crimes committed by people out on a pr bond and

Speaker 6 (01:31):
Good morning everyone. Our top story this hour.
Speaker 2 (01:36):
Eighty eight Eyes of fifty two. A's House Bill four
has finally passed.
Speaker 6 (01:40):
And with that, redistricting passes the Texas House after a
week so Democrats stall tactics.
Speaker 7 (01:46):
They messed up. They've united the Republican caucus. There's been
a little divide the entire session. Well, that divide has
now been lifted. Republicans are pissed off.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
State Rep.
Speaker 6 (01:57):
Riscocaine on Newsmax. Now the actions of those runaway Democrats
have consequences. Governor Greg Gabbott expanded the agenda for the
special session. It now includes punishments for lawmakers who quote
break quorum. One of those Democrats, Nicole Collier literally caught
with her pants down leaving a call with reporters in
(02:18):
California Gavin Newsom she was on in the restroom far assingly.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
They said, it's a felony for me to do.
Speaker 8 (02:24):
See this.
Speaker 5 (02:24):
Apparently I can't be on the floor or in.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
The bathroom by everybody.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
I've got to go.
Speaker 6 (02:29):
Yeah, that's because she refused to accept a DPS chaperone
when she returned to Austin. This week five h two
on KGI to Judge N. L. Passo blocks Texas Attorney
General Ken Paxton from prosecuting Beto O'Rourke's political group for
backing the Dems. He also issued a cease and desessed
letter to multiple groups shipping abortion pills into Texas and
(02:52):
is appealing a ruling by a Bill Clinton appointed federal
judge to temporarily block the new law requiring the Ten
Commandments be posted in every Texas public school classroom. Now
when I'll bet in. The liberal San Antonio newspaper called
for a change to the school accountability ratings that came
out last week. You know, the A through F grades.
(03:14):
But the legislature may be working on something better.
Speaker 9 (03:17):
The district grades are based mostly on the results of
one standardized test, and because of that, there is a
move in Austin to make big changes.
Speaker 10 (03:25):
Eliminating the Star test and replacing it with three tests
the beginning of the year, middle of the year, end
of the year.
Speaker 9 (03:31):
The bill's authors, date Senator Paul Bettencourt, says the goal
is to create a better way of measuring student success
while ending taxpayer funded lawsuits against the public accountability system.
His bill has passed the state Senate. It comes up
for debate today in the House. I'm Beth Myers News
Radio seven forty KTRA.
Speaker 2 (03:49):
It's coming up on five ZHO four.
Speaker 6 (03:51):
A newly proposed bill in Austin would allow victims of
violent crime the ability to sue judges who grant pr
bonds to those that shouldn't gotten them.
Speaker 11 (04:01):
Perhaps this is the beginning of a precedent setting where
you're going to hold governmental entities liable if they fail
to properly administer their duties.
Speaker 6 (04:11):
Andy Cohn with Crime Stoppers says there is no downside
to this and it could help strengthen existing laws by
making soft on crime judges think twice before allowing violent
criminals back on the street. Another bill proposed in Austin
involves the contracts that local constables have with their neighborhoods
and school districts.
Speaker 12 (04:30):
It's basically to make sure that Harris County and Commissioner's
Court can't block those contracts.
Speaker 13 (04:37):
This is just another example of lawmakers taking a look
at Harris County Commissioner's Court. There are concerns at the
state level that some of these things are being politicized.
Speaker 12 (04:47):
That's reporter Holly Hanson with the Texan State Reps. Mike
Schofield and Tom Oliverson are trying to get it passed.
Speaker 13 (04:56):
These lawmakers are saying these programs are very popular.
Speaker 14 (05:00):
That's all.

Law enforcement in Montgomery County just put seventy one people
behind bars in a multi agency warrant crackdown. One of
the agencies involved the US Marshall Service.
Speaker 15 (05:21):
We had for probably twenty years a memorand of understanding
between Montgomery County and the US Marshalls to work with
them on a regular basis on issues of warrant or whatever.
Who use them and work with them to get this handled.
Speaker 6 (05:34):
Montgomery County Judge Mark ke O telling KTRH that the
county sheriff and the conro PD were also involved. Five
HO five Hurricane Aeron is bringing tropical storm conditions to
North Carolina's outer banks this morning. We're also expecting conditions
to go downhill along the Virginia coast. The storm is
a cat too, but it's also a huge storm. The
(05:55):
National Hurricane Center also looking at two other areas for
possible development. Earlier this week, the FDA issued a warning
about radioactive shrimp, some of which was found in shipping
content containers at the Port of Houston.
Speaker 2 (06:09):
It was all coming from Indonesia.
Speaker 16 (06:11):
They got lots of talks of chemicals, antibiotics, hormones, radioactive

away from it.
Speaker 8 (06:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (06:21):
Texas AG Secretary Sid Miller says that this week's discovery
has yet another reason for you to choose seafood that's
raised and caught right here in Texas. The radioactive shrimp
was sold at Walmart under the Great Value brand.

