Speaker 6 (01:53):
Powerful you are no matter how much money you think
you may have, no.

Speaker 7 (01:58):
One's above the law.

Speaker 8 (02:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (02:00):
That was New York Attorney General Letician James in twenty
twenty four. This is now Virginia gran Jury indicted her
for mortgage fraud, so I guess she's not above the law.
Accused of lying about her residence on applications for property.

Speaker 9 (02:14):
He clearly wasn't Sweaty Queen.

Speaker 10 (02:16):
In nineteen eighty street he brought a Brooklyn home and
allegedly said that she was her father's spouse.

Speaker 5 (02:21):
Texas Congressman Pat Fallon on Fox Business. And now to
d C where the Schumer shutdowns in day ten with
no light at the end of the tunnel.

Speaker 8 (02:29):
You have Democrats that they whist their way. They have
no leadership. We don't even know who to deal with
over there. At least they know who to deal with.
We have no idea who we're dealing with.

Speaker 5 (02:39):
Over there, President Trump at yesterday's Cabinet meeting. Meantime, the
Democrats aren't proposing solutions. They're just coming out with more rhetoric.

Speaker 9 (02:47):
Democrats have three words for this, no finding.

Speaker 5 (02:51):
Way, Chuck Schumer on social media. There five ZHO three
Now more judicial obstruction, as a federal judge blocks the
president from setting the National Guard to Chicago for at
least two weeks. Larda Governor Ron Desanta says, this is
just ridiculous.

Speaker 11 (03:06):
When your family safety is at risk. You want to
see that remedied. A lot of people have moved to
Florida because of public safety.

Speaker 5 (03:14):
The ruling by Judge April Perry, who is a Joe
Biden appointee. Leftists they're trying to boycott Texas companies because
Governor Greg Gabbat deployed our National Guard to the Windy City,
and that could just be the beginning of their efforts.

Speaker 12 (03:28):
Certainly, what we've seen in places like Portland, in places
like Chicago is unleash violence with the intent of causing
confusion chaos as the left tries to force leaders to
back down.

Speaker 5 (03:41):
Political strategist fled Vidyick says he doesn't expect either Abbott
or Trump to back down or the boycotts to be
successful now. One of the many reasons President Trump is
cracking down on all of this. October is remembrance month
for the many Americans killed by illegal aliens.

Speaker 7 (03:58):
The Remembrance Projects.

Speaker 13 (03:59):
Maria Espinoza wants to support the angel families who have
lost their loved ones and unthinkable circumstances, and says it's
not just about awareness.

Speaker 14 (04:08):
They need to demand that these illegal aliens be deported
and no exceptions and no amnesty, and.

Speaker 13 (04:15):
It's appalling what's happening in sanctuary cities.

Speaker 15 (04:18):
We need our sheriffs, our police officer to assist I
to cooperate with the federal government.

Speaker 9 (04:24):
She says.

Speaker 13 (04:24):
If these violent offenders are protected in Oregon and Illinois,
it causes a ripple effect. I'm Erica Smith News Radio
seven forty KTRH and it's.

Speaker 9 (04:35):
Now five to zero four. Looking at your money.

Speaker 5 (04:37):
The mainstream media still wants you to think the economy
is going in the wrong direction. The administration is pushing back.

Speaker 16 (04:44):
What this administration is doing is laying solid economic ground,
and under President Trump's leadership, Wall Street and main street
can both do well.

Speaker 5 (04:54):
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessen there Overnight trading is flat across
the board. Despite the mongoring, the market continues to hit
record highs, but even more surprising the price of gold,
which is up more than fifty percent this year. Financial
expert Derrick Kinney says even places like Costco are now
selling the precious metal.

Speaker 17 (05:15):
It's enabling main street America to have access to what
was often thought of is exclusively for wealthier people. Now
that gold is more mainstream, more people are buying it
and really finding it a great way to hedge some
of the volatility in their money.

Speaker 5 (05:29):
Gold has now surpassed four thousand dollars announced. The S
and P five hundred hit thirty three record highs this year.
That said, mortgage rates continue to rise even though the
Fed made interest rate cuts.

Speaker 18 (05:42):
Mortgage rates are a more long term economic vision, with
most being paid off in ten years.

Speaker 19 (05:47):
When Wall Street and the bond market looks at mortgages,
it compares it more closely and tracks the ten year treasury.

Speaker 18 (05:55):
Texas real estate expert Cliff Freeman says a lack of
clear path toward further east is holding things up, and
we might see rates in the low fives again, but
it'll take time.

Speaker 19 (06:05):
I think we just have to remain open minded and
be optimistic and just really watch the economy, watch the jobs.

Speaker 18 (06:11):
He says, we could see mortgage rates start coming down
in the near future. Andrey Perard News Radio seven forty
KTRH five O.

Speaker 5 (06:18):
Six Now, a new study shows that gen z men
are coming back to church in surprising numbers. Ray Clark,
the young adult pastor at Grace Church right here in Houston,
says he's seen the revival firsthand.

Speaker 20 (06:29):
I think over the last few years culture, what it's
done is diminished masculinity and even made masculinity seem toxic.
And what they're finding is that the church is actually
affirming that masculinity in them, and so they're running to
the church.

Speaker 5 (06:44):
We're seeing a similar trend with millennial men. Add more
pushback on Bad Bunny being selected to play halftime at
the Super Bowl. Turning Point, USA announced its own halftime show,
calling it the All American Halftime Show. Charlie Kirk's group
says it will announces quote soon. I'm Cliff Saunders on

(07:06):
k t r H.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
Now back to Jimmy Barrett and the Houston Morning News team.

Speaker 21 (07:12):
Houston's Morning News.

Speaker 3 (07:15):
Thank I'd rather have a pride thank you five o
seven Here on Houston's War News. It is World Egg Day.
I'm I'm an egg officionado. I love eggs. I eat
boy every weekend. I look forward to having an omelet.

