of a shower as well, with a high of seventy five.
We'll give you an extended forecast coming up at five

Speaker 6 (01:42):
It's five oh one on KTRH our top story.
Speaker 1 (01:45):
I think we're getting near to the end of this.
Speaker 3 (01:47):
That's Fox's brick youme.
Speaker 6 (01:49):
Today is day thirty one of the federal government shutdown.
President Trump urging Republicans to kill the filibuster to reopen things.
Speaker 3 (01:56):
At least one Democrat agrees on.
Speaker 7 (02:00):
That we ran on killing the philibuster and now we
love it. I don't want to hear any Democrats clutching
their pearls about the filibuster.
Speaker 6 (02:07):
Ooh, Mike drop moment from Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman. Millions
of Americans could lose SNAP benefits tomorrow. Texas Senator John
Cornin says Democrats are treating some Americans as and we're
quoting here political playthings.
Speaker 8 (02:22):
Our senate Democrat colleagues are literally taking food out of
the mouths of hungry children because of their stubbornness.
Speaker 6 (02:29):
He called the shutdown pointless end quotes profoundly dumb. By
the way, beginning tomorrow, there are new eligibility rules for
SNAP thanks to President Trump's Big Beautiful Bill. Those changes
include increasing the work requirement to eighty hours a month.
Also interesting, most households are certified to get snapped for
up to twelve months. However, a lot of people, as
(02:50):
we know, have managed to stay on the program four years,
hence all the fraud.
Speaker 3 (02:56):
Five h two.
Speaker 6 (02:57):
Now on KTRH, we are just four days away from
a life and even though he's been exposed as a socialist,
election numbers gur Ryan Gurdusky tells Katrhs Klay Travis and
bugs Sexton Zorn Mamdani remains these strong favorites.
Speaker 9 (03:11):
This is going to be a gigantic turnout election, probably
the biggest elections of the nineteen ninety three mayor election.
When Rudy Giuliani won, Republicans just really got to start
picking up and they got a break for Cuomo for
him to have a chance. It still looks like I'm
undying victory. There is a small path for Cuomo.
Speaker 3 (03:27):
In other key races.
Speaker 6 (03:29):
He says Democrat Abigail Spanberger could win the Virginia governorship.
Republican Jack Chodarelli as a good chance for an upset
though in New Jersey in that governor's race. Here at home,
today is the last day of early voting, and while
it's an off year, there are still a number of
key issues on the ballot.
Speaker 10 (03:46):
There are some real important constitutional amendments, you know, Baill
reforms one, several property tax relief amendment. It's important for
people to get.
Speaker 11 (03:57):
Out and vote.
Speaker 3 (03:58):
Ariskony g p. Chaeron dcgals.
Speaker 6 (04:00):
So far, only one hundred and sixty two thousand plus
have voted early in Harris County. There are more than
two point six million registered voters in the county. Now,
one thing that was clear after twenty twenty four is
that Democrats are losing blue collar voters in Mouse.
Speaker 12 (04:17):
The shift became obvious in twenty sixteen, but it's been
a growing trend since long before then.
Speaker 13 (04:21):
I think it's sort at a lower level obviously thunder
Ronald Wrank who had an appeal to blue collar workers,
and it has grown since that time.
Speaker 12 (04:30):
Gary Polland with the Texas Conservative Review says Democrats did
this to themselves by pushing radical policy.
Speaker 13 (04:35):
Democrats continue to double down, alienating the blue collar work.
Speaker 14 (04:40):
They don't want to control the border.
Speaker 11 (04:41):
We have runaway inflation of the Democrats with five.
Speaker 12 (04:44):
He says, Democrats refuse to recognize what they're doing wrong,
and they're going to lose a lot more because of it.
Ethan Buchanan News Radio seven forty KTR eight.
Speaker 3 (04:51):
It's now five to zero four.
Speaker 6 (04:52):
The Trump administration won't back down on using the National
Guard to maintain law and order, or Secretary Pete hegsheth
the order is the formation of reaction units to respond
to violence and civil unrest. State Representative Briscoe Kaine says
Democrats have zero to complain about.
Speaker 15 (05:08):
If the big blue cities don't want our National Guard there,
all they have to do is.
Speaker 1 (05:12):
Enforce the law. All they have to do is the
res people for.
Speaker 15 (05:15):
Firebombing ICE facilities or disobeying lass.
Speaker 3 (05:17):
That simple.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
The only reason we're having to.
Speaker 15 (05:19):
Come in is because they're non unfortunate law.
Speaker 6 (05:21):
Speaking of those blue cities, Chicago is making more noises.
Illinois Governor JB. Pritzker wants Trump to pause ICE operations
for Halloween. That did not go over well with DHS
Secretary Christy Nome.
Speaker 16 (05:35):
The fact that.
Speaker 17 (05:35):
Governor Pritzker is asking for that is.
Speaker 18 (05:40):
Shameful and I think unfortunate that he doesn't recognize how
important the work is that we do to make sure
we're bringing criminals to justice and getting.
Speaker 5 (05:48):
Them off our sheets.
Speaker 6 (05:49):
In other words, request denied. Despite all of the anti
ICE attacks from the left, DHS says more than two
million illegals have.
Speaker 19 (05:57):
Gone home, but the real surprise is one point six
million of them have done so voluntarily.
Speaker 11 (06:04):
Tougher enforcement at the border and in the interior of
the country, with strong messaging about enforcing the laws, it's
most definitely causing people to leave on their own.
Speaker 19 (06:14):
That is Jessica Vaughan, Director of Policy Studies for the
Center for Immigration Studies, This.
Speaker 11 (06:20):
Is happening at a very significant scale. We will see
a very noticeable decline in the illegal population within just.
Speaker 19 (06:27):

Speaker 3 (06:35):
Now five oh six.
Speaker 6 (06:37):
It's not Christmas just yet, but for many Texans, this
weekend is pretty close. Rifle hunting season opens across the
state tomorrow.
Speaker 20 (06:45):
We have to take a certain number of deer out
of the population to make sure that the carrying capacity
of the land can take care of whatever deer left over,
to make sure they're healthy going into next year.
Speaker 6 (06:59):
Sports talks, and he's Dug Pike. There more than eight
hundred and thirty seven thousand deer were harvested across the

Speaker 3 (07:32):
All right, it is now seven minutes after five. Good
morning to you once again. Bob Frans sitting in on
a Friday morning, the thirty first and final morning of
the tenth month in the Year of Our Lord twenty
twenty five. Jimmy's got the day. It is Halloween, so
Happy Halloween to all. Obviously, you're going to get to
continue to get the messages and the reminders about making
sure you know where your kids are, making sure that
(07:53):
they're safe, making sure you're checking candy and all of
that kind of stuff. And you disturbed one of the
news stories on land Security Secretary Christy Noam, if your
trick or treating in Chicago, make sure you're legal, because
we're not shutting down ice operations just to make sure
that kids can go out and do this. If you're
legal aliens in the city of Chicago or in the
(08:15):
state of Illinois, Yeah, we're still going to be around.
And if you're somebody that we're targeting, we're coming to
get you. We don't care whether you're wearing a costume
or not. That's quite an interesting story. Vice President jd.
Vance is just about done. He has had enough of
the shutdown nonsense. We are in the thirtieth day of
(08:35):
the federal government shutdown, and as the biggest story probably
in the country right now. There are many, but among
the biggest stories in the country right now is the
fact that tomorrow's SNAP benefits in for a whole lot
of people. That's first of the month. A whole bunch
of people are expecting their EBT cards to be replenished,
you know, their food stamps provided in whatever manner that
SNAP is given in various states, and forty two million
(08:58):
Americans are apparently going to go hungry. And it's all
the Democrats fault. Sorry, not trying to be too blatantly partisan,
but it is what it is. It takes sixty votes
in the Senate to reopen the government and get all
of those things funded. The Republicans have provided fifty two
of those sixty votes. The Democrats have provided three. All
they need is five more people to say yay, we're
(09:19):
in and everything will go as according to plan and
people will get their money. The Democrats want to negotiate, however,
they'll get their food. The Democrats want to negotiate however,
because of health care, and they think they can starve
people in order to make them healthy later JD. Vance,
the Vice President has had enough.
Speaker 21 (09:38):
What we're also saying is that we're not going to
tell we're not going to allow anybody Democrat or Republican
to effectively threaten any policy demand and to place that
upon reopening the government.
Speaker 1 (09:50):
You don't reward hostage shaking.
Speaker 22 (09:52):
If Democrats want to talk about health care policy, let's
talk about healthcare policy. If they want to talk about
tax policy, let's talk about tax policy.
Speaker 1 (09:59):
They don't get to c.
Speaker 3 (10:00):
Than to hear and say you give us.
Speaker 21 (10:01):
Everything we want, or we're going to shut down the
government and not pay pilots and not pay air traffic controllers.
Speaker 22 (10:07):
It's ridiculous, disgraceful, irresponsible behavior. There have got to be
five more moderate Democrats in this entire city who are willing.
Speaker 5 (10:15):
To work with us to reopen the government.
Speaker 3 (10:16):
Ridiculous, dangerous is exactly correct by the Vice President there
and indefensible. It is something that we will not negotiate
on healthcare at the point of a gun, and that
means in this case, starving people. You're willing to starve
the people whose healthcare. You say you are worried about.
They're not worried about healthcare. They have a one point
(10:38):
five trillion dollar bill on the table that they want
the Republicans to to say, Okay, we'll pass that, even
though it violates everything we just got accomplished in the
Reconciliation bill. The one big beautiful bill was decided in Congress,
it was passed, it was voted on, and now they're saying,
two months later, let's just wipe most of that out.
Let's refund NPR, refund PBS, let's refund USAID and send
(11:04):
all of this money to foreign countries in the biggest
money laundering scheme in world history. And let's continue to
expand covid era health subsidies. It is just not sane.
And the Republicans are done, and it sounds like so
are members of the left wing media. The Washington Post
has turned on Chuck Schumer, the Democrats, and so excuse me,
(11:28):
so have members of the trade unions, some of the
largest unions in the country, who are all Democrats supporters,
are blaming the Democrats and saying, get this over with now.
We'll have more on that in a bit. Right now, though,
let's get you moving. Sixteen.
Speaker 5 (11:42):
I mention that, yeah, I've still got my candy corn.
We can still go to Bucky's. Let's go to the
hard work and East Side again. I don't know why
they keep showing this deal East Freeway at John Martin.

