Speaker 2 (00:12):
It's more of what matters to you from the John
Morris Services studios.

Speaker 3 (00:17):
Well, good morning, five am is our time here in
Houston's morning News. I'm Jimmy Barrett. Among our top stories
as we get started this morning, Lena doesn't like the
look of Ramsey's balanced budget, Cracker barrel caves and coming
up at five oay, Taylor Swifton, Travis Kelcey are engaged.
You don't have any idea how obnoxious that's going to
get details in the minutes ahead. You're in Houston's Boring News.

(00:39):
First the Straight Up the Drive for the first time
this morning, Gary Mackisonberskuy Mike.

Speaker 4 (00:43):
Good Wednesday, Jimmy and Cliff, and hello to you. We
have some overnight roadwork finishing up sixty ninety Southwest Freeway
doors bounties between Fan and and two eighty eight. We're
down to just a right lane to work with delays
back to Mandel in the neighborhood of five. Also, more
of the cones and hard hats on the EI one
forty six northbound from just after Red Bluff to Port

(01:04):
Road a couple of minutes here, should do too slow
on a few other spots. That's mainly related to some
rain around. I'm Gary Mack in the USA Rvresorts dot
Com Traffic Center.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
From our KTRH top tax Defenders twenty four hour Weather Center,
Party Counte sky stray shower storm possible today with the
high temperature right about ninety. We'll get Terry Smith in
here for the Weather Channel with the complete forecast in
about nine minutes right now seventy nine at your official
severe weather station, News Radio seven forty k TRH. It's
time now for the news. Here's Cliffs Onders.

Speaker 5 (01:34):
Good morning, Jimmy, Good morning everyone. It's five oh one
on KTRH, our top story this hour.

Speaker 6 (01:39):
That's our number one job is to balance the budget.

Speaker 5 (01:42):
Yeah, that's Harris County Judge Lena Headalgo not telling you.
She's the main reason we have a two hundred million
dollar bunchet deficit in Harris County. The subject of a
near twelve hour long Commissioner's Court yesterday and the cause
of a riff with Precinct four Democrat Leslie Briona.

Speaker 7 (01:58):
Sacks matter sure credible facts don't cherry pick things that
have not been cut.

Speaker 5 (02:05):
Briona San Precinct two's Adrian Garcia proposing a hiring freeze
to help with the deficit. Meantime, Houston Democrat Congressman Al
Green says he won't run for the age run ninth
Congressional district next year, but that doesn't mean we're getting
rid of him. He might run for another district.

Speaker 1 (02:23):
I will make an.

Speaker 8 (02:24):
Announcement in November, and I want people to be aware
of something that this new eighteenth Congressional district that's where
my home is, I'm not moving.

Speaker 6 (02:34):
Into that area.

Speaker 5 (02:35):
That district is going to a special election this November
to replace the late Sylvester Turnam five HT two On KTRH,
a new poll claims that seventy percent of Uston residents
support pathways to citizenship or amnesty for illegal aliens. Is
that really true?

Speaker 9 (02:53):
This might say more about how the poll was conducted
than anything else.

Speaker 10 (02:57):
You have to have to look at the actual questions
that are being asked. Can phrase things in a question
to get the results that you're looking for, which appears
to be what happened here.

Speaker 9 (03:05):
Wright Bart's Bob Price is the truth is most Americans
are sick of the crime that comes with illegal immigration.

Speaker 10 (03:10):
The rape of children, the trafficking of drugs, leading cause
of death for young people. You see a lot of
support for removing these types of criminal aliens.

Speaker 9 (03:18):
Price added that Trump was elected with a clear mandate
to close the border, and he's been very successful at it.
Ethan Buchanan News Radio seven forty KTRH.

Speaker 5 (03:25):
Meantime, promises made and promises kept by President Trump when
it comes to the border shutdown.

Speaker 11 (03:31):
You committed when you ran for president to make America
safe again. We've got three months in a row now
with zero illegal aliens coming into this country.

Speaker 5 (03:40):
DHS Secretary Christy Noam yesterday's Cabinet meeting. More from President
Trump at that meeting at five point thirty, it's five
oh three. Well, that didn't take long. Cracker Barrel does
a one to eighty and scraps their rebrand, going back
to the classic logo.

Speaker 6 (03:56):
It was an.

Speaker 12 (03:56):
Admission of failure and a move to stop what appeared
to many to be a woke rebranding of an iconic
restaurant chain.

Speaker 5 (04:04):
Fox's Laura Ingram in a statement, Cracker Barrel claimed, quote,
our new logo is going away, our old timer will remain.
This came after the President urged Cracker Barrel to make
the move. Meantime, more left hypocrisy. They're upset over the
FBI's raid of Ambassador John Bolton's home, but they love

(04:24):
the more locko rate. A few years back, Rianna Lineman
of The Federalist says the Dems only complained because they're scared.

Speaker 7 (04:32):
The media is desperately trying to revive that old Donald
Trump is a dictator because they're worried about the midterms.
They're worried about twenty twenty eight, and they want people
to be scared of Trump and Republicans, So this is
an opportunity for them to try and pound that drum. Unfortunately,
I don't think people are listening.

Speaker 5 (04:47):
Lyman says, the more they push that narrative, the more
votes they lose. And you can't blame former Twitter boss
Jack Dorsey for this one. It turns out X under
Elon Musk still isn't playing nice with conservatives.

Speaker 13 (05:01):
Michael Morris is the director at the Media Research Center.

Speaker 14 (05:05):
Are Republicans being suppressed our Democrats being boosted? Well, Our
study shows Democrats are being boosted and Republicans are being deboosted,
and that's a major.

Speaker 13 (05:13):
Problem, especially ahead of the midterms. So what is going
on with Elon?

Speaker 14 (05:18):
We would encourage mister Muskin. We are a study and
he can do the search for himself using the same
sort of metrics that we did and find out whether
or not the sort of shenanigans that appear to be
happening or are still happening.