Speaker 22 (07:27):
I like.

Speaker 3 (07:28):
I like eggs, benedict, I like I like eggs hard.
I even like hard boil. I had a hard boiled
egg this morning and a protein drink that that was
my breakfast this morning. I love eggs, no carbs, all protein,
good stuff. It's World Egg Day today, so I thought

(07:49):
it's a great date to have a debate about eggs.
So we're gonna do a question today. You go to
the iHeartRadio app kt r H, hit the microphone, you
get up the thirty seconds. First name where you're calling from.
Best use of an egg or blank and eggs. I'll
let you fill in the blank. Blanket eggs or best
use of an egg? To me, the best use of
an egg is in an omelet. But that's me. Like

(08:10):
I said, I'm a big omelet fan. And we already
started the debate. What do you put on your eggs?
What do you allow on your eggs? What don't you?
And I think what you put on your eggs tells
me a lot about whether you really like eggs or
you don't. See that's my premise with ketchup. If you're
putting ketchup on your eggs, chances are pretty good you

(08:32):
don't really like eggs. You're trying to disguise the flavor.
Salta on eggs is a different story. I think, as
long as you're not drowning the eggs, in salta if
that's fine. Hot sauce. I understand people like spice, so
a little bit of hot sauce is okay. I don't
mind that. But if I had to fill in the
blank blanket eggs, I'll go bacon and eggs. That would

(08:55):
be my preference. But hey, you carte blanche on this one.

Speaker 22 (09:00):
By the way.

Speaker 3 (09:00):
Some statistics on eggs. First of all, on the ketchup thing,
a new poll found out that thirty two percent of
us like ketchups on our eggs. Thirty two percent, so
the majority don't. Majority don't really care for ketchup on
the eggs. We also consume a lot of eggs in
this country. US consumption on average two hundred and eighty

(09:21):
one point three eggs per person. That's right, two hundred
and eighty one point three per person in twenty twenty four.
Worldwide per capita consumption can vary significantly. Mexico has they
consume about four hundred and nine eggs per year, so
Mexico is one of the biggest countries for eating eggs.
The average for the entire globe one hundred and sixty

(09:43):
one eggs per person five to ten times for traffic
and weather together us. You already said you don't like
the yolks, though right.

Speaker 22 (09:50):
Now I can't.

Speaker 4 (09:51):
Well, I'll do the yolk if it's if it's mixed
up first of all of omelet scramble blah blah blah.
But I can't do that thing where they're running. That's
just you don't like you wouldn't need a poach take.
I had to expended it one time, and I just
ate it to be nice.

Speaker 3 (10:05):
You know, a runny egg on a juicy hamburger, that's
oh yeah, none of.

Speaker 22 (10:10):
Noun on a metro bus wine.

Speaker 3 (10:12):
You're running on down the side of that burger, mixing
in with the die of the burger early.

Speaker 22 (10:16):
Oh my god, you know what we let's go to
the east east.

Speaker 4 (10:20):
Sam, Here, Jimmy, this is north bound Pasadena Boulevard.

Speaker 22 (10:23):
It looks like we're okay, we're on the left shoulder.
There's a wreck here.

Speaker 4 (10:26):
Somebody bemmed into somebody else and they're just pointing at things.
And then just but probably take a real left lane shortly.
Let's watch out, okay, if you're coming up from coming
up from the golf Freeway trying to get across the bridge.
I know some of you hard hats actually come up
from the south side too. Now, those of you hard
hats who come down from the sticks your east. Sam's
looking pretty good for the moment. I don't have that
usual squish at ninety. I wish they'd put a real

(10:49):
ramp there. But you know, I wish I was five
to seven. Let's do some Grand Parkway too, both ways,
Mott Bellevue, New Canny, we look good both ways. If
you're trying to go over by the golf Ball New
Cane to Tomball, we're in good shape here in that
west part of Graham Parkway. Just use a little caution there, because, ma'am,
when we get a wreck on the west Grand Parkway,
it's usually a doozy.

Speaker 22 (11:08):
For now, we're getting by Skymike and the USA RV
Resorts dot Com traffic center from r KTRH.

Speaker 3 (11:14):
Top tax defenders twenty four are weather Center, Jeff mar
inf Terry, who's off today. Forecast hasn't changed though, still
plenty of sunshine definitely. And by the way, Jimmy Deviled
Eggs rule, would you like touchdas? Okay, I'm going to
contet at one time.

Speaker 9 (11:27):
Probably about the you know, three to four, you know
easter somewhere around.

Speaker 22 (11:30):
I thought you were going to go with a dozen
or two. Oh well, not that man, Okay, I'm good
for three or four at least.

Speaker 23 (11:36):
But yeah, you're right about the warm weather pattern as
we head into this upcoming week, and we've got high
pressure still in control. So clear this morning, some afternoon
sun up to eighty nine degrees, that's about four degrees
above average for this portion of October, down to the
mid sixties. With a clear sky overnight. We'll see some
more sunshine tomorrow up to eighty eight. Not a whole
lot of change for Sunday and Monday, and that's going
to mean some sunshine each afternoon. High temperatures each day

(11:57):
should eventually top out in the upper eighties.

Speaker 3 (11:59):
Right down seventy one one at your official severe weather station,
News Radio seven forty KTRH.

Speaker 2 (12:04):
It's Houston's Morning News, brought to you byen New South
Windows Solutions. Now back to Jimmy Barretts and the Houston
Morning News team all the info you need to take.

Speaker 22 (12:14):
On the day.

