Speaker 1 (00:02):
This is used radio seven forty KATI rh Houston.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
Drive Everywhere with ANUE.
Speaker 3 (00:09):
Now the latest news, weather and traffic. It's more of
what matters to you. From the John Morris Services studios.
Speaker 4 (00:17):
Well, good morning, five am. Me is our time. We're
getting started with this Thursday edition of Houston's Morning News.
I'm Jimmy Barrett. Among our top stories this half hour,
the Senate has passed that nine billion dollars in doze
cuts now goes onto the House, the left falling all
over New York City's communist mayoral candidate, and coming up
at five oh eight, Trump says Coca Cola has agreed
(00:38):
to go back to real cane sugar. Details in the
minutes ahead here in Houston's Morning News. First, let's check
out that drive hay Sky Mike when that was scary
all right?
Speaker 5 (00:48):
Uh, East Freeway out bam. Nothing good's happening there. This
is the wreck that's been there since three forty two.
It's a truck involved here. It's taken all lanes here,
so you can't get from the Katie side through to
the Baytown side. They're going to force you off onto
the East tex elevating and then you can do the
golf freeway and jump on the loop pack around the
easiest thing to do, obviously is just think it is
(01:10):
to stay on the six to ten North Loop.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
Go around that way.
Speaker 5 (01:13):
We're not squeezed down at forty five very much this morning. Also,
you could take the South Loop if you're hazardous. I'm
Skymike at your USA RV Resorts dot Com traffic center.
Speaker 4 (01:21):
From r KTRH top tax defenders, twenty four hour weather
center for today. Mix of Sunday clouds otherwise partly clotting
I temperature. Right about ninety five, we'll get Terry Smith
in here, find out more about the blob and get
you the forecast through the weekend. When we talked to
her in about nine minutes. Right now seventy six at
your official severe weather station, News Radio seven forty KTRH.
(01:43):
It's time now for the news. Here's Cliff Saunders, Thank you, Jimmy.
Speaker 6 (01:46):
Good morning everyone, five oh one on KTRH our top story.
Speaker 7 (01:50):
On this vote, the ya's are fifty one, the knaves
are forty eight. And on this vote, the bill is
admitted as passed.
Speaker 6 (01:59):
And while you slip up the US Senate codified nine
billion dollars in DOGE cuts. Only two Republicans voted against it,
usual suspects Susan Collins of Maine, Alaskas Lisa Murkowski. The bill,
which cuts foreign aid programs in PR and PBS, now
goes to the House. Some House members, like Texas's Keith Self,
(02:19):
say this bill was an I brainer and just the
start of the cuts they can make.
Speaker 8 (02:24):
It's one half of one tenth of one percent of
the discretionary spending, which is only twenty six percent of
the budget, So this is this is pocket change.
Speaker 6 (02:34):
Self told Newsmax that the bill sets an important precedent
for cutting federal government spending and fulfilling the DOGE mission.
Five h two now, the President made it official, signing
a bill to crackdown on fentanyl.
Speaker 9 (02:47):
Behalf of all Americans who have lost a loved one
to opioids. We renew our vow to liberate America from
this horrible plague.
Speaker 6 (02:57):
The bill will classify all fentanyl related solubstances as Schedule
one drugs. It includes a ten year minimum prison sentence
for trafficking. While Trump is trying to help save America,
Democrats were busy in DC fawning over socialists Darling, the
New York City mayoral candidates, or in Mendanni.
Speaker 10 (03:16):
At the end of the day, Mndamie represents the worst
of what is the new Democrat Party, a party of socialism.
Speaker 6 (03:22):
Ohio Senator Bernie Moreno on Fox another Democrat, Joe Biden Ate,
Anthony Bernall, apparently took the fifth repeatedly when testifying for
the House Oversight Committee about former President Joe Biden's cognitive health.
Speaker 11 (03:36):
If he said under oath that Joe Biden was not
in mental decline, then there's a very good likelihood that
he's lying, and he knows he's lying, and that can
be proven in a court of law that he's lying.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
That's why they're pleading the fifth.
Speaker 6 (03:50):
Committee chair James Comer says he won't rule out forcing
the Bidens to testifying. Five h four now. No ruling
yet from a federal judge in Tennessee on releasing kill
Lamar Abrego Garcia, the illegal alien gang member who has
had the support of the left in the mainstream media.
If he is released, he could very well be deported again.
(04:11):
Liberal MSNBC is being called out on the carpet after
one of their analysts suggested that illegal aliens carry out
lawful violence against ICE agents.
Speaker 12 (04:23):
The contributor in question is Joyce Vance, who is a
former prosecutor.
Speaker 2 (04:27):
But that's not all.
Speaker 13 (04:28):
She is a law professor at the University of Alabama,
so she is teaching people in the legal world.
Speaker 2 (04:34):
This kind of thing is okay.
Speaker 12 (04:36):
Curtis Hawk with the MRC Newsbuster says this is a
clear example of a push for violence from the left.
Speaker 14 (04:41):
They can talk all they want about lowering the temperature,
but when you talk about lawful violence, there's no other
way to wiggle ows that you are calling for violence.
Speaker 12 (04:50):
How says the violent riots against ICE that we've already
seen are a result of this type of rhetoric. Ethan
Buchanan News Radio seven forty KRH.
Speaker 6 (04:57):
Thank you, Ethan. Don't look down. But another bipartisan m
mcgree bill has been introduced in Congress. The So Cold
Dignity Act allows illegal aliens who've been here for at
least four years to apply for legal worker status. Former
US Immigration judge Mark Metcalf says this is simply amnesty.
Speaker 15 (05:15):
The idea that we create another protected class of individuals
who may or may not be giving us the straight
story on how they entered the United States. When they entered,
what their real identity is creates a whole different set
of problems that we've seen before.
Speaker 6 (05:31):
The bill is co sponsored by Florida Republican Maria Salazar
in liberal Texas Democrat Veronica Escobar. A new map from
the White House shows just how Texans will benefit from
the President's Big Beautiful Bill.
Speaker 16 (05:44):
The map shows about five percent of the state's labor
for us will benefit from no taxes on tips. Kelsey
Erickson Struffert with the Texas Restaurant Association says this will
help so many servers and bartenders who are struggling.
Speaker 17 (05:57):
It helps some of the hardest working throughout the economy.
Speaker 16 (06:01):
Many, she says, will also benefit from a provision and
a big beautiful build that also removes taxes from overtime
and the White House report shows that millions of senior
citizens in Texas will benefit from the no taxes on
Social Security provision. I'm Beth Myers News Radio seven forty
KTR eight.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
Thank you, Beth.
Speaker 6 (06:19):
It is five six. A gunman is dead after a
high speed multi county chase and shoot out with officers
in Galveston.
Speaker 18 (06:25):
The suspect discharged the firearm at the deputy, at which
time the deputy returned fire and continue the pursuit to
and continue to pursue the vehicle into Galveston County.
Speaker 6 (06:37):
No officers were hurt. The National Hurricane Center is backing off.
Development chances for a system in the Gulf now at
thirty percent over the next forty eight hours, and the
astros are off for one more day before they visit
Seattle this weekend. I'll start that series with a five
game lead over the Mariners in the Al West. I'm
Cliff Saunders on Houston's news Weather in traffic station KGRH.
Speaker 1 (07:01):
Protest is not a king.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
Something could happen, shek in all day Oparis Rising lives always.
Speaker 3 (07:07):
So there really is something there on news radio seven KTRH.
Speaker 4 (07:12):
So, President Trump came out yesterday and said that he's
talked to the folks at Coca Cola and they have
agreed to start making coke here in the United States
with real cane sugar instead of high fruitose corn syrup. Now,
if you're kind of going, yeah, so that's how they
(07:33):
used to make Coca cola. That's how they still make