Speaker 5 (05:28):
On the platform.

Speaker 13 (05:29):
Musk says it's not happening, but the data shows otherwise.
Jeff Biggs, News Radio seven forty k t.

Speaker 5 (05:37):
H five ZHO five. As promised, the President raises tariffs
on India to fifty percent punishment for their continued purchasing
of Russian oil. The Russians still haven't come to the
table with peace talks with Ukraine. Down futures are flat
this morning. Despite the fear mongering from the left, tariffs
are not destroying the American economy or our relationship with

(05:58):
other nations. Even Canada has agreed to a new deal
with Trump.

Speaker 15 (06:02):
Mark Carney, who ran as somebody who is going to
retaliate against Trump, has now said they're not going to
and they're taking off the retaliatory tariffs, which is great
because that's exactly what we said would happen.

Speaker 13 (06:13):
He said.

Speaker 6 (06:13):
The rest of the world won't retaliate.

Speaker 5 (06:14):
He also said that Trump's towers are not causing inflation
to rise. Now. Cars have gotten so expensive over the
last few years that seven year loans, once unheard of,
are now the go to for buyers. KTRH car pro
Jerry Reynolds says the prices on A twenty twenty six
are as much as five thousand more as the exact
same twenty twenty five model six years.

Speaker 16 (06:37):
As good as cars are today, somebody needs to keep
your car for six years. I'm fine with that, but
you go past that and the interest charger has just
become ridiculous.

Speaker 5 (06:49):
Edmund says the average interest on an eighty four month
loan is more than fifteen grand. That's about forty six
hundred dollars more than a five year loan. And finally,
your Don Alvarez was back, but the Stros lost to
Colorado six to one. Pre game tonight at six on
Sports Talk seven ninety, game time at seven on seven
ninety and KTRH. The good news is Seattle lost, so

(07:10):
Houston is still a game and a half ahead of
the Mariners in the al West. I'm Cliff Saunders on
Houston's news weather in traffic station news Radio seven forty KTRH.

Speaker 2 (07:21):
This is Houston's Morning News with Jimmy Barrett.

Speaker 3 (07:26):
Yeah, well she did or he did? Who has to guess.
I guess he got it on knee and asked her,
so technically he asked her. But I'm pretty sure she
knew it was coming. And I'm pretty sure it's a
big honk and ring. And here's the other thing I'm
pretty sure of that we will all grow extremely tired
of Taylor Swift, Travis Kelsey engagement news. The women might,

(07:48):
but the men. Yeah, we're already over it, right right, guys.
So I'm going to try to cover this from the
angle that you might actually have some fun with versus
the other angle, because the other angle it's going to
be obnoxious. You know, it's going to be incredibly obnoxious.
There is going to be coverage over this from from
from now until the day they get married. If they
get married, you know, she's been engaged and not got

(08:10):
married before. It's possible, you know, maybe maybe the smart
man he goes on a breakup before they ever get married.
Can you imagine what that prenup would look like by
the way, I mean, they're both multimillionaires. Well, she's a billionaire,
he's a multi millionaire because of his you know, football career.

(08:31):
So I'm pretty sure. I'm pretty sure. I'm sure he's
not worried about her taking his money, but she probably
is worried about him taking her money in the event of,
you know, things not working out the way they should.
I know, I shouldn't talk about divorce when people haven't
even got married, but I just don't feel like Taylor
Swift is the kind of person who's the marrying kind.
I just we'll see. Maybe I'll be proven wrong on

(08:54):
this one would be the first time. Okay, so uh,
back to the obnoxious thing. Well, all the coverage about
what dress she bought and who's going to be at
her wedding and all the other things that go into that,
combined with her peers, you know, she'll be at every
Kansas City Chiefs game, right, every single stink in one
of those games. And you know what the NFL is

(09:15):
going to do. The NFL is going to completely cover
her being at these games, So even even football will
not be escaped from this story. Now, if you do
want to have fun with it. There's already Vegas odds
you can bet online on this wedding. When it will happen?

(09:36):
Where the bachelor or bachelorette parties will be, the honeymoon,
who's designing her dress?

Speaker 6 (09:42):
The cake?

Speaker 3 (09:43):
Yep, they're all there. When will the Swift Kelsey wedding
take place? Even odds on honor before July the fourth
of next year, twenty twenty six or after July fourth,
twenty twenty six. I love this one. Will it be
a shotgun winning? By the way, she I have to
have a baby inside eight months to qualify as a
shotgun winning? Yes, five to one, No, one to ten,

(10:05):
So the favorite is it's going to be shotgun winning.
Where will the wedding take place? Three to one odds
on Tennessee that's the favorite. Kansas City came in second.
Where will the bachelor party take place? Vegas for both
the bachelor and bachelorette party was the odds on favorite
at three to one for the bachelor party and two
to one for the bachelorette party being in Las Vegas.

(10:27):
Who will design swift dress? Ten to one? Favorite is
Chanel on that one. How many slices of wedding cake.
Will any red eat that's the head coach of the
Kansas City Chiefs. If you don't know, over unders four
point five slices of wedding cake. And it goes on
from there anyway.

Speaker 6 (10:47):
Five to ten.

Speaker 3 (10:47):
Time for traffic and weather together as we check in
with Gary Max.

Speaker 5 (10:51):
Yeah, let's check on.

Speaker 4 (10:51):
Them speeds and we're slower for sure with some sprinkles
out there, pretty heavy stuff near conro I forty five,
first up southbound, hopping on at two two. We'll take
that to the North Loop for twenty two minutes, twenty
three on the Gulf Freeway northbound down in Dickinson and.

Speaker 5 (11:06):
Hughes into downtown.

Speaker 4 (11:07):
The overnight road work, you'll be happy to know is
a wrap from sixty to ninety Southwest Freeway north down
around Fannin. I'm Gary Mack and the USA RV Resorts
dot Com Traffic Center.

