to really see something that said, take a look at what happened over there.
It was quote it was God alonewho prevented the unthinkable from happening.
Happening That tweet from former President DonaldTrump after he was hit by an assassin's
(01:55):
bullet but miraculously only grace in theair during a rally and Butler pencil on
Saturday. While the former president wasinjured, two supporters were also critically wounded.
Another supporter was killed protecting his familyin the stands behind Trump the attempted
assassination by a twenty year old localman who was killed by counter snipers after
(02:16):
he fired his rounds GOP lawmakers promisingcongressional investigation and questioning the many failures of
security by the Secret Service and othersfor the former president soon to be nominee
for twenty twenty four. Florida RepublicanCongressman Corey Mills, a former sniper himself,
spoke army sniper I believe, spokeon Fox News the minute that that
(02:38):
local law enforcement who apparently had arifle point on there should have been an
emergency frequent comms channel that they couldhave said, we have a shooter on
the roof, shooter on the roofSecret Service of Russ's stage and immediately took
the president and took him off,and then responded to the counter sniper.
The shot should not have gone off. That is the failure in itself.
Months after Democrats tried to remove Trump'sSecret Service detail altogether by the way,
(03:00):
Democrat Benny Thompson, the ranking memberof the House Committee on Homeland Security,
chair of the J six witch hunt, introduced a House resolution back in April
to terminate Donald Trump's protection detail. That bill was stalled in a House committee.
President Biden read a primetime address fromthe Oval Office last night about the
assassination attempt on his political rival. We can't allow this violence to be normalized,
(03:27):
you know, the political regular thiscountry has gotten very heated. It's
time to coolte down. We allhave a responsibility to do that. Pretty
much shadowing the unity tone of MilaniaTrump's letter to Americans that came out much
earlier, Biden calling for democracy andunity. Of course, just last week,
in a phone call with his Democratmega donors, he yelled, it's
(03:49):
time to put Trump in the bullseyequote. Trump has already traveled to Milwaukee
for the opening today of the rnc'snational convention. He told a reporter for
the Washington Examiner, we will nowcompletely rewrite his speech for the convention.
Trump officials say they are confident inthe security plan for the Milwaukee event.
(04:10):
Unlike past conventions, Committee mean RobinArmstrong says, this time Republicans are united
behind Donald Trump, who'll accept thenomination on Thursday night. We're very,
very focused on an electing as apresident. On the other hand, there
are the Democrats who are split betweenBiden and anyone else as the nominee.
Biden just gave a failed press convercethat half the party saying was great,
(04:31):
half the party say was a disaster. Trump leads Biden by five points in
the latest polling from that key battlegroundstate of Wisconsin. The Democrats hold their
convention in solidly blue Illinois next month. Cliff Saunders News Radio seven forty KTRH.
Now. Meantime, Joe Biden hascanceled a fundraising trip to Austin that
was scheduled today at the LBJA PresidentialLibrary at ut It was to commemorate the
(04:56):
sixtieth anniversary of the Civil Rights Act. It's governor, Greg Abbott returned from
his overseas mission, holding a newsconference in Houston yesterday to address the barrel
recovery efforts here and with tough wordsfor Centerpoint Energy. I will give Center
Point until July the thirty first toprovide my office with specific actions that they
(05:17):
will take to address the following issuesthat focus on improving power reliability. Number
one, removal of any vegetation thatthreatens any power line in the geographic region
covered by Center Point. I addedthat in this hurricane season, the administration.
His administration will not wait for theTexas Legislature to reconvene in January before
(05:42):
compelling action. By Center Point, two hundred and fifty five thousand households and
businesses still without power today. Centerpointestimates ninety percent of customers will be restored
by the end of this day,but some areas along the coast may not
see power restored for at least anotherweek. Harris County leadership in some hot
water now. Finally, Lieutenant GovernorDan Patrickrick documented for US that Harris County
(06:06):
Judge Lena Hidalgo refused repeated officers ofstate help, ignored phone calls, finally
texted quote, we're good now.Hidalgo says, well, the county lacks
the resources to handle the cleanup.Precinctree Commissioner Tom Ramsey, the lone Republican
commissioner, has thoughts. I haveno idea. I really haven't talked to
(06:27):
her. She's not reached out tome either. I've talked to Dan Patrick.
We had a very good conversation aboutour needs at the very time that
she was leaving texts and voice messagesthat there were no the I don't understand
it. Ramsey told KTRH that eachprecinct commissioner has the authority to take unilateral
action, which he did. Statehelp arrived in his precinct three truckloads of
(06:49):
water and food and help clearing roadsimmediately after his request to the Lieutenant Governor,
who was acting as governor. It'snow five. Oh. Well,
the Astros. They lost for totwo to the Rangers at Midt Made Park
yesterday. They have dropped the weekendseries two games to one. Now the

