Speaker 6 (01:38):
Thank you, Jimmy, and good morning everyone. It is five
oh one on kt RH, our top story the eight Wars.

Speaker 7 (01:44):
My administration has ended in just eight months. There's never
been anything like that, never then, never will be either.

Speaker 6 (01:51):
Call it the art of the Deal. President Trump continuing
his Asian trip in Japan this morning. He broke it
to cease fire between Thailand and Cambodia. The tensions between
the two countries flared up again this year. They actually
go back all the way to nineteen oh seven. Trump
is also closing in on a trade deal with the Chinese.

(02:11):
US trade representative Jamison gray Or told Fox News, the
Chinese came to their senses.

Speaker 8 (02:16):
We've had very constructive conversations to find a path forward
where we can have more access to rareers from China.
We can try to balance out our trade deficit with
sales from the United States.

Speaker 6 (02:29):
Trump will meet with Chinese President Jijun Ping on Thursday.
The markets are happy this morning. Down futures are up
almost three hundred points. This is despite Trump announcing a
ten percent increase in tariffs on Canada for using that
Ronald reaganad to bash tariffs coming up on five h three.
A pair of Navy aircraft were involved in separate collisions

(02:50):
over the South China Sea on Sunday. All five crew
members were rescued and are in stable condition. In Washington,
the Schumer shutdown reaches day number twenty seven. Time is
running out to get a deal done to make sure
that our military gets paid in November.

Speaker 9 (03:08):
By November fifteenth, our troops and service members who are
willing to risk their lives aren't going to be able
to get paid. Why did it embarrass them?

Speaker 6 (03:17):
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on CBS, And even though she
lost in a landslide, a year ago. Kamala Harris is
dropping more hints about a potential presidential run in twenty
twenty eight.

Speaker 10 (03:30):
Have you made a decision yet, No, I have not.
But you say in your book, I'm not done.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
That is correct.

Speaker 11 (03:36):
I am not done.

Speaker 6 (03:37):
Kamala talking to the BBC. We've got that video on
our Facebook and X page. California Governor Gavin Newsom also
admitted to thinking about a twenty twenty eight run. You'll
hear from him at six o'clock. Meantime, Democrats keep trying
to offer alternatives to Trump, but maybe that's where their
biggest problem is.

Speaker 4 (03:58):
All they care about is being anti Trump with no
real platform, and they've disconnected from reality.

Speaker 11 (04:03):
When you have a political party that is hyper focused
on one particular man, it's unable to really navigate the
political storms.

Speaker 4 (04:13):
Political strategist vlad Davidia says the party is now governed
by ideology rather than solutions, and don't expect them to
have an epiphany.

Speaker 11 (04:21):
They would rather earn the house down than fix the
problems that we face.

Speaker 4 (04:26):
He says, people will start rewarding strong leadership over buying
the left's nonsense. Andre Parard News Radio seven forty k
t rh.

Speaker 6 (04:34):
The walk Bob is now coming for Gail King of
CBS well because she had the audacity to sit next
to Fox's Jesse Waters on a plane and take a selfie.
The left literally melted down on social media, accusing King
of quote having no principles. Podcaster Michelle Tafoya says the
photos actually should have been celebrated. I applaud her for

(04:56):
posting it.

Speaker 12 (04:56):
It shows that she is human and that he is human,
and that they can smile together and take a selfie.
And nobody got hurt except the people who decided that
they wanted their feelings hurt.

Speaker 6 (05:06):
Waters left the whole thing off, saying, quote Pierre's I
got her in trouble here at home. The walk Bob
came for an Austin farm that was to host an
event for the conservative Texas Public Policy Foundation and got
it canceled.

Speaker 13 (05:21):
This came with more of the extreme rhetoric we've seen
from the left over the last few months.

Speaker 14 (05:26):
Somehow TPPF is the face of fascism in Austin. That's
to me the most disturbing part of this, the violent language.

Speaker 13 (05:34):
That's chruck de war with the Texas Public Policy Foundation.
He said this was supposed to be a simple event
about environmental safety.

Speaker 14 (05:40):
You would think that would have strong bipartisan support, would
be worthy of discussion at such a venue, but no,
instead that was shut down.

Speaker 13 (05:48):
He added that actions like this from left wingers are
only going to hurt them more politically. Ethan Buchanan News
Radio seven forty KTRH five six. More violent crime in
the Houston area over the weekend. One person killed, three
others hurt in a nightclub shooting.

Speaker 6 (06:02):
All we heard was like.

Speaker 15 (06:04):
Trug burning wheel and shooting like probably like seven eight
shots nine somewhere on there.

Speaker 6 (06:09):
But it was bad that business owner talking to our
TV partner channel too. Texas high school football legend and
former NFL star Adrian Peterson's in legal hot water arrested
in Fort Bend County on Sunday on DWI and gun charges.
The Houston Texans bounce back from their Monday night loss
in Seattle. CJ Stround throws for three hundred and eighteen

(06:30):
yards to scores. Texans beat the forty nine Ers twenty
six to fifteen.

Speaker 15 (06:35):
Who I love playing book this game. I respect his game,
my preparation. I take a serious every week, and sometimes
you just go lay and egg. So well, I'm gonna
leave the pass in the pass. But I know what
I can do. I know I'm the top guy in
his league and when I'm rolling.

Speaker 6 (06:47):
Texans are now three and four LSU fires head coach
Brian Kelly, and for the first time in three years,
UH is in the EIGHTP Top twenty five at number
twenty two. I'm Cliff Saunders on Houston's news, weather and
traffic station News Radio seven k TRH.

Speaker 3 (07:03):
Just like your car, the new iHeartRadio app now has precess.

Speaker 2 (07:07):
Everything I listened to in one place.

Speaker 16 (07:09):
It's the easiest way to listen to ktr download or
update our free iHeartRadio app today.

Speaker 2 (07:17):
Okay, good, good, Hello. Five o seven is our time? Music? No,
we got no music? All right?

Speaker 4 (07:23):
Five oh seven is our time here in Houston's morning news.
All right, retailers, let's open with us today. Retailers are
struggling with a coin shortage. In fact, they asked Kroger,
the national grocery chain, if they were going to continue
to accept cash. And they are going to continue to
accept cash. Do you ever see anybody pay cash for
groceries anymore? It's pretty rare. Usually I find it's certain

(07:52):
individuals still pay cash. Every now and again, I see
a grandma writing a check and I have to kind
of laugh a little bit when I see that. But
for the most part, we use our cards. We don't
use a lot of cash. I might get cash back
from the machine, but I rarely am putting cash into

(08:13):
the machine. Retailer is struggling with a coin shortage, and
because they are evidently some of them. In fact, the
National Groceries Association sent a letter to Secretary of Agriculture
Brooke Rollins last week. The shortage, they wrote, is beginning
to cause a cascade of negative events and stores around
the country food stamp. By the way, the SNAP program,

(08:37):
they have to comply with the Low Income Family Program
equal treatment provisions, which means that if they're using a
SNAPS snap card and they have something they're paying cash for,
if the grocery store would have to accept cash, they
have to allow them to use cash. But the retailers
is just saying, you know, we got a penny shortage.

(08:57):
People have ported pennies are producing pennies anymore. We generally speaking,
we don't have a lot of change. Here's the question.
I mean, at some point, are we actually going to
consider dropping cash is legal tender where you're not gonna
be able to use cash anymore. There are some states,
for example, Ohio's a state that comes to mind where

(09:20):
they don't have to accept cash. They can put up
a sign that says no cash and they don't have
to accept it. Even though it's still US legal tender.
They don't have to accept cash. Now, I started thinking, well, okay,
how many things do I actually use cash for? It's
pretty rare. I will leave a tip in cash, but

(09:45):
other than that, there's not a whole lot of things
I use cash for. So here's my question to you
this morning. Do you still use cash and under what
circumstances do you use it? Or do you use your
credit or deb card for virtually everything? You go to
the iHeartRadio, I'm KTRH. You have the talkback button first

(10:07):
ame where you're calling from. And if you still use cash,
and if so, how do you use it?

Speaker 2 (10:12):
Five to ten? Right now, I know skylike still accept cash.

Speaker 4 (10:15):
Freedom, that's freedom, that's right in God we trust and
all others take on.

Speaker 5 (10:19):
You know, the government can't track you down if you
use cash.

Speaker 4 (10:23):
For start, Are you trying to hide something? Sketch, yes,
of course.

Speaker 5 (10:26):
And also you know I always like the Tip waffle
house and Denny's and iharp servers in cash get too
there where you want to go, Let's go to the
east text Jimmy southbound east text at Townsend, Boy, this
isn't a good spot for a wreck. One, two, three,
right lanes. All of a sudden, you're driving from the sticks.
We're about to get some suckage now coming down right

(10:48):
before the Sanjacento River Bridge. We I don't know if
we'll get plumb backed up from porter just yet, but
Clayton from Splendor will give me a close up of
that pretty shortly. I'm gonna check. And no, I'm not
seeing them big smish just yet. What we might start
coming in If the Hardy's an option for you, do
the Hardy vine yop Nordon Sam. If you're trying to
catch a plane at Bush Airport, we look good from

(11:09):
a Tascasita all the way back over to two forty nine.
If you're somebody's butler and Tomball, you're having an easy
ride up here, and Southwest Freeway looks good. Fountains up
eighteen simple minutes. By the way, we had a Grand March.
At the wedding, I did Terry so two ninety all
the way from Chapel Hill in good shape.

Speaker 2 (11:26):
This morning, I'm in the USA Rbresorts dot.

Speaker 4 (11:29):
Com traffic center from r KTRH top tax defenders twenty
four hours withson Terry is here. We got a Cat
five hurricane out there, don't we Oh goodness, it's a monster,
it really is.

Speaker 17 (11:41):
This I think is the strongest hurricane that Jamaica has
ever experienced. There was one year or two ago that
was a Cat four Cat five, but it moved so
fast that the damage was, you know, mitigated by the
fact that it was in and out of there about

(12:01):
twelve hours or so. This one's still sitting south of
Jamaica and is moving west very slowly. Eventually it's expected
to make kind of a northwest northerly turn, but it's
going to directly impact Jamaica today and tomorrow, and by
early Wednesday should be up around the eastern end of Cuba.

(12:25):
So Jamaica's got a good forty eight hours of one
hundred and sixty mile an hour winds that they'll be
dealing with, or winds up to one hundred and sixty
mile an hours and it doesn't look like it's really
going to change. The wind speed will maybe fluctuate five
or ten miles an hour on either side of that.
So this is obviously going to be catastrophic for them,

(12:48):
between the winds and feet of rain, two to three
feet of rain likely. Yeah, this is going to be
quite a catastrophe. Things are much quieter round here, how
about this. And it's going to get much colder, if
you can believe it not today, Today's a nice mild day,
just dry, load to mid eighties. Tomorrow we have a

(13:08):
sixty percent chance of thundershowers in the afternoon. Still, it's
actually going to be warm in the mid to upper
eighties tomorrow. But then that col front clears out here,
so that Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday temperatures are going to
be running about ten to almost twenty degrees below the norm.

Speaker 2 (13:25):
Wow.

Speaker 17 (13:26):
Sixties, Yes, mid to upper sixties on Wednesday.

Speaker 4 (13:29):
That's great high, that's crazy. Wow, pull out the sweaters,
No kidding. Temperature right now, by the way is let
me double check it. It is sixty two at your
official severe weather station, News Radio seven forty KTRH.

Speaker 3 (13:44):
I live in Spring, I live in Katie, You're reliable
forecast next on the ten on seven forty KTRH.

