Speaker 3 (02:05):
I've not been perfect and I'm a knucklehead at times.

the Dems are doubling down on crazy and bringing it
to Houston.
Speaker 8 (02:16):
And it's going to feature failed VP candidate Tim Waltz
and two time a Texas elections loser Bedow a'rourke.
Speaker 9 (02:24):
If that's the best they've got, I think we're in
really good shape going in next year's elections.
Speaker 8 (02:29):
That's Steve MUNISTERI, former chairman of the Republican Party of Texas.
Speaker 10 (02:34):
Well.
Speaker 11 (02:34):
I hate to put myself in the mind of a Democrat,
especially one that's so off base.
Speaker 9 (02:38):
I think with beta 'roarke, he wants to be relevant.
I also just think they're out of touch.
Speaker 8 (02:43):
Tonight's town hall will be held at the Fort Bend
County Fairgrounds. Jeff Biggs News Radio seven forty K t
rees thank.
Speaker 7 (02:51):
You, jeffin here in Harris County, Democrats on Commissioner's Court
will announce a plan to raise the minimum wage for
county workers to nearly twenty two dollars an hour. The
court is expected to vote on it today. And then
there's Jasmine Crockett, the Texas Democrat congress woman who faces
censure for mocking Governor Greg Cabot. She's also being called
(03:13):
out for changing the way she speaks now that she's
in Congress.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
Black liberals like you, Crocket like to say that black
Republicans like me are fraudulent.
Speaker 3 (03:22):
Just I've never pretended to be anything that I'm.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
Not, but you pretend to be everything you're not every
single day.
Speaker 7 (03:29):
Conservative influencer CJ. Pearson also set on nex that Democrats
are using this behavior to draw in black voters and
it's deeply offensive. Now of the White House, where President
Trump makes a move on cars being imported into the
United States.
Speaker 12 (03:44):
What we're going to be doing is a twenty five
percenterff on all cars that are not made in the
United States.
Speaker 7 (03:50):
He wants to increase domestic manufacturing and says that the
tariffs will result in eight trillion dollars of revenue within
their first year. Elsewhere, more judicial obstruction. A Biden appointed
federal judge denies the Trump administration efforts to ban transgender
people from joining the military. The ban was supposed to
go into effect tomorrow. It's now five oh four. Democrats
(04:14):
are crying and calling for investigations in the wake of
the whole signal Gate thing. Republicans, though, are taking a
calmer approach. I don't think it's gonna happen again.
Speaker 13 (04:24):
We're gonna look into it, and I think that it'll
be much to do about nothing.
Speaker 14 (04:27):
In a few weeks.
Speaker 7 (04:28):
Texas Congressman Pat Fallen on Fox Now. The White House
says Elon Musk will assist in the investigation to find
out how The Atlantic's Jeffrey Goldberg was in on this
chat in the first place. Administration officials like DNI Tulsea
Gabbert continue to maintain no classified information was leaked.
Speaker 15 (04:46):
The conversation was candid and sensitive, but, as the president
National Security advisor stated, no classified information was shared.
Speaker 7 (04:55):
The mainstream media is also ignoring the fact that Goldberg
lied about multiple Trump stories.
Speaker 3 (05:01):
The media is also.
Speaker 7 (05:04):
Not telling you about yesterday's Doge House hearing featuring a
bombshell admission by the head of the NPR.
Speaker 10 (05:10):
I do want to say that NPR acknowledges that we
were mistaken and failing to cover the Hunter Biden laptop
story more aggressively and sooner.
Speaker 7 (05:18):
CEO Katherine Maher also admitted that the COVID lab league
theory was quote worthy of coverage, but only after the
CIA said it was the likely cause two months ago.
Nearly half of the almost ten thousand adults asked by
the liberal Pew Research Centers say Americans have become more
rude since COVID.
Speaker 16 (05:38):
We've had people going crazy in riots, in rudeness, in
tearing down statues that have been up for years, and
when there's no consequences, people take advantage of it.
Speaker 7 (05:53):
Edicette expert Valerie Suckolowski says there's no accountability these days.
Five h six. Governor Greg Gabba is lining up state
resources to respond to heavy rain and thunderstorms today and tomorrow.
Terry Smith of the Weather Channel has more in a
few moments, and as you had to work today, some
major bridges here in Houston have been identified as quote
(06:14):
high risk.
Speaker 17 (06:15):
The Fred Hartman Bridge and the Beltway Ship Channel Bridge
could collapse if hit by a vessel.
Speaker 4 (06:20):
Keep in mind we have a whole new span of
the toll Bridge coming.
Speaker 17 (06:23):
Up to KTRH. Traffic Man Mike Valdez aka Scot Mike
says the rainbow Bridge and Port Arthur also faces risk
and if we had an incident like Baltimore had last year,
it would be disastrous.
Speaker 4 (06:35):
It would slow down commerce, it would slow down commuting.
It would be a terrible thing for our drivers all around.
You have limited numbers of access.
Speaker 17 (06:42):
He says, this is just another daily risk we deal
with living in Houston. Andre Perard News Radio seven forty KTRH.
Speaker 7 (06:49):
Five oh six. It's opening day for the Astros as
they host the Mets. There are some new faces as well,
like rookie cam Smith.
Speaker 6 (06:57):
It's a different look Astro team from what we recognize
the last few years. And when Bragman and Tucker on
other teams now, then you're looking for some guidance and
maybe some leadership from other places.
Speaker 7 (07:07):
Astros broadcaster Steve Sparks covered starts at two on Sports
Talk seven ninety and the Rockets are on the road
at Utah pregame at seven on Sports Talk seven. Nickey,
I'm Cliff Saunders on Houston's News Weather in traffic station KTRH.
Speaker 3 (07:23):
B informed be on time.
Speaker 2 (07:26):
Houston's Morning News continues with Jimmy Arrett.
Speaker 3 (07:32):
Five oh wait is our time here on Houston's Morning
News as cliff Is Justes mentioning his opening day for
the Astros today, and we've become a baseball town here
in Houston. I don't think that was always the case,
but the Astros success level since twenty seventeen, how good
was my timing coming here in twenty seventeen. You know,
(07:56):
it's pretty clear that they have been a dinas steve
for the last eight years. The question is did the
dynasty come to an end this offseason? And the temptation
would be to say, yes, that Bregman has gone, Verlander's gone.
Let's less with Verlander because, let's face it, with the
dudees like forty two years old, so it's it's not
like it's his dominant days are over. I mean not
(08:18):
to say he can't pitch, and maybe the San Francisco Giants,
maybe we'll do very well for them, but he's not.
He's not the study once was. Ryan Presley's gone. Well,
he used to be our closer, but he wasn't so
effective last year, so maybe that's okay. I guess the
point I'm trying to make is for the last several years,
(08:42):
you know, we've lost Carlos Correa, We've lost you know,
we've We've lost all sorts of people who have moved
on to other ball clubs, Alex Bregman being the latest one.
Kyle Tucker being traded to the Cubs. People are going,
oh my god, why are we training Tucker? We'd you
see Cam Smith, who we got in that trade, made
the major league roster. This kid is like right out
(09:05):
of college. He was playing for Florida State last year.
He I believe is going to be a phenom. So
maybe we knew something that other people didn't quite know.
Maybe we got the better end of that deal. I'm
a bit of an optimist when it comes to baseball.
You know, hope springs eternal, especially on Opening Day. Everybody
(09:26):
everybody's a winner, nobody's lost the game. Everybody's a penant contender,
everybody's a potential World Series contestant. But here's here's my
question today. As an Astro fan, are you feeling optimistic
or pessimistic about this season? What do you think the
Astros do? I mean, everybody likes to make a preseason
prediction right on how this whole thing will turn out.
(09:48):
Will the Astros win the West again? Will the Astros
at least make it to a wild card. Will the
Astros win the American League pennant? Will they advance further
than they did did last year when they lost in
the opening round to the Detroit Tigers. Will the Astros
go to the World Series? What is your prediction? You
go to the iHeartRadio app KTRH, put us on your preset.
(10:11):
You get thirty seconds. You won't need it probably, but
thirty seconds to give me your first thing where you're
calling from? Your Astro's prediction for the twenty twenty five
season five to ten time for traffic and weather.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
It's together, free traffic for a year, the Astro the
World Series.
Speaker 3 (10:25):
Look, I think that's a good deal. Skuyt. There we go.
All right, let's get off to a bad start. I
got bad news. Hang on the second, sorry, head up
frogging my throat. So I'm off to I've got good news.
I've got bad news. Good news.
Speaker 4 (10:36):
There's no injuries reported from this accident with the A
Team wheeler. That's iten outbound in Anawak Gator Country past
sixty one. He has flipped over at least on his
side here and it is a pretty gnarly wrecked dude.
We've got backups now from Cove, Texas five to sixty five.
And if you're trying to go eastbound eastbound only inbound,
(10:59):
we're okay. But if you're trying to head out toward Winnie,
toward Beaumont, you can't do it. If you'll just go
through Dayton, Liberty, Raywood, Devers, China and buy something, stop,
eat some food. Help those people out. But let's take
ninety instead. Get around that. It looks like it's going
