Speaker 6 (01:42):
President Trump speaking truth at the eightieth United Nations General
Assembly in New York yesterday.

Speaker 7 (01:48):
President Trump criticizing the UN, including for failing to end wars.

Speaker 8 (01:53):
Empty words don't solve war. The only thing that solves
war and wars is.

Speaker 7 (01:59):
Action, saying worked to end seven wars without help. After
a meeting with Ukrainian President Zelensky, President Trump taking the
truth social to reveal he thinks Ukraine can reclaim all
of its lost territory in the war against Russia with
support of the European Union.

Speaker 5 (02:13):
But I feel that.

Speaker 8 (02:13):
Way, I really didn't feel that we let him get
their land.

Speaker 7 (02:15):
Back, Ukraine's leader, calling this a big shift after President
Trump's call for Ukraine to make concessions. President Trump also
telling reporters NATO nations should shoot down Russian military aircraft
that enter their airspace. Christian Goodwin, Fox News.

Speaker 6 (02:30):
The President also canceling a meeting with Democrat leaders in
Congress is they look to avoid a budget shutdown. Trump
says a meeting would be a waste of time since
their demands are, how he put it, unserious and ridiculous.
The Jerry has delivered its verdict in the case of
case of Ryan Ruth, the man who tried to assassinate
President Trump at his Palm Beach golf course during the

(02:51):
campaign last year. Ruth was found guilty of attempted assassination,
assaulting a federal officer, and illegally possessing a firearm. After
the verdict, he reportedly trying to stab himself with the
neck right there in the court. Sentencing is sent for
December eighteenth. As Democrats continue to take the wrong side
on all the key issues. One conservative commentator says it

(03:12):
tells a lot.

Speaker 9 (03:13):
Jack Hellmer says, you can learn a lot from what
well funded leftists protest and what they do not.

Speaker 10 (03:21):
They didn't protest Biden, letting men, the gang members, or
the cartels or anything like that. But they protest Trump.

Speaker 9 (03:28):
They protest Trump and Republicans for wanting to stop crime.

Speaker 10 (03:32):
People should protest the fact that saw Stone crime. Politicians
or judges or prosecutors let these people roam the street.

Speaker 9 (03:41):
But instead they defend criminals and attack conservatives. Jeff Bigs

Speaker 5 (03:49):
Texas is getting more border buoys in the Rio.

Speaker 6 (03:52):
Grand Homeland Security Secretary Christy Noams says the floating border
wall has been effective part of President Trump's immigration strategy.

Speaker 11 (03:59):
We have water born infrastructure that will be put in place.

Speaker 6 (04:04):
The buoys We're first released in the water near Eagle
Pass back in twenty twenty three. The plan is to
add seventeen more miles near Brownsville. It'll be funded through
President Trump's Big Beautiful Bill. It includes forty six billion
dollars for border security measures. Looks like the Texas to
Private Public Safety is sent to spend about seventy seven
million dollars on overtime related to Operation Loan Star, and

(04:27):
some are asking why that is since the border seems
to be secure.

Speaker 12 (04:31):
The fact of the matter is there is still a
good reason for DPS to stay on the border.

Speaker 13 (04:35):
You can't just measure DPS's success on apprehensions or arrest
with them just being in the area. You know how
much of a deterrent is that? I titty it serves
a purpose.

Speaker 12 (04:43):
Arrol County Sheriff that Is Cleveland says things have still
slowed down a bit more since Operation Loan Start peaked.

Speaker 13 (04:49):
We've seen the state deal back a lot of the
operations down here along the border. We're not having that
same level of operational tempo that we had because there
is a lot less activity.

Speaker 12 (04:57):
He says, it's still a good idea to continue investing
in Opera Lone Star, which the state has done. Ethan
Buchanan News Radio seven forty.

Speaker 6 (05:07):
A Houston management found guilty of manslaughter for the fatal
shooting of a nine year old girl in twenty twenty two.
Tony Earl's junior fatally shot Darlene Alvarez when he fired
into a moving pickup truck in which she was riding
with her family. Earls had just been robbed at an
ATM and thought the pickup matched the getaway vehicle. Earls
could face anywhere from probation up to twenty years in prison.

(05:29):
The restoration of the American Dream might partly hinge on
the crackdown of crime across the country. Justin Keener of
American for Public Safety says blue city officials letting criminals
out on low bonds hurts everyone, not just law.