Speaker 4 (13:52):
So we're going to be making an announcement this morning.
I promised on Friday we would, actually, I think I
promised on Thursday and Friday that we would. We took
a listener trip last year Degrease, and we took I
want to say, twenty four to twenty six listeners along
with us. We had a great time. We just we
all had dinner together, a taste of Texas over the

(14:12):
weekend on Saturday, and we just we like hanging out
with each other. They're fun people. I like to think
I can have fun, and so we really enjoyed it.
I think a lot of them are going to come
on this next adventure. We'd love to invite you to
come along, make some new friends, maybe see a place
you've never been before, or go back to a place
that you thought was really incredible. I'll be making an

(14:35):
announcement about an hour from now where that location is
and how you can find out more about coming along
with us.

Speaker 2 (14:40):
It's going to be next August.

Speaker 4 (14:41):
First though, let's do a little traffic and weather together
as we check them as Skymike, all right.

Speaker 2 (14:45):
Let's put the visors down.

Speaker 5 (14:47):
We'll take a look now at the West park to
away and so far you're going shoot from Grand Parkway
into the Southwest Freeway. No problems here if you're coming
in on All ninety the most city Expressway piece and cake,
you can just jump on south West Freeway like normal
people and do the Brasses River. We're looking at twenty
one minutes here. Let's hit your tip line seven one
three two one two tips. Remember you can also click

(15:11):
the talkback Mike on the free iHeartRadio wapp. Brad from Bellville.
He had a grand march at his wedding.

Speaker 2 (15:16):
He might not here on the web side, we.

Speaker 16 (15:20):
Have ball.

Speaker 2 (15:23):
Nobody does that like Brad from Bellville. Thank you. Well,
we're gonna get you in with Terry at five forty.

Speaker 5 (15:28):
I'm Skymike on the USA Harvey Resorts dot Com traffic.

Speaker 4 (15:31):
So I'm still freaking out about that ballroom. More in
that story coming up in just second. First though, from
our KTRH Top Tax Defenders twenty four hour weather center.
Becoming mostly sunny eighty six today, partly cloudy for the morning,
thunderstorms in the afternoon eighty eight tomorrow. Look at this
big change though Wednesday, sunny, windy chilli sixty seven for
the high temperature right now six hang on, thank you're

(15:52):
ready for that right now sixty two At your official
severe weather station, News Radio seven forty k TRH. We're
checking out some more of our top stories early on
a Monday morning. As we check in again with clip
thank you, Jimmy more.

Speaker 6 (16:05):
Democrat hypocrisy exposed. Now they're accusing Trump of wait for it,
rigging elections. Hurricane Melissa is a Cat five threatening Jamaica.
Burn bands are lifted in Montgomery and Walker Counties. Get
the latest news anytime at KTRH dot com. Our next
update is at five thirty.

Speaker 18 (16:24):
The once on are under construction two eighty eight sixty ten.

Speaker 19 (16:27):
Accidents and alternate next on the ten on KRH.

Speaker 4 (16:32):
Oh yeah, plet this snill can't can't handle this. All
the east wing is gone. We're building a ballroom thing,
and we've learned a lot more. For example, did you
know that in twenty sixteen President Trump offered, of course
he wasn't president then, but Donald Trump offered to build
a ballroom for the Obama administration. They turned him down,

(16:54):
and he was going to do it. I think he was.
I don't know if he was. Was he going to
do it for free? I think it was the same
kind of thing he planned to do it with donations.
So anyway, this will talk talking about the destruction of history.
And they're making comparisons between the Trump ballroom and a

(17:15):
Russian some sort of a Russian palace. You know, you
get the tie in, right, they're trying to make Yes, Yeah,
we have a dictator. That's what dictators do. They build
big ballrooms. Anyway, here's more of the left doing their
thing with the response from Jesse Waters.

Speaker 17 (17:29):
Here's a side by side of Trump's rendition of a
ballroom with the Winter Palace ballroom in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

Speaker 2 (17:36):
Yeah, Russia, Russia, Russia.

Speaker 20 (17:37):
We are living in that crazy, wacky alternate universe that
Obama conjured up that night.

Speaker 2 (17:43):
Betty four, that's her at her desk.

Speaker 21 (17:46):
She was famously said, if the West wing is the
mind of the nation and the East wing.

Speaker 4 (17:50):
Is the heart, well it has been ripped out.

Speaker 22 (17:53):
Good symbolic of the changes that Donald Trump's second term
is bringing.

Speaker 1 (17:57):
What are they able to look like?

Speaker 18 (17:58):
Maybe a natural disaster or more commonly these goods war
We're terrorism.

Speaker 23 (18:03):
Jesse's the media, the legacy media, the liberals, they're losing their.

Speaker 6 (18:08):
Minds over this ballroom gate.

Speaker 24 (18:12):
So do you know that when you have a state dinner,
you have to use a tent and there's nowhere to
go to the bathroom, so you have to have a
porta potty. We are making dignitaries from foreign countries go
to the bathroom in porta potties. This is a gift
to the country, a gift to any other Democrat. President
Barack Obama spent four hundred million to do a basketball

(18:36):
court and rewire a few pipes.

Speaker 2 (18:38):
This thing is a legacy.

Speaker 24 (18:39):
Of course he's naming it after himself. Trump steaks, Trump water,
Trump wine. I'm not surprised. Greg understands. Also a well
timed F bomb. Nothing better than that.

Speaker 25 (18:53):
The problem is.

Speaker 24 (18:54):
Democrats think Trump got to the White House through f bombs.

Speaker 1 (18:57):
He didn't.

Speaker 24 (18:58):
They look at him so one dimensional. The guy can
drop a few f bombs, but he could also be
the most tender man when he's comforting families in pain,
or orchestrating grand strategy with power players throughout the world,
or a policy walk.

Speaker 6 (19:15):
He's kind of a policy walk.

Speaker 24 (19:17):
So this guy's a multidimensional because he's a person and
he honed these skills over decades.

Speaker 2 (19:23):
In the media.

Speaker 24 (19:25):
It's not something you can copy in a playbook. Politics
is about people. The Democrats are so obsessed with identity
politics they don't know their own identity.

Speaker 4 (19:35):
Jesse Waters with some thoughts on the freak out. They
continues over the trump Ballroom. Five twenty six. It is
time to take a look at your money. Here's forty
donaho Good morning.

Speaker 16 (19:46):
The strike continues at Boeing factory. Workers in Saint Louis
rejected a new five year contract that would have boosted
paid by twenty four percent. The nearly three month walkout
has disrupted Boeing's main military manufacturing hub. Turning to the markets,
a feder Reserve is expected to deliver a second straight
interest rate cut this week to support a wobbly job market,

(20:07):
headed that stock futures are seeing gains. This past Friday,
data showed inflation rose in September at its lowest pace
in three months. Stocks finished the session higher, with the
Dow rising four hundred and seventy three points. I'm Courtney
Donahoe Bloomberg Business on News Radio seven forty KTRH.

Speaker 26 (20:27):
A Houston's News whether we're traffic plus breaking News twenty
four to seven.

Speaker 1 (20:32):
This is News Radio seven forty KTRH.

Speaker 2 (20:36):
Five Everywhere with the IRPP.

Speaker 3 (20:38):
More of what's happening now from the John Morris Services Studios.

Speaker 4 (20:42):
It is five thirty here on Houston's Borning News. I'm
Jimmy Barrett. Among our top stories this f are Democrats
accused Trump of rigging elections. More violence of Portland with
zero arrest and coming up at five thirty eight, Ghosts
goblins on this Hallowek week. That's that's what most of
you are really afraid of. Details in the minutes ahead. First,

(21:06):
got that morning drive, get that radio tuned in there.

Speaker 5 (21:08):
This guy Michel, all right, you know what I've never
seen before, Jimmy, I've never seen pumpkins and hurricanes at
the same time.

Speaker 2 (21:14):
I know we're going to talk about that in ten minutes.

Speaker 5 (21:16):
So far, we're back in the calm before the next
shoe drops in the woods. We just cleared that East
Text deal toe trick. Ninjas have struck its out of
the way. Look, the sucking's just gone too. Free ways
rocking along and you know stuff changes. Well, that's why
I'm right back at you in ten minutes in the
USA RV Resorts dot Com.

Speaker 4 (21:31):
Traffic Center from our KTRH Generators Supercenter, twenty four hour
weather center. Becoming mostly sunny today with a high temperature
right about eighty six, but are really cool down starting
on Wednesday, I mean really cool down. We'll talk to
Terry Smith about that in about eight minutes. Right now
sixty two at your officials, Severe Weather Station, News Radio
seven forty KTRH. It's time now for the news. Here's

(21:54):
Clip Saunders.

Speaker 6 (21:55):
Thank you, Jimmy. Good morning everyone. It is five thirty
one on KTRH. Our top story Democrats to rip President
Trump because he said elections were rigged. Now, well just.

Speaker 27 (22:05):
Take a listen Donald Trump's unprecedented effort to jerryman their
congressional maps in order to rig the midterm elections to.

Speaker 28 (22:15):
Democrats are also going through jerrymandering and redistricting.

Speaker 6 (22:20):
That was House Minority Leader her Keem Jeffrey's getting called
out by Margaret Brennan on CBS. Meantime, the Setate returns
to try and reopen the government today, but there are
other obstacles to getting back up and running as the shutdown.
He's day twenty seven, The House remains out and there
are no talks to solve the crisis. And even if

(22:41):
Congress approved the original entim spending bill, it would only
keep the lights on until November twenty first, and is
Fox's chat program on Capitol Hill. Democrats want free healthcare
for people who are here in this country illegally, But
don't you dare call them what they are? Illegal aliens?

Speaker 29 (23:00):
Aliens?

Speaker 30 (23:01):
Yeah, I don't know if that's from some sort of
sci fi message that you wish have had. Well, listen,
the legal term for my people were slaves. You want
me to use that term too.

Speaker 6 (23:10):
Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson ripping a reporter for using facts.
We also saw more anti ice protests and violence over
the weekend. Off Take that helmet off, Take that helmet off? Hey, yeah,
that was in Portland, where clashes between protesters and conservative
activists left several people injured. The cops didn't arrest anyone.

(23:33):
Believe it or not, it's five point thirty three. The left,
of course, losing their minds over President Trump privately building
a ballroom at the White House. This is nothing new, though.
Look Trump was pushing this back when Barack Obama was president.

Speaker 31 (23:48):
I told David Axel, right, David, I will build a
ballroom free of charge, at least one hundred million dollars.
Will make it the finest ballroom in the world.

Speaker 2 (23:56):
We'll put it.

Speaker 31 (23:57):
Someplace so it works contextually, magnificent, Simply, it'll be done.

Speaker 1 (24:01):
We'll have committee set up.

Speaker 31 (24:03):
I never heard that that.

Speaker 6 (24:05):
Was Trump during the twenty sixteen campaign. By the way,
the President is in Tokyo, arriving this morning his latest
stop on the Asia trip. The big meeting though on Thursday,
with China's Xijin Ping the US and China reaching agreement
on the framework for a trade deal, and TikTok as
well more at six o'clock close to the home. The
Texas economy continues to roll along, but some say it's

(24:27):
hit a plateau. Though in one area, revenues have been
booming for two decades, but suddenly the picture's not looking
so rosy. The latest report shows a one percent growth
over last year, which is slightly less than inflation.

Speaker 32 (24:41):
Sales tax has been pretty flat for the last couple
of years. The oil and gas production tax has kind
of peeked out.