to be around for a good while. Oh dad, coming,
I forgot to tell the rest of the media. Let
me let the rest of the media know about it,
(11:20):
you know, at first ktr H listeners, and of course
we'll update you at five twenty Skymike and the USA
Rvresorts dot Com traffic center. Terry. Did you hear where
that Astros player and they went?
Speaker 3 (11:32):
You were Cam Smith? Yeah, yeah, yeah, I.
Speaker 18 (11:36):
Was watching him play baseball what two seasons ago?
Speaker 3 (11:39):
Isn't that amazing? Actually he was still the Florida state.
Speaker 18 (11:42):
Last year or so, right right, that's when they had
a really good run.
Speaker 7 (11:46):
They didn't get as far as they hope to.
Speaker 3 (11:48):
By the way, one of the most moving things I've seen.
We'll have to post it. We're gonna have to post
this on ktr H if you haven't seen it where
the coach was when the coach brought in his mom
and dad to tell him that he made the RUSS.
I saw that. Isn't that amazing? Wow? You don't think
this is still a kid's game. There's a lot of
emotion involved with this. Wow. You so moved by it? Anyway. Yeah,
we've got some rain around here, Terry Smith, but it
(12:10):
looks like the really heavy stuff sticks around the coast.
Speaker 18 (12:14):
We got more than some rain, and we're dealing with
this rain through tomorrow, and so we're gonna be watching
it carefully. The concern is that we could get some flooding.
Now we're very dry, and that's good in this situation
because that allows some time for this rain to kind
of settle and dissipate. But as it continues and the
heavier rain ramps up tomorrow, the flooding threat is there,
(12:38):
especially off to the west and south. Like you said,
closer to the coast, we'll see some of those heavier
rainfall mounts. I generally think we're going to see one
to three inches, but there'll be places that pick up
four or five inches of rain out of this before
it winds down by Saturday morning, So an eighty percent
chance of showers and some storms today, Temperature around seventy,
(13:01):
eighty percent chance of more showers some thunder overnight.
Speaker 7 (13:05):
Tomorrow.
Speaker 18 (13:06):
Again, it's an eighty percent chance of rain over the
course of the day, but there'll be some heavier rain
at times. Temperatures low to mid seventies.
Speaker 7 (13:15):
We still have a few.
Speaker 18 (13:16):
Thundershowers Saturday morning, and then we dry out Sunday and Monday,
and the temperatures are back up in the low to
mid eighties starting Saturday afternoon.
Speaker 3 (13:26):
Right now sixty eight at your official severe weather station,
News Radio seven forty k TRH.
Speaker 2 (13:32):
It's Houston's Morning News, brought to you by New South
Windows Solutions. Now back to Jimmy Barris and the Houston
Morning News team all the info you need to take
on the day.
Speaker 3 (13:43):
I think if you're a regular listener, you know I
kind of have a thing. And I mean that. I
don't mean that in a physical way. I mean it
in a in a intellectual way. I have a thing
about Senator John Kennedy. He's my homeboy. Senator Cornthiuchius I
like to refer to him as because of his country
country style wisdom. If he were to come to Houston
(14:05):
and teach a class, I don't care where the class is.
I would do whatever it took to enroll in that
class just so I could sit down and listen to
him for an hour A couple of days a week.
I would love it. So he gave a class yesterday
on tariffs in Canada, and we're gonna let the professor
give you a little lecture here in just a moment. First, though,
let's do traffic and weather together. Mexican food would be.
Speaker 4 (14:27):
On us too, and I'm sure Eddie would pay for
it if he comes to town.
Speaker 3 (14:30):
Oh, I'm sure. Back, of course, that's what happen Skymine.
Speaker 4 (14:34):
I don't have a lot of time. I I don't
need a lot of time here. I just need to
tell you that I tend east out in ani Wax
totally shut down. Everybody's okay, but it's a pretty gnarly
accident with an eighteen wheeler.
Speaker 3 (14:44):
He's on his side.
Speaker 4 (14:45):
This is around Handcommurder close to closer to Aniwak sixty
one and it's outbound. They've shut the whole thing down.
Eastbound going to Beaumont. Let's take the lovely drive down
ninety through Liberty, Dayton and China, Texas, and stop by
grab something to eat.
Speaker 3 (15:00):
I'm gonna go with Ghetto Dave quickly.
Speaker 19 (15:01):
Dude, got my forty five hidden south rive before fourteen
eighty eight.
Speaker 20 (15:06):
Stall car.
Speaker 3 (15:07):
It's real dark color with no lives on.
Speaker 4 (15:10):
Come on Stros, all right, watch out southbound passing Magnolia
coming down from Conrad fourteen eighty eight. I'm Scott Mike
the USA RV Resorts dot Com Traffic Center.
Speaker 3 (15:19):
And by the way, speaking of the Strows, we do
have that Cam Smith video if you want to see
that finding out finding out from his mom and dad
that he made the Major League club. You can see
that either on x or you can see it at
KTRH dot com. Either place from our KTRH Top tax
Defenders twenty four hour Weather Center. Rain early than Claudie
with acacial showers, possibly storm seventy for the high today.
(15:39):
Right now, we're looking at a temperature of sixty eight
at your official severe weather station, News Radio seven forty
k TRH. We're checking out some more of our top
stories this morning. Here's Cliff.
Speaker 7 (15:51):
Thank you, Jimmy More. Judicial resistance say federal appeals court
stops the Trump deportation flights. The man arrested for last
weekends after hours club sh in Houston was here illegally,
and a second suspect may have already fled to Mexico,
according to reports, The Cowboys and Browns have discussed the
trade involving Dak Prescott at the latest news anytime at
(16:14):
KTRH dot com. Our next update is at five point
thirty three hours.
Speaker 3 (16:20):
Something in our city. Something's happened that shouldn't have Checky
in all day prepared. It's always something.
Speaker 2 (16:26):
For anything on news radio seven forty KTRH.
Speaker 3 (16:32):
All right, So Senator John Kennedy on the floor of
the US Senate yesterday, there was nobody behind him. I
don't know if there's anybody in front of him. I
don't know how you get up and do a lecture
when there's nobody there, but they do, but they do
it all the time. I would be there if I
knew and he was going to speak, I'd I'd be
happy to be part of that audience. I love listening
to his wisdom. So anyway, he's he's doing a sort
(16:53):
of a economic one oh one lecture about tariffs and Canada.
And you know how the Canadians could really kind of
fix this problem about tariffs if they well, anyway, I'll
let the Senators speak for himself. I want to.
Speaker 19 (17:10):
Say this unequivocally. Canada is one of my favorite countries
in the world. And the American people and the people
of Canada are friends, and I would like our economies
to be friends.
Speaker 3 (17:27):
And I mean that, but lately we've been having.
Speaker 19 (17:34):
A general disagreement some would say not so general in
terms of tariffs and trade in our economy. Canada and
the United States of America do a lot.
Speaker 3 (17:43):
Of business with each other.
Speaker 19 (17:47):
In twenty twenty four, the United States sold to the
people of Canada about three hundred and fifty billion dollars
and goods. There's a lot of goods the one hundred
and fifty billion dollars. The US economy is ten times
bigger than the Canadian economy, and the population of the
(18:08):
United States of America is eight times bigger than the
population of Canada. Canada has forty one million people, America
has three hundred and forty million.
Speaker 9 (18:20):
She stepped back for a second.
Speaker 19 (18:22):
You go home, now, the United States is eight times bigger,
and our economy is ten times larger than Canada's. But
yet Canada is selling more of its goods into the
United States than the United States is selling into a
Canada into Canada. Any fair minded person would have to conclude,
(18:46):
mister President, that is because of terrace. Oh here's my
respectful gentle challenge to Prime Minister Carney. Tonight, Prime mister Carney,
you have criticized Prisident Trump, and I see.
Speaker 3 (19:01):
Your point of view.
Speaker 19 (19:02):
You said, because he's raising terrors on Canada, that he
doesn't he prison.
Speaker 3 (19:07):
Trump doesn't believe in free trade.
Speaker 19 (19:09):
You have said that he doesn't he believes in tariffs,
and you have said you're going you, mister Karney, you
are going to change your terrafs. I hope Prime Minister
Carney does change his teriffs, but I hope he does
so in a way that we have a race to
(19:30):
the top and not to the bottom.
Speaker 3 (19:35):
Is just something about the way that man speaks. I
hope this is a race to the top and not
a race to the bottom. And Canada confects the problem
pretty easy. Jess. Don't put your terraffs on your stuff,
and we won't put our terrafs on our stuff. And
that's really what free trade would be. Right. Five twenty six,
Time to take a look at your money. Jeff Bellinger
(19:56):
is here and Jimmy, Good morning.
Speaker 13 (19:58):
Worries over in FLA and a widening trade war sank
the stock market yesterday. Major averages had losses ranging from
a third of a percent to two percent. President Trump
signed his order for twenty five percent tariffs on imported
autos before Wall Street rang the opening bell, and those
levies take effect next Wednesday. Stock market futures are right
(20:20):
now mixed. The Nasdaq futures are lower. S and P
and Now futures are both higher. I'm Jeff Belinger, Bloomberg
Business on News Radio seven forty KTRH.
Speaker 21 (20:32):
Are no Houston's News, Why there are traffic plus breaking

