I'm optimistic that collectively we can reach an agreement that

Speaker 1 (02:05):
Actually think there won't be.
Speaker 6 (02:06):
I think that's even overrated.
Speaker 4 (02:10):
The Putin Zelenski meeting could take place within weeks, so
within a three day span, Trump met with both Putin
and Zelenski at the Capitol. Former Attorney General Bill Bart

about the Epstein files. Trump is delivering on yet another promise,
this one that critics said he couldn't, shrinking the federal bureaucracy.
Speaker 8 (02:45):
The federal government is on pace to shed about three
hundred thousand workers this year, which would amount to a
reduction of more than twelve percent. Fox Business analyst Brian
Brenberg says they've done it without mass firings.
Speaker 9 (02:55):
The Department of Education is offering some buyouts. To me,
it's part of the large picture of Look, those can't
end the department, they can shrink at big time, and
they're going after it with paychecks to say, why don't
you leave if you.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
Don't like it.
Speaker 8 (03:08):
The White House estimates eighty percent of those workers will

Public confidence in elections.
Speaker 4 (03:31):
Our speaker Mike Johnson says the Dems will try to
impeach Trump again if they win the majority next year.
Speaker 11 (03:38):
Right now, they're playing at kloy. They're not really playing
up the impeachment angle, but multiple one minute think that
this means that they don't plan on doing this. They're
salivating at the thoughts of impeaching Trump.
Speaker 4 (03:49):
Jeff Charles offtownhall dot Com says if they go through

What Texas is doing.
Speaker 12 (04:08):
We're just drawing fair maps as allowed by law, and
it will ensure that at least five more members of
Republicans will be serving in the United States.
Speaker 4 (04:17):
Congress and those maps will pass this week. Meantime, a
state trooper has been assigned to each Democrat lawmaker to
make sure they don't leave town again, but State Representative
Nicole Collier from North Texas remains in the House chamber. Overnight,
she said she refused to quote sign away my dignity

(04:40):
the DPS escort the runaway Dems got away with their
little stunt, and that's not making conservatives happy at all.
Speaker 13 (04:46):
Grassroots leaders are demanding that the results be massive punishment.
Speaker 14 (04:50):
Chairmanships should be revoked, they should be removed from committees.
I mean just basic things like this that you see
happen in Washington.
Speaker 13 (04:58):
For Ben County GOP chair b Everly warned that failure
to punish corn breakers could wind up hurting Republicans.
Speaker 14 (05:04):
It does tremendous damage to the Republican brand if we
lambathed these Democrats but then don't do anything to punish them.
Speaker 13 (05:12):
He says, something has to be done to show that
Republicans are in charge and will run things by the book.
Ethan Buchanan News Radio seven forty KTRH.
Speaker 4 (05:20):
Texas is following the law and redistricting Liberal California, on
the other hand, not so much. Congressman Daryl Isis says
that state is supposed to form a commission before redoing
the maps.
Speaker 15 (05:31):
They're asking for the voters to approve at abusive gerimandering
that would essentially say, your neighbor has no rights, let's
just vote him out.
Speaker 4 (05:42):
It is now five toho five. Here's a scary thoughts
socialists or on mom. Donnie leads the polls in the
New York mayor's race and it's not close. He's got
forty two percent of the vote, Andrew Cuomo twenty three percent,
current mayor Eric Adams just nine percent. And as Demo
crats move even further left, some gen Z Conservatives, yes
(06:04):
they exist, believe it's going to be up to them
to stop socialism from taking over the country.
Speaker 16 (06:09):
And that includes Hannah Beth Jones, vice chair with the
Texas Young Republicans.
Speaker 17 (06:16):
Yes, we see that and hear that from our members
across the state.
Speaker 18 (06:19):
We know it doesn't.
Speaker 1 (06:20):
Work, and so what does that look like for the
U Republicans.
Speaker 17 (06:24):
It looks like talking to Fenzi and younger millennials and
showing them the way socialism has just failed time and
time again that it really just doesn't work, and it's
not going to work if we try it again here.
Speaker 16 (06:33):

Speaker 1 (07:04):
Yeah, things aren't going well. I do not. I'm not
feeling optimistic about the rest of this season.
Speaker 10 (07:08):
You have little faith.
Speaker 1 (07:09):
It takes a lot for me to say that.
Speaker 4 (07:10):