I don't know what they called the twilight zone. All right, Terry,
help us emerge from said zone, would you please? Yes,
no problem.
Speaker 23 (13:09):
Hey, it's a quiet stretch of weather and we've had
a nice little dose of fall around here. We're going
to continue to enjoy some fall like temperatures again today,
just sunshine, load of mid seventies, a little bit warmer,
just slightly warmer than yesterday. And then for the trigger
treaters tonight, temperatures will it depends on when you go out,
(13:30):
of course, but for the most part in the sixties,
so it's going to be fairly comfortable.
Speaker 3 (13:34):
Now. Tomorrow we do have some rain, but it's only
a thirty.
Speaker 23 (13:37):
Percent chance of those showers and thunderstorm, so not a
lot of wet weather. Temperatures tomorrow in the load of
mid seventies, and Sunday and Mondays dry Tuesday as well,
load of mid seventies Sunday and Monday, and starting to
warm up in the mid to upper seventies by Tuesday.
Speaker 3 (13:55):

Speaker 3 (14:12):
All right. President Trump is ready to make the ultimate move.
He wants to end the shutdown, and in order to
do it, he's willing to end the filibuster, the long
standing Senate rule that requires sixty votes for most major legislation,
including legislation that involves spending. The sixty vote rule is
what is holding everything up right now. It has long
(14:35):
been considered untouchable. But President Trump says, we're gonna touch it.
We need to touch it. He wants John Thune to
make this happen. Is it the right call. We're going
to talk about it more right after we check trafficking.
Whether it is now six twenty sky like, that's on you.
Speaker 5 (14:49):
We still got this ninety story.
Speaker 3 (14:51):
It's five twenty. By the way, I'm like oh.
Speaker 5 (14:52):
Oh, I'm so angry. Now, are you in a different
time zone?
Speaker 1 (14:54):
Your nine five.
Speaker 5 (14:56):
Twenty and we've got two ninety on the inbound. We're
not really nine eyed up from this, but there's a
stall truck. He's sitting there in the right lane. No
big whoop. They're just pointing at things, and we'll need
to super size ninja there if you're taking it in
the Katie Freeway fast improvement over yesterday. And in fact,
we're kind of in the calm before the first shoe
drops in the woods over here.
Speaker 3 (15:16):
We're looking at.
Speaker 5 (15:17):
Thirty one minutes from Katie Mill Small into downtown, and
that looks good into the president's heads. Let's do a
quick tip line seven two t ips.
Speaker 25 (15:26):
Hey guy, Mike, Highways six that Belford is completely shut down.
Speaker 1 (15:31):

Speaker 6 (16:32):
I won't play any music, and if I did, it
wouldn't be backstraight, that's for sure.
Speaker 3 (16:36):
There's more proof.
Speaker 6 (16:37):

Speaker 3 (17:09):
All right, it is five twenty two. So President Trump
on Truth Social late last night made the call and
this is a direct quote in all caps on the
President's account. Because of the fact that the Democrats have
gone stone cold crazy. The choice is clear. Initiate the
(17:30):
nuclear option, get rid of the filibuster, and make America
great again. And there it is. This is the They
called it a nuclear option for very very good reason.
It's it's a devastating decision going forward. It ends all
ability for the two different sides, the two different parties
in the Senate, to compromise on major legislation, especially spending legislation.
(17:53):
It makes a simple majority, gives a simple majority to
the party that is in power. And it may sound great,
your party is no longer in power if it flips
and the Democrats have the power. And if this happened
because there were calls for an end to the nuclear option,
or is an end to the filibuster by nuking using
(18:13):
that nuclear option when the Democrats had control, and the
Democrats were concerned what happens when the Republicans get back
in control, then they just need a simple majority to
pass radical spending legislation, as each side might see it
from the other. If you understand the point, So if
the House initiates a massive spending bill and it only
takes a simple majority on the Senate side to get
(18:34):
it through, it is a very very very different country.
That is not to say this is the wrong thing
to do, because I will tell you this, I firmly
believe this is what the Democrats will do if they
take back the Senate in twenty twenty six. In November
of twenty twenty six, they will initiate the nuclear option themselves.
They will initiate, they will end the filibuster, and then
(18:56):
they will have all kinds of radical bills that they
want to pass. They won't get him signed by Donald Trump,
but they will get him passed. And they will set
the table to pack courts, to expand or to eliminate
the electoral college, to add two states at Puerto Rico
and Washington, DC, and the hole nine yards. This is
(19:16):
the danger, and the President is saying it is time
to pull this lever and and see what happens. I'll
quote now from Fox President Donald Trump Thursday night, urged
Republicans to end the filibuster in order to end the
month long government government shut down. Trump noted that Democrats
had tried to eliminate the Senate procedure when they had
(19:38):
control of both chambers of Congress and the White House
during the Biden administration, but then Senators Joe Manchin and
Kirsten Cinema, both of whom have since left the Democrat
Party to become independence, blocked the effort. Trump revived talk
of the nuclear option after returning from his Asia trip
this week. Quote. The one question that kept coming up, however,
was how did the Democrat shut down the United States
(20:01):
of America and why did the powerful Republicans allow them
to do it? Trump wrote, The fact is, in flying back,
I thought a great deal about that question. Why end?
Speaker 1 (20:12):
Quote?
Speaker 3 (20:13):
The President praised John Thune and Mike Johnson for doing
a great job, but then called out the Democrats as
quote crazed lunatics. Quote. They want trillions of dollars to
be taken from our healthcare system and given to others
who are not deserving, people who have come into our
country illegally, many from prisons and mental institutions. This will
hurt American citizens and Republicans will not let it happen
(20:37):
end of quote. The President added that Republicans who hold
Congress control of Congress now and the White House should
play their quote trump card and go for the nuclear option,
get rid of the filibuster, and end it now. Many
are saying it can't be ended anyway because it takes
sixty votes to end the filibuster, which requires sixty votes.
(20:59):
That is not not necessarily true. It is my understanding
that if the Republicans bring a bill to end the
filibuster to the floor, and the Democrats file a motion
to proceed, which is filibuster, then file for cloture to
end the back and forth debate. It fails because you
need sixty votes and no side has sixty. But what
happens then is the majority Leader, John Thune, could bring
(21:22):
a point of order such as I raise the point
of order that cloture on this motion require only silent
a simple majority under the Constitution. The presiding off presiding
officer cites Senate Rule twenty two. They appeal that ruling,
then the vote has taken to overrule that rule, and
then the last vote only needs a majority fifty one votes,
(21:44):
which the Republicans have and the bill would then pass
without sixty votes. That's the trump card that Trump is
talking about when he's telling his fellow Republicans to play
the Trump card. I'm curious to know if you agree
with it. You can reach me at Bob at strictly
Speaking dot org. That's my email address, Bob at strictly
speaking dot org. I like to interact, and I know
(22:05):
we don't take calls on this show. I should say
the station and the show does not. I would like
to do it, but we can't do it. So here's
what I will do. I will read your emails. If
you've got an idea, should they nuke the filibuster and
play the Trump card? If you will email me Bob
at strictly speaking dot org. I would love to do it.
(22:26):
All right now, what I'm gonna do is we're going