Speaker 6 (24:47):
Bill King at Rice's Baker Institute says the state is
still growing, just not as fast. The bottom line, he says,
is that the state will have less cash to throw
at property tax reform next legislative session. That's ktr REXI soodes.
Gasoline prices continue to tick down, averaging two fifty six
a gallon across Houston this morning, about fifteen cents cheaper

(25:08):
than they were one year ago. But there is more
pain when you take the kids out for a quick
bite to eat. Fast food chains have hiked up prices
by a whopping forty percent since COVID economist Tank Lewis
says the restaurants are making up for lost revenue, and
you can blame Biden inflation and higher labor costs.

Speaker 2 (25:26):
They need more people.

Speaker 33 (25:27):
There's less automation in those restaurants than you see in
other types of businesses.

Speaker 6 (25:31):
He says. Franchiners have to find a way to stay
competitive by offering more meal deals while controlling operational costs.
Five point thirty five. The CEO of the Alamo Trust,
which manages the Alamo, is removed from her position because
she went woke writing that slavery should be given more
focus when telling the Alamo's story.

Speaker 29 (25:52):
There are those who want us to believe that the
Almo fight was all about slavery. Nothing could be further
from the truth. It was they're in the new Santana
that was the abrogation of the Constitution of eighteen twenty four.

Speaker 6 (26:04):
Former Land Office Commissioner Jerry Patterson told us the focus
must be on the Battle of the Alamo and the
fight for Texas liberty. Speaking of education in school, another
underperforming school district in the Lone Star state is taken
over by Austin.

Speaker 34 (26:20):
The TA has announced it's taking over the school district
in Fort Wors. That doesn't sit well with the state's
largest teachers union, which feels that boards should be elected,
not appointed.

Speaker 32 (26:30):
And that basically takes away the voting right so parents
in that school district.

Speaker 34 (26:35):
Clay Robinson is with the Texas State Teachers Association. The
takeover in Fort Worth is likely just the beginning. There
are four other Texas school districts at risk because of
their repeated failing test scores.

Speaker 4 (27:20):
RHS Moor cow Bell five thirty seven. Our time here
in Houston's morning news. Right, I'm not afraid of the Reaper,
but we all have something we're afraid of. Right, I'm
a little afraid of heights. I don't I don't mind flying.
I'm not afraid to fly. I I don't know why

(27:42):
that is, because that's pretty high. But I'm surrounded by
that fuselage. Not that that's going to protect me if
the thing goes, you know, starts heading straight down. But
you put me on top of a tall ladder outdoors
in a breeze, Yeah, you got my attention. I don't
care for that very much. But as it turns out,

(28:02):
especially this week being Halloween, we're not afraid of ghosts.
We're not afraid of goblins. We're not afraid of horror films.
We're afraid of Well. Here's the top ten list, conducted
by Chapman University annual poll of the real life fears
everyday Americans have topping the list. Number one, far and away.
Number one, by the way, corrupt government officials. We are

(28:24):
the most afraid. Sixty nine percent of US say they're
afraid or very afraid of corrupt government officials. Number two,
people you love becoming seriously ill was also number two
last year. Number three economic financial collapse. Fifty eight percent
of US are worried about that. That's up from fifteen.
Number fifteen on the list last year. Number four, cyber terrorism,

(28:45):
number five, people you love dying, Number six, the US
becoming involved in another world war, number seven, pollution of
drinking water, number eight, Russia using nuclear weapons, number nine,
pollution of oceans, rivers and lake and number ten government
tracking of personal data. That's the top ten. So the

(29:05):
government made two positions in the top ten. Yeah, I
think we're probably more afraid of a lot of aspects
of government than we are just about anything else. Hey,
by the way, don't forget our question today. You can
respond to it the iHeart Radio have KTRH. We mentioned
about a half an hour ago a lot of stores
is struggling with a coin shortage and would like to

(29:26):
go cash lists. In other words, we don't. We don't
accept cash, but some states it's perfectly legal to do it.
Other states stores retailers have to accept cash. But how
often do you use cash?

Speaker 11 (29:40):
Do you?

Speaker 2 (29:40):
What do you use cash?

Speaker 4 (29:41):
Forward? What do you still do carry cash? And what
do you use cash for? I use it for tips,
just about That's about just about the only thing I
use it for. But you can respond good the iHeart
Radio to have KTRH. Hit the talk back button up
the thirty seconds. First thing where you're calling from things
you still use cash for for traffic and weather together

(30:02):
as we checking again with sky makee all right, let's.

Speaker 5 (30:04):
Hit Alex from Tarkington. He's coming down from the sticks
of course.

Speaker 35 (30:07):
Dude, Hey, come on, Matt, you're talking about Nick Knights

Speaker 36 (30:11):

Speaker 2 (30:13):

Speaker 5 (30:15):
The spackle to Scott from New Cany's a little further.

Speaker 2 (30:17):
In on the East Tax.

Speaker 37 (30:19):

to call it. There is a hub of blue something.
Everything flows down to a ninth ten mile an hour.

Speaker 5 (30:32):
Seme, Oh yeah, I see that smoe trying to get
down into the canyon. Sure looks like we've got something
just past forty five? And is that a record you install?
What are you? I don't think we have a response yet.
Looks like about an eight minute crawl already. We'll get
you some laneage at the fight fifty break, Terry. I
have never in my history seen pumpkins and hurricanes the
same time of year.

seem kind of late for a Cat five, isn't it
it does?

Speaker 35 (31:05):
You know?

Speaker 17 (31:05):
That's an interesting question. How late was the Have we
had a Cat five? I mean, we do get hurricanes
in October and even into November as well, but I
can't remember seeing something this strong here recently, so I'll have.

Speaker 6 (31:20):
To check into this. This is one very strong CAT five.

Speaker 17 (31:23):
I mean Cat five obviously is a big deal, but
this is one hundred and sixty mile an hour wins
and it's gonna it could strengthen a little bit more,
could weaken a little bit more. Main thing is it's
going to be a massive, catastrophic hurricane for at least
another forty eight hours.

Speaker 6 (31:40):
Right now, it's just south of Jamaica.

Speaker 17 (31:42):
It's kind of drifting west, so basically the entire island
of Jamaica is experiencing the stronger side of the hurricane,
the east side of the hurricane, and it really won't
began to make its way northward until sometime late tonight
or early tomorrow, so Jamaica is going to be feeling
the direct impacts of those winds and that persistent heavy rain.

(32:06):
They're looking at two to three feet of rain across
most of Jamaica over the course of today and tomorrow,
and then it makes its way into Cuba before heading
out into the Atlantic. It may even still be a
hurricane when it passes by Bermuda. Right now it looks
like it could pass close by, So yeah, big problem
in the Caribbean. Things are quiet here. Today is a

(32:29):
comfortable fall day, overall load to mid eighties.

Speaker 6 (32:33):
This afternoon.

Speaker 17 (32:34):
We got a cold front head on our way tomorrow

Now it's going to be warm tomorrow in the mid

We're going downtown East Texas Freeway elevated southbound, and Alex
from Tarkington and Scott from New Canny noticed that smunch
we have huh oh the cash never mind me? Yeah, no,
I was. I'll trade some cash with you here. So
my friends are noticing this much we had going down
into the canyon. Whatever was there, what's clear, We could

(34:00):

extra four or five minutes south found of suckage, but
it looks to have been cleared so far.

Speaker 2 (35:21):
Well, we can blame them for this.

Speaker 4 (35:24):
The trade negotiations have just kind of completely come to
an end here in Ontario. They they're the provincial government
in Ontario was running an ad using Ronald Reagan in
an anti tariff thing, although they took it out of context.
They benef this ad claiming that Ronald Reagan was against tariffs,
and they ran it, you know, to try to convince

(35:45):
Persident Trump, I guess, or to whip up public opinion
against President Trump and his stance on tariffs. And Trump
is not happy. So he's going to give another ten
percent in tariffs on Canada and retaliation. So here's a
little bit of that, with some response from former White
House spokesperson Ari Fleischer.

Speaker 1 (36:04):
That AD was wrong.

Speaker 20 (36:05):
I mean, it totally took what Ronald Reagan said out
of context, distorted his remarks. President Reagan was always clear
about the importance of fair trade and that trade has
to be reciprocal. I remember when I was in office,
we had huge trade disputes with Canada over softwath lumber
and over fishing rights off the coast of Maine. So
disputes with Canada are a long standing thing. Canada has

(36:27):
not engaged in fair practices with the United States. So
President Trump, as typical, is flexing. He's throwing the strength
down and saying, get that ad off the air, and
we're not talking to you, and you.

Speaker 25 (36:38):
Need to fix this.

Speaker 23 (36:39):
Well, here's Canada's Prime Minister Mark Karney on all of
this in a gaggle earlier today.

Speaker 36 (36:45):
My colleagues have been working with their American colleagues on detailed,
constructive negotiations, discussions on specific transactions, specific sectors aluminum and energy,
and a lot of progress has been made and we
stand ready to pick up on that progress and build

(37:09):
on that progress when the Americans are ready to have
those discussions.

Speaker 23 (37:14):
We stand ready when the Americans are ready, Tell me
what you take away from that.

Speaker 2 (37:19):
While we have the White.

Speaker 23 (37:21):
House Via Kevin Hassett responding to all of this and
a reporter's question earlier today, listen here, is this just
a knee jerk reaction.

Speaker 38 (37:31):
I think the frustration has built up over time. I've
been involved in some of these negotiations, and the Canadians
have been very difficult to negotiate with. The fact that
we're down negotiating with Mexico separately reveals that it's not
just about on one to add that, there's frustration that's
built up.

Speaker 23 (37:49):
Okay, this story is getting good. Ari where does it
go next?

Speaker 20 (37:55):
Well, it's classic negotiation. Yeah, one party takes his hands
off the steering wheel. That's crazy, and the other party says, whoops,
we better do what they want otherwise we're going to
have a crash here. So you know, I think this
this President Trump has largely been successful in these negotiations
because of his heart to predict tactics, and I think
that is what's going to happen in the end all

(38:15):
these tariffs all around the world. Is just odd that
the negotiations with Canada have been among the most tricky.
You would think Canada wouldn't play this game, and we
could reach an agreement with the United States. They could
reach an agree with the United States. But Canada's playing hardball.
President Trump plays hardball. No one knows how it's going
to turn out.

Speaker 4 (38:34):
Mm I think it probably turns out to our advantage

The Dems keep pushing to find an alternative to Donald Trump,

Now you notice he's you've got more cash out than

here in Houston's Born News. Our question today today, you
go to the iHeartRadio app KTRH. Please make us number
one a new preset if you haven't already done so,
so you can get there quickly. You just hit the
button first name where you call from. Do you still

(46:02):
use cash? In What prop to the question was, we
have more and more retailers who are moving away from cash,
discouraging the use of cash. They have a hard time
keeping enough change, in particular in stock. In order to
be able to make change, people have hoarded their pennies.
We're not making any more pennies, so you've got that

(46:22):
going on. And we are on our way. You know,
some of us feared this day would come, and I
think this day's coming where we're on our way to
a cashless society. Now, I still happen to use cash.
I still like to have cash on my person. If
the power goes out, it could come in handy, you know,
because you're not going to be able to they can't
run your credit card or your debit card. How are

(46:44):
you supposed to pay for something you really need to
get your hands on. So to me, it's always good
to have a little bit of cash. But I'm curious
as to whether or not you have cash? Are you
carrying cash and how do you use it? I use
it for tips all the time. I give a cash
tip versus putting it on the car. How do you
still use cash if you do, yes.