Speaker 3 (11:17):
From our KTRH top tax defenders twenty four hour with
the center, Terry is here and she has a forecast
that looks pretty much like the same.

Speaker 6 (11:25):
That we've been talking about all week. Yeah, I'm just
waiting for the pattern to change.

Speaker 17 (11:29):
Umm, it's not gonna change really anytime soon, at least
not significantly. I mean, there are subtle changes. I know
that most folks probably don't feel the same way, but
I'm super excited about this little weakfront that's going to
be heading our way over the weekend, just because it's
like there's hope that we will see fall. So a

(11:51):
little more rain and a little less seed over the weekend.
And today we've got a fifty percent chance of showers
and thunderstorms, and it does look like the afternoon hours
again will be that favored time of day, not that
we're we do have summarrain this morning, those little streamer showers.

Speaker 6 (12:07):
And there's some rain up by the woodlands as well.

Speaker 5 (12:10):
Look at that.

Speaker 17 (12:11):
So a fifty percent chance of showers and thunderstorms today,
and our temperatures will be in the upper eighties to
low nineties today, but only a thirty percent chance of
rain tomorrow, forty percent chance of rain Friday. The weekend,
it's a fifty percent chance of some wet weather. For
the most part, we're in the load of mid nineties,
but over the weekend we'll cool back down. Most of
us in the upper eighties over the weekend.

Speaker 3 (12:33):
Right now, seventy nine at your officials Severe Weather Station,

Speaker 2 (12:38):
It's Houston's Morning News, brought to you by New South
Windows Solutions. Now back to Jimmy Barrits and the Houston
Morning News team.

Speaker 6 (12:46):
All the info you need did take on the day.

Speaker 3 (12:49):
So President Trump had an executive order he did the
other day on burning the flying which calls for your
arrest and a jail sentence of up to one year,
with the President says no time off for good behavior.
You're going to serve a solid year. A US veteran
promptly went out in Washington, d C. And burned an

(13:10):
American flag and he was arrested. So we're gonna have
a question the day coming up on this, and I'll
share some more information coming up next. First though, at
five twenty, let's do a little traffic and weather together,
starting with Gary mac.

Speaker 4 (13:20):
Eastside New ninety eastbound. That's an accident after the east
Sam Houston Toway, I've got that right near Miller Road
number one. Also watching something else over yonder iten Debatetown
East Freeway eastbound again between Maine and Showlander. I'd leave
a few minutes earlier than you normally would. If you're
out and about, do us a favor. Let us know
if you see something seven one three two one two

(13:40):
tips Gary mac at the USAARV Resorts dot Com traffic center.

Speaker 3 (13:44):
From r KATRH top tax defenders twenty four hour weather

bit warmer ninety four, forty percent shower storm chance on Friday,

Living friends with Your forecast is at the bottom of

Speaker 3 (14:42):
Time twenty two our time here on Houston's Morning News.
All right, President Trump has his reasons for wanting a
law or in this case, putting an executive order in
to ban burning the American flag. The potential problem is
the Supreme Court has already ruled in the past that
burning the American flag is protected free speech. So is

(15:05):
this going to end up back in front of the
Supreme Court. Probably so, I would guess it probably would.
But here's what the President had to say about burning
the American flag, followed by Professor John Yu He's a
law professor on the legality of burning the flag.

Speaker 18 (15:19):
When you burn the American flag, it incites riots at
levels that we've never seen before. People go crazy in
a way both ways.

Speaker 19 (15:29):
There's some that are going crazy for doing it. There
are others that are angry, angry about them doing it.

Speaker 6 (15:35):
And what the penalty.

Speaker 20 (15:37):
Is going to be if you burn a flag, you
get one year in jail.

Speaker 19 (15:42):
No early exists, no nowhing.

Speaker 21 (15:45):
President Trump has an uphill battle to fight.

Speaker 6 (15:48):
I completely sympathize with him.

Speaker 21 (15:50):
I don't think anybody really approves of burning the American flag.
Let me quote the great Justice Scalia here who said,
if he were king, he would throw every scruffy yarded
sandal whearing weirdo who wants to burn the American flag
in jail. But then Jessic Scillia said, I'm no king.
The Supreme Court held in these two decisions from nineteen
eighty nine in nineteen ninety that burning the flag is

(16:14):
protected by free speech.

Speaker 22 (16:16):
But you notice President Trump rested his decision on incitement.
There is an exception for speech that's something along the
lines of yelling fire in a crowded theater. Speech that
really is designed not to express thought, but is designed
just to get people to fight.

Speaker 5 (16:35):
There, the government might have.

Speaker 21 (16:36):
More discretion to try to limit the burning of the flag.

Speaker 3 (16:40):
So, as I said, we had a veran US veteran
Monday night about six fifteen Lafayette Park, right across from
the White House who said an American flag on fire.
He was arrested. US Secret Service detained him, arrested for
igniting an object. Well, they didn't specifically say an American flag,

(17:02):
but it was an American flag. The park police said
they arrested that person at six thirty pm under violation
of not under Trump's executive action, interestingly enough, but under
violation of thirty six CFR two point one to three,
which prohibits fires in public parks except in designated areas.
So they busted him for setting a fire in an

(17:26):
unauthorized part of the park. They didn't bust him for
burning an American flag on the Trump executive order. So
I don't know if there's gonna be any follow up
on this or not. But here's the thing. I think
this deserves a question of the day. You go to
the iHeartRadio app KTRH, megas number one on your pre set.
If you would please, you hit the microphone. You get
up to thirty seconds, first name, where you're calling from

(17:47):
and burning the American flag. Do you agree with the
President that it should be a jailable offense you should
spin up to one year in jail, no exceptions for
burning the American flag? Or do you think it's a
protective free speech again, Go to the iHeartRadio app KTRH.
You hit the microphone button. You get up to thirty seconds.
First name, where you're calling from. In your opinion, I'm

(18:08):
burning the American flag? Go to jail or free speech
right now? Five twenty six, It's time to take a
look at your money. Please say good morning to Jet
and good morning to you, Jimmy A. President Trump made
good on his threat to punish India for continuing to
buy oil from Russia. The teriff right for India was
doubled to fifty percent, making it the highest rate in

(18:28):
all of Asia. The levies will apply to more than
half of the good shipped to the US. India's biggest market,
electronics and pharmaceuticals are exempt, so Apple's effort to move
more production to India is safe, at least for now.
Stocks recovered from a soft start and close modestly hire yesterday.
Investors are really anxious to get a look at nvidious

your official severe weather station, News Radio seven forty KTRH.