Coca cola in other countries. Have you ever been in
the grocery store and seen displays of those little bottles,
glass bottles of Coca Cola that come from Mexico. Look
at the ingredients on there, sugar, real cane sugar. So
in other foreign countries they don't get their Coca Cola
(07:54):
with the high fruitose corn syrup. The reason why Coca
Cola made the switch years ago was to save money.
It's cheaper to process corn into high fruit toose corn
syrup than it is to use real cane sugar. But
President Trump supposedly is convinced Coca Cola they should go
(08:14):
back to real cane sugar because quote unquote, it's just better,
It's just better tasting. I'll leave that up to you
and for those of you that remember coke with real
cane sugar or if tried it with real cane sugar
versus the high fruitose corn syrup. A Coca Cola spokesperson, however, said,
we appreciate President Trump's enthusiasm for our our iconic Coca
(08:38):
Cola brand, but he didn't say they were going to
do it. More details on new innovative offerings within our
Coca Cola product brains will be shared soon, so it
sounds to me that maybe what Coca Cola is thinking
about doing is both. You can either get it with
the high fruit toose corn syrup the way it is now,
(09:00):
or you can pay more and get the real cane
sugar version. Now, the question is there any real difference
in taste? And again I rely on Coca Cola purists
to tell me that have had both whether or not
you think there's a real difference in taste. But I've
always had always heard that real cane sugar would be
(09:24):
better for you than the high fructose corn syrup. But
all the stuff I've been looking at lately indicates that
your body really doesn't know the difference, and that either
real cane sugar or high fruit dose corn syrup in
excessive amounts caused the same problems, potentially liver problems and
obesity in those types of things. In other words, all
(09:46):
things have moneration, even a high fruit dose corn syrup.
Five ten time for traffic and weather together.
Speaker 5 (09:50):
You know what it is, Jimmy, what an all my
brothers on the East side note, it's Mexican coca is
what it really is?
Speaker 19 (09:55):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (09:55):
Yeah, exactly. You could go to any.
Speaker 5 (09:57):
Like Mom and pop place like El Sola on Waistside,
and you just hey, I want Mexican cocaine. Can you
tell the difference in the taste. Oh, yeah, yeah you can. Actually,
I don't know what it is. It's sweeter, it's it
tastes like coca in the sixties. I had to ask
somebody old what that was like.
Speaker 2 (10:11):
I ten outbound coming out of downtown.
Speaker 5 (10:13):
I want you to watch out here. Well, you can't
get there. What they've done is they've shut it down.
They're forcing you off onto the east text. This has
been in since a quarter till four. It's a truck wreck.
Nothing good's happening there, and I'm hoping it has matched
the reason, but I don't know. So what they're doing
they'll put you on the east text southbound. You cannot
go northbound. Explain that in a minute. So you take
(10:35):
the Gulf around six to ten norths looking pretty good. Now,
if you're doing the eastbound side from TC, Jester Terry said,
your hazard, just jump on the south loop. Here, let's
do a quick tip line hike fifty northbound.
Speaker 20 (10:46):
It's long, discombobulated right now.
Speaker 21 (10:49):
Well, so they got the freeway shut down, they're picking
up the cones or the barrels for the construction at
six ten.
Speaker 20 (10:55):
So are you gonna have to find another way around this?
Speaker 17 (10:56):
Good?
Speaker 5 (10:57):
Good lord, let's okay, thank you so much for that. Hey,
don't forget to tell.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
Me your name? Where are you from? Don't you know?
Speaker 19 (11:02):
Just be proud of.
Speaker 5 (11:03):
Where you're fur me find your fear from Highlands, I'm
in the USA R and B Resorts dot Com traffic center.
Speaker 4 (11:08):
How about Jimmy's blob? Yeah, we'll get to that in
a second. From Mark atrh top tax to Bendors twenty
four are whether center Terry Smith is here, and they
don't do I see they downgraded the blob. I mean
as far as his chances of turning into a tropical
storm or something like that.
Speaker 22 (11:23):
So the highest I recall seeing from the hurricane center
was that there was a forty percent chance, And right
now there's a thirty percent chance of becoming a tropical
depression or some sort of tropical system. Right now, it's
just a broad area of low pressure. It's been tracking
along the Gulf coast and it's still doing that. It's
(11:43):
so close to land that it's chances of doing something
other than what it's been doing are pretty slim. We're
watching it. Here's the thing, and this has been the
thing all along, Terry's thing, Jimmy's blob. The thing is
it's going to bring us rain and perhaps some heavy rain.
And that's mainly tomorrow. Today, no rain, just another day
(12:07):
very similar to what we had yesterday, load to mid nineties.
There is a thirty percent chance of some showers or
thunderstorms late tonight. Some of that moisture from the blob
starts to head our way by late tonight and then
continuing tomorrow, a sixty percent chance of showers and storms,
and then we could get some heavy downpours with some
of those storms. Thirty percent chances of rain Saturday. It
(12:29):
all clears out Sunday and Monday.
Speaker 4 (12:30):
No rain right now, seventy six at your officials, Severe
Weather Station, News Radio seven forty KTRH.
Speaker 3 (12:37):
It's Houston's Morning News, brought to you by New South
Windows Solutions. Now back to Jimmy Barriss and the Houston
Morning News team.
Speaker 4 (12:45):
All the info you need to take on the day.
Five twenty is our time here in Houston's Morning News.
So is Cliff was telling you during the top of
the our newscast yesterday. The I call them a communist,
you can call them the social list, berniing, Bernie Sandy.
Bernie Sanders thinks that he's a socialist, then well, okay,
(13:05):
whatever Democrats socialist to mess one and the same at
any rate, he was in Washington, d C. AOC took
him to d C yesterday. Isn't that nice for a breakfast?
Let's meet a bunch of folks in Congress and he
impressed a whole bunch of them. And Bernie Sanders is
all in? Isn't Bernie Sanders is Jewish right?
Speaker 2 (13:27):
Okay?
Speaker 4 (13:28):
And he's supporting a guy who who is publicly refused
to support Israel, who has who's been very a supportive
of of anti Jewish policies. That that doesn't bother Bernie
Sanders evidently not back with more in a moment. It first,
we've got traffick in weather together, Yes, guy, Mike, So.
Speaker 5 (13:51):
My friend Dan Galla, who's the last A lot of
our listeners know him because he was the last man
in Houston to play real country music on the radio.
Dan just rung in and he said that sugar coke
is way better than corn syrup. Fake coke he's been
buying Mexican coke for a year, but still not better
than doctor Pepper. I smell a topic coming. Let's go
(14:11):
to the it in East Freeway. This is outbound right
out of downtown sixty nine, and that is a truck wreck.
Nothing good's happening there. This is blocking the whole thing.
They're rerouting you now to sixty nine south. Also looks
to me like they're about to start moving you to
forty five southbound, So you have to do either the
pier elevated or the North Freeway. The easiest thing to
(14:31):
get around all this stankery is just get on the
North Loop six ten.
Speaker 2 (14:35):
If your hazardous, take the South Loop.
Speaker 5 (14:37):
I'm Skymike Hitcher USARB Resorts dot Com traffic center.
Speaker 4 (14:40):
From r PTRH top tax defenders. Twenty four hour weathers
under mix of sunny clouds with a high ninety five
for today, scattered showers and storms right about ninety tomorrow,
mostly cloudy Saturday ninety three, partly cloudy Sunday ninety three.
Right now, temperature is seventy six at your official severe
weather station, News Radio seven forty KTRH. Let's get you
(15:03):
caught up in some of Our top trending stories is
to Thursday morning, and Cliff is here.
Speaker 6 (15:07):
Thank you, Jimmy. Their speculation that Texas Democrats could run
away from next week's special session in Austin. A Houston
man who is recovering after being shot while burying a
pet in his Southeast Side backyard overnight. And singer Connie
Francis has passed away. She was eighty seven years old.