now out of first place behind Seattle. They're gonna play the Mariners on Friday.
Just start the second half of theseason. I'm sureber fryar on news

can happen. Jeep Bob, thissome crazy on news radio seven KTRH.
(07:35):
You were on Houston's morning news.He used to write songs about assassinations back
in the day. There won't bea song about this attempted assassination, I
don't think, thank God. Butthere will be a lot of talk about
political rhetoric and whether or not therewas a contributing factor, and there will
be a lot of talk about theshooter and who the shooter is and what
(07:56):
is motivations were. Here's what weknow about him. So twenty years old.
He small town kid here, aswe can tell from reports from all
of his classmates, he was kindof an odd duck loner, bullied quite
a bit. Sound familiar, familiarstory. Well, yeah, that's the
(08:16):
one they always toss out there.Sure sympathy. He was bullied. Don't
know much about it, was bullied. Don't know much about his political affiliations.
He made a he suppocially registered asa Republican. That means nothing,
by the way, he may havedone its leap state. He registered in
the state of Pennsylvania, which allowedhim to vote in the Republican primary.
Yeah, so that you're sure ofbeing encouraged to do that. Sure,
(08:37):
they were more important? Was hemade that political contribution on the day that
Joe Biden was inaugurated to a veryprogressive group, Yeah, right through Act
Blue? Right. Now, Whyhe was motivated to do what he did,
Why the secret service situation was theway it was. We'll bring about
a lot of questions. It's amazingto me share how many conspiracies theories were
(09:00):
flying over the weekend. You know, the wildest conspiracy theory I heard that
was actually being floated. Oh,I think that maybe the Trump campaign arranged
for this so he could get sympathyand you know, it would be good
for his election chances. I don'tlike to call them conspiracy theories because crackpots,
because too many times conspiracy theories haveproven out to be true. Yeah.
(09:22):
Now, one the crackpot theory.Yeah, that's a good point.
That's a crackpot. Now conspiracy theorythat I would think about this morning is
you know whether or not this administrationpurposely did not give the Trump campaign enough
resources to protect him. Number oneand number two, how it was that
(09:43):
we had a perimeter within one hundredand fifty yards of that stage where you
had a building, an elevated building, so he could get up on it.
Was a clear line of site, wasn't being guarded, clear line of
site wasn't being guarded. No dronein the air, Nope. The counter
snipers had the guy in his sites, but apparently didn't fire until after he
fired a police officer who approached himup the ladder on a local police officer,
(10:07):
and when alleged supposedly the sniper turnedto I mean the shooter turned around
and pointed his rifle at that policeofficer. He withdrew. I would have
to say, there's just so manyYep, there's a lot about this case
that needs to be investigated. Idon't know if anything ever comes of it,
though. You know, the oneperson who might be able to tell
you something is the twenty year oldwho's doing the shooting. And of course
(10:28):
he's been eliminated. He's gone.We don't have to worry about him anymore.
Five eleven, time for traffic andweather. Together we're checking out the
drive. Here is sky Mike.We had an earlier accident. We got
off to a tough start. Actuallythere was a big wreck before most of
us got on the freeways on theNorth Loop, right in front of the
Farmer's Market airline, the Farmer's Marketexit. So if you're trying to go,
(10:48):
he's founded the squeeze. Now that'sclear. They keep looking around.
I'm seeing the moving stuff, movingcameras at trench Stow. What are you
looking for, dev I don't seeany kind of back up here. And
also on the online some of themare showing this wreck still here. I'm
not seeing anything. They're showing athree lines. They're showing three lanes flocked
on some of your sources here, but there's nothing. Stay the course.
(11:09):
If your north loop is the normalthing, just be ready westbound for you
know, a little squeeze down inthat we could curve. Dude, Terry,
I'm not cheating on you, butI swear I saw a blue line
up there Skymike and the Generator.I was like, I was at a
gas station and they had a TVon, and the lady on TV gave
me a blue line, which youhaven't given me a long time. I'm