(20:56):
It's time now for the news.

Speaker 5 (20:58):
Here's Cliff Sanders, Thank you, Jimmy on kt RHR. Top
story line.

Speaker 18 (21:03):
Is that I'm a dictator, but I stopped crime. So
a lot of people say, you know, if that's the case,
I'd rather I have a dictator. But I'm not a dictator.
I just had to stop crime.

Speaker 5 (21:11):
President Trump at his Cabinet meeting yesterday, promising to continue
cracking down on crime despite the Democrat crying. He's also
looking to seek the death penalty for murders in the nations,
for murderers rather in the nation's capital. After making DC safer,
Trump is targeting Chicago and that city's radical left mayor

(21:32):
dodged questions on Friendly MSNBC about out of control violent crime.

Speaker 24 (21:38):
Do you believe that the streets in Chicago would be
safer if there were more uniformed police officers on the
streets of Chicago.

Speaker 25 (21:47):
I believe the city of Chicago and cities across America
would be safer if we actually had, you know, affordable housing.

Speaker 5 (21:56):
Brandon Johnson on Morning Joe Here at Home. Police looking
for a masked shooter that opened fire at a metro
stop in the Southwest Side last nine to one man
in a critical condition. There was also a deadly shooting
in northwest Harris County five point thirty three On KTRH,
Texas Congressman Chip Roy joins the crowded race for state
Attorney General, telling k TRH is Clay Travis and Buck

(22:19):
Sexton why he's ready to leave Congress.

Speaker 26 (22:22):
Save time as someone who's a former federal prosecutor, as
someone who's the former first assistant Attorney General in Texas
to come back to Texas.

Speaker 6 (22:28):
And stand up and stand side by side.

Speaker 26 (22:30):
With our sheriffs, our constables, police officers, Department of Public Safety.

Speaker 5 (22:34):
He's already gotten the endorsement of Texas Senator Ted Cruz.
New polling from the liberal New York Times shows that
Democrats are losing ground ahead of next year's midterms. Matt Towrey,
with Insider Advantage Polling, tells KTRH, this is why the
left has been freaking out over Texas redistricting.

Speaker 27 (22:53):
Any kind of redistricting that can take place in any state,
particularly at Texas, will have an impact on the overall
was in November. So I do think there's an advantage
right now for states like Texas making these changes, and
it will certainly give Republicans an additional opportunity.

Speaker 5 (23:08):
He adds that Republicans they are also leading the Dems
in voter registration and that the GOP has a big
edge in fundraising. Texas Republicans won the redistricting battle, but
they still have to win the war.

Speaker 28 (23:21):
Assuming the new districts are upheld by the courts. Republicans
now must squad and actually win the elections. GOP strategists
flat Davidia says this isn't a slam dunk.

Speaker 29 (23:29):
The districts were drawn to give Republicans an opportunity to
earn the vote.

Speaker 6 (23:34):
They're not drawn in a way.

Speaker 30 (23:36):
The Democrats have traditionally done, which is to lock in
a representatives who's going to be there for the rest
of their life.

Speaker 28 (23:42):
Four of the five new districts are majority Hispanic, while
Texas Hispanic voters have trended Republican in recent elections. Corey Jolson,
who's Radio seven forty KTRH.

Speaker 5 (23:51):
It is now five point thirty four in Austin. It
looks like the Democrats might actually get away with their
quorum break. House Republican Caucus fail to pass a resolution
backing strict consequences, This could end up hurting the GOP.

Speaker 31 (24:06):
I don't understand how you could have that behavior, and
I really do hope that it is none of the
state reps in the Bear County or San Antonio area
that are against holding people accountable for their behavior.

Speaker 5 (24:17):
Kyle Sinclair with the Bear County GOP. This is another
example of the growing split inside the Texas Republican Party.

Speaker 32 (24:25):
House Speaker Dustin Burrows has the support of President Trump,
but that's not enough for some Republicans who want a

The moderate wing of the Republican Party has pretty much

Recent devastating floods in Kerner County and across central Texas

letting people become distracted by other people's antics takes away

Speaker 35 (25:52):
It's easier to blame the outside and get frustrated with

Houston's morning News continues with Jimmy Barrett.

Speaker 3 (26:38):
Well, you've got half of your Cracker Barrel back. The
job's not quite done yet. Five thirty eight Is there
time here in Houston's warnings? This comes first. Here's my question.
Do you think the cancelation of the new Cracker Barrel
logo was more about your reaction to it or the
fact that President Trump said Cracker Barrel should go back

(27:02):
to the old logo in mini mistake, based on customer
response and managed the company better than ever before. It's
what he said just yesterday. I believe it was right
before Cracker Barrell announced they were canceling the new logo.

Speaker 6 (27:15):
So was Trump?