this is my serious voice. Briandforested Highway six. It looks
like whatever was there has cleared, so you don't have
to take the you know what streets.
Speaker 1 (23:43):
I know we've had some signal problems.
Speaker 5 (23:44):
That's why it's got a history of the signal suckage,
and it has been it caused a big smunch yesterday.
It looks like somebody may have ran into somebody else,
but I think that's been ninjaed.
Speaker 1 (23:53):
We'll double check that at the forty break. Rest of our.
Speaker 5 (23:56):
Freeways except for two ninety right at thirty four, No, fine, Mont,
that's a stall truck. He's on the side, not bothering anybody.
I'm Skymike at your USA Rvresorts dot Com traffic.
Speaker 3 (24:06):
Center the Menudo streets. Is that what you're trying to say?
Speaker 1 (24:09):
Oh, oh, nice, nice.
Speaker 3 (24:11):
We're looking at sunshine today. Hi's in the load to
mid seventies overnight low down to about fifty four, mostly
sunny on Saturday, a slight chance of a shower, high
of seventy five. And we'll give you the extended forecast
into the next work week when we check in with
Terry at five point forty. Right now, we have fifty
five at your official severe weather station. This is Radio
seven forty k TRH. And now we've got the news.
(24:32):
Here's Cliff, Thank you, Bob.
Speaker 6 (24:33):
Good morning everyone, five point thirty one on KTRH. Our
top story this.
Speaker 27 (24:37):
Hour, the respect that President she had for President Trump
was evident in the room. The two of them have
a very solid relationship.
Speaker 6 (24:49):
Treasury Secretary Scott Besant on Fox calling yesterday's Trump meeting
with China Jesun Ping a big win. Trump arrived back
at the White House last night after his trip to Asia.
Looking at the markets right now, futures trading is mixed,
Dallas down, SMP and Nasdaq are both up this morning.
Now from Wall Street to Main Street, a new Gallup
(25:10):
poll shows that Americans plan to spend big this holiday season,
meaning that the tariff fear mongering is falling on deaf ears.
Speaker 28 (25:18):
When they're going to say things like the tariffs are
going to lead to higher prices, you know, they don't
really understand. Tariffs are based on not the retail price.
Speaker 1 (25:26):
So when you go.
Speaker 28 (25:26):
And buy a one hundred and fifty dollars pair of
sneakers and the tariff on that sneaker is now twenty percent,
that doesn't mean that the sneaker costs twenty percent more
than one hundred and fifty dollars.
Speaker 6 (25:36):
Industry analyst Kenneth Proposa says the tariff fears are based
in delusion. Gasoline prices are ticking down across Houston to
two fifty five a gallon this morning. That is thirteen
cents cheaper than one month ago. And it's also about
fifty cents less than the national average of three dollars
and four cents a gallon. But the news isn't all good,
and you might notice it this weekend. McDonald's is making
(25:59):
their customer's salty.
Speaker 29 (26:02):
The US Department of Treasury will phase out the penny
by January. In response, at various locations, McDonald's has announced
they will round up or round down on the change
for cash transactions. Convives Jonathan Horwood says this may not
sit well with a lot of patrons.
Speaker 30 (26:19):
A lot of it really comes back to customer perception
and how customers feel like they're being treated.
Speaker 29 (26:26):
He recommends rounding down for everyone. Plus, looking at annual sales, it's.
Speaker 30 (26:32):
Not going to dent their bottom line all that much.
Speaker 29 (26:35):
Horwood says, this makes it fair and alleviates people getting upset.
I'm Erica Smith News Radio seven forty kt H.
Speaker 3 (26:43):
And there's this.
Speaker 6 (26:44):
Just months after announcing that layoffs were coming due to AI.
Amazon is cutting fourteen thousand jobs. White Bart's Colin ma
Dine says, this is just the beginning.
Speaker 31 (26:54):
You're seeing the initial cuts and the initial job problems
with AI happening in the tech sector. But other companies
around the country will.
Speaker 11 (27:02):
Try to use AI to drive.
Speaker 31 (27:03):
Efficiency and make their bottom lines look better. But it
starts with Silicon.
Speaker 6 (27:07):
Valley, Microsoft in salesforce or two of the other companies
also reducing their workforce due to artificial intelligence. It's now
five point thirty four today, use day thirty one of
the Schumer shutdown, we'll have more than six closer to home.
Despite budget problems, Harris County commissioners Democrats approving a seventy
plus million dollar pay equity increase for county employees. Precinct
(27:30):
three Commissioner Tom Ramsey was the loan.
Speaker 3 (27:32):
No votes.
Speaker 32 (27:33):
It's based on made up numbers to give forty seven
million dollars in increases, and it's going to be based
on a flawed formula.
Speaker 6 (27:42):
The Democrat majority also rejected Ramsey's proposed ban on panhandling
and unincorporated parts of the county. New polling from the
University of Texas gives Governor Greg Abbotty thirty nine percent
approval rating. Apparently, it's not just Democrats that are unhappy.
Some Republicans about twenty four percent are as well.
Speaker 33 (28:04):
It's the total lie of the Democrat party. People are
dissatisfied with the Texas government. Well, you know what, I'm
dissatisfied with the Texas government because the Texas government is
too big, too liberal, too progressive.
Speaker 6 (28:14):
State Representative Brian Harrison says that if Abbott did more
to cut taxes regulations, he'd be far more popular. Meantime,
conservatives in Texas are cheering the newer rules for gay marriage.
Thanks to a ruling from the Texas Supreme Court, judges
can now turn down requests to perform same sex weddings
based on their sincerely held religious beliefs. It's a win
(28:36):
for conservative groups who now want this enshrined in state law.
Speaker 1 (28:40):
It's imperative.
Speaker 5 (28:41):
I mean, this is something that needs to be a
priority issue.
Speaker 34 (28:44):
Jonathan Sins with the group Texas Values says some judges
have stopped performing marriages because they're afraid of being sued.
The rule change could also potentially play a role in
a federal lawsuit is attempting to overturn the legalization of
gay marriage.
Speaker 3 (28:59):
Krhes.
Speaker 6 (29:00):
It's now five point thirty six as data centers expand
across the state, URCAT is evaluating just how to manage
a power grid projected to require four times the amount
that it needed just last year. Witches at Her says
the cost of upgrading should be passed on to the investor,
not the customer.
Speaker 28 (29:17):
The right way to do this is to have the
data centers make some significant down payments.
Speaker 6 (29:23):
Remember, these data centers are open twenty four to seven,
three hundred and sixty five days a year. The good
news is we gained back that hour of sleep we
lost six months ago. The bad news is you're changing
the clocks again this weekend.
Speaker 35 (29:35):
We fall back on Sunday, gaining an hour of sleep.
Some of the Texas legislature are convinced that we're close
to getting rid of what they see as an outdated practice.
Speaker 14 (29:45):
The old answer, well, this is the way we've always
done it. It doesn't sit so well with us many
of US.
Speaker 35 (29:50):
State Senator Jose Menendez says there will always be debates
about whether Texas should stay on standard time or daylight
saving time. He says that could easily be solved with
a boat if Arizona and Hawaii can do it. He
says Texas can do it too.
Speaker 3 (30:03):
KTRCH is Beth Myers.
Speaker 33 (30:04):
There.
Speaker 6 (30:05):
College football this weekend, UT is at Manderbilt a ten
o'clock on Sports Talk seven ninety UH host West Virginia.
Coverage at ten on nine point fifty KPRC. The Aggies
are off. I'm Cliff Saunders on Houston's news, weather and
traffic station News Radio seven forty KGRH.
Speaker 1 (30:22):
I live in sugar Land.
Speaker 24 (30:23):
Be prepared for wild Houston weather next on the ten
on seven forty KTRH.
Speaker 3 (30:30):
All right, five thirty seven, So tomorrow is the day.
It's November first, and EBT cards are supposed to be replenished.
The SNAP program is supposed to snap into action and
people are supposed to get the assistance that they need,
the Supplemental Nutrition program and there is a name money
(30:51):
for it left why because the government is closed. So
a lot of people on both sides of the political aisle.
And by the way, good morning, I'm Pop France and
for Jimmy, if you just turned on the radio, A
lot of people on both sides of the aisle are
panicking over people going hungry, and with good reason. Those
who are on the SNAP program, who are actually needy
(31:11):
and who are going to go hungry. The problem is
more and more people are starting to look at the
program itself and finding fraud, massive, massive amounts of fraud.
It is the number one problem with the program. The
scores of people, millions of people who are on it
who have no business being on it. Some of this
(31:34):
is evidenced by the individuals themselves because they are making videos.
There is a website now or not a website. TikTok
is the website or the app, but there is an
account on the TikTok app called ebt of TikTok And
if you want to, I don't know, entertain yourself while
also getting infuriated at the same time, watch some of
(31:56):
the individuals on the app filming the videos about their
plans to rob stores to steal the food that they
are not going to have paid for them by the
government because they are not going to go hungry and
their kids are not going to go hungry. And if
you're wondering why that would be infuriating, well, first of all,
they're promising on camera to commit theft crimes. And number two,
(32:21):
these people are making these claims that they can't eat
unless the snap program is funded this month, and they're
they're filming themselves on thousand dollars iPhones. They're wearing hundreds
of dollars worth of hairdoos and nails. We're talking about
professionally done nails. You've got to see them. You got
to see them. You know exactly what I'm talking about.
(32:42):
And while I'm not an expert on what's a really
expensive hairdo and what isn't and what nails and manicures
and diamonds in the ears and all kinds of other
jewelry that's available, they're filming these things usually in their cars.
So these are people that apparently have enough money for
all of those things, which is not SNAP eligible, but
don't have enough money to buy their own food. It's
(33:04):
ticking off a lot of people. I suggest taking a
look at it yourself again. It's called ebt of TikTok.
See for yourself. And those are just the anecdotal ones.
The rest of it is statistical, and I've got a
bunch of those statistics and I'm gonna want to share
with you as we continue. Just the news. John Solomon's
site has a ton of the stats about SNAP, the
(33:25):
SNAP program being rife with fraud, disparity, and issues that
need to be addressed before people can get two up
in arms about whether or not that program should be
funded fully at this point in time. So we'll dig
into all of that as we continue, after we do trafficking.
Whether it's five forty sky Mike dude dancing to uh
in sync?
Speaker 5 (33:43):
I okay, I know that's not in sync, Bob. You
don't know Backstreet Boys. That is un American dude. All right,
let's go to Highway six.
