Speaker 1 (00:00):
Something tells me in their minds, that's what Harris County
officials think that a five hundred dollars a month free
money stipend is going to do. But I think we
know that that's not the case. And more importantly, the
Attorney General of the Great Say of texasan packs has
already ruled twice now that this is not legal, but
they keep trying to make it happen. Precing three Commissioner
(00:22):
Tom Ramsey joins us. Of course he's the loan just
sending vote against all this. Mischner, welcome back, Marry Christmas, sir.
How many times are they going to try to.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
Well, I guess until they run out of money. And
they have spent millions of dollars in terms of paying
lawyers outside lawyers inside lawyers. And this is the type
of stuff that drives I think people crazy. This is
what I think the election three weeks ago was about,
(00:56):
that people are tired of wasteful spending. Uplift two point
zero defined wasteful spending.
Speaker 1 (01:05):
What was the difference between two point zero and one
point oh or was there really any difference?
Speaker 2 (01:10):
Well, they their scheme and I'm gonna use that word,
their scheme this time was to rather than give you
a five hundred dollars checked, they're going to give you
a five hundred dollars credit card debit card, so you
can take this debit gift card out and spend it
on anything you want to spend it on. And and
(01:34):
they think that that's going to be helpful to people,
but it really really isn't. What the whole basis of
this was to, in my opinion, gather the mailing address,
the emails of phone numbers for over seventy thousand people.
It's not the eighteen hundred people that quote unquote won
(01:57):
the lottery. It's the seventy plus thousand people that they
got names, addresses and phone numbers on.
Speaker 1 (02:04):
All right, it's for all the people who applied for
something they can use to reach out next election time.
Speaker 3 (02:11):
Yeah, and how cruel is that? Yeah? No, getting seventy
thousand people's hopes up, that's horrible.
Speaker 1 (02:17):
I don't think they really care about that aspect.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
Do You probably don't.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
I mean, one other requirement is you could not live
in Precinct three and apply.
Speaker 3 (02:27):
There was no zip codes.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
In Precinct three, and believe me, we have underserved neighborhoods
in Precinct three, Jimmy, as you well know.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
Now, just don'm curious do you bring that up, Commissioner Ramsey,
Are there any other things right now that the other
county commissioners in the Harris County Judge are doing to
try to punish you and the people of Precinct three.
Speaker 2 (02:47):
Well, we continue to focus on infrastructure, public safety to
the constables. I'm still not funded to the degree I
need to. I have three hundred percent more roads in
Precinct one, three hundred percent, yet I get to save
them out in some cases less than less than Precinct one.
Speaker 3 (03:10):
That's simply not fair.
Speaker 1 (03:12):
No, well, again, you know, Precinct three is pretty overwhelmingly Republican.
That's the problem, right, It's not just that you're a Republican.
Most of us who live in Precinct three are Republicans.
Speaker 2 (03:22):
Two. That's right, And it punishes everybody all one point
to Mellion, people that live in Precinct three, underserved neighborhoods,
other neighborhoods. It's not just Republicans, it's everybody that lives
in Precinct three. They're choosing to punish because of politics.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
And of all the precincts, which is Precinct three. Do
you think the top revenue producer as far as property
taxes for hairscunting.
Speaker 2 (03:47):
Oh, oh, absolutely, I mean more than thirty percent thirty
five percent of all the rest of voters live in
Precinct three. It's the only part of the county that's growing.
There's more people live in the unincorporated area of Harris County.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
Than live in the city of Houston.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
The fifteen school districts are the leading school districts in
the county.
Speaker 3 (04:10):
Tom Ball Humble.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
So people move to where there are school districts, safe neighborhoods,
where people take care of the basics of parks and
other things. So yeah, and it's the only part of
the county that's growing. People are moving out of Houston
into unincorporated Harris County, which is Precinct three.
Speaker 1 (04:31):
I guess this's the very definition of redistribution of wealth,
isn't it. Thank you, sir, appreciate it. Precinct three Commissioner