Speaker 3 (07:03):
I live in the Heights, I live in Spring Kinglin.
Next on the ten your Faster Commute on seven KTRH.
Speaker 2 (07:12):
So, so maybe we start with this. Do you call
it dinner or do you call it supper? And what's
the difference between dinner and supper? We all know what
breakfast is. Breakfast came up with the name breaking fast,
you know, because you went all night without eating. Theoretically,
I'm not sure how lunch got his name. I think
(07:34):
in some places they call supper lunch or lunch is supper.
And then dinner is what you have, you know, for
your last meal of the day. How late it is
too late to eat it? Do you think you know?
I guess the dieticians get asked that question all the time,
and the answer is, well, It depends. Uh, there are
(07:56):
some general rules so that you could probably follow. I mean,
if if what you're trying to do is to get
a good night's sleep and not have acid reflux and
all those types of things. It depends on what time
you go to bed, generally speaking as to what time
you should eat dinner. If you go to bed at
eleven o'clock at night, you could eat dinner as late
as seven. It's no big deal. By the way, how
(08:18):
many he just lay seven o'clock. I have a friend
who always eats like certainly always after six, usually after seven.
I don't. I like dinner a lot earlier than in
the day than that I eat. My dinner is super
early because I get up super early, so I go
to bed by seven. So I usually am eating dinner
(08:40):
around three three thirty in the afternoon, which is great
from a couple of aspects. Number one is I get
the early bird special with the rest of the senior citizens,
and you can usually find some good specials or order lunch.
You can still get the lunch menu, usually get you know,
two thirty three, three thirty in the afternoon. You could
still get the lunchmen which is smaller portions twaper prices.
(09:03):
But my rule has always been I want to make
sure that I've got at least three hours for my
stomach to digest my dinner before I go to bed.
Going to bed on a full stomach usually can cause
a lot of problems. Like I said, we can interfere
with your sleep, get interfere with their digestion. So that's
kind of the rule they come up with. So depending
upon what time you go to bed dictates how late
(09:25):
you can eat dinner. The thing you don't want to
do is go to dinner in a full stomach. Five
to ten time for traffic and weather together. You know,
Terry's out right on this one? Is she out on
this one?
Speaker 4 (09:34):
Yes, she's having a technical difficulty, So thank you for
telling her from you and you know, if you need to, Jimmy,
I got you back up right here. All right, Well,
Peel's pocket radar. Let's go to two forty nine. I
never talk about two forty nine. Some of the smartest
drivers in all Metropolitan and Houston. But now we've got
a wreck here. Which way are we going? Southbound? Two
(09:55):

Speaker 2 (09:55):
I had it, I lost it. I'm scrambling, I'm under pressure.
Speaker 4 (09:59):
Oh they cleared it. It is Green's Road. Okay, gone
forget it, stay of the course. Now our problem that
started out this morning, Katie Freeway. I'm looking from Silver
so this must be and twine. Oh they've shut down
the whole freeway here. Okay, this is not looking good.
And I'm looking at the way they're lined up here.
Whoa firetrucks sideways this way? And no, the fire trucks
are okay, but this reck's looking pretty gnarly. All right,
(10:21):
if you're looking along at home with me, check out
a camera four one zero three and they have shut
this thing down.
Speaker 2 (10:28):
I'm wondering if nothing good's happening there.

Do you know who I am?
Speaker 11 (11:54):
If you ever.
Speaker 2 (11:54):
Have you ever tried that one with a police officer?
Do you know who I am? Or some other lame
attempt to try to get it either get out of
a ticket, or get out of trouble, or whatever, whatever
the case may be. A Rhode Island Assistant Attorney at
General tried that with the Newport, Rhode Island Police. It

didn't go so well one That story coming up next. First, though,
Let's they know.
Speaker 8 (12:19):
Who I am.
Speaker 2 (12:19):
Here's a guy, here's a guy who's probably you could

to have some winners there, Semike.
Speaker 4 (12:35):
The reason I'm driving too fast is because I'm running

But let's check out the Katie Freeway. He didn't buy it.
Let's hit Katie Freeway inbound from Antoine. We're checking with
Jump and Joe. You know my good friend, because he