Speaker 3 (12:15):
So again we're doing a question of the Day today
on eggs. You can do one or two things. You
either fill in the blank blank and eggs. I'll go
with bacon. It's World Egg Day. We consume a lot
of eggs. Eighty four percent of us love eggs or
at least like eggs, although as sky Mike has already
told us, there's some parts of the egg he likes,
in some parts of the eggy don't, depending upon how

(12:36):
it's cooked. So the other thing is best use of
an egg, whether it's to make an omelet, you know,
you need eggs to make brownies or cake, you know, whatever,
it is your best idea of best use of an egg,
either one of those things. On this World Egg Day,
you go to the iHeart Radio, I have KTRH, hit
the talkback button. First thing where you're calling from, and

(12:56):
your thoughts on eggs first though, twire effect and whether
together Mexican win.

Speaker 4 (13:01):
Anything that you put on Mexican food goes good on eggs, Wales, Yeah, papas,
you know, potatoes, pico, chili's and peppers, anything that you
do to Mexican food.

Speaker 22 (13:11):
As hest all that.

Speaker 4 (13:12):
Yeah, let's go to the hard work on the east side,
hard hats. We're looking good east sam northbound after Pasadena Boulevard.

Speaker 22 (13:19):
That wreck is out of the way. It never was
a big deal.

Speaker 4 (13:21):
They finished pointing, and then just have picked it up
and we're back to full speed.

Speaker 22 (13:25):
Here on the Katie Freeway. Which way we're going west?

Speaker 4 (13:27):
Sam southbound at the Katie Freeway stall reported in the
interchange ramp. I can't see it because if he's there,
he's way up high. Just be super careful. Here looks
like we're moving along nicely. Katie Freeway's easy. Twenty five
minutes from Graham Parkway to the President's heads. I'm Skywake
gets your generator Supercenter, dot Com Traffic Center.

Speaker 3 (13:46):

The Russian some arabs in Trade News Radio seven forty KTRH.

Speaker 3 (14:43):
So do you think Letitia James this morning understands the
gravity of the situation. She was indicted by a grand
jury yesterday of mortgage fraud. Yeah, the same thing she
tried to try or did try President Trump for same
kind of thing. Light she lied on a mortgage application.

(15:04):
She accused President Trump of overvaluing his real estate to
get better terms on the loan. She in reality, did
much more than that to get better terms on a
mortgage loan. What's saying these days, FAFO f around and
find out maybe maybe that's what's coming around. Finally for
for Leticia James, News Nation was talking about it. Christopher

(15:26):
Cuomo get the forvar CNN anchor Chris Cuomo and a
former Fox anchor Bill O'Reilly discussing whether or not this
is a political payback for Leticia James or something else.

Speaker 25 (15:40):
A grand jury indicted at her right, h yep, okay, so.

Speaker 22 (15:45):
You're now eleven or twelve people.

Speaker 25 (15:50):
Okay, Well that's the system. So they invited her, and
then you know you said, well, she didn't say it.
I don't like crying stuff on television at all.

Speaker 26 (16:00):
All.

Speaker 25 (16:01):
I don't care about this case very much. I think
Letitia James is a terrible Attorney General of the State
of New York. Is totally out of control crime wise.
She's running around trumping up charges, parting the punt against
the president.

Speaker 22 (16:19):
Does that make this right? It's ridiculous, But does that
make this right?

Speaker 25 (16:23):
I don't know whether it's right or wrong because I'm
not in the grand juria and see what they saw.
So that is a very low standard. Keep that into account.
Now CNN has acquitted Leticia James, so we shouldn't even
bother with this anymore.

Speaker 9 (16:39):
If CNN is gonna say she's not.

Speaker 22 (16:40):
I don't agree with doing that either.

Speaker 27 (16:42):
I just I'm just worried about the lawfair bill. I mean,
you know, it just it never ends if you just
keep going after people for cases that you wouldn't go
after anyone else for it never ends. That's my concern. Okay,
I don't.

Speaker 25 (16:55):
I'm not a big fan of that either, but I
am a fan of justice, and I think Comy's indictment
is the one that is most important.

Speaker 9 (17:04):
He destroyed that agency.

Speaker 25 (17:06):
He obviously terrible things and it's son of the al
Capone thing. We can't get him for the murder, but
we'll get him for taxes. That's what the Comy thing is.
So that's more than Leticia James and maybe shift in
the real estate stuff.

Speaker 3 (17:24):
So let me see if I got this straight. Chris
Clmo thinks that Leticia James didn't have this coming. He
thinks it's just political payback that she didn't do anything.
We wouldn't normally prosecute anybody for doing that, for Loney,
we wouldn't if you or I filled out a mortgage
application and we claimed that a family member was a

(17:44):
husband when it was your father, or you claimed that
you were using the property for your personal residence when
in reality it's an apartment building where you're running everything
out his investment. Yeah, we'd all get in trouble for that,
So why should sheould be any different? Was it Letsia
James who told us that no one is above the law.

(18:04):
Five twenty six, It's time to take a look at
your money. As we check in with Courtney Donahoe, Good.

Speaker 28 (18:10):

Texas based Lays says consumers won't likely notice any difference
in appearance or taste. Occidental CEO Vicki Hollibs says she's
all for doing away with quarterly financial reporting cycles if
regulators allow it.

Speaker 9 (18:37):
Hollibs says she'll watch to see what.

Speaker 7 (18:38):

This is a great plan.

Speaker 19 (20:44):
This is a great piece plan.

Speaker 30 (20:46):
It's a plan that was supported by everybody.

Speaker 22 (20:49):
I mean, as I.

Speaker 30 (20:50):
Said, they're dancing in the streets of many, many countries
right now.

Speaker 5 (20:53):
President Trump, there, Israel and Amas agreed to the first
phase of the deal that we'll see. The Israelis get
twenty living hostage back to the US, sending troops to
the Jewish State to support this ceasefire. Now, despite Trump's
role in this, he did not win the Nobel Peace Prize.
Venezuela opposition leader Maria Carino Machado was named the winner.

Speaker 30 (21:15):
I didn't do it for that. I did it because
I saved a lot of lives.

