Speaker 7 (01:29):
Good morning everyone, five oh one on kg RH our
top story.

Speaker 8 (01:33):
Say that this is a threat on democracy is ludicrous
and the absolute definition of hyperbole.

Speaker 7 (01:38):
Texas Congressman pack fell and reacting to the state Senate
passing the new congressional maps, the move could give Republicans
five more seats in the House. A lawsuit already filed
over this, and the left continues to cry about it,
but they were called out by a surprising source.

Speaker 9 (01:56):
Is criticizing Texas hypocritical given what you put in your
own state.

Speaker 10 (02:04):
Yeah, so let's go into the actual facts.

Speaker 5 (02:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (02:07):
House Minority Leader Hakim Jeffrey never answered CNN's question. Yes, CNN.
And by the way, Maryland Governor Wes Moore now says
redistricting is on the table in his state.

Speaker 5 (02:19):
So how did we get to this point?

Speaker 7 (02:21):
Well, the redistricting war actually started in Galveston.

Speaker 11 (02:25):
It was Galveston County commissioners who first moved to abolish
coalition districts.

Speaker 12 (02:30):
I knew exactly what the implications were.

Speaker 5 (02:32):
This was no mystery.

Speaker 12 (02:32):
People act like we stumbled into this. Far from it.
This was very deliberate, eyes wide open. We knew exactly
what we were doing.

Speaker 11 (02:38):
Galveston County Judge Mark Henry says the Biden DOJ suing
over their county maps enabled all of this.

Speaker 5 (02:44):
You guys have got to blame Biden.

Speaker 12 (02:45):
Don't blame Governor Abbott or the state of Texas. Biden's
dj did not have to start this fight, but they
chose to, and they lost.

Speaker 11 (02:52):
Henry says the Democrats shouldn't have been able to get
away with coalition districts for as long as they did.
Ethan Buchanan News Radio seven forty krh Moore.

Speaker 7 (03:00):
Harris County Democrats spending exposed this. According to a TV report,
Aris County Judge Lena Hidalgo spent forty three grand on
her trip to Paris. In June, almost double what she
said it would cost. And remember she wanted you to
pay for what she was calling a trade mission. It's
now five oh three kilmar Orbrego Garcia appears at an

(03:22):
ICE office in Baltimore today. Reportedly he's going to be
arrested and deported to Uganda. He was released from custody
in Tennessee on Friday by a judge with a long
history of being a far left Democrat donor.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
You've got these liberal judges and very liberal attorneys.

Speaker 5 (03:40):
Who think they're right for band violated and not.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
Worry about the Americans who's.

Speaker 13 (03:44):
Lost their lives because some of these bags they're riots.

Speaker 1 (03:48):
What about all rights?

Speaker 7 (03:49):
Tennessee Congressman Tim Burchett on Fox. The National Guard reportedly
will go to nineteen states, including Texas, to crackdown on crime.
Left all upset that they're now carrying weapons in Washington
as the President identified Chicago as his next target.

Speaker 14 (04:05):
The city of Chicago does not need a military occupied.

Speaker 7 (04:11):
State, Chicago's far left mayor Brandon Johnson calling it tyranny
on MSNBC. The liberal Washington Post claims the Pentagon has
been working on a Chicago plan for weeks here at home,
the good guys fight back. Homeowners shoot and kill two
potential home invaders posing as police officers.

Speaker 15 (04:31):
See suspects were wearing bulletproof vests and had some sort
of badge around their neck and orry sche masks as well.

Speaker 5 (04:41):
The homeowners were not hurt.

Speaker 7 (04:42):
The entire thing caught on a doorbell camera coming up
now on.

Speaker 5 (04:46):
Five oh four, five oh five.

Speaker 7 (04:48):
We might not be here if it weren't for Joe
Biden's pardons. Doj flagged some of them, but Joe granted
the pardons to some violent criminals.

Speaker 16 (04:58):
Anyway, you have a man named Steven Fowler who ordered
someone to be tortured, plays Anderson, who was implicated in
multiple murders and kidnappings. The Just Supertment official in these
memos actually suggested to the President that he stopped saying
publicly that my pardons will only apply to non violent offenders.

Speaker 7 (05:16):
Stephen Richards of Just the News says this ties into
the auto pen scandal and that some of these might
be reversed. It's not getting the attention deportations are, but
the President is cracking down on illegals getting medicaid.

Speaker 17 (05:31):
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid is ordering states to
remove those who don't match up with federal databases in
an effort to get illegal aliens off of Medicaid. Iram
Melman with the Federation for American Immigration Reform says this
is long overdue the.

Speaker 13 (05:44):
Limited benefits that are available. The priority should be on
covering American citizens who are in need of these benefits
and making it clearer to people if you are in
the country illegally that you are not going to be
able to get access to these benefits.

Speaker 17 (05:57):
And estimated one point four million Medicaid enrollies fail to
meet citizenship or immigration requirements. Corey Jolson, he's radio seven
forty KTRH.

Speaker 5 (06:05):
It is now five oh six.

Speaker 7 (06:07):
You are getting ready to start another work week, and
this is proof that not all young people are opposed
to hard work.

Speaker 5 (06:14):
Meet a mill Barr. He's a twenty two year old.

Speaker 7 (06:17):
He's already a multi millionaire, and he's got a message
for his fellow gen zers.

Speaker 18 (06:22):
I published an op ed in a Wall Street journal
which said that work life balance keeps you mediocre. And
what I mean by that is that I firmly believe
that extraordinary accomplishments require extraordinary sacrifices.

Speaker 7 (06:35):
He tells KTRH and will join Jimmy later by the way,
that working hard should be celebrated and that young people
should not push for a four day work week and
then complain about the cost of living. The Astros losing
Baltimore three to two. They still have a two game
lead on Seattle in the Al West. They're off tonight
and will host Colorado tomorrow. The Texans closed out the

(06:55):
preseason by beating Detroit twenty six to seven. They've got
to make their final cuts of training camp by tomorrow afternoon.
I'm Cliff Saunders on Houston's News. Whether in traffic station
is radio seven forty k TRH.