Speaker 3 (33:50):
And they were all the same. All of the boy
bands were all the same, only different. I could not
tell you one song from another song.
Speaker 5 (33:57):
The highway things prior Forrest. You got to send him
right in the minitary. I'll have a sixth briar Forrest.
I'm going to clear this here. I don't even see
the problems through the the smaller streets in the area.
I don't want to get us started again, but Highway
six is actually moving here. I'm just going to keep
an eye on those signals there, and we're super easy.
(34:17):
I'll give you a tip line number in just a second.
Let's check Katie Freeway. Katie Freeway looks good. Memorial City,
Let's go back further all the way to BUCkies in Brookshire,
and we're in good shape here. All the way to
the President's Heads West Park to always going on the inbound,
we look good all the way to the Southwest Freeway,
Southwest Freeway, Brasles River.
Speaker 1 (34:36):
Nothing scary here and we're.
Speaker 4 (34:39):
Looking at two ninety.
Speaker 1 (34:40):
Yep.
Speaker 5 (34:40):
If you had a grand march at your wedding, you're
walking on into the west Loop sixteen. We're super easy
to find. You get us at seven one three two.
Speaker 1 (34:48):
One two tips.
Speaker 25 (34:51):
Stage guy, Mike, Highways six check Elford is completely shut down.
Speaker 5 (34:56):
That's the wrong guy. That's the wrong guy. That's a
that's an echo. Just try this again, boy, I'm having glitches.
Speaker 33 (35:02):
Go hey, coon, Mike, Brian Blake, Shady Latch sixty nine
Northbown between I ten and six ten.
Speaker 36 (35:09):
Or do you have five or six vehicles.
Speaker 8 (35:11):
On both shoulders or plat.
Speaker 32 (35:12):
Tire something in the roadway?
Speaker 5 (35:14):
Ah boy, we've got road to breathe. There could be scarier.
You could walk around over there. I'm Skymike at a
Generator Supercenter dot Com traffic center.
Speaker 3 (35:22):
All right, Terry Smith, that the Weather Channel has our
forecast for us.
Speaker 23 (35:25):
Hey, Terry, Hey, good morning, Busy weekend for a lot
of folks, starting off with all the Halloween festivities. Today,
good looking day with the sunshine and temperatures a little
bit warmer than yesterday. Nice little dose of fall lotle
mid seventies this afternoon. Temperatures will be quite comfortable when
(35:45):
the kids are out trick or treating tonight, though we'll
wind up with lows by late tonight early Tomorrow morning
in the upper forties, upper fifty so nice dose of
cool weather tomorrow, a little bit of rain of thirty
percent ants of some showers or a rumble of thunder.
Another cold front swinging through. Load of mid seventies tomorrow.
(36:06):
Now keep in mind tomorrow night, it's time to set
your clocks back.
Speaker 3 (36:09):
We fall back Saturday night.
Speaker 23 (36:12):
We wake up Sunday to another gorgeous day, another comfortable day,
load of mid seventies, the temperatures starting to get a
little warmer early next week.
Speaker 3 (36:21):
All right, Terry, thank you, and right now we have
fifty five degrees at your official severe weather station, News
Radio seven forty k TRH.
Speaker 1 (36:29):
I live in the Woodlands. Your best ways are round Houston.
Speaker 24 (36:33):
Next on the ten on seven KTRH.
Speaker 3 (36:38):
Okay it is five forty nine. Good morning to you
once again. Happy Halloween as well. I'm Bob France, sitting
in for Jimmy. Jimmy's got the day and the long
weekend and we're going to carry you through the morning
here and coming up in a couple after we do
trafficking weather again, we're going to talk a little bit
more about the fraud. The numbers are extraordinary as people
are worried, and rightfully so. Again, this is a difficulty.
There are some people who are absolutely inn of and
(37:00):
deserving of assistance through the SNAP program who are not
going to get their money tomorrow at the first of
the month because of the government shutdown. But there is
so much fraud in the system that a whole lot
of people are not terribly worried about the payments not
going through because the whole thing needs to be overhauled.
It's a legitimate question, and we're going to try to
tackle some of it after we do traffic in Weather
(37:22):
now on five fifty and Scott, Mike, it's.
Speaker 1 (37:24):
My fault, we're not on the clock. I'll fix that
all right.
Speaker 5 (37:27):
East texts coming out of downtown I sixty nine northbound.
Speaker 1 (37:31):
We've got road debris.
Speaker 5 (37:32):
Somebody's getting flat tires, so watch out northbound, watch out
for other stations. Listeners leaving downtown northbound up to six ten,
A few spots here and there, and I will let
the spooky ladies on TV know about it.
Speaker 4 (37:44):
I'm in the USA Rbresorts dot Com traffic center.
Speaker 3 (37:47):
All right, thanks sir, And here's what we got weatherwise.
It looks like it's going to be sunny today with
temperatures in the load of mid seventies overnight low down
to about fifty four. Mostly sunny Saturday, with a slight
chance of a shower. I have seventy five, mostly sunny
on Sunday as well, about seventy four and warming into
the next work week with sunny's guy's upper seventies pushing
(38:08):
up near eighty by Tuesday. And right now fifty five
at your official severe weather station. News Radio seven forty
KTRH laps. Time for the headlines. Here's Cliff, Thank you, Bob.
Speaker 6 (38:18):
President Trump wants to kill the Filipbuster, an attempt ending
out thirty one day old government shutdown. The heavy police
presence in Baytown yesterday apparently was due to a self
inflicted gunshot when the man is hospitalized in unknown condition,
and LSU athletic director Scott Woodward he is out after
criticism from the Governor Jeff Landry over the hiring and
(38:41):
then firing of Brian Kelly. At the latest News anytime
at KTRH dot com. Our next update is at six o'clock.
Speaker 1 (38:48):
What has happened just yesterday?
Speaker 30 (38:51):
What's happening today?
Speaker 3 (38:52):
Happen like kail, what happens ex So the things are
happening right here.
Speaker 1 (38:57):
On news Radio seven KTRH.
Speaker 3 (39:00):
Okay. So snap benefits on top of mind for a
lot of people, especially those who rely on supplemental nutrition,
and roughly forty two million Americans do. And there's a
legitimate question as to which is more upsetting, the fact
that these people won't get their money or that forty
two million people are dependent on the government to feed them.
(39:21):
It's a crazy number, it really really is. And the
reality is it's probably way too high of a number
because of the fraud. And this is the report that
was just done. A Pew research study found in twenty
twenty three that in fiscal year twenty twenty one, approximately
forty one point five million. We're going to round it
to forty two million people, or about twelve point five
percent of the population, participated in SNAP. About thirty six
(39:46):
percent of SNAP household households lived below the poverty line
in twenty twenty one. So these are people who obviously
need it. Nobody is talking about them. Everybody thinks they
need to get their money. But there's a difference here.
There are a whole lot of peaceeople on the program
who don't need it. In fiscal year twenty twenty three,
so this is while Joe Biden was still running the government. Well,
(40:08):
the Yaulapen and some other people. We don't know we're
running the government anyway. A US Department of Agriculture, The
US Department of Agriculture estimated that eleven point seven percent
of SNAP benefits, amounting to about ten and a half
billion dollars, were paid out improperly, with fraud contributing to
most of those losses through recipient and retailer violations. The
(40:32):
violations are myriad. There's so many different ways to take
an EBT card and turn it into cash and then
use it to buy things that aren't food and supplemental nutrition.
People are taking two hundred and fifty dollars EBT cards
and giving it to clerks at a grocery store who
are giving them two hundred dollars in cash back. Then
the store gets to two fifty. Talking about the small stores,
(40:53):
the store gets to two fifty and the recipient gets
two hundred in cash and they don't have to buy
it on, spend it on food, spend it on electronics,
spending at the liquor store. They can spend whatever they want.
Spending on illegal drugs doesn't matter. The fraud is myriad.
Every dollar of snap benefits lost to fraud, according to
(41:14):
the report, generates an additional three dollars and seventy two
cents in costs for agencies, primarily from identity fraud, account takeovers,
eligibility misrepresentation, and EBT card trafficking. In the first quarter
of last year twenty twenty four alone, nearly one hundred
and seventy seven thousand fraud incidents were reported across forty
(41:36):
six states, with New York experiencing over sixteen thousand of those,
often involving EBT card skimming and cloning. Despite a three
hundred and fifty percent increase in federal spending on retailer
integrating and anti trafficking efforts. From twenty twelve through twenty
twenty three, SNAP over payment errors surged by over ten
(41:57):
percent in the most recent number most year that was tracked,
which is twenty twenty three. SNAP is a federal program,
but administration of it falls to the states, even down
to the local level, handling tasks such as determining eligibility,
issuing benefits to EBT cards, processing applications, conducting quality control reviews,
(42:20):
et cetera, and many states do allows ey job of it.
The federal government sets the core rules, they set the
benefit levels, but the states have flexibility in certain administrative
procedures and may cover part of the administrative costs, sometimes
shared fifty to fifty with the federal government. But the
shared structure means that while fraud prevention policies are federally guided,
(42:42):
states are responsible for detecting, investigating, and addressing recipient and
retailer fraud within their jurisdictions. And guess what, many of
the states not coincidentally, the biggest blue states where the
majority of aid is given out. Talking about the New
York and the California and the Illinois and some of
(43:02):
these states with the biggest cities Georgia with Atlanta, where
the most money is given out. They are very, very
relax because they don't want to tick anybody off by saying, nope,
you're cut off, you're cut off, You're cut off, So
fraud goes undetected and unmitigated. Several states last point here,
Several states have successfully obtained USDA waivers to restrict the
(43:26):
use of SNAB benefits for purchasing things like sugary drinks
and candy. Nebraska was the first one, banning sodas and
energy energy drinks and other things that are not healthy
in the first place. But all this does is add
to the confusion that allows, sadly, more fraud to go on,
and also the fact that there's no longer a social
stigma about being on welfare. People used to be embarrassed
(43:48):
to say they're on welfare of food stamps, and now
they make videos of themselves saying, you're not taking away
my food stamps or my welfare. You're not taking away
my ebt. I'll rob the stores if you do that.
That's a problem as well. Five pin fifty six. Now,
this is Houston's morning news on news radio seven forty
k tr H.
Speaker 1 (44:09):
This is US Radio seven forty kt RH Houston.
Speaker 2 (44:13):