Listened to in one place.
Speaker 1 (14:22):
It's the easiest way to listen to KTRRA.
Speaker 2 (14:24):
Download or update our free iHeartRadio app today. Yeah, I
know who you are. You're the king of rock and roll.
I think Elvis Presley wouldn't have to play the do
you Know Who I Am? Card? Right? Safe to say, well,
maybe now he would because he's been gone for so long.
In nineteen seventy seven, that's when he died, So he might,
he might, he might. I'm baking you Know who I Am?
(14:48):
I don't think I've ever played the do you Know
Who I Am? Card? I think that's just so pompous,
And I think I think you automatically set yourself up
for more trouble if you try to do that, don't you.
I think that's kind of what happened here. I'm not
sure why this woman was trustpassing or where she was.
(15:11):
They don't even tell that part of the story where
she was when she was truspassing. But she and her
friend female friend were trustpassing evidently, and for whatever reason,
probably because they're acting up. They're gonna they're about ready
to get arrested by the Newport, Rhode Island police, and
then she starts playing the do you know who I Am? Card?
(15:33):
And it goes downhill quickly. Dani Prino on the other
side will comment, if I ask you.
Speaker 1 (15:38):
To turn off, the body can turn it off.
Speaker 19 (15:40):
And she's a similawyer, so.
Speaker 2 (15:42):
She knows, well, that's bullet lawyer stuff. So that's not true.
So we gotta go no, it is.
Speaker 1 (15:47):
That's I'm an agent.
Speaker 2 (15:49):
I'm an agent.
Speaker 20 (15:50):
Good for you story, your.
Speaker 21 (16:16):
Special Assistant Attorney General Devin Hogan. Flanagan and her friend,
Veronica Hannon were charged with willful trespass. Hannan was also
slapped with a disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Rhode Island's
Attorney General says there will be consequences for Hogan Flan
again and talk about awkward. He said he made her
watch her rest video with him. The public humiliation, Dana, Well, if.
Speaker 22 (16:40):
There's anything we've learned about the era of videos is
never try to tell people.
Speaker 1 (16:46):
Do you not know who I am?
Speaker 22 (16:47):
Because it's always going to make it. It's going to
make it worse for you. It will always make it
worse for you. Kate is from Rhode Island. This is
her favorite video in.
Speaker 1 (16:54):
A long time.
Speaker 2 (16:55):
She said that the Newport police do not mess around. No,
clearly they don't. Most police departments don't mess around. If
you get to the point where they're about ready to
arrest you because of your behavior and you start playing
that game, that's like a go directly to jail. Now
(17:15):
she probably got out on a PR bond. But again,
the public humiliation because they're videos everywhere. So here's my
question of today. You go to the iHeart radio app KTRH.
Please make a number one in your preset. You hit
the talkback button, get up to thirty seconds. First name
worried calling from me? If you have a story of
your own or a friend or whatever, it is your
story of either somebody who tried to play there do
(17:37):
you know who I Am?
Speaker 23 (17:38):
Card?
Speaker 2 (17:38):
And it failed miserably or best or worst excuses that
might have actually gotten you out of trouble with the police,
or at least lessened the trouble you were in with
the police. Again, go to the iHeart radio app, hit
the microphone button once you get there, thirty seconds. First name,
where you're calling from, and your story. Five twenty six.
(18:00):
It is time to take a look at your money
as we check in with Denise Pellegrini. Yeah, good morning too.
Speaker 24 (18:04):
It's not sounding like the FETA is in too much
of a hurry to cut interest rates at the September meeting.
Minutes from the last FMC meeting show most FED officials
highlighted the risk to inflation outweighing concerns over the labor market,
and they cited tariffs. Right now, Dow futures are down
one seventy one s and P futures down twelve, Nasdaq
futures down twenty four And it's not even Labor Day yet.
(18:25):

Speaker 4 (19:27):
I'm still trying to figure out what's what's up with
this Katie freeway wreck.
Speaker 2 (19:30):
We're gonna call it one, two, three, four Center lanes here.
Speaker 4 (19:33):
They're letting you buy on the left. That's not necessarily
always a good sign. Sometimes they're just bleeding out the
people that are already there so they can shut down
the whole thing. All I see is a truck on
one side on see a fuel spill, nothing else indicating,
you know, no jaws of life or anything like that.
Jump and Joe said. The response is normal, short story long.
We're backed up from blaylock In. You lose about ten