Speaker 35 (47:03):
David and other Bridge. I always keep cash because everybody
takes it. But I have been using my card more
often and probably draw a line about twenty bucks. If
it's more than twenty bucks, I'll use my card. If
it's less than twenty bucks, I'll pay cash.

Speaker 40 (47:18):
Good morning everyone, This is Henry from Spring. I use
cash whenever I can, so I can bring home the
smaller bills and the change and dump it into my
change jar, which we use to save for weekend fun
trips and stuff.

Speaker 2 (47:37):
Y'all have a great day.

Speaker 41 (47:38):
Hey you go on Lake Condra. The thing I use
to pay with cash is I buy my gascuse. I
get it ten cents a gallon cheaper. The thing I'm
most scared about is my wife won't let me go fishing.

Speaker 42 (47:49):
I use cash only at gas stations and groceries.

Speaker 2 (47:54):
Oh, I'm calling from Huntsville, Alabama.

Speaker 4 (47:57):
Huntsville, how about that way? If I were to ask
you to look in your wallet right now? How much
cash do you have on you?

Speaker 2 (48:04):
Wow?

Speaker 4 (48:05):
I got one hundred and fifty bucks in here sky Mike.
Let's look right now, did you how much? How much
cash you got on here?

Speaker 2 (48:11):
So last night the father of the bride whipped out christ.

Speaker 43 (48:13):
See.

Speaker 5 (48:14):
I love the feel of cash, and it's such a compliment.
Father of the bride, at me a crisp one dollar bill?

Speaker 2 (48:20):
Who nice?

Speaker 5 (48:21):
One hundred and twenty forty sixty eighty about two hundred
and fifty dollars?

Speaker 2 (48:25):
Wow, look at that you got cash? We got more
cash than anybody.

Speaker 32 (48:27):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (48:28):
Did your dad ever do this to you? But this
is my dad. When when it was time to pay
my allowance, he'd pull out his wallet right and he
looking there.

Speaker 2 (48:35):
I like that feeling.

Speaker 4 (48:37):
He'd blowing there a few times this fuel dust bunnies
would come out, and then he'd then he'd take his
fingers and he'd pulled that five dollars bill out of there,
like it was the last five dollars he had, you know,
like I was going to make him poor by taking
that five bucks.

Speaker 11 (48:49):
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (48:50):
I just like the feel of it. You know what,
Let's make it raining here. Oh wait, Terry, cover your ears.

Speaker 2 (48:54):
You don't hear. Yeah, no, we can't make it. Rain

Speaker 5 (49:15):
Oh well said, very well said extra points for verbas
All right, let me let the rest of the media know.
Let me see what Tammy from Channel thirteen is telling me.
She's flying over something. I'll get to that elsewhere. We
got Nord Freeway. I'm a little concerned with this wreck.
Oh she's going to it. Nord Freeway. I forty five

Look at the people in front of you, one, two, three,

(49:36):
left lanes.

Speaker 2 (49:37):
This is a wreck.

Speaker 5 (49:37):
Hopefully everybody's okay. And that is inbound a big backup
from the Beltway. Oh and I Jim, you're Katie Freeway.
I'll get to that shortly. East text we had something
clear downtown at forty five. Nobody ever saw what it
was exactly, but we're looking at an extra six minutes
trying to get past the ballpark. Do the piers elevated instead,
we're getting loopy at the squeeze on Nord Freeway I

Katie Freeway at Guestner.

Speaker 2 (50:04):
We got a stalled metro bus.

Speaker 5 (50:07):
It's in They managed lanes right inbound, not really affecting
the main lanes. I'm Skymichael in the USA Rbresorts dot.

Speaker 4 (50:14):
Com traffic center from our katrh Top tax Defenders twenty
four hour weather center. Terry is with us. We've got
some cold. I'm not going to say chili. I'm gonna
call it cold because, oh yeah, with the first time
we get highs in the sixties, it's gonna feel cold
and it's gonna be windy too, exactly.

Speaker 17 (50:30):
So our low temperatures this time of year usually are
in the low to mid sixties, So it's going to
feel like morning lows in the afternoon on Wednesday, and
the temperatures do warm up a little bit after that,
but you are going to feel the chill, folks.

Speaker 6 (50:47):
It is on the.

Speaker 17 (50:48):
Way now today. It's a very comfortable day. It's pleasant
out there right now. The sunshineill warm us up into
the low to mid eighties, so a little bit warmer
than average, but at least the humidities. And check tomorrow.
That's when the cold front heads our way. There's a
sixty percent chance of showers and storms in the afternoon.

Speaker 6 (51:08):
It is going to be even.

Speaker 17 (51:09):
Warmer ahead of the front, mid to upper eighties tomorrow.
Tomorrow night, the colder air starts to move in. Temperatures
tomorrow night in the fifties and high's Wednesday, mid upper sixties.
And as Jimmy mentioned, it's freezy, so it's going for
you chitty Wednesday.

Speaker 41 (51:26):
Cool.

Speaker 4 (51:27):
Yeah, it is right now, sixty two at your officials,

Speaker 19 (51:38):
Ten ktrh time saving traffic connext on the ten, it's
just about six twenty two.

Speaker 4 (51:46):
We have Chuck to Wore coming up, our good buddy
from the Texas Public Policy Foundation. A left wing internet
mob convinced an Austin farm to cancel an event with
young people from the Texas Public Policy Foundations Liberty Leadership
Council because evidently for it's like fascists. We're used against
the Texas public policy foundation of these kids, I know,

(52:06):
pretty horrible stuff. More on that coming up next. First, though,
traffic got and weather together? Whatch got? Skymake Cord Freeway.

Speaker 5 (52:12):
Hopefully everybody's okay, Mount Houston, Westmount. That backup has us
and that the wreck has us backed up from the
Beltway and Katie Freeway inbound at Guessner. That is a
stalled metro bus inbound.

Speaker 2 (52:25):
He's in the managed lines, not affecting the mainlines.

let's get you up to date on some of our
top stories.

Speaker 2 (52:55):
Here's Cliff, Thank.

Speaker 6 (52:56):
You, Jimmy, We're sponsored by Cars for Kids, more, anti

Speaker 1 (53:29):
Excuse is crap.

Speaker 32 (53:36):
In the sun.

Speaker 16 (53:49):
You can carry.

Speaker 4 (53:53):
The signs the sign six twenty four time here on
Houston's Born News. We're joined my truck to board Texas
Public Policy Foundation. So what happened with us Austin farm, Chuck,
You guys were all set to bring a group of
young people out there and they canceled on you.

Speaker 14 (54:11):
Well, that's essentially it. It was about ten days ago
and when the Reddit community found out about it, this
online social social networking entity names got hot really fast,
including according to the owners of the farm, death threats
against the owners of the farm and their employees. And

(54:33):
then I guess in the classic Maoist struggles session, way
the farm figured that the way they could somehow claw
their way back into the favor of the far left
was to throw us under the bus and reference us
as a quote monster and somehow that we were, you know,
had no idea of the terrible monster we were, and

(54:55):
that we were fascists, and so kind of you know,
slammed the door in our face on the way out,
and we were able to reschedule and we just ended
up doing the event at our place, at our theater.
But the reason why we wanted to go to the
farm was because number one, are forty and undergroup that
Liberty Leadership Council, which we have all over the state.
We've got someone in Houston wanted to learn about sustainable

(55:18):
farming and they wanted to hear from from.

Speaker 9 (55:23):
Now.

Speaker 14 (55:24):
What's interesting about Helen Kerwin is she's the mother of
the US Secretary of Agriculture, Brooke Rollins, by former boss
at the Foundation, and she had a bill to ban
p fast or to begin the process to ban p fast.
These are these forever chemicals that are finding their way
into our food chain because they get into the municipal

(55:47):
sewage and then that sewage is turned into a mulch
that is distributed not only at nurseries but sometimes in
large amounts for farms, and we've found some problems with
that where it's been poisoning Texas farmland. And so you
would think that's something like looking at pfasts would unite

(56:08):
both the left and conservatives here in Texas, but I
guess not.

Speaker 4 (56:12):
Evidently not okay, So they would they've decided that they're
going to buy into that narrative, and not only buy
into the narrative, that they're going to hop on board
and join in on the narrative themselves. So who is
this farm and and have they turned other groups away?
I mean, is there any legal recourse there? Do you
at this point you care about having any legal recourse?

Speaker 14 (56:35):
Yeah? I don't think there's any necessarily any civil recourse.
Through their own business, right, they're Boggy Creek Farms. There's
a small family owned organic, you know, sustainable farm in
the Austin area. And of course they have to you know,
operate within the environment that they're in, which is of
course an Austin left of center. But what I find

(56:55):
interesting is that they've hosted events, for example, for the
Travel County Democratic Party, who during the one hundred day
mark for the new Trump administration came right out and
called the Trump administration fascist. And the thing the reason
why that sort of incendiary language is so dangerous, Well,
first of all, it's historically illiterate, because there's no connection

(57:20):
between the policies of Mussolini or even Hitler and the
Trump administration. But number two, what do you do with fascists?

Speaker 11 (57:27):
Right?

Speaker 14 (57:28):
Will you punch them in the nose or you shoot them?
As in the case of the assassination of Charlie Kirk,
where one of the shells shell casings found said what hey,
fascists catch right. So that's the challenge that we're seeing here,
is that the use of this superheated rhetoric that implies violence,

(57:50):
or in this case, they threatened actual violence. So back
to your question, I suppose if the owners wanted to
file a police report, they could. It's not legal to
threaten people with death here in the state of Texas.
But I'm going to guess that they're not going to
do that because the people that threaten that are on
the left and this farm is on the way right.

Speaker 4 (58:10):
Did I would not describe them as left of center.
I would just say that they are far left. Got
to leave it at that, chuck, but thank you for
sharing that with us, that destructive or Texas Public Policy
Foundation six twenty eight. Time to take a look at
your money as we check in once again with you
Know Who.

Speaker 16 (58:25):
Good Morning. Exon has sued California, alleging that two new
laws will force the energy giant to publicly endorse opinions
about climate change.

Speaker 6 (58:34):
That it doesn't agree with.

Speaker 16 (58:35):
The laws require large companies to publicly disclose their greenhouse
gas emissions, and it says how climate change could affect
their financial performance. Exon is asking the court to declare
the laws unconstitutional. I'm Courtney Donahoe Bloomberg Business on News

Fine hand lane. You've gotta work voy balking.

Speaker 5 (01:00:01):
Why are they doing that? Crapped here and rush hour

your East Tex clear forty five northwestbound Houston. The reck's gone.
Now I've got a smush on the Golf freeway. Looking
from telephone, looks like something on the right there at Lockwood.

Speaker 2 (01:00:16):
That's a minor dill.

Speaker 5 (01:00:17):
It's just a minor crash, but it's causing us backle

Speaker 6 (01:00:39):
You, Jimmy six thirty three on KTRHR. Top story.

Speaker 1 (01:00:43):
Stop see the mass, buddy, let's see the face.

Speaker 6 (01:00:48):
More anti ice protests and violence over the weekend. That
was important, clashes between anti ice rioters and conservatives. Several
people were injured. Nobody, though was arrested. There's also this
Democrats like Chicago may Or Brandon Johnson lost it at
a reporter who dared to use the term illegal immigrants.

Speaker 30 (01:01:07):
So look, let's just get the language right. We're talking
about undocumented individuals that are human beings. The last thing
that I'm going to do is except the type of racist,
nasty language to describe human beings.