Speaker 2 (20:44):
More of what's happening now from the Sean Moore Services Studios.
Speaker 3 (20:48):
Five thirty is our time here on Houston's Morning News.
I'm Jimmy Bairrett. Among our top stories of this half hour,
Trump's had enough of the so called signal gate. The
highest on the right that I should say the highest level.
Let me start this over the highest on the right
track numbers in more than twenty years. There we go
(21:08):
and coming up at five thirty eight. Houston Ice agents
apprehend six hundred criminal illegals in just one week. Details
in the minutes ahead on Houston's Morning News. First, we're
checking out that morning drive. A sky Mike.
Speaker 4 (21:22):
Total shut down over in Gator Country. Anawhack, this is
iten after five sixty five from cove out past sixty one,
there's an over turn eighteen wheeler. Everybody's okay. All of
your eastbound lanes are closed. Westbound inbound you can get
by just fine. Let's reroute to ninety. I've got Huntsville
Mike on the tip line. I think he's forty five
north Dude.
Speaker 22 (21:42):

south one at League Line between Lee Line and eight
point thirty.
Speaker 4 (21:49):
All right, let's watch out southbound. Also, Ghetto Dave gets
a banana sticker for fourteen eighty eight southbound. I've got
a stall there, oh, banana sticker.
Speaker 3 (21:56):
Mike High Island. He started all this off.
Speaker 4 (21:58):
I'm in the Generator Supercenter dot Com Traffic Center.
Speaker 3 (22:01):
From our KTRH Generator Supercenter twenty four our weather center.
Rain early than Claudie, with occational showers, possibly storm high
temperature right about seventy four today. There's a lot more
rain in our future, especially tomorrow. Darry Smith will fill
us in on that when we talk to her in
eight minutes. Right now, temperature is sixty eight at your
officials Severe Weather Station, News Radio seven forty k TRH.
(22:23):
It's time now for the news. Here's Cliff Saunders.
Speaker 7 (22:25):
Thank you, Jimmy. It is five point thirty two on
KGRHR CHP story this hour.
Speaker 3 (22:29):
It's all a witch hunt here.
Speaker 12 (22:31):
We are talking about some of the greatest business deals
ever made. The greatest companies in the world are moving
into the United States, and you'll want to ask about
whether or not signal was.
Speaker 7 (22:40):
That's President Trump in the Oval Office as the mainstream
media continues to throw a conniption over Signal Gate, despite
assurances that no classified information was leaked elsewhere. Federal appeals
court sides with the activist judge who tried to block
the president's deportation flights. Utah Senator Mike Lee says it
it's ridiculous.
Speaker 23 (23:01):
If President Blosberg wants to go in and he wants
to be president of the United States.
Speaker 3 (23:05):
He needs to run, and he needs to.
Speaker 23 (23:07):
Get a majority of the electoral votes in a presidential
election year.
Speaker 3 (23:11):
If not, it needs to stick to judging Lee on Fox.
Speaker 7 (23:14):
But the program has already gotten hundreds of dangerous criminal
illegals out of the US.
Speaker 24 (23:20):
Al Savador has received fifty one flights and another one
landed today.
Speaker 22 (23:24):
So we're continuing to do that.
Speaker 7 (23:26):
DHS Secretary Christy Noam in l Salvador visiting the prisons
that these illegals were taken to. Now, despite the judicial obstruction,
the protests, the activist mainstream media, almost half of America
thinks we are finally headed in the right direction.
Speaker 25 (23:42):
That's the highest number that NBC has reported since two
thousand and four.
Speaker 26 (23:45):
The fact that you have a modern record for this
polling at a time when the media coverage if Trump
remains eighty or ninety percent negatives, shows yet again how
out of touch they are.
Speaker 25 (23:54):
Gup consultant Matt mcobac says, the reason so many Americans
are confident is the progress they've already seen.
Speaker 26 (24:00):
To look at egg devices as one example, they were
going up initially because of the things Biden was doing.
They have now come down, but they're going to keep
going down because of steps the Trump administration's taking.

It's now five point thirty four and it's shaping up
to be a wet commute this morning as the system
moves into the area for the next couple of days.
More with Terry Smith of the Weather Channel. In a
few moments earlier this week, the Trump administration said it
has plans to eliminate FEMA. So what does that mean
for states like US that deal with natural disasters. Chris
Edwards with the Cato Institute says, believe.
Speaker 5 (24:38):
It or not, this will help state governments can raise
the money themselves and have budget reserve funds ready during
natural disasters. SEAMA is really kind of an ancilliary agency here,
not crucial. After most natural disasters.
Speaker 7 (24:53):
The administration wants states to decide how to best use
money and resources. In Austin, state law makers hold hearings
today on three pro life bills in the pipeline.
Speaker 27 (25:04):
These bills are designed to stop illegal abortions and save
children from abortion travel.
Speaker 7 (25:11):
Kimberlyn Schwartz with Texas Right to Life says one of
the other bills will crack down unillegal abortion pill websites

apparently is at risk of defaulting on over thirty six
trillion dollars in debt by August.
Speaker 14 (25:26):
The Congressional Budget Office says money may run out in
August or September if lawmakers fail to raise or suspend
the debt limit.
Speaker 3 (25:32):
This is not.
Speaker 28 (25:33):
Something that we want to treat cavalierly that de fault

Former CBO director and president of American Action Forum Douglas

Speaker 28 (25:44):
We're a long way from voting yes or no on

The President announcing twenty five percent tariffs yesterday on imported cars.
We'll have more on that at six o'clock. The economy
is running hot, even if the mainstream media keeps preaching
doom and gloom. Consumer confidence series are flashing warning signs.
Actual behavior, though, tells a different story.
Speaker 29 (26:19):
So the idea that the tariffs are going to be
a negative for the economy is something that's pushed by
the mainstream media to people as certainly it's going to
affect their sentiment.
Speaker 7 (26:27):
Kevin Hassett with the National Economic Council says Americans are
still spending, businesses are expanding, and home sales arising, all
good signs. But there's also this, despite the big tech
CEOs warming up to Trump, big tech itself is still
censoring conservatives.
Speaker 30 (26:46):
Amazon's artificial intelligence called a book about liberal and doctrination
in schools biased and said it contained extreme rhetoric against
marginalized groups. When called out on it, Amazon claimed it
was just an error. The political analyst Anthony Russo isn't
buying that they've.
Speaker 3 (27:00):

Yeah, subscribed to being here illegal. We kind of did
this story last week, but I want to. I want
to hit it again because I think the good news
is worth talking about more than once. And I think
it's a good demonstration too of the type of people
that ICE is rounding up, and I'm glad to see that.
I think all the stories about Well, they're just picking
up real innocent people. I think those who kind of
(28:16):
died and gone away because I think they have seen
what is really happening. And Houston is a great example.
This happened between February twenty third and March the second.
Six hundred and forty six non citizens were arrested, including
five hundred forty three aliens with criminal charges and seven
(28:38):
alleged to be gang members. Thered that five hundred and
forty three criminals in one week that were apprehended all
entered the US illegally. All had been charged or convicted.
That's right, convicted. How are you not in a world
where you have an immigration system that works. How are
you not deported once you are evicted? I mean at
(29:01):
least after you serve your sentence. Oh yeah, we don't
really send people to jail very much anymore, do we.
They all entered the illegally, All were charts are convicted
of criminal offense while they were illegally present in the
United States. In addition, thirty four of the detained where
criminal aliens charged are convicted of a sex offense or
child sex offense, such as aggravated sexual assault of a
(29:23):
minor possession of child pornography or rape. There were also
one hundred and forty charged or convicted of an aggregate
aggravated party felony or other violent offense such as homicide,
aggravated assault, or domestic violence. These are all well, except
for maybe a handful they got caught up in this.
These are all very bad people, very bad people, and
(29:49):
finally they're being rounded up. I just want to remind
us all of that. All right, Hey, Bob writer, it's