Iron Pot of News Today, News.
Speaker 2 (15:38):
Radio seven forty KTRH. Good morning, comrades.
Speaker 4 (15:43):
Today we would like you to meet the future mayor
of New York City. And they brought him in h
Zoran Bondami, who is running for mayor in New York
City making the rounds. You know, aoc oh, he's a
great guy. What do you get a chance to meet him?
We're real people. People don't realize, you know, we're real people. Yeah,
(16:08):
we know, you're really real. So here's some of the
reaction from the left after they had a chance to
have breakfast with him and to meet him. Not all
Democrats are endorsing him. Some of them are still very
very quiet game. Jeffries, for example, is not saying anything.
Some of the old school Democrats aren't saying anything. But
there's plenty of other Democrats who think he's a swell guy.
(16:30):
So here are some the life talking about Mondani and
some reaction to that.
Speaker 10 (16:36):
When people get to know him as a person, when
people get to know us as real.
Speaker 2 (16:40):
People, they what they find kind of surprises them.
Speaker 24 (16:44):
He's bringing anybody who can see the reality of the
success of whose candidacy and his campaign together, it's just
beautiful to have someone who is so authentic.
Speaker 2 (16:55):
You know that money cannot buy that.
Speaker 6 (16:58):
This guy is not a communist.
Speaker 25 (16:59):
He's not a so he's an advocate for a small
ce capitalism.
Speaker 26 (17:05):
And President Trump had some fun with Zorn's bagels and Bolsheviks.
Speaker 2 (17:09):
Yeah, look, he's a communist.
Speaker 1 (17:12):
I don't think.
Speaker 27 (17:13):
Our country is ready for a communist, but we're going
to see.
Speaker 1 (17:16):
And I don't think that race is over yet either.
Speaker 19 (17:18):
You do have a couple of people running.
Speaker 27 (17:20):
Against it'll be an interesting thing.
Speaker 9 (17:23):
Things are coming out about him which aren't good.
Speaker 20 (17:26):
And so Dana.
Speaker 26 (17:27):
The Democrats didn't really have a big red parade. When
they brought him in, they kind of snuck him through
the back door.
Speaker 23 (17:33):
Well, well they and they changed the location right because
Aishah Hasni was ready to go. We were going to
take her live on newsroom and then they're like, wait,
we got to get She's in a different location, so
she had to go. She got there, And the other
thing that they did is that those members that you
saw came out the front door that AOC and mom
Donnie left out the back door.
Speaker 28 (17:51):
Right.
Speaker 23 (17:51):
He doesn't want to take any questions. Debbie No, I
can't remember who was was it Debbie Dingle or maybe
was Prayel Paul who said people just need to get
to know him better and then they're going to like
him better.
Speaker 2 (18:01):
Okay, Well, here's the thing.
Speaker 23 (18:02):
His meeting with business leaders Wall Street guys did not
go well, and that's where he's pledged to stop saying
globalize the Endivada. It wasn't because it was like at
the meeting with the Jewish community at and that meeting
didn't go well.
Speaker 29 (18:15):
For me either.
Speaker 23 (18:16):
So I'm not buying it that the more you get
to know him, the more you actually like him.
Speaker 1 (18:19):
I think that the more you get to know him.
Speaker 2 (18:22):
The more you are may be terrified.
Speaker 4 (18:24):
You know, there's the part of me that things that
he's just what New York City needs, you know, that
they just they need. It's like California, they need to
hit rock bottom. Sometimes you have to hit rock bottom
before you can turn things around and make things better.
Five twenty six. It is time to take a look
at your money as we check in this morning with
Denise PELLOGREENI.
Speaker 30 (18:43):
Yeah, investors are keeping a close eye on the tariff situation,
with President Trump saying he'll send letters to more than
one hundred and fifty countries notifying them their terrorf rates
could be ten or fifteen percent. Stock futures right now
are mixed down futures down sixty eight, SMP futures up
to nesdick futures up two eight, and could be curtains
for IMAX dominance of the large movie screen format. Cinemark,
(19:06):
Regal and others now holding preliminary talks about jointly marketing
their own big screen theaters to compete with IMAX, which
consistently generates more than ten percent of the box office
for blockbusters. I'm Today's Paly Gritty Boomberg. Business on News
Radio seven forty KTRH.
Speaker 2 (19:24):
You are no Houston's News.
Speaker 31 (19:26):
Why there are traffic plus breaking news twenty four to seven.
Speaker 1 (19:30):
This is News Radio seven forty KTRH five Everywhere with IRF.
Speaker 3 (19:36):
More of what's happening now from the John Morris Services Studios.
Speaker 4 (19:40):
It is five thirty here on Houston's Morning News. I'm
Jimmy Barrett. Among our top stories this f are are
Texas Democrats preparing to run and hide over redistricting. Looks
like the blob is going to stay a blob and
coming up at five thirty eight, What you do or
what you can do? I should say if you really
hate AI The drive through details in the minutes ahead.
(20:02):
You're in Houston's Morning News. First, we're checking out that
morning drive once again with sky Mike.
Speaker 5 (20:06):
All Right, this is fatal, Jimmy, this is iten. It's
an accident coming out of downtown Waco Street. They've shut
it down completely. It looks like they're taking you off
now for forty five. I'm going to double check that.
If you could see that better than me, let me
know on your tip line. But we've got the East
Freeway shut down outbound, not inbound at fifty nine.
Speaker 2 (20:24):
That's the truck wreck from three o'clock this morning.
Speaker 5 (20:27):
It's also starting to really mess up the east text northbound.
So the best thing, let's take forty five through town.
If you're going from north to south or east to
west or west to east, weather or you could just
take the loop. Get around that skymike in the USA
Rbresorts dot Com traffic Center.
Speaker 4 (20:42):
From r KTRH Generator super Center, twenty four hour Weather
Center mix of sun and clouds with a high ninety
five to four today. It looks like tomorrow's gonna be
kind of a wet day. Well, we're gonna get some
remnants from that system that is going to drop a
whole bunch of rain on Louisiana. We'll find out more
about that when we talked to Terry Smith at the
Weather Channel in about eight minutes right now, seventy six
(21:03):
at your official severe weather station, News Radio seven forty
k TRH. It's timed out for the news. Here's class sunders.
Speaker 6 (21:10):
Thank you, Jimmy five thirty two on KTRH. Our top story.
Speaker 3 (21:14):
We failed on the number one thing we were supposed
to do, which was deal with property.
Speaker 2 (21:18):
Texas State Rep.
Speaker 6 (21:19):
Brian Harrison on Houston's Morning News yesterday. In the special
session in Austin to deal with those issues starts on Monday.
And just like in twenty twenty one when Democrats ran
away to avoid election integrity, there's talk they could run
away yet again to break horn. So we'll Speaker Dustin
Burrows try to stop them this time around.
Speaker 25 (21:38):
What I see happening is a lot like what happened
last time. This will go on for a while. Burrows
will make some strong statements, ultimately won't do anything because
he wants to be re elected Speaker.
Speaker 6 (21:48):
Former Texas GOP chair Matt Ronaldi now KTRH did reach
out to State Rep. Gen Wu, he leads the House Democrats.
He did not bother getting back to us. He was
too busy in Washington doing a tech hall with Democrat
Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia. Another reason that Democrats may run redistricting
is on the agenda, and with President Trump fully behind
(22:10):
the effort by state Republicans.
Speaker 32 (22:12):
Weallmakers have been tasked with redrawing congressional boundaries, possibly delivering
as many as five new Republican seats in Congress. GOP
political consultant Matt mccoveac predicts we'll be hearing a lot
from the President over the next month as he rallies support.
Speaker 28 (22:25):
I mean, the president hasn't been support in Texas, which
is evidenced by the fact that he won the state
in twenty twenty four, but almost fourteen percent.
Speaker 32 (22:32):
He says, adding five seeds is a bold number. He
thinks it'll be closer to two or three. Special session
starts on Monday. It will include flood relief and a
proposed ban on products containing THHC rex.
Speaker 6 (22:43):
So it's news Radio seven forty KTR eight five thirty three.
Speaker 33 (22:47):
Four.
Speaker 6 (22:47):
Casters at the National Hurricane Center back down from earlier
predictions and they now give a system in the golf
of thirty percent chance of developing. Terry Smith comes along
in about six minutes with more on that. We told
you last week that over a billion dollars in discrepancies
has been found in the twenty eighteen Harris County flood bond,
even as the Flood Control District denies it. Preaching three
(23:09):
Commissioner Tom Ramsey says their overestimation was reckless and it
puts the county in a tough spot.
Speaker 34 (23:15):
Some people say we're two hundred and seventy million over
in our budget. So spending is an issue we got
address at all levels, and in the coming week, I
think you're going to learn a lot more about county
government and what dollars we have and don't have.
Speaker 6 (23:29):
The flood district did not respond to kgrh's request for comment.
A follow up to something we told you about yesterday,
Kirk County residents protests the possibility of property tax increases
after the flooding on the fourth of July. The death
till from the disaster remains at at least one hundred
and thirty four five point thirty four. A bill cutting
(23:50):
nine billion dollars in federal spending passes the Senate overnight
and now goes onto the House.
Speaker 35 (23:56):
The GOP efforts will effectively codify a small portion of
the Department of Government efficiency spending cuts. The Senate and
House must pass the legislation by Friday under an obscure
presidential budget law that's used to circumvent the filibuster, or
be forced to start over at any later date.
Speaker 6 (24:13):
Ashley Stromeyer reporting two Republicans voted against it, Alaska's Lisa
Berkowski and Susan Collins of Maine also in Washington, the
President says it's highly unlikely he'll fire fed chair Jerome Pale,
but it's not like he doesn't want to.
Speaker 27 (24:29):
He's always been too late, hence his nickname too Late.
He should have cut interest rates a long time ago.
Europe has cut him ten times in the short period
of time, and we cut him none.
Speaker 6 (24:42):
Overnight trading, by the way, is mixed, with Dow Future
down seventy one points as the Dow gain two hundred
and thirty one in trading yesterday. Bank of America reported
mixed earnings in the second quarter, missing expectations on what
they call net interest income.
Speaker 36 (24:59):
Simply put, it's the difference between the interest that a
bank earns from its loans, mortgages, et cetera, and the
interest a bank has to pay out on consumer deposits.
Speaker 6 (25:09):
KTRH Moneyman says banks, but rather patchings as banks are
feeling squeezed. We have told you that the Biden policies
sent car prices soaring in the early twenty twenties. Farmers
are now dealing with Biden related sticker shock as well.
Speaker 37 (25:25):
For tractors, tractor prices have a spiked as much as
sixty percent and six years and after production cuts from
the manufacturers, they're heading up again now.
Speaker 21 (25:33):
More than ninety five percent of our nation's farms and
ranches are family owned, and those economics are tight right now,
and equipment costs come into that equation.
Speaker 37 (25:41):
Garry Joyner with the Texas Farm Bureau says, farmers a
very little leeway to pass their expenses on. But we
may still see those increases at the supermarket.
Speaker 21 (25:49):
Not a one to one relation, and it doesn't follow
it exactly, but increased costs of production will be reflected
in the cost of higher goods.
Speaker 2 (25:57):
Garry says.