one's in the right lane. We've got something eerie in
the freeway. I think it's just roadcraf debris. Two ninety
in bound. Is that a stall?
Speaker 11 (44:58):
Still?
Speaker 5 (44:58):
We're calling that a STALLI right line. Mike from Magnolia,

Speaker 25 (45:13):
Get a paycheck, all right.

Mike from Magnolia's Got Gumption. I'm in the Generator Supercenter

low to mid seventies overnight tonight, gotta drop down to
about fifty four, mostly sunny on Saturday, with a slight
chance of a shower Hive about seventy five. And we'll
give you a look at the extended forecast with Terry
when we check in at seven ten. And right now
we have fifty five degrees at your official severe weather station,
News Radio seven forty KTRH. And that was time for
(45:41):
the news. Good morning Cliff, Good morning Bob. We're sponsored
by All Star Construction. Our top story this hour.
Speaker 32 (45:47):
If they continue to say, listen, this is all about politics,
we don't care about the American people.
Speaker 3 (45:51):
We're not going to pass anything.
Speaker 1 (45:52):
We're gonna have to bust to filibuster.
Speaker 6 (45:54):
Alabama Senator Tommy Tubberville earlier this week, guess who was
listening to that President Trump because he called for Republicans
to kill the follow Bilster, which would mean it would
take just fifty one votes in the Senate and not
sixty to reopen the government. After the thirty one day shutdown.
So how much has this month cost the American people?
Way more than you realize.
Speaker 35 (46:15):
It's eight point eight billion dollars that we have spent
for absolutely nothing.
Speaker 3 (46:20):
Iowa Senator Joni Ernst with Breitbart.
Speaker 6 (46:23):
Democrats are trying to make it sound though, like Republicans
are starving children with SNAP benefits ending tomorrow.
Speaker 16 (46:29):
They are enjoying the pain that they're imposing on the
American people.
Speaker 6 (46:33):
Marilynd Senator Chris van Holland on MSNBC no mention of
his trip to El Salvador and having Margarita's with kilmar
Abrego Garcia. Now we've told you about all the fraud
connected to SNAP several times this week. Well, thanks to
the big beautiful bill beginning tomorrow, there are some new rules.
They include increasing the work requirement to eighty hours a month.
(46:55):
By the way, most households are only certified to get
snapped for up to twelve months. But we all know
that many people have managed to stay on this program
for years and years and years. It's now six' oh.
Three we've got election day coming up On. Tuesday the

Jack chittarelli closing the gap On Democrat Mikey.
Speaker 15 (47:17):

Back it's gonna.
Speaker 13 (47:38):
Tay republicans get over sixty seats to THE Us. Senate

a Conservative republican a twenty eight and in thirty two after,
that they might finally throw the town and, say you know,
what there's day.
Speaker 6 (47:51):
Working chittarelli with Rather gary polland with The Texas Conservative

policies that aren't popular with blue collar. Workers early voting

me to make light of, that it's just the. Reality
The democrats continue to hold the government. Hostage they continue
to here's what's. Funny the argument that they're making in
keeping The schumer shutdown shutdown. Going the argument that they're
making is is that we're trying to protect healthcare for,
people to keep healthcare premiums low by expanding And i'm
(52:01):
sorry extended extending the Expanded Biden American Rescue Plan obamacare,
subsidies and so we're worried about the healthcare of, people
particularly you, know, children and to prove how much we
care about the healthcare of, children we're going to starve.
Them we're not going to open the government and make
sure that they get their benefits. Tomorrow. Anyway as they
(52:24):
continue to hold fast to, this The trump administration is

of The. Democrats here's part of what he said on

Speaker 27 (53:15):

him in the. Polls we cannot seem to beat.
Speaker 5 (53:41):
Him.
Speaker 3 (53:41):
Period so here's what we're gonna. Do we're gonna shut
down his, government and we're Gonna we're gonna hope that
the pain that has caused is going to be reflected
in the pulling of the. President and then when the
president's popularity, sinks then maybe he'll shift a little bit
on some of his policies and we'll be able to
gain some more traction and work our way toward getting
power back In november of twenty twenty six in the midterm.
(54:02):
Elections this is all. Strategized this is. Political they don't
give a rip about, healthcare they don't give a rip

Ten all, right it is six. Nineteen so there's been
quite a bit of a shakeup in The department Of
Homeland security as a little battle kind of started a
few days, ago or at least it became reported a
few days. Ago between borders Are Tom, homan who is
leading The Deportation Task, force And department Of Homeland Security
Secretary christy Nom, Basically homan and, crew including THE Ice,
(56:59):
director want to continue the targeted enforcement of the worst,
first meaning the criminal illegal aliens that they have been
targeting and those who have been given final orders of,
deportation Whereas secretary Of noman others IN dhs want to
widen the net and they want to go and round up,
everybody regardless of whether they're on the criminal list or.
Not what we do know is that they want to
(57:22):
increase and grow the number of deportations to match the
promise that was made by The, president which is the
largest deportation In american. History some believe IN dhs it's
not going fast, enough but the numbers are very, encouraging
and we're going to talk about those, numbers with over
two million illegals having gone home this year With Jessica

