Speaker 1 (00:00):
A lot of freedom. I'm displaying yesterday Charlie Kirks Memorial
seven twenty two is our time. You're in Houston's baring news.
Matt Locke joins his host and Republican strategist. I don't
know about you, Mac. I got locked in. I thought
I'll watch this for a little while, and then before
I knew it, I was watching the whole thing.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
Well, it was an interesting day. I think it's a
Sunday NFL football day. I'm an Indianapolis Colts fan. I
go down to a local establishment here in Fort Worth
and all the football games were on, but everybody's sitting
at the bar had their phone on watching the Charlie
Kirk Memorial. This was something that transcended even what the
(00:36):
average American does on a Sunday afternoon.
Speaker 1 (00:38):
It's funny because the one break I took, I went
to you know where we usually go to watch a
little football and to have some dinner. And again, same
thing you're saying. All the football games were on, but
the place was empty. It was normally packed with football fans.
It was absolutely empty. I could help but wondering if
they were all home watching the Charlie Kirk memorial.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
Well, there were a lot of people watching it. I
had a lot of people reporting into me. It's amazing
what happened with a young man that I don't know
if people understood how much of an effect Charlie Kirk
had on a certain segment of this population. I mean,
I think that's the reason that doctor Trump won in
twenty twenty four was the young men coming from the
(01:23):
Democrat Party to the Republican Party. And the guy that
was responsible for a lot of that was Charlie Kirk, no.
Speaker 1 (01:29):
Doubt about him. So do you think there's a lasting
impact from this. It feels like there is a lasting impact.
But then again, who knows. You know, two months from now,
six months from now, it might be a different story.
But it sure feels right now like this is going
to have it's going to have some legs to do it.
This movement.
Speaker 2 (01:45):
There are some things that, yes, just naturally do have
legs to them that will last for a long time.
I believe this is one of them. I believe that
there are people who have been woken up that weren't
particularly paying attention to politics. So I think this is
going to last a lot longer than folks think I
don't have my crystal ball. You just said it. It
just depends. Politics is a weird mistress. It might last
(02:08):
a month. At my last two years, at my last
six months. I just feel like this is a lot
different than anything I've ever seen.
Speaker 1 (02:15):
Yeah, yesterday felt a little bit like a revival, you know,
like an old time revival, as much as it was
a memorial service, a lot of worship going on. Some
of the churches I've drove past on Sunday seem to
have a lot more cars than the parking lot than
they normally. Did you think something like this can have
a long lasting impact on people turning back to religion
that maybe haven't been regular church goers in the past.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
Oh. Absolutely. Our church was passed the last two Sundays,
which is fantastic to see. You're right though, And there's
the thing that I noticed yesterday that really stuck out
to me. The Democrat Party on ax is freaking out
over the fireworks, over the production, over what they looked
(02:59):
at as as more of a campaign rally than actually
a remembrance of debt. So when the left is freaking out,
you know you're over the target.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
That's a fact, all right. Listen, I'm just one of
those people, I guess who takes a look like I
want to be an optimist. I really do give me
something very optimist could take away from what happened to
Charlie Kirk. What do you think the end result of
this is?
Speaker 2 (03:24):
Well, I think you're going to see a lot more
young people, first of all, come to Christ number one,
which is shift phenomenal, all of the inquiries, all of
the colleges, high schools wanting to start up a TPUSA
number one number two. I think you're going to see
what you just said, a renaissance in this country where
people are going to find their way back to the constitution, God,
(03:49):
simpler times where we weren't being led astray by crazy
politicians with transgenderism and all the things that we see.
So I think this is going to have a lasting impact.
I think it's going to be a maze for America
as we move forward.
Speaker 1 (04:01):
I hope you're right, Matt. Thank you, as always appreciated
hosts of Republican Strategist. Matt Locke