Speaker 3 (27:16):
Do you think the straw that broke the Campbell's back
on this one? Because you know they've been hearing it,
They've been watching their stock, they've been hearing it for
the last three four days now, and it hasn't been
going away, and it hasn't been good. There is you know,
I don't believe in the old that is that any
publicity is good publicity. Bad publicity will kill your business
at some point in time. So Crackerbrel came out yesterday
and said, we thank our guests for sharing their voices

(27:38):
and love for Cracker Barrel. We said we would listen,
and we have our new logos going away, and our
old timer will remain at Cracker Barrel's always been and
always will be about serving up delicious food, warm welcomes,
and the kind of country hospitality that feels like family.
As a proud American institution, our seventy thousand hard working
employees see you've got to come back. People will be

(28:00):
out of work. There's seventy thousand hard working employees look
forward to welcoming you to our table soon. Wow. Turns
out by the way that Cracker Barrel CEO dismissed warnings
from one of its top investors who told them that
the rebranding was obviously a folly, Julie Massino and the

(28:22):
board ignored the criticism of spending seven hundred million dollars
on a transformation plan that it was obviously folly. So
the one person who could have turned this around and
and and said, you know, what you're doing is a
big mistake. Don't do that. Don't spend that kind of
money to do something you're just gonna have to take back,

(28:45):
was ignored, as it turned out. So that's half the job, right,
Get you got. Now you've got the barrel back, got
Uncle herschel back, You got the old logo back, But
what about the redesign of the store themselves? Can you
live with a white paint or do you want all
of that back too? Five forty Time for traffic and

Speaker 3 (29:51):
Terry Smith is standing by with the forecast forest just
a ever so slight chance of seeing a pop up
shower storm today.

Speaker 17 (29:57):
Yeah, you know, it's like a fifty to fifty shot
of getting wet today. We've got an old frontal boundary
that's just kind of hanging around, and so we'll see
the showers and thunderstorms kind of gravitate toward where that
old frontel boundary is. In fact, I'm looking at some
rain this morning, not a lot of wet weather, but
we've had a few sprinkles near Laport and Baytown already

(30:20):
in Angleton and down toward Lake Jackson and even up
around the Woodlands there was some rain earlier. So it's
a fifty to fifty shot of getting wet at some
point today. A lot of that rain's going to be
later on this afternoon, once the heating of the day
kicks in upper eighties to low nineties today. Tomorrow, I
think a little more sunshine, a little less rain. I
think the atmosphere will be just a little bit better settled.

(30:44):
Let's call it load of mid nineties, forty percent chance
of rain Friday. Rain chances increase in the weekend, and
that's because we have another week front that's heading in
our direction, So it's a fifty percent chance of those
thundershowers and our temperatures will cool back.

You all remember Bed Bath and Beyond. This this is
gonna sound a little a little funny. I actually like
Bed Bath and Beyond. I'd like going into bed Bath
and Beyond when I needed something for the house. I
kind of missed it when they had that bankruptcy issue
and they started closing up all the stores. Well, evidently
they're going to start reopening stores. They've got that situation solved.
They're gonna start reopening retail outlets. One place they're not

(31:44):
going to go is California. There will be no bed
Bathroom Beyond retail outlets in California. Reason being the California
government and when the CEO made Gavin Newsom aware of that.
The reaction wasn't hey, we work with you, we'd really
like to have you back. Well, the reaction was quite
the opposite of that. I'll share that with you coming

who's also, by the way, the CEO of Camping World,
Good Sam Enterprises and Beyond, Inc. That's the parent company

(34:22):
of bed Bath and Beyond, Marcus Lamanas. Here he is
talking about the reaction he got from Gavin Newsom when
he told Gavin Newsom why he wasn't coming back to California.

Speaker 5 (34:34):
Let's look at the math.

Speaker 40 (34:35):
When you compare the fifty states that you're going to
do business in and you're going to invest into opening
up for retail facility or buying one, you have to
think about the space itself, which is expensive in California,
the consumer base which is unbelievable in California, the average
income which is unbelievable in California, and all of that
kits absolutely purged by what it costs to do business

(34:56):
in California. Between the legal process, the labor process, the
regulatory process. At the end, the yield is just so bad.
It's just it's awful, and we just wanted to say
to the governor, we don't want to open in California
because we believe that it's cost prohibitive. What I thought
was going to happen, because it was a very intellectual,
forward thinking discussion. What I thought would happen was, hey, boy,

(35:19):
we don't like that we're the fourth largest economy in
the world.

Speaker 6 (35:23):
You're wrong, I'm right, Sit down, listen to me.

Speaker 40 (35:25):
Let me tell you all the reasons why you should
bring your company here. Tommy didn't having the opposite happen.

Speaker 5 (35:31):
He told me, you know, you don't.

Speaker 6 (35:33):
Know what you're talking about.

Speaker 9 (35:34):
I have yet to see from him a good faith
response to what you wrote.

Speaker 5 (35:38):
I haven't.

Speaker 40 (35:39):
I shared with you off camera that I was on

Speaker 5 (35:47):
Who said, I like both of you guys.

Speaker 40 (35:49):
You guys need to work this out. No response, And
I wrote back and I said, listen, I apologize if
you took it personal, but it was really it's a
real true fact. I'd like to sit down and talk
about it.

Speaker 3 (35:59):
No interest, no no interest. And this is after they've
lost a whole bunch of fortune five hundred companies. The
business exodus from California continues, and Gavinussum is the emperor
with no closes, like, is not happening? Well, I don't
see anything. What who's leaving? Why would you want to
leave here? California's paradise. Well because we can't afford to

(36:22):
be there.

Speaker 6 (36:23):
That's why.

Speaker 3 (36:24):
If you can't afford to be there, and that goes
for residents too. Has he not seen the population shift?
Has he not noticed all the moving trucks coming out
of California? Well, that's okay, we didn't watch you here anyway.
You're not an elitist like we are. You're not our

Speaker 6 (38:38):
So we want to appeal to all generations.

