Speaker 1 (00:01):
Sex twenty two. So our time here in Houston's morning news.
So Alec Baldwin watches PBS, who evidently still running the
ken Burns PBS miniseries on the Civil War, which, by
the way, it's a great series. You know, one of
the things that my dad left me was was the
ken Burns Civil War series on VHS. I'm not sure
how they're going to play it because I don't think

(00:23):
I have a VHS machine anywhere anymore, but I've got it.
It's a great series. And he said after watching that
he thought that in America is in a pre Civil
war environment, joining us talk about a hoston Republican strategist
Matt Locke. You know, there's probably not a whole lot
in this world I could agree with when it comes
to Alec Baldwin. But I don't think he's necessarily wrong
about this.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
No, he's not, and it's been for quite some time,
and I don't think we need a PBS to know it.
But Democrats have taken this to a new level, because
of course their approval rating is.

Speaker 1 (00:53):
That a new low. I know who I would pick
us the North and the South if we're going to
divide it that way. In this particular pre Civil war environment.
But I wonder who the far left. I guess they
think that they're the Union, right, And I would think
that we would think that we're the union.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
Yeah. I think everybody thinks one way or another of
they're the good guy and the bad guy and whatnot.
But you've got a group of people who they want control,
and you're watching it slip through their fingers as Trump
is doing all the tariffs, as they're trying to tell you, hey, look,
we can shut the government down over COVID, But how
dare we shut the government down to actually, you know,

(01:32):
make Americans more prosperous and bring innovation and jobs back
to America. But we're going to show you take your
hands off of all of our things, Elon Musk, And
how dare you help us save money? And how dare
you find the criminals that have been ripping America all
for years?

Speaker 1 (01:49):
Well, what's really amazing that is how many people on
the progressive left are willing to go along with it.
Even here in Houston, we had I don't know how
many thousands, maybe a couple of thousand, maybe more people
who showed up downtown to rally I noted that they
all looked the same. To me, they all looked like
they were still wearing the same clothes and had the
same hairstyle they had in nineteen seventy two when they

(02:10):
were progressive hippies back in the day. And then I
could help but look at them and say, you know
what the difference between them and me is that one
of us evolved and the other one didn't.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
Well, they're all getting paid in the end, they're being
paid to do a task. I don't know if they
even agree with what they're doing or even know. And
you're right that the rage against the machine has become
let's save the machine. You know when you occupied Wall Street,
now you want to save Wall Street. We live in
this upside down universe where they like getting that money

(02:41):
from the soroses and the NGOs and the USAIDS in
those places, and they don't want to spick it to
be turned off.

Speaker 1 (02:48):
Matt, There was one. There was one. I won't say
a little event, but there was one major event that
it finally caused the actual Civil War, the American Civil War,
and that of course was the attack on Fort Sumter
by the South. They got the whole thing going here
is Do you do you predict or do you think
if we're headed down that road, what kind of event
could happen that could actually spark something like the Civil
War for us? Is it? I mean, we don't have horses,

(03:11):
we don't have long rifles. This is not the same
same age that we lived in right before the Civil War.

Speaker 2 (03:17):
No, it'd be very different. It'll be fought online, It'll
be fought on social media, it'll be fought during you know,
obviously the economy. It'll be fought you know, with different shops,
and it'll become very regionalized. And in all these places
where you're gonna see you know, these groups getting together
going I'm not gonna buy here, I'm gonna buy there,
I'm gonna do this, I'm gonna I'm gonna boycott that.

(03:38):
And we're seeing a lot of that already with the
big stuff and whatnot and what Elon did with X
and all of the advertisers.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
We're already in a very soft, cold civil war as
it is. Yeah, maybe we also see it in our
in our court system. I think it's most of us
can be falling in the court of law.

Speaker 2 (03:55):
Don't you think, Oh, you're you're already seeing it with
the octivist judges, with with with these these federal judges
trying to dictate, with these temporary restraining orders and these
injunctions on a nationwide scale. At some point Congress needs
to show up. I mean, Donald Trump's doing everything he
can do. We need to codify all these things that
he's done, with the spending, with the taxes, with with

(04:17):
with immigration, with with these things that the left hung
on to forever, because without all of those things, the
Democrat Party ceases to exist.

Speaker 1 (04:25):
All right, mad luck, good to hear from you, sir,
Thank you. Host of Republican strategist Matt Lucke