Speaker 1 (07:09):
We're gathering intelligence, gather year.

Speaker 8 (07:11):
We will share intelligence for the very latest on interest
rates in the economy Russia.

Speaker 19 (07:17):
Use radio seven KTRH. Now, why would you want to
change that?

Speaker 3 (07:23):
AH five o eight is our time here in Houston's
morning News. It is that this is a rare occasion
where my opinion is actually evolving. Regarding Cracker Barrel, I
got a little heat last week for saying I didn't
think that the rebrand was about being woke. It just
it was just maybe a misthought. We need to modernize,

(07:46):
we need to attract more people, we need a younger crowd.
Let's just change the stores, make them whier, brighter, more generic,
that type of thing. But people feel very very strongly
about Cracker Barrel, and a lot of you said.

Speaker 5 (08:03):
No, it's because they're woke. It's well with you, Jimmy,
they're woke.

Speaker 3 (08:07):
And I said, what, just because you're trying to rebrand
doesn't necessarily mean that you're woke. And then the more
you hear out of this CEO, this new younger female CEO,
the more you realize, Okay, yeah, she might be a
little woke, she might be a lot woke. It diversity
and inclusion is a part now of the game at

(08:31):
Cracker Barrel. I don't know how important it was before.
I mean, I think they've always been diverse. Well, I
go to a Cracker Barrel, I see all sorts of
different people eating there, I see all sorts of different
people working there. Seems pretty diverse to me, all on
so own without without changing a dog on thing. But
here's the one that persuaded me. Do you know, and

(08:53):
I don't play the game, so I never noticed. Do
you know they changed the peg game at Cracker Barrel.
Remember the pig game, you know where you try to
you try to get to the point where you've made
all the jumps and there's only one peg left. Well,
here's what it used to say on the bag game.
Jump all the one games, jump each team, remove it,

(09:13):
leaving only one your genius. Leave two and you're pretty smart.
Leave three and you're just playing dumb. Leave four or
more than you're in egg no ramos as an ignorant.
You know what I mean. Cracker Barrel, Old Country Store.
They changed it. You know what it says now, leave
only one your genius, Leave two, rock in the chair,

(09:34):
but not the game. Leave three or more, no reason
to be embarrassed. Try again. Oh isn't that sweet. They
don't want to hurt anybody's feelings. They don't want anybody
to feel them like they're ignoramus, nor do they evidently
want to use the word pretty smart. So, I mean,

(09:55):
that's a small example, but I think it backs up
the woke idea. It's it's a little bit more than
just a rebranding. At this point, five, you would think
they would know by what's happened to bud Light five
to ten. Time for traffic and weather together as we
check out the drive. What's again here, Gary Mack?

Speaker 6 (10:12):
Yeah, sir, starting out slow later all bancer off.

Speaker 20 (10:50):

work week. No rain to slow you down. That's making
your Monday morning drive a little bit easier. That will
change though, starting tomorrow. We've got some wet weather the
next couple of days with this stalled front that's going
to be hanging around the coast today though, blue skies
and a very warm day, one of the warmer days

(11:12):
we haven't had a lot of them, but temperatures in
the mid to upper nineties this afternoon. We will see
a fifty percent chance of showers and storms. Tomorrow and Wednesday.
It gets a little bit cooler, load of mid nineties
tomorrow and then closer to ninety Wednesday, and still about
a forty percent chance of those thunder showers Thursday and Friday.

Speaker 3 (11:37):
Temperature right now, let me double check this. It is
seventy six here at your officials Severe Weather station. The

Speaker 2 (11:44):
It's Houston's Morning News, brought to you by New South
Windows Solutions. Now back to Jimmy Barris and the Houston
Morning News team all the info you need to take
on the day.

Speaker 3 (11:55):
So centrist Democrats are recommending to the progressive left that
if you want to save our party, there's some words
and phrases you need to stop using. You need to
stop using words like triggering or oppression, our cultural appropriation,
or unhoused describe the homeless. You get the idea, So

(12:18):
we'll We'll have a little more on that coming up
in just a moment. First though, at five twenty, Traffic
and Weather Together starts with Gary Max update.

Speaker 6 (12:24):

(12:44):

Speaker 3 (12:47):
Trafficksent from our KTRH top tax defenders twenty four hour
weather Center Sunday today, about ninety seven partley, cloudy tomorrow,
scattered storm chance at fifty percent, ninety three, fifty percent
storm chance on Wednesday with the high rid about ninety
temperature is seventy six. Here at your officials of your
weather station, News Radio seven forty k t RH MIS

(13:07):
Jack mcliff. He's in the newsroom with an update on
some of our top stories.

Speaker 5 (13:11):
And we're brought to you by DN M auto lising.

Speaker 7 (13:13):
We're learning more about why the FBI raided Ambassador John
Bolton's home. A HBDSUV crashes through a front of fence
and lands in a party in a pool in the heights.
The officers hospitalized with a legendjury.

Speaker 5 (13:26):
And did you see this, Jimmy.

Speaker 7 (13:28):
President Trump calls for Roger Clements to be inducted into
the Baseball Hall of Fame. At the latest News anytime
at KTRH dot com. Our next update is at five point.

Speaker 21 (13:37):
Thirty Peace Talk, President Life Sense for everyday.

Speaker 1 (13:40):
Good All the day's happening, growing economy right here, good
things are happenings. Funny US Radio seven KTRHKY.

Speaker 3 (13:49):
Five twenty two, Our time here on Houston's warnings. I
think we're going to have a woe theme today. You know,
Cracker between Cracker barrel and what's this story? So all
supposedly the river going on that bud Light wants to
hire miss Sweeney, you know from her good genes ad
to be their new spokesperson. That one seems pretty obvious

(14:13):
that if I were her, I don't think i'd take
that job. Sidney Sweeney, do not take that job, because
that is too painfully obvious what they're trying to do.
But right now, centrist Democrats are just trying to get
the progressive left to drop all of their patriarchy and
unhoused and you know, birthing persons in all these other
words that they like to use. So let's take a

(14:35):
listen here to some of these words in action on
places like MSNBC in some reaction to it all from
Jesse Waters on the five.