Speaker 6 (20:27):
It's five thirty one on KTRHR top story this hour.
Speaker 26 (20:30):
Ode and I is more than doubled in size. It
is bloated with bureaucracy. It is rife with politicization, weaponization,
the very thing that it was created to try to
prevent and get after.
Speaker 6 (20:43):
Dn I Telsea Gabbard on Fox, slashing the office by
forty percent to restore trust in the untel community after
what we found out about the Russia hoax. Speaking of which,
former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, she's facing an ethical
complaint from a government watchdog group that's calling on the
Arkansas State Bar to investigate whether her involvement into all
(21:06):
of this should impact her law license. Meantime, Russia reportedly
is unhappy with Ukraine getting security assurance, is in any
deal to end the more than three year old war.
Still no date for a meeting between Putin and Zelensky,
but Vice President J. D. Van says President Trump has
done more than Joe Biden never did to stop the killing.
Speaker 27 (21:27):
Without him being weak and provocative, I don't think that Russia.
Speaker 1 (21:31):
Would have invaded Ukraine.
Speaker 27 (21:32):
And now we have a situation where a president is
trying to be strong and bold and trying to bring
this thing to close.
Speaker 6 (21:38):
Vance On Fox meantime, a judge denied the Trump administration's
request to unseal grand jury documents in the Jeffrey Epstein case.
Speaker 28 (21:46):
Judge Richard Berman's ruling follows another judge's decision not to
release grand jury transcripts in the case against Epstein's former girlfriend,
Glane Maxwell. Maxwell is serving a twenty year sentence after
being convicted of helping Epstein traffic young girls. Epstein committed
suicide before his trial.
Speaker 6 (22:04):
Jared Halpern reporting it's now five point thirty three. It's
not just sanctuary cities defying the president in Ice, it's
blue states as well. The governor of Washington told the
White House that he will not be quote bullied or intimidated.
California is not in compliance. Neither are Oregon or New York. Now,
even with Trump back in office, election integrity remains an issue.
(22:26):
And that's why the Tea Party Patriots Action Group is
trying to get hot Congress to pass the Save Act.
Speaker 19 (22:32):
And people may be wondering what is the Save Act?
It will require proof of citizenship to register to vote.
Over eighty percent of Americans agree, including over seventy five
percent of Democrats and over seventy five percent of independence.
Speaker 6 (22:45):
Jenny Beth Barton with the Tea Party Patriots Group calls
the Acts must Pass Legislation five point thirty four. Here
at Home, Harris Kenny Judge Lena Hidalgo continues to bash
Democrats and the one Republican on Commissioner's Court over the
two hundred million dollar budget deficit. She blames them, but
it happened on her watch. The court does not meet
(23:05):
again until Tuesday. Meantime, the county is trying to find
ways to make up for the deficit that Hidalgo's spending
has caused.
Speaker 29 (23:13):
Now Democrats are being blamed for causing the deficit by
wasting COVID relief funds.
Speaker 30 (23:18):
They've spent like drunken sailors. They should have been looking
to the future and looking towards how they can provide services.
Speaker 29 (23:26):
Harris County gopchair Cindy Siegal says the best way to
close the deficit is to end the programs created with
COVID funds.
Speaker 30 (23:32):
Why are we in their spot because they were starting
these new programs that they couldn't sustain, so they need.
Speaker 29 (23:39):
To get back to the basic Siegel added that this

Speaker 6 (23:49):
More Republican states are lining up to redraw their congressional maps. Florida, Georgia,

moving ahead with its retaliation.
Speaker 31 (24:02):

mandate better preparation and warning systems. For camps along the
Guadalupe River. One hundred and thirty seven people died in
the flooding. On KTRH, you got us, Thank you, Say

Speaker 2 (25:54):
All Right, the runaways all came back. But what to
do with the runaways? I guess that's the question. I'm
not sure why it's a question, but it seems to
be a question. Have they given these people any fines
yet for the time that they were away? Have they
docked them for the money? Have the fines been paid?
Were the fines and if they were paid, were they
(26:15):
actually paid by the lawmaker? And if they weren't paid
by the lawmaker, do they need to change the way
the fines are levied so they have to be paid
for by the actual lawmaker who participated. Because you know,
if you've got some donor who's just going to give
you the money and you're not really losing any money,
(26:37):
what do you care? No punishment, no punishment at all.
Have any of these Democrats lost their co chair positions
on these committees? Last I heard they hadn't. And yet
the governor is announced that he is adding three items
to this special session. One of them is punishments for
lawmakers who break the quorum. Well, heng I thought we
(27:00):
already had punishments. We just haven't used the punishments that
we already have. So now he wants to add more punishments.
What does he want to add? He said today, I'm
expanding the agenda for the second special session to include
issues that will benefit Texas. First, we need to ensure
that rogue lawmakers cannot hijack the important business of Texans
(27:22):
during a legislative session by fleeing the state. Additional then
there's a couple other times. We'll get those other times later. Well, okay,
what are you proposing? What are these additional punishments? And
if you weren't willing to institute the punishments that were
already available to you, what's the point of adding more.
(27:45):
I just don't quite get that represented. Brian Harrison will
be our guest. He has been very critical of the
way his fellow Republicans have handled this whole thing, and
I'm thinking he's probably thinking the same thing. I'm thinking,
you didn't bother to punish them, really with the rules
you already add in place. What are you going to
try to add to the list that you don't intend
to punish them with. We'll talk about it in six
(28:06):
twenty two, five forty. Time for traffic and weather together.
Sky Mike's here. Okay, this is looking a lot better.
They've opened some laneage now on the Kdie Freeway. Now
we're going to hold three right lanes or letting people

doesn't it.

in the day, eighty six tomorrow, Partly klaudy. Scattered afternoon

What you need to know for the day ahead is
Houston's Morning News, brought to you by New South Windows Solutions.
So we have a question of the day that we're
working on today, and if I think we could, if
you're willing to share, I think we could get some
great stories on this play a little cut earlier from
a arrest a video that's gone viral of a Rhode
(30:18):
Island Assistant Attorney General being arrested by the Newport, Rhode
Island Police and her playing the do you Know Who
I Am? Card trying to get out of all this,
And of course she starts by claiming that he has
to turn off his body cam, which he doesn't, you know,
saying it's if I tell you to turn it off,
(30:39):
if you have to do that. He says, no, I don't,
and then she says do you know who I am?
I'm I don't give a blip who you are, and
proceeds to get arrested. Playing the do you Know who
I Am? Card generally fails spectacularly. So if you have
a story about somebody you saw trying to play the
do you Know who I Am? Card and it failed
(30:59):
to miss, I'd love to hear it. But also best
and worst excuses either you or someone you know has
tried to get out of trouble with the police, whether
it's get out of a speeding ticket or whatever it is,
you can share those with us too. You go to
the iheartradiof KTRH, hit the talkback button, get up to

like I could swear they're about to clear it. Okay, good,
let's call it three right lines for now. I think
they're going to clear it. Let's keep re routing the

