17):
The data is helpful in both ways in flagging people
who may not be citizens and are are legally participating
in our Texas elections, and then also verifying that other
people are in fag citizens ineligible to vote.
Speaker 7 (06:28):
President Trump signed an executive order this year allowing all
states free access to the database for the first time.
Houston police busy this weekend conducting yet another rate on
an after hours club. Mayor John Wickmyer so.
Speaker 19 (06:43):
This is serious business, not to mention the cocaine, the
human trafficking, and many illicit activities. Right here in a
residential area on the north side of Houston.
Speaker 7 (06:57):
Ten people were arrested five oh seven. The Astros lose
in Cleveland four to two. They host the White Sox
tomorrow night and lead the Mariners by two and a
half games at the top of the Ale West. I'm
Cliff Saunders on Houston's news weather in traffic station news
Radio seven forty KTRH.
Speaker 20 (07:14):
I live in Conrad, I live in Deer Park.
Speaker 4 (07:16):
Next on the ten You're a reliable forecast on seven
forty KTRH. Five oh waters har time here on Houston's
Sporting News. All right, for all gen z Ers who
might be listening to our program, see if the shoe fits.
Gen Z likes to spend it money. Gen Z likes
(07:39):
to spend it. New research confirms they know they're being
judged by their boomer parents in the Internet, but in
their eyes, their free spending ways aren't their fault, of course,
not whether they say schools or to blame for not
setting them up with positive financial habits. Yes, gen Z
(08:01):
likes to splash the cash. The Caavia, you know clubs,
Lavish vacations, Taylor Swift tickets. They've been called out for
their dooms spending in the past, but they say it's
not their fault. It's not their fault that they didn't
learn anything about financial planning or being good stewards of
(08:23):
their own money. About two thirds of gen z say
they're viewed critically for how they spend their money, according
to new data from Young Enterprise in HSBC, the biggest
chunk thirty nine percent of the nineteen to twenty eight
year old surveys said they felt judged because their biggest
critics were their family. Yes, seventeen percent feel like they're
(08:44):
being side eyed by social media, but they're their defense,
They insist. They're trying to say they just don't know
how to do it. Well, you stop stop spending so much,
and you set the money aside. It's really not that hard.
About half lame a lack of financial education in schools.
And you know what, I think that might be a
legitimate concern right now that we have never really bothered
(09:07):
to teach financial literacy in schools. We always left it
up to parents to do it. In many cases, the
parents were not financially literate either. So if you're not
financially literate yourself, how you' you supposed to teach somebody
else to be financially literate. So maybe it is time
to include it in school curriculum. I think that's a
life skill that's worth passing on now. I don't know,
(09:29):
quite honestly, if the message really sinks into your typical
seventeen eighteen, nineteen year old kid, because at that age,
I think we all pretty much wanted what we wanted
when we wanted it. Very few who had not been
through a difficult childhood because of finances would have the
(09:50):
discipline to save money. But at least if we tried
to teach them, maybe they might learn something. At least
figure it out sooner versus later. Five ten time for
traffic and together general business in school. I don't know
if the general business or what they teach in general business.
To be honest with this guy, Mike, I think, you know,
if a financial literacy class for middle school there might
(10:10):
be a real good idea.
Speaker 5 (10:11):
I'm grown up classes too. Let's do some North freeway here.
Hang on, Jimmy, we're gonna get on the forty five North.
Just we're looking that way. See right there all right,
north Freeway outbound at A forty five and Tidwell. We
got kind of a back border slip on the outbound side. Uh,
let me get some laneage in the tim break here.
Let's go to our tip line. I've got Mike from
Huntsville tip line seven one three two one two t ips.
Speaker 21 (10:33):
Good morning, Scott. Mike just had a car past me
and Hyder plane and wreck into the wall on the.
Speaker 5 (10:40):
Left side of the southbound freeway right before eight.
Speaker 4 (10:47):
Seven Coves.
Speaker 5 (10:48):
I think that's yeah, seven Coves southbound, so watch out
for that.
Speaker 6 (10:51):
I'll get laneage on Tidwell shortly.
Speaker 4 (10:53):
Terry, did you take.
Speaker 6 (10:54):
Home economics in school.
Speaker 5 (10:56):
I'm in the USA Rvresorts dot Com traffic center from
Market from Market, from Market, our rage tom Taks to
Benders twenty four hour weather center.
Speaker 4 (11:05):
Terry's here. We'll get to the whole course in a
second here, But let's talk about that rain, because I
actually talk about storms. Yes, Devin and the north of
us they're getting some of that rain and obviously some
ponding going on.
Speaker 22 (11:17):
Yeah, okay, so you went to bed last night it
was all quiet, and you're waking up this morning. We've
got a severe thunderstorm watch that covers just about our
entire listing area, and it's because of this nasty line
of showers and storms that's way north of us at
the moment. Austin just saw some of those stronger storms,
but they're heading in our direction and weakening. That's the
(11:39):
good thing. So I don't know that it's going to
be too messy, but we are dealing with some rain.
We've got some showers and thunderstorms and pockets and you
might get some brief heavy rain or some gusty winds
with some of those this morning. So no need to
rush into work on a Monday morning, right, fifty percent
chance of these showers and storms definitely during the morning hours.
(12:01):
We may see them refire up later this afternoon. Another
warm day, load of mid nineties today. Now there's that
possibility of rain the next several days. The sixty percent
chance the showers and storms tomorrow and Wednesday, fifty percent
chants of more wet weather Thursday and Friday.
Speaker 7 (12:18):
Turn off the sprinklers. You're not gonna need them.
Speaker 22 (12:20):
Temperatures are going to be cooler, upper eighties to low
nineties tomorrow and then mid to upper nineties Wednesday, I
should say mid to upper eighties Wednesday and Thursday.
Speaker 4 (12:31):
Right down to eighty at your officials Severe Weather Station,
News Radio seven forty KTIH.
Speaker 3 (12:36):
It's Houston's Morning News, brought to you by New South
Windows Solutions. Now back to Jimmy Barrits and the Houston
Morning News team.
Speaker 4 (12:44):
All the info you need did take on the day.
It's just about five twenty here in Houston's Morning News.
All right, you heard about the jobs numbers that came
out on Friday, better than expected, especially considering the fact,
now think about this for a second, over fifty thousand
employees have been let go get the jobs grew at
the number higher than expected. Those jobs were not government jobs,
(13:08):
unlike the Biden administration. Those jobs were private sector jobs.
More than that story coming up next. First, though, this
check in again with Skymike.
Speaker 5 (13:16):
Looks like roads are becoming part of our traffic now,
I've looks like we got a little spinch of some
showers on two ninety just round Highway six, little smash
right around the Airport Bush Airport, East tex and North Belt,
and also right around little Skuncheam showers around Grand park
Way at Old that's a new ninety and even around
Lake Houston. So we're going to get an early start
(13:38):
this morning. Huntsville Mike gave us a wreck that was
on I forty five southbound at seven Coves, which is
eight thirty. Looks like we've got enough laneage to get by.
Let's do a quick tip line. This is Bruce from Porter.
Speaker 23 (13:50):
Got Mike thirteen fourteen Crant Road.
Speaker 3 (13:52):
There's been an eighteen wheel to wreck.
Speaker 5 (13:54):
All right, let me let the rest of the media
know about that. We're in the USA Rbresorts dot Com
traffic center.
Speaker 4 (14:00):
From our KTRH top tax Defenders twenty four hour weather center,
we do have a severe thunderstorm watching the facts for
the entire listening area. Scattered morning thunderstorms this morning, becoming
more widespread this afternoon, we're told, with the high temperature
about ninety four, mostly cloudy in the morning, and then
scattered afternoon storms tomorrow with the high eighty eight. Right now,
temperature is seventy eight. At your official severe weather station,
(14:23):
News Radio seven forty KTRH. It's time to get you
caught up on some of our top Monday morning stories.
Speaker 7 (14:28):
Here's clar Thank you, Jimmy, We've had a third straight
night of anti ice riots violent ones in Los Angeles.
According to reports, the US expects Russia to conduct multi
pronged strikes on Ukraine after its drone attack last week,