Speaker 6 (01:01:18):
Yeah, the radical even went so far as to compare
the term to slavery. Here in Texas, I sees his
hundreds of weapons hidden in fake trailer walls that are
crossing in Laredo. Two people were arrested there. It is
now six thirty four when Donald Trump rather called the
When Trump claimed, excuse me that the left rigged the

(01:01:39):
twenty twenty election, Democrats literally through temper tantrums. Now they're
saying the same thing about Trump and redistricting. Surprisingly, a
member of the mainstream media called the mounts you've.

Speaker 28 (01:01:50):
Been using the term rigged elections in reference to the
upcoming midterms. Democrats were appalled when President Trump used language
like that. How do you justify you using that?

Speaker 9 (01:02:00):
Now?

Speaker 28 (01:02:00):
Doesn't that undermine faith for voters? You need to show up.

Speaker 6 (01:02:05):
Margaret Brennan on CBS interviewing House Minority the Leader Hakim
Jeffries the shutdown. By the way, in day twenty seven,
the President in Tokyo in the latest stop on his
trip to Asia. The big meeting though on Thursday with
China's Jijun Ping. The US and China did reach agreement
on the framework for a trade deal, and there might
be something as well for TikTok Meantime, recent reports show

(01:02:28):
that Americans haven't slowed down when it comes to credit
card spending. That's good news for the economy.

Speaker 44 (01:02:33):
The US consumer is roughly seventy percent of the US economy,
So when we're trying to look at the health of
the economy, one of the gauges we look at is
consumer spending, more specifically credit card spending.

Speaker 6 (01:02:47):
AJRH money man Pat Shin, there's good news on home sales.
They are up compared to a year ago, sales increasing
by two percent.

Speaker 45 (01:02:56):
Housing expert Lance thrill Kill says, when the mortgage rates
are low, buy with a rate like three to four
percent aren't going anywhere.

Speaker 33 (01:03:03):
I mean, how could they ever justify paying hundreds, if
not thousands of dollars more for the same price oute
just because of the interest rate.

Speaker 45 (01:03:11):
He says, the current six to seven percent rate is
causing a rise in real estate trading transactions.

Speaker 33 (01:03:18):
Because you know, as demand increases, when the interest rate
goes down, the price is going to go up because
demand is higher.

Speaker 45 (01:03:24):
He says, since inventory is high and rates are low,
it's a buyer's market. I'm Erica Smith, News Radio seven
forty kh.

Speaker 6 (01:03:31):
Here is this though nearly a quarter of American workers
skipped all their vacation times over the last year. Workplace
expert Joshua Evans says many employees don't take the time
because they worry it could draw negative attention from the boss.

Speaker 46 (01:03:45):
I think they should be encouraging their employees to take
their PTO instead of pulling them not to, because you're
going to have discruntled employees who are working less hard
and disengaging from the work that they're actually doing. It's
hurting the company's the long term.

Speaker 6 (01:03:57):
Evans also says fear mongering from the mainstream media over
the Trump tariffs could be part of what's happening. Six
thirty six, the Alamo Trust CEO is fired after Lieutenant
Governor Dan Patrick exposed her for pushing the myth at
slavery was a leading cause of our split from Mexico.

Speaker 13 (01:04:14):
Despite being disproven since before it began spreading, the myth
still plagues the Alamo.

Speaker 2 (01:04:18):
I did a bit about slavery.

Speaker 29 (01:04:20):
You might think they would have mentioned slavery in the
reasons given in the Dexan Vectorian Independence Star Rebellion.

Speaker 2 (01:04:26):
Slavery's not in there.

Speaker 13 (01:04:27):
Former Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson says this is an attempt
to use the Alamo to push a political narrative.

Speaker 29 (01:04:32):
We're making craft up about history that's just not factually accurate.
The primary battlefield for this is eighteen thirty six and
the five for Texas independence.

Speaker 13 (01:04:40):
He says that the Battle of the Alamo should continue
to be at the center of the Alamo story, not slavery.

Speaker 4 (01:05:07):
Need to know this Radio seven KTRHH. I guess that
lets the cat outs back six thirty seven. Our time
here in Houston's boring to is right? Our twenty twenty
six listener cruise is going to be two Alaska, the
final Frontier. Well, no, not dang on, that's that's that

(01:05:27):
space is the final frontier, well, the final American frontier,
America's final frontier, except we're not going to rough it.
We're going to take a really really nice cruise on
Celebrities Edge and if you want to check out the
Celebrity Edge look that up. That's one of their I
think it was built like in twenty twenty three. It's

(01:05:48):
one of their newest ships. Has all kinds of restaurants
on board, all sorts of amenities. We're going to start off.
This is going to be next August. So you can
get all the details. I'll let you know how to
get all the details on the all the dates and
what's included, what's not included in just a second here.
But just to give an idea, we decided to pick something.
We went to Greece last year. We want to pick

(01:06:09):
something a little bit closer to home. And you know,
I kept asking people, so, where's a dream trip that
you would like to go to you haven't gone to yet?
And it kept coming up for a lot of people.
We always talked about going to Alaska. We always talked
about going to Alaska over and over and over again.
I thought, well, let's stop talking about it. Let's go

(01:06:30):
to Alaska. So we're going to go in August. When
I think the high temperature usual high temperature is about
sixty five degrees, How good will that feel when it's
about you know, ninety six degrees here with lots of
heat and humidity. We'll be by August. We'll be ready
for a break from all the heat and humidity. We
start off in Seattle one night there at a boutique
downtown hotel. Then the next tip we do a little

(01:06:51):
tour Seattle, including the Pike Place Market that's where they
throw the fish back and forth right, and then we're
going to go to Alaska. Towering glaciers, justic wildlife. No,
there's no polar bears. Sorry, no polar bears. There's lots
of bears, but no polar bears. There's lots of moose,
but no polar bears. Maybe a reindeer or two, maybe
a whale, certainly a lot of eagles. So I think

(01:07:14):
there'll be a lot of wildlife to see. By the way,
when you book this thing, you can get all the
amenities that you want. Here got world class dining, A
drink package is included, again the celebrity edge. Here's how
you find out more about the trip you go to.
And I'm going to urge you to do this. We
already have bookings. Let's put it that way. We already
have people who went with us last year, who got

(01:07:35):
the first heads up? Or going to Alaska this year?
They've already booked, So it's limited space. We only have
room for so many and when it's full, it's full,
and I can't expand it past that. You go to
travel with Jimmy dot Com. There's travel with Jimmy dot Com,
or called eight hundred three eight three thirty one thirty
one to get information like a for sure or to

(01:07:55):
reserve your spot again. The number is eight hundred three
eight three thirty one.

Speaker 2 (01:08:00):
I'm thirty one.

Speaker 4 (01:08:00):
Or go do travel with Jimmy dot Com all right,
time for a little traffic and weathers together the mark
this will take that travel.

Speaker 5 (01:08:09):
With Jimmy dot Com and you can tip them cash here, Terry.

Speaker 2 (01:08:12):
Did I show you this from last night? Yes?

Speaker 5 (01:08:15):
Yeah, Father of the briety gave me one hundred dollars.

Speaker 2 (01:08:17):
Stare see who's one hundred dollars bill? Yeah, it's been Franklin.
There we go, OK, And I.

Speaker 5 (01:08:23):

wood is the parking lot.

Speaker 2 (01:08:36):
All right, we're getting plumb backed up from Porter.

Speaker 5 (01:08:39):
Now, did we clear the North Freeway west Mount Houston, Yes,
we do.

Speaker 2 (01:08:42):
That's out of the way. We still have a bit
of a smudge. Let me see how far it's gotten.
Actually a little better. You're gonna hit the brakes at
Green's Point.

Speaker 5 (01:08:49):
Stay the course, even if you're a big shot party
you look great though. Spring down nineteen minutes East Texas,
Young Albert said, is tough stuff coming in downtown. Why
are they doing that road? It's like some overnight maintenance stuff.
Southbound East Texta Canyon's pretty messy coming down from Quitman.
You've got brakes if you want to jump on the
pier salivated, that's a good way around that. We keep

(01:09:10):
getting these shots of the golf Freeway telephone and who
was that entry from.

Speaker 2 (01:09:14):
Most City Scott mca.

Speaker 5 (01:09:16):
Well if somebody found that for me outbound right at wayside,
not a big deal. Just watch out for other stations
listeners swerving at last minute there and also Katie Freeway
that was inbound the managed lanes at Guessner. It's a stall.
Oh they cleared the stall. Metro nevermind, Mike from Magnelia dudey.

like a last year round here on Thursday.

Speaker 2 (01:09:57):
Isn't it.

Speaker 6 (01:10:01):
There are no glaciers showing up.

Speaker 4 (01:10:02):
No glaciers, no most but it's certainly gonna be cold.

Speaker 17 (01:10:06):
It's gonna be cold by Houston standards. I think some
Alaskans will be like, ah, that feels like a tropical vacation.
So yeah, big dropping temperature, folks. We'll go from the
eighties into the sixties and a matter of two days
by Wednesday, that cold air shows up and hanks around
for a while too.

Speaker 6 (01:10:25):
Oh and just wait to you hear what it's gonna
do at night.

Speaker 17 (01:10:28):
So today kind of a repeat of yesterday, sunny and
dry load to mid eighties today. Tomorrow we'll get some rain,
a sixty percent chance of thunderstorms ahead of the cold front,
the showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon, it's going to
be warm into upper eighties, and then Wednesday sunny, breezy,
and only mid upper sixties, close to seventy. Thursday, warming

(01:10:52):
up a little more Friday and lo to mid seventies.
But our temperatures Tomorrow night will be in the fifties
and then Wednesday night in the forties.

Speaker 2 (01:11:01):
Wow.

Speaker 4 (01:11:02):
Right now, sixty one in your official severe weather station,

It's more of a fluffle, not a fule kerf fluffle.

Speaker 5 (01:11:51):

Right, let's check out some more top trending stories on
the Monday. Here's Cliff heyun Jimmy.

Speaker 6 (01:12:22):
President Trump continues his Asia trip in Japan. Former Texas
Solicitor General Kyle Hawkins has been pointed to the State
Supreme Court, and Jimmy, you mentioned this a little while ago.
Penny shortage is affecting retailers like Kroger. Production of pennies
was stopped in May. Got some change.

I live in clear Lake, Humble, reliable KTRH traffic and
weather next on the ten.

Speaker 4 (01:12:58):
Well, easier said than done, because right now the air
traffic controllers are not getting a check, and they're out moonlighting,
and they're also in many cases not showing up for work.
So you've got delays and cancelations all around the country.
Sean Duffy over the weekend warning us that it's likely
to get worse.

Speaker 21 (01:13:17):
Yeah, So they got their notice on Thursday and Friday,
they get a notice of what they're going to be
paid on Tuesday, and they got a big fat zero.
No paycheck is coming on Tuesday. And so I've been
out talking to our air traffic controllers and you can
see the stress. These are people that oftentimes live paycheck
to paycheck, or one controller has a stay at home spouse.
They're concerned about gas in the car, they're concerned about

(01:13:40):
childcare and mortgages, and so I'm seeing the stress.

Speaker 25 (01:13:44):
Come for the controllers.

Speaker 21 (01:13:45):
Just yesterday, Mario, we had twenty two staffing triggers that's
one of the highest that we've seen in the system
since the shutdown began. And that's a sign that the
controllers are wearing thin and again they're taking second jobs.
They're out there looking can I drive over? Can I
find another source.

Speaker 25 (01:14:02):
Of income to make ends meet?

Speaker 21 (01:14:04):
Until Democrats stop with the radical push for illegal migrants.

Speaker 25 (01:14:07):
And actually open up the government.