Radio seven kt RH. All right, who's your daddy? That's
what that's what is being asked to Democrats. Who's your daddy?
You've got no daddy. We got a daddy. His name
was Donald Trump, and uh he stands for something, and
he's large and in charge of the Republican Party. But
(33:23):
Democrats don't have a daddy, and that's a problem, and
they're kind of floating aimlessly. They don't have they don't
have any plan other than to attack our daddy. That's
the that's their only plan. So Jesse Waters on his
show last night was talking about the need for the
Democrats to find themselves a daddy.
Speaker 6 (33:45):
So the Democrats needed daddy, We need a presidential nominee.
Speaker 2 (33:50):
You're exactly right.
Speaker 15 (33:51):
We will not have a unified message in our party
until the twenty twenty eight election.
Speaker 18 (33:57):

Speaker 33 (34:00):

and now they want a daddy and there's one guy
shining his shoes for the father daughter dance.
Speaker 2 (34:10):
Yes, I've changed, the facts have changed.
Speaker 18 (34:13):
We need to change, and we need to stand up

going to punch back with a full weight of the

Speaker 2 (34:48):
Stephen A likes his hair gel.
Speaker 1 (34:51):
Let's call it what it is.
Speaker 2 (34:52):
Say this about Gavin Newsom. The brother looks presidential.
Speaker 36 (34:56):
I mean, listen, you know I don't look at men
that way that it's just not my flavor.
Speaker 2 (35:01):
But the brother does look good in the blue suit.
I mean he looks very presidential. He really really does.
He has slicked bat pat Riley might be jealous.
Speaker 36 (35:10):
Good looking dude, excellent, excellent speaker, can articulate his thoughts clearly,
highly intelligent, knows the issues, knows how to fight, and
is willing to take on Trump.
Speaker 2 (35:23):
Yep, but he's on the wrong side of most of
those issues. People are fleeing his state and Steven A
on they're leaving. The exodus from California continues because of
his policies and what he's done to California. Don't California
or Texas, don't California are United States of America. That's
(35:46):
what I would say to that, But I think that
he's probably right from the standpoint of the guy probably
has the best shot at getting the Democrat presidential nomination.
So if you want to know what President Gavin Newsom
would look like, just take a look at all the
policies in California right now. That would tell you just

Speaker 2 (38:47):

Speaker 10 (39:44):
Elimination of the Star test and the Texas a f

Speaker 6 (39:49):
Bill's author is Houston State Senator Paul Bettencourt. He wants
three smaller tests throughout the year. There will be another
vote on that today in the House. Six h four
now a bi filed in the House to reign in
activist judges, and if passed, it would allow victims of
violent crimes, or there were states to sue judges who
let offenders out on PR bonds.
Speaker 29 (40:10):
This could go a long way towards making judges think
twice before letting criminals out.
Speaker 11 (40:14):
If you do grant a bond to a defender that
is not entitled to receive a PR bond, you could
perhaps be held civilly liable.
Speaker 29 (40:23):
Andy con with Crimestoppers says this is a fairly common
sense bill that could strengthen existing law.
Speaker 11 (40:28):
There's really no downside in this. It's not going to
be a pantasy. It's not going to be like you're
going to be opening the floodgates for civil liability.

Crude oil jumped by about a dollar in the last day,
following several days of decline. Soil market analyst Phil Flynn
says prices have fluctuated recently amidst news about a possible
peace deal between Russia and Ukraine.
Speaker 17 (42:13):
I think overall the market actually has been betting on
a peace deal because we've seen recent weakness and prices.
I think the reversal in prices it's because the market's
getting more optimistic about the demand side.

Yeah, well, I think we probably have all made a
few stupid excuses when dealing with the police, right. What
got this conversation started as a Rhode Island Assistant Attorney
General playing the do you know who I Am? Card
and proceeding to get herself arrested by the Newport, Rhode
Island Police Department and having a meltdown, all kinding camera.
(43:50):
Of course, everything's on camera these days, and now she's
thoroughly embarrassed. I'm pretty sure about what happened to her.
But truth of the matter is we all kind of
make stupid excuses sometimes in dealing with the police department.
I think I think last time I got pulled over,
and it does and hap very often. I've only got
I've had one speeding ticket in the last fifteen years.
(44:12):
And the police officer said, do you know why I'm
pulling you over and I said, yes, I was going
a little too fast. He said, yes, you were. Why
were you going so fast? I said, I have to
go to the bathroom. I just popped into my head
and then I watched as this police officer took his
sweet time writing my ticket, because I, okay, I'm gonna
(44:37):
see if this guy really does have to go to
the bathroom, because as long as I'm taken to write
this ticket, he's gonna poop himself pretty soon. And of
course I didn't, So there you go. There goes that excuse, right. So,
if you've gotten a story about either playing the do