Speaker 5 (21:18):
Trump can still win the award next year. Now, as
far as the shutdown is concerned, we're in day number ten.
Democrats voting again to keep the government closed. They don't
seem to be willing to negotiate.

Speaker 31 (21:31):
Our position has been well articulated in defense of the
American people. Canceled the cuts, lower the costs, save healthcare.

Speaker 5 (21:39):
At his house, Minori leader Hakim jeffries there. Meantime, another day,
another video comes out showing that California Democrat Katie Porter

I need you to turn these off that.

Speaker 32 (21:56):

Speaker 5 (21:57):
Hang on one second, everybody, Yeah, Porter complaining about studio
lighting on a zoom call. There are now calls for
her to leave the California governor's race here at home.
State Attorney General Ken Paxon announced an investigation into the
online chat program Discord. This is connected to its use
by Tyler Robinson, of course, charged with assassinating Charlie Kirk

(22:18):
a month ago. Accused killer Robert Roberson is headed back
to court where he'll be asking for a new trial,
this after his execution scheduled for next week was put
on hold again.

Speaker 33 (22:28):
In a new trial, all of the evidence will come out,
Robert's side of the story will be able to be told.

Speaker 5 (22:33):
Republican state Representative Jeff Leach there Roberson was convicted using
the now debunked signs of shaken baby syndrome. Coming up

Speaker 7 (23:03):
Don't send it to school.

Speaker 15 (23:04):
Seems temple to me.

Speaker 34 (23:06):
Mandy Drogan with Next Generation Texas says there will be
more strong action on harmful content from school administrators soon.

Speaker 35 (23:12):
I do think that we will see more schools that
are going to have more parents that are going to
say I don't want my kids consuming this.

Speaker 34 (23:20):
She also praised the Texas statewide ban on cell phones
in schools as another major step forward on this. Ethan

Speaker 5 (23:28):
Latest number showed that about one in three Texas school
districts want to use the new Blue Bonnet curriculum. Liberals
criticize it because it dares to mention the Bible. Policy
analyst Courtney Bagley is not surprised this is catching on because.

Speaker 36 (23:42):
Word is getting around that this is a huge success.

Speaker 5 (23:46):
The state is offering a sixty dollars per student financial
incentive to districts for using it.

President Trump is making yet another step to protect Americans
and Texas businesses.

Speaker 37 (24:00):
The President says commercial trucks made in Mexico will be
subject to twenty five percent tariffs. Glenn Hammer, who has
the Texas Association of Business, says this is a big deal.
Most medium and heavy duty trucks come from south of
the border. Volvo is building a seven hundred million dollar
factory in Monterey for.

Speaker 38 (24:18):
The United States to win the economic and military race
against China. We need the strongest possible North America.

Speaker 37 (24:26):
Hammer just returned from a trade mission to Mexico. He says,
all they're talking about is tariffs.

Speaker 5 (24:31):
Kgrh's rex So it's the City of Houston has managed
to pass a balance budget this time around, but what
happens next year could see or we could see another
two hundred and twenty seven million dollar deficit.

Speaker 39 (24:43):
The chickens always come home to roost, and that's exactly
what we're seeing.

Speaker 22 (24:46):
They just are over spending things.

Speaker 39 (24:48):
It's really to spend other people's money, and that's exactly
what the City of Houston and other cities all around
US are doing.

Speaker 5 (24:54):
Stake rep and congressional candidate Briscocine says, this is just
another reason why Texas and other cities in the region
need to focus on responsible spending. You know, Urkott did
not ask us to conserve energy this summer, but Houston
still has a major power problem. According to our TV
partner KPRC Channel two, Houston had the highest frequency of

power outages in the month of August.

Speaker 36 (25:19):
We get a lot of complaints about center point and outages.
This has been going on for a long time. None

Oh guess who made the world safe for Columbus Day again? Yep,
President Trump. Yesterday he was signing. Actually he signed several things.
There's there's a leif ericson day. He did that for
the for the Scandinavian population and for the Italian Americans.
He is officially brought back Columbus Day, just Columbus Day,

(26:40):
not a shared holiday, just Columbus Day, and he signed
the proclamation. Here is the President signing the proclamation for
those two days.

Speaker 41 (26:49):
Mister President, we just have two quick proclamations for you
to sign today. The first today is Leif Ericson Day.
Leif Erickson was a famous Viking explorer and discovered the
coast of over.

Speaker 22 (27:00):
A millennium ago.

Speaker 41 (27:02):
This is a hugely important holiday, particularly to Scandinavian Americans
who celebrate his legacy as a great explorer, as a
devout Christian, and really just a fascinating individual in the
history of our continent.

Speaker 22 (27:13):
Sweden and various other kind of Twans.

Speaker 8 (27:16):
We have a lot of people from Sweden, a lot
of Scandinavians.

Speaker 30 (27:20):
This is very important for Scandinavians and that's.

Speaker 1 (27:23):
A great honor.

Speaker 30 (27:24):
Okay, now you have another one that's cool with This
is like I think, very non controversial, tractly, but some
people would say it's controversial.

Speaker 8 (27:36):
Guy.

Speaker 9 (27:36):
This is like Explorer Day for you, sir.

Speaker 41 (27:38):
Today we have your Columbus State Proclamation for Monday, which
were signing a bit early. Christopher Columbia Columbus obviously discovered
the New World in fourteen ninety two. He was a
great Italian explorer. He's sailed his three ships to the
ind of the find in the Santa Maria, across the
Atlantic Ocean and landed in what's today the Caribbean. But

(28:00):
this is a particularly important holiday for Italian Americans who
celebrate the legacy of Christopher Columbus and the innovation and
explorer zeal that he represented.

Speaker 30 (28:11):
In other words, we're calling it Columbus Day.

