Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, a lot of Democrat Party members in California. There
are some Republicans though, even in Los Angeles. Actually, if
you take a look at the map of California, the
entire eastern half of the state is red. There's a
lot more read in California than people think. Steve Williams
joins us Los Angeles County GOP. I want play a
little clip for you, Steven, get your reaction to it.

(00:22):
This is this is Governor Gravit Gavin Newsom yesterday, you know,
talking about why it was they were redistricting, trying to
trying to play it tough.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
This is radical rigging of a midterm election, radical rigging
of an election, destroying, vandalizing this democracy, the.

Speaker 1 (00:43):
Rule of law.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
So I'm sorry. I know some people's sensibilities. I respect
and appreciate that, but right now, with all due respect,
we're walking down a damn different path. We're fighting fire
with fire, and when to punch these sons in the mouth.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
Wow, We're gonna punch those solbs in the mouth. He says,
what's he up to?

Speaker 3 (01:07):
Good, good morning, Jimmy, thanks for having me on bet
He was talking about himself in the California Democrats.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
Sounds like it.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
Yeah, yeah, And just so you know you're you're right,
there's a lot more red in California than people believe.
In fact, statewide, over five point seven million registered Republicans,
larger than any state Republican registration in the nation. And
then Los Angeles County we have over a million registered Republicans,
making us the largest registered Republican county in the nation

(01:40):
as well. So we're not going to sit back and
take it. We're mobilizing the grassroots force and we're going
to fight this thing tooth and nail and we're going
to beat them at the voter box. And anybody that
knows California political history, we'll be able to tell you
that Proposition one eighty seven and referred to as the

(02:02):
death meal of the California Republican Party. This effort, which
is called Proposition fifty, is going to be the death
neal of the California Democratic Party.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
Well, I hope you're absolutely right about that. I'd love
to see California make a comeback when it comes to politics,
because your state is in pretty rough shape right now
when it comes to finances in particular, and if something
doesn't change there California is in real danger fiscally, don't
you think.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
Absolutely? And that's why this special election that the California
Democrats in Newsin are trying to hold is we're going
to show that to the voters. It's going to estimated
the cost over two hundred million dollars at a time
where our budget is in crisis, and just in La
County alone, we're looking at a sixty eight million dollars
special election cost again another budget in Los Angeles, the

(02:52):
city and the county where we're facing a deficit in
our budgets.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
This just sounds to me like a guy who's running
for president or for the Democratic nomination for president, more
than it seems like a real idea that it's really
going to help the Democrat Party because if we get
into a redistricting war, Ohio and a whole bunch of
other red states are just going to redistrict and get
all those seats back.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
Absolutely, and that's what he's trying to do. He's trying
to show that he can be the golden boy for
the California for the Democratic Party nationwide, and he wants
to be able to walk in in twenty twenty eight
as the count as the Democrat nominee for president, and
so that's all this is for him and for California Democrats.
This is just another corrupt power grab in a laundry

(03:37):
list of corrupt power grabs that have been taking place
for decades.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
How many congressional seats are in the hands of Republicans
now in California? What does that number become if this
redistricting plan were to pass.

Speaker 3 (03:50):
So what we have is that we are currently at
nine of the fifty two congressional seats are Republican. And
with this they get their way by the voters and
they're successful, we will be down to four congressional seats.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
I love the jerrymandering lectures that come out of California,
in Illinois, in New York, the states that have been
doing jerry mandering and making it an art form for decades,
that they would lecture Texas about drawing lines that actually
make sense and are more representative of the voters here
in our state.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
Absolutely, And that's the thing Texas. Their law allows them
to do what they're doing. In California, voters had said
back in two thousand and nine, in twenty ten that
we do not want politicians drawing lines, and now in
order to, as he says, fight fire with fire, in
other words, to have two wrongs to make a right.

(04:49):
They're going to take that power out of the Independent
Redistricting Commission's hands and give it back to what they
did behind closed doors in secret with political consults and
with nationwide Democrats, to redraw our lines in favor of
removing five congressional seats that are currently held by Republicans.

Speaker 1 (05:08):
All right, well, keep fighting the good fight, Steve Williams.
And if you're going to send any more people to Texas,
and we've gotten quite a few Californias who've come here,
make sure they're Republicans. Okay.

Speaker 3 (05:18):
Oh, well, what I'm trying to do, Jimmy, thank you
for having me on again and giving me this platform.
But I'm trying to get those Republicans in Texas that
left to come back and help us fight this fight
and take back our state.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
That sounds like a good idea, Steve. Thank you. Steve Williams.
Getting up extra early. It's four twenty eight in the
morning in California.