is our time here in Houston's morningnews. Tom Holman is an early riser.
(15:20):
Thank goodness for us that he isan early riser. He joins us
here this morning, the former actingIce director, former police officers. Well,
Tom, I know you've watched allweekend what unfolded at that rally in
Pennsylvania. What do you make ofthe attempt of the Secret Service to protect
the president? Was this a cataclysmicfailure? Well, look for a guy
to get on the roof of therifle at a high altitude of direct sight
(15:45):
to the president. Yeah, thatwas a fail. That was a fail.
But as I said on the networkseveral times yesterday, the presidents the
presidents Security team is his detail. We're fabulous. I've been on that stage
many times in the president I spokeon that podium, and I know how
(16:07):
things operating. No one's on thestage for the president at each in the
stage, there's there're set of stairsand as usually an agent or two at
that on each of those stairs andthere's agents in the front of the stage.
As soon as the shots rang out, these agents got up those stairs,
across that big stage and over thePresident in a matter of two to
(16:30):
three seconds. I think we shouldgive some credit to Donald Trump too,
because he took himself down. Yeah, that's where he's he's that's what he's
trained to do it. Yeah,he's trained to do that. They tell
him that there's there's security features inthat body that vody of travels with him.
There are security features on stage thatkeep him protected once he's down to
me. Yeah, yeah, consideringthe stress and you know, the surprise,
(16:55):
he did exactly what he's trained todo. But I want to stress
his detail. Who I personally knowmany of these men and women my first
name because I'm with him a lac. They did fabulous. They got over
that president's seconds. Then you know, I was getting you know, then
people say, well it took toolong to get them off stage. Well,
you got to understand, he justgot he just got jumped on by
(17:17):
four adult men somber one. Wedon't know if President got wind ACKed out
of them, and you know,a little bit of shock. But then
people don't understand all these guys haveyour pieces on. They're listening to command.
I'm sure the inciant commander's telling themstay down. Were scanning for other
shooters. They want to make surethere's no other shooters for their move off
fest tame. You can hear theydon't know if they don't know if they
escaped Carras in place yet they gotto pull that in. So there's other
(17:40):
things going on. But I thinkthat I think that his detail, his
men and women, were fabulous. What about the assets that the Trump hand
pain has been given. There's beena lot of talk that they're training this
like any other former president, likea Jimmy Carter, for example, or
a Barack Obama. They're not trainingit like they should with a guy who's
out and active and it rallies withthirty forty fifty thousand people or more.
(18:00):
Where were the drones? Where werethe other assets technology assets that the Secret
Service has for the current president ofthe United States. Why weren't some of
those utilized for President Trump? That'sa question that's when we asked. I
was actually talking to Mark Green, who is a chairman of the Homes Security
Oversight, which Secret Service falls withinI was actually trading with phone calls in
(18:22):
yesterday. He's actually going to runthe investigation, and he's asking us questions
what exact access were available to PresidentTrump? What should you have more?
What are you base on those numberof assets? On? What's the criteria?
So there's gonna be a deep guyof investigation on what President Trump was,
what he had, and what heshould have had. Can I ask
you, do you know that thatthe snipers, the counter snipers, they
(18:47):
had the sniper trained in their size, they did not fire until he fired.
Were they on a stand down?Do they have to wait? Do
these counter snipers when they see somebodywith a gun, can't they not just
take that site, that target outor they have to wait for the clearance
to do this? You they cantake them out. As far as my
(19:07):
understanding, the problem is again wegot away for investigations come up. But
the people I talked to are thereare claiming that the snipers, the Secret
Service pipers, did not key onhim until the last minute. No one
knew he was there. You know, so you know when you're sniper,
when you're when you're a Secret Servicesniper, you're up there scanning the area,
(19:30):
now maybe they took their eyes offthat rifts are scanning, the other
roofs are scanning the crowd. Whoknows, But again I fail right,
Uh, my personal opinion during theduring the when when they first screen that
entire area for this rally, oncethey identified those high points, it should
have been secured. Once they realizedthe say okay, everybody's secured, everything
(19:51):
has been screened, we're ready togo. So even local law enforces,
somebody should have been on those buildingsto make sure no one climbs up and
does anything that there. It wasa fail, uh, And that's what's
gonna be investigated. Why was thatrough at Mancher twenty four to seven?
Why was that rough not secured? And how do they not know that guy
climbed up so subvesing scene that reportedit right there for the shooting. Sure
(20:15):
that's the bail. Some of therallygoers saw him and then they claim they
reported it, but nobody was doinganything about it. Tom will have to
leave it at that for now,but thank you, sir, appreciate your
time as always. Former acting IceDirector, former police officer Tom Homan seven