Ktrh all, Right the good news IS dhs says that
over two million people who were in The United states
illegally have gone one way or the other back home
and repatriated to their countries of, origin some of them
because of the efforts OF, ice some of them taking
advantage of the program offered BY, dhs which pays them
to leave one thousand dollars a plane ticket and a
(59:51):
possibility of coming. Back in all, TOLD dhs says two
over two million people are now. Gone joining us to
analyze Is Jessica, vaughan director Of Policy studies AT, cis
The center For Immigration. Studies good, Morning.
Speaker 1 (01:00:03):
Jessica good.
Speaker 3 (01:00:05):
Morning so we are hearing that the numbers are not big.
Enough in, FACT Dhs Secretary nolme wants to expand the
net a little, bit and there's some conflict WITH ice
on that. Effort but yet two million are. Gone how
are we supposed to view?
Speaker 11 (01:00:20):
This, well you, know considering that the target population of
people who are here legally is probably about fifteen million.
People it's true that you, know that's a big job
and it's going to take some, time but you, know
it didn't happen, overnight so it's not going to be cured.
Overnight AND i think that it's very impressive WHAT ice
(01:00:45):
has been able to do thus far With they say
that about five hundred thousand people have been arrested and forcibly,
removed and more than one point six million people have
left the country on their. Own and we have ever
seen those kind of numbers in a in our, history
(01:01:05):
as long as people have been keeping track of, that
and that's really really, impressive and this is something that
they can sustain now that they have received funding From
congress through the appropriations bill that passed earlier this, summer
The Big Beautiful, bill and so you, KNOW i think
that they will be able to maintain this. Pace what's really,
(01:01:28):
impressive and this is huge for taxpayers and for communities
that have been suffering under the disaster that came with
the four years of open. Borders and you know it
may you can understand this conflict that you alluded to
between the leadership AT Dhs Secretary nome and The White
(01:01:48):
house AND ice the sort Of Tom homan branch of.
This there are well over a million illegal aliens who
have criminal, history who are causing problems in their, communities
who are, violent who are committing. Crimes you can understand
why they would want to target them, first and that
(01:02:09):
makes a lot of. Sense and we know now despite
being told for a long time that self deportation with
a fantasy and a, myth we know now that that
is exactly what happens when there is muscular enforcement and
messaging that illegal immigration is not going to be, tolerated
(01:02:30):
and when people are not getting benefits like free, housing,
healthcare and so. On if they're here, illegally that people
will start to go home on their. Own there are
three times as many people who've gone home on their
own as who have been. Arrested and if we keep
that up for a few, years then you, know we're
going to see a restoration of integrity in our immigration
(01:02:54):
system THAT i think is necessary for people to support
the legal, immigration probably at a reduced, number but that's
what people seem to. Want so you, KNOW i think
that the home infaction is probably right in saying, that you,
know they need to be targeting on the criminals because
(01:03:14):
there still are so many of them that are In american,
communities primarily because of sanctuary policies that prevent ice from
getting custody of. Them and then you, know the numbers
sort of take care of themselves once people get the
message that they can't get away with being here.
Speaker 3 (01:03:32):
Illegally, jessica one quick follow. Up we don't have a
ton of time, here but since you brought up legal,
immigrants you're right about the number being. Reduced Vice President
van spoke At Turning points event In mississippi a couple
of nights ago and he was asked about, that and he, said,
look just because there are some good people here who
came here legally and did things the right, way doesn't
mean we can import a number of you, know a
(01:03:55):
limitless number of. Them we have to be smart because
of the illegal immigration during The bible. Years we have
to lower the number of legal immigrants simply because we
cannot support everyone, here especially when they drive wages. Down
do you have any idea what kind of numbers we're
looking at for legal?
Speaker 11 (01:04:10):
Immigration, well if you got rid of chain migration for
extended family members and visa lottery program which really you,
know provide it just sort of like gratuitous immigration for no,
purpose and cut down on asylum seekers and refugee, programs
(01:04:35):
we could probably get down to seven hundred thousand a,
year which is still very, generous and if we avoid.
Amnesties amnesties are one thing that drives chain migration and
illegal immigration and is very costly To. Americans and the
other category that is costly is allowing people to bring
(01:04:57):
in their. Parents you, know numbers should come down as,
well because that has been abused by people you know coming,
over and you know it's just you, know when you
have people who have not contributed to our social security
system and you, know disability system that's going to be
costly because they're going to be making claims on that
(01:05:18):
as elderly. Immigrants so those are the areas that have
been shown to be you, know that we should cut back,
on and that would allow us also to expand migration
of skilled people that employers are asking to, hire who
will be self sufficient and benefit the.
Speaker 3 (01:05:35):

FORECAST I, Terry, hey good.
Speaker 23 (01:17:30):
Morning, Well mother nature certainly is treating us very kindly
this weekend because we have very little rain and the
temperatures are acting like It's, october which is really a
nice change of, pace less heat less. Humidity, today temperatures
will top out in the low to mid, seventies just
slightly warmer than, yesterday and if the kids are heading
(01:17:51):
out this, evening temperatures generally will be in the sixties
during the first part of the evening. Hours it gets
obviously even cooler late, tonight but then tomorrow's looking. Good
we do have some rain though it's a week cold,
front a thirty percent chance, showers mainly perhaps a rumble of.
Thunder temperatures are still, comfortable though low to mid. Seventies
(01:18:13):
we're Dry, Sunday, monday And, tuesday and warm up gets
underway early next, week so that By, tuesday temperatures will
be close to eighty.
Speaker 3 (01:18:21):

KTRH i live in Clear, Lake, humble RELIABLE ktrh traffic and.
Speaker 1 (01:18:34):
Weather next on the.
Speaker 3 (01:18:36):
Ten okay it is six forty. Eight you, know if
you're listening to us on the drive this, morning don't
get too comfortable with that because there is a chance
that they're going to REMOVE am radios from. Cars really
interesting peace in Town hall this. Week for, generations the
car radio has been the great, equalizer, free local and
(01:18:56):
open to all that delivers, news weather, alerts community updates,
intantly no subscription or data plan. Required but as vehicles
become software platforms and they, are automakers are rewriting the.
Rules they're no longer just selling. Cars they're building digital.
Ecosystems by REMOVING amfm radio and blocking third party apps
(01:19:17):
Like CarPlay And Android, Auto they're funneling drivers into closed
environments where they alone decide what content is. Available this
isn't about, Innovation it's about revenue and, control and when
that control extends to the, dashboard where eighty four percent
Of americans still listen to broadcast radio each, week the
stakes go far beyond consumer. Choice THE Am radio For
(01:19:40):
Every Vehicle, act which IS hr thirty four to thirteen
And Senate bill sixteen sixty, nine would require automakers to
INCLUDE am radio in all new vehicles at no extra,
cost no matter what they plan to do with their other.
Tech with support from more than three hundred and Fifteen
house members and sixty One, senators it looks like it's
one of the most bipartisan efforts In washington, Today so
(01:20:01):
it should go. Through but until it, does you kind
of have to assume it doesn't message. Being if you
like listening to what you're listening to right, now you
might want to let your member Of congress, know let
your representative know so that they don't go YANKING am
radio out of, cars because there is a move again
in some places to make that. Happen, okay six to,
(01:20:23):
fifteen let's do traffickod weather. Again that's.
Speaker 5 (01:20:24):

okay since we were joking around about communists AND i Mentioned
(01:24:15):
mamdani the the presumptive mayor In New, york AND i
think he is going to. Win AND i think it's
just a devastatingly dangerous thing because he's a socialist whose
goal is to be a. Communist how do we know,
That Vladimir Vladimir lenin told us that one of the
ogs of communism told us that the goal of socialism
is always. Communism but at any, rate there's another socialist And.
(01:24:39):
Islamist mamdami is also An, islamist which is very very.
Important that's different than just plain Old muslim And islamist
is a believer in Political islam Uh and that's a dangerous.
Thing but there's another one. Too did you see what
happened In? Minneapolis The Democratic State senator There Omar, fatte
who Is somalian by, birth wants to be the mayor Of,
(01:25:01):
minneapolis one of our largest, cities wants to be the.
Mayor there's a Massive somalian population there in large part
because of people Like Jihat Omar i'm, Sorry Ilhan omar
And omar Fat. As he is among the candidates for
mayor currently held spot currently held By Democrat Jacob. Frye
(01:25:21):
decided that the best way to win Over american voters
In minnesota for his mayoral campaign is to wave the
flag Of. Somalia he was waving A somalian flag yesterday
while addressing supporters in Non english In somali at this
campaign yesterday ahead of The november fourth ranked choice election
(01:25:42):
that they have up there against incumbent Mayor jacob Fry
he's been endorsed BY. Omar his platform focuses on some
of the same socialist type stuff that you're hearing From Mom,
dani and he is considered to be a legitimate threat
To Jacob frye, again the Incumbent democrat mayor. There so
it'll be really interesting to see if the people In
(01:26:03):
minneapolis actually support foreigners waving foreign flags in An american electoral.