INFORMATION i don't like what's happening all. Day we have
apossible this is happening in our. Hometown it's always something
oh as will be. Used radio SEVEN.
Speaker 2 (49:26):
Ktrh now the line has been. Drugged we have a
new redistricting. Plan The governor will end up signing it this,
week and that'll be that that we can move on
to something else in this special. Session JOINNING Us Representative Brian.
Harrison WHAT i was wondering last, Hour, representative BECAUSE i
know the governor in this second session is asking for
(49:47):
new penalties for lawmakers who break the, quorum And i'm
thinking to, myself hang on a, second did we even
bother to enforce the penalties we already had in?
Speaker 38 (49:59):
Place you, know it's a good. QUESTION a lot of
people are asking. That, okay so the governor last night
calls for new penalties to be concocted and thought about
so that maybe in the, future if Another democrat group
thinks about breaking, corn they'll know we're gonna be serious
(50:20):
with them that. Time, well come, on give me a.
Break this is a little bit. LATE i mean the
old saying day late and a dollar. SHORT i mean
it's at least that. HERE i, mean good. Grief the
real punishments would have been things that really would have
hurt The, democrats primarily adding more seats to the.
Speaker 5 (50:37):
Map, okay that would have hurt them on number.
Speaker 38 (50:39):
Two remember When speaker Of burroughs made a big deal
photo ops about signing those arrest. Warrants, yeah zero arrest
or what about the governor's own, THREAT i, Mean Governor
abbas said two almost three weeks. Ago, now if they
don't show up By monday at, three their seats are
gonna be. Vacated, yeah zero seats have been. Vacated Zero
democrats were. Arrested there were not any More republican seats
(51:02):
added to the, map and as as we, speak not
one Single democrats parking spot was even taken.
Speaker 5 (51:07):
Away they're all gonna get. Paid they're gonna get paid in.
Speaker 38 (51:10):
Full there is no fines even been charged against them
that they will be forced to.
Speaker 5 (51:15):
Pay absolutely.
Speaker 38 (51:17):
Nothing so WHAT i would, expect and we'll see If
i'm right on, This who. Knows my guess is will
have some kind of like Bad kabooki punishment, theater you,
know in a couple of days where The democrats will
have some of their you, know committee reassigned or committees,
reassigned or maybe some chairmanships or vice chairmanships taken. Away
but don't fall for, that because once the special sessions
(51:38):
over the committees.
Speaker 5 (51:38):
Are, irrelevant there's no bills to, hear so there's there's a.
Speaker 38 (51:42):
Chance my guess is they're gonna come up with some
kind of fake non punishments that they think they can
use to snowball and gaslight the people of The state
Of texas who actually want, real tangible things to be
done to these to these Rogue. Democrats but if yesterday
was any indication Where, republicans almost all of them at
the beginning of the, day until myself in the, grassroots
(52:03):
rate such hell about. This almost Every republican in The
Texas house went out of their way to vote with
The democrats to Give democrats even more time to continue,
delaying and almost doubled the time that we.
Speaker 8 (52:13):
Were on the floor.
Speaker 5 (52:14):
Yesterday it's completely.
Speaker 38 (52:15):
Outrageous but what it proves is that The republican leadership
and the so Called republican Dominated Texas house Of representatives
cares more about appeasing the extremist liberal Social democrats than
they do delivering for The republican conservative voters of the
Great state Of.
Speaker 5 (52:31):
Texas and it's time for that to.
Speaker 2 (52:32):
Change explain to, me if you can why this need for.
Appeacement they have the power if they're willing to use,
it what are they worried? About who are they worried about?
Upsetting what are they afraid That Texas democrats will do
to them if they punish?
Speaker 21 (52:47):
Them?
Speaker 38 (52:48):
Well and number, ONE i, mean most of These republicans
are actually very liberal, Themselves so it's not like they're
they want to be, conservative but they're fearful of The,
democrats so they're fearful of. CONSEQUENCES i, MEAN i bet
close to a full thing of These republicans in The
Texas house would Be, democrats, okay if they could, be
if they could be honest about. It so it's not
like we have very many Conservative republicans.
Speaker 36 (53:08):
In The Texas.
Speaker 38 (53:09):
House because in the state Of, texas it's a great
thing about living, here you can't you don't really have
good luck getting elected if you run as A. Democrat
so pretty much everybody who runs for office runs pretending
to be a Conservative republican is going to take the
fight to those Liberal.
Speaker 5 (53:24):
Democrats but the reality is they're.
Speaker 38 (53:26):
Every bit as liberal as The democrats that they pretend to.
Fight and so that's What i've been trying SINCE i
got elected four years ago after serving in the First trump.
ADMINISTRATION i could nothing could have prepared me for the
shock of learning That texas is actually not run by Real.
Republicans texas is run by a coalition Of democrats And.
Rhinos AND i tell people all the time that the
sooner you've learned and In texas, Government republicans And democrats
(53:49):
are not actually on different, sides the Sooner texas makes
sense to you the, government because what we have down
here is we have two factions in The texas. Government
we have big govern liberals who call Themselves, democrats and
we have big government liberals who call Themselves. Republicans and
that's the paradigm that we've got to Change. Texas texans
(54:10):
re Elected President trump on a fourteen point. Landslide we
need to get Real republicans down here who will actually
stand up to the left and make and prioritize protecting
liberty for the next generation Of texans their top. Priority
and that's why as soon as we passed the maps,
YESTERDAY i, tweeted the very second the map pass got
it plus five, Seats let's go now on to the
one thing we've got to do that we haven't done,
(54:32):
yet and focus all of our efforts and attention on
eliminating property taxes in the state Of, texas because never,
ending unethical.
Speaker 5 (54:39):
Property taxes have got to be.
Speaker 38 (54:42):
Abolished not one Single texan is allowed to own their
home and it's wreaking havoc on lives across our. Country
and it's the biggest failure of the regular sessions that
we did absolutely nothing to eliminate or even cut property.
Taxes and the reality is unless something, changes unless the grassroots,
RIGHT i think The Austin uniparty is going to do
their usual tricks and pass quote property tax relief bills
(55:06):
that will do nothing more than increase your property tax
bill at the end of the. Year And i'm trying
to get ahead of that right now out and let
the leadership of the state Of texas know that their
usual song and dance and gas lining about fake property
tax relief built is not good enough any. More texas
want a property taxes cut and it When i'm gone
got to.
Speaker 2 (55:24):
Go thank you so much for your. Time as. Always
that is Representative Brian. Harrison it is six twenty. Eight
it is time to take a look at your. Money