President Donald Trump now expanded into aninvestigation as an act of domestic terrorism.
(22:37):
Fox at CEB Cotton in Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, where investigators reportedly found explosives
at the home where the twenty yearold assassin lived with his parents. Some
very alarming discoveries inside that home. We're told those have already been shipped out
to the FBI's lab in Quantico. But my law enforcement sources are telling me
the focus is now shifting to gainingaccess into the shooter's phone. I'm told
(23:03):
that federal agents will not feel confidentin their assessment that the shooter acted alone,
and told they're able to go inthat phone and see who he was
communicating with. Now, that assassin'svolley of bullets struck not just Trump but
his supporters in the stands behind thewounded president. Retired firefighter Chief Corey Comparatore
(23:23):
was killed protecting his family, shieldingthem from the bullets. Two other supporters
critically injured. The nephew of TexasCongressman doctor Ronnie Jackson was grazed in the
neck with one of the passing bullets. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas now under
fire. Did he actually deny additionalsecurity requests that were coming from the former
(23:45):
president? Florida Representative Mike Wallace sayshe has reliable sources telling him that the
Trump team has made repeated requests forstronger security, denied by majorcas and dhs.
The left, of course, fuelingthe fire of whatever anger might be
(24:06):
towards Donald Trump. Days just beforethe assassination attempt on the former president,
the former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi wasamong many. She took to social media
telling followers a quote, Trump mustbe stopped. Donald Trump nonetheless has traveled
to Milwaukee. He did it yesterday, keeping the Republican National Convention on schedule
(24:27):
there. The Milwaukee Police Department ChiefJeffrey Norman says, well, his city
is prepared. We are planning asmuch as we can plan regards of what
we know, and we're looking forwhat we don't know. But we are
planned and actually ready with the resources. Yeah. Donald Trump said, I
cannot allow a shooter or potential assassinto change the schedule of the RNC,
(24:52):
But he did tell a reporter whilehe was in flight to Milwaukee he is
going to totally rewrite the speech thathe was going to give. Kt Right

(25:12):
Reference Survey, we now find thatRepublicans have an advantage over Democrats in a
party affiliation for the first time ever. Republicans are gaining momentum thanks in part
to Joe Biden's decline. Democrats havea real problem. They have been gas
flighting the American people for three anda half years. They have known about
(25:33):
his condition, and the media hasbeen complicit. Political strategist Raven Harrison told
KTRH this is going to motivate theDemocrats to play dirty and the GOP needs
to be ready. We still havein Michigan, Wisconsin and other states have