Speaker 21 (14:42):
When the Republicans start there, there will be macro and microaggressions,
there will be overt racist attacks.

Speaker 3 (14:48):
We are voting out in the people who are continuing
these systems of oppression.

Speaker 18 (14:52):
Donald Trump is an existential threat to our democracy.

Speaker 14 (14:56):
Trump's call to immediately clear on how people from the streets.

Speaker 22 (15:00):
DC endanger the lives of all went in and all
burden people in this country formally incarcerated people don't.

Speaker 23 (15:09):
Be a handmade into the patriarchy.

Speaker 24 (15:12):
Yeah, they paint a guy a million dollars to tell
him to talk like Republicans. I mean, what kind of
democrat needs a memo to know how to talk and
know how not to.

Speaker 4 (15:20):
Sound like a moron?

Speaker 24 (15:21):
Because when they talk like that, we laugh. Anyone ever
uses the word unhoused. I know you're crazy, and I
know you're a liberal.

Speaker 23 (15:32):
Why'd you look at Jessica when a glance?

Speaker 24 (15:35):
Even Jessica doesn't even use this stuff. My liberal parents
don't talk like this. This is for the extreme of
the extreme. These are fake phrases that intellectuals use to
sound sophisticated and snobby, but they actually sound ridiculous. Now,
I like the idea of having things that you're not

(15:56):
supposed to say. I live my life. It's kind of
like an axiom don't do certain things, like I don't
do drugs anymore. I don't watch television in my free time.
I don't use ethnic humor on television.

Speaker 1 (16:13):
And these things have gotten me very far.

Speaker 5 (16:15):
But you still talk about women a lot.

Speaker 1 (16:17):
I do.

Speaker 5 (16:17):
I should I add that to the list I make.

Speaker 24 (16:19):
You said, Now, the Democrats, if they start not using
these words, they're gonna start sounding like Judge Janine.

Speaker 1 (16:26):
They're gonna start.

Speaker 24 (16:27):
Saying the black guy, you know, the gay guy, the
illegal alien, Yeah, the homeless guy, he's fat, he's really hungry.
This is great, but it's not what you think it is.
You'd think Democrats would think, Oh, thank god, I'm relieved.
I don't have to sound like a professor. No, they're
going to be incredibly anxious because now they're worried they're going.

Speaker 1 (16:48):
To offend people.

Speaker 24 (16:49):
And they're also concerned with not sounding smart enough, because
at the end of the day, it's really about signaling
you're from the upper intellectual class.

Speaker 3 (16:59):
I think I think he's onto it there. I think
I think he's absolutely right. That's what it is. People,
you know, elite is trying to sound elite. He's what
a lot of that is all about. All right, We
also Hooters, we'll talk. We'll discuss this about ten minutes.
Hooters having an internal battle on how to fix itself,

(17:20):
you know, changing the costumes, changing the menu, what we
need to rebrand too. Hopefully they do a better job
of rebranding than Cracker Barrel did. Right now, five twenty six,
time to take a look at your money as we
check out with the folks at Bloomberg.

Speaker 5 (17:35):
And good morning. Jimmy K.

Speaker 25 (17:36):
Cup and soda maker curing Doctor Pepper is buying the
parent of Pete's brand coffee for eighteen billion dollars. Amsterdam
based JD. E. Pete sells coffee around the world under
more than two dozen brand names. It is the distributor
for Maxwell House Coffee outside the US, and Starbucks will
cut back the hours of operations for the plants that

(17:57):
roast and package its coffee beans. Coffee Company says it
no longer needs to run the plants around the clock
seven days a week, so starting in January, facilities in
five states will switch to five day schedules to cut costs.
The call center software company Varrant Systems may be about
to change hands and be taken private, sources tell Bloomberg

(18:18):
Toma Bravo is close to completing a two billion dollar
deal to a choir Varrant. Bloomberg first got word of
the merger talks back in July, and movie fans streamed
into theaters to see the Netflix release K Pop Demon Hunters,
making it the weekend's number one film. I'm Jeff Bellinger,
Bloomberg Business on News Radio seven forty ktrh.

Speaker 5 (18:42):

Speaker 3 (18:58):
Five thirty is our time Here in Houston's Borning News,
I'm Jimmy Barrett. Among our top stories for this half hour,
John Bolton, Well, he got rated because he sent classified
material to a family member. No progress on more Russia
Ukraine peace talks, and coming up at five thirty eight,
Hooters having an internal battle on how to fix the

(19:19):
restaurant chain. Details in the minutes ahead. You're on Houston's
Bonding News. First we check in with Gary Matt. Yeah,
we're hitting snooze. I can tell sixty ninth East tex
Freeway south bound up around Bush Airport, Well Clayton Parkway

Grand Parkway to the east Loop that jumps to twenty

Speaker 5 (19:48):

Speaker 6 (19:49):
I'm Gary Mack at the UFCAARV Resorts dot Com Traffic Center.

Speaker 3 (19:52):
From our KTRH Generator super Center, twenty four hour weather Center.
Sunday today, with high temperature right about ninety seven, we'll
get Terry Smith in here with the complete four at
about nine minutes. Current temperature is seventy seven and your
official severe weather station News Radio seven forty k TRH.
It's time now for the news. Here's Cliff Saunders.

Speaker 5 (20:11):
Thank you, Jimmy.

Speaker 7 (20:12):
It is five point thirty one on ktri G. Good
morning everyone, our top story.

Speaker 26 (20:16):
Unlike the Biden boj the Biden FBI, our law enforcement
agencies are going to be driven by law and not
by politics.

Speaker 7 (20:24):
Vice President jd Vance on NBC's Meet the Press. We
now know though, why the FBI rated the home of
Ambassador John Bolton. This is reportedly connected to Bolton's sending
classified documents to his family via private email. Bolton was
Trump's National security advisor during the president's first term. Meantime,

(20:46):
still no date for talks between Putin and Zelensky in
Europe and South Carolina Republican Senator Lindsey Graham told Fox,
it's time to put the squeeze on the Russians.