Speaker 21 (01:14:09):
And so what I see coming forward as we get
to Monday, Tomorrow, Tuesday, and Wednesday, that you're going to
see more staffing shortages and towers, which means you're going
to see more delays, more cancellations, and then you see
more Americans frustrated at.

Speaker 25 (01:14:23):
Democrats and they'll say open up the government. Enough is enough.

Speaker 21 (01:14:26):
We're trying to bring more controllers into the pipeline, into
the career path. Our academy is in Oklahoma City, and
right now we're not paying the instructors at the academy,
but the students they get a stipend that help them
live while they go be trained up to be a controller.
That stipend runs out in a little over a week.
We could lose this trunch of air traffic controllers. So

(01:14:49):
instead of going in the right direction, trying to bring
more controllers into the system, I'm going to lose them.
This has long term implications on our ability to make
sure we don't we have the staffing shortages, and our
flights are on time and they're not delayed, which I
think frustrates so many darn Americans.

Speaker 4 (01:15:06):
Yeah, like I said, if there is not a resolution
of this, the last thing I want to be on
Thanksgiving Week or Christmas Week is on the plane all right.

Speaker 2 (01:19:23):
Why did it embarrass them?

Speaker 6 (01:19:24):
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessing on CBS. Even though she lost
in a landslide, Kamala Harris is dropping hints about another
run in twenty twenty eight.

Speaker 10 (01:19:32):
You made a decision yet, no, I have not. But
you say in your book I'm not done.

Speaker 2 (01:19:38):
That is correct.

Speaker 6 (01:19:38):
I am not done, Kamala with the BBC. Gavin Newsom
admitted to thinking about his own presidential aspirations yesterday. Democrats
keep trying to offer Harris and Newsom as alternatives to Trump.
But that's where their biggest problem is.

Speaker 4 (01:19:54):
All they care about is being anti Trump with no
real platform, and they've disconnected from reality.

Speaker 11 (01:20:00):
When you have a political party that is hyper focused
on one particular man, it's unable to really navigate the
political storms.

Speaker 4 (01:20:10):
Political strategist Vlad Davidio says the party is now governed
by ideology rather than solutions, and don't expect them to
have an epiphany.

Speaker 11 (01:20:17):

The left melted down, saying that she had no principles,

I applaud her for posting it.

Speaker 12 (01:20:49):
It shows that she is human and that he is human,

they wanted their feelings.

Speaker 6 (01:20:58):
Sir Water's left off the whole thing, saying it appears
he quote got her in trouble.

Speaker 2 (01:21:03):
Here at home.

Speaker 6 (01:21:04):
The Wolke mob came for an Austin farm that was
going to host an event for the conservative Texas Public
Policy Foundation. They succeeded in getting it canceled.

Speaker 13 (01:21:13):
This came with more of the extreme rhetoric we've seen
from the left over the last few months.

Speaker 14 (01:21:17):
Somehow TPPF is the face of fascism in Austin. That's
to me the most disturbing part of this, the violent language.

Speaker 13 (01:21:26):
That's truck de war with the Texas Public Policy Foundation.
He said, this was supposed to be a simple event
about environmental safety.

Speaker 14 (01:21:32):
You would think that would have strong bipartisan support, would
be worthy of discussion at such a venue, but no,
instead that was shut down.

I'm Cliff Saunders on Houston's news, weather, and traffic station

(01:22:36):
News Radio seven forty KTRH.

Speaker 3 (01:22:40):
Now back to Jimmy Barrett and the Houston Morning News
team Houston's Morning News bars WO had those kinds of
crude oil blues.

Speaker 4 (01:22:49):
What we have is the strategic reserve blues because well,
remember Biden gave up all that oil in the strategic
Oil Reserve to try to keep gas prances lower, you know,
hoping that that would help him with the American public.

Speaker 2 (01:23:06):
Well, isn't that funny?

Speaker 4 (01:23:07):
Strategic oil reserve is still low, but the prices are
really good because we have a very pro energy president.
But he's going to buy a million barrels. The price
has gotten down to the point where it makes sense
to replenish the Strategic Oil Reserve. A million barrels of
oil will be going in there. So here's somebody knows

(01:23:28):
a little something about the topic talking about it. He is,
by the way, let me see if I can get
his title here for you, same as Tim Phillips, West Point,
Director of Government Affairs. On what's going on here with this,
this purchase of one million barrels of oil for the
Strategic Oil Reserve.

Speaker 42 (01:23:49):
You know, this is a good start with the president,
I agree, and that you start feeling the spr You know,
prices are of course in kind of the bottom of
the barrel, as we say, commodity prices are lost.

Speaker 2 (01:24:02):
Is certainly the.

Speaker 42 (01:24:03):
Time to buy, buy this cheaper product and refill spr
with it. You know, we don't we won't always have
this small over capacity of the oil in the world
production over capacity to refill this with. So certainly we

(01:24:24):
need to do it now. In less than eighteen months,
we're going to be down, you know, where that over
capacity of one to two percent and the world is gone.
And so certainly the time is good. China has refilled theirs,
refilling it up to one point one billion barrels, and

(01:24:44):
while ours is about four hundred million, so we need
to refill it.

Speaker 29 (01:24:50):
The timing is right.

Speaker 42 (01:24:51):
The President gets gets it on energy and realize is
certainly this is the right thing to do.

Speaker 4 (01:24:58):
All right, sounds like we need to maybe a little
more though. Huh, China's got billions of barrels and we've
got four hundred million. Yeah, we might want to buy
some more. Seven ten Time four traffic and weather together. Yep,
sky Mike, you've got some update on the drive. Still
got problems with the canyon.

Speaker 2 (01:25:14):
By what we.

Speaker 5 (01:25:15):
Had this some kind of rolling road crew. You know,
these guys come around at night and for some reason
they were doing this early morning thing southbound. We still
got kind of a smudge, but they've gotten now the
way you've got the usual breaks around Daikin Park. I'm
getting used to saying that it's an extra two or
three down. Go ahead and stay the course on even
the east text. Now, if you want to take forty
five this is America southbound from I ten to be

(01:25:38):
someone Bridge, maybe you lose about two minutes going through
the Pierce Elevated forty five northbound forty five Golf Freeway
right in front of waffle house.

Speaker 2 (01:25:46):
Got a minor crash here. We're just pointing at things.

Speaker 5 (01:25:49):
I think they'll have that ninja pretty shortly coming up
from Edgebrook there.

Speaker 2 (01:25:53):
What is that club there?

Speaker 17 (01:25:54):
Oh?

Speaker 5 (01:25:54):
No, get away from there, Yeah, I know. Check look
out northbound. We're an extra two or three minutes here.
And on the north side forty five. We cleared that
wreck at West Mountain Houston. That's out of the way. Now,
we've got some kind of smudge on the north sam
right at the Veterans Toll Plaza heading westbound. And if
you're trying to get to forty nine, trouble also to
forty nine another minor crash nineteen sixty. I could you

(01:26:17):

Speaker 2 (01:26:35):
Do you have any change?

Speaker 10 (01:26:37):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (01:26:37):
I do have some coins, gutty pennies because I hear
they're worth a lot more than penny these days.

Speaker 6 (01:26:42):
Interesting, I probably do.

Speaker 17 (01:26:43):
I had to break a bill the other day because
I was flying and needed some cash for tips.

Speaker 4 (01:26:49):
So I probably I think we all do the cash
for tips thing, don't we? Seems like we all.

Speaker 6 (01:26:54):
Do what I just think it's a nice thing to do.

Speaker 1 (01:26:57):
I do too.

Speaker 2 (01:26:57):
I do too.

Speaker 4 (01:26:58):
It's up to them to report to the government, not me. Yeah, right,
So anyway, I.

Speaker 6 (01:27:03):
Like that guy's idea.

Speaker 17 (01:27:04):
By the way of throwing is change into a jar
for a weekend fun.

Speaker 4 (01:27:08):
Yeah, yeah, that's what I really should count. How much
money is in that jarre at home? There might be
a lot more money than I think there is.

Speaker 6 (01:27:14):
Probably.

Speaker 4 (01:27:15):
Yeah, I know one thing. The temperature is going to
be going down big time here in a couple of days, big.

Speaker 6 (01:27:19):
Time, big time.

Speaker 17 (01:27:21):
Like our temperature right now is probably going to be
about as warm as we get on Wednesday.

Speaker 6 (01:27:26):
It's just a yeah, kind of get you in the
right mindset.

Speaker 17 (01:27:29):
Nice day today, really, yeah, lots of sunshine, mid to
upper eighties this afternoon, kind of like yesterday. Tomorrow, the
coldfront heads our way. Now, the rain holds off until
the afternoon. It's a sixty percent chance of thundershowers Tomorrow.
Temperatures are going to be even warmer in the mid
to upper eighties tomorrow, but that front sneaks through tomorrow night,

(01:27:50):
so overnight you're going to see those temperatures plummeting into
the fifties overnight Tomorrow night, and then Wednesday, it's it's
a beautiful day, but it's going to be breezy, with
highs only in the mid dumber sixties, and then close
to seventy Thursday, and load to mid seventies on Friday.
So finally a nice stretch of fall and some nice

lot of people don't want an alternative more than that

I live in Friends with Your forecast is at the
bottom of the hour on seven forty KTRH.

Speaker 4 (01:29:50):
Yeah, well there's no good alternative to Donald Trump, that's
for sure. Seven twenty two is their time here in
Houston's borning news, at least not for Democrats, because well,
who do they have? Is Gavin Nussim a good alternative
to Trump? Kamala Harris No, Glad Vindick joined this political strategist.
You know, I don't know who's looking for an alternative

(01:30:12):
to Trump, but there's who do we have to choose from?
Who it is somebody who's, let's say, is an independent
but cares about things like illegal immigration and how the
country is being run and saving Social Security and making
sure it's there for people twenty thirty years from now.
Who is offering that to them other than Donald Trump.

Speaker 11 (01:30:31):
The Democrats have done a fantastic job of ensuring that
no one that's not on their side is offering any
any kind of that bossing they have that completely rejects
the premise of what Republicans at President Trump have achieved.
So anyone who is interested in solving problems, anyone who's

(01:30:53):
interested in providing good solutions to American people, has left
the Democrat Party. It's the results of their ostracization, their persecution.
They're purging of the left of any good ideas. All
they have left is socialism, decision, culture, crisis, and economic futility.

(01:31:18):
That's all that they have left. There's nothing good there.

Speaker 2 (01:31:21):
How do you think?

Speaker 4 (01:31:22):
But how do you think this whole government shutdown works
itself out? At this particular point in time, It looks
like the Democrats are not interested in backing down. I
don't think Republicans at this point are interested in backing
down because they think they have the high road in
this argument. But we're at the point now where we're
seeing some cracks along the way and some people who
maybe have not been impacted or haven't felt the government

(01:31:43):
shutdown are going to start feeling and people certainly on Snap.
Maybe that doesn't involve many of any of our listeners,
but we have a lot of listeners who travel, and
you can't go to the airport now without fear that
your flight believed to be canceled or will be delayed
because of air traffic control, and a lot of airports
are having to make these changes. What gets to be

(01:32:04):
the tipping point in all this?

Speaker 2 (01:32:05):
Do you think.

