Speaker 1 (00:00):
Six, twenty three, our time here in Houston's Morning News. Well,
what has become typical for left wing groups to do
is when they don't like a ruling or a law
or a proposal in the that gets through the state legislature,
like Senate Bill twelve did, which bans the instruction of
DEI and transgender issues in those types of things in

(00:25):
K through twelve schools. What do they do. They go
to court. They constantly go to court. We spend all
of our time fighting these things in court. We passed
laws to try to prevent some of these things from happening.
It ends up in court. Jean Burke joins US education
expert at College Prep Genius. I don't know how how
do you make the I guess I understand. I understand
that we have some people involved in the lawsuit who

(00:48):
go to schools and talk about these issues and they
feel like, well, we can't do our jobs anymore because
you've banned us from going into the classrooms.

Speaker 2 (00:58):
Oh, Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy, it's all about money, you know
it is. Hey, schools are hemorrhaging students. I mean, just
think about it. In just in the last year or so,
twenty twenty two, twenty three, fifty thousand Texas Texas families
decided homeschool. Over five hundred thousand went to private school

(01:21):
and about fourteen percent, which is you know, and several
hundred thousand went to micro schooling. And so when you're
talking fifteen thousand dollars per student that the schools are given,
and that's based on like local, state, and federal funding,
I mean, they tell you it's the the base scores
is about sixty one hundred, but it really is fifteen thousand.

(01:42):
That's a lot of money.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
It is a lot of money in these groups, these
left wing groups. I mean, here's an example. The Genders
and Sexualities Alliance Network is one of them. Students engaged
in Advancing Texas. I'm pretty sure that that doesn't adequately
describe what they're really all about. Otherwise known as SEAT,
those are the two groups that seem to be involved

(02:05):
in this. The GSA Network defines itself as elevating trans
queer and two spirit youth voices by sharing stories, challenging stereotypes,
and amplifying the intergenerational lived wisdom of their people. What
the hell does that have to do with reading, writing,
and arithmetic, you know.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
Just teach our kids stem, not how much they're marginalized.
This is crazy. You know. Some of the banning is
you know, these schools assisting gender ideology, you know, constantly
referring to race. And then you know, just this transition
stuff that things that parents needed to be talking to
their kids about, not the schools, and I think that

(02:45):
the whole thing's you know, gone crazy. I think one
of the things that's going to help is that, you know,
we do have school choice now that goes into effect
in twenty twenty six, and you're gonna see even more
of a mass exodust. I think they're trying to get
ahead of the game. Is if every family is going
to get somewhere around well, there's gonna be about ten
thousand dollars allotted per family, I think when it comes

(03:06):
to school choice, and so there goes more kids out
of the government school. So I think they think, well,
if we get on top of this thing, maybe we
can stop it. You know, what about real racism, you
know they're creating it might have you know, been designed
to eliminate racism, but it becomes more structural and you know,

(03:27):
dust paradoxal and it's this sort of sing turbal will
that won't stop. And I think what's happening. It doesn't
raise up our children and especially those who are really impacted.
It's ultimately dragging everyone else down. And this is you know,
canceling any kind of achievements or eliminate any standards altogether.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
Well, if you think there's a mass exodus. Now if
they win in court, if these groups win in court
in the Center, Bill twelve is struck down as being unconstitutional,
then imagine the exodus. If that happens.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
Oh, I see it already, you know, and parents have
just really really woke up to the fact what is
really going on. And I think most even most most
cads have common sense, and you know we don't. I mean,
murder is a real thing, but we don't talk about
that in school. You know, you wouldn't talk to your
kids about that. So yeah, there's things. I think we're

(04:18):
just creating this environment and we're just egging it on
when it's constantly being talked about. Just teach school, that's
all that's all you're supposed to be doing, is just tea,
teaching kids to learn.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
Amen, Geen, thank you as always. Jean Burke, education expert
at college prep Genius at six twenty eight