Speaker 3 (28:16):
Yeah, we're calling a Columbus Day. It's not we can
have a Native American Day, but you can go ahead
and sell Maybe why don't we just go ahead and
proclaim some other Monday in some other month as Native
American Day. I think Native Americans deserve to have a day,
but we don't need to share it with Columbus in

(28:36):
order to be able to water down Christopher Columbus. In
fourteen hundred and ninety two, Columbus sailed the Ocean blue.
How many of us learned that? In school? The kids
still recite that at all? Do they learn that anymore?
Probably not? Five forty time for traffic and weather together.

Speaker 22 (28:52):
The rest of it.

Speaker 3 (28:52):
Does anybody know the rest of it. I bet there's
somebody who can recite it for us on.

Speaker 4 (28:56):
The tip lineer the free iHeartRadio Appeah, let's do a
north freeway. Got rid of that back order slip at
ted well forty five outbound, it's gone. We've also Wow,
what cleared that wreck off the east text of the Beltway.
That always makes me nervous when we have one at
the east text of the belt and it happens every morning.

Speaker 22 (29:12):
This is out of the way. If you're trying to
catch a plane, you're back to full speed.

Speaker 4 (29:16):

Speaker 42 (29:21):

Speaker 43 (29:24):

Speaker 22 (29:26):
There is a stalled car on.

Speaker 44 (29:27):
The right hand side going to the northbound fifty nine day.

Speaker 22 (29:32):
My head hurts. Everybody's been worn.

Speaker 4 (29:35):
Let me think, okay, go Freeway, Gold Freeway northbound coming
up from from the South Loop from Gulf Gate to Cleveland.
I got you, Okay, watch out on the ramp. I
don't think he'll be there very long. We'll have an
update at the five point fifty break in the Generator
Supercenter dot Com Traffic Center.

Speaker 3 (29:50):
From R KTRH Generator super Center, twenty four hour Wither Center.
Jeff Marr is with us. He has the forecast. Then
you notice when you walk out the door this morning,
Jeff is how much less the humidity is.

Speaker 23 (30:00):
Yeah, And that's going to be the case certainly during
the morning and the evening hours as we head into
the weekend. It's going to be very comfortable for the
afternoon hours though our temperatures will be running a few
degrees above average. We'll start off with the clear sky
early today and then see some afternoon sun and hit
a high your eighty nine degrees that's almost five degrees
above average, and then overnight clear of the low falling
to the mid sixties. The more beautiful weather you're going
to be heading out on Saturday Sunday tomorrow with a

(30:21):
high warming up to eighty eight degrees, and the drying
warm weather pattern extends into Sunday and Monday with sunshine
each afternoon as high temperatures continue to top.

Speaker 22 (30:29):
Out in the upper eighties.

Speaker 3 (30:30):
Right now, seventy at your officials, Severe Weather Station, News
Radio seven forty k TRH. My little public service announcement
here yesterday on my afternoon show on AM nine to
fifty KPRC. We had a guest. His name is Alex Bregzinger. No,
not Alex Bregman, Alex Breggzinger. He's with the spring Fire Department.
We were talking about lithium batteries in the in the

(30:53):
combustible problem with lithium batteries and the proper need to
dispose of these things. You don't throw them in your garbage.
It's a dangerous thing to do. So here's a little
bit of my conversation with him, because they are accepting
lithium batteries at spring Fire Department any one of their
stations for you to dispose of, and that's a lot
safer thing to do. I think most of us that

(31:13):
don't use lithium batteries all the time, or we're used
to the alkaline batteries and you know, you throw those
in the trash and you don't think anything of it.

Speaker 42 (31:22):
Yeah, So the lithium ion batteries themselves, they have cells
in them that when they're damaged, that it's the chain
reaction that's caused. You know, you can crush an alkaline
battery and it's not going to have that same effect,
but the high energy component within that such small space,

(31:42):
especially when they're damaged, can cause thermal runaway where it
just one cell after another gets overheated, starts releasing hazardous gases,
and then that can cause a fire. And it's like
you said, a lot of folks still use alkaline batteries
and that's totally fine. It's the lithium ion stuff that

(32:03):
can really really cause some issues.

Speaker 3 (32:05):
Okay, And for those who run into a fire in
the home, this is just preventive mendosine. I think for
most of us, most of us I think know to
have a fire extinguisher in the home. Is a fire
extinguisher the least but effective against the lithium battery fire.

Speaker 42 (32:19):
It will help a little bit if you notice. So
for example, if you're charging something and at any point
you start hearing a popping sound, or it starts to
smell weird, or it gets really hot, go ahead and
take that off the charger and put it outside if
you can. A fire extinguisher is a great tool to
use in this case. Like I said, those lithium ion

(32:42):
fires can reignite even once you put them out with
a fire extinguishers, so it's easier, if possible, get it
out get it outside of the house away from stuff
that can burn. Just to be on the safe side.

Speaker 3 (32:54):
Yeah, are a little safety involving lithium batteries and again
spring fire department during nine to five business hours, we'll
accept lithium batteries and dispose of them for you. Five
point fifty one. The still little traffic and weather together
as we check out the drive again.

Speaker 4 (33:07):
Here is Skymie. All right, let's hit the tip line.

Speaker 35 (33:16):
Look like a sack and just have it there in
the west lane at the least to hit right.

Speaker 4 (33:21):
That's a big banana sticker. This is a totally different
wreck from the southbound. This one's outbound and they may
take extra lane and show.

Speaker 22 (33:28):
Let me let the rest of the media know. Tracy
from Cypress sky Mikes.

Speaker 45 (33:31):
We have the ramp from this west sam southbound onto
I in westbound totally closed police activity.

Speaker 43 (33:41):
So they have an eighteen.

Speaker 45 (33:42):
Wheeler pulled over, so if you get on the ramp
you have to go east.