Speaker 14 (05:43):
Enforcement, especially in some of our urban areas where we
have these rogue prosecutors and judges letting violent offenders out
on the streets, which then means that your children can't
play safely in playgrounds or walk to school. It's time
to reclaim our neighborhoods. It's time to give police the
ability to do their jobs.

Speaker 5 (06:01):
He says.

Speaker 6 (06:01):
We need to get back to treating public safety as
an obligation, not a political stance. Whoever said the paperback
book didn't was dead, did not bother telling the bookstore
chain Barnes and Noble. The company says it's adding thirty
new stores before the end of this year. Every store
now encouraged to have a unique identity and style, and
they've even taken over some of the old Amazon bookstores.

Speaker 15 (06:24):
Each of the bookstores should reflect the personality of the
individual managers and the staff working there.

Speaker 6 (06:29):
As business analyst Michael Gurdley, Barnes and Noble has already
opened a new store here in Houston this year. It's
a Memorial Drive at the West Sam Houston tol Way.
Time is running out for the Astros. They lost to

Speaker 3 (07:17):
He said he didn't really want to tell you he's sorry,
so he he didn't I'll give Jimmy Kimmel a little
bit credit here.

Speaker 13 (07:25):
He was.

Speaker 3 (07:28):
He didn't double down on lying last night, as I
kind of expected him to do. But don't think he
apologized because he didn't apologize. And I should know, because
I'm the king of the non apology apology. I'm to
be find to cut a little bit later as soon

(07:48):
as he gets loaded in the system. Here, I'm gonna
play the cut for you of exactly what it was
that he said last night. But it's a perfect non
apology apology. Basically, here's how a non apology works. When
you tell people that if you felt a certain way
about what I said to you, I'm sorry, because that's

(08:11):
not what I meant by what I said. It's not
it's it's it's it's a it's it's it's a qualified apology.
It really means I'm not sorry for what I said.
I'm just sorry that it got me in trouble or
got you upset, which is a whole different feeling than

(08:31):
you know, a real legitimate apology.

Speaker 5 (08:33):
And I get it.

Speaker 3 (08:35):
I I had to deploy it once I did something that,
although very very funny at the time, got me into
a whole lot of trouble. This was when I was
in Virginia and I was we continually lost our power
at our house. It happened all the time. I mean,
a squirrel would run over the power line and the
power would go out. And I was just so frustrated,

(08:57):
and Elizabeth was even more frustrated than I was. And
so I got to work and she had already called
because they Eventually, from the time I left it for
work and the time I got to work, the power
had gone up. And this is like a you know,
like every day occurrence. And our little cul de sac
was the only one that kept losing its power, and

(09:20):
we could never get an answer from the power company
about why we kept losing power, and we called them
all the time. Finally, well, finally, somebody who worked for
the company, who lived somewhere else in neighborhood say, hey, listen,
you're on your little cul de sac is on an
old circuit and if we cost about five thousand dollars
for them to fix it, but they're too cheap, they
won't fix it. They won't spend the money. So that's

(09:41):
why your power keeps going out. So the next time
I lost power, my wife lost her mind, and she
put a voicemail, and my voicemail that said, basically, she
went from like zero to ninety in like about fifteen seconds. Hi, honey,
just want you know. I called the power company and
they said the power should be back on in twenty minutes.

(10:02):
And if it's not back on in twenty minutes, she
goes into this rant. She goes from this sweet little
voice to a complete rant. And I thought that was
the funniest thing I'd ever heard. So I played it
on the air and I kept telling you, please fix
the problem. Do you see what you're doing to my wife?
Please fix the problem. Well, people got people, the power

(10:24):
company got upset. I got to cease and desist. They
thought we were going to come down and burn the
place down. They thought it was a threat. So I
had to apologize on the air the next day. So
my apology on the air was, if you really thought
that my wife was going to come down to the
power company and burn it down to you, I apologize.
So I get what a non apology apology is. And
that's what you got from Jimmy Kimmel last night, five eleven.

(10:46):
Time for traffic and whether.

Speaker 5 (10:47):
Together It's better funnier than Jimmy Kimmel.

Speaker 20 (12:14):
Let's go another direct.

Speaker 5 (12:15):

go to the iHeart Radio Act the KTRH. Uh you
have to talk about button. You got to thirty seconds.
First thing where you're calling from. Things that are funnier
than Jimmy Kimmel. All right, your turn, Terry Smith.

Speaker 20 (12:35):
Things that are funnier than Jimmy Kimmel.