Up on the Jersey area.
Speaker 4 (31:08):
All right, looks as we zoom that one, two, three
right lanes here blocked. There's the sugage from Yale. It's
gonna get worse. Let's go ahead and Terry your hazard's
go ahead and take the loop instead. Your north loop

Than goes, I would agree, And as I am known
to say, Doppler radar cannot track hows.
Speaker 7 (32:09):
We definitely need skybike for that.
Speaker 18 (32:12):
And speaking of Doppler radar, I've been watching the radar
this morning, and we do have some widespread mainly showers
out there.
Speaker 7 (32:20):
But you know how it is just a little bit
of wet roadways.
Speaker 18 (32:23):
And everybody goes crazy, So be extra careful out there
this morning. We're going to be dealing with this off
and on through the day today, tonight, tomorrow as well.
It tapers off Saturday morning, and between now and then,
we could see some heavy rain, especially off to the
west and the south. Floodwatch for Brazoria, Mata, Gorda, Wharton, Colorado,

rain to cause some localized flooding. Eighty percent chance that

We're dry now.

Speaker 3 (33:18):
So there's going to be quite the show tonight in
Fort Benn there's going to be the tamp on Tim
and Betta O'Rourke show. They're appearing together. I don't quite
understand the purpose of that both both of both are
most famous at this point for being badly beaten, one
in a presidential election and the other one in a
Senate race against you know, our incumbent, one of our
(33:42):
incumbent senators is that the Democrats. Is that the best
strategy at this point? What's the point of this? You know,
this little dog and pony show they're going to do.
Also from Fort Bend Republican. Of course, Troy Nails will
talk to him about this. Next. First, we've got traffic
in weather together again and ammonstrating, Man, I'm gonna get
(34:03):
up sky bike. I'm gonna be short for Troy Nails.
I've got it now.
Speaker 4 (34:06):
The online sources are still showing you shut down out
in Chambers County.
Speaker 3 (34:11):
It's not it's reopened.
Speaker 4 (34:12):
Sheriff's side confirmed with me that was an earlier eighteen
wheeler wreck. We got an overturned Katie Freeway inbound at
Taylor Street. That's three big right lanes here, and Jennifer
wants me to look at her Twitter. Let's say Yale
north of Washington Avenue shut down that water leak thing. Okay,
if you have any friends who are guilty, White Liberals
Yale just north of Washington Avenue.
Speaker 3 (34:31):
That's a big water thing.

(35:01):
out some more of our top stories this morning.
Speaker 7 (35:03):
Here's Cliff Thank You Jimmy, sponsored by D and M
Auto Lousing. The Dems double down on failure with Beto
O'Rourke and Tim Walls holding a town hall in Fort
Bend County tonight. A Cyprus Springs High school student is
hospitalized after being stabbed during a school fight yesterday, and
ACCU Weather puts out it's hurricane forecast, calling for thirteen
to eighteen storms, seven to ten hurricanes, three to five

major ones at the latest news anytime at KTRH dot com.

Speaker 3 (35:43):
They're going to drag this thing out the old vote
Beto song five poin fifty three, so that time here
on Houston's Morning News. Yeah, doubling down on failure is
what it feels like, right Bento o'urck. You know he
lost hisscended race of course, and then you've got tap
on Tim Wall who lost his vice presidential race in
the last presidential election. They will be appearing together in
(36:05):
Ford Ben County tonight, joining us. Not from Fort Benn,
I assume from Washington this morning. Congressman Troy n Ayles, Congressman,
Good morning, sir. Why do you think they're coming to
Ford Benn. What's the point of those two getting together
in Ford Benn.
Speaker 34 (36:20):
I don't know. They have nothing else to do. Maybe
their wives don't want to hang out with them, they
want to be out of town.
Speaker 3 (36:25):
I have no clue, but.
Speaker 34 (36:26):
Well, all I do know is you know they've been
traveling to day I should say, Tim Waltz. I don't
know about battle. I think Battle has an agenda here.
I think he maybe wants to challenge maybe Corn and
if he gets through the primary in twenty twenty six,
he may want to run again, and Jimmy would be
for a fourth time. He's lost three times. He ran
for Senate, he lost, then he was trying to be
(36:47):
the twenty twenty nominee for president, he lost.
Speaker 7 (36:51):
Then he ran for governor of Texas and he lost.
Speaker 34 (36:53):
So he's a three time loser. Tim Walts obviously with
the mandate, I thank goodness she chose you, that Kamala
chows you to be her running mate. You were rejected
by the American people soundly, So come into Fort Benn
County and say you're going to hold a congressional town hall.
Neither one of them are members of Congress, so it's
(37:13):
just a stunt. It's a stunt. I'm sure they'll.
Speaker 7 (37:15):
Have people that they'll probably pay.
Speaker 34 (37:18):
Them to be there and make it look like they've
got some an enormous amount of support around them as
a result of what Donald Donald Trump and Elon Musk
are doing. It's just a stunt, I thought it is.
Speaker 3 (37:29):
Well, let's let's face it, there are more than a
few Democrats in Fort ben County. So I'm sure that
you know the uh, the judge Fort Benn County judge
will welcome them with open arms wanting.
Speaker 34 (37:42):
I don't know. I don't know about that. All I
do know is that they have been traveling mostly Tim
Watson some other far left nut job lunatics have been
traveling around the country. Uh. And what's interesting is I
saw one the other day where Republicans tried to go
into this congression town hall. They had a mega had
on and they were refused. They weren't allowed in. So
(38:04):
this isn't I don't even look at this. This isn't
even serious. This is just two guys that need to
go to the men's tea clinic and they just have issues.
They have issues. They're trying to build some support around
a movement that has lost their way. The Democrats have
lost their way, and you can see it look at
(38:26):
I mean, what's embarrassing is maybe they should be sitting
down with this this representative, Jasmine Crockett and try to
help her a little bit because she has just gotten
She's off the rails. She's rude, she's obnoxious, she insults
the greatest governor we've had in several years.
Speaker 9 (38:43):
I mean, it's just it's.
Speaker 34 (38:44):
Sad what the Democrats and the tactics they have with Tesla.
Speaker 3 (38:49):
Clearly she's looking for attention, and I guess we're giving
her attention, which is probably exactly what she wants. She's
making a name for herself, and in Democrat circles that
probably is not a bad thing to have someone who's
willing to go out there and attack Republicans. You know,
you've got Bernie Sanders and AOC traveling around together as well,
so it seems like they're pairing up all the people
that we've so strongly voted against in the last election
(39:12):
to go out and try to convince people that they
were wrong.
Speaker 34 (39:16):
Yeah, I think, you know, I don't know. I mean,
if Jasmine is doing this so she can increase her
number of followers on X, I mean, I guess she
could be successful there, but I don't know how this.
You know, the Minority Leader Hakim Jefferies would feel about
her saying some of the things she's saying. I mean,
I tell you what you're really going to see in Wisconsin.
Excuse me, Jimmy. Next Tuesday is the Supreme Court race.
Speaker 9 (39:38):
That is a very very important race for.
Speaker 34 (39:41):
The country, not just for the state of Wisconsin, for
the country. And it's a state Supreme Court race. If
we can win that, it's neck and neck. If we
can win that, that will that would be so important
for the Republican Party because it will show that we're
continuing to win. If we lose that race, those congressional
districts in Wisconsin will be redrawn by the LEFTUS, you know,
(40:03):
the left on the on the Supreme Court, and we're
going to lose two congressional seats. That is so important.
The American people have to understand that race. Watch out
for Wisconsin on Tuesday, next Tuesday.
Speaker 3 (40:13):
Got it. Thank you for telling us. Troy Nails, Republican
Congressman from Fort Benn County. It's five fifty seven here

out that Morning Drive again with Skyminke. We've had accidents
on iten both ends. There's one out in Chambers County that.
Speaker 4 (41:08):
Was an overturned eighteen wheeler around Highway sixty one. The
rest of the media shows that closed down. It's actually
reopened Chambers County.
Speaker 3 (41:15):
Open me out.
Speaker 4 (41:16):
We got big backup still from five to sixty five.
Let's keep rout in the ninety four. Now, we'll watch
that every ten minutes. Katie Freeway inbound Taylor. That's an
overturned big rig. We'll take three right lanes Ian from
Bear Creek. Get me a wreck right behind that on
the side, so you've got a double whammy Katie Freeway.
Speaker 3 (41:33):
Let's do the loop instead.

