Speaker 1 (00:00):
Seven, twenty two. Our time here in Houston's warning it
is you don't hear a lot about the Canadian border.
We don't talk a lot about the Canadian border. That
we spent most of our time over the course of
the last five years talking about the border with Mexico,
which is very very quiet. But evidently some Iranian nationals
were caught at the US Canada border. And given the
fact that we don't have the world's best relationship with Iran,
(00:22):
and given the fact that we just took out their
nuclear facilities and cooperated with Israel our ally in order
to be able to make that happen, then you would
think any Iranian activity around the US Canada border would
make you think, well, maybe there's a sleeper cell that
was trying to make their way in. Jeff Ettiquette, terrorism
law professor the Wounded Warrior Project joins, us, I would
(00:45):
think that there are plenty of sleeper cells already here
in the United States. So I don't know that I
would suspect that's a sleeper cell just because it's some
Iranian nationals. What do you think?
Speaker 2 (00:56):
Yeah, you know, when you think about these things, you've
got to think like they think. And these individuals that
have committed jihati terror attacks. One thing they have in
common is they're willing to die for what they're going
to do. And that's a pretty you know, that's a
pretty amazing thing when you think about it, that you
believe is something so you know fervently that you're going
(01:17):
to die for it. And in Part two, we do
have individuals of jahatas that are in this country, Iranian inspired,
different types of branches on the poison tree of Islam
Islamic extremists. But one, you know, what you have to
consider is that why haven't we been attacked yet? Because
we know they're here. The FBI is pretty confident about
that partmerholand security tells us that why haven't they done it?
(01:40):
That's one of the things that you kind of scratch
your head. You say, well, you know, if they're here,
what's taken them so long? And the answer is that
these people are generally inspired to act when they have
a charismatic leader that inspires them. You'll note that, you know,
Europe was having a series of terror attacks one after
the other in twenty you know, seventeen, twenty sixteen, twenty fifteen,
(02:03):
and then President Trump destroyed Isis, killed their leader and
it all just stopped. Say, with the Iranians, we have
given them a significant thrashing. And therefore, when you have
the narrative that God's on our side, because that's what
radical eclombic extremists tell you, that, they kind of look
around and say, well, I guess God's not on your
side right now because being you know, obliterated, the Israelis
(02:25):
have dealt a heavy blow to you. President Trump has
destroyed your nuclear program, so it's uninspires them. So they're here,
there's no question about it. But the reason we don't
have an uptick in terror attacks right now is because
they're waiting for the next inspiration leader or winning no
event to occur before they'll get motivated to kill themselves
(02:46):
to kill us.
Speaker 1 (02:48):
Wow. That's so astute of you, Jeff, I'm so glad
we talked to you about this. You're saying they're waiting
on the next Osama bin Laden. They need somebody who's
going to inspire them to do whatever it is they're
going to do next, which I guess makes it pretty
strateg on the part of the Israelis in particular, who
keep taking out leaders, leaders, who pop up, who have
any sort of success against Israel or against the United States,
(03:10):
they are almost immediately taken out, aren't they. Right.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
That's what President Trump did in his first term. He
took out one of the major leaders of the Iranian hierarchy.
And that's how they think. So, you know, I've written
a book on this, not the top, my own book
on radical Islam. Why where I kind of dive into that.
So yeah, they're here, but they're crawling back in their
holes waiting for this inspirational leader to pop up, and
they will have somebody that will pop up and they'll
(03:34):
claim God's on our side. Look, we drove gets out
of Afghanistan, we drove the Americans out, We did this,
We did that. They don't have that right now.
Speaker 1 (03:43):
Okay, well, let's hope they never get it back. Thank you, sir,
appreciate it. Jeff Atticut, terrorism law professor at the Wounded
Warrior Project at seven twenty six