Speaker 27 (20:56):
Do witch have to to security, Ukraine, get security, your agreements.
Food doesn't play ball, crushes economy, tariffs on those of us.

Speaker 7 (21:04):
All and with all of the attention on ending the
war between Russia and Ukraine. North Korea has been busy
and sneaky under the radar.

Speaker 28 (21:13):
It turns out North Korea now has a secret long
range missile base right near the Chinese border.

Speaker 29 (21:21):
Something that President Trump worried about back in twenty sixteen
twenty seventeen. The Biden administration really didn't care much about
North Korea.

Speaker 28 (21:28):
That is national security expert Harry kazianis.

Speaker 29 (21:32):
And now we're in a situation where the North Koreans
probably have at least a dozen or more interconomaballistic missiles
that most likely can strike the United States with a
nuclear payload.

Speaker 28 (21:40):
He says, Trump needs to revisit the Little Rocket Man.
Jeff Biggs, News Radio seven forty, Keith Tiree.

Speaker 7 (21:47):
And in the Middle East, Israel is conducting more operations
in Gaza City to prevent Hamas from coming back and
operating in that area. Now five point thirty three closer
to home eighteen eyes.

Speaker 4 (21:59):
Even his House Bill four is finally passed.

Speaker 7 (22:04):
State Senate passes redrawn congressional maps after killing a filibuster
attempt by the Democrats early Saturday morning. But the first
lawsuit in all of this has already been filed by
the left.

Speaker 30 (22:15):
They are asking the courts for an expedited hearing early
next month so that they can try to get the
map thrown out.

Speaker 5 (22:21):
Before the midterm elections.

Speaker 30 (22:23):
Democrats argue the new congressional districts violate the Voting Rights Act.

Speaker 7 (22:27):
That is Fox's Gartini in Austin. Meantime, Democrats state Representative
James Talla Rico. He's made a name for himself speaking
out against billionaires in politics, but he's taken tens of
thousands of dollars from a billionaire casino mogul. So will
this hypocrisy hurt his political future?

Speaker 31 (22:46):
He's in a Democrat drawn district. I think they'll probably
re elect him. This comes into bigger play if he
tries to make some sort of run for statewide office, though,
because this is the kind of thing that I think
voters across the state don't like to see.

Speaker 7 (22:58):
Tall Rico has been mentioned as a potential candidate for
John Cornyn's Senate seat, Brennan Walton's with the Texas score
Card says Tallerico took as much as sixty grand from
Miriam Adelson. She is the owner of the Las Vegas
Sands casino and the majority owner of the Dallas Mavericks
in the NBA. It's five point thirty four on KHRH.

(23:18):
Looking at your money. Down futures are down one hundred
and nine points this morning. Oil futures are up though,
forty two cents to sixty four dollars and eight cents barrel. Now,
this won't come as a shock to you. More Democrat shenanigans.
The hypocrisy this time is about their climate cause.

Speaker 9 (23:35):
There are growing suggestions that offshore wind energy was given
a pass by the Biden administration when it came to
environmental concerns.

Speaker 32 (23:44):
Will react to that thumping kind of seismic activity.

Speaker 3 (23:47):
Related to win.

Speaker 9 (23:48):
David Holt with the Texas based Consumer Energy Alliance says
this comes at a very bad time for the green
energy world. The Trump administration this month announced an expansion
of tariffs to include imported turbines. In a post to
social media, President Trump called it the scam of the century.
I'm Beth Myers news Radio seven forty ktright.

Speaker 5 (24:10):
Thank you, Beth.

Speaker 7 (24:10):
The local mainstream media sounding the alarm on an estimated
thirty five thousand jobs being lost in the city of
Houston over the last year. What they're not telling you, though,
is that most of those jobs are government jobs.

Speaker 33 (24:23):
At the end of the day, more government jobs mean
more money out of back paired pockets than the private sector.
So fewer government jobs means less money out of their pockets,
and so that can be certainly a good thing.

Speaker 7 (24:34):
Economist doctor Van Skin says all levels of government should
pursue more pro business growth policies like lower taxes and
less regulation in order to create more private sector jobs
for those former government employees. The days of workers hopping
from one job to the next apparently are over. Later
studies show that people are job hugging, and that's true

(24:55):
in Texas as well.

Speaker 34 (24:56):
If you believe that we've hit a in equilibrium now,
that's a lot healthier than say, during part of the
pandemic where it was musical chairs.

Speaker 7 (25:06):
Glenn Hammer with the Texas Association of Business says this
is a good thing for both bosses and workers. Companies,
he says, are more likely to invest in training and
skills development when they know their staff is sticking around
five point thirty six. The Astros losing Baltimore three to two,
they still hold a two game lead on the Mariners
in the Al West.

Speaker 5 (25:26):
They have the day off today.

Speaker 7 (25:27):
They'll start a three game series with the Rockies tomorrow
at dyk In Park. I'm Cliff Saunders on Houston's News, weather,
and traffic station News Radio seven forty k TRH.

Speaker 2 (25:39):
Now back to Jimmy Barrett and the Houston Morning News team,
Houston's Morning News.

Speaker 3 (25:46):
Trying to think what the worst part of this song
is that they they point out the obvious reasons why
men go to Hooters, or that they did it with
ruining a Christmas carol to do it thirty eight our
time here in Houston's forty years a right. Current bosses
of Hooters are having a fight behind the scenes on

(26:08):
how they can pull the place out of bankruptcy, how
they can bring back a family friendly version of the
chain where you don't see a bunch of butt cheeks
hanging out so it's family friendly, because recently they did
make some changes that were actually more towards the adult
crowd and less towards family friendly. So they're having this

(26:28):
internal battle, how do we rebrand, how do we fix
Hooters so that we can appeal to more people. But
the ones they came to us because of certain things
still come because of certain things. For example, the orange
shorts that the waitresses wear. They want to change from
the bikini style bottoms that some locations introduced a while

(26:51):
back to something that's more appropriate, more family friendly. But
to me, you know, to me, the waitresses were always
just a gimmick when you get right down to it,
isn't really about the food unless you're just going to
eat chicken wings and cold beer and watch a football game,
isn't isn't really food the drawing card here, maybe what