Speaker 5 (38:40):
That was Cracker Barrel CEO Julie Messino on CNBC last year,
and after rolling out their new logo last week which backfired,
Cracker Barrel announced last night they were going back to
the old logo, saying in a statement quote we said
we would listen and we have well. It also came
after President Donald Trump blasted the brand on truth social

Speaking of social media, Elon Musk had been credited for

Won't you know Democrats were being elevated, Republicans were being throttled,
and overwhelmingly the X hourithm appears to still be pushing
Democrats and deboosting Republicans.

Speaker 27 (39:30):
Now.

Speaker 5 (39:31):
Musk has responded saying that quote, to the best of
his knowledge, it's not happening, but we know it is,
just like we know there's a rampant leftist hypocrisy. The
same people who were all for the Mara a Lago
raid are upset that the FBI searched the home of
Ambassador John Bolton.

Speaker 41 (39:49):
They praised the Mara Lago raid because no one's above
the wall, but call the Bolton raid the act of
a dictator.

Speaker 7 (39:54):
They immediately jumped to call this attribution political persecution because
they don't believe that nobody's above law. I believe some
people are above the law. Others like Donald Trump, is
not above the law.

You've arrested and brought to justice hundreds of thousands of

American people, Sir, you've had one point six million people

Speaker 5 (40:48):
To their home countries. DHS Secretary Christy no Im at
yesterday's Cabinet meeting, a new Paul of Houston area residents
claims that many almost seventy percent support a path way
to citizenship for illegals amnesty. It turns out that might
be a half truth at best.

Speaker 10 (41:08):
When you look at the issue of criminally as people

not only for no legal status or pathway to citizenship,
but for the mass deportation programs that are going on.

county judge at Emmett Houston. Democrat Congressman Al Green will

Democrats have been claiming that they'll cause inflation, tariffs, will
the skyrocket, They need a new line of attack because
that simply hasn't happened.

Speaker 15 (42:39):
Eighth month rolling basis inflation is actually quite low month
to month. I don't see any sign that tariffs are
causing inflation. Most of the inflation is still coming from
the services side of the economy.

Speaker 5 (42:50):
Brightbart's John Carney also says that even Canada's Prime Minister
Mark Karney, who campaigned on pushing back against Trump, has
agreed to a deal with him. By the way, why
the President has raised tariffs to fifty percent on India

Speaker 3 (44:22):
Six seventy is our time here in Houston's boring news.
All right, that's kind of my sentiment here. You have
the right to burn the flag, and I have the
right to kick your butt. See I'll be a little
less vulgar. But President Trump thinks that flag burning is dangerous,
that it incites a riot. That that's that's the legal
round he's standing on that when you burn the American flag,

(44:44):
you cause all kinds of other violent behavior to happen,
and therefore flag burning needs to be banned. The problem
is even if you want to burn a band of
flag burning and want to make it a crime punishable
by one year in jail, no exceptions, you still have

(45:04):
to rely on blue cities because this is where this
stuff really happens, Blue cities to enforce your executive order.
And I think we saw our first resistance of that
yesterday because after the President signed his executive order, a
veteran was arrested for setting fire to an American flag
in a federal park outside of the White House. But
he wasn't He wasn't arrested for burning a flag. He

(45:28):
was arrested for igniting an object, setting a fire in
a park, a part of the park where fires are
not allowed, So that's not a year in jail. That
that is not the flag burning offense. He wasn't charged
with burning the American flag. So there are ways around
the executive order. But we're wondering what do you think

(45:48):
about the idea in general? Is burning the flag protective
free speech? Supreme Court and several rulings has said that
it is, or is it something that should be punished
by up to a year in jail.

Speaker 44 (46:04):
Got from New Cane as a veteran myself I've served
with many people who are stuck on suitit, I mean
Democrat severs. I think it should be a punishable offense.
You're showing disrespect to all of the other people who

I think definitely the President is correct.

Speaker 3 (51:19):
Ktrh, Yeah, WELL ex is still shutting some people. Up
six twenty three is our time here In houston's morning,
News Jack. Dorsey Maybe Jack dorsey was just the tip
of the, iceberg BECAUSE x is still boosting Congressional democrats
and de Boosting. Republicans Michael morris JOINS us director of
The Media Research. Center this is After Elon musk took.

(51:41):
OVER i Thought Elon musk was supposed to bring free
speech back TO.

Speaker 46 (51:46):
X good, Morning thank you for having me, on and
look you know it cannot be overstated enough What Elon
musk has actually done for free speech In. America, remember
he did purchase the platform From Jack dorsey and the
censors there what was formally known As.

Speaker 43 (52:02):
Twitter he released The Twitter, files which showed government overreach
in trying to pressure big tech platforms to Silence, americans
and then he also reinstated prominent accounts on the platform
Like President Doald. Trumps but, yeah our recent study actually
shows that it acts is still boosting Congressional democrats and

(52:22):
deep Boosting. Republicans it's a marked improvement from the same
study that we ran last. Year but it looks like
it's still.

Speaker 3 (52:28):
Happened, okay so obviously there are still employees there that
are carrying the water jugs for The. Democrats what's the
right way to handle? That do you go through and
try to figure out who it is that's doing. This
do you take a look at the? Algorithms where do
you think this is stemming?

Speaker 47 (52:44):
From, yeah it could be it could Be stage five,
cleaners at least that's What Senator Mike lee caught him
back when he first asked this question Last. May he,
said how long will it take to get rid of
The stage five cleaners that acts those who are still
periodically throttling. Conservatives Elon musk responded to him back then and,
said you, know neither conservative nor progressives should be. Throttled

(53:06):
the point is to have an even playing, field and
he's absolutely. Right it could be someone still hanging on
to the platform even into twenty twenty five that is
doing this sort of, thing or it might be baked
into the. Algorithm, Still so what we're asking for is
we're asking For elon must to take a look at the,
algorithms take a look at his staff and, say, okay
is this still going, on because according to the research
that we've done using his, algorithms feeding it through his

(53:29):
X ai program Called, rock it's still happening at a
clip Where democrats in The house are getting twenty out
of the twenty five best, Scores republicans in The house
are getting twenty to twenty five lowest.