Speaker 4 (15:06):
Today, the Friday jobs number came out of a higher
number than expected. And that's a good thing, right, especially
considering the fact there have been federal layoffs. Kevin Hassett,
who is the National Economic Director, on Fox talking about
the pleasant surprise of seeing those numbers where they were
and the reasons why he thought those numbers were the
(15:28):
way they were.
Speaker 1 (15:29):
No, not at all.
Speaker 24 (15:30):
And the way I like to think about the numbers, Larry,
is that sort of all the fake things that people
have been saying about President Trump's economy were disproven today,
and so the way to think about it is there's
three months in a row where we've radically outperformed the expectation.
Remember the ADP number was thirty seven thousand. This is
a one hundred and forty thousand. But the point is
(15:51):
that if you go into the details, they're astonishingly exactly
what President Trump talked about on the Camp patrial. So,
for example, we've created about five hundred thousand jobs so
far since he's taken office. But while we've done that,
we've cut federal government workers by fifty thousand back when
President Biden was here, as you remember, is like half
the jobs every time we're coming from government workers. The
(16:13):
other thing people said is that if we enforce our borders,
we're not going to have enough workers, right, That's what
they were saying, because there aren't enough Americas to do
the jobs. Well, all of the job creation is native
born workers. And so what's happened is that this goes
back to your old friend George Bjaus, who has studied
and said that when illegals take jobs, then they take
the jobs away from the people who need them the most,
(16:35):
that are already in America. And so we're seeing that
in the job support too, And of course, coordflation right
now is the lowest has been by every indicator over
for more than four years, and wage growth is really high.
So this is Jobal Trump's economy, just like it was
in the seventeen, eighteen and nineteen.
Speaker 4 (16:50):
We're seeing it right now.
Speaker 25 (16:51):
The federal government has shed fifty nine thousand jobs since January.
And while that's been happening, Kevin, private payrolls are now
running ahead of their year ago twelve month average. I mean,
for example, this month, private payrolls up one hundred and
forty thousand. The twelve month average for private payrolls is
(17:12):
one hundred and twenty two. So you're starting to cross
the government stuff's coming down and the private stuff's coming up.
Speaker 4 (17:19):
We haven't even had the bill pass.
Speaker 25 (17:21):
Yet, but I think in anticipation of that we're seeing.
The shift in the economy is very important.
Speaker 24 (17:27):
Yeah, it's a really profound shift of the economy. And
there's this old famous paper in economics Larry where they
say what happens when a government worker loses their job,
and they looked at state level experiences. At the bottom
line is that usually if the federal government workers are
you know, they're hardworking, a lot of them are highly skilled,
(17:49):
but they're sitting, you know, doing government work that isn't
much value. And then when they lose their government job,
which happened in the past because of state cuts, that
it usually creates about two jobs, one for them and
one for someone else, because actually, if you put them
to work in the private sector, that it's great for
them and great for the private sector. And so I
think we're starting to see that. I imagine we got
fifty thousand fewer federal government workers and private sector jobs
(18:11):
are through the roof, and it's exactly what we've seen
in the literature before.
Speaker 4 (18:14):
Okay, so we're the private sector jobs. That's always part
of the story, right. Healthcare reliable job generator of the
last couple of years led in the employment gains non unemployment.
The employment gains sixty two thousand new healthcare positions, Leisure
and hospitality added forty eight thousand. Of course, we're in
the summer travel season now, but we did see some
(18:37):
losses in professional and business services down eighteen thousand jobs.
Retail lost sixty five hundred jobs, Manufacturing lost eight thousand jobs.
That may be a temporary glitch because of tariff concerns
right now. There's a whole lot of areas where some
more hiring will likely take place once we get past
all the tariff stuff and the deals are put together.
(18:59):
However long that may take. It's taking a little longer
I think than a lot of us expected it would.
Five twenty six. You're on news radio seven forty KTRH.
It is time to take a look at your money
as we check in with Jeff Bellinger and.
Speaker 26 (19:10):
Jimmy Good Morning. This report is sponsored by Total Wine
and more. Investors focus will shift from jobs to inflation
this week. The May consumer price indecks will be released
on Wednesday. Economists say it may show that tariffs were
starting to have an impact on the cost of some items.
The May employment report was not as bad as some
experts feared. It showed the job market slowing at a
(19:33):
gradual pace that gave stocks a boost. On Friday, the
major averages all closed more than one percent higher. One
more look at the job market is on the way
this morning. The Conference Board's Employment Trends indecks will be
out after the market's open. Stock market futures are mixed.
Nasdaq futures a little bit lower, s and P and
Dow futures a little bit higher. I'm Jeff Bellinger, Bloomberg