Speaker 4 (33:46):
All right, that makes a lot of sense here that's
going to be southbound and that's looking serious. I will
zoom that at the six o'clock break on the Generator

Ors Hamas Bob ready to full a Charlie Brown thing,
you know, with the football. Actually, Lucy did that to
Charlie Brown, pull the football out the last second. Because
you don't trust to Mosas. There's no league you trust
to Mosas. So when they say they're releasing the hostages
Monday or Tuesday, I'll believe it when I see it.
But at any rate, at this point, the entire world

(35:18):
is celebrating this amazing deal and hoping that this deal
actually does happen. Now, even the media, of course, they
went back and forth on places like MSNBC and CNN,
but even the media had a hard time critiquing or
finding anything critical about it. Here's some of the media
reaction to the Trump peace deal, with the reaction of

(35:38):
the five from Charlie hurt.

Speaker 39 (35:39):
Joe Biden could never do that and Donald Trump was
able to do it.

Speaker 46 (35:45):
Do you worry that Trump wants to get the Nobel
Prize on Friday?

Speaker 27 (35:50):
That's sort of I mean, I really don't mean that
as a joke.

Speaker 35 (35:53):
If we see those remaining hostages freed in Israel begin
it's withdrawal, it is a remarkable achievement.

Speaker 47 (36:00):
I don't want to diminish the importance of this, and
obviously blessed are the peacemakers, indeed, but it is worth
pointing out this is a ceasefire deal, right, This is
not a larger peace deal. Credit President Trump.

Speaker 9 (36:14):
Yeah, it's nothing short of breathtaking.

Speaker 48 (36:16):
And David Ignatius is right, Joe Biden never could have
done it, even though Joe Biden is probably the most
experienced foreign policy expert Washington has ever created, and he
did nothing but make a mess of the place.

Speaker 25 (36:29):
And I do.

Speaker 48 (36:30):
Think it's really significant that today is also the nine
year anniversary of when the Nobel Committee gave Barack Obama
the Nobel Bronx, and of course, countless wars, countless terrorist
attacks later, you have a guy that is sort of
the anti Obama, the opposite of Obama.

Speaker 9 (36:51):
Obama was a figment of the media's imagination.

Speaker 48 (36:53):
Every caricature that you've seen of Donald Trump being a
fascist and Nazi evil, all these things is also a caricature.
But it's like their villain of They've created this media villain.

Speaker 9 (37:06):
And the idea that this.

Speaker 48 (37:08):
Comes on a day like today, I think is so
sweet and nobody is exposed as.

Speaker 7 (37:17):
Being a fraud.

Speaker 48 (37:18):
More I mean, obviously Obama is exposed as a fraud,
Joe Biden is exposed as a fraud, But nobody is
exposed as a fraud as much as the media.

Speaker 3 (37:27):
Well, isn't that true. But at the end of the day,
did President Trump get the Nobel Peace Prize? No, he didn't.
They gave it to Venezuela's Maria Corina Machado. She's the
opposition leader in Venezuela. Not to say that she isn't
somewhat deserving, but I don't think that what she is
doing is near what the President Trump has been able

(37:48):
to accomplish. But okay, they're never going to give Trump
the Nobel Peace Price. I hope he realizes that. By

Speaker 34 (40:02):
So will this boycott actually force greg Abbott to backtrack?

Speaker 9 (40:05):
Probably not.

Speaker 12 (40:06):
People understand that the boycott is based on something silly.

Speaker 43 (40:10):
They're going to overlook it because they understand that the
people who are pushing it are silly.

Speaker 34 (40:14):
Political strategist Glaed Davidick says, this is just another example
of the Left trying to force their policies on America.

Speaker 12 (40:20):
That is the operating system the left uses. That's how
they see the world. They want their way, and they
are willing to do whatever it takes.

Speaker 34 (40:28):
Davidick did warn that if they aren't able to get

Speaker 22 (45:30):
You know.

Speaker 3 (45:32):
The one rule I had a hard time coping with
was don't cross Washingtonaw Avenue. I know, that's real specific, right.
Washingtonaw Avenue was a very busy road where we lived.
And on the other side of Washingtaw Avenue from from
our house, there was a party store. The big top

(45:52):
party store looked like a circus tent, but it wasn't
a party store. Yeah, you could buy beer there, but
it was more about the candy. They had lots of
candy there. So when we were kids, we go we'd
get a treat every now and again. We'd go to
the big Top party store and we'd get candy. Well, sometimes,
if I had some extra money, I wanted to get
candy right then and there. But I wasn't allowed to

(46:13):
cross Washtaw Avenue with my bike. And so one time
I decided I really wanted some candy, so I crossed
it anyway. And I'm in the store getting ready to
buy some candy, and who walks in the door. My
old man walks in the door. And I try to
sneak out of that place and pretend that he never
saw me. I know he did. I know he saw me.

(46:36):
I don't think I got in trouble though, Interestingly enough,
but I always thought that was a strange rule. Did
you ever have strange rules? Rules that just didn't make
any sense when you were a kid. You couldn't figure
it out. Here's some examples from some families who shared
some of the strange rules they had growing up. No
turning on the lights, storing on thunderstorm, huh, what kind

(46:58):
of rule is that? Nowhere clothing with faces on them?
So no Mickey Mouse shirts, no, no, you know, superheroes.
Nothing like that. You had to wear a plain shirt.
This guy said. We had to drink a huge glass
of milk every morning as a kid because my parents
believed it would make us grow tall. But I was
lactose intolerant, so it just ended up making me sick.

(47:22):
Here's another one. We had one drink cup by the
kitchen sink. If you're thirsty, you use that cup and
put it back for the other family members. We'd wash
it in the dishwasher every two days or so. Here's
the weirdest one of all. No stepping on the bath
mat with wet feet. Isn't that the holy purpose for
a bath mat?

Speaker 2 (47:41):
So?

Speaker 3 (47:41):
Anyway, in addition to our question on eggs, how do
you like your eggs? Blank? And eggs? Is World Egg Day?
Your rules on eggs? In addition to that, you can
answer this question as well about the strangest rule your
parents had for you growing up?