equipment for as long as they can. Charles Mallin on

Speaker 4 (26:31):
You know, I wouldn't mind. Sorry my David a bean burrito.
I think my co workers my mind though if I
did that. Thirty eight is our time here in Houston's
morning News. I don't really think of Taco Bell as
a breakfast place, although they do have kind of breakfast items.
You know, if you're like that did. They remain relatively
cheap compared to a lot of places, which I think
is the key to their popularity. One of the things
(26:52):
they've done, though, that evidently is upset a few people,
and I'm not one of them, is they've installed artificial
intelligence at their drive throughs. So when you pull up
to the menu at Taco Bell and it gets your order,
that that voice your hearing. I don't know if they
(27:12):
made the switch at all their drive throughs, but chances
are pretty good the voice you're hearing is artificial intelligence.
It's not a real person. And one of the reasons
why you know that is because you can understand them.
Is welcome to Taco Bell, man, I take your order please.
I mean that that distinct that clear versus pipe, that
(27:35):
kind of a thing that muffled or really thick accent
or or something else. I suspect that one of the
reasons why they went to the artificial intelligent thing is
because if you take a look at your typical fast
food worker these days, we have there's a lot of
young Hispanic workers and other minority groups, and sometimes especially
(28:01):
older people have a hard time with accents. They have
a hard time figuring out what somebody is trying to say.
And let's face it, for some of these workers, English
is not their first language. So the way around that
is to install artificial intelligence that has a clear, distinct voice.
So I don't have any problem, but I do understand
there are people who do have a problem because hey,
you're taking you're potentially taking away somebody else's job. We
(28:21):
don't like the advance of artificial intelligence. So for those
of you who feel that way and you would like
to talk to a real person next time you go
to Taco Bell, it's really quite simple.
Speaker 38 (28:32):
Year one thousand waters, Did I leave to a team?
Speaker 2 (28:39):
Then there's a UK pop?
Speaker 1 (28:42):
Yeah, can I get the rockstar.
Speaker 2 (28:46):
Fresca?
Speaker 4 (28:47):
Do you see what he did there? You see what
he did? He ordered one thousand waters and the Office
of Intelligence goes, WHOA, let me get your team member,
and the team members step right in. So if you
want to, if you're real person, that you order something,
and this is probably true of any AI in any
fast food, you order something that is impossible for AI
(29:08):
to fulfill. I would like fifty thousand tacos please, or
or something really crazy and you'll get a real person
five forty. Time for traffic and whether.
Speaker 2 (29:16):
To try that with Center Point Energy.
Speaker 4 (29:18):
Oh that might be fun.
Speaker 2 (29:19):
Maybe it'll get me through.

Speaker 4 (29:26):

I think I did go to India.
Speaker 2 (29:35):
No, I think they.
Speaker 5 (29:35):
Actually weren't from America. Really, but it took over an

Center Point Energy Press one, Press two. We're gonna out

That's a heavy truck accent. All lanes are blocked. I'm

really think this is going to be throughout the morning.
It's a truck in a much smaller vehicle. So what
they'll do is they'll re route you through forty five southbound.
You can take the Golf Freeway, take the Loop, we'll
go back up. The easiest thing is to go ahead
and take the North Loop six ten. We're not bad
at the squeeze the other way eastbound. Also, the south

Loop for those of you hazardous, is probably your best route.
Speaker 2 (30:21):

it's not going to get here, I guess we're still
going to get some rain from that come tomorrow.
Speaker 20 (30:49):
Right.
Speaker 22 (30:50):
Yeah, we're seeing an increase in the moisture as it
moves its way westward, and there's quite a bit in
the way of showers and some thunderstorms on the side
and south side of it, and it's drifting westward, so
some of that's going to be making its way into
our part of town later on tonight, tomorrow, for part
of tomorrow night as well. So yeah, a little bit
(31:12):
of Right now. Today, it's dry, and our temperatures are
going to be very much like what we've had the
last couple of days, load of mid nineties. A thirty
percent chance of showers and some thunder later tonight, and
then sixty percent chance of thunder showers tomorrow. Temperatures tomorrow
a little bit cooler in the upper eighties to low nineties,
but then the rain tapers off some Saturday. We still
(31:36):
have a thirty percent chance of getting wet Saturday, Sunday, Monday,
just sunshine. Temperatures will be back up in the load
of mid nineties through the weekend.