Speaker 4 (20:17):
It's five thirty. You're on Houston's Morning News. I'm Jimmy Barrett.
Among our top stories this half hour, the Los Angeles
mayor blames the riding on Trump, Will DEI hires make
the citizens less safe? And coming up at five thirty eight,
was there an actual physical altercation featuring Elon Musk and
the Treasury Secretary? Details in the minutes ahead. You're on
(20:39):
Houston's Morning News. First, we're checking out that morning vibe
with skymke.
Speaker 5 (20:42):
Dude, here comes that rain, Jimmy, of course, to the
northwest side to forty nine two ninety.
Speaker 6 (20:47):
You're getting some around.
Speaker 5 (20:48):
Highway six north side, right around Bush Airport, East tex
showing up some showers too, So we got to turn
your s news off this morning. We've got laneage on
the North Freeway outbound tied. Well, that's one, two, three,
eight lines. Things are getting ugly. This is outbound, not inbound.
And thirteen fourteen at Crichton Road, Bruce from Porter with
banana sticker.
Speaker 6 (21:08):
That is an eighteen wheeler accident.
Speaker 4 (21:09):
Let's avoid that spot.

From our KTRH Generator super Center, twenty four hour weather

this morning for the next couple of hours. We do
have a chance of a scattered shower at thunderstorm today
with the high temperature right about ninety three. We'll take
a look at the rest of the forecast in detail
with Terry Smith the Weather Channel in about nine minutes.
Right now, it's eighty at your official severe weather station,
(21:36):
News Radio seven forty k TRH. It's time now for
the news. Here's Cliff Saunders.
Speaker 7 (21:41):
Hey you Jimmy. It's five thirty one on KTRHR.
Speaker 4 (21:44):
Top story. Well, we're gonna have coops everywhere.
Speaker 21 (21:46):
We're not going to let this happen to our country.
Speaker 2 (21:48):
We're not going to let our.
Speaker 28 (21:49):
Country be Florida.
Speaker 7 (21:50):
Part President Trump not backing off, having National Guard troops
in La where we have had a third consecutive night
of violet anti ice riots. A major highway was blocked.
We know that they have been a dozen arrests, at
least three police officers were injured. But to hear LA
Mayor Karen Bass tell it, this is all Donald Trump's fault.
Speaker 29 (22:11):
It is completely unnecessary.
Speaker 30 (22:13):
And one of the things that I expressed to the
administration is.
Speaker 29 (22:16):
Is that our city has experienced massive.
Speaker 31 (22:19):
Civil unrest before I was here in ninet ninety.
Speaker 7 (22:22):
Two, Bass on the Fox affiliate in La. The National
Guard was called in because LAPD apparently took two hours
to respond to the violence when it started on Friday.
Police denying the delayed response. And while the left blames
Trump for all of this, maybe they should look at
the last guy that was in the White House because
(22:43):
Joe Biden's DEI didn't help things.
Speaker 32 (22:46):
Getting rid of intelligence tests and hiring based on race
created more problems.
Speaker 14 (22:50):
The types of people that you have aren't able to
do things like fill out police supports. That creates problems
for prosecutions.
Speaker 32 (22:59):
John Law of Crime Prevention Research Center says it makes
it less risky for criminals and reversing the trend will
take time.
Speaker 14 (23:06):
You had a lot of these policies kind of locked in.
It's much more difficult to undo what's already been done.
Speaker 4 (23:12):
He says.
Speaker 32 (23:12):
Many departments also moved this direction on their own, making
it harder. Andre Pararden New's Radio seven forty KTRH.
Speaker 7 (23:18):
Thank you. Andre. There were smaller anti ice protests both
here in Houston and in San Antonio as well yesterday.
More on those coming up at six o'clock. Although we
will tell you that rioters did yell free Palestine, at
least at the Houston march. It is now five point
thirty three on KTRH.
Speaker 33 (23:37):
I didn't go out to craft a piece of legislation
to please the richest man of the world. What we're
trying to do is help hard work in Americans.
Speaker 7 (23:44):
How Speaker Mike Johnson on ABC talking about President Trump's
budget plans. The White House downplaying a liberal Washington Post
report that said Musk got into a physical confrontation with
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant. The White House called it a
dis agreement, not a fistfight. Runoff elections across Texas over
the weekend, so a Democrat, Gina Ortiz Jones the outsider
(24:08):
barely beat Republican Rolando Pablos to become the new mayor
in San Antonio. Closer to US, new mayors were elected
in Sugarland and Pasadena. Now, the midterms are a year away,
but Texas Senator John Cornyn is already facing a deep
pole against Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.
Speaker 34 (24:27):
But Rice University's Mark Jones, who recently did his own poll, says.
Speaker 35 (24:32):
With any poll, you always have to ask the question
who funded the poll and was done by supporters of
Ken Paxton.
Speaker 34 (24:40):
Numbers that do not include the rumors that Houston Congressman
Wesley Hunt may enter the rays.
Speaker 17 (24:46):
Wesley Hunt would change the dynamics of the race. He
has a very safe seat in Congress, so he doesn't
need to really make any decisions until at least November.