Speaker 7 (42:13):
Yeah, that was better a Rourke years ago. The three
times election loser teams up with failed vice presidential candidate
Tim Walls tonight for a town hall in Fort Bend County.
Speaker 11 (42:23):
There are almost twice as many conservatives in the state
than there are liberals, so it makes sense for us
to fire up the conservative base. It doesn't make sense
for them to try to fire up the left wing base.
But I'm okay with them trying the same failed strategy.
Speaker 9 (42:36):
I mean, it's like they're running the same play over
and over again.
Speaker 7 (42:39):
Former Texas GOP chair Steve Minisari says the Dems simply
don't have any depth here in Harris County. A vote
expected today in Commissioner's Court on a plan to raise
the minimum wage for county workers for fifteen dollars an
hour to nearly twenty two dollars an hour. And as
if that's not bad enough, some in the party are
looking towards Texas Democrat Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett for leadership, but
(43:05):
she's being blasted for being rude and fake.
Speaker 25 (43:08):
Just take a listen to these clips of Crockett before
and after she was elected.
Speaker 2 (43:12):
What I've always decided is that I would step up
when there was a need.
Speaker 3 (43:16):
He up there.
Speaker 22 (43:17):
He's gearing off a nine Saint March and let me
just be real.
Speaker 25 (43:21):
Conservative influencer CJ. Pearson called this behavior from Crockett deeply offensive.
Speaker 3 (43:25):
I'm not only offended.
Speaker 35 (43:26):
By the fact that they think that this is how
they should be reaching and talking to black people, if
the fact that they're.
Speaker 3 (43:32):
Usually a fraud to do it.
Speaker 25 (43:33):
He posted that video to his ex page, where he
went on to say that Crockett is pretending to be
something that she isn't. Ethan Buchanan News Radio seven forty KGRH.
Speaker 7 (43:41):
Six ZH three. President Trump makes it official, placing a
twenty five percent tariff on imported cars starting April second.
Missouri Center Josh Hawley told Fox it's a good move.
Speaker 3 (43:51):
It's going to mean more auto jobs, it's going to
mean higher wages.
Speaker 20 (43:54):
I mean people in my state, in the state of Missouri,
are cheering this, particularly are auto workers.
Speaker 7 (43:59):
But for every Trump when there's more resistance. A Biden
appointed federal judge denied the administration's efforts to ban transgender
people from joining the military. Six ZHO four Democrats are
calling for investigations in the wake of what they're calling
signal Gate. Trump administration officials maintained they did everything by
(44:19):
the book is to.
Speaker 31 (44:20):
Provide updates in real time, general updates in real time,
keep everybody in form.
Speaker 22 (44:27):
That's what I did.
Speaker 7 (44:28):
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and then their CIA director John
Ratcliffe also on the thread, telling a House committee hearing
yesterday that Jeffrey Goldberg of the Atlantic is wrong to
claim that war plans were actually put out there.
Speaker 36 (44:42):
My answers haven't changed. I used an appropriate channel to
communicate sensitive information it was permissible to do so. I
didn't transfer any classified information.
Speaker 7 (44:53):
And again, Goldberg has a long record of lying about
the president. The mainstream media is downplaying yesterday's House Doze
hearing where the leader of NPR admitted that, yeah, they
should have covered the Hunter Biden laptop story five years ago.
Oh there was also this buhn.
Speaker 10 (45:12):
We recognize that we were reporting at the time, but
we acknowledged that the new CIA evidence is worthy of
coverage and have covered it.
Speaker 7 (45:18):
In other words, NPR was five years late on the
COVID lab leak theory as well. Nearly half of Americans
now say people have become more rude since the pandemic.
Speaker 14 (45:29):
The Pew Research Center survey says Americans have become more
rude in public since COVID.
Speaker 16 (45:34):
Rudeness is rampant and until people start being held accountable,
they'll continue.
Speaker 14 (45:41):
Valerie Sukolowski, author an expert on business etiquette and professional image,
says the rudeness has spurred from people being more selfish.
Speaker 3 (45:48):
I have a word for it.
Speaker 16 (45:49):
It's called wam wham. What that stands for is what
about me? Well, it's all about me, don't you get
the message?
Speaker 14 (45:57):
Just nine percent of those surveys say people have behaved
more politely in public. Chart Lewis News Radio seven forty

Speaker 26 (46:04):
Six h six.
Speaker 7 (46:04):
Governor Abid direct state resources to be ready with rain
and storms in the forecast for today and tomorrow. Terry
Smith of the Weather Channel has more on that. In
a few moments, the NTSB identify several Houston area bridges
as being at high risk of collapse if hit by
a ship. Our own sky Mike says the Fred Harpin
Bridge and the ship Channel bridges are key to watch
(46:27):
is construction begins on one of them.
Speaker 4 (46:30):
If we lost any of our ship channel bridges, the
results would be disastrous to both your commuting as well
as local commerce and trucking. This is you know, it's
like living on a fault line or somewhere where we
have hurricanes. It's one of those hazards we deal with
in Houston every day.
Speaker 7 (46:45):
He adds that the Rainbow Bridge construction in Port Arthur
presents issues there. Six h sixty Astro's play opening day
at home against the Mets. Fan favorites Alex Bregman and
Kyle Tucker are gone, but radio broadcaster Steve Spark says
the Stros should still contend.
Speaker 6 (47:01):
Some people think it's the offense, but I think it's
the pitching staff. I think it's the starting five. If
they can stay together and they can stay healthy. I
think the Astros have as good of a pitching staff
as almost anybody else in the American.
Speaker 7 (47:13):

I guess NPR has a show they called Tiny Desk Concerts,
you know where it's kind of like a minimalist concert
thing where they get ours, like in this case Alicia
Keys To, you know, to sit down and play some
songs and there's there's no real audience there. But it's
live on the radio kind of thing, which is cool.
Speaker 34 (47:58):
I have.
Speaker 3 (47:58):
I have no If you like MPR, you know, more
power to you. I don't like their politics. I don't
like I don't like how left they are and they
and by the way, they've always been left. They've always
been left since their inception. You know what MPR is
to me, it is the entitled White people Channel. Yeah,
it's it's it's the white Liberal Channel. For people who
(48:23):
get offended by things that they think are I mean,
it's the woke channel. It's for people who are woke
and entitled and they feel guilty about all the things
that they have in life, and they want to blame
other people for keeping other people down. It's just it's
(48:47):
frustrating to me that we've always funded them to the
extent that we do, and by the way, they get
more in funding that a lot of people realize. Here's
Charlie Hurt, who works on Fox and The Washington Examiner,
talking about, you know, the real serious discussion that thankfully
is going on now about whether or not this funding
should continue.
Speaker 37 (49:04):
I have to say that the hearings today were about
fifty times I spent a lot of time listening to
NPR for some bizarre reason. I think because I live
in the country and there are that many radio stations,
so you get a lot of NPR. Those hearings today
were about fifty times more entertaining than any hour you
(49:25):
can ever get on NPR. And NPR is pretty entertaining
if you're looking for the bias. But your montage that
you've just put together, the highlight reel is even better.
You know, NPR is basically white.
Speaker 3 (49:38):
Privilege, is what it is.
Speaker 37 (49:40):
And when you sit there and you listen to these
CEOs and these directors claim that there is no bias
at NPR and PBS, you get an idea of just
how completely delusional they are.
Speaker 7 (49:53):
And my favorite thing about it is.
Speaker 37 (49:55):
They love to say that, oh, no, we only get
just a tiny fraction of our fun funding from the
federal government. But then when you threaten to take the
funding away, they start freaking out like they're not going
to be able to survive without it, because the truth
is that they get way more funding from taxpayers than
(50:15):
they let on and it goes, you know, through all
these you know, local stations and that that that pay
fees that that go back to NPR.
Speaker 3 (50:25):
And so I think.
Speaker 37 (50:26):
That the reason they're squealing right now is because I
think that the Trump administration and Elon Musk has identified
that if they pull government funding for these programs, they're
going to collapse.
Speaker 3 (50:42):
I don't know. I think there are plenty of George
Soros types out there that'd be glad to stroke a
check let them, let them pay for NPR instead of
the rest of us. So the taxpayers six eleven time
for traffic together three time. Kids tell story, Uncle Mike.
Speaker 4 (50:57):
I did NPR in Sanatu and got hate mail because
of my energetic, you know delivery, the way I talk.
So the next day I started doing this and then
I got a letter that said how intelligent I sound?
Speaker 3 (51:11):
So you can't make this STU bout dude.
Speaker 4 (51:13):
All right, if you know any NPR listeners, let them
know that Yale just north of Washington Avenue, they got
that big water leak thing. It's not really affecting most
of us here. Washington Avenue is actually getting by Andrew.
Let's go first of all to Rice Country. Next banana
sticker gunner from Crystal Beach. I'm getting people we've never
got before. Crystal Beach represents this is it outbound. He says,
(51:35):
we're back to full speed.
Speaker 3 (51:36):
Now.
Speaker 4 (51:37):
We had that reckon Anna Whack at sixty one, so
let's go ahead and stay the course now for Ien
eastbound westbound.
Speaker 3 (51:44):
We'll check with Tony just a moment.
Speaker 4 (51:45):
I've got also the wreck downtown and they cleared that
clear Ien Katie Freeway Taylor Street. That was an overturn
eighteen wheeler andreck from Springs on forty five.
Speaker 33 (51:55):
God Mike, forty five southbound free spoop care in ninety
nine areas here to what it is?
Speaker 9 (52:01):
Looking good?
Speaker 4 (52:03):
Boom, I didn't know he's old enough to remember Chico.
All right, Golden Triangle.
Speaker 3 (52:06):