Speaker 46 (53:42):
Scores and in The senate something similar is. Happening it's
slightly less. Drastic sixteen to twenty five highest visibility scores
go to democrats eighteen and the twenty five lowest visibility
scores go To. Republicans on the s.

Speaker 3 (53:53):
Inside, Okay so it's not something, simple right that The
democrats are just have more of a following on or
are posting better content ON x Than republicans. Are is
nothing that, simple, Right.

Speaker 31 (54:07):
Well that's an excellent.

Speaker 46 (54:08):
Question you, know we actually look at four different measurements
and this is what goes into what you, KNOW x
kind of calls the tweet credit, score its diversity of,
followers purported, reliability follower, retention and account. Toxicity and we
actually got this idea from an account called the One.
Parsile it's feeding THE x code into groc and asking

(54:30):
HOW x actually parses out this information and provides a
score for visibility on the. Website and so we believe
that it's this purported reliability and account toxicity score that
is interesting here because you can see some Prominent democrats
on both The house and The senate who have said
some pretty wacky things that are still being promoted as

(54:53):
a higher cliff Than. Republicans prime, Example. Rep alexandria At
Kanzia cortez repeatedly spewing nonsense about election integrity, bills somehow
suggesting that women In america that are married aren't going
to be able to vote that has nothing to do
with the Election Integrity. Bill it has to do with
The Save. Act it actually has to do with preventing

(55:14):
illegal immigrants from being on the voter.

Speaker 3 (55:16):
Rolls, yeah, okay, well OBVIOUSLY x has some more work to.
Do thank you for bringing to our, attention, Though, michael

About President trump's executive order on flag, burning calling for
a year in, jail no, release no early release for
good behavior or anything like, that no reduced, sentence mandatory
one year in jail for burning The american. Flag the
problem that The president's going to have with this executive,

(01:03:35):
well he's gonna have two problems with this executive. Order Number,
one The Supreme court's already ruled several times that flag
burning is protective free. Speech like it or, not it,
is at least that's what The Supreme court is ruled
in the. Past perhaps they will have a different ruling
if it makes it in front of them, again but for, now,
anyway there's questions about whether or not you can enforce.

(01:03:55):
It The president, says, hey bad things happen when you
burn the. Flag it least all sorts of other. Violence
so if you can't yell fire in a crowded, theater
you shouldn't be able to burn The american flag in
public because guess, what it's going to cause a. Riot
that's the, thinking and maybe it'll. Work i'm not. Sure
time will. Tell but the other part of it is

(01:04:17):
you're going to have to rely on blue cities to enforce.
It that's where most of the flag burning happens is
in blue, cities and they're not going to want to enforce.
It capitol police had a chance to arrest somebody for flag.
Burning they didn't charge him with flag. Burning they charge
them for sitting fire in a part of the park
to an. Object they didn't say what An american flag it.
Was it was a veteran who did. It by the,

Speaker 42 (01:05:19):
Conroe, yeah on the burning of the. Flag FIRST i was
going to say hang them, high but that's not. Nice
i'd say deport them to a third world country and
see how they like. It they're you, know no, food
especially like somewhere where there's a lot of sand in no,
water and you know it's. Disrespectful, okay deport.

Speaker 3 (01:05:43):
Them there's a couple of votes for, deportation revoking your
citizenship for burning the. Flag, now put you in prison or,
jail just maybe send you to Elegator alcatraz and then
send you somewhere else LIKE i don't Know, Uganda, uganda

maybe a little bit more over the next few days
over what we've.

thirty percent chance of, thunderstorms And friday a forty percent
chance of. Rain the weekend fifty percent chance of showers and,

that's WHAT i think is so remarkable about what's going

to keep their people. Safe So President trump reiterated today
over and over again throughout the cabinet meeting that he

Today so The New York times had a little bit
that said that The Bobby Pete. Challenge you've heard about
The Bobby pete, challenge, Right bobby as IN Rfk. Jr
And pete as And pete. Hegseth they had this little
challenge with each other because they're both workout. Freaks and
the challenge is to be able to do fifty pull

(01:21:31):
ups and one hundred push ups in ten. Minutes and of,
course your average Overweight, american out of average, overweight out
of Shape. American you see my hand. Raised we, PROBABLY i,
MEAN i don't know in ten minutes how many push
ups do you think you could DO i Think i'm

(01:21:52):
done AFTER i THINK i could sit down right now
and do. Ten BUT i think it'd be a struggle
to do the. Ten AND i think after the ten
That i'd be. Done as far as the pull ups. Go,
Man i'm not even sure on the pull. Ups but
The New York times has actually come out and said
that it would be dangerous for people to. Attempt that

(01:22:13):
they shouldn't be promoting this because this would be. Dangerous
your body knows when it's. Done it's not like people
are going to sit there and do fifty pull ups
or one hundred push ups in ten. Minutes if they
can't do, it you stop after you can't do. It
they got into a little war words. Too did you HEAR.
Jb pritzker And President trump calling each other? Fat it
starts with that and then some reaction to the Whole

(01:22:35):
Bobby Pete New York times challenge.

Speaker 6 (01:22:36):
Thing hang on die a second right. Again it takes
one to know one on the waiting.

Speaker 3 (01:22:42):
Question and the, president of course, himself is not in good.

Speaker 6 (01:22:47):
Shape guy Like pritsker heard them spend more time in the.

Speaker 30 (01:22:50):
Gym, Actually.

Speaker 9 (01:22:54):
Tyre's what is the risk Of if you don't do any, exwers.

Speaker 53 (01:22:59):
The risk is an early, death heart, disease type two. Diabetes,
No i'm the. Challenge i'm so this is what's wrong
with media and.

Speaker 6 (01:23:08):
Stuff you build. Up, okay you.