It is now five point thirty five and looking at
your money, new research finds that one in three Houston
residents making less than one hundred grand a year couldn't
come up with the four hundred bucks to handle a
sudden expense. Business and money expert Derek Kinney says, the
problem is so many of us are living paycheck to paycheck.
Speaker 29 (25:20):
Still, So many people are living paycheck to paycheck and
the unexpected expense.
Speaker 31 (25:26):
Comes up, it forces them to go.
Speaker 4 (25:28):
To the credit card.
Speaker 31 (25:30):
More and more.
Speaker 29 (25:30):
People have less and less in checking, and they typically
have nothing in savings.
Speaker 7 (25:35):
He says, sudden, very common, big expenses like unexpected home
or car repairs, can send you into a financial tail spin. Meantime,
social Security claims are expected to rise by fifteen percent
this year. That's more than a half million more than
last year, and some of them are starting to collect
as early as the age of sixty two, and that
(25:56):
could be the result of the fear mongering by the
mainstream media.
Speaker 31 (25:59):
So I think we have.
Speaker 36 (26:00):
It's kind of an uptick in people considering taking it earlier,
and kind of the false the false impression that you know,
they may lose out if they don't claim benefits now,
and that's actually a false impression.
Speaker 7 (26:12):
Amx Russell Glore says, remember you get the most benefits
if you wait until you're seventy start taking Social Security. Meantime,
gen z literally can't grow up, and some of them
are actually taking classes on how to be an adult.
Speaker 23 (26:27):
Motivational speaker Scott Curley says part of the problem is
helicopter parents constantly doing and fixing things who may need
to step back.
Speaker 31 (26:35):
If they find themselves in they'll be so fixes for them.
Speaker 1 (26:38):
Let them make the mistake, because.
Speaker 37 (26:39):
There's no way that they're going to learn so if
they don't understand the importance and consequences.

Speaker 4 (27:13):
These Radio seven k t r H five thirty eight
start time here in Houston's Porting news. Why do I
get the feeling that the that the the Trump must
thing is going on national inquiry. Some of the stories
I'm seeing about, you know, the the dust up, the
(27:33):
breakup are just they're getting crazier all the time. One
story claims that President Trump supposedly said that Elon Musk
quote is a big time drug addict, and that really
felt that the a physical fight between Musk and Treasury
(27:55):
Secretary Scott Bessett was quote unquote too much. Trump also
reportedly is cast. Insiders said the White House to be
careful with Musk, telling Jdvans to be cautious when speaking
about the fallout, and of course President Trump's have tried
to avoid it at this point at all costs. Now
the physical altercation. Supposedly what happened was that there was
(28:17):
this big argument between Elon Musk and Scott Besson, and
Scott Besson said something about how Elon hadn't found the
trillion dollars worth of wasteful and fraudulate government spending like
he said he would. They were kind of exchanging insults
with each other after meeting with President Trump, and after
(28:38):
Bessett made his remarks that Musk hadn't succeeded in doing
what he said he was going to do, Musk ended
up shoving his shoulder into Besson's ribs kind of like
a football player or a rugby player, and Besson responded
with blows whatever that means, which Trump said was just
too much. So evidently there was some sort of physical
(29:00):
altercation between the two. I saw Caroline love It, the
White House Press secretary, over the weekend on Fox and
she was asked about it, and you could tell she
was a little nervous about it. You could you could
tell that she was. She didn't deny that it happened.
You know, she's going out of her way not to
talk about it, but she you could tell she wasn't
(29:20):
denying that it happened. So something physical happened between those two. Yeah,
I bet that kind of stuff happens a lot more
often than we think it does.
Speaker 39 (29:31):
Now.
Speaker 4 (29:31):
As far as whether or not there's gonna be a
you know, a makeup between Trump and Mosque, who knows.
You know, you're talking about a couple of pretty big
egos here, and my guess is that, you know, they
both think they can live without each other just fine.
So I wouldn't I wouldn't be surprised if there's no
you know, makeup over you know, whatever, whatever the falling
up was, and there's a lot of things supposedly behind
(29:52):
the falling out, one of which evidently was that Eli
Musk wanted his buddy to be NASA director and he wasn't.
Despite Elon musk encouragement, Jared Isaacman was not nominated for
NASA Administrator, which upset Elon Musk. So I don't know. Yeah,
(30:16):
there's probably a few things behind it all. Five forty.
Time for traffic and weather together as we check out
the drive again. Sky Mike's here.
Speaker 5 (30:22):
My little pocket radar is going crazy here, Jimmy, Uh,
to the northwest and to the north and now I'm