Speaker 18 (52:43):
Huh yeah, yeah, because it is super soggy out there
today and tonight and tomorrow and even into a Saturday morning.
This is a very slow moving storm, so get ready
for the rain, folks. It's an eighty percent chance of
showers and occasionally some thunder today, tonight, tomorrow, Saturday morning,
(53:06):
we've got a thirty percent chance of some rain. Will
be dry by the afternoon Saturday. So that's the upside. Now,
the clouds and rain keeping temperatures cooler near seventy today,
load of mid seventies tomorrow. By the way, Tomorrow, I
think is when we're more likely to get some of
the heavier rains with this, and Saturday temperatures will be
in the load of mid eighties because the rain ends
(53:27):
and we'll see some sunshine. And that's how we start
next week with some sunshine and temperatures load of mid eighties.
Speaker 3 (53:33):
Right now, we're down to sixty six at your official

She thinks it's time for FEMA to go. We're going
to talk about FEMA and whether FEMA needs to stay

He will join us next, but first we've got traffic
and weather together as we check out the drive once
again with Skymike.
Speaker 4 (54:09):

Speaker 5 (55:44):

Speaker 3 (55:46):
Six twenty three is our time here in Houston's mooring News.
We're not big fans of FEMA here. I don't know
about our next guest. He's an economist at the KTO Institus.
Dame is Chris Edwards. Are you a FEMA fan or
not a fan?
Speaker 5 (55:57):
Chris, I'm not a FEMA fan. I am for states
handling their own natural disasters, preparing for natural disasters, and
recovering from natural disasters. I think FEMA MAINLELA doesn't spend
money and gets in the way of state first responders
(56:19):
from handling their own disasters.
Speaker 3 (56:21):
You know, I think Florida was a great example of that,
Wasn't that? I mean, they handled their hurricane beautifully. They
coordinated everything at the state level. You know, all they
really needed from the federal government was a little financial help,
and that would have been fine.
Speaker 5 (56:35):
Florida's done a fantastic job on hurricanes over recent decades.
In nineteen ninety two, Hurricane Andrew really hammered Florida, and
they learned a lesson and they have tremendous first responder
capabilities now in Florida. Then we had Hurricane Katrina two
thousand and five Louisiana. Everyone did a bad job on
(56:58):
that said, the state and local governments.
Speaker 3 (57:01):
The FEMA did a terrible job there.
Speaker 5 (57:04):
They often stood in the way of private responders coming
to help Walmart Target, others were sending trucks of water
and supplies into Louisiana. They're being blocked by FEMA. So FEMA,
you know, yes, it gives money to the states, but
it often imposes all these rules in bureaucracy that slow
(57:25):
disaster response.
Speaker 3 (57:26):
Well, and it's such a bureaucracy like everything else in
the federal government, that it moves very very slowly, and
after an emergency like that, you need quick action. Then,
like I said, that's why the states are so much
better at it. Christy Nome was asked back in February
of President Trump asked her if he should get rid
of FEMA. That she responded by saying, yeah, I would
get rid of FEMA the way it exists today. So
(57:47):
that kind of sounds like maybe you would get the
same treatment as the Education Department, which means it's easier
to gut it than it is to actually physically eliminate it.
That's right.
Speaker 31 (57:59):
You know.
Speaker 5 (57:59):
The walking word for this is a federalism, devolving power
back to the states. You know, the federal the problems
they said with the federal government, Yes, it spends money,
but with top down regulations and bureaucracy always come with
the money. That's true with the K twelve schools as well.
Texas is a countryside state. It should be able to
(58:20):
create a rainy day fund or a pool of money
that is available if they have a disaster. The other
thing that happens after a disaster is sort of horizontal
help between the states and between cities and areas within
the country. Aside from the federal government. In other words,
when there's a disaster in Euston or wherever the utility
(58:43):
is often, you know, of course, under great pressure to
restore power quickly, help comes in from other utilities and
from other states across the country to help. We saw
this after the California wildfires as well. Utilities bomber equipment
was coming from other states and across the country to
(59:04):
help with disasters. So states can and should have these
horizontal agreements between each other. That's great, But I don't
think we need the federal government to step in with
all of his bureaucracy.
Speaker 3 (59:14):
Yeah, I know, Houston has got a lot of help
in the Cajun Navy and Louisiana and vice versa, so
we kind of take care of each other when it
comes to these big storms. Let me let me ask
you this, Chris, in a perfect world, how would this work.
Would FIMA be absorbed in the Department of Homeland Securities
and just basically take a look at, you know, what
the financial needs are after disaster, in other words, become
more of a check writing operation in a perfect world.
Speaker 5 (59:36):
Well, I see, I think that's what we don't need.
There's no magic money tree in Washington. The federal budget
has massive deficits. I think the states should handle again.
They should create rainy dayfa on the pools of their
own money to handle these disasters. We can't keep spending
money in Washington that we don't have. I mean, Texans
pay a lot of taxes to Washington. Why not just
keep those taxes in Texas and respond to your own disasters.
(01:00:01):
Here's the way the federal government has a role when
it has unique assets and capabilities. The classic example of
that is the Coastguard. Enormous help preserving life after and
during disasters hurricanes. So when the federal government has a
sort of unique capabilities, great, we should use it. The
military stepped in after the floods in North Carolina a
(01:00:24):
number of months ago. That was great. I don't think
we need the check writing from the federal government though.
Speaker 3 (01:00:30):
Okay, well then we're going to need to keep a
whole lot more of our money here. Chris, thank you.
Chris Edwards, economist at the Cato Institute. It's six twenty seven.
It's time to take a look at your money with
Jeff Bellinger and Jimmy.
Speaker 13 (01:00:41):

I'm Jimmy Bairrett. Among our top stories of this half hour,
we looks like already the President has had enough of
so called signal gates. The highest percentage of on the