Speaker 4 (31:57):
So there's a bipartisan bill that's been proposed from a
Texas Republican and a Florida Democrat or is it the
other way around? One Democrat obviously by Parson, one Democrat,
one Republican, and the bill would provide I guess the
Republicans from Florida that's Maria Salazar and Veronica Escobar is
(32:18):
the Democrat from Texas. So there I have set that straight.
But the bill would grant certain undocumented immigrants legal status.
So who are these undocumented immigrants? What kind of legal
status would they receive. We'll talk more about that with
Mark Metcalf, former US immigration judge, in just a moment.
(32:40):
But first we've got traffic and weather together, starting with you, Skymike.
Speaker 2 (32:43):
We've shut down it out of downtown.
Speaker 5 (32:45):
That's right back to sixty nine eastbound outbound going toward

Speaker 4 (33:46):
This bipartisan bill is not about letting in. It's about
allowing people to stay in this country. Mark Metcalf, former
US immigration judge, joins US bipartisan bill. Mark it would
it would take certain undocumented legals and allow them to stay.
I assume that we're talking about farm workers and in
other areas where there's a real concern that we could
(34:08):
end up with the shortage, if we end up deporting
everybody who's here illegally.
Speaker 19 (34:13):
Well, this is nothing more than mass amnesty. Jimmy, We've
seen this before. In twenty thirteen, there was a called
Comprehensive Immigration Reform Bill in provisions in many cases in
which people were going to be allowed to remain in
the US without any idea of when they entered, and
(34:34):
without any what we would call objective measures by which
to say when they entered, how long they had been here,
and the proof that was going to be accepted by
USCIS the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services would have
been nothing more than someone else who we don't know
anything about, verifying that the person had entered before, in
(34:55):
this case, before twenty twenty one, in other words, before
Joe Biden let more than ten million aliens enter the
United States without US knowing much about them. So this
is a repeat. We've seen it before. I don't think
this will make its way through Congress for the same
reasons the twenty thirteen Comprehensive Immigration Reform Bill did not
(35:17):
survive well.
Speaker 4 (35:18):
This one does not provide for a path that this citizenship.
It's a for a seven year period. I know what
happens after seven years they renew it again, or you
have to leave after seven years or whatever. The story
is there, But do you still think it qualifies as amnesty.
Speaker 19 (35:34):
Yes, this is an amnesty by another name. This is
nothing more than an attempt to allow people to remain
in the United States. And again, we don't know when
they entered, we don't know how they came in. They
were unvetted, and we're now saying despite all of that,
we're going to allow these people to enter and claim
what would be called a parole status. The United States
(35:57):
is very generous to begin with three million new citizens
each year, one point three new million new lawful permanent residents.
We have what are called parole in place for a
legal aliens who've been in the United States and have
a child in the United States military. We are a
very generous nation, but we've been taken advantage of almost
(36:18):
at every step, especially under the Bide administration. So I
don't trust this bill. I don't think it does I
don't think it would accomplish what these sponsors are at.
I think it's another step towards amnesty and nothing more.
Speaker 4 (36:34):
Okay, if we can all agree that our immigration system
is broken and it needs to be fixed, is there
a plan that we can agree on that everybody can
agree on that makes sense as far as fixing the
immigration problem that we have in this country.
Speaker 19 (36:50):
Yes, the answer is yes. First of all, you secure
the border, in other words, you contain the problem. Then
following that you begin to work your way through this population.
We have what are called permissions to stay. It's called
an application for a waiver of unlawful presence and it's
(37:11):
used by the hundreds of thousands every year in the
United States for aliens who fit that description. Now that's
how you start this thing off, and then you can
start reviewing these applications that many people don't want to
be reviewed. They don't want to come forward. What they
want to do, however, is stay, and when they get caught,
then they the ask for the kind of relief that
(37:34):
would be contained in this legislation we've been discussing. But
this is rife with fraud. We don't know who they
were before they come forward, we don't know when they
came in, and none of this usually can be proven.
So we have to accept under most of these bills
a verified statement by someone We also don't know when
(37:54):
they entered. This is not a good piece of legislation.
Speaker 4 (37:58):

The bill, which cuts foreign eight programs, PBS and NPR,

Maine Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska. The bill
is a win for President Trump, who is finding some

Speaker 20 (40:27):
It's all been a big hoax.
Speaker 27 (40:28):
It's perpetrated by the Democrats, and some stupid Republicans and
foolish Republicans fall into the net, and so they try
and do the Democrats work.
Speaker 6 (40:38):
That was Trump at the White House, but some of
his biggest supporters think he should just move on from
the whole thing.
Speaker 4 (40:43):
I don't understand why he keeps talking about it.

ICE agents might be justified.
Speaker 13 (42:42):
It's disturbing to think that Joyce Vance used to be
a US attorney, someone with charging powers, has this idiotic,
hair brained view of the law.
Speaker 6 (42:55):
Curtis Hack with NewsBusters says, what's really concerns him is
that Vance is a law professor, which means she could
be influencing the next generation of attorneys. And then there's
this another bipartisan immigration bill is introduced in Congress, and
that should make you nervous.
Speaker 42 (43:11):
Florida Republican Maria Salazar in Texas Democrat Veronica Escobar are
co sponsoring the so called Dignity Act which allows illegals
who came here before twenty twenty one to apply for
legal worker status. Former US immigration judge Mark metcalfsas programs
like this are rife with abuse.

How do you approve you've been in the US since
twenty twenty one?
Speaker 2 (43:30):
Who are your witnesses?
Speaker 20 (43:31):
Where are you getting your documents?
Speaker 15 (43:33):
The fraud involved in these kinds of programs is one
of the biggest obstacles.
Speaker 2 (43:37):
I can tell you right now.

It's an amnesty and enforcing disappears.

That's a different kind of fifth, A little fifth of

we had another Biden aide pleading the fifth Actually this
is uh, you know, I guess he was kind of
referred to as Jill Biden's house husband. Yeah, top aid
(45:44):
to Jill Biden, not to to the President, but to
the first lady. And he was called in to testify.
His name is Anthony Bernall. He was called in to
testify in front of Congress on the mental acuity of
former President Joe Biden, some of the things he saw
in the White House. Here's how that went.
Speaker 43 (46:03):
Did you ever advise President Joe Biden to pardon his
son Hunter Biden?
Speaker 44 (46:07):
On the Adviceive Council? I respectfully declined to answer the question.
Pursuing too my Fifth Amendment rights under the Constitution?
Speaker 43 (46:13):
Was President Joe Biden fit to exercise the duties.
Speaker 20 (46:16):
Of the President?
Speaker 44 (46:17):
On the Adviceive Council, I respectfully declined to answer the question.
Speaker 43 (46:20):
Did President Joe Biden ever instruct you to lie regarding
his health at any time, including, but not limited in
your testimony to Congress today?
Speaker 44 (46:29):
On the Adviceive Counsel, I respectfully decline to answer the question.
Speaker 4 (46:32):
You get the idea every question it was answered that way.
So are we ever going to get any answers on
this stuff? Or is everybody who comes in going to
plead the fifth? At some point? The only way you
get answers, I guess is to provide some immunity to
people in order to be able to tell the truth.
Here's the National Reviews Rich Lowry. Yeah, it's pretty extraordinary.
Speaker 45 (46:52):
My assumption was that they just lie or dance around
such questions.
Speaker 6 (46:58):
I never imagined they'd.
Speaker 45 (46:59):
Take the sith. But here we are. Usually not a
great sign about your health if your doctor feels compelled
to take the fifth. And those those two questions are
incredibly telling, right that he doesn't feel comfortable answering those.
And on the auto pen controversy, you know, Biden does
this interview with.
Speaker 2 (47:14):
The New York Times.
Speaker 45 (47:15):
Kind of extraordinary that he didn't do an interview with
the New York Times his entire presidency.
Speaker 2 (47:19):
Donald Trump, who hates New York Times.
Speaker 45 (47:21):
It's on the phone with Maggie Haberman and the New
York Times journalists all the time. But in the course
of that interview, it was damning right he didn't approve
individually these people he approved broad categories, So I think
there's there's a legitimate question about whether those pardons are
indeed legally valid. Well, but the ultimate play, though, right
(47:42):
is transparency and just knowing the truth that what was
a conspiracy against the public interest so that you just
just want to want to get it out. You know,
I don't think democrests are ever going to fess up
to what they did. And what's his name, Andy Basheer,
the governor of Kentucky, was on Meet the Press last weekend.
(48:02):
He wasn't part of this conspiracy, wasn't close to the
White House, asked you know, we're Democrats to secret about this,
and didn't acknowledge the truth soon enough, and he just
he wouldn't say it.
Speaker 2 (48:13):
None of them will say it.
Speaker 45 (48:14):
So obviously you got some journalists who dug in, Jake
Tapper and Alex Thompson and Comber's doing good work here.
Speaker 4 (48:21):
Okay, Well, I'm not going to give Jake Tapper any credit.
I mean he and all these other journalists who in
forward politicians who have written book that they knew about
this all along. Are you good? Here's my question. Are
you going to say maybe we should maybe we should
do a question of to day on this one. Are
you going to settle for when it comes to things
like the Epstein files and this auto pen cover up?
(48:44):
Are you going to settle for transparency or do you
want punishment? Do you want to see people go to jail?
Do you want them punished to the fullest extent of
the law. To answer the question, you go to the
iHeartRadio ab KTRH. You hit the talk back button. You
get up to thirty seconds. First name where you're calling from.
Will you settle for transparency or do you want punishment?
(49:06):
Six eleven. Let's do a little traffic and weather together
and check out a guy make.
Speaker 5 (49:09):
We already have some great talkbacks on the free iHeartRadio
app too. Remember you can hit us on the tip
line for traffic seven one three.
Speaker 2 (49:16):
Two one two t ips.
Speaker 5 (49:19):
Let's go right downtown Rick from the east side, Dude, morning.
Speaker 7 (49:22):
Sky Might I just passed that shut down on it
in eastbound at Waco and I don't know how they
do it, but it looks like it's already starting.
Speaker 20 (49:30):
To move again. Dude.
Speaker 5 (49:31):
That that is blowing my mind because usually when they
have one of those, you know, fatal accidents. I was
an eighteen wheeler here in a smaller vehicle, it's usually
four or five hours. But I'm looking from playing the
home game ten oh six. I'm not seeing anything blocked anymore.
They had the whole thing shut down. I don't know
for now. Let's keep taking the loop. I'll bet that
(49:52):
the twenty break we're going to know something here north
northwest side. It's Robert to ninety at Roberts Road.
Speaker 34 (49:59):
Something up two ninety outbound traffic is due to oversized load.
Speaker 19 (50:03):
All lines are his dead stocks.
Speaker 5 (50:05):
Oh good lord, Robert from Crosby's coming in from the
working side nineties, looking good.
Speaker 21 (50:09):
You got like the duke tackle bell to open up.
Speaker 2 (50:13):
No, no, no, Your.
Speaker 14 (50:14):
AI speak crackheads.
Speaker 30 (50:17):
The five pass food our crackheads that ride bicycles.
Speaker 19 (50:20):
So the AI there does speak crackhead you.
Speaker 2 (50:24):
Okay, that's nice.
Speaker 5 (50:25):
Robert's already on double secret approbation. We are not you
were not just sparging communities.
Speaker 20 (50:30):
So that's my job.
Speaker 5 (50:31):
I'm in the USA r V Resorts dot Com Traffic