(27:14):
they need to be working on is their menu. So
it got me thinking here, I mean, are there companies
that can successfully rebrand? You know, everybody's making a critique
of how Cracker barrels going about things and whether or
not that that's going to work for them or not
work for them. There have been brands, certainly, there have
been brands that have rebranded successfully, right. I know, Apple,

(27:35):
for example, with their whole Think Different slogan in the
early nineteen nineties, they moved away from a computer image
to embrace something a little bit more sleek and simple.
They put a renewed focus on the cutting edge technology,
and it worked for them. Their sales have been down,
they had a resurgence Dunkin Donuts. When they change from
dunkin Donuts to just playing Duncan, that seemed to work

(27:59):
all right for them. People seem to realize they're more
than just a donut shop. They have other things other
than donuts. So here here's my question, not so much,
you know, how do you successfully rebrand that? We didn't
need marketing experts of that, but can you give me
any examples of places that rebranded changed their image and

(28:20):
use either started to patronize them, or they changed their
image and rebranded and you stopped going there because you
didn't like what they did. You know, how has a
rebrand affected the places you go to, the places you
shop at, the places you eat at. You go to
the iHeartRadio app KTRH, you had the talk back button
up the thirty seconds first thame where you're calling from,

(28:40):
and places you either started going to again because they rebranded,
or places you stop going to because they rebranded. Five

Speaker 5 (28:52):

There also possibly something stirring here now forty five Nor

Speaker 3 (29:10):
Traffic Center ktr H Generator super Center twenty four hour
Weather Centner Terry Smith is here for you to fill
in on the forecast.

Speaker 5 (29:17):
No rain chances today.

Speaker 20 (29:19):
No, I don't think we're gonna see much rain. You know,
we might see like a stray shower thunderstorm near the coast,
but I really don't think we're gonna see a whole
lot of rain. We've got some fairly dry air that's
hanging around at the moment, but that will change, of course.
You know, our weather tends to be quite active, and
we've got this weakfront that's going to be hanging around

(29:41):
starting tomorrow in the next couple of days. So I
see some rain at least the possibility of some wet
weather through Friday at this point.

Speaker 5 (29:48):
Now today, I'm.

Speaker 20 (29:49):
Just expecting a mix of sun and clouds and a
summer like day with temperatures mainly mid nineties, but some
upper nineties and spots starting to tomorrow fifty percent chance
of showers and storms load to mid nineties tomorrow fifty
percent chance and more of that raid Wednesday. It's a
little bit cooler, upper eighties to load nineties Wednesday, and

(30:11):
right now Thursday and Friday a forty percent chance of
those afternoon thunder showers will warm it back up into
the load of mid nineties.

Speaker 5 (30:19):
So not a lot of change.

Speaker 20 (30:20):
It justs some of that wet weather kicking back into
gears starting tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (30:25):
Right now seventy seven at your officials Severe weather station
news radio seven forty KTRH five forty eight year in
eustance warning you. So I saw this headline, I said,
oh my god, are you getting headline? Was Earth running
out of oxygen? We're all basically we're all going to
die because Earth is going to run out of oxygen. Okay,

(30:49):
when is this supposed to be here? Here is the report.

Speaker 35 (30:52):
As the Sun's brightness increases, carbon dioxide rapidly diminishes due
to the long term carbon cycle, halting photosynthesis and causing
oxygen levels to drop rapidly. This process leaves Earth's lifespan
at an estimated approximately one point zero eight billion years.

Speaker 3 (31:15):
So NASA's warning us, Hey, we're gonna run out of air.
We've only got one point zero eight billion years left.
Pardon me if I don't worry about that. Yeah, I
don't don't think I'm gonna be around for that one.

(31:38):
And how do they know that's what's gonna happen. They
can't predict the weather next week, let alone predict what
the planet's gonna be like in one point zero eight
billion years. Oh, is this what NASA's doing with their
funding now? Because I think we can find some better
ways to spend the money.

Speaker 5 (31:57):
All right, I.

Speaker 3 (32:00):

Fifty, two now here on The Houston's Morning. News, right
politicians take donations from all sorts of, Places So i'm
always surprised WHEN i hear a politician criticizing other politicians
for taking, donations but especially taking donations from. Billionaires but
that's exactly What Texas State Representative james Tell rico has been.

(33:54):
Doing he's been railing against billionaire influence in, politics, yet
as it turned, out political has revealed he accepted a
fifty nine thousand dollars campaign donation from a pack which
is backed by mega Downer Miriam. Adelson if you don't
know who that. Is Miriam edelson is the billionaire owner

(34:15):
of The Las Vegas Sands hotel In casino and the
majority owner of The Dallas. Mavericks so here we, go
hot Neat. Cattle you're talking about whether Us Brandon walton's
senior Editor Texas. Scorecard you, know it seems pretty obvious
that people are going to find out about. This so
if you're going to be railing against, something best not
do it, yourself.

Speaker 37 (34:34):
Right, Exactly And James, tallerica folks don't, know he's sort
of becoming quickly one of the latest darlings Of Texas.
Democrats it was on The Joe rogan podcast last month
and has been someone who's been very outspoken against you,
know for a lot of left wing, issues but someone

(34:55):
who's been really outspoken about how you, know he claims
billionaires are Running texas, politics and yet you look at
his campaign finance and you know he's receiving money from
some of these billionaires.

Speaker 3 (35:07):
Himself, well my guess is maybe he, thought and a
lot of people do think that they can hide behind the. Pack,
RIGHT i got this contribution from this. PACK i had
no idea that this guy was a part of the.
Pack you complete ignorance when it comes to something like, that, RIGHT.

Speaker 38 (35:22):
I, suppose or maybe just thought nobody would. Look but you,
know it's one. Thing you, Know, LOOK i think people
can have disagreements about what should be done with campaign,
finance but if you're going to be somebody who's out
there and positioning yourself as someone who says they want
to get, moneys you, know influence out of, politics then

(35:42):
you probably should take a look at your own campaign
finance reports before you start doing.