Speaker 4 (01:02:07):
All right, fantastic. Hey, don't forget to tell me who
you are. Represent your neighborhood, even if you're from Sharpstown.
I see the suckage. Now going back toward Highway six.
An extra twelve minutes this way downtown. That's an overturned,

to Terry Smith about all this in about eight minutes
right now, sixty six said your official severe weather station,
(01:02:52):
News Radio seven forty k TRH. It's time now for
the news. Here's Cliff Saunders.
Speaker 7 (01:02:57):
Thank you, Jimmy six thirty two. Now, you know he's
only been an offense in January twentieth, but half of
those polled by NBC say that America is now on
the right track. That would be the highest number in
over twenty years, By the way, just goes to show
you that Trump administration's plans are working.
Speaker 26 (01:03:14):
Their program is going to take years implement, They're only
two months in, but they are starting to see real results,
and I think the Republic is reflecting those results with
the confidence that they're showing and polling.
Speaker 7 (01:03:24):
GOP consultant Matt mccoveyac there.
Speaker 3 (01:03:26):
Now.
Speaker 7 (01:03:26):
This is all despite a mainstream media that downplays Trump's
success and focuses on things like signal gates.
Speaker 3 (01:03:35):
I think it's all a witch hunt.
Speaker 26 (01:03:36):
That's so.
Speaker 12 (01:03:36):
I think it's a witch hunt. I wasn't involved with it.
Speaker 3 (01:03:40):
I wasn't there.
Speaker 7 (01:03:41):
The president in the Oval office yesterday. And there's this
a federal appeals court ruling in favor of the judge
who tried to block Trump's deportation flights to El Salvador.
National Border Patrol Council President Paul Perez disagrees with the ruling.
Speaker 20 (01:03:56):
We didn't get it wrong. I think we sent the
people that we needed to say out there. These are
people that have been terrorizing the communities. Many of them
are our gang members. There was MS thirteen gang members,
there was Venezuelan gang members.
Speaker 7 (01:04:08):
Meantime, the program has already gotten hundreds of dangerous criminal
illegal aliens out of America. DHS Secretary Christy Noam says
they don't plan on stopping.
Speaker 24 (01:04:18):
We will continue to partner with them to continue those
flights throughout the rest of President Trump's term until we
get these criminals and these illegal aliens out of the
United States.
Speaker 7 (01:04:30):
No I'm in El Salvador yesterday. It's now six thirty four. Well,
the rain we've been talking about this week is here
and causing some problems on the roads. Sky Mike has
been on it all morning, and Terry Smith, we'll tell
you how long we'll be dealing with the rain in
about six minutes from now. And as spring ramps up.
The Trump administration has plans to eliminate FEMA after all
(01:04:52):
of its issues from last year's Atlantic hurricane season.
Speaker 8 (01:04:56):
And Chris Edwards, economist with the Cato Institute s that's
a good thing.
Speaker 5 (01:05:01):
TEMA really just provides federal funding after disasters. We don't
need a federal fundings.
Speaker 8 (01:05:07):
Now when the funding goes to illegals and other pet
projects for the left them.
Speaker 5 (01:05:13):
It doesn't have a great record. It does need management reforms,
So anything the Trump administration can do to make the
agency a leaner and more effective would be a positive.
Speaker 8 (01:05:22):
He adds that states already handle most disasters. Jeff Biggs
News Radio seven forty k tides, speaking.
Speaker 7 (01:05:30):
Of states and Austin, three pro life bills are the
subject of state hearings today.
Speaker 27 (01:05:35):
Even though abortion is illegal in Texas, that doesn't mean
that the abortion industry has given up on our state.
Speaker 7 (01:05:43):
Kimberln Schwartz with Texas Right to Life says one of
the bills will crack down on illegal abortion pill websites.
At six point thirty five, the Congressional Budget Office says
it's possible that the federal government runs out of money
as soon as August if Congress doesn't raise or to
spend the debt ceiling.
Speaker 28 (01:06:01):
There are persistent rumors that receipts are coming in lower
than expected. CBO included that cautionary note in their report,
they didn't just say, look, it's going to be August
or September if those cashlows aren't big enough.
Speaker 3 (01:06:12):
The date jumps forward by.
Speaker 7 (01:06:13):
Months, former CBO director Douglas Holtz eke. And this comes
as President Trump announces a twenty five percent tariffs on
imported cars to go into effect next week. More on
that at seven o'clock. The mainstream media keeps pushing fears
about recession, but the numbers tell a different story. Kevin
Hasset with the National Economic Council says, even though Americans
(01:06:35):
are still spending and factories are ramping up production, the
mainstream media is screaming fear of the future.
Speaker 29 (01:06:42):
Until they see the actions of the people, the economic
actors that are responding to the tariffs. And so if
you watch the data, you're going to have really, really
wonderful things to celebrate.
Speaker 7 (01:06:50):
February retail sales jumped by one percent, Industrial output surge
past expectations. AI continues to show it's woke by despite
the fact that big tech CEOs are playing nice with
President Trump. Amazon's AI called a mainstream conservative education book
quote extreme political rhetoric. It refused to even give a
(01:07:13):
summary of the book. The company now says the response
was a quote error. Political analyst Anthony Russo believes some
human was ultimately behind this.
Speaker 31 (01:07:23):
There's a lot of leftists that work in positions of
power in these companies, and clearly they have an agenda
or they're being paid to fulfill a specific agenda. So
when little quote unquote mistakes like this happened, there should
be some kind of investigation onto why.
Speaker 7 (01:07:38):
It's now six thirty seven, It's finally here, Opening day
for the stros As from braval Does gets the start
against the Mets. Pregame of two on Sports Talk seven
ninety first pitch at three ten NCAA Tournament Sweet sixteen

Speaker 39 (01:08:08):
People are going to lose their freaking mind.
Speaker 3 (01:08:10):
The big story of the week on used Radio seven
k t r H thirty eight is our time here
in Houston's morning news. Right it's opening day here in Houston.
UH at Uh, what's the end of that place again?
Oh yeah, dyke in Park? Is it Dacon or die.
It's going to take me a while to get used
to this, man, I understand. Instead of it being the
(01:08:33):
juice box, now it's the ice box because they do
air conditioning and stuff. So it'll be interesting to see
what they put the back end of that train where
they used to have the the oranges. You know, what
are are they putting air conditioning units back there? I'm
not sure anyway, we'll find out with opening day today.
We'll also see some new players we have not seen
before today, and we will notice that we don't have
(01:08:56):
certain players that we've had the last few years. Most notable,
I guess Alex Bregman, who's not playing for the Boston
Red Sox. So I'm asking the question today we got
you know, it's a new team, it's a new year.
Hope springs eternal line opening day of course, but realistically,
in your mind, what are you expecting, not what you're
hoping for, what you're expecting from the Astros this season?
(01:09:19):
And you can go to the iHeartRadio app kt r H,
put us on your preset. You get thirty seconds once
you hit the talkback button there to give us your
first name where you're calling from. In your Astros predictions.
Speaker 33 (01:09:31):
Hey, Jimmy originally Andrew from Spraying, the Astros are gonna
do with the Astros have always done, because what the
Astros have always done is do what the Astras always do.
They're gonna win the West, then they're gonna take the playoffs,
and I don't know about the World Series.
Speaker 38 (01:09:46):
I'm gonna be hopeful for the World Series, you know.
Sorry Tony from Beaumont. Well, we're gonna beat the Mets.
You know what I'm saying. I've always want to say this. Hey,
I'm walking.
Speaker 9 (01:09:57):
Here, Jimmy Bryan on Lake Conro. Astros don't have the
bats this year. Their season is going to be over
after the wild card loss.
Speaker 3 (01:10:05):
Wow, two very different thoughts. I think I'm more with
Andrew in spring. I think the Astros just seem to
find a way. You know, the same things were said
about the Astros after Carlos Corella left, for example, that
you know, and look what they did. They've replaced him
(01:10:25):
and with Jeremy Paine and everything has been fine. So
we'll see, you know, time will tell six forty time
for traffic in leather together, yesca, I just woke up.
Speaker 4 (01:10:34):
I'm gonna give you a free traffic for a year
if the Astros won the World Series.
Speaker 3 (01:10:37):
So there we go. Which way you want to go, Jimmy, there,
Let's let's go to the west. Oh, let's go to
the west.
Speaker 6 (01:10:43):
You know what.
Speaker 4 (01:10:44):
Let's bring it down just a little to the Southwest Freeway.
Kg r H listeners the first to know about this
wreck at Kirkwood.
Speaker 3 (01:10:50):
Thank you caller.
Speaker 4 (01:10:51):
Don't forget to say your name. Inbound Kirkwood. Just a
left lane getting by. This is getting nasty from Highway six.
Let's take all ninety the most city expressway. If the
West Park Tollway is a route for you, go ahead
and do that.
Speaker 3 (01:11:03):
In ten, I think the Southwest thing is going to
be there for a while.
Speaker 4 (01:11:06):
All right, let's go I ten I ten Downtown Katie
Freeway down. That's a Taylor Street and it's a wreck
with an eighteen wheeler. He's often the construction has matts.
Speaker 3 (01:11:16):
Called dude, I'm like you were backed up all the
way through downtown onto fifty nine.
Speaker 22 (01:11:23):
Only police carge and no heavy wreck.
Speaker 5 (01:11:25):
You're there to overturn that truck or.
Speaker 26 (01:11:27):
Clean up that mess.
Speaker 9 (01:11:29):