Speaker 11 (01:32:07):
The tipping point is going to come when Democrats and
their base supporters begin to feel more of the impact
and more of the pain of the Schumer shutdown. The
vast majority of the amounts of overspending and over budgeting

(01:32:27):
and bloated and bloated finances aligns very sharply with Democrat
agenda items, and so as soon as their supporters, as
soon as their voters begin to feel that pressure, begin
to feel that pain, they're going to contact their representatives,
are going to contact their senators and say something has
to happen, because they started to impact me. And it's

(01:32:49):
already starting to happen. I mean, the vast majority of
those who are starting to already feel the impact are
people who are illegally, people who are on government assistants
and refuse to get jobs, people who have no marketable
skills that allow them to perform in a society that
allows them to earn a living. And so those align

(01:33:11):
very sharply with Democrat supporters, and so as that continues
to increase, we're going to start to feed Democrats being
forced to take a position of aligning with the demands
that Republicans have made, rather than making their ransom demands
and holding the American government hostage.

Speaker 4 (01:33:28):
So you want to take a stab at this. How
much time do you think we have left in this
government shutdown before people decide that's enough.

Speaker 11 (01:33:36):
I suspect we're probably going to get about halfway to Thanksgiving.
I think we will by Thanksgiving.

Speaker 32 (01:33:42):
US I think the should be open again.

Speaker 11 (01:33:44):
I think that's more likely than not going to happen,
because that benefits begin to cease starting November first, and
it's only so long that you can go without before
you have to make severe choices. And then we're going
to have very big travel days coming up at Thanksgiving,
and that's going to be hugely impactful, not only to

(01:34:07):
air force, but to businesses across the country and family.
So I think sometime between now and Thanksgiving, a deal
is going to be reached.

Speaker 4 (01:34:14):
All right, glad, thanks is always good to talk to
your political strategies. BLA Davidiock at seven twenty seven. As
we take a look at your money, here's Courtney Donaho.

Speaker 16 (01:34:21):
Good morning. The strike continues at Boeing factory. Workers in
Saint Louis rejected a new five year contract that would
have boosted paid by twenty four percent. The nearly three
month walkout has disrupted Boeing's main military manufacturing hub. I'm
Courtney Donahoe, Bloomberg Business on News Radio seven forty KTRH.

Speaker 6 (01:34:42):
You are No Houston's news Weather.

Speaker 26 (01:34:45):
We're Traffic plus Breaking News twenty four to seven. This
is News Radio seven forty KTRH.

Speaker 2 (01:34:51):
Five Everywhere with zyr app.

Speaker 3 (01:34:54):
More of what's happening now from the John Morris Services Studios.

Speaker 2 (01:34:58):
Seven thirty one. Now you're INHU this Morning News.

Speaker 4 (01:35:00):
I'm Jimmy Barren hung Our top stories this have are
those who do try to reg elections accused Trump of
doing the same thing. Hi's finalists in Portland continues zero
arrested and coming up at seven thirty eight. Well, there's
still a few of us with cash in our pocket.
Details in the minutes ahead. First, we're checking out that
morning drive. Still got that Crisp one hundred dollars bills

(01:35:22):
got Oh yeah, I'm loving it.

Speaker 2 (01:35:23):
No, Cliff, you can't have it.

Speaker 5 (01:35:24):
Let's look on the northwest side here two forty nine. Boy,
you were smunched up on the inbound. We had been
having this pavement deal. Then we had a minor crash
right after Willowbrook nineteen sixty. We were just pointing at
things and some breaks now from Cypruswood.

Speaker 2 (01:35:38):
It's pretty thick. I remember when two forty nine I
didn't even have.

Speaker 5 (01:35:40):
To talk about you on Grab Parkway North trying to
hit the golf ball. We're awfully slow around kirkandall just
a lot of you in each other's way and Nord
Freeway inbound. The breaks starting to hit now from Patten
into downtown. To be someone bridge, I'm Skottmike of the
USA Rbresorts dot Com Traffic center.

Speaker 4 (01:35:57):
From r KTRH generator is super cent twenty four hour
weather center Sunday and mild today with a high temperature
right about eighty four. Big cool down is coming with
highs only in the sixties on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
gonna be cool as well, but that'll be a nice
little break from all the heat we've had all summer long.
We'll talk to Terry Smith about all this in eight
minutes right now sixty one at your official severe weather station,

(01:36:19):
News Radio seven forty k TRH. It's time now for
the news. Here's Cliff Saunders.

Speaker 6 (01:36:25):
Hey you, Jimmy, seven thirty two. Our tough story. Democrats
used to rip the president when he said elections were rigged. Now, well,
just listen.

Speaker 27 (01:36:33):
Donald Trump's unprecedented effort to jerrymann their congressional maps in
order to rig the midterm elections to well, no, Democrats.

Speaker 28 (01:36:42):
Are also going through through jerry mandering and redistricting.

Speaker 6 (01:36:47):
That was House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries on CBS getting
called out by Margaret Brennan. Meantime to send it returns
to try to reopen the government today, but there are
other obstacles getting in the way.

Speaker 47 (01:37:00):
The House remains out and there are no talks to
solve the crisis. And even if Congress approved the original
enterim spending bill, it would only keep the lights on
until November twenty First.

Speaker 6 (01:37:12):
Ox's Chat program, Democrats want free healthcare for people who
are here in this country illegally, you know, illegal aliens.
But Democrats don't want you to use that term.

Speaker 25 (01:37:22):
We don't have illegal aliens.

Speaker 30 (01:37:24):
Yeah, I don't know if that's from some sort of
sci fi message that you wish have had. Well, listen,
the legal term for my people were slaves. You want
me to use that term too.

Speaker 6 (01:37:34):
Chicago may Or Brandon Johnson ripping a reporter for using facts.
We also saw more anti ice violence and protests over
the weekend.

Speaker 1 (01:37:43):
Take that helmet off.

Speaker 17 (01:37:45):
Take that helmet off.

Speaker 6 (01:37:48):
Yeah, that was in Portland where we had clashes between
anti ice rioters and conservatives. Several people were injured, nobody
was arrested. It's seven thirty four of the left continues
to lose their mond mines over President Trump's White House ballroom.
But this is nothing new, and Trump was pushing this
back during the Obama administration.

Speaker 31 (01:38:09):
I told David Axel right, David, I will build a
ballroom free of charge, at least one hundred million dollars.
We'll make it the finest ballroom in the world. We'll
put it someplace so it works contextually magnificently.

Speaker 1 (01:38:20):
It'll be done. We'll have committee set up.

Speaker 31 (01:38:24):
I never heard back.

Speaker 6 (01:38:24):
That was Trump during the twenty sixteen campaign. He's in
Tokyo this morning and the latest stop on his Asia tour.
The big meeting is on Thursday in Korea with China
Jesan Ping. The US and China have a deal on
the framework for a trade agreement. The Texas economy continues
to roll along with one exception. Revenues have been booming

(01:38:45):
for two decades, but suddenly the picture's not looking so rosy.
The latest report shows a one percent growth over last year,
which is slightly less than inflation.

Speaker 32 (01:38:54):
Sales tax has been pretty flat for the last couple
of years. The all in gas production tax is kind
of down.

Speaker 6 (01:39:00):
Bill King at Rice's Baker Institute says the state is
still growing, just not as fast. The bottom line, he says,
is that the state will have less cash to throw
at property tax reform next legislative session. That is ktrh's rex.
So It's gasoline prices continued dropping, their averaging two fifty
six a gallon across Houston this morning, about fifteen cents
cheaper than they were one year ago. But there is

(01:39:23):
more pain when you take the kids out for a
quick bite to eat. Fast food chains have hiked up
their prices by forty percent since COVID economist Tank Lewis
as the restaurants are making up for lost revenue, and
you can blame inflation and higher labor costs.

Speaker 2 (01:39:37):
They need more people.

Speaker 14 (01:39:38):
There's less automation in those restaurants than you see in
other types of businesses.

Speaker 6 (01:39:43):
It's now seven thirty five. The CEO of the Alamo Trust,
which manages the Alamo, is removed from her position because
writings that appear to indicate slavery should be given more
focus when telling the Alamo story.

Speaker 29 (01:39:56):
Here are those who want us to believe that the
Almo Fight was about slavery. Nothing could be further from
the truth. It was the charity of Santana that was
the abrogation of the Constitution of eighteen twenty four.

Speaker 6 (01:40:08):
Former Land Office Commissioner Jerry Patterson says the focus must
be on the Battle of the Alamo and the fight
for Texas liberty. Speaking of school and education, another underperforming
Texas school district is taken over by the state.

Speaker 34 (01:40:23):
The TA has announced it's taking over the school district
in Fort Wors. That doesn't sit well with the state's
largest teachers union, which feels that boards should be elected,
not appointed.

Speaker 32 (01:40:33):
And that basically takes away the voting right so parents
in that school district.

Speaker 34 (01:40:38):
Clay Robinson is with the Texas State Teachers Association. The
takeover in Fort Worth is likely just the beginning. There
are four other Texas school districts at risk because of
their repeated failing test scores.

Speaker 6 (01:40:49):
AJR chis Beth Meyers. One of those districts is the
Beaumont ISD. Texans beat the forty nine Ers twenty six
to fifteen, Rockets and Nets. Tonight pregame at six on
Sports Talk SEVN nine. I'm Cliff Saunders on Houston's news,
weather and traffic station k t rh.

Speaker 3 (01:41:05):
More with Jimmy Barrett and the Houston Morning News team.
This is Houston's Morning News. Remember the old saying cash
is king? Is cash still king?

Speaker 4 (01:41:16):
To you? Cash still king? Seven thirty seven our time
here in Houston's Born News. We got this conversation started
this morning. Is is Kroger is Well, they're having a
hard time making change. There's been a shortage of change,
in particular pennies because we're not making a penny anymore,
and people who are coming in and you know, spending cash.

(01:41:40):
They're having a hard time making change for those people.
So they were thinking of it. They're not going to
write now. They understand there's still people who want to
be able to spend cash who have to be served.
But there are retailers around the country. There are states
Ohio comes to mind, for example, where you're not required
as a retail to take cash. You can say no

(01:42:01):
cash and just take take credit or debit cards and
no cash involved. I like having a little cash. I
still like to use cash. I'm with one of our
callers earlier said, if it's under twenty bucks, I'll use cash.
If it is, you know, if it's under If it's
over twenty bucks, I'll use my debit card or my
credit card. And I would have to say, I'm pretty

(01:42:23):
much the same. My threshold might be a little bit
lower ten bucks. Maybe I have a hard time. My
wife would have no problem putting fifty nine cents on
the debit card. I've going come on, honey, I know
you've got cash, fifty nine cents on the deck. Just
pay cash than fifty nine cents. But anyway, what are

(01:42:43):
your rules on cashtill carry cash? Do you still use cash?
How are you dealing with cash versus no cash?

Speaker 48 (01:42:51):
They from Lamark, well, you have to be rich if
all you can use at your credit card. I can't
do that. I don't have that luxury. I need my cats.
Not When I pay my light bill, they're going to
charge me twenty five dollars fee to pay it with
my card. And I just don't have money.

Speaker 2 (01:43:08):
Like that to give it away.

Speaker 48 (01:43:10):
So if that happened, there's going to be a lot
of angry people, and uh hell, they might even jump
off a bridge.

Speaker 43 (01:43:17):
Hey, Jimmy, Because I have a one hour commute to work,
I mostly saved the cash and my wallet for the
gas that I use. That way, I know, I don't
put that much more pressure on my credit card.

Speaker 14 (01:43:28):
Tom.

Speaker 42 (01:43:29):
I use cash is for tips for drivers or delivery
guys or whatever.

Speaker 2 (01:43:35):
That's the only time I use cash.

Speaker 4 (01:43:37):
Yeah, I still use it for tips too, not a
lot of things, not like I used to, You know,
I used to. I used to pay cash for just
about everything, if nothing else too.