Speaker 3 (01:35:08):

O'clock Good friday morning to, You Happy. Halloween I'm Bob
frand sitting in For. Jimmy hoping you are off to
a great start today and hopefully you have a nice
holiday tonight and weekend to. Come if you're counting on
going grocery shopping tomorrow with YOUR ebt card or your
(01:35:30):
food stamp or whatever supplemental assistance that you might, Get,
yeah bad. News The senate is going to be out
for the rest of the. Weekend according to multiple, reports
they're going to take the. Weekend they've already had thirteen
votes thirteen. Times The democrat party in The senate has
refused to get the total to sixty so that they
(01:35:53):
can open up the government and fund all of these,
things including THE snap program that forty two Million americans
apparently rely. Upon that's a that's a loose, term by the,
way rely because of the amount of. Fraud AND i
understand That jimmy has covered a lot of this through
the week And cliff as well through the, week and
we talked about it this morning given all of the.
FRAUD i don't know if, FRAUD i don't know if
(01:36:13):
forty two million people actually rely on those food, stamps
but they get, them and there is a certain percentage
of those forty two million who do rely on, it
and they're not going to be. There but thirteen times
they've had a chance to vote for, it and thirteen
times they have voted against reopening the, government and so
they're not going to have another vote, today tomorrow Or.
Sunday and tomorrow was the first of the, month so
(01:36:35):
that's when THE snap program is supposed to replenish all
of those, well and it's not just THE snap, program
AS i had mentioned earlier this, morning it's a federally funded,
program but it is up to the states to implement
the funding to the. People so if you're counting on
that for, tomorrow bad. News the money is out and
(01:36:55):
they're not going to be having a. Vote so will
this put more pressure on The Democrat party to provide
some support for? This remember there is a poll AND
i saw a poll this morning, too which really shocked
me BECAUSE i had been seeing multiple polls FROM cnn
and in other places that show correctly that The schumer
shutdown is A schumer shutdown and that The democrats are
(01:37:17):
paying a very heavy political price for refusing to open the.
Government but this morning IN abc News Washington post poll
flips that on its head and shows a significant majority
Blaming President trump and The republicans for the government not being,
opened even though it is The republicans who passed the
clean cr with no, gimmes no no add, ons no poison,
(01:37:40):
pills just a CLEAN. Cr they passed it in The
house and provided fifty two of the needed sixty votes
to pass it in The. Senate democrats rejected it in
The house and have only provided three votes in The.
Senate and, yet, somehow some, WAY Abc news in The
Washington post want you to think that It's trump's fault
and The republican's. Fault which is also very interesting because
(01:38:03):
just yesterday The Washington post shocked people when their editorial
board came out against The Democrat party and this, shutdown
saying they need to do what has to be done
here to reopen the. Government so it's really really all
over the. Place but the bottom line is there's not
going to be a vote Before. Monday the way things
are looking right, now so you better buckle. Up seven to. Ten,
(01:38:25):
now let's do traffic and weather speak at a buffle

out that. Candy because they have done some excellent meme
work With Chuck schumer and Hawking jefferies walking by getting
trick or treats from them and instead getting sombreros and fake,
(01:43:43):
mustaches which is just the meme of the. Season it is,
phenomenal very very good stuff. There all, right back to
more serious issues. Now as, Mentioned Governor Greg gabbott has
a thirty nine percent job approval rating according to the
latest ut pole and that's actually on a point from
the last one that they did In. August the question
is Why Brian harrison is A texas state. Representative good, Morning,
(01:44:06):
brian how are you?
Speaker 14 (01:44:07):
There, hey good.
Speaker 33 (01:44:09):
Morning always great to do with.
Speaker 3 (01:44:10):
You guys down a. Kph, well we certainly appreciate the
opportunity to chat with. You so what do you make to.
This we know it's a very very divided political time right,
now and virtually Every Democratic democrat is going to go
against Every republican and maybe vice. Versa but you, Know
texas Is. Texas why Is Governor abbott down there?
Speaker 33 (01:44:28):
Underwater, well you, know, SO i don't know the specifics
of the, poll BUT i do understand that it's not.
Good historic lows for Our republican governor and as a
state that re Elected President trump and a fourteen point,
landslide who voted for Bold republican, leadership and who deserves
Bold republican. Leadership i'm going to tell you what's not causing.
(01:44:49):
It his poll numbers are not low because we're not liberal,
enough and we're not you, know pushing Enough democrat policies
because quite, Frankly democrat policies are sale through The texas.
Legislature and here here's just to take it back to.
Speaker 14 (01:45:03):
Basics.
Speaker 33 (01:45:04):
Texas i'm a Proud. Texian love this. Date we've got
a reputation for leading and freedom and individual liberty and
small government and low taxes and low. Regulations but that's
just a. Myth and we have for far too many
years just been coasting on our conservative. Reputation i'm doing
EVERYTHING i can to help us live up to. It
But i'll tell you, what if the governor would do
(01:45:25):
just a handful of. THINGS i got some suggestions for the,
governor if they're listening right, now do the kinds of
things That i've been asking you to. Do i've written
letter after letter to the. Governor let's do some of
the big things that matter To. Texans let's put our
state on a path to eliminate property. TAXES i, mean
because never ending property, taxes they're, unethical they're. Immoral you
can never own your home in the state Of.
Speaker 14 (01:45:48):
Texas that's.
Speaker 33 (01:45:49):
Ridiculous so we should do big. Things cut property taxes
in half a day and put us on a path
to get rid of all property taxes within a few.
Years that's something we could absolutely. Do let's stop Weaponizing
texans tax pay your money against them and against their
values and against. Children we should cut all funding to
any state agencies in the universities that are still DOING
(01:46:10):
dei and transgender and. DOCTUNATION i, mean very Few texans,
approved maybe almost, none just about of.
Speaker 14 (01:46:17):
Their tax dollars.
Speaker 33 (01:46:19):
Being spent to indoctrinate the next generation and transgender and
doctrination where we're sending billions of dollars to Liberal. Hollywood
cut that madness, off send it back To. Texans Let
texas truly be, free get us rid of property Tax
i'll tell you, what if he did those kinds of
things and cut, spending his approval numbers wouldn't be in the,
(01:46:39):
tank and he'd be the most popular, governor and not Just.
Republican he probably the most popular governor of all the
fifty states And.
Speaker 14 (01:46:45):
Texans.
Speaker 33 (01:46:46):
UH i just Want texas to be the number one
state for liberty and we're far from.
Speaker 11 (01:46:49):
It and look at look At.
Speaker 33 (01:46:50):
Florida florida used to be a para with purple.
Speaker 14 (01:46:54):
State it was always a swing.
Speaker 33 (01:46:56):
State you, know in the presidential, elections who's gonna who's
gonna win The White? House all atend On. Florida but not.
Anymore florida solidly in the red. Column And i'll tell
you why that's happening because of, bold Real republican leadership
in quite, frankly we just haven't had that from the
elected leadership in the state Of texas for far too many.
Speaker 3 (01:47:13):
Years, well you beat me to, It Representative, harrison BECAUSE
i was going to bring Up Rondo, santis who is
probably the best and most popular, governor and he is
also for ending property. Taxes he's one of the ones
who's saying it is ridiculous to think that people who
have paid their mortgages off have to then lease their
homes from the government or else be kicked out if
you don't make the. Payments but the question he and
several other states a handful of them, anyway that are
(01:47:35):
talking about eliminating property. Taxes the question is how do
you replace the revenue generated by? It any idea In?
Speaker 33 (01:47:41):
Texas, well, ABSOLUTELY i mean there's two pieces to that.
Question and number, one you can't really cut Tex and
this is why The texas The Liberal austin you know
party is never willing to cut taxes because you know
what they're never willing to, do which you really do
have to. Do they're not willing to cut. Spending The texas.
Budget only we not cutting. Spending you, Know i'm.
Speaker 14 (01:48:02):
Old i'm not that, Old.
Speaker 33 (01:48:02):
I'm forty, three But i'm old enough to remember When
Texas republicans wanted to cut spending and cut, taxes and they.
Speaker 14 (01:48:09):
Know they go handing love and The texas.
Speaker 33 (01:48:10):
Legislature not only are we not cutting, spending this latest
liberal train wreck of a budget exploded state. Spending get,
this a staggering forty two percent from just two budget cycles.
Ago so number, one we got to cut spending and
that's super. EASY i filed legislation to cut ninety nine
zero ninety billion dollars worth of leftist, woke wasteful nonsense
(01:48:35):
in the budget that could have cut people's property taxes
almost in half immediately and would have cost nobody any
additional revenue just from cutting the waste and the leftist
nonsense in our. Government so that's number. One cut spending
make us actually a small government. State and if for
whatever you do have to make, up we could easily
tweak our consumption tax laws broaden the. BASE i don't
(01:48:59):
even think the same sales tax rate would have to
go up very. Much and think about what would happen to.
Prices two people, say, well sales tax go, up maybe
prices go. UP i don't even think, so because one
of the biggest drivers of price inflation the costs that
every small business brick and mortar mod pop store shop In.
Texas one of their biggest costs is the crushing sales
(01:49:19):
tax bill that the government and post forces on them
that they don't have a choice but to pass through
to the customers or to their renters or. Whatever so
this is absolutely, doable and by the, way it's not even.
Theoretical over at least Three texas cities have, already even
without changes to our, laws gotten rid of property taxes
(01:49:40):
on their. Own the bottom line is the state Of
texas could eliminate property. Taxes we could for sure cut
them almost in.
Speaker 11 (01:49:47):
Half well, IMMEDIATELY.
Speaker 3 (01:49:51):
I apologize for cutting, off But i'm out of time.
Here BUT i Hope Governor rabbit is listening to these
kind of common sense ideas and maybe those pull numbers
will be going in the other. Direction Representative Brian, harrison
thank you so much for the. Time we appreciate. That
it always great to be with.
Speaker 1 (01:50:04):