twenty four hour weather Center.
Speaker 4 (50:38):
Terry Smith is here ninety three l does Helbau stand
for loser? Because that that that blob is not doing
the dog gone thing it's going. It's it's just gonna
dump a bunch of rain, isn't it. L is for losers?
Speaker 22 (50:54):
Oh? Yes, ninety three l UH is not doing much
except just bringing a lot of rain and making its
way very slowly westward. Right now, the bulk of the
wet weather's over Louisiana. Some of that's going to be
making its way into our part of Texas, I think
more so later tonight and tomorrow and even part of Saturday.
(51:16):
But because it's been interacting with land the whole way,
from the time it was on the east coast of
Florida across the peninsula, and it's just been dragging itself
along the northern part of the Gulf. Well, it's that
you're not going to see conditions that would allow it
to really get better organized. So that's okay. We're okay
(51:36):
with a lack of organization in this particular case. But
get ready for the rain. No rain today, load to
mid nineties, thirty percent chance of showers and some thunder
late tonight, sixty percent chance of showers and storms tomorrow.
Now we could see some heavy rain with some of
those storms upper eighties to low nineties tomorrow Saturday. Just
a few showers of thirty percent chance of rain Sunday
(51:57):
and Monday.
Speaker 4 (51:58):
We're dry right now at your official severe weather station,

You're starting your day right with Houston's Morning News, brought

Speaker 4 (52:13):
Six twenty is our time here in Houston's Morning News.
Coming up here in just a couple of minutes, we're
going to talk to a guy by the name of
James Sticky's a former Texas GOP chairman.
Speaker 2 (52:21):
In case you didn't.
Speaker 4 (52:22):
Know that, we have a special session coming up. One
of the big items on the agenda is redistricting. You
know what happens there in Texas when you try to redistrict,
especially when Republicans are in control, right the the Democrats
head for the hills, Well, that happen again. We'll talk
to James about that next, but first we've got traffic
(52:44):
and weather together in short. Go ahead, Scot Mike it.
Speaker 5 (52:47):
I can't believe they cleared a fatality wreck that fast
on it in east outbound at Waco. Jennifer from TV
and I are just scratching our heads now, but they have
reopened the lanes. Now we've got to stall. Don't worry
about it, to stay the course. It is messing up
the canyon northbound. We'll talk up the six thirty break
in the USA RV Resorts dot Com traffic Center.
Speaker 4 (53:06):
From r KTRH Top Tax Defenders twenty four hour Weather Center.
We're looking at partly cloudy skuys today well mostly Sunday two.
Partly cloudy ninety five for the high temperature, scattered showers
and storms about a sixty percent chance tomorrow ninety Saturday
partly cloudy with a couple of showers in storms ninety three,
and then back to mostly Sunday to partly cloudy on Sunday.
(53:26):
Temperature currently is seventy five at your official severe weather station,
News Radio seven forty KTRH. Time to check out some
more of our top stories here on a Thursday morning.
Here's clip.
Speaker 6 (53:38):
Thank you, Jimmy. We are sponsored by National Land Partners.
The President goes all in on Texas redistricting. The DOJ
has fired Maureen Coomy James sound familiar. She's James Comy's
daughter and worked on both The Diddy and Jeffrey Epstein
cases and on this day in nineteen forty one, Joejumaggio's
fifty six game hitting streak ended. That record has never broken.

I live in Southeast Houston.
Speaker 3 (54:07):
Your forecast is at the bottom of the hour on
seven forty KTRH.
Speaker 20 (54:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (54:14):
Well, that's kind of standard operating procedure here in Texas
for Democrats when it comes to something like redistricting, run
for your lives, run to the hills. If they can't
get a quorum, they can't take a vote. James Sticky
joins us former Texas GOP chairman. Here we go with
redistricting again, mister Dickie. Do you think the Democrats run
for the hills?
Speaker 20 (54:33):
Boy?
Speaker 46 (54:34):
Unfortunately, lately Democrats have been way too predictable, and I
would I think there's a lot of money on them trying,
which is why we're hearing things like the Attorney General
yesterday saying that he would push.
Speaker 20 (54:50):
For he would push for a rest if they did so.
Speaker 46 (54:54):
And of course we all know the ranger who would
be spending some time going after them if they if
they try this foolish thing that doesn't work again and again.
Speaker 4 (55:04):
Well, and that's the bottom line, isn't it. I mean,
if that's your strategy, it's never worked before. All it
has done is delay things so and giving you bad prs.
So what's the point of doing it the same old
thing again.
Speaker 46 (55:18):
Yeah, but you look at National Democrats and they're the
ones putting the pressure on Texas Democrats and Texas Democrats
they just keep pushing for policies and plans that eighty
ninety one hundred percent of the voters hate. And so sadly,
(55:40):
the fact that it's a terrible idea and doesn't work
isn't necessarily.
Speaker 20 (55:46):
Going to mean that Democrats aren't going to try it. Sadly.
Speaker 4 (55:49):
Well, here's the part I don't understand. If I were
a Texas Democrat, I think I'd be saying to the
National Party, hey, listen, look in the Texas House, we
pretty much get our way. We've got this little system
worked with some of the rhinos so that you know,
we can avoid these issues that we really don't want
to deal with. Let's just go ahead and play that game,
because that game's working.
Speaker 46 (56:11):
Yeah, and yet in this session we did get a lot.
Speaker 20 (56:16):
In this regular session.
Speaker 46 (56:17):
We got a lot of fantastic conservative things through, and
this special session the governor who's put amazing things on
the call. Not redistricting is on because the Department of
Justice said, we'll assue you if you don't put it
on there. But the flood relief, the disaster relief that
we all know we need, that's there. But also banning
(56:41):
taxpayer funded lobbying that's on there, which we have needed
for a long time. And the Governor made sure was
on that call. Making sure that the Attorney General has
right to prosecute election fraud, that's on the call. So
there's a lot of great conservative stuff that will happen
when this session happens. And I say win because it's
(57:05):
only it's only a question to win. And don't forget
that the House actually passed new rules that the members
who do flee now, for the first time ever, could
face the reprimands, censure, expulsion, even and five hundred dollars
per day fine.
Speaker 20 (57:23):
For their absence.
Speaker 46 (57:25):
So the penalties that the House is imposing on House
members who would do such a thing, it's much bigger
than it's ever been before.
Speaker 20 (57:33):
And that may be the one thing that prevents them
from from doing.
Speaker 46 (57:37):
This and allows us to actually get these great conservative policies.
Speaker 4 (57:42):
All right, sir, we will soon see. Thank you for
your time. James Dickey, Forward, Texas GOP chair at six
twenty six. It is time to take a look at
your money as we check in again A Denny spell Agreeny.
Speaker 30 (57:52):