Speaker 3 (12:38):
You don't have to answer that question. You just have
to deal with the weather stuff.

Speaker 19 (12:41):
Well, I can do that. I certainly can do that
a little easier. I haven't given it much thought this morning,
but I have been watching this colfront that's heading our way.

Speaker 5 (12:51):
Now.

Speaker 19 (12:51):
Things are all nice and quiet, and they should stay
that way through the morning hours. But as it gets closer,

Speaker 20 (13:04):

Speaker 19 (13:06):
At school pickup today well, we could be dealing with
some thunderstorms with some heavy rain at times as well,
So just kind of factor that into your plants.

Today.

Speaker 20 (13:15):
It's going to be a little bit warmer, load of.

Speaker 3 (16:11):
All right, I'm gonna let you be the judge of this.
Less I be too harsh on Jimmy Kimmel. Heaven forbid,
I should be too harsh on him. This is from
me his opening monologue last night. You tell me, do
Jimmy Kimmel apologize for what he said about Charlie Kirk.
Let's listen.

Speaker 22 (16:30):
Thank you here anyway, as I was saying before I
was interrupted, he if you're just joining us, we are
preempting your regularly scheduled encore episode of Celebrity Family Feud.

Speaker 5 (16:43):
To bring you this special report.

Speaker 22 (16:45):
I've been hearing a lot about what I need to
say and do tonight, and the truth is, I don't
think what I have to say is.

Speaker 5 (16:51):
Going to make much of a difference. If you like me,
you like me. If you don't, you don't.

Speaker 22 (16:54):
I have no illusions about changing anyone's mind, but I
do want to make something clear because it's important to
me as a human, and that is you understand that
it was never my intention to make light of.

Speaker 5 (17:05):
The murder of a young man.

Speaker 23 (17:08):
I don't.

Speaker 5 (17:13):
I don't think there's anything funny about it.

Speaker 22 (17:15):
I posted a message on Instagram and the daves killed,
sending love to his family and asking him for a compassion,
and I meant it.

Speaker 5 (17:22):
I still do. Nor was it my.

Speaker 22 (17:24):
Intention to blame any specific group for the actions of
what it was obviously a deeply disturbed individual.

Speaker 5 (17:31):
That was really the opposite of the point I was
trying to make.

Speaker 22 (17:34):
But I understand that to some that felt either ill
timed or unclear, or maybe both. And for those who
think I did point a finger, I get why you're upset.
If the situation was reversed, there's a good chance I'd
have felt the same way. I have many friends and
family members on the other side who I love and
remain close to, even though we don't agree.

Speaker 5 (17:54):
On politics at all.

Speaker 22 (17:56):
I don't think the murderer who shot Charlie Kirk represents anyone.
This was a sick person who believed violence was a
solution and it isn't it ever.

Speaker 5 (18:06):
And also selfishly.

Speaker 22 (18:10):
I am I am a person who gets a lot
of threats. I get many ugly and scary threats against
my life, my wife, my kids, my co workers because
of what I choose to say. And I know those
threats don't come from the kind of people on the
right who I know and love. So that's what I
wanted to say on that subject. But I don't want
to make this about me because and I know this

(18:31):
is what people say when they make things about them.
But I really don't know this show. This show is
not important. What is important is that we get to
live in a country that allows us to.

Speaker 5 (18:42):
Have a show like this.

Speaker 3 (18:44):
All right, now, you've heard the foal's that's all he
had to say. Addressing the issue your thoughts, you go
to the iHeartRadio app KTRH, hit the talkback button. He

Do you think that Jimmy Kimmel handled the right way?

Here's Eric Sharp.

Speaker 6 (21:51):
Good morning, five thirty one on news Radio seven forty
k TRH. Our top story this hour, Jerry found Ryan
and Ruth guilty Tuesday of trying to assassin eight then
presidential candidate Donald Trump at his golf course in Florida
last year Boxis Jonathan Siri was in Florida for that
verdict is.

Speaker 5 (22:08):
The guilty verdict was read.

Speaker 26 (22:10):
US marshals had to restrain Ryan Ruth as he attempted
to stab himself in the neck with a pen. His
daughter Sarah stood up in the courtroom and shouted, this
is not fair, this is all rigged. In closing arguments,
federal prosecutor Christopher Brown said the evidence has shown one thing,
and one thing only. The defendant wanted Donald Trump dead,

(22:32):
but Ruth, acting as his own attorney, tried to suggest
he was merely exercising his First Amendment right to stage
a peaceful protest, not an assassination attempt, because his rifle
never actually fired.