Republicans have momentum, but they can'tget complacent. Ethan Buchanan News Radio seven

it'll be probably Friday Saturday of thisupcoming week. Yeah, and we're hearing

the house got sand blasted. Waysit did. I'm sure it did with
all that wind and all that.Yeah, it all, you know,
the paint just just almost completely removedfrom the decking and and all that.
(30:00):
It's going to happen pretty corrosive toyou, Yeah, exactly. So it's
a little bit of a mess. But I thought we'd shared this with you.
Here. Here's here's a Governor GregGabbat along with Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick.
They're not very happy, and they'remaking it very clear. Prolligations have
been made that while Texans have beenbaking in deadly heat without power, Center
Point was penny pinching and cutting cornersand ways that slowed the recovery process.
(30:26):
Those allegations must be investigated. Wemust know was Center Point protecting Texans or
was it protecting its own pocketbook?I know everyone at Center Point who's in
an air conditioned office is watching afreight train's coming. You've just heard it.
(30:48):
You better be prepared. Freight trainis coming. Okay, so there
will be an investigation. I'm surethe Governor's office and Lieutenant Governor's office had
heard loud and clear from very Upsetto residence. But there is one thing
I don't understand, and that isthreats of violence against Centre Point workers.
We're gonna have some audio to shareon that coming up a little bit later
in the show. Right now, five forty one, I feel like Marie
(31:11):
Antoinette having power. Let them eatcakes. Guy mind. Yeah, I
feel like people are gonna come upto my house with pitchforks and torches,
you know, storm the ghetto house. I actually messaged a girl last night,
I have power. Let's go tothe North Side again and I new
pickup line. That's what I'm saying, Hey, maybe I got power.
Uh North Freeway here I forty fivesouthbound. A little bit of a spackle
(31:34):
around the Shepherd Curve. I don'tthink we have our morning wreck at the
Shepherd. We always seem to getone right there. Just watch out for
some breaking people after Golf Bank. This is on the inbound toll bridge.
That spackle has started already southbound. We're looking at an extra five or six
minutes. Let's jump on the six' ten Sherman Bridge and get around all
that business. And you can't makethis stuff up all the East Text Freeway
(31:56):
Gary Granger Land Again, I'm not, but it really really looked like a
burrow or a jackass laid real closeto the yellow line. All right,
I'm gonna call that livestock astray onthe East Tech southbound around Hopper. This
is your Generator Supercenter dot com traffic. So that another deck of line doesn't
work. I could try a heybaby, once you come over and wash

our KTRH Generator Supercenter twenty four hourWeather Center. Terry Smith is here.
That's all we can do at thispoint. Terry's just laugh about it.
I guess we got to find something. Yep, I agree with you.
Well, I'm just glad mother naturehasn't gone too crazy with the heat and
humidity. I mean it's typical Julyheat and humidity, which is pretty rough
(32:43):
by itself, but at least thatand we do have some better chances of
rain and a little bit less heattowards the end of the week. I'm
gonna really watch how that pans out. It's a cold front that's had it
our way, and we don't usuallyget cold fronts in July. So twenty
percent chance though that you'll see somerain today or tomorrow. Not much rain,
load of mid nineties both days. Our rain chances increase Wednesday ahead of
(33:05):
that front, a fifty percent chanceof rain Wednesday and Thursday. Sixty percent
chants of rain by Friday. ThursdayFriday, that's when we see the temperatures
perhaps shade down or just a littlebit uper eighties to load nineties toward the
end of the week. Temp You'reright now seventy nine at your official severe

the attempted assassination of President Trump. We'll talk to Congressman Troy Nails about that.
I don't know if he's going tothe RNC the Republican Convention gets underway
(33:49):
today, but we'll talk to himabout that if he is as well.
Evidently the president's reworking his speech fortonight. Supposedly it's gonna be more about
unity. There's a lot of callsfor unity this morning. I just have
to wonder how long that that canpossibly last. Catched off by an incredible
letter that was written by Milania Trump. Yes, she released. She's the
one who called for it, andI thought, gee, here's Joe Biden,
(34:10):
his rider's plagiarizing. Well, MellanBelania Trump, Yeah they did.
You're right about that. We'll talkto Troy Nails next. First shame first
though, traffic and weather together, what's going on? Say Mike, let
me give Troy Nails a lot oftime. All I've got is east text