training jobs and worried about tariffson saying again that it
might have to increase prices. Stocks are mixed as President
Trump threatens those ten to fifteen percent tariffs on more
than one hundred countries. Down futures are down seventy five

run and hide over redistricting and coming up at six
thirty eight, would you leave your partner for one million dollars?
Details in the minutes ahead. You're in Houston's Warning News. First,
(59:11):
let's check out that morning vibe. Here's sky Mike.
Speaker 5 (59:13):
All right, So we cleared that problem downtown. It is
confirmed that was strange. It was a fatality wreck at
three forty two this morning.
Speaker 2 (59:20):
Usually those things hang around for four or five hours.
Speaker 5 (59:23):
This is ien at Waco Street on the outbound side,

Speaker 6 (01:00:10):
Thank you, Jimmy six thirty one on KTRH. Our top
story this hour.
Speaker 19 (01:00:14):
Are you calling home.
Speaker 5 (01:00:15):
For a complete redrawing of the congressional map, and just
a very simple redrawing, we pick up five seats.
Speaker 6 (01:00:21):
President Trump has his eyes on next week's special session
of the state Legislature, wanting lawmakers to redraw our congressional districts.
Speaker 28 (01:00:29):
All think this would be happening without President Trump and
his team in the White House really pushing this GOP.
Speaker 6 (01:00:35):
Political consultant Met Mkobeac says five is a bold number.
He thinks in the end Republicans will gain two or
three seats. So now the question is how far will
House Democrats go to stop the Republican.
Speaker 12 (01:00:48):
Chances are they'll try to deny a quorum like they
did in the last special session.
Speaker 25 (01:00:52):
I think they absolutely will, at least House Democrats will.
I don't think Senate Democrats will.
Speaker 2 (01:00:56):
Because they know they can't get away with it in
the Senate.
Speaker 20 (01:00:59):
They will, and how.
Speaker 12 (01:01:00):
Former Texas GOP Chairman Matt Rinaldi says House Speaker Dustin
Burroughs isn't likely to do anything to stop them.
Speaker 25 (01:01:05):
Dustin Burrows was elected with more Democrats than Republican. He's
not going to take his voting base and have them
arrested and bring them back in.
Speaker 12 (01:01:14):
We reached out to Democrat Caucus Chairman Gen Wu about
their plans for the session, but he didn't respond. Ethan
Buchanan News Radio seven forty ktris as for.
Speaker 6 (01:01:21):
Why Wu didn't talk to us, Well, he was in
Washington yesterday doing a town hall with Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia
six thirty three. Four Casters at the National Hurricane Center
have given a system in the golf a thirty percent
chance of development. That is down from forty percent yesterday
or with Terry Smith coming up in seven minutes. The
Harris County Flood Control District is now denying claims of
(01:01:45):
a billion dollars worth of flood bond discrepancies.
Speaker 2 (01:01:48):
They claim they over budgeted. But that doesn't make sense.
Speaker 34 (01:01:51):
You should let let us know what the exact costs are.
Best you can give and when you tend to give
and flighted not he calls great painting.
Speaker 41 (01:02:02):
Mister Tom Ramsey says transparency will be more evident moving forward.
But instead of figuring it out, Judge Hidalgo would rather
use money to go on trips.
Speaker 34 (01:02:11):
I would think you'd be working twenty four to seven
trying to sort through what projects we're gonna do, how
we can get the most bang out of what dollars
we have left.
Speaker 41 (01:02:20):
The Flood Control District did not respond to our request
for comment. Andre Perard News Radio seven forty KTRH.
Speaker 6 (01:02:26):
And just like that, Harris County Judge Lena head Doggo's
potential campaign war chest grows by more than a half
million dollars. That money, according to reports, came from legal
services refunds Dogo has yet to actually officially announce that
she's running next year. Six point thirty four on KGRH,
a bill cutting nine billion dollars in federal spending past
(01:02:50):
the Senate while you were sleeping.
Speaker 47 (01:02:52):
This nine point four billion dollar bill claws back unspent
federal funds. Focused heavily on four and eight in public
podcasting including NPR. Passed the Senate largely the party line vote.
Every Democrat voted against it except one who is ill
and had.
Speaker 1 (01:03:07):
To go to the hospital.
Speaker 47 (01:03:08):
Mitch McConnell was a yes after voting against it in
the first two procedural rounds. There were two Republican no
vote centers, Collins and Rakowski from Maine in Alaska respectively.
Speaker 6 (01:03:19):
Lucas Tomlinson reporting the House now has the proposal. The
President told reporters yesterday he probably won't fire FED Chair
Jerome Pale Senate Republicans, though would like to see it change.
Speaker 33 (01:03:30):
Ultimately, the President probably will make that decision based on
what he thinks the market, how the markets will react,
and I think that's the correct well. I mean, I
think the markets want an independent federal reserve. I think
they want a central bank that isn't subject.
Speaker 6 (01:03:41):
To the whims of politics, that is, minority the majority
leader rather John Thune looking at your money. Overnight trading
is down, at least as far as dout futures are concerned.
That was after a two hundred and thirty one point
gain yesterday. Bad news for banks could be good news
for you if you use them. Of course, Bank of
arcistocktic of beating because it reported making less profit than expected.
(01:04:04):
In what's being called net interest.
Speaker 37 (01:04:06):
Income, banks take in interest money from loans, mortgages, and
credit cards, and pay out interest to people who put
money in the bank.
Speaker 2 (01:04:12):
The difference is.
Speaker 36 (01:04:13):
Net interest income banks are having to pay out more
to keep customer deposits.
Speaker 37 (01:04:18):
KGRH moneyman Patchen says banks are feeling squeeze because interest
you could earn outside a bank from say, government bonds,
is still relatively high.
Speaker 36 (01:04:26):
That area of the market still looks okay before we
see FED rate cuts. Remember, you can loan your money
out right now to the US government burning four percent
with no risks.
Speaker 20 (01:04:36):
That's not too bad.
Speaker 37 (01:04:38):
Meanwhile, I PAD expects business to slow down because to
get ahead of tariffs, many companies have already stocked up.

If you thought car prices were out of control under
Joe Biden, talk to a farmer. Tractor prices have gone
up by as much as sixty percent over the last

Speaker 21 (01:04:55):
There would be some sticker shop from the consuming public
that they saw the true costs of the equipment in
modern agriculture tractors that can run as much as seven
hundred thousand dollars. Some of that equipment seems out of reach.
Agriculture is an expensive proposition, but we need it for
national security. Can I think farms and ranchers in this
country are prepared for that?