Speaker 6 (22:46):
Ruth expected to be sentenced in December. He could face
life in prison. Jimmy Kemmel is back on ABC after
a week long suspension, and he wasted no time taking
shots at President Trump for praising the break.

Speaker 22 (22:58):
The president of UNI his states made it very clear
he wants to see me and the hundreds of people
who work here fired from our jobs. Our leader celebrates
Americans losing their livelihoods because he can't take a joke.

Speaker 6 (23:12):
The President's lammed ABC for putting him back on the
air next to our and Sinclair Broadcasting did not air
the show last night, which chatted up to about a
quarter of the ABC affiliates in the country. After nearly
ten years, many of the flood control projects that were
approved by voters following Hurricane Harvey, they're still uncompleted, some
even canceled. Officials claim that they've run out of money.

Speaker 12 (23:35):
Voters now want to know where all the money for
these projects actually went.

Speaker 16 (23:39):
Who are the contractors that got this money, What, if anything,
have they done with this money. Are we on top
of it? Are we examining what's happening?

Speaker 12 (23:47):
Jared wood Fill with Conservative Republicans of Texas says, we
could have solved this issue with federal COVID money.

Speaker 16 (23:52):
Why weren't those funds directed towards projects like this? The
bomb packages are flood prevention if we knew that there was.

Speaker 12 (24:00):
To be a shortfall, he says, Instead, like so many
other taxpayer dollars, COVID relief funds were just directed to
pet projects. Ethan Buchanan News Radio seven forty KRH.

Speaker 6 (24:09):
Despite opposition from outgoing Harris County Judge leader Hidogo, the
new two point seven billion dollar budget expected to pass
later today at Commissioner's courts.

Speaker 27 (24:18):
That's a proposed budget is created quite a bit of
drama at Commissioner's Court over the past two months. County
Judge lean And Hidalgo says the county cannot afford it.

Speaker 28 (24:27):
It looks like this budget.

Speaker 27 (24:29):
Is already wrapped up, but of course that remains to
be seen.

Speaker 6 (24:33):
That's reporter Holly Hansen with the Texans. Hidogo wants to
block races for law enforcement so money can be used
for social programs. President Trump says NATO nations should shoot
down a Russian aircraft that enter their airspace. He made
the comments as he met with Ukrainian President Zelenski of
the United Nations yesterday. It marked the fourth time the
leaders have met since Trump has returned to office, as

(24:56):
they look for an end of the Ukraine War with Russia.
Trump said at the UN as has great respect for
the fight Ukraine is putting up. We keep hearing a
lot about trouble with the stock market. It might be
in but still seem to be growing at a record pace.
So what's really going on the truth is we're probably
looking at a bubble.

Speaker 15 (25:15):
The s and P five hundred is now risky in
terms of being concentrated amongst just a handful of stocks,
but it's also concentrated in technology.

Speaker 6 (25:26):
KTRH moneyman Patchen says the reason that bubble keeps growing
is because many investors just start aware of just how
big the risk is or think that they still have
time to pull out with a profit. A kind of
loan that's becoming more common is hurting people, according to critics.

Speaker 24 (25:43):
Particularly young people and those in the lower income brackets.
And now some new systems will start counting on your
Fiico credit score every time you use special buy now,
pay later loans. Credit expert Jennis Spooner says people who
really don't understand how much these loans cost will actually suffer.

Speaker 29 (26:01):
If they know about it, and they've read the fine
print and know the risk, it still makes the decision.

Speaker 27 (26:06):
I don't feel sorry for that.

Speaker 24 (26:07):
Those added these can cause the costs of using buy now,
pag later to buy dinner to skyrocket if you don't
pay it off quickly. Mike Shiloh News Radio seven forty Kraight.

Speaker 3 (27:17):
Now you're in us' warning. Do you remember this story?
Remember this woman, Lisa Janine Finley. She's finally been sentenced.
She was part of a scheme to buy, i should
say sell in her case, Graceland. She posed as a
bogused investor named Kurt Nasani, demanding payment on a three

(27:40):
point eight million dollar loan that she claimed that Lisa
Marie Presley had taken out using Graceland as collateral. Yeah,
and it almost worked. She forged documents, including signatures and
notary stamps. She was sued by actress Riley Keo that
is Elvis, his granddaughter and Lisa Marie's daughter, who exposed

(28:03):
the scam. It was pretty laboratoro. She even went as
far as posing as West African identity thieves and emails
to media outlets after the com was uncovered to try
to cover tracks. She's from Missouri. She has a long
history of ripoffs, many of them involving romance ripoffs, you know,
where she's pretending to be somebody who's interested in you guys,
and you're sending her money and yeah, well you get

(28:25):
the idea. Also financial fraud. She had been arrested on
charges of mail fraud and identity theft in the Graceland
case and had agreed to appeal up a plea deal
in February of twenty twenty five of this year, but
she has now been sentenced to more than four years
in prison for attempting to steal Graceland, which giving her
track record in her history seemed kind of light to me.