Speaker 22 (47:57):
Six'? Ten time for traffic and weather.

Speaker 4 (47:59):

Speaker 3 (50:19):
Day we were talking about how we have the worst
power outages in the. Nation at least in the month Of,
august we had more. Power and this is a month Of,
august no, hurricanes no tropical, storms no major storms of any,
kind and yet we had certain neighborhoods where the power
just kept going. Off, Now, centerpoint, evidently AS kprc, two

(50:41):
our television, partner was doing an investigation on, this and
they were trying to get a comment From, centerpoint who didn't,
comment and then finally they. Did and basically What Center
point did is they blamed the people. Themselves, well you,
know all these devices they have plugged in and maybe
their wirings. Bad is that really what the problem is
or is the problem more centerpoint? Ed herris will join

(51:02):
Us Entergy fellow at The university Of. Houston we'll talk

Speaker 3 (52:33):
Ktrh, yeah it feels that way sometimes when the powers,
out especially if you don't have a. Generator you want
to know why so many people have a generator In.
Houston it's because so many of us lose our, power
even on days when you don't expect to lose your. Power,
houston AS i, said had the worst record in the
entire country for the month Of, august which of course
doesn't make the. Point folks at Send point happy THAT,

(52:55):
kprc too ur television partner was doing a expose on.
That Ed hurst joins US J fellow at The university Of.
Houston why do you think that we have these certain
zip codes here in The houston area that just seem
to have problems no matter what's going on with the.

Speaker 26 (53:08):
Weather some of it's, growth some of it is just,
age some of it is just long standing. Problems, ANECDOTALLY
i can tell you that the transformer in the backyard
blows up every eighteen months Pretty routinely's trapnel everywhere that

(53:29):
the office, building we had twelve years of intermittent, power
everything firing, off and, eventually Following Hurricane, beryl they found
out that, well, yeah there was an insulator that had
been shorting for the last twelve. Years you.

Speaker 22 (53:46):
Know it's a.

Speaker 26 (53:47):
Lack of, diligence a lack of, care that's what we're suffering.
With that's why it took them three weeks to recover
From Hurricane. Beryl we've got trees that have grown into
the right. Someway that's not only just a problem for
the power, lines but a water MAIN i see down
the street here has now been broken for fourth time

(54:09):
in a year and a. Half the city and The
Center point need to coordinate and clean things, up get
the vegetation off the, lines upgrade the, lines and look
at the rest of the. Infrastructure as you pointed out,
earlier they're center point blaming the. Victim that's. Nonsense centerpoint
has a job to.

Speaker 22 (54:30):
Do you, know it's.

Speaker 3 (54:31):
FUNNY i think this is not to excuse cut a
point in any, way shape or, form BUT i think
this is a problem that is going on across the
entire country right now when it relates to two electric.
PROVIDERS i remember WHEN i lived In virginia where we
only had one electric. Provider we didn't have any choices
about who we get our electricity. From our neighborhood used

(54:51):
to have this kind of a. Problem we'd go out
with no. Explanation we were the only only homes that
are little cul de, sact the only homes in the
entire neighborhood of about five or six hundred homes where
the power. Went turns, out you, KNOW i managed to
find somebody who actually worked for the energy. Provider he, said,
yeah you're you're A you're on a different. Circuit you're
on an old. Circuit the rest of the neighborhood is
on the newer. Circuit they can fix the, problem but

(55:13):
if we cost about five thousand dollars and they don't
want to spend the.

Speaker 22 (55:16):
Money, yeah that's.

Speaker 26 (55:19):
That's kind of a logical. Explanation but you, know we
only have one provider here At Center. Point you, know
you can buy your electricity through any retail. Provider that's
like that's a mental. Man that's like buying roses from
the guys at the corner Of Post oak And. Westheimer
it's the same set of roses that come from the
airport every, day different different. Sellers The Center point is

(55:43):
the utility that delivers the electricity. Here and you, know
they say they're getting, better and of course they've gone.

Speaker 22 (55:51):
To The Public Utility.

Speaker 26 (55:52):
Commission they've got a rate. Increase there's a lot of
catchup work that has to be done.

Speaker 22 (55:58):
Well the question is do you think they catch up
or is? Happening is it being done?

Speaker 26 (56:02):
WELL i think we're seeing getting. Done i'm seeing new
poles being. INSTALLED i think they're talking about having installed
thirty thousand new.

Speaker 12 (56:11):
Poles that's.

Speaker 26 (56:11):
Nice that's a, small tiny percentage of the number of
hundreds of thousands of poles in the service. Area you,
know each, wire each, tree every location needs to be
checked and they're upgrading their their ability to see the
overgrowth of vegetation and to monitor the line th real.

(56:35):
Time they're installing equipment that other utilities have used around
the nation for more than twenty. Years the Center point
had refused to.

Speaker 3 (56:43):
Install, well let's hope they catch. Up AND i guess
the only way they're going to is if we keep
the pressure.

Speaker 26 (56:49):
On, well we have to be. Diligent the one TIME
i was able to kind of force something With Center,
point they had a polled had interfered with a flag
over the water burger and after four or, five, six, seven, eight,
nine ten calls nothing. Happened but a photograph posted on

Speaker 43 (01:32:09):
The boycott is endemic to, the left and it's not
going to have much of an effect because they don't
have the money needed to shop at. These businesses but
what the left depends on, is, intimidation, fear hatred really perpetuating.
Their agenda they're hoping that this will be a counter
to the, go woke go broke movement that has swept

(01:32:31):
the nation and has pushed radical leftism out of favor
with the vast Majority. Of americans it's not going to
work because it's not Saying that americans Buy into americans
See What president trump is doing and the solutions, he's
bringing they prefer that to the radical policy since the left.