Speaker 6 (30:31):
They've cleared the wreck. Did well, that was outbound.
Speaker 5 (30:34):
I can't say we're back at full speed though, because
we've got some wet freeways right here.
Speaker 6 (30:38):
Let's turn everybody snooze off. Drake from Texas.
Speaker 29 (30:41):

but apparently clear Lake Webster, League City.

Nicol Salmon in Montgomery County.
Speaker 5 (31:29):
Oh, there we go North Freeway right there, right to Terry.
I'm in the Generator Supercenter dot Com Traffic Center.
Speaker 4 (31:34):
From r ktr H Generator super Center twenty four hour
whether the center Terry is here. We are getting some
rained at least in the northern suburbs right now, and
I think it's popping up in a few other places.
To Terry.
Speaker 22 (31:44):
Yeah, what I'm seeing is mainly north of Interstate ten
for the most part, and it's it's kind of spotty
in nature. But where we have some of those showers
and storms. There are some heavier rain. It's inside, it'll
be brief. It's kind of like hit and miss at
the moment. But there's a fifty percent chance of showers
(32:07):
and thunderstorms today and temperatures are still going to be
on the warm side in the load of mid nineties
this afternoon. Now we're dealing with rain. It looks like
just about every day this week. A sixty percent chance
of more showers and storms tomorrow and Wednesday, fifty percent
chance of getting wet Thursday and Friday. Over the course
(32:27):
of the next several days. This you know, rain's going
to accumulate. We're going to wind up with a pretty
good soaking. A generally two to four inch amounts of
rain will fall total.
Speaker 7 (32:39):
By the time this all kind of eases up toward
the end of the week.
Speaker 4 (32:42):
Temperature right now, thanks to the rain moving through, is
kind of dropped it down just a little bit. Seventy

Speaker 3 (32:55):
This is Houston's morning News, brought to you by New
South Windows Solution five fifties. Our time here in Houston's
pointing too, so earlier this hour in the show, I
brought this gen Z feels like they're judged for how
they spend their money because they they like to spend
their money and not necessarily on things that you or
(33:16):
I would spend money on. But they hate it's their money,
I guess right. But the problem I have is they
like to blame either their parents for not teaching them
about how to be responsible with money, or even more
than the parents, because sometimes the parents don't know it either,
and you can't teach something you don't know, they blame
the schools. So I think we're gonna have a Question
of the Day coming up some comments from the Big
(33:38):
Money Show folks on Fox Business about this gen Z
money problem, and we'll get your thoughts with our question
today about who you think is to blame for gen
Z having money issues. First though, traffic and weather together
as we check out the drive once again, Skuy Mike,
you can't get that pocket great out of work.
Speaker 4 (33:56):
Huh's showing me some pretty you know what?
Speaker 5 (33:59):
I know it's working on the northeast side here, Jimmy,
this is both sides of Lake Houston. The it Taska
Seed to side the Crosby Sideboy, that's looking like some
heavy rain, so that's going to mess you up if
you're trying to come down the east text and also
New ninety be ready for it. We got to turn
everybody snooze off. Thirteen fourteen imported. This is a real
nasty wreck here eighteen wheeler. Let's avoid thirteen fourteen Crichton Road.
(34:22):
We cleared the North Freeway airline in front of Fiesta.
That wreck has gone, and we got a new problem
in west Loop six' ten FOUR us. Southbound here's the.

some time here In Houston's ping. News it was a
topic on The Big Money. Show this this poll showing
THAT i guess about sixty three. PERCENT i think it
was of gen. Z ors know that they have a spending,
problem but they don't blame themselves for having the spending.
Problem they feel like they're judged by their parents and
(36:09):
my other people and how they spend their. Money and
most of the, time thirty nine percent of them said
it's family that's judging them for how they're spending their.
Money so here they're having a discussion about that On
The Big Money.
Speaker 41 (36:20):
Show and now this Gen zers are experiencing what they're
calling a quarter life, crisis not midlife quarter, life and
this stems from high living costs and being influenced into
debt through social. Media this comes as sixty three percent
of the generation claims they feel judged for how they
spend with thirty nine percent of that judgment coming from
their own. Families of, course Gen z says schools are

