(00:00):
Flood Control District, Harris County MeteorologistJeff thanks again for coming on and giving
us some sense about what's happening.I think every storm is different, as
we've learned here over a period oftime. But do you feel like you're
having to train the bureaucrats too.I mean, now they're finally going to
release some water in advance, aren'tthey from the lakes? Yeah, you're

(00:24):
right, every storm is different, and you know there are measures being taken
for the rainfall potentially that we seecoming up to help potentially with some of
the rainfall and build some capacity intoboth like Conor and Lake Houston with the
upcoming rain. You know what's interestingabout this particular storm versus what we've kind
of seen over the past couple ofmonths is the rainfall looks to be focused

(00:46):
more down toward the coast. Sowe're talking Mattagorda, Bassouria, Galveston,
Southern Harris Chambers Counties versus what wesaw back in April and May, which
is up around the Huntsville and Livingscenario. And so that's gonna be a
little bit of a different likely scenariohere set up. So heavy rains coming

(01:06):
in especially as we get into Tuesdayafternoon and evening and into Wednesday morning.
Again, really south of IT tenlooks to be the heaviest potential in some
of those areas down there could seea half a foot of rain as we
get into Tomorrow night and Wednesday. Also, want to talk about the coastal
tides. I think this is goingto potentially be a big deal. We

(01:26):
are expecting, especially Wednesday morning,of the potential for water levels to get
up around five feet above mean lolow water. And what mean the low
water is that's the barnacle level. So that's the normal algae level that you
see down along the coast, andso that is going to produce some coastal
flooding Wednesday morning at those beach accessareas, low lying roads near the Gulf

(01:51):
of Mexico, Western and Gavistland ballOver could have some issues of on Highway
eighty seven, on Bolivar Shore Acresin Harrison County, Sebra San Leon Blue
Water Highway, all of those locationscan see some tidal influences as we get
into Wednesday morning. And also thewinds. The winds are going to come
up as those kind of broad lowpressure forms in the western Gulf of Mexico,

(02:14):
and we could see some thirty fiveforty forty five mile prior winds down
on the coast as we get intotomorrow. So conditions today relatively okay.
We will see some passing showers andshowers and thunderstorms, but it really starts
to deteriorate as we get into Tuesdayand lasting into Wednesday. Okay, And
this is a tropical system, sowhat we hope is it just comes run

(02:37):
through and keeps on going. Isthere any chance that the conditions will cause
some training storms. Yeah, Ithink there's some potential, especially Tuesday night
and Wednesday morning, for what wecall training or those storms that kind of
form up in these bands, thesekind of feeder bands, if you will,
and they kind of move over thesame area again and again, and
then that's where we could get someof those higher rainfall totals. The good

(02:58):
news is with high pressure building intothe southeast United States, this is going
to move on to the west downto south central Texas and eventually southwest Texas
hasn't getting into late week, andso it's not going to stall and hang
around like we've seen with other stormsin the past, and potentially this is
going to bring very beneficial rains outto central Texas and southwest Texas. Now,
they could be a lot of heavyrain with it, and there could

(03:20):
be some flooding out there, butthey desperately need some rainfall out in those
areas. So not completely all badnews for the state of Texas, but
we are going to have that kindof period of time from Tomorrow all the
way through Thursday and Friday, especiallyout west of US, where we could
see some flooding rainfalls. So weneed everybody to kind of keep an eye
on things. You know, nothingto be overly concerned about, but we

(03:43):
just need to keep an eye onthings. And this is kind of just
a reminder we're just getting going onthis hurricane season. We got several months
of this to go. Okay,Jeff, once again, thank you.
As always. We'll keep you onthat speed dial if there's such a thing
that exists anymore. Jeff Lidner,Chief Meteorologies of the Harris County Flood Control
District and of Harris County, We'llbe right back after this. Let's keep

(04:04):
