Speaker 1 (00:00):
Yeah, We're all about voting as long as you are
a United States citizen and you're here legally, and well,
if you're a United States citizen, you are here legally
correct illegals know, we don't support that. Do we have
the right before you cast your both to know who
you are and to be able to prove that you
(00:20):
are actually are eligible to vote? Yeah? I think so.
That's what the Save Act is really all about. So
I really don't understand those who oppose it because the
top claim they always make is that it disenfranchises eligible voters.
How so, Jenny Beth Martin joins US Tea Party Patriots.
How in the world does the Save Act disenfranchise anybody, Jenny,
(00:42):
except people who are not eligible to vote.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
It simply does not disenfranchise eligible voters. It simply requires
proof of citizenship to register to vote. There is a
loophole in the motor voter law which allows the government
which has a form that allows people to register to
vote when they get their driver's license. And that form
(01:06):
right now has a checkbox and you affirm that you
are a United States citizen, but there is no proof
of citizenship when you do that. So if you could
an you could be an in I'm so sorry, I'm
going on three hours sleep for the last four nights
since we're traveling across the country. But also, if you
(01:26):
are a non citizen, you can get a driver's license
in this country.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
So if you.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
Don't fully understand the language and somebody's asking you a
question and you're just kind of nodding to speed the
process along, you may inadvertently be you signed up to
register to vote without even realizing that's what you just did.
And I think that that has probably happened in cases
where ineligible non citizens or on the voting rules. Over
(01:52):
eighty percent of Americans agree only American citizens should vote
in American elections to determine the American president. United States
Senators in United States Congressmen, over eighty percent of Americans
agree we should require proof of citizenship to register to vote.
This bill passed a House of Representatives twice, once in
(02:14):
the last Congress and once this year, but it's tallied
over in the Senate because they can't get enough votes
to get it past the filibuster, meaning they're not even
six or seven Democrats right now willing to vote for it.
This even though over seventy percent of Democrats agree with it,
over seventy percent of Independence, over ninety percent of Republicans,
(02:35):
and on average, over eighty percent of all Americans agree
on this. They're not doing what Americans want, and they're
not doing what their own constituency wants by delaying, and
that's why we've launched this bus tour, the Only Citizens
Vote Bus Tour, and we're urging Congress to pass this
bill and urging Congress to attach it the legislation that
(02:56):
they'd be voting on anyway, such as a government funding bill. Well,
they consider that must pass legislation. So put it on
something Congress fields like must pass to keep the government
open and funded, so that we can ensure that our
vote doesn't get canceled out by an ineligible non citizen.
Speaker 1 (03:14):
Well, we know the Democrats all walk in lockstep, that's
for sure, but they have to see what's going on
with their own party. Their party is imploding. Jenny Beth Martin,
you would like to think that you could convince six
or seven Democrats who don't want to go down that
path to change their minds and vote in favor this act.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
Well, I think that that that's why we need to
attach it to must pass legislation because they will be
more willing the what are they going to do? Vote
to shut down the government because they don't want to
ensure proof of citizenship to register to vote. That is
a politically untenable position for them to be in. Trying
(03:55):
to put them in so that we can can get
this passed. But the democratic part, they're afraid of their
own base and they don't have the courage of convictions
to stand up to their base. And without that, they're
going to continue to implode. And we've seen their awful
policies and the terrible effects they've had on our country,
on schools, on children for the last five years at least,
(04:21):
so they're in serious trouble. But part of it is
because they just don't have the courage needed to do
what's right for.
Speaker 1 (04:27):
America, all right, Jenny Beth, thank you for joining us.