to our program here this morning.Congressman, what were you thinking when you
first heard the news that there wasan attempt at assassination attempt on President Trump?
Good morning, Jimmy. I wasactually at home with my family and
then started receiving the reports that Iwas absolutely shocked. I mean, we
(36:07):
know that Donald Trump has been attendingrallies for several years, and we get
we see tens of thousands of peopleshow up to his rallies. I've been
to some of those rallies. I'vebeen tomar Lago and Bedminster, and I've
seen quite incredible security footprints when yougo and visit the president or go to
(36:29):
these rallies, attend these rallies. But it just seems like there were some
real issues surrounding the security apparatus thatthey had set up there in Butler,
Pennsylvania the other day. Very concerningin many ways as a congressman, what
will you do? What will theCongress do? Or is everybody so busy
(36:49):
trying to get themselves reelected that they'renot going to really hold people accountable for
this obvious lapse in security for DonaldTrump. No, I think there will
be accountability here. I mean, how could you not. I mean,
Donald Trump is our leader of ourparty, denominee, and I believe favored
to be the forty seventh president. And when you have a security incident like
(37:14):
this where an individual what one hundredand fifty hundred and sixty yards away with
a long barrel rifle is able totake a shot at the former president,
I mean that is that's a securityfailure and intelligence failure, and I believe
it will be addressed. Obviously,we're not up there this week. We
have the convention this week, butwhen we get back to following Monday,
(37:37):
I can assure you that Oversight andHomeland Security will be holding hearings on this
to try to get to the bottomof it. At the actual convention itself,
supposedly President Trump is reworking his speechis more about unity than it is
going to be about a party platform. I guess he's going to leave that
up to some of the other speakerswhile he focuses on the unity issue.
(37:58):
I don't know how long they showunity lasts, especially amongst the Democrats.
I would expect it's probably going tolast at least through the week, but
I don't look to it to lasta whole lot longer than that. Are
you more hopeful than I am?No, not really. What we've known
with the Democrats, going back tothe Summer Rise of twenty twenty and everything,
(38:21):
there just doesn't seem to be awhole lot of unity and a lot
of peaceful protests. I think thatwhen you think about Democrats, with many
of them talking about a violence innot condoning the violence, they condone the
violence when you see something like thistake place, what we saw the other
day with President Trump being they triedto assassinate him. So yes, I
(38:43):
think that may last for a fewhours, but I tell you, for
the next ninety days, it's goingto get in my humble opinion, it's
going to get ugly. With thiselection. It just is. There are
Democrats that will do anything and everythingto make sure Donald Trump is not brought
back here reelected as the forty sevenpresident. So I am concerned about security
for this country over the next ninetydays, for President Trump's safety, and
(39:07):
we just have to make sure thatwe are on the lookout, we are
aware because there are a lot thereare a lot of bad mbres out there.
There were some calls at Congress stayin emergency session instead of taking a
recess during the election time. Wouldyou be in favor of that. Yeah,
I'm in favor of doing everything wecan to try to save our country,
(39:28):
and we need to do everything wecan. We be need the Republican
Conference in Washington, d C.To make sure that Donald Trump gets re
elected. That means to be outthere in our districts, getting people to
vote, getting them registered vote, and getting them to vote, exercising their
god given right. I'm not talkingabout reagul elections. They're cheating in elections.
(39:50):
I'm talking about just get every individual, every Republican we know out there
to go out and vote and DonaldTrump will win this election. You also
need to get unity there in Congressbecause you try to defund some of these
outrageous immigration issues, and you hadRhino Republicans who sided with the Democrats on
that one. Yeah. Yeah,we see it every week up there when
(40:13):
we're there, and that's why I'vesaid for for a long time the number
one priority for our Republican Conference inthis country is to get Donald Trump re
elected. I believe we will keepthe House. I believe now we will
keep the Senate as well, orwe'll get the Senate back. With what
took place in Pennsylvania and now,the Democrats can't be talking too much right
(40:34):
now about trying to find a replacementthe Joe, because it's everybody's talking about
the attempted assassination of Donald Trump. So they're in a very difficult situation right
now. That may mean the Democrats, all right, Congressman, thanks always
appreciated Texas Congressman Troy Nails. It'sfive fifty seven is Use radioh Houston Live

that their nominees should be so Ibelieve they're in absolute disagree and I think
that it's going to lead to anoverwhelming defeat for the Democrat Party in November.