Speaker 9 (01:43:47):
You.

Speaker 4 (01:43:47):
Here's the other thing about using the debit card all
the time. It makes it easier to track what you're spending.
If you're spending cash all the time, it's it's easy
for that to kind of get away from me. Where
did all the cash go? What did I spend this on?

Speaker 32 (01:44:00):
On?

Speaker 2 (01:44:00):
Seven? Forty?

Speaker 29 (01:44:01):
Time?

Speaker 4 (01:44:01):
For traffic and weather? Together, we take it.

Speaker 5 (01:44:04):
If we get rid of cash, I'm telling you, the
devil's gonna take over it. You gotta have some cash here, Terry, here,
pull that for me. There, no cliff, you can't have
any where you want to go, Jimmy, pick a direction.

Speaker 2 (01:44:13):
I don't care, let's go from west to east. Let's
go from west. All right, Advisors, that's a good time
to go visoring. Right now.

Speaker 5 (01:44:19):
I got something going on the Fort Ben Tollway. Something
smashing up Lake Olympia Parkway. I rarely talk about the
Fort Ben Tollway because you have so few problems there.
Got about a twelve minute drag coming up this way.
Reports of some kind of stall vehicle, maybe some debris
in the road too. I have to assume that at
the fifty break. Also right over his shoulder. Boy, it's

(01:44:41):
bad lock to get on Highway six about this time.
Right now now Lake Olympia Parkway. This crash has you
backed up on Highway six both ways trying to get
through Sienna Katie Freeway. A Visors, you've got the breaks
now from West Road from a Mason Road into about Barker,
Cyprus to ninety. We are two ninety Yuay, if you
had a grand march at your wedding, you'll hit the
brakes around Huffmeister and they're about to clear that reck Willerbrook.

(01:45:03):
That's two forty nine and at nineteen sixty oh something
quick East Freeway.

Speaker 2 (01:45:07):
Hey, Mike, just have to Lockwood exits.

Speaker 11 (01:45:10):
There's an fit.

Speaker 2 (01:45:11):
Out the.

Speaker 5 (01:45:15):
Heavy all right, well said, I'm in the Generator Supercenter
dot Com Traffic Center, Terry. A couple of nights from now,
this will be me on the farm with the fire,
having a beer, just chilling.

Speaker 17 (01:45:27):
Yeah, that's a couple of nights from now. But aren't
you making a breakfast run for us?

Speaker 2 (01:45:31):
And you have all that right and we grab that cash.
All right, I'll be right back thanks to you.

Speaker 4 (01:45:34):
All right, I'll find a restaurant that can break is
one hundred from our KTRH Generator super Center twenty four
hour Weather Center, Terry is here. If you like the
warm weathers, you're good for the next two days. But
better figure out what you did with the sweatshirts and
all that kind of stuff.

Speaker 6 (01:45:50):
I was gonna say, do you know where your jacket is?

Speaker 17 (01:45:54):
You're gonna want it. You're gonna want something with long sleeves.
It's gonna be about twenty degree colder by Wednesday.

Speaker 6 (01:46:03):
Yeah, big drop in temperature.

Speaker 17 (01:46:04):
Yeah, nice day today, sunshine load to mid eighties, kind
of like yesterday. Tomorrow's even warmer. Ahead of the front.
We do have some rain, a sixty percent chance of showers.
Some thunder tomorrow afternoon and hides in the middumper eighties
and then twenty degrees colder about for most of us
on Wednesday. We're dry Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Wednesday in

(01:46:26):
the mid to upper sixties. That's like typical low temperatures
for US, and only slightly warmer Thursday, and your seventy
Thursday load to mid seventies by Friday.

Speaker 6 (01:46:37):
So yeah, nice little stretch of fall.

Speaker 4 (01:46:39):
Right now sixty two at your officials Severe Weather station,
News Radio seven forty KTRH.

Speaker 2 (01:46:46):
I live in Pasadena, Sharptown, Southwest.

Speaker 19 (01:46:48):
Next on the ten time saving traffic on seven forty
Ktrhillright in case.

Speaker 4 (01:47:05):
You missed the announcement earlier, we are taking our listeners
to Alaska next August. August of twenty twenty six. Now
you say, well, wait a minute, that's a long ways away, JB.
And it's a ways away. But here's the thing. We
have limited space on our trip. We had a big
group that went to Greece. I have heard from everybody

(01:47:25):
you think this is gonna sell off fast, and I
think it will sell off fast. I think I think
we have a lot of people who have always wanted
to go to Alaska and just have not gotten around
to doing it, or went once a long time ago
and had such a great time they want to go back.
So I just want to mention this. If you want
to get in on this, if you want to get
the information, now's the time to do it. Go to
Travel with Jimmy dot com, or you can call eight

(01:47:46):
hundred three eight three thirty one thirty one and either
reserve a spot or at least get the itinerary and
bite out more about it. We're we're gonna be on
board the Celebrity Edge for an entire week. We're going
to Seattle first, get a tour of the city, spend
the night in the hotel there, boutique hotel, do a
cruise of Alaska. We're going to Skagway. We're going We're
going everywhere you'd want to go. We're gonna see glaciers

(01:48:07):
and we'll probably see a whale or two. We'll see
a ton of eagles and moose, and lord knows what else.
So come on with us eight hundred three eight three
thirty one thirty one to go to Travel with Jimmy
dot Com seven fifty time for traffic and weather together
what have you discovered skuy Mane.

Speaker 5 (01:48:21):
We got laneage now that's inbound. That's East Freeway at Lockwood.
You heard about it first. Right here, two left planes
are blocked. I did let the pretty ladies on TV
know got backups from wayside Highway six CE in a
bad time for a wreck at Lake Olympia Parkway and
that's causing some MiG suckings both ways. I'm Scott Michael,
the USA Rvresorts dot.

Speaker 4 (01:48:40):

four hour weathers are sunny, mild, eighty four for the
high today, partly cody for the morning, thunderstorms sixty percent
chance in the afternoon eighty six tomorrow, and then after
the cold front moves through, sixty seven, sunshine and breezy

now now it is sixty two at your official severe

(01:49:03):
weather station, News Radio seven forty KTRH. So I have
to check out some more of our top stories here
on a Monday morning.

Speaker 2 (01:49:10):
Here's clip.

Speaker 6 (01:49:10):
Thank you Jimmy the Senate who's back at work today,
but there's no end in sight to the shutdown. Couple
of Californians admit to considering presidential runs in twenty twenty eight.
Gavin Newsom and Kamala Harrison, we told you that BUCkies
broke round on a new location in Louisiana. Well, they've
also done so on new locations in Tennessee, in Kansas.

(01:49:32):
At the latest news anytime at KTRH dot com. Our
next update is at eight o'clock. I live in Katie,
I live in Ito.

Speaker 3 (01:49:39):
Your reliable forecast next on the ten on seven forty KTRH.

Speaker 4 (01:49:46):
Well, the countdown now is a one month and we're
seeing some problems. If you get snap benefits, you're going
to see a problem here in another a little over
a week because there's no Snap benefits going out from
the month of November. That's gonna put I would think
I'd put a lot of pressure on Democrats because I'm
guessing there are a few more Democrats than Republicans. Just

(01:50:08):
a wild guess, but a few more Democrats than Republicans
that are getting Snap benefits. The rest of us will
be screaming from the airport if we're traveling for Thanksgiving
and Christmas. Thanksgiving and Christmas are the busiest travel times anyway.
You know, the airports are just full of people, and
if you end up in a situation where you have

(01:50:31):
air traffic control issues and flights are being canceled and delayed,
it's not going to take long for that to be
just a major, major problem. If people can't get to
the loved ones for the holidays. They book these tickets,
in some cases on non refundable tickets, and they can't
get to where they need to go because of a
government shutdown. Oh yeah, there's going to be there's going

(01:50:52):
to be a lot of upset people. So representive Tim Burchet,
who who always pretty much says whatever is on his mind,
here are his thought to him. Where we're at one
month into this government shutdown.

Speaker 2 (01:51:03):
It's because Chuck Schumer.

Speaker 22 (01:51:04):
He wants to cause as much pain as he can.
He's got to appease that far left Marxist base that's
going to win the once great City of New York
the mayor's race. There an anti Semitic person, communist say
the least, and.

Speaker 2 (01:51:18):
That's what he's got.

Speaker 32 (01:51:18):
A peace.

Speaker 22 (01:51:19):
He sees AOC creeping up behind him, and he knows,
as she announces tomorrow she will have that that is
not no longer Chuck Schumer's base. Chuck Shemer is probably
not a communist, He's probably just a far lefty and
he realizes that. So he's got to have that base,
and he's going to cause the country to suffer. And
the shame on the Democrat Party because in the past,
Schumer could just put out something.

Speaker 2 (01:51:39):
It didn't have to be the truth.

Speaker 22 (01:51:40):
But you know, ABC, NBCCBS, MSNBC, CNN, all the Kluck
kids on the view, they just mimic what he said,
and every single Democrat could hide behind.

Speaker 2 (01:51:48):
Chuck Schumer's skirt.

Speaker 22 (01:51:50):
Well, thank goodness for Fox News and a few others
in these podcasters that they're putting the truth out because
America realized that's a lie. And I have a lady
that married to a buddy mine and she'll she'll drunk
text me about every night she gets in her wine
and she's blaming everything on Trump.

Speaker 1 (01:52:05):
And she's an educated lady.

Speaker 2 (01:52:07):
I went to school with her.

Speaker 22 (01:52:08):
And she tells me that this is all the Republicans fault.
And then when I explained to her the Republicans only
have fifty three votes in the Senate. They need sixty,
then she says, oh, I didn't realize that these are
your educated people. We need to make sure we're messaging that. Kevin,
and thank you so much for bringing.

Speaker 1 (01:52:24):
This topic up.

Speaker 22 (01:52:24):
Because the Democrats do not care about poor people. All
they care about is power. That's what you see in Washington,
and frankly, both parties a lot of times is about
power and control.

Speaker 2 (01:52:34):
Donald Trump understands that.

Speaker 22 (01:52:35):
He said he'll negotiate, just open the dad gum government.

Speaker 2 (01:52:38):
How easy is that.

Speaker 22 (01:52:39):
All you need is four or five more Democrats in
the Senate to cross over with Fatterman and a few
of those that have the guts to do something but
said no. They want America to suffer, and they have
still drawn their paychecks.

Speaker 1 (01:52:50):
Every dad gum d.

Speaker 2 (01:52:53):
Lot dad gums in there. Huh.

Speaker 4 (01:52:56):
I mean, I think that's a favorite word of his,
when the dad gum government, from your lips to God's ears,
just open the just open the that gum government.

Speaker 2 (01:53:10):
I mean, it ain't hard, just do it. Uh. But
they won't, at least not right now.

Speaker 24 (01:53:16):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (01:53:16):
But you know, here's the thing, there's gonna be enough
upset people. There's gonna be enough people who we we
it's human nature. We don't complain about things usually unless
it impacts us. We worry about what impacts us, not worry,
not worry about what impacts others. Am I is it
gonna bother me that personally do not get SNAP benefits? No,

(01:53:37):
I'm not getting Snap benefits. Is it gonna Is it
gonna impact on me personally to to to have my
flight to later cancel because there's no air traffic controller? Yeah,
well not in this case, not this holiday, not for me,
but but yeah, a lot more of our listeners will
be impacted by that. Listen, y'all have a great day.
We'll see tomorrow morning break nearly five am. Hope to
see you the SAT from four an AM nine fifty kprs.