(28:47):
I mean, don't you think that's more like fifteen to
twenty for what she tried to do, given the fact
that she has a long history of doing this stuff.
Five forty time for traffic and weathered together.

Speaker 4 (28:57):
Tinds with the Power Home team with Keller Williams could
sell Graceland fast and for top dollars.

Speaker 3 (29:01):
I bet they could just want to throw that in.
Do you have the deed that you can donate?

Speaker 5 (29:06):
Well, that's the that's the catch. You have to actually
own the home.

Speaker 4 (29:09):
I can't get it sold unless you actually own the home, y'all.
Let's check your belts and loops. South Loop six to

Speaker 5 (29:28):

Speaker 3 (30:34):
You know, Terry, we have a chance for two named
storms to be almost in the same place at the
same time.

Speaker 5 (30:40):
Crazy. Huh, it is getting crazier out there, it.

Speaker 20 (30:42):
Is, And uh, it's not entirely surprising.

Speaker 19 (30:46):
This is a little bit more of what we see
this timing year out in the tropics. So of course,
we've got Hurricane Gabriel, which is moving away from the
United States in the middle of the Atlantic and heading
towards Spain and Portugal. But then we have these little disturbances.
There's one that is on the northern end of the
Leeward Islands, pretty close to Puerto Rico, and there's another

(31:09):
one that's a little bit more out in the Atlantic,
and they both have a very high probability, like a
eighty to ninety percent chance that something's going to be named.

Speaker 20 (31:18):
Now, next name is.

Speaker 19 (31:20):
Umberto, and I forget what our eye storm is, I'll
have to go look it up, but Umberto will be
the next tropical system named.

Speaker 20 (31:29):
For the time being.

Speaker 19 (31:30):
It looks like both of these disturbances as they are now,
whatever they do, will remain over the open waters. But
this could have some impact at least one of them
possibly could have some impact on the Bahama island chain.
So if you have a trip to the Bahamas, plan
keep an eye on this. We're keeping an eye on
the radar. We got a col front on the way

(31:51):
and an eighty percent chance of showers and thunderstorms developing.
That is mainly going to be an afternoon thing, but
these thunderstorms may produce some heavy rain. We also may
produce some gusty winds as well. Temperatures get a chance
to warm up a little bit today loa to mid nineties,
but then tomorrow a few lingering showers, like a thirty
percent chance of rain tomorrow, and we're cooler in the

(32:13):
mid to upper eighties. And we're dry Friday, with temperatures
mid to upper eighties. Saturday and Sunday no rain and
warming up just a little bit upper eighties to low
nineties for the weekend.

Speaker 20 (34:55):
You know a lot of people are coming up to me.

Speaker 5 (34:57):
Crying, actually crying. Yeah, yeah, But that was just me.

Speaker 20 (35:02):
That night.

Speaker 30 (35:05):
I grieved in a way that I have not since
my mother died. And it was I was the pain
was it was not at all about losing a race.
I knew what it was going to mean for the countries.
We just didn't have enough time. We didn't have enough time.

Speaker 20 (35:26):
We didn't have enough time for real.

Speaker 5 (35:29):
And you know, I mean, one.

Speaker 30 (35:30):
Of the reasons I wrote the book is this is unprecedented.
It is the closest presidential race in the twenty first
century in terms of the outcome.

Speaker 31 (35:41):
I'm sorry, maybe it's just me, but she sounds loaded
and it ain't booze. I don't know what it is,
but she reminds me of every woman at the airport

Speaker 5 (35:55):
She had too many dakeries because.

Speaker 31 (35:57):
She cannot get out of her on about the things.

Speaker 32 (36:01):
And you know, the one hundred and seventy one hundred
and seven days.

Speaker 5 (36:04):
Wasn't a lot.

Speaker 33 (36:05):
That's why they that's why they called it one hundred
and seven days. So whenever, because that's the only way
she could remember that is if they put it on
the book.