You work with a bunch of losers, you don't really look forward to go

How's the tone in this convention,Sir? Changed since the Saturday assassination of
(55:14):
the champ against President Trump. Thetone here is actually it's it's much more
excited. And I'll tell you why. You know, we are. It
sounds a little unused, but itreally is. We are. We're excited
because we saw a president that showedmore courage, killed more just guts,
(55:37):
more more warrior like you know status, I mean, just really showed how
strong he is after this assassination attempt, he got up, you know,
pointed his fist in the air,and I think he's going to come into
the convention Center on Thursday when heaccepts the nomination as a as a conquering
hero, as one who has survivedand attack from the left. I think
(56:00):
we're really really excited. We're sohappy that he's okay. You know,
it's such a shock where everybody whenwe saw what was happening on television,
we had gotten the end early becausewe wanted to see him get tell us
who his vice presidential pick was,and so it was supposed to happen that
day, and then when all thishappened, it just everyone was stunned and
(56:20):
in shock, and we were inprayer to make sure he was okay.
Now we're so excited that he's okay, and we just planned to just really
really really really accept this, havehim accept his nomination. It's going to
be a high level of excitement. We're very, very excited to get this
moving and win this election. Wedidn't say that you're a national hear doctor,
(56:42):
we didn't say that you're a nationalcommitteeman, So I mean you are
really playing a distinct role there. It was announced yesterday the Nikki Haley has
now been invited to speak at theconvention. This was not this has happened
just since the assassination attempt. Isthis a greater display of unity? I
mean, legacy media is just goingon and on and on about Oh no,
(57:04):
does that mean she could be aVP pick. I think it's more
to show that the party is goingto unite around Donald Trump. Our party
is fully unified around Donald Trump rightnow, all different aspects of a party.
I think we're more united now thanwe ever have been as a party.
You know, I think everybody's comingbehind him and going to support him.
(57:25):
You know, we had a prayervigil yesterday with Turning Point of Faith
where I was able to speak andpray, and we're just all coming together
as it was a packed crowd. This thing was put together in less than
twenty four hours, pat crowd withinternational media there, and so it's just
an opportunity to just show that theRepublican Party is unified around this president.
(57:49):
And I think that what happened withthe assassination attempt and him surviving, We're
so excited, so glad it wasan absolute miracle that he survived at and
so we're just we're i to watchhim come out and accept his nomination.
We're gonna actually do the roll callthis morning. It's gonna be this afternoon
around twelve thirty. We're gonna dothe role call of the States, and
we're gonna get the nomination done today. We normally don't do it this early,
(58:13):
but we're going to do that today, and then we're gonna watch and
see who the VP is, watchhim give his speech on Wednesday, and
then the President's going to accept thenomination on Thursday. It's very exciting.
So you expect that the decision orthe decision is probably no doubt already been
made or has it been made.Do you think what happened Saturday has any
impact at all on who he's gonnapick as his vice presidential running me?
(58:36):
You know, I really don't thinkso, but I believe that, you
know, he's got to let usknow who it is because it's gonna he's
got he's got got a big speechto give on Wednesday. So so yeah,
he's gonna gonna announce that and it'sgoing to be really exciting. I
think it's kind of this has neverhappened before where the VP has been name
has been held as long, andso I think it's going to be exciting
(58:59):
to hear who that is. It'sgoing to just generate a whole lot more
excitement. Certainly, this assassination offailure and his survival of that is going

kind of have to think a littlebit shera, you know, maybe part
of the problem, and I'm tryingto give a benefit of the doubt to
the planning of this operation as faras protecting President Trump. Maybe part of
the problem is we're dealing with asmall local police force in conjunction with helping