Speaker 3 (01:32:49):
Is, Pushing well i've intend to agree with you on
that different, topic, here though let me ask you what
you think Of The trump. Peace plan It's getting it's getting.
Universal kudos even even a few people have been on
OUTLESTS like msnbc have actually said positive things. About it
my problem is it relies on a certain level of
Trust in HAMAS that i just. Don't have what do you.

Speaker 43 (01:33:11):
Think the peace plan does rely on a certain level
of trust and Response, from hamas which has proven itself
to be an untrustworthy and unreliable organization because they, Are
founded they are built upon their. Entire IDENTITY their dna
is based On, destroying Jews, destroying israel bringing chaos and

(01:33:39):
murder to anyone who has Stood with israel Or the
jewish people anywhere in. The world harmasa's charger is Built
on it's a, blood letter it is a, suicide pact
it is a death threat to the. Entire globe so
it's impossible to Trust that hamas is going to keep.
Its word what this really, devolves into what this comes,

(01:34:01):
down to is the vigilance and the diligence Of the,
israeli government which had a catastrophic Failure on october seventh
and twenty twenty three and allowed, this attack which was
the most horrendous Attack on jewish people Since. The holocaust
and So if israel can maintain, its Vigilance if israel

(01:34:22):
Can hold hamas beyond the Borders of gaza and ensure
that they don't Trouble the, israeli citizens to make Sure that.
Israel's safe we should be able to see some piece
for at least the, short term but it's not going
to transform anything that is in the nature.

Speaker 3 (01:34:40):
From us although most of the well all Of The middle,
eastern countries all of the including by, the way Places
like iran who've supported these, terrorist groups have signed on
to this. Piece deal both they've risked completely isolating themselves
if they screw this.

Speaker 22 (01:34:55):
Thing up.

Speaker 43 (01:34:57):
They're willing to risk isolating themselves is because that's fundamental to.
Their goal their goal is to Wipe out israel and Kill,
the jews regardless of no matter. The cost but what
they're starting to see is that across in, the least
there has been a, categorical shift an Earthquake In president

(01:35:18):
trump returning to the. Oval office these governments depended on
the weakness Of the, biden administration and within the first
Year Of president trump being, in office not only with
Nuclear programming, iran obliterated But The abraham accords that were
signed into what those countries is beginning to take effect

(01:35:38):
in other countries are beginning to line up because they
see peace through strength as. A solution so they understand
who they're. Dealing with they're Dealing With, president trump who's
not going to brook, their terrorism who's not going to tolerate,
their violence and he Stands. With israel they understand the dynamic, has.

Speaker 68 (01:52:47):
I think that it should be up to sporting bodies
to make. THE decisions about who said i think that
what she has done.

Speaker 9 (01:52:57):
Is try to.

Speaker 68 (01:52:58):
Turn, this we, talked about people you know becoming using
things to kind of. Get likes and get clicks.

Speaker 69 (01:53:04):
That's not what she's doing i've got. No truck Right
against personally but all i've seen her do is, stand
up for women's. Rights to fairness and Equalities She, actually
competed against lea thomas. And It was obviously unfair leah
thomas won one OF The races in the ncaa championship
by fifty seconds against a bunch of biological females. Who
simply couldn't keep, up they cannot be. Right it cannot

(01:53:27):
be FAIR that.

Speaker 68 (01:53:28):
IS suchic that i trust i think our sporting.

Speaker 9 (01:53:34):
Bodies should be dealing.

Speaker 68 (01:53:35):
With and by the way riley is speaking up for herself,
and THAT is her progative and. I respect her free speech.

Speaker 69 (01:53:42):
I think she's speaking up for pretty much every. FEMALE athlete.

Speaker 22 (01:53:45):
In the world i.

Speaker 70 (01:53:47):
Wasn't that Wasn't the point of title title nine in
the early Seventies was something that was it was a
major event in feminism that we finally have this law,
that SAYS in colleges right and, i think high, schools
do but definitely colleges women's sports have to be given
equal to men's sports so. That women aren't you know
AND this led in the wnba.

Speaker 22 (01:54:08):
And lots of other stuff this seems to.

Speaker 70 (01:54:09):
Be the opposite of that it seems TO be so
many instances i think where wokeness IS the opposite of.

Speaker 22 (01:54:15):
What i grew up as the rector liberalism was let's give.

Speaker 9 (01:54:19):
TO women, an equal shop i mean let's me a
male in.

Speaker 22 (01:54:23):
THIS women book for.

Speaker 26 (01:54:24):
Women i.

Speaker 69 (01:54:24):
Don't get, it it's crazy and meanwhile trans people who
genuinely want to compete at athletics and swimming, or whatever
it may be they're the. Ones who are suffering here
they need to be found.

Speaker 22 (01:54:34):
A way.

Speaker 69 (01:54:35):
To compete fairly?

Speaker 14 (01:54:36):
And?

Speaker 22 (01:54:37):
JUSTLY what's your answer then i think.

Speaker 69 (01:54:39):
THERE'S one or two answers i think they either, compete
against their biological sex as, many of them did before
or you create an entirely, new category or.

Speaker 22 (01:54:47):
Transgender athlete and then.

Speaker 69 (01:54:49):
They're able to compete fairly but what you cannot do
is continue to allow more and more trans athletes, to
start decimating women's. Records in some cases. Irrevocable, it's just
not fair.

Speaker 3 (01:55:01):
WELL it's, just common sense i mean if trans athletes
want to compete and they don't want to, compete, in
their biological sex.

Speaker 22 (01:55:07):
Yeah do, your own.

Speaker 3 (01:55:09):
Category you know trans athletes trans athletes. Can compete against
each other you'll find out who. The best trans athlete
is if the idea here is to be the, best athlete,
in your category. GO ahead create another category i don't
care about creating another category, But, men and women's. Sports
no of course. Not, it's only common sense listen. You'll

(01:55:30):
have A great, weekend see you, monday morning bright and.
Early starting at five am hope to see you THIS
afternoon four over AN am nine to fifty kprc
