Fireworks at the KDISD board meeting last night. Danny GM Francesco,
the father of a Taylor High school team assaulted by
a football player, then suspended for fighting back. The school
called it a mutual confrontation, but the boy had allegedly
been assaulting and bullying the girl for the last year.

Jan Francesco joins Houston's Morning News at seven point fifty. Now,
this kind of behavior and the lack of response by
schools as consequences down the road for everyone.

When bad behavior isn't punished, it gets worse.

Actual crimes that happen on a school campus, there's always
a history before that. Usually students will show many signs
and have a history of misconduct.

English teacher Augusta Murray says the Carmelo Anthony case is
likely a result of this lack of discipline.

A lot of these bad kids that really do need
to shape up and stop doing what they're doing. If
you never intervene, these behaviors can explode in pretty violent ways.

He says, there's a line that needs to be walked
between over punishing students and not punishing them at all.

religious rights of parents in Maryland to remove kids from
classes when teachers use books with LGBTQ themes.

I'm always amazed by these list of things that a
baby boomer like myself can do that gen Z cannot,

and they can't because they were never taught it, you know, which,
which I think that's probably true of you know, every generation,
there's certain skill sets that you were taught or brought
up with as a child that don't get passed along
for whatever reason. This this, this is the list of
common skills, I mean common things that boomers are shocked

that gen z ers don't know how to do. Never
one how to read a map and figure out directions
without GPS. In other words, you fold out the map
and you used to do that trip and triple A
used to do that for you by the way they
give you a trip tick where they would you know,
they get give get a map when they would highlight
and yellow the route that you needed to take and
you would read the map to determine which way we're

going to go now by the same token. In fairness,
there are probably some baby boomers can work the GPS
on their car. So if you can't figure that out,
then you know they have a skill. Said you don't
have how to address a piece of mail? What was
the last piece of mail you even sent, not counting
a birthday card or something like that. US Treasury was mine?

It's easy to remember when you when you basically send
one item in the US mail per year. How do
unclog a toilet using a plunger? How did we lose
that skill? There's still plungers you still have a toilet
in the house. How come you don't know how to
unclog it. How to tell time on the clock that
has hands, you know, an old fashioned analog clock versus

the digital clock. How to count correct change. We were
talking about that the other week. You know how my
dad taught me to count count change out. I mean,
it's one of the first things he taught me how
to do. If you've ever been to a fast food
restaurant the computers are down, you realize that none of
them know how to make change, how to type on
an actual keyboard, how to mend, close and sew on buttons.

How to cook. That's because kids today don't have moms
who cook, and maybe their moms didn't cook. Why are
kitchens so important in brand new homestill when nobody cooks.
I've never been able to figure that out. How to
do basic handyman skills like simple outlet replacement, changing a
light fixture and stalling a shelf on the wall. Gen

z Ers don't know how to do that for the
most part. How to write a check, how to use
a manual can opener, how to write incursive how to
drive a stick shift. Mike was talking about that, how
to read Roman numerals, how to use non mobile technology
like a regular computer. These kids can do everything on
their phone. Most of them don't know what controls the

or control v are on their computer because they've never
used it. Isn't that crazy? Five to ten tie for
traffic and weather together. Manuel can open They don't have
to use an electric can't up heard, but not a