problem. Butler, Pennsylvania is nota big place, you know, it's

There's a lot of anger out there, a lot of political writer out there
(01:36:30):
that had to have an impact animpressiable twenty year old mind, at least
in my world. Will we nowtone it down or will it just be
a temporary reprieve. Here's former AttorneyGeneral Bill Barr on the topic. Yeah,
I think this trying to pin downthe precise motive and how much of
it was mental imbalance or emotional imbalance, and how much of it was political
(01:36:54):
is a bit of a fool's errandthere's a mixture of things there. And
the bottom line, I think isthat when someone is demonized to the extent
that Trump was being demonized, you'reputting a target on them, and you're
increasing the risk that they are goingto become a target. For someone who
has a mixture of these factors, you know, imbalance, some potential political
(01:37:15):
element to it, they'd become thetarget. And what was concerning me was
that. And I understand both, you know, the people on both sides
that engage in extreme rhetoric occasionally, but what was bothering me was that the
thrust of the democratic narrative for thiselection year had become the trust was a
mortal danger to our democracy and ifhe wins, the country's going away.
(01:37:40):
And when you take that position, you know, that is an apocalyptic and
hysterical position that's bound to lead tothe violence eventually. The sentiments expressed by
the President and his remarks just now, we're very noble, and I hope
they follow them because if they belieleave it, they will scale back the
(01:38:01):
rhetoric. And what he said aboutyou know, differences in policy. Fine,
you can attack your adversaries, youcan attack their character and their policies
and so forth. But they demonizedhim, call him Adolf Hitler, a
racist and a fascist and so forth. Tridiculous. He's not a threat to

democracy that they're portray. He waspresident for four years and he carried out
excellent policies and it was all donelawfully. Yeah, but they'll be back

Monday morning quarterbacking going on, Jonathan, is what is your thoughts about how
(01:53:56):
that went and where the security lapsesalmost led to a tragic Well, first
off, let me just say thisrecord they just said, did doctor Ruth
died two days ago? And Itried to get her to write the intro
to my book, but she wastoo busy. But she was actually a
sniper in Israeli Haganah. Now howamazing is that? And and yeah she
(01:54:17):
I think she has more kills thana lot of the guys that I know,
than the and most people never knewthat. Most people never knew that
about Okay, So get back tothis, right, you know from the
from when you look at this fromthe experts point of view, and you
have experience in this. And thisis the problem with social media is everybody
(01:54:41):
thinks that they're an expert. Whenyou watch the videos of what occurred,
and then you start asking the questionsof how did this occur? How did
that shooter or get on that building. You see something that we use in
an investigation called the totality of theevidence. And it is unbelievable because that
(01:55:03):
was a failure from the time theystarted hiring people, from the training,
from the way they did the threatassessment for that event, all the way
through to the point where the Presidentwas finally in a vehicle on pulling off.
It was one failure after another, and I just I've been shocked,
(01:55:26):
and it's hard for me to actuallyverbalize it because I've never seen anything like
this from an agency that's supposed tobe considered elite in protecting dignitaries and presidents.
And sadly the rest of the worldsees it too. And now we
should we have confidence in the FBIand the DHS doing the investigation. I
(01:55:49):
mean DHS is in charge now.The Secret Service comes under the under DHS.
It used to be the Treasury, now they're under DHS. I don't
feel comfortable with that because DHS hasso many issues the FBI when it's when
it comes to Trump and the djthey don't have a good record of fair
(01:56:10):
and balanced investigations. They seem toget political very quick and all faith has
been lost in the FBI. Justyesterday they released a press release saying that
they using verbiage. It was verystrange. We don't see any or we
don't have any evidence or other shooters. No, we see no evidence of
(01:56:32):
ideological bend. We don't have evidencethat he had mental issues. Well,
it's only been a day and theinvestigation is just starting. Why do they
need to release that information. It'sno information. It's like telling me telling
you there's no known threat at thisevent. That doesn't tell you anything,
(01:56:53):
and telling you this could be apotential that this group could attack here.
That tells you what to look outfor. But the information that's coming out
of the Bureau is scrub I canalready see that it's scrubbed, and it's
made to look like they're doing atremendous amount of work, and I don't
like that image. It makes menervous that they're going to be able to
(01:57:13):
do this makes us nervous too.Wish we had more time with you,