Speaker 3 (35:46):
That, yeah let's take a look here for a second
at this, Guy Miriam Miriam, adelson who owns The Las
Vegas An's, hotel majority owner of The Dallas. Mavericks is
this one of the? Reasons what other causes does this contribute.
To i'm wondering how many politicians that he has in
his back pocket that are against casino gambling In texas

(36:08):
or any other form of legalized gambling here In texas
because of the fact that they've got somebody backing them
who's a casino.

Speaker 37 (36:14):
Owner, well you Know Las Vegas.

Speaker 38 (36:18):
Sands this is a group trying to bring actually casinos To.
Texas sheldon Or Sheldon agelson's, Widow Miriam, agelson runs the.
Pack they have nine million dollars that they're ready to
spend on the campaign elections this. Cycle they spent about
as much last election. Cycle so this is a group
that spends pretty, big at least has in the last

(36:38):
two years In texas.

Speaker 3 (36:39):
Politics, okay but they're pro casino in this particular. Case
but then there's other, ones probably out Of leisiana neighboring,
states right that are Anti texas casinos and don't want
us to have them because they want our business.

Speaker 5 (36:51):
Exactly.

Speaker 38 (36:51):
Exactly you've got all sorts of competing interests the playout like.

Speaker 3 (36:55):
That, yeah it'd be very interesting to. Know i've oftentimes wondered.
Too you, know right, now Ten Governor Dan patrick has
this thing ABOUT thc that just strikes. Me he's over the.
Top you, Know he's been lobbied by all these DIFFERENT
ptsd groups who want to be able to USE thc
in order to be able to deal with the issues

(37:16):
that they're. Having he's vehemently against, it AND i always.
WONDER i always suspect that somebody is somebody who's backing
him would find that to be competition and doesn't want
that to be legal here In texas.

Speaker 38 (37:31):
Well certainly you've seen people make that argument at the point.
Too oh, well you, know if you've received money from
the alcohol, lobby maybe that's what's driving. That. LOOK i don't,
KNOW i can't say what motivates the, push BUT i
think that all these are good. QUESTIONS i think it's
always a good thing when, people you, know can take
a look at the campaign, finance which is all public
records here In texas and they tend to draw their own.

Speaker 3 (37:52):
Conclusions, yeah more transparency when it comes to where those
donations are coming from would be.

Speaker 5 (37:57):

Speaker 5 (49:33):
Think?

Speaker 20 (49:34):
All right so right now it's a wave and it's
making its way through the windward islands Into. The caribbean so,
you know it's South Of, puerto rico south Of The.
Dominican republic it's very weak at, the moment and it's
making its way into an area that is not going
to really be conducive for it to get any. Better

(49:57):
Organized so i'm not real concerned. About it but you
know how we do this time. Of year we still
track these things to see if they do eventually move
into an area where they take advantage of the opportunity to.
Get stronger at, THIS point i don't. Think so and
then we have fernand which is a tropical storm in
the Middle.

Speaker 5 (50:16):
Of atlantic and that's it for.

Speaker 20 (50:18):
The moment so all nice, and quiet which is a
really nice change, of pace because you might remember twenty
years ago We Had hurricane katrina Over the bahamas right
about now and then heading Into.

Speaker 19 (53:00):
Seven forty so you say you want work, life balance
you don't want to, be rich then?

Speaker 13 (53:08):
Do you.

Speaker 3 (53:10):
As most billionaires how they got to, Be billionaires and
they will tell you that they work their. Butts off
they didn't have time for a whole much of anything
else other than doing what they do is. They Do
emil barr is one. Of them at twenty two. Years
old he's an entrepreneur that has two companies worth over twenty.
Million dollars how did you, do it, A, mil.

Speaker 37 (53:31):
Well here's.

Speaker 18 (53:31):
The thing it was, very hard to be perfectly honest,
with YOU and i think that. That's okay we live
in the richest country in the world with the highest
ever historical income. For capita SO what i argued in
my out was that in, today's economy it's actually completely
possible to reach, financial freedom even as early as in your.

(53:53):
Early twenties but you can't do it without being prepared
to make.

Speaker 3 (53:57):
Extreme, Sacrifices right but you're making sacrifices for unlimited amount
of time as long as you're building. These companies once
those companies become the network that, they are if you want,
to retire if you want to if you want to
have your, social life if you want to go off
on vacation a whole bunch, of places then you can
just sell, your Company.

Speaker 5 (54:16):
RIGHT yeah i call it a front.

Speaker 18 (54:19):
Loading success if you can save up ten million dollars
by the time you're, twenty five due to, compounding interest
you will retire. A, billionaire fact if you can even
save up a million dollars by the time that you're
twenty five or half a, million dollars you're still set
to retire with hundreds of millions of dollars by the
time you're, sixty five as long as you don't touch.
That principle so the idea is that to make these

(54:40):
sort of extreme sacrifices for four to five years while,
you're young before you, have kids before you have to
worry about potentially the, rent bill and really just focus
on creating as much financial independence, as possible because time
is actually one of your greatest superpowers when it comes to.

Speaker 3 (54:55):
Making money you strike me as being a whole lot
more mature than you're average twenty two. Year world where
did you develop? That maturity where did these ideas? COME
from i.

Speaker 4 (55:05):
Don't think that's.

Speaker 18 (55:05):
NECESSARILY true i think it's that through the sacrifices of
having to build. A business, I Mean elon musk slept on,
factory floors, You know bezos lipped off a dollar day in.
HIS twenties i THINK that i had to make similar
decisions to build my business and, then ultimately, you know
having to manage ANYWHERE from i think at our peak
it was thirty or forty employees at the. Same time
to make difficult decisions just makes me seem perhaps a

(55:27):
little bit more dated than your typical. College student but.

Speaker 3 (55:32):
You know there's not a Lot Of jeff bezos in.
The world there's not a Lot Of elon musk in.
The world there's not a lot of views in. The
world your average twenty two year old is out there
having a, good time, you, know dating going, to parties,
you know hanging at the, frat house, you know sleeping
ten hours. A day they don't have the ambition you.
OBVIOUSLY have.