are we going to get to the point where you
can have your own personal nuclear? REACTOR i mean just
a little tiny thing that powers your, house or powers your,
(01:27:17):
neighborhood or powers your. CITY i think that is probably
the energy wave of the future if they can kind
of figure out what do we do with the radioactive?
Waste that's always the, thing, Right, okay what are we
going to do with a radioactive? Waste but right now
The trump administration is encouraging entrepreneurs out there in the
(01:27:39):
energy industry who are working on these small nuclear reactors
to produce, energy encouraging them to make bids and to
get to work on this that this administration is interested
in this form of. Technology Here's Energy Secretary Chris wright on.
Speaker 35 (01:28:01):
Thought yesterday we did we released sort of a request
for bids and proposals from developers in The United states
for small modular. Reactors the nuclear renaissance has been long talked,
about but it just hasn't happened.
Speaker 3 (01:28:14):
Yet we want to make it.
Speaker 35 (01:28:16):
Happen President trump was elected to make things. Happen so
one of the things we did from a previous draft
was strip out THE dei. Language nuclear energy is about
power in your homes and your businesses and the. Hospitals
it's not about politics or skin color or. Sex it's about.
Energy so we're just bringing common sense back and want
to get nuclear power. Going there's tons of Great american
(01:28:37):
companies that are spending private capital to develop next generation
nuclear technologies that are, small, manufacturable and factories assemble quick on.
Speaker 3 (01:28:45):
Location they're. Safe everything in the.
Speaker 35 (01:28:48):
World goes wrong and the reactors just automatically shut themselves.
Speaker 3 (01:28:51):
Off so there's really.
Speaker 35 (01:28:52):
Some great, technologies and we just want to focus on
technology and.
Speaker 3 (01:28:55):
Energy, Okay and as it turns, out at Least i'm
looking at several stories. Here WHAT i don't know is
what perspective they're coming, from SO i don't know how
accurate these stories. Are but all these stories about these
small nuclear reactors show concern about high levels of nuclear.
Waste how much waste would they? Produce how would we
(01:29:16):
deal with the? Waste AND i guess as, well from
a national security, standpoint if you have cities that are
full of these relatively small nuclear reactors creating, WASTE i,
mean is that a potential terrorist target just to steal
steal the waste for potential use in you, know bomb
(01:29:37):
building for. EXAMPLE i mean what kind of security concerns
could that potentially set? Off so there's a lot of
things to work out with. THIS i think they need
to go down this, track but there's a lot to work.
Out seven to ten time for traffic and whether together
are you going to make one stem.
Speaker 4 (01:29:52):
OUT i bet our friends At Generator, supercenter who we,
love are going to make nuclear reactors when that. Happens
so we're not going to forget about, You generator.
Speaker 3 (01:30:01):
Super right after we figure out how to make fusion from,
Garbage Like i'm back to the. Future, yeah and then
we'll be set when there's a. Hurricane all, right let's

Day it's the source that's the, same always been the.
Same Use radio seven FORTY. Ktrh That's Josh hayter's walk in.
Music seven twenty two is our time here In houston's morning.
News Adam wexler JOINS Us Sports talk seven, ninety home
of The Houston, ASTROS, h do you know what what
(01:34:53):
the walk up songs are for all the? Players at
this point you memorize those.
Speaker 32 (01:34:57):
Of The, well they got thirteen players this, year some
of them will be walking up for the first time.
Speaker 9 (01:35:02):
Ever, True so the answer is.
Speaker 3 (01:35:04):
No do you know What Jake myer's walk up song?
Speaker 26 (01:35:07):
Is?
Speaker 32 (01:35:08):
Again before the season, STARTS i couldn't tell you what
any of them are because they haven't, played and they
often will change them from season to.
Speaker 3 (01:35:15):
SEASON i know what it was last, year AND i
THINK i might have identified his problems at the. Plate
his walk up song is in The Air tonight By Phil.
Collins do that doesn't strike me as the kind of
song that's gonna inspire you to hit a home.
Speaker 32 (01:35:28):
Run, well they hope he certainly gets a lot more
than he has in the, past and he needs to
play a lot of defense this. Year considering who's gonna
be on his left and who's gonna be on his.
Speaker 3 (01:35:39):
Right, well that was the next THING i was gonna ask,
you what do you think of the Jose L twova?
Experiment is this going to?
Speaker 32 (01:35:43):
WORK i don't really see much of an opportunity to say,
no because it doesn't really seem like an. Experiment it's
a permanent position for him for all intents and. Purposes
they could move him back to, second but if they
haven't done that, Already i'm really not sure why they.
WOULD i guess they'd have to see it blow up
in their. FACE i don't think that's gonna. Happen So
i'm gonna, say, yeah it's going to quote unquote.
Speaker 3 (01:36:05):
Work you, know we've kind of been through this, before
Haven't we had made there's changes every, year and there's
been changes After World series, wins and you, know we've
we've lost a lot of big name players over the
course of the last seven eight. Years, uh you, Know
Carlos correa is not around. Anymore, look Here's Jereby painnye
does a fine job of taking his. Place nobody Misses Carlos,
Korea Alex, bregman that might be a little bit of
(01:36:27):
a different. Story Kyle, tucker that's a lot of offensive
firepower that's gone. Away what do you think of The
astros chances this year with the players that.
Speaker 32 (01:36:36):
They, Have, well you kind of noted it in your.
Question that's two players at the same. Time not to
mention you, Say, Kakuchi Ran presley And Justin verlander added
To bregman And tucker all gone at the same.
Speaker 7 (01:36:49):
Time that's what's.
Speaker 32 (01:36:50):
Different they haven't lost this number of players at the same.
Time and they're also clearly on the other end of
this golden era Of astros. Baseball they were a younger,
team there were a better. Team they had more firepower
during those individual losses Of springer And korea And cole et.
Cetera this one is very. Different but they also went
out and tried to make amends for. That Christian walker's
(01:37:11):
here estak ceretis is. Here they're allowing a rookie to
blow up in spring training and make the team and
be in the lineup later this afternoon And Cam. Smith
SO i don't think the drop off is what some
people might be worried. About but, again they were already
at the eighty, eight eighty, nine ninety win threshold to begin,
with which is probably about where they will.
Speaker 3 (01:37:31):
Be, yeah The Cam smith, story he's interesting in the
whole variety of different. LEVELS i think the video which
has gone viral AND i think everybody's watched, it maybe you,
know shed a tier or two over it with his
mom and dad coming in and into the locker room
and basically telling him making the announcement that you, made
you made The astros Major league, squad and his reaction
(01:37:51):
to it shows you that for these, ballplayers especially these younger,
ballplayers it's it's still very much it's still very much
the game of our youth right when we were, kids
from what we remember about teammates and baseball and the
emotional aspect of having something like that happened in your
life dawning on you the day last, Year i'm At Florida.
(01:38:12):
State Now i'm a major.
Speaker 32 (01:38:13):
Leaguer, yeah the game of your youth means your parents
are there for that part of the. Ride they are
that part of the. Ride they're literally giving you the
ride to get you all these. Plays that's What Cam
smith talked about with his mom being there for all
of this to help make this, happen to make sure
she supported him along the way and whatever she could do,
to you, know see if this was something that would
come to fruition and to have it happen so, quickly
(01:38:35):
this is a you, know this time last, year he's
playing college. Baseball this time this, year he's going to
be on the major league, field the field.
Speaker 3 (01:38:41):
He's never been on.
Speaker 9 (01:38:42):
Before it gets players.
Speaker 32 (01:38:43):
He's never been with, Before it gets you, know doing
things that honestly does not happen in major league. BASEBALL
a path to a major league game from the draft
just the year, prior so less than a. Year extremely
extremely rare to have this little amount of minor league
baseball in your professional. Career and, again none of it
was here with The astros, organization considering you just joined
(01:39:05):
them via The Kyle trucker. Trade so everybody feeling some,
emotions and the excitement, level which would have been high
anyway for this, team has absolutely been ratcheted up because
of the Camp smith.
Speaker 3 (01:39:16):
Story, right go ahead and make your. Prediction what do
you think The astros do this? Year do they win The?
West they win The?
Speaker 32 (01:39:22):
WEST i think it will be just as strong of
a race as it's been the last several. YEARS i
think The mariners And rangers definitely have a case to
be made that they will pass The astros this. YEAR
i just am not seeing so obvious that they, will
So i'll stick.
Speaker 7 (01:39:35):
With the team that's been there seven times in the
last eight.