Speaker 5 (36:13):
So they go, why did you lose? Only had one
hundred and seven days? Why didn't you have a better plan?

Speaker 31 (36:19):
I only had one hundred and seven days. Why aren't
there all these receipts for xanax? I only had one
hundred and seven days?

Speaker 33 (36:26):
She said a lot of people were crying that came
up to her. That is just an obvious lie. Nobody
was crying unless she ran over their cat or something.
I've never seen a president Joel candidate's memoir without an index,
are they? I guess is alphabetizing too close to a
sobriety test that they couldn't do that. I mean, that's

(36:47):
like an elevator without numbered buttons.

Speaker 18 (36:49):
You know.

Speaker 33 (36:49):
That had to be deliberate because there were so few
details in her book that the index itself would only
have been one page.

Speaker 5 (36:55):
I mean, maybe there would be her name, Joe Biden, names.

Speaker 33 (36:58):
Doug name, doctor Jill Jose Cuervo.

Speaker 3 (37:01):

It's time down for the news. Here's Eric Sharp.

Speaker 6 (38:49):
Good morning, six h two on news radio seven forty
ktr inks. This news brought to you by All Star Construction.
Our top story this hour. President Trump meeting with Ukrainian
President Zelensky. If you're Addedations General Assembly in New York,
and had some kind words for Zelenski.

Speaker 5 (39:04):
He's a great man.

Speaker 8 (39:05):
And he's putting up one hour of a fight and
we'll see how that all turns out.

Speaker 6 (39:10):
The President also called on nations to unite in efforts
to end the war between Russia and Ukraine.

Speaker 8 (39:16):
In the event that Russia is not ready to make
a deal to end the war, then the United States
is fully prepared to impose a very strong round of
powerful tariffs which would stop the bloodshed, I believe very quickly.

Speaker 6 (39:30):
The President added that he believes NATO country should shoot
down any drones or Russian aircraft that entered their airspace.
Jimmy Kimmel returned to Late Night this week without offering
an apology for his comments following the murder of Charlie Kirk.

Speaker 5 (39:45):
Instead, he used his first show back.

Speaker 6 (39:47):
To highlight remarks from Kirk's widow, Erica, who spoke at
her husband's memorial about forgiving the man who killed Charlie Kirk.
Kimmel called her words an example that we should follow.
We'll have some of what he actually he said in
his no apology apology at six point thirty. The man
accused of tried to assassinate President Trump in Florida has
been found guilty. A jury found Ryan Ruth guilty of

(40:10):
attempting to kill the President while he was playing golf
at his Palm Beach golf course. And while running for
reelection last year, had a post on truth social Trump
said that Ruth is an evil man that had an
evil intention, and he thanked the Justice Department for its work.

Speaker 5 (40:25):
Ruth is said to be sentenced in December.

Speaker 6 (40:27):
Republicans want to know how social media platforms handle extremist content.
Household Land Security Chair Andrew Garabino and Congressman August Flueger,
who served as head of the Subcommittee on Counter Terrorism
and Intelligence, issued letters to top executives at Discord, get Hub,
rend It, and Twitch. They requested information on how they

(40:49):
monitor and flag information for law enforcement. The left's hypocrisy
and soft on crime policies still happening. Political commentator Jack
Hellner pointing to an incident right here in Texas that
was never really reported.

Speaker 10 (41:03):
A guy that decapitated somebody in doll He had a
long criminal record. He was the ilegal immigrants. He's out
on the street and he cuts off a head. In
the national news don't reported.

Speaker 5 (41:16):
He says.

Speaker 6 (41:16):
The left coddles crime while attacking Trump for trying to
stop it. Vice President Vance will be in North Carolina
today to raise money for the GOP. The fundraiser in
Lexington is reported, Lee expected to raise over two million
dollars for the Republican National Committee. Later in the day,
Vance will give a speech on public safety in a
suburb of Charlotte. And speech comes just a month after

(41:37):
a Ukrainian refugee in her early twenties was stabbed to
death on a Charlotte commuter train by a suspect with
mental health issues. State lawmakers responded this week by advancing
legislation to reinstate the death penalty.

Speaker 5 (41:51):
Ktrh's news time six ZHO five.

Speaker 6 (41:53):
Texas still spending big on Operation Loan Star, with trooper
overtime pay expected to be around seventy seven million dollars
this year. This is leading to some being concerned about
the long hours troopers are working.