Speaker 28 (01:52:38):
Flat when they're going to say things like the tariffs
are going to lead to higher, prices you, know they
don't really understand tariffs are based on not the retail.
Price so when you go and buy a one hundred
and fifty dollars pair of, sneakers and the tariff on
that sneaker is now twenty. Percent that doesn't mean that
the sneaker costs twenty percent more than one hundred and fifty.
Speaker 6 (01:52:56):
Dollars industry Analyst kenneth proposes as the tariffar based in.

Needs this Is Houston's Morning news With Jimmy.
Speaker 3 (01:57:38):
Barrett, okay it is seven thirty. Seven, now good morning to.
You i'm abot friends in For. Jimmy Happy, Halloween Good friday.
Morning President trump said it's time to go. Nuclear And
i'm not talking about the nuclear test that he is
calling for restarting for the first time in thirty years
in response to other nations potential adversaries being. Nuclear we're
(01:58:00):
talking about the nuclear. Option when it comes to the legislative,
Philibuster President trump on Truth social calling for an end
to it so that the government can be. Reopened he
is going to have a lot of support in this
call because many have been saying this for some. Time
The democrats will be completely, obstructionist and virtually every agenda
(01:58:20):
item that The president puts forth and gets through The,
house it's going to come to The senate and die
because of the, filibuster the rule that says you have
to have sixty. Votes so there are many who have
called For President trump to do this because you know
there's no way that he's going to be able to
implement his. Agenda the problem is when the filibuster is,
(01:58:40):
eliminated when it is essentially you, know. Destroyed whatever party
is in, power particularly if you have the, trifecta if
you have The White house and The house and The,
senate you can pretty much get done anything you. Want
and the fear is when A democrat administration takes, over
if they've got That senate control as, well they'll do
(01:59:01):
the things that we were terrified. Of adding two more,
states very very left wing, states and four more senators
talking About, WASHINGTON, dc And Porto Puerto rico would be
those quote unquote states abolishing the electoral college and letting
the biggest cities all left wing decide by way of
only popular vote who the president. Is they're talking about
(01:59:23):
packing The Supreme. Court they don't like the nine that
are there now because of the, Majority well then we'll
go to eleven or thirteen or fifteen or whatever number
that they have to make sure that they have.
Speaker 11 (01:59:33):
The.
Speaker 3 (01:59:34):
Majority that's the danger of getting rid of the. Filibuster
but the belief from The president is if we don't
do it, now they're going to do it anyway if
they regain. Control so we might as well do it
ourselves and get as many of the important priorities that
we have as we can passed without having to rely
(01:59:55):
On democrats or sixty, votes including getting the government reopened
and funded for goodness. Sakes so as a pretty lengthy
post by The president on truth SOCIAL i can't read it.
Speaker 30 (02:00:05):
All.
Speaker 3 (02:00:05):
Now we'll take our time on that time, out we're
going to get our traffic in our. Weather but when
we come, Back i'm going to share that with, you
the lengthy post from The. President And i'm curious BECAUSE
i gave you the short version of it about an
hour and a half, ago if you support, it if
you think they should abolish the legislative filibuster and trigger
that nuclear. Option AND i gave my email. Address i've
(02:00:26):
been checking. It there are a few emails in there
already with people answering this. Question do you agree that
the President i'm sorry with the, president that The senate
should should abolish the legislative. Filibuster if you have thoughts on,
it email. Me my email address Is bob at strictly
speaking dot. Org bob at strictly speaking dot. Org and

Speaker 3 (02:05:45):
Seven, Ktrh okay so HERE'S what i want to. Give
you This Is president trump last Night On. Truth social
it starts out his true social post started out talking
about his Trip to asia where he just. Came back,
of course he Was, In, China Japan, South korea malaysia and.
So forth but the, best part the meat of the
(02:06:06):
post Is what i'm going to share with, you now
because this, is very. Very controversial if it, is done
it is going to be done, forever probably and if
the filibuster, is gone it is going to make, things
very very different about getting legislation passed In The United states,
congress specifically, of course In the senate here, We Go
Majority Leader john Thune and speaker Of The House mike
johnson are doing a great job rights, the president But
(02:06:29):
the democrats are crazed lunatics that have lost all sense
of wisdom. And reality it is a sick form of
the New legendary trump derangement syndrome that only comes from losing.
Too much they want trillions of dollars to be taken
from our healthcare system and given to others who are,
not deserving people who have come into our, country illegally
many from prisons and. Mental institutions this Will hurt, american
(02:06:51):
Citizens and republicans will not let. It happen it is
now time For the republicans to play their trump card
and go for what is called the. Nuclear option get
rid of, the filibuster and get rid of. It now
just a short, while Ago, the democrats while, in power
fought for three years to, do this but were unable
(02:07:12):
to pull it off Because Of Senators joe Manchin Of
west Virginia And kirsten Cinema. Of arizona never Have the
democrats fought so hard to do something because they knew
the tremendous strength that terminating the filibuster would. Give them
they want to substantially expand Pack The United States, supreme Court,
make WASHINGTON. D C And puerto, rico states thereby automatically
(02:07:36):
picking Up four, senate Seats many, house seats and at
least eight, electoral votes and many other highly. Destructive, things
well now we are, in power and if we did
what we should, be doing it would immediately end, this
ridiculous country destroying shutdown If the democrats ever came back,
into power which would be made easier. For them If
(02:07:58):
the republicans are not using the great strength and policies
made available to us by ending, the Filibuster the democrats
will exercise their rights and it will be done on
the first day they, take office regardless of whether or
not we. Do it in addition to all of the
other things we, would get such as the, best judges
THE best, us attorneys the best. Of everything this was
(02:08:20):
a concept from years ago Of Then President Barack hussein
obama And Former Majority Leader harry reid in order to
take advantage Of. The REPUBLICANS now i want to do
it in order to take advantage Of. The democrats that
was all posted ten thirty six pm last Night By
(02:08:40):
president trump on his truth, social account and now Everyone
in washington. Is discussing Everybody in washington is talking about what.
This means senators are getting on. Board Quickly Senator bernie
moreno has already that he's A senior Senator, from ohio
he has floated abolished. The Filibuster On, fox news, he,
(02:09:02):
said quote we have Almost all republicans. On board maybe
it's time to think about. The filibuster let's just vote
with Fifty two republicans and let's open. The government it
may get to. That now this was way back on
the Eighth, of october so that's a three week old
Comment From. Bernie marino AND like, i said we're getting
a lot of people who have talked about It Before,
(02:09:22):
president trump and many reacting this. Morning Since and i've
got and apologies because we're running out of time Here
and i'm not going to be able to read many of,
these emails but i do want to read at, least
one just to just to. BE kind i agree With
the republicans Playing the trump card and. Going nuclear If
the dems end the filibuster next time they're, in control so.
(02:09:43):
Be it we still have a voice to call out,
their lunacy And the american people by now have realized
just how crazy and beholden they are to the far
radical leftists who will now control. Their party thanks for,
filling In And. Happy halloween this one Came From. PAPA
choppa I appreciate, lee, said, yeah yeah it's seven, fifty
Six so i'm not going to be Able to relea
(02:10:04):
or anybody else. RIGHT now i do apologize, for that
but this is this is very Interesting and i'm sure
you're gonna hear more about It From. Michael berry thanks.