that couldn't do, that didn't have the time to do.
Speaker 20 (37:40):
That so at some POINT i do think that it.
Speaker 42 (37:42):
Does fall upon our education, system which is WHY i
think so many People brian can speak to this don't
trust our education system right now because they are failing
in learning basic life necessities like balancing an income statement
and an expense.
Speaker 7 (37:58):
Statement right right on to.
Speaker 41 (38:00):
You you, know these people in their twenties are facing
double the costs for buying a. House Right millennials have
forty thousand dollars on average in debt from.
Speaker 7 (38:10):
COLLEGE i, mean what do you say to.
Speaker 28 (38:11):
This, WELL i think it's a tragedy that in this
country we have both had politicians leaders who have made
it their desire to get kids into college and then
saddle them with, debt and on the other, hand a
government that has encouraged all of that that has sent
all this money their. Way but you know the quarter life,
Crisis why do you have to view it as a.
(38:32):
Crisis why don't you view that as an opportunity to
get things?
Speaker 4 (38:35):
Right, yeah, well at some point you should learn. Right
so here's my. Question you can go to The iHeart

responsible with? Money is? It is it Gen z's personal?
Fault is it their parents fault for not teaching? Them

tougher than he thought it. Would be he couldn't just
go in there and wave his hands and make things
happen or make programs disappear like he thought maybe. He
(53:00):
could he wasn't able to find the trillion dollars in

matt i mean you take a look at, the EVIDENCE
and i Just think elon's frustrated or became frustrated by
what he could and couldn't do with the. Federal.
Speaker 13 (55:07):
Government, well yeah he was asked to do a very
a very minute TASK or i shouldn't say my new
but a very specific task for finding wayte fraud. And
abuse you, Find it congress doesn't do anything. WITH it
i think i'd be.
Speaker 4 (55:22):
Upset, too okay but do you think that maybe he
didn't find as much as he thought he would or
thought he would have a little bit more control over
eliminating some of. THAT stuff i don't KNOW the i.
Speaker 13 (55:33):
Don't know the back workings, of IT but i would
honestly think he probably found more than they wanted. Him
to government's a really weird instrument or animal in all.
Of this and when you start pulling on threads of
NGOs and usaid and fraud and waste of the people
who have been in power and lobbyists to run, OUR
government i think HE got i think Someone, told, trump
(55:54):
look let's let's set.
Speaker 4 (55:55):
This aside we don't need all, of, This okay so
you know that would that, makes sense and that would
explain at least a little bit About Why elon musk
would Be. Mythed trump, of course there's some other stories
that if he had a guy he wanted to see
become the HEAD of nasa who didn't get, the job
and he was upset, by that he might have been
a little upset by the By the Big, beautiful bill
(56:16):
The Big abomination bill is he would like to, call
it because it didn't it didn't cut waste as much
as he hoped, it would but maybe, more importantly it
took away some ev tax credits that his company.
Speaker 13 (56:25):
Relies on, you know everybody's making this out TO be
i think Financially, for elon but the dude's worth like
four hundred and fifty. BILLION dollars i don't think money.
MOTIVATES him i think in, THE end I think elon
sees That if america's, not around he doesn't have the
ability to Get.
Speaker 4 (56:44):
TO mars i think he.
Speaker 13 (56:46):
Is infatuated or he's honed in on ACTUALLY using SpaceX
to do what he said he's going, to do and
that's Get.
Speaker 4 (56:54):
To mars And colonize mars and do.
Speaker 13 (56:56):
That Stuff if, america falls if it's, not here then
he doesn't have the ability to.
Speaker 4 (57:00):
DO that i think that's a lot OF what i think. Motivates,
Them okay so do you think that He and trump
kiss and make up at some point OR what? I do?
Speaker 39 (57:09):
I mean?
Speaker 13 (57:09):
I do i mean if you go back in History
To alexander Hamilton And, john adams they were two, very
hardheaded two very intelligent men who fought, a lot but
in the end died very. Close FRIENDS so i think
that the Friendship Of elon Musk And donald trump wins in.
Speaker 4 (57:24):
The, end okay so you think that the friendship, is
legitimate that they their relationship began on an honest assessment
of who, they were and they actually appreciated, each other
not necessarily, for politics but for who they were.
Speaker 36 (57:37):
As.
Speaker 13 (57:37):
People, Well absolutely and you saw all the pictures of,
You know elon's little boy running Around with trump and
Getting on, marine ONE and i think there was a
very legitimate relationship there that did for him on who.
Speaker 4 (57:50):
They Were elon musk is a. Brilliant guy he just
goes about it in a, different way, you.
Speaker 13 (57:53):
Know being with you know where he's at on whatever
scale of autism that. He has he's just a. Different

Had done that remember that he. Was ordered deported the
only flaw in the order was where.
Speaker 30 (01:07:24):
He was sent not whether. He was SENT and so
i think he may spend a long. Time in prison if,
he's found guilty. He's presumed innocent but if, he's found
guilty he's going to spend a long time in prison
complaining about his ideological radical lawyers who made a hero
out of him and try to get him Back To
the united states when that was not in his. Own

