Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, it turns out we've been arresting a lot of
illegals here in the Greater Houston are. In fact, we're
leading the nation and at large ICE arrest in the community.
Jared Woodfield joins US Conservative Republicans of Texas. Do you
think we're arresting so many because we're so good at it,
or ICE is so good at it, or we're giving
enough cooperation to ICE, or do we just have that
many illegals in the community.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
Jared, Well, I think it's almost all the above.
Speaker 3 (00:24):
Jimmy, I mean, finally we have ICE actually enforcing our
immigration laws under President Trump. I mean, for too long
we had ICE turning a blind eye to it under
the Biden administration.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
But now we have.
Speaker 3 (00:36):
A president who has emboldened ICE and who has given
them a mandate to.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
Actually enforce our immigration laws. Think about that, and Houston
should be.
Speaker 3 (00:45):
No surprise that we have a lot of legal aliens here.
I mean, given our proximity to the border, the fact
that we have a very large port, the fact that
it's very easy to blend in and hide when you
have so many people in this region. But it's just
great to see that ICE is doing its job. Getting
those dangerous folks that are criminal backgrounds off the street.
(01:06):
And for too long now we've turned a blind eye
to it, and things are changing in the Trump administration.
Speaker 1 (01:12):
I find it fascinating though, that the local media really
doesn't do much with the story. Though I don't know
about you, but I've seen very few of any reports
on local television about these arrests, and I'm wondering if
that is on purpose. Is the media do you think
ignoring the story because they don't want people to know
how many illegals are here, or do they just not
like reporting on the fact that these people are being arrested?
Speaker 2 (01:33):
Well, I think one they ignore it. As you know,
most of the media has.
Speaker 3 (01:37):
A very liberal bias, and so one, they ignore it.
I think secondly, if they can, they look for an
opportunity to shed a negative light on the situation, to
take something that is good, meaning enforcing the law, and
turn it into something bad. And so yeah, they ignore it,
or they do the exact opposite. They take a good
(01:59):
thing to make it look as if we're doing something
bad or the Trump administration is doing something bad. But
that's really no surprise. I mean, what is surprising is
that this story was published in The New York Times
that they were actually talking about. I think they were
trying to shed a bad light on Houston as a
result of what ICE was doing here. But I think
most people look at and see, isn't it great that
(02:20):
ICE is actually doing its job and it's doing its
job effectively here in the Houston area.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
Well, and there's been I assume there's been some protesting
up Certainly we've seen during the summer months, we saw
some protesting going on there. I haven't heard much protesting
going on lately. Do you think that the community has
resigned itself to the fact that this is how we're
going to do things going forward.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
Well, I think the community looks at the fact and says, look,
if we're taking rapists, murders, people with serious criminal backgrounds
off the street, that's actually a very good thing. And
so I think now the public is starting to see
what President Trump and his administration is doing through ICE,
and they're looking.
Speaker 2 (02:59):
At through more of a positive lens.
Speaker 3 (03:01):
Is like, if I can get a murderer up the street,
someone who is sitting here illegally but is continuing to
roam the streets of Houston.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
That's a good thing.
Speaker 3 (03:10):
And when that law is being this immigration lawser being
a forced effectively by ice in the Houston area, even
great for us here who live in Houston. So I
think folks are now looking at it and saying, yeah,
I want the illegal immigrants off the street who are
committed crimes, murders, raps, things of that nature, sexual predators.
And then they said, look, we need to get folks
(03:32):
out of the country who have came here legally. We're
not against legal immigration, we're against illegal immigration.
Speaker 2 (03:38):
We need to make sure that our laws are enforced.
Speaker 1 (03:40):
We know that we had but about one point nine
almost two million people who self deported when the Trump
administration came into power. I'm wondering how many do we
have a feel for? How many more between self deportations
and those who have been arrested and deported, what kind
of a number we're up to, and how many others?
How many more of millions of illegals are still out
(04:01):
there for us to apprehend.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
Well, we know the number is huge given the fact
that the you know, the Biden administration and the Obama
administration turned the.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
Blind eye to illegal immigration.
Speaker 3 (04:13):
But what we're finding now and the more publicity that
the deportations get is folks that are self deporting like.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
You described, and folks that say, look, I'm going.
Speaker 3 (04:22):
To go back to my country of origin and work
to come back legally. And it's a slap on the
face to those who have followed our laws and who
have come here legally, to allow illegal aliens to stay
in this country unchecked and continue to violate the law
when individuals have taken the time to actually follow our laws.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
And so I think it sends a.
Speaker 3 (04:42):
Very clear message when ICE is actually enforcing the law
to folks that.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
Are here legally.
Speaker 3 (04:47):
Either one they're going to be found and you're going
to be sent back, or two you can self deport.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
And then come back legally. Do it the right way.
Speaker 3 (04:54):
That's what the Trump administration is trying to say, and
that's the message they're sending.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
They're sending in effectively, and for once, we have.
Speaker 3 (05:00):
An administration that's actually enforcing our immigration.
Speaker 1 (05:03):
Loves Hi, Jared, thank you, Happy New year, Jared Woodville,
