Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, supposedly the runaway Democrats are back today. We'll see
if they show up. We'll see if we get a quorum.
We'll see if the first sort of business is redistricting
or if it's something else, like maybe flood relief. Kyle
Sinclair joins us Bear County GOP vice. You heard the
Democrats blaming Governor Abbott for holding up flood relief. I
guess what they mean by that is if he hadn't
(00:21):
brought up the redistricting thing first. You know, if they
dealt with flood relief first, they wouldn't have left. Is that.
Do you suppose that's what they meant by that?
Speaker 2 (00:29):
Yeah, I mean I think so. I mean I don't honestly,
I don't really understand what they're trying to do. I mean,
the reality is is that this is not just about redistioning.
This is holding up funds. If they can't get bills
out of committee and into the korum to make a vote,
then they can't pass relief funds for even the flood victims.
So they you know, what they essentially did is gave
(00:50):
a big bird to the families of the Texas Hill
Country and the flood victims. I'm saying that's a dereliction
of duty and I'm not going to support you and
I'm not gonna give you the funds that needed. So yeah, yeah,
I find huge issues, which I'm grateful for Governor Abbottorney
General Paxton going very aggressive at these Texas Democrats that
fled the state.
Speaker 1 (01:09):
Well, let's assume we have a quorum today. What do
you do first? Do you continue to go with redistricting first,
or do you go ahead and move up the flood
relief and to deal with redistricting after that. What's what's
the right play? Do you think?
Speaker 2 (01:21):
Yeah, I mean I think either. Honestly, I mean they're
I think they're hand in hand with each other. That's
the special session was multiple issues and multiple bills. It
was not just about redistricting. What is catching national tension,
and what they're hoping for is that very thing is
to make this about the redistricting, to buy time to
have this and you see what's going on with Governed
Newsom and now other states trying that. That was their
(01:42):
whole point. But on the flip side of that, what
they did is they left the victims of the flood
victims high and dry. So I think it's both. I
think you need to get both of these things done.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
I wonder too, you know, from a strategy standpoint, if
you heard the Republicans they got away from you once,
you want to make sure it doesn't happen again. So
just do you just lock the doors? Do you just
kind of say, Okay, we're gonna have like a papel
conclave here, We're locking the doors, and nobody leaves until
we get this stuff done. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:09):
My understanding is that they have every right to do.
Other speaker burrows the Texas House. A speaker has the
ability to do that with sergeant in arms to physically
lock them into that make sure that they cannot escape
and leave again. I mean, you saw Governor Abbotts calling
the Texas Rangers to go assist with the rest and
and bringing them back. You saw Attorney General Paxton suing
(02:31):
them as well as the who funding them leaving. So
there's a lot of stuff going on. Look, I heard
a Attorney General Paxston say, this is the first time
in Texas history that you've had a billionaire or some
groups in geo groups paying for Democrats to leave. And
so there's a lot of issues that are heavy at hand,
(02:51):
But I hope to God that they do actually lock
them in and they have consequences for their action.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
Well, and even more than locking them in, Kyle Sinclair,
should they also make sure that they are punished. We've
been very bad in the past about just letting them
get away with this stuff. In other words, once they
got back all this forgiven, nobody lost their committee chairs,
nobody had to pay a fine, everybody got their full pay.
That needs to change this time around, don't you think.
(03:18):
I agree.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
I think every initiative that Governor Rabbit and Attorney General
Passman are doing they need to fall through with it right.
Attorney General is looking at the funds. They've got to
report the funds that they're trying to receive donations on.
They need to report the kind donation of the forty
million dollars, playing that they spent seventeen thousand dollars an
hour to fly to Illinois and in Chicago, and to
New York and to California, I mean, anywhere they went.
(03:41):
They've got to report all that stuff. So I hope
that they also do that. To your point, removed from
committee assignments, especially the chairs if they have any chairs assignments.
They need to be removed from that as well as
they need to have you know. And I hope Governor
Abbitt moves forward with talking with the Texas Supreme Court
of actually vacating their seats. Those who don't show back
(04:01):
up and don't do their duly elected job, they absolutely
should be removed from their seats.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
We shall see, all right, Kyle, thank you appreciate it.