Can do both that's the problem with what. The lawyers
did they're going to. Have a trial, if he's. Convicted
they're happy but, if he's acquitted they can still bring
the deportation charges because the standard of.
Speaker 4 (01:08:22):
Proof very.
Speaker 30 (01:08:23):
Different deportation charges all they would have to do is
to port him to a country where he could not
make a plausible claim that. He's in dangered so from
the government's, point of view it's a win win to do.
Speaker 6 (01:08:35):
It this way.
Speaker 4 (01:08:35):
There you go they. Can't lose either they get him
convicted of, the criminal charges which proves all along what
a criminal he was and the reason why they were
deporting him. To begin with but you don't even need
to have him be increminal. To deport him. He's here
illegally you could still deport him after the trial even
if he's found innocent because. He's here illegally hello six

terry moran who's been suspended by the network for some
of the tweets. He, sent, out.
Speaker 15 (01:15:15):
Well look when this, STORY originally broke i said from
the podium that there have definitely been healthy disagreements amongst
The Cabinet. And elon musk there were times in which
they got frustrated. With ONE another but i think that
really speaks to the heart of this Cabinet in, the
president's team that they can have these robust disagreements and
(01:15:36):
then still come together.
Speaker 20 (01:15:37):
To do what's right for the people.

think it's unfortunate that now that he's gone back, to
his companies he is lambasting this bill that he was
very much supportive of. BY all, accounts i mean he
never spoke out against it until he went back. To
his companies. And that's okay he has a right to speak.
For his Companies but the President And the treasury secretary

Today You Bet so the, national guard is there it's
under the direction, of the federal government because Evidently The
mayor of los angeles And the governor of California Doesn't want.
The national guard there they'd rather. LET the city. Burn
i guess.
Speaker 21 (01:42:04):
Yeah it's they've not taken the responsibility that they are
are sworn to uphold to Protect The. Citizens of los angeles.
Speaker 1 (01:42:12):
They would rather.
Speaker 21 (01:42:13):
Coddle uh these protests and, let's just face it it's
not a protest when you burn down cyberclbs or whatever
the heck those things are out there that are torched
last night. That we all saw it is not a
protest when you throw fireworks or rocks at. Police or
police cars and, so, that the city uh and the
(01:42:34):
state and we will all watched them circle the drain
for the, last decade or so and now this is
another opportunity for them to step. Up and show leadership and.
Speaker 1 (01:42:41):
What do they Do They.
Speaker 21 (01:42:42):
Complain about donald trump they complain about the lawful activity
performed by federal offers is in, the FORM of ice THE,
dea and the Fbi Who are in los angeles for
one purpose to meet the mandate that. The voters voted
for in this last election to remove criminal Aliens From
(01:43:02):
cities like los angeles and other cities and Towns All.
Over the United States and so los angeles had a
chance here to show the world they weren't as terrible
as they, look mostly on television but. They Didn't Take
it and gavin Newson Wants to blame donald. Trump for
the chaos while he's, asking these, renom Obs you, know
(01:43:25):
the antifa types he's asking. Them to stand down, at the,
same time he's ridiculous and his public comments and his
action as. A, leader prove.
Speaker 4 (01:43:35):
It yeah he's calling it a manufactured crisis, by the,
federal government you know because. Of our immigration policy virtually.
Everybody who's been arrested there's been been quite a list
of people who've been arrested during This Ice, operation of
los angeles and most of them have a rap sheet
longer than both. Both of our arms so we're. Not
we're arresting again we're arresting people you would like to
(01:43:56):
think That The people of los angeles would not want
to have. On their street eats and of course, the
result of, this as you said is you've got a
basically a bunch of anarchists who are being paid off
by socialists to show up in to write and to
set things on fire in the city that had a
wildfire that did great damage to it. Not that long
ago you would think the last thing they Want To
see in los angeles right. Now, is more.
Speaker 21 (01:44:17):
Fires yeah NO doubt, and like, i said you know
this is an opportunity For The leadership In los angeles
and california at.
Speaker 4 (01:44:27):
Large to step up.
Speaker 21 (01:44:28):
They didn't do it, and let's, face it you know
like Where you're at in houston and most Cities, and
Towns In, america including los angeles the hard working folks that,
get up, every day you know and put their eight
or nine or ten hours in and grind away so
they can put, food on the table send their kids
to a decent school. In a decent neighborhood they're Not
out there doing they're not PROTESTING. Isis presence in la
(01:44:52):
this is a manufactured crisis by the left of people
with masks on who want, to burn things down who
want to tour, our cities and towns, not because you
know they're trying to, protect illegal alien criminals which is
what they're, kind of actually doing but just because, they
believe In Chaos and Obviously Gavin newsom hates donald trump
(01:45:14):
more than he Loves The. People, of los.
Speaker 4 (01:45:15):
ANGELES yeah no doubt i mean that there's an attempt.
To overthrow the government that's all. There is to it
that's why these. These Protests are, continuing that you're right
it has nothing to do with. Protecting illegal alien criminals
it has everything to. Do with. Creating chaos.
Speaker 21 (01:45:31):
That's right, and let's, face it you KNOW the activity
that i and other federal agencies are engaged in is
designed to, protect all of us to take these criminals
off the street.
Speaker 1 (01:45:44):
And send them back.
Speaker 21 (01:45:44):
From where they Came And people like karen bass who
want to denounce the, president and The Policy people like
kim jeffries who want to go out and call the
president all kinds of, names and, talk about you know
DOCSING and identifying the ice agents who, are doing lawful
Activity Both of Which Hakeem jeffries and karen bass when
She was in the house funded as part of their