Speaker 18 (55:51):
I think a lot of people actually can. Do it
young people have so, many superpowers like being able to
natively use TECHNOLOGY. In ai but, OFTEN actually i think
it's our generation's obsession with mental health and.

Speaker 5 (56:04):
Work life balance holding.

Speaker 18 (56:05):
Us BACK so i think that working hard should, be celebrated,
you know you're being a productive member, of society rather
than demonized and leave that to the social.

Speaker 3 (56:15):
Media comments what are your goals? Going forward how long
do you want to keep doing what? You're doing how
much wealth are you looking. To accumulate how many companies
are you looking? To, Start well i'd like.

Speaker 18 (56:25):
To become a billionaire, by Thirty so i've got a
little bit of time left. To go and THEN really
i want to focus ON something i call, the extinction
which is this idea that you know you're going to
tell your grandkids about animals like polar bears, and elephants
the way we talked about unicorns and. Dragons TODAY so
i don't necessarily plan on stopping, anytime SOON but i
think the message IS that, i could and anyone can

(56:46):
really buckle down and work really hard for the, next
three four or five years and perhaps not develop, an
equivalent but really develop this sense of, financial freedom regardless
of age or where they're at in.

Speaker 5 (56:58):
Their lives do you have.

Speaker 3 (56:59):
Any friends do you worry about? Having friends i'm, With, You, Okay.

Speaker 18 (57:03):
No i've actually made a lot of. GREAT friends i think,
through work AND then i think through shared sort of.
Passionate MISSION so i Can't say i've made too many
friends at, sports BARS but i do have friends that
are other entrepreneurs building, interesting things or other people passionate
about some of the nonprofits and Passionate about so it's
a different type, of Friendship and i'd say. IT'S intergenerational

(57:23):
i have friends, that are, you, know EIGHTEEN and i
have friends that are in. Their FIFTIES but, i actually,
funny enough find myself with a lot more FRIENDS than
I thought, i would ESPECIALLY when i was building my
companies and, you know sleeping three and a half hours
a night and not seeing anyone but.

Speaker 3 (57:39):
My, laptop well and you, know what do you have

About right interest, rates, Up stock, marcus down and if
you Only get munk if you, go downtown Well Said Hank.
Williams junior, all right, now, yesterday well first, of all
the start. With This, on friday the head Of, The Fed,
jerome powell kind of medily mouthed the possibility that interest

(01:24:22):
rates are about ready to, come down kind of tipped
his hand and. Interest rates he may may talk that
interest rates are going to come. DOWN now i don't
know if they come Down, in september but sure sounds
like it's going to happen. Relatively soon, of course he's
been urged to do this for months. Upon Months on
Face the nation over, the Weekend Economist mohammed elliotin was

(01:24:46):
on with The Host, margaret brennan, who's obnoxious, but hey he,
was on and here's what he had to say About
What jerome powell had, to say.

Speaker 48 (01:24:55):
Because he finally pivoted to the risk that matters most
OF the us economy.

Speaker 13 (01:24:59):
Right.

Speaker 48 (01:24:59):
Now now, by Construct the fed has to deliver, two
things maximum employment and. Price stability And the fed is
looking at slightly higher inflation and a weakening. Labor market
And what powell, finally did and many of us feel
he should have done, this earlier is he said the
risk to the employment side is higher than the risk

(01:25:22):
to the, inflation side and therefore an interest rate cut.
Is warranted as, you know many of us felt he
should have cut.

Speaker 22 (01:25:28):
Last, month Well the fed chair said significantly higher tariffs
are remaking the entire global. Trade system tighter immigration policy
has slowed, labor growth and there are big tax and
regulation changes you can't quite quantify at.

Speaker 23 (01:25:44):
This point but it's a lot.

Speaker 22 (01:25:46):
Of uncertainty since economists have to build off of models,
and data how do you predict where we're going if basically,
he's saying throw out.

Speaker 48 (01:25:56):
Your models so one of the problems is he hasn't
looked forward enough and very, data dependent and therefore he
has tended to. Be, late look there is something promising in,
our future and that is productivity enhancement that comes from
exciting INNOVATION, in ai in life sciences and robotics in.

Speaker 5 (01:26:15):
Other area we just have.

Speaker 48 (01:26:17):
To manage a challenging few months in the, period ahead
and if that challenge, is mishandled we will not be
able to get the opportunities that we have that offset
a lot of, structural headwinds and that includes high debt and.

Speaker 3 (01:26:32):
High, deficits okay so basically what we say. About time,
you know we've been talking for months now about, you
know this guy being behind, The Curve jerome paal being
behind the curve on. Interest, rates well he's still going
to be behind. The curve unless there's a rather large interest.
Rate cut it'll Probably be he'll probably be. Very cautious
he seems to be more cautious than. Anything Else so

(01:26:53):
i'm going to Predict in september there'll be a twenty
five basis point or one quarter percent cut in the
interest rate From.

if they are are, you know if they're redrawing to

(01:32:29):
have coalition districts to Get five republicans off the Rolls,
in california then they're gonna be going against the, law themselves.

Speaker 12 (01:32:37):
Aren't, They well california is. Just posturing they have. Handcuffed
themselves they cannot redistrict except every, ten years and it's by,
a committee it's not by. Their legislature so all the
Stuff That governor newsom is talking about is just posturing
and trying to ge himself. On camera he can't do
what he's saying he's.

Speaker 3 (01:32:54):
Gonna, Do okay well he's going, TO try, i guess
and he'll probably look for a. Sympathetic judge but sooner
or later this works its way. Through appeals So The
galveston county case took two years in order to go.

Speaker 5 (01:33:07):
Into effect.

Speaker 12 (01:33:09):
It took two years to get a verdict From The
Fifth circuit Court. Of appeals we lost to the trial,
court level and we knew. We would he was tied
by the decision of A Previous fifth circuit opinion back
in nineteen eighty eight. Or so Campus. Versus baytown but
when we went to the free, judge panel the three judge,
panel said we're bound by our, previous precedent but we.