Speaker 4 (01:05:41):
Six thirty seven. Our time here on Houston's Morning News,
here's a poll about money. Maybe you'll be surprised by this,
and maybe you won't. Maybe you'd like to weigh in
on this one. This would actually be a better question today.
So let me give you the stats, and then we'll
pose a question with this one. A new poll asked
would you leave your partner for one million dollars? If
(01:06:02):
I leave your partner, I don't I assume that means
you can no longer have contact with them. Forty three
percent of Americans said they would, forty three percent twenty
one percent would pass on one million if it meant
they'd lose access to social media. In the same poll,
forty percent of Americans said they'd accept thirty three million
(01:06:25):
dollars even if it meant financially ruining somebody else. Another
forty six percent said they'd consider it depending on who
got destroyed in the process. Forty six percent would enter
a real life version of squid Game. That's a movie
about well, i'll just say this. In the movie, you
get a shot at thirty three million dollars, but it
(01:06:45):
has a ninety nine point eight percent death rate, so
the chance of you actually winning the money is virtually none,
And yet forty six percent said they would try that.
Forty eight percent said they would embarrass themselves on live
TV for one million dollars. Thirteen percent said they do
it for just five thousand dollars, four percent said they
do it for five hundred bucks. One percent would probably
(01:07:08):
do it for free, right. Forty one percent said they
give up sex entirely for one million dollars. Fifty nine
percent say they give up technology and live off the
grid for one million dollars, and fifteen percent would frame
a friend for a crime they didn't commit for one
million dollars. So here's my question, what would you do
(01:07:28):
for one million dollars? Go to the iHeartRadio app KTRH
make as number one Indred preset. Please you get up
to thirty seconds. First name where you're calling from. What
would you do for one million dollars? Sake forty time?
For traffic and weather together two of those boxes.
Speaker 2 (01:07:43):
And I'm doing it.
Speaker 1 (01:07:44):
You're just checking them off, right.
Speaker 5 (01:07:45):
Much him like a fool of myself in front of everybody.
Let's see here, let's go to too eighty eight. Which
way are we southbound?
Speaker 2 (01:07:52):
At airport?
Speaker 5 (01:07:53):
I never believe that stall this keeps popping up. I
wouldn't worry about it. But inbound you do have a
scooch at hol Come. This is in the feeder road.
Stay off the main lanes. We should look when we drive.
That would probably help to eddy A to holcme. That
intersection is shut down, so stay on the main lanes.
It doesn't look like you can see it on the
main lanes. And we're twenty two minutes from memble Up

for today rights, tomorrow we're going to keep an eye
off for. Rain that's.
Speaker 22 (01:09:07):
RIGHT i don't really expect that we'll get much in
the way of rain. Today part of the reason is
with that area of low pressure that is making its
way Across louisiana and we're on the, backside so we're
kind of on the dryer. Side there's not as much
moisture to work with that we would see our afternoon.
Thundershowers now, tomorrow that moisture shifts closer to, us and
(01:09:32):
so we do have a better chance of rain, today
just a mix of sun and clouds and load to mid.
Nineties there is a thirty percent chance of some showers
or thunderstorms late, tonight and then tomorrow is sixty percent
chance of. Showers in, storms some of them could be
big rain. Makers i'm not expecting a big flooding, problem
but we'll be watching in. Case you, know those thunderstorms
(01:09:53):
produce a little too much. Rain in a short period
of time close to Ninety tomorrow thirty percent chance of

a cable and internet provider having to be worried about.
(01:33:43):
Blow back so they could just say all these things
and they know that the fact checkers are not going
to fact. Check them are A steam uh suppose to nonpartisan?

Speaker 20 (01:34:06):
Their, claims no you're right.
Speaker 4 (01:34:07):
About that but if they're being spun off as their,
own company they have to make their own, way financially.
Don't they how do they?
Speaker 20 (01:34:13):
Do?
Speaker 19 (01:34:13):
That, right well that is the.
Speaker 14 (01:34:15):
Key there they actually think maybe now that, we're free
we can actually.
Speaker 21 (01:34:18):
Do this now.
Speaker 14 (01:34:21):
You still do have to kind of pay the bills
and more people cutting. The cord, you know that's just
going to exasperate things right now. For them i'm just
really interested to see it's it's. Bold Strategy con let's
see how it plays out. For, Them uh THAT'S how
i feel about a lot OF things i. See nowadays
they actually think doubling down on this kind of incendiary
(01:34:43):
rhetoric is going to do, the JOB but i don't
think people are going to buy it other than maybe
the boomer. Fringe Audience, all right.
Speaker 4 (01:34:51):
Critis hops so at this point is it safe to
say that traditional journalism? Is dead we're no longer interested in.
Traditional Journalism is you're going to get an opinion one
way or the other no matter what, you watch and
it's going to be up to up to us to
try to, figure out, you know our belief system compared
to what the media is. Telling, us, yeah no that's
(01:35:14):
EXACTLY what.
Speaker 1 (01:35:14):
I think.
Speaker 14 (01:35:15):
I mean i always like to go back to the
late two thousands glenndeck adage of do your. Own homework
just because you hear something from an, opinion host you
might want to go see if you can go find
that information yourself and back. That up and Even, at
NewsBusters we look at a variety of sources, every day
even things that we, disagree with, You KNOW and i
(01:35:36):
think that's really where we have to. Be NOW but
i think thanks To, the internet THAT'S why i always
say it's a net positive that we have all the
choices out there and information at, our fingertips whereas before,
you know you'd have to scour up the money to
either go library or buy your own set. OF encyclopedias i.
Speaker 4 (01:35:52):
Guess the downside, Of That, curtis houck is that we're
dealing with the twenty four seven news cycle where there's
very little ability to escape.
Speaker 20 (01:36:00):
FROM it.
Speaker 51 (01:36:02):
I mean that.
Speaker 14 (01:36:02):
IS true I mean i think that's why you want to, seek,
out uh try to find a few sources that won't make.
YOU angry, i mean you know what you guys do
here do trafficking weather every? TEN minutes, i mean just
the basic facts. On television my Friends At, USE nation
i think they do a pretty. Good job yes they
have fred ocuoim, over there but, you know it's the
(01:36:23):
ONE network i can probably turn on without wanting to
yell AT the tv h for my wife's, sanitymore, SO
so i think that's something that we need in the
news business have to think about because, you know a
lot of folks have real, YOU know i mean not
that we don't have, real Jobs but americans that actually
are out there every day and don't have the time
like we do to be spending diving headfirst.
Speaker 4 (01:36:46):
Into this i'd Like to i'd like to get your
opinion on. A topic here a. Quick opinion if you Don't,
mind curtis how Can the Curtises With Media? Research center
if You Were, President trump i'm gonna put you in
his position here for. A second and you've got all
this stuff whirling back and forth On The jeffrey, epstein
STORY and i think a lot, of folks, including myself
are trying to figure out the right way to cover.
(01:37:07):
This story you, want transparency but you think somewhere in
your heart of hearts that there's a reason why we're
not learning everything there is to learn About The jeffrey.
Epstein story if you're, the president do you at this
point do you just try to make it go away by?
Ignoring it how do you? Handle it how do you? Handle?
It good?
Speaker 14 (01:37:26):
TO me, i mean that's such a tough call because
now they're suddenly interested. In It jake capper the other day,
was like, MY goodness, i mean there were women whose
lives were ruined. By this we should have maybe done
more of this. Coverage earlier but when he was still
alive and, you know the twenty ten's and, you're, LIKE yeah, i, know,
really dude Just Like, joe biden we just missed the

Paper. Check effective.
Speaker 20 (01:44:47):
What is the date on?
Speaker 4 (01:44:48):
THIS effective i want to say It's IN. September Yep starting,
september Thirtieth The Social security administration will stop issuing paper
checks for. Benefit payments all beneficiaries will be required to
switch to. Electronic payments the reason why they're doing this
(01:45:08):
is that it costs roughly thirty five cents less to
issue an electronic payment than it does a, paper check
which thirty five cents may not seem like a lot
until you start toiling it by tens of millions of
people who Are Getting social, security benefits so paper checks
are six by, the way the, other thing payper checks
sixteen times more likely to be either lost, Or Stolen.
Speaker 42 (01:45:30):
So.
Speaker 4 (01:45:31):
Security beneficiaries this is a more secure way to in a,

everything is much easier with. Online banking once you learn

doesn't mean. It exists on paper with, every nitty gritty
detail there's. Probably some videotape somewhere you got to figure

a legal. Case, AGAINST these pedophiles. Possibly I don't know
(01:55:25):
all i know is that we have this, real desire
for transparency and that is the one thing that government will,
never be, good at is transparency because they will always
consider whether or not they think you have, a right
to know or if it's in the best interest of