Speaker 53 (01:23:11):
Don't if you're sitting on the couch and this inspires
you That i'm gonna do. This you start out, Slow
maybe you do maybe if you're. Not if you, can't
Like mundani who can't bench his body, weight he could
do with his knees on the, ground three pushups to
start and just practice standing up for his pull.

Speaker 6 (01:23:26):
Ups you can build.

Speaker 53 (01:23:28):
This you can inspire to do, this and if it
gets people, going, great because if you don't exercise regularly
and you try, this you will fail, miserably and that's
a good. Thing and if you pull a, muscle that's
a good thing because you're gonna want to do better
and you're gonna keep. Trying this idea that anytime anybody
challenges somebody.

Speaker 6 (01:23:45):
Like, oh somebody could get. Hurt, yeah it's why it's
called a.

Speaker 53 (01:23:48):
Challenge but sitting on the couch eating Your Hogan, dash
checking your cracker barrel stock is not going to make you.

Speaker 3 (01:23:54):
Healthy in other, words just. Try that's what they're trying to.
Do they're trying to get us. Moving they're trying to
get us motivated to get in a little bit of.
SHAPE i don't think that putting a challenge out like
that is going to motivate that many. People but, HEY
i don't see anything dangerous about. It it's seven to. Ten
time for traffic and weather together as we check in
once again on your drive this morning With Gary.

humble just like you, said there's a little bit of
rain there as. Well just these spotty showers right. NOW
i think we're going to see a little more on

(01:25:27):

day does kick. In fifty percent chance of you getting
wet at some point over the course of the. Day,
TODAY i think the temperatures will be upper eight east
to load nineties for most of, us those of us

our temperatures, tomorrow thirty percent chants of Rain, friday or

(01:25:48):
forty percent chants of more showers than. Storms we're load
of mid nineties tomorrow And. Friday the weekend could be
a little bit trickier because of this front that is
supposed to be heading in our.

Speaker 6 (01:26:00):
Direction just depends on how far it.

Speaker 17 (01:26:02):
Goes i'm going to give it a fifty to fifty
shot over the weekend of rain Both saturday And.

Speaker 6 (01:26:07):
Sunday is that that little.

Speaker 3 (01:26:08):
Something something that they say could form of the golf
not really you, know not a super tropical system or,
anything but just something that's kind of percolating.

Speaker 6 (01:26:16):
There, no this is WHAT i would call a backdoor.
Front it's.

Speaker 17 (01:26:24):
It's going to be making its way from the northeast
into Southeastern texas and then kind of. Stalling, well it's
it's a weird weather pattern right now because we have
like this little weak front that kind of just goes
up and, down up and down like a little wave
and looks like it might push into Southeast texas over
the weekend and maybe bring us some drier air maybe.

Speaker 6 (01:26:47):
Eventually, Someday, yeah, someday let's.

question today Because President trump has gotten an executive order
together to make it illegal to burn the. Flag Supreme

(01:27:14):
court has ruled twice the flag burning is protected free.

a two way. Street someone burns The pride, flag they're in,

(01:27:56):
jail but not The american. Flag that don't make no, Sis.

Speaker 37 (01:28:00):
JIMMY i don't think a lot of people realize the
proper way to dispose of An american flag when it
becomes tattered is to in fact burn it and then
bury the, ashes not throw it in the. Garbage one
THING i think should be mandatory Is american. Flags i'll
be made In, america you don't believe. Me by one
of These chinese made, ones and they last for about
ninety days and then they're ready to be. Disposed that's

Speaker 3 (01:30:25):
Rice University's Kinder institute did a. SURVEY i don't know
how Many republicans they talk to Versus, democrats but here
are some of the claims from the. Study the claim
is that eighty percent a Few stonians believe the immigration
system is broken.

Speaker 6 (01:30:42):
It needs.

Speaker 3 (01:30:42):
IMPROVEMENT i don't disagree with that. Statement where we are
going to disagree is how we go about improving. It
joining us Is Bob brice From Breitbart. NEWS i don't
know if you've seen this study or, Not, bob but
but it makes it look like everybody wants it easier
for you to come to the country and become a,
citizen And i'm not so sure that we can ever

(01:31:06):
come to any real agreement on the right way to do.
That WHAT i also don't know from those survey is
how many people said that being in this country illegally
is wrong and you need to be.

Speaker 6 (01:31:14):
Deported.

Speaker 38 (01:31:16):
YEAH i did review this the survey with a certain
degree of. Skepticism, obviously it stands to start contrast to
what the voters of The United states said in the last,
election just you, know less than a year, ago and
that was that illegal immigration was the number one issue
that they were concerned, about And President trump has.

Speaker 54 (01:31:37):
Done a great job of slamming that, down shutting it.
Down not a single illegal immigrant has been released by
border patrol into The United states in the last, three
probably four.

Speaker 46 (01:31:48):
Months and that stand contrast to.

Speaker 54 (01:31:52):
Before where they were releasing anywhere from five to ten
thousand a day into The United.

Speaker 27 (01:31:56):
States, so you.

Speaker 47 (01:31:58):
Know big difference from me.

Speaker 54 (01:32:00):
Ago now what has changed is people are seeing the
on television that the mass deportation issues going, on and
that is not.

Speaker 38 (01:32:12):
Pretty and so you, know public opinion tends to move
by what they see ON. Tv and you, know The
democrats are doing everything they can to, show, oh Poor
grandma's being, deported while they're ignoring pretty much the fact
that we're rounding up child, rapists we're rounding up drug,
dealers we're rounding up people that commit murder and other
violent crimes and getting them out of this.

Speaker 6 (01:32:33):
Country, yeah what do you make of The Abrego garcia? Event?

Speaker 3 (01:32:38):
Here this is this is mind boggling to Be you
had all These i'm thinking that maybe these were paid,
protesters but he had all these protesters who were showing
up and wanting to free kill Mar garcia and have
him stay in this. Country there cannot be that much