Traffic HOW i listen TO ktrh instead. Late, Yeah we're
all about voting as long as you are A United
states citizen and you're here, legally and, well if you're
A United states, citizen you are here legally correct. Illegals,
no we don't support. That do we have the right
before you cast your both to know who you are
(01:29:45):
and to be able to prove that you are actually
are eligible to? Vote? YEAH i think. So that's what
The Save act is really all. About SO i really
don't understand those who oppose it because the top claim
they always make is that it disenfranchises eligible. Voters how,
So Jenny Beth martin joins us Tea Party, Patriots how
(01:30:06):
in the world does the same act disenfranchise, Anybody, jenny
except people who are not eligible to.
Speaker 19 (01:30:12):
Vote it simply does not disenfranchise eligible. Voters it simply
requires proof of citizenship to register to. Vote there is
a loophole in the motor voter law which allows the
government which has a form that allows people to register
to vote when they get their driver's, License and that
(01:30:34):
form right now has a checkbox and you affirm that
you are A United states, Citizen but there is no
proof of citizenship when you do.
Speaker 1 (01:30:42):
That so if if you could in an you could
be an.
Speaker 30 (01:30:47):
Inn i'm so.
Speaker 44 (01:30:48):
Sorry i'm going on three hours sleep for the last
four nights since we're traveling across the. Country but, also
if you are a non, citizen you can get a
driver's license in this. Country so if you don't fully
understand the language and somebody's asking you a question and
you're just kind of nodding to speed the process, along
you may inadvertently be signed up to register to vote
(01:31:10):
without even.
Speaker 19 (01:31:11):
Realizing that's what you just. Did AND i think that
that has probably happened in cases where ineligible.
Speaker 5 (01:31:17):
Non citizens or on the voting.
Speaker 19 (01:31:19):
Rules over eighty percent Of americans agree Only american citizens
should vote In american elections to determine The american. President
United States senators In United States, congressmen and over eighty
percent Of americans agree we should require proof of citizenship
to register to. Vote this bill passed A house Of representatives,
(01:31:41):
twice once in the Last congress and once this, year
but it's tallid over in The senate because it can't
get enough votes to get it past the, filibuster meaning
they're not even six or Seven democrats right.
Speaker 2 (01:31:53):
Now willing to vote for.
Speaker 19 (01:31:54):
It this even though over seventy percent Of democrats agree with.
It over seventy percent of independence over ninety percent Of
republicans and on average over eighty percent of All.
Speaker 44 (01:32:07):
Americans agree on.
Speaker 19 (01:32:08):
This they're not doing What americans, want and they're not.
Speaker 2 (01:32:11):
Doing with their own constituency wants by.
Speaker 19 (01:32:14):
Delaying and that's why we've launched this bus, tour The
Only Citizens Vote Bus, tour and we're Urging congress to
pass this bill and Urging congress to attach it the legislation.
Speaker 2 (01:32:25):
That they'd be voting on, anyway such as.
Speaker 19 (01:32:27):
A government funding bill they consider that must pass. Legislation
so put it on Something congress feelds like must pass
to keep the government open and, funded so that we
can ensure that our vote doesn't get canceled out by
an ineligible non.
Speaker 2 (01:32:42):
Citizen, well we know The democrats all walk in, lockstep
that's for, sure but they have to see what's going
on with their own. Party their party is. Imploding Jenny Beth,
martin you would like to think that you could convince
six or Seven democrats who don't want to go down
that path to change their minds and vote in favor this. Act,
WELL i think that.
Speaker 19 (01:33:02):
That that's why we need to attach it to must
pass legislation because they will be more.
Speaker 25 (01:33:08):
Willing what are they going to?
Speaker 19 (01:33:12):
Do vote to shut down the government because they don't
want to ensure proof of citizenship to register to. Vote
that is a politically untenable position for them to be.

