Speaker 1 (00:00):
Six twenty three hour time here in Houston's Brning News.
All right, Uh, like I said, Mexico fun place to
go to. Well, it used to be a fun place
to go to. Now it's kind of a dangerous place
to go to. And according to reports, we have one
of the main drug cartels now in Mexico threatening Americans
in Los Cabos. You know, we're told the town's kind
of run like the mob would run a town. At
(00:22):
this point. The cartels are in charge and they're threatening
people where they're there's tourists or Americans who are living there.
There's a fair amount of Americans who you know in
the decades past have moved to Mexico. Are they in danger?
What can we do to protect them? Should you go
to Los Cabo's on a vacation or anywhere else in Mexico?
Jason Jones joins US former Texas DPS captain. He's now
(00:43):
with Newsmax. He's their Newsmax's border corresponding, Jason, would you
go there on vacation right now?
Speaker 2 (00:51):
Uh? Well, good morning, it's going to be with you. No,
I would not.
Speaker 1 (00:55):
How dangerous do you think it is?
Speaker 2 (00:59):
Well, yeah, look at the totality what's taking place in
Mexico right now. The pressure by the United States government
and the pressure by the Mexican government upon these cartels
is unprecedented right now. And I can tell you that
as somebody that's in better with the Mexican forces, not once,
not twice, but three times this year. What is happening
right now is they're putting pressure on these cartels. They
(01:22):
have lost billions of dollars billions and the lack of
human smuggling, human trafficking along with fentanyl and other drugs
crossing their northern border into the United States, and so
as they have lost a lot of money, their extortions
have gone up, and this is part of that. Now,
when you talk about these cartel mantras or these banners,
(01:42):
these threats against the US, what you need to know
is that this is all a part of their frustration.
They're angry, and they should be angry. They have heard
a lot of Mexican citizens, they have heard a lot
of American citizens, and now they're the best of the
best in the world are coming for them. And this
is part of that pushback as they try to fight
their way out of this, and they're not going to
(02:03):
be able.
Speaker 1 (02:04):
To knowing what they do. However, for a living, these
are not idle threats, correct they intend to have.
Speaker 2 (02:10):
Oh well, you know, you never know. That's the problem.
That's the real issue. You know, these mantras are a
propaganda tool and everyone you know needs to understand that.
But you never know what's going to happen with these individuals,
and as they fracture and as they break down, you know,
Cabos and Lucas as you're talking about, supposedly under the
control of a new cell known as Lost Chapizas, which
(02:33):
is basically part of Cartel Holisco, new generation most violent
cartel in Mexico and part of the Sinaloa cartel. So
that's the issue. You don't know. And when these cartels
fight like they are but then also feel this external pressure,
you never know what's going to happen next, and so
when that's taking place, you got to listen to what
they say. Whether you want to believe it or whether
(02:54):
you don't, it doesn't matter. They're just in a bad
place right now based on everything that's taken. And that's why,
to be very frank you asked me, should Americans go
and my answer is no, not with everything going on
the way they are.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
Would you say that for the entire country or just
for Cabo San Lucas.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
No, just for Cabo right now, you know other areas
you know, I would not say that. I am very impressed.
And look, I want to be clear here. I have
been the man who's the architect behind designating these cartels
as terrace. I have talked badly about Mexico for eight
years publicly, but I'm very impressed with the Shinbaum administration
(03:30):
and what we call Phase one, what they have accomplished
in the pressure they're putting on these cartels, working with
the United States, and they have done amazing work. And
your audience needs to know that. I mean, we're talking
about over fifteen hundred mega labs in Mexico, taking down
thirty four thousand apprehensions, the seizure of two hundred and
eighty three point five tons of drugs. This is in
(03:53):
less than one year. And I could go on and on.
They've lowered homicides by thirty two percent. That's twenty seven
people whose lives are now being saved because of the
terrorism designation and what the Mexican government is doing. But
when that happens we see the one crime area going
up in Mexico. Everything else everyone needs to know is
dropping with crime, but one is going up, and that's
(04:16):
the extortions. When you have the overlay of these banners
in certain areas, I think you do need to take
the heed of the warning that's being put out.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
Okay, appreciate all the information, Jason, Thank you for your time.
Jason Jones former Texas DPS captain. He's now Newsmax Border correspondent.