Speaker 13 (42:05):
Those of us coming into law enforcement, we know that
the expectation has laid out before we sign on or
take that oath. Whether it's a national emergency or a
hurricane hitting the Gulf Coast of Texas or the southern border,
we know, so that just kind of comes with the territory.

Speaker 6 (42:18):
Terrell County Sheriff Daddius Cleveland says the work that Texas
DPS troopers are doing to help border patrol is critical,
but did note that efforts have scaled back a bit
since crossings slowed. The punishment phase begins today. In the
trial of Tony Earls Junior. A jury convicted Earls yesterday
of manslaughter and the shooting death of nine year old
Arlene Alvarez in twenty twenty two. Earls told police that

(42:40):
he had been robbed at an ATM and thought that
Alvarez's family truck was the suspects vehicle. He fired shots
into the pickup and killed the girl's faces. Anywhere from
two to twenty years in prison probation is possible because
he has no prior felony convictions. A crackdown on crime,
as President Trump is doing, could restore the American dream.

Speaker 34 (43:00):
The country's fallen into rewarding criminals and vilifying law enforcement.

Speaker 14 (43:05):
We're seeing too many rogue das. Rogue judges just start
releasing violent offenders onto the streets, which then forces cops
to go out and re arrest these individuals.

Speaker 34 (43:15):
Justin Keener of Americans for Public Safety says this affects everyone.
The biggest thing is getting back to seeing safety as
an obligation rather than a stance.

Speaker 14 (43:23):
Some on the left treat public safety as if it's
some social justice experiment. The truth is police lower crime.

Speaker 5 (43:30):
He says.

Speaker 34 (43:31):
The public has woken up now and that'll help fuel
the crackdown.

Speaker 5 (43:34):

I'm Eric Sharp on Houston's News Weather in Traffic station,
News Radio seven forty kt RH.

Speaker 2 (43:51):
Now back to Jimmy Barrett and the Houston Morning News team,
Houston's Morning News.

Speaker 3 (43:57):
So high school football, play high school football? Of course
you did, right. I certainly did not a bad player,
if I do say so myself. Anyway, I was when
I played high school, Bob, I was about six foot
to two hundred and twenty five pounds. I've played on
the offensive line today. That's probably about the average size

(44:20):
of an NFL running back, certainly not the average size
of alignment. You know, people have gotten nothing but bigger
over the course of time, and I saw an incident
out of Michigan out of a high school game. There's
two things about this that are very disturbing. Number one
is the size disparity. This is at a junior varsity
game that was being played between the players involved and

(44:43):
the actions of the big player. Kid gets hit, he
goes to the ground. The player who hit him, I
can't find a single report on his size, but he's
about a foot and a half two feet taller and
probably weighs three times with that kid weighs. He looks

(45:06):
like he's about a three hundred pound kid. I don't
know if not, he's got to be you know, well,
well about two hundred and fifty pounds, and the kid
he hit was probably a buck sixty at the most.
And the thing that was egregious about it is that
after the player had gone down, after seventy three had
already hit him, he hops up and then he takes

(45:28):
a leap on him. He pancakes him. He just drops
all his of his weight on a prone player, breaking
his spine in two places. Now, as far as I know,
he's not paralyzed. He's going to be okay. But there's
a lot of things that are wrong about the story,
not the least of which is the sportsmanship are lack thereof.

(45:51):
You know, what world is this kid playing in, and
how is this kid being coached that he thinks is
perfectly appropriate for him to do something like this. Now,
because we're talking about fifteen year old kids and miners involved,
there's no word on what punishment is going to be
meted out or or what the ramifications are going to

(46:12):
be for the player who did this. I don't look
at that as a football play. When you when you're
doing that to a prone kid who you've already knocked down,
and you're dropping your full weight on this in an attempt,
I would think to injure him. Is that not a sault?
Should they should that? I know he's fifteen, was fifteen

(46:33):
old enough to know better. Should that kid not be
charged with assault? Six' Ten time for traffic and weather.

Speaker 3 (01:27:01):
App, well As i've been saying all, morning it wasn't
really an apology last. Night it was one of, those
and we've all done this. Right we all recognize a
non apology, apology which, is, well if you felt THAT i,
said or That i'd meant, this That i'm, sorry which

(01:27:24):
is not really an. Apology in, FACT i only think
he even used the word sorry in that non apology.
Apology Nick lindquist JOINS us political strategist and. COMMENTATOR i
don't THINK i saw him cry a little. Bit Jimmy
kibbles known to, Cry, nick BUT i think he was
crying for. Himself what do you?

