Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well and the girls, men and women. They're back in Washington.
D C. Representative Troy Nails joins us here on Houston's
Borning News. How are those mean streets of Washington, DC
looking since the President brought the National Guard in.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
We're back, Jimmy. We're back in session, both the House
and Senate. We got a lot of work to do.
Speaker 3 (00:18):
Most of us flew up here yesterday afternoon, some of
us getting up here under the darkness.
Speaker 2 (00:23):
So we haven't really seen the National Guard.
Speaker 3 (00:26):
I personally haven't seen National goud any troops around the
nation's you know, the capital complex, but we know they're here.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
We know that President Trump.
Speaker 3 (00:34):
Has had an enormous effect, very positive effect.
Speaker 2 (00:37):
On the crime. It's down.
Speaker 3 (00:39):
The violent crime has almost been cut in half, carjackings overall,
it's a much more.
Speaker 2 (00:46):
Say, it's a safe place. It's a safe place.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
Again for thousands upon thousands of visitors that come up
to visit our nation's capital.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
It's just a safer place to be. And we thank
President Trump for it.
Speaker 1 (00:56):
Well, and he also is talking about perhaps sending the
National Guard into Chicago to try to help them. Of course,
Chicago's fighting back on it. They don't want anything to
do with it. Do you think that the President really
wants to send the National Guard into most of our
blue violent cities or do you think that he did
it in Washington, DC because he knew he could, and
he's hoping that these blue city mayors and blue state
(01:19):
governors will take the hind and do something about it themselves.
Speaker 3 (01:22):
Well, but the blue state mayors and governors haven't been
doing anything to reduce crime in their cities.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
They just haven't done it. They don't seem to care. Chicago.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
I mean, yeah, last week, what fifty four were shot,
seven of them killed in Chicago. That happens almost every
weekend in Chicago, and it's been taking place for years.
Speaker 2 (01:42):
But what is the governor and what is the mayor
done about it? Very little.
Speaker 3 (01:46):
I don't think they talk about the crime in Chicago
because it's black on black crime, so they don't want
to talk about that.
Speaker 2 (01:52):
So I think if.
Speaker 3 (01:53):
President Trump can can protect the people in Chicago through
the use of the National Guard, why not.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
And that pig Pritzker, he's not in a lot of theaters.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
He hates the Boss, he hates Donald Trump, and so
I think at President Trump, he has to do what's
in the best interests of the American people and protect
the American people. That's what he said he was going
to do, not only at our southern border, but these
cities that are run by Democrats. Crime is out of
control and we must do something about it.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
I think my favorite video from yesterday. I don't know
if you've seen this yet or not represent of Nail's,
but my favorite video from yesterday came from the United
States Navy showing them blowing up a drug smuggler boat
with eleven Trendy I Ragua gang members on board and
tons of drugs. That was a beautiful thing to see.
Speaker 3 (02:38):
Yeah, you know what, there's so many drugs coming into
this country. We should almost be doing it on a
daily basis. We have to, I mean, defend holl coming in. Listen,
these are terrorist organizations. Trendyadawa is not our friend. It's
not a rogue government. They are terrorist organizations out to
cause havoc and harm and to line their pockets with
(03:00):
billions of dollars by poisoning our people, poisoning our women
and children.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
Everybody in this country.
Speaker 3 (03:08):
So many people dying from fentanohl and we have to
stop it, and I think this is a step in
the right direction.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
We must do it.
Speaker 3 (03:16):
So seeing eleven, I hope it becomes twenty two tomorrow
and then thirty three the.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
Next day, because it's killing our people. We got to
do this. All right.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
Well, let's talk about what's next on the agenda for
the United States Congress. We've got a little budget battle
that's brewing, and it sounds like Democrats want to or
at least start threatening a government shutdown like they usually do.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
It's not happening. The government isn't going to get shut down.
Donald Trump doesn't want the government to get shut down.
So we've got a couple priorities obviously here over the
next three weeks, and that is to pass the appropriations bills.
For your listeners, there are twelve appropriations bills. We have
passed two of them. We'll probably get two more done
this week. It's a short week. We go home tomorrow,
(03:54):
but we got to get all twelve. And if you
don't pass twelve, and many many times we don't get
the twelve pass, we just do a cr which is
a continuing resolution, which is just continuing to fund the
government into the next fiscal year from current fiscal funding levels,
so it's hard to get twelve appropriations bills passed. We're
going to do everything we can to get it done,
(04:15):
but there's always a battle in the House in the Senate.
And then you got the NDAA, the National Defense Authorization Actor,
which is all the defense spending, and that is a
big one.
Speaker 2 (04:24):
That's a big, big, big bill.
Speaker 3 (04:27):
It could be almost upwards of you know, almost a
trillion dollars and that's for funding all the military.
Speaker 2 (04:32):
So we have that as well.
Speaker 3 (04:33):
That is not an appropriations bill, that's outside of the
appropriations but between those two and then just fighting in
the Senate to get our nominees confirmed. And Chuck Schumer
should be ashamed of himself. We ought to cut his
legs from underneath him because he is out there just
completely obstructing President Trump and his agenda by playing games
(04:55):
with the rule in the Senate on our nominees.
Speaker 2 (04:59):
It's shameful.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
Well, and I'm guessing, and this is the last question for you,
serve will let you get back to work, And I'm
guessing there's going to be some investigations done. What's top
of the list, especially for James Comer. I know he's
got a couple of battles. He's trying to fight right out.
Speaker 3 (05:15):
Yeah, you saw it yesterday with the thousands upon thousands
of documents with Epstein, and I know that people want
to know. There's a lot of people that want to know,
they want everything released. I don't know if you're going
to find anything new in those thousands of thousands of pages.
I'm I'm sure somebody that's been paying close attention to
the Epstein case.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
And the files and probably already aware of most of
that stuff.
Speaker 3 (05:37):
But I just think, you know, we Yeah, it's important,
but we got more important things to do right now,
over the next you know, thirty days, we've got to
get it done. We cannot check down the government because
you're right, the Democrats will continue to blame the Republicans.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
It wouldn't be good for the midterms.
Speaker 3 (05:52):
So we got to get our act together and behave
and be united and support President Trump and his agenda.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
All right, sir, keep fighting a good fight. Thank you
for your time. That is Representative Troy Nails joining us.
It's six point twenty eight