to do it.
Speaker 4 (01:55:32):
And do, it now of.
Speaker 60 (01:55:33):
Course Half of the gen Zers that voted for kamala
are going To Blame it, on donald trump anyway because. It's,
never their fault.
Speaker 4 (01:55:42):
Well there's some blame to go around with the. Parents,
over indulging parents true and the parents had time to buy,
them lots of goodies but didn't necessarily have time to
teach them. A, Thing or two, maybe but then again,
in fairness to parents it's hard to teach responsible spending
if you're not. A responsible spender, Yourself and you know
(01:56:02):
i'm a part of. The baby boomer generation we spent
a lot. When we were younger we spent, money we,
didn't have you know but at least we figured that.
Out at some point, Let's, Get Another one Hey.
Speaker 61 (01:56:11):
Jimmy sean from pasadena we had. It in high school
we had A High class called senior survival where they
taught us all these things about cooking and money and
how to down balance and checkbook. All, those fun things
yes we got, it at home too but it was
nice to.
Speaker 4 (01:56:29):
Get IT at school and i don't, disagree with that
because for, NO other reason then i think there's enough
adults out there who never really learned much about finances
and really don't have the skill set. To teach their
kids so, that being the case where else are they
going to learn if they don't, learn it in school
(01:56:50):
learning the ins, and outs, OF finance personal finance i
think it'd be a lot certainly makes a lot more
sense than some of these other programs that they. RUN in,
our schools i mean that's a basically life skill. We
need to teach seven forty time for traffic and leather
together struck. Up the Drive again here's Skuy Mike.

los angeles seven fifty two is Our time here. In
houston's morning. News cars are burning that always. Is fun
to see after wildfire has destroyed So Much of, the
los angeles area you would think that the rioters would
have at. Least a little pity people are STILL suffering
from some, ptsd over those wildfires but not. Setting stuff

Of Course not Fbi special Agent And navy seal, jonathan
gilliam joins us what do you think? Is, Behind, ALL
this jonathan well i think it's.
Speaker 39 (02:02:23):
DEFINITELY an organized group i don't know if they, have
a specific name but we. See the same people what's
it fascinating is when you look at the front line where,
they have the police and you'll have people right. Up
on their face you will see people, with the same,
helmets the same clothes looking. At each other talking there's people,
(02:02:46):
yelling at the cops but. Watch the other. People they
are coordinating they. Are trained to coordinate, when somebody starts
fighting there'll be somebody will come in, there will stop
it and then they. Go back to harassing and these
are all techniques that we've seen employed exactly the same
all over the country.
Speaker 4 (02:03:04):
FOR ten, YEARS now i mean i.
Speaker 39 (02:03:08):
Think Whether, you call them antifa whether you Call them
activists for, palestinians or gay rights it's the same people
that jump on board. With all these causes, and while the,
group the large group may be made, up of different
people it's the people, who organize, these things instigate them
(02:03:30):
and control. Them and fund them those people they fly.
All over THE country and while, I can't tell you
i don't have the evidence to say, EXACTLY who they
are i. Know That they themselves In time magazine in february,
of twenty twenty one there was an Article Where they
the democrat party said themselves that they can start a party.
(02:03:53):
Or a protest anywhere, they didn't stay right they, left
that part out but anywhere in the, country within two hours,
they can, fund it staff it and put people.
Speaker 4 (02:04:02):
There to control it so are You suggesting that the?
Democrats are behind it are you suggesting that perhaps somebody
who's Just very Involved with democrats and democrat causes. MIGHT
be behind. It I, don't know george sourrows somebody with
a whole lot of money who wouldn't mind seeing a
little chaos, from. COAST to coast.
Speaker 39 (02:04:20):
Don't i don't think from. AT the top levels i
don't think, you can. SEPARATE that, you know i Mean Maybe,
you know uncle joe Who's a blue dog democrat.
Speaker 4 (02:04:29):
From way.
Speaker 39 (02:04:29):
Back when you know i'm not saying that, he's involved
in it but the people who run Fund Actually, direct the,
democrat party, the, loyalist, The leftist socialist communist marxist it's
tard to believe. We're SAYING those words but i definitely
think that those, people are behind, this and they're, organized
(02:04:50):
and we see we see how good. They are, at
this the signs the signs, that they hold up, the
words to say the, phrases that they say all, these
things are uniformed and they happen within.
Speaker 4 (02:05:04):
Literally a couple hours. You have people THERE you said
on x that you thought this was about? Instigating a
civil war do. YOU still think so.
Speaker 39 (02:05:13):
I think they've been trying to do that. For, quite
A while yeah AND i think, they i, Think That
you know, president trump's first term it was. A push
towards that but if you look at the things that
are occurring in the, verbiage that they're Using it's exactly
like hamas Uses over with The. Palestinian people against israel
they embed themselves. Here within good people look at look
(02:05:36):
at the. People protests down There they're. All wearing palestinian
headgear they're all out, there with, the same you know
the same raps On. Their head as palestinians so the
people that the guy who burned Up, the people in
colorado the individual that shot the Two.
Speaker 4 (02:05:54):
People from THE.
Speaker 39 (02:05:55):
Israeli embassy in dc they were, saying the same words
they were, chanting the same things and they're trying to turn,
it where it's altruistic where they can convince people that
they're doing the greater good instead of forcing people to.
Do things through fear it's worked. Here as usually works,
that's the new. Tactic but it's, not it's new here
but it's not. New around, the, world all.
Speaker 4 (02:06:16):