Speaker 28 (01:27:41):
Think, YEAH i absolutely, Agree, JIMMY i was watching that
kind of in, awe but you, know part of me
kind of expected the response that we, got which was
a rehearse breakdown.

Speaker 5 (01:27:59):
Really for and.

Speaker 28 (01:28:00):
Unnatural said something he should have said the first time
that the night that he got himself off the, air
which is political violence isn't the. Answer but he also
refused to acknowledge that the shooter had ideological. Motivations he basically, said,
OH i don't know why people do, this and then

(01:28:23):
went right back into what's killing late NIGHT tv to begin,
with which is just Bashing, trump Blaming trump for.

Speaker 5 (01:28:30):
Him being taken off the.

Speaker 28 (01:28:31):
Air you, know it's really quite a spectacle to, see
and it just exposes his lack of self, awareness and
you know this is the case for a lot of
people on network.

Speaker 3 (01:28:44):
Television, Still, well it's an echo chamber because everybody within
their world believes that everybody In Jimmy kimmill's audience last
night believes the stuff he. Says so it's an echo.
Chamber the problem is is that echo chamber seems to
be getting smaller and smaller and. Smaller you're on, television
you survive on ratings and, revenue and if you make
that echo chamber so small that you can no longer

(01:29:06):
make money for whatever network is carrying.

Speaker 5 (01:29:08):
You you become very.

Speaker 28 (01:29:09):
Expendable, yeah especially with high budget programming like late NIGHT.
TV i don't think people until you Know Stephen colbert
got canceled and then you know this, HAPPENED i don't
think people realize how expensive these shows are to produce
and they don't really yield any benefit for the. Networks

(01:29:30):
and another interesting thing about that shrinking echo chamber is
even Though Jimmy kimmel returned to the airwaves last, night
Next star And sinclair affiliate, stations which makes up about
a quarter of ABC's, reach refused to air it.

Speaker 5 (01:29:47):
Still So i'm.

Speaker 28 (01:29:48):
Interested to see how that plays. Out And i'm also
glad that these affiliates are standing up and saying, no
this still isn't.

Speaker 5 (01:29:54):
Right we're not going to do.

Speaker 41 (01:29:56):
This.

Speaker 3 (01:29:57):
Yeah, well last night he only Mentioned Charlie kirk by name.
Once the first time he mentioned, him he said that
young man that was, killed and it was, like what
young what do you mean young? Man we all knew
who it was he. Mentioned Charlie kirk later claimed that
he had sent a message to The kirk Family that's
one of the demands That Sinclair broadcasters had is they

(01:30:17):
wanted a direct apology From Jimmy kimmel to The kirk,
family and then they wanted some sort of a donation
for one Of, charlie you, know for whether It's Turning
point or or some other charity That Charlie kirk was connected.
TO i don't think he handled that last, night to.
YOU i don't think he made any effort towards.

Speaker 28 (01:30:36):
That, no there was no. Apology you, know he may
have reached out To Erica, kirk BUT i didn't see.
That i'm sure a donation was not. Made AND i
think that he purposely did not meet the demands of
the affiliates because he's a bitter person and he still
thinks he did nothing. Wrong he fundamentally. Doesn't he hasn't

(01:31:00):
learn the lesson that this was supposed to teach, him
AND i don't think he'll ever learn that, lesson because,
again he he doesn't think he did anything. Wrong he,
thinks you, know Normal, americans those those you know people
took me off the. Airwaves And Donald trump's responsible, too
and it's just a NonStop blame. Game but the thing

(01:31:23):
about today is it's different from ten years, ago and
he's not immune from being taken off the air. Permanently
AND i you, know his contract is coming up in
a couple of, YEARS i.

Speaker 5 (01:31:35):
BELIEVE i think at the end of the, YEAR i
think what.

Speaker 3 (01:31:36):
HAPPENED i think in january's contract is, up so he
may he may be out of work as soon As. January,
YEAH i.

Speaker 28 (01:31:43):
Mean you, Know i've been saying this to others who've
asked me about, it AND i don't know that they
will renew that contract after all of. This it's an expensive.
Program disney's you, know not doing very well in, general
so they're not going to make risky investments anymore in
terms of their cable.

Speaker 5 (01:32:05):
Properties And disney has not helped themselves at all in this. Either.

Speaker 3 (01:32:08):