there is for this, bill But i'm certainly interested in
talking to crime Stoppers andy conn about. This there's a
bill here In texas that would hold judges liable for
harm done by violent offenders out on A pr bond
or in that story coming up. Next, first we've got

Speaker 1 (01:49:08):
Humble RELIABLE ktrh traffic and. Weather next on the.
Speaker 2 (01:49:13):
Ten, well there are, judges especially here In Arris county
in other parts Of texas, too that you know that
they are just going to issue a pr barn that
they don't care what the criminal is accused of doing
or has already been convicted of. Doing or is likely
to do again if you let them out of. Jail
(01:49:35):
they just give them A pr bond and let them
out of. Jail there's been a lot of negative publicity
for these, judges but they don't seem to. Care they
haven't changed their minds a. Lick so now there's talk
in The texas state legislature from A Harris county state
lawmaker about having a bill that would put these judges on,
notice you are responsible if a violent criminal offender commits
(01:49:57):
a crime while he's out on one of YOUR pr
bonds will be held. Liable andy Conjoins is from Crime.
Stuffers first of, All, andy do you like the? Idea?
Speaker 11 (01:50:05):
Yeah, ABSOLUTELY i think The House bill one sixty, THREE i,
mean deserves, scrutiny thoughtful. CONSIDERATION i think it's a public
debate that's been waiting to happen and will hopefully happen
this special. SESSION i think victim's, defendants in, frankly the,
public they deserve a criminal justice system that's fully, transparent,
(01:50:26):
accountable and follows the, law and this bill will do.
Speaker 2 (01:50:28):
That, okay AS i, understand here's what would be covered
if this bill were to pass the way it, Is
if judges who are acting in cases of, murder, kidnapping human,
trafficking or any other violent. Offense WHAT i don't know
is what type of, Punishment what kind of liability would
a judge have if a repeat offender goes out in
does one of these crimes on A pr.
Speaker 11 (01:50:50):
Bond, well it's basically civil liability when you think about.
It and Doctor, olivererson who is a practing, position brings
up a great. Analogy if somebody in a medical field
violates the oath of the medical practice that they're, under
they can be held civilly liable if any injuries result
(01:51:13):
of what they did on a medical. Basis same thing
with police. Officers they're held liable for. Misconduct even prosecutors
can be held liable for. Misconducts so there's no legitimate
reason why the judiciary has been spared from.
Speaker 2 (01:51:29):
This and that's WHAT i think this still will.
Speaker 1 (01:51:31):
DO i think it'll set the.
Speaker 20 (01:51:32):
Tone it'll let judges, know, hey.
Speaker 11 (01:51:35):
We got to be really careful if we're going to
grant A pr, bond specifically A pr bond to a violent,
offender which you shouldn't be doing, anyways and that person
goes out and commits a horrific crime like murder or sexual,
assault you're now going to be held civilly.
Speaker 2 (01:51:52):
Liable, well let me push this even. Further how about
holding somebody criminally liable for doing something like this if you,
have if you let a known violent offender out on
A pr bond who commits, murder why not charge them
as an accessory to the. Crime, No, jimmy that's that's
(01:52:13):
a really good.
Speaker 11 (01:52:13):
Point SO i think you got to start, somewhere AND
i think you've got to start on the civil, side
and then we can progress perhaps making a criminal.
Speaker 5 (01:52:22):
Offense down the road if it's so be.
Speaker 8 (01:52:24):
It BUT i do think one.
Speaker 11 (01:52:26):
Thing that we are, seeing particularly In Harris, canty is
we are seeing judges that have done a much better,
job particularly GRANTING pr. Bonds kind of where.
Speaker 5 (01:52:36):
It falls flat is the.
Speaker 11 (01:52:38):
Magistrates and hopefully with the new bill that was passed
in the law By Senator Huffman Senate bill, nine hopefully
that will end starting actually next Week september, first making
sure that magistrates don't have the power or the authority
to GRANT pr bonds on certain.
Speaker 2 (01:52:57):
Offenses all, right good, Stuff andy Conn thanks is always
good to talk to, you. Sir you take. Care it's
From Crime Stoppers Andy. Kahn. Interesting, YEAH i kind of
like to hold them criminally liable in addition to being civilly.
LIABLE i think that might cure the. Problem, anyway you
all have a great. Day thanks for. Listening see you tomorrow,
morning bright and, early five. Am hope to see you
(01:53:17):