(01:33:30):
Were wrong please ask for a full court hearing and
called a non. Bank hearing so, we did and the
full court reversed a previous full. Court opinion that's, extremely.

Speaker 3 (01:33:40):
Rare okay and that's as far as. It went right,
after that and nobody pursued it. Any Further the feds
didn't pursue it any further, after.

Speaker 5 (01:33:46):
That to a.

Speaker 12 (01:33:48):
Limited degree they went TO The Us supreme court, and
said would you block? Their IMPLEMENTATION The Us supreme court,
Said no so it did make it To The supreme,
court briefly but they, said no we're not going to.

Speaker 5 (01:33:58):
Block it so it was on their.

Speaker 12 (01:34:00):
Radar momentarily so this now compels everyone under the jurisdiction
Of The fifth circuit to comply with no, coalition districts
and that's also the law in other places around. THE
nation i do think it needs to go To The
supreme court to get finality and have one law standard
Across The.

Speaker 3 (01:34:16):
UNITED states i was going to say at, this point
we really do need to have, that FINALITY and i
would think part of what complicates all this is every
state has and by law can have their own. Election
laws then they can have their own. Redistricting plans they,
you know every state can have, different rules and.

Speaker 5 (01:34:32):
They, do yes.

Speaker 12 (01:34:34):
That's correct but underneath the purview Of The Fifth circuit Court,
of appeals you cannot have a. Coalition, district now.

Is baltimore like most other, big cities especially those run
With a, democrat mayor and most all of, them are
they have a crime problem made worse in fairness by.
The judges but, then again those judges all HAVE a
d next to their, Name too so you as quickly

(01:43:53):
as you arrest. The criminal it's, very frustrating got to
be beyond frustrating to be a police officer somewhere where
the moment you have somebody arrested that you know is
a danger, to society they're going to be let back
out on, the street and until that, cycle changes we're
never going to get out. Of this so you would
think that some of these mayors or governors of, these

(01:44:15):
states instead of being worried so much about losing, their
autonomy would want to keep the citistens safe because if
they keep the. Assistans safe the chances are they're going
to keep. Getting reelected, of course they don't think they
need that in order to be. Re elected they have
a d next to. The thing the Governor, Of Maryland,
wes moore Has Heard president trump threaten To send national Guardsmen,

(01:44:36):
to baltimore that they need help, there too and he's,
not well he doesn't want any part.

Speaker 22 (01:44:41):
Of, it, why though are you so opposed to.

Speaker 4 (01:44:44):
This, deployment well there there's plenty. Of reasons. You, know
one it is.

Speaker 40 (01:44:49):
Not sustainable you cannot continue this type of pace, of
operations particularly when you're when it's costing over a million
dollars a day in order to.

Speaker 4 (01:44:56):
Do this, the second it's.

Speaker 40 (01:44:58):
Not scalable you're not going to be able to do
that in every Single major, american city particularly when many
of the cities that have the highest crime rates are
the places that have actually Deployed Their national Guards, TO.

Speaker 4 (01:45:07):
Washington dc who's going to go to the work in.
Their cities, the third.

Speaker 40 (01:45:11):
It's unconstitutional it's a direct violation Of The. Tenth amendment
and for a party that talks about, state rights it's
amazing how they're having such a big government approach in
the way they're conducting.

Speaker 4 (01:45:20):
Public safety the fourth reason.

Speaker 40 (01:45:23):
Is because it's deeply disrespectful to.

Speaker 4 (01:45:25):
The members Of The.

Speaker 40 (01:45:25):
National guard, you know as someone who actually deployed overseas
and serve my country, in combat to ask these men
and women to do a job that they're not trained
for is just.

Speaker 4 (01:45:34):
Deeply disrespectful and.

Speaker 40 (01:45:35):
So when we're thinking about all of these, lasting factors
when we think about the fact that it serves as
a distraction from the fact That the president's disastrous economic
policies are making everything more expensive for Every, day americans
is making life harder For, everyday americans there is a
multitude of REASONS that i am against THIS and i
will not Authorize The Maryland national guard of utilized.

Speaker 22 (01:45:55):
For, this Well The national guard does say that these
troops will be trained and deputized by, Federal marshals so
this is going to be distinct from the military rules,
of engagement.

Speaker 4 (01:46:08):
But it is counter to every bit of training that.

Speaker 40 (01:46:11):
We've RECEIVED when i joined, the military we joined with
a clear intention to fight and win our. Nation's wars
the members Of Our national guard are trained up to
be able to address things like, emergency situations situations where,
you need where you need a surge of supports for
traumas and disasters that are happening within. Individual jurisdictions that is,
not this and this is a direct deflection That the president.

Speaker 4 (01:46:34):
Is authorizing they're.

Speaker 5 (01:46:35):
Trying to take my.

Speaker 3 (01:46:35):

national guardsmen they could be trained for the war. On
crime absolutely. They can and by, The Way, Saint louis

And children it doesn't, surprise me and they're not always
necessarily looking at the exact Same studies john or interpreting
them the. SAME way i think the point That The
American american College of Obstetrics and gynecology is trying to
make is that during pregnancy it's a state of semi,
immunal compromise and a lot of pregnant women have gotten

(01:49:59):
SICK from covid and, been hospitalized and young children who
have pre, existing conditions there's been issues with them being
hospitalized over two thousand over the course of the pandemic
and since with pre existing conditions MOSTLY and i think
they're looking to see that these remain as tools that can.

Out of McGill in canada that the two sides. Interpreted

Speaker 43 (01:50:52):
Wonder about another Point that kennedy has MADE where i
agree with, them totally which is that big pharma plays
a role here at with deciding what vaccin scenes. ARE
prominent i wrote an article In The Wall street journal
a couple of years ago, about novavax which is a
lot like the, shingles vaccine and that got sidelined because
of all the attention. Paid here and there are other
newer vaccines in older technology that also may. Be useful

(01:51:15):
the ADVANTAGE of mRNA technology is that it can be
created quickly if there's an, emerging pathogen if there's another
pandemic that, came along that's a very, important use as,
is cancer the use for. Cancer vaccines so all of
this could be a. Healthy debate it, shouldn't be in, my,