Speaker 1 (07:21):
This is Houston's Morning News.
Speaker 17 (07:25):
Now.
Speaker 19 (07:25):
I would to love.
Speaker 1 (07:26):
This this segment because I love potatoes. Well, yeah, I know,
look at me, clearly I love potatoes. Now, there's a
lot of arguments about whether there's any actual nutrition in potatoes.
I don't care, really, I'm just talking about taste. I
just love potatoes, and there are potato people out there.
(07:47):
If you're a potato person like me, you know what
I'm talking about. You don't care about the nutritional factor.
You just you like potatoes. Today's National Potato Day. What
do you suppose the number one in here's a clue.
It has something to do with the song we just
played a little clip from What do you suppose is
the number one form of potato that people like to eat? Yes,
(08:10):
mashed potatoes came in number one. Number two potato salad.
That's interesting. That's like, I don't know about your house
is I know you can eat a year round, but
don't you generally eat potatoes out more in the summertime
they need to do any other time of the month.
Maybe they took this thing in the summer. Number three
baked potatoes I like mine, fully loaded, thank you? And
(08:35):
number four breakfast potatoes. Hang on, timeout, what do you
mean breakfast potatoes? That's kind of too generic. Are you
talking about hash browns? Are you talking about cottage fries?
You know that's basically slices of potato. Some people eat
that for breakfast. Some people eat the breakfast potatoes and chunks.
(08:57):
I like hashbrown, shredded, shredded. You know, there's some parts
the country where they call every breakfast potato a hash brown.
So if you order hash browns and you're thinking you're
gonna get treaded potatoes, you're gonna be disappointed because they're
not treaded potatoes. So anyway, that's the top four list,
mashed potatoes, potato salad, baked potatoes, and breakfast potatoes or
hash browns. Where the hell are French fries? This is
(09:21):
a crazy French fry eating country. French fries did make
the top four of the list. I find that very
hard to believe. All right, so here's my question of today.
We'll do it on the iHeartRadio app KTRH. Just to
hit the red microphone the talkback button. You get up
to thirty seconds. First name, where you're calling from, favorite
(09:41):
potato dish? How do you like your potatoes? Just want
to know how do you like your potatoes? I heard
radio app KTRH make as number one on your preset,
hit the talkback button, get up to thirty seconds. First

Guy Mike's here, What you a lease da? Dennis bump us?

be good, bootatoes. Guy got a little East Houston going in.
I want are we thinking breakfast burrito at this point? Okay,
let's send some two ninety.
Speaker 3 (10:13):

a big two ninety problem. Most people over there did.
This is two ninety inbound at Becker. I hope everybody's okay.
It's a has Matt's on the scene. I see that

fried toast over there. When I came back right and
I hope everybody's okay.
Speaker 3 (10:52):
This is all lanes blocked here, and they've actually shut
it down right after Roberts Road, so I know we've
got plenty of frontage there.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
Does Hempstead go that far yet? Well, it's business ninety
out there.
Speaker 3 (11:03):
If you could do your business via the Katie Freeway
or two forty nine. Jump on two forty nine. Give
me something to talk about, because I never talked about
two forty nine. Terry Skymike on the USA Rbresorts dot
Com traffic Center.
Speaker 1 (11:16):
From our KTI rah top Tax Defenders twenty four hour
weather center, Terry Smith is here. Did you bring some
breakfast potatoes?
Speaker 21 (11:23):
I did not, but I'm thinking we need to go
get some.
Speaker 1 (11:26):
Sure sounds good, little Hatch Brown action first thing in
the morning. A while you will stare at your radar
and tell us what's going on with Eron.
Speaker 21 (11:34):
Well, and some rain for us as well.
Speaker 22 (11:37):
So the latest done erin hurricane with one hundred and
fifteen mile an hour winds. It's weakened a little bit
since yesterday. Still a strong Cat three though, and will
remain a hurricane, maybe strengthen a little bit more by
tomorrow and still is expected to remain out over the Atlantic,
but there are tropical storm warnings for the Turks and
(12:00):
Case coasts at Turks and CA coasts, and tropical storm
watches for part of the Bahamas and for the North
Carolina coast because they may get some of those tropical
storm force winds. The tropical storm force windfield with Aaron
extends out over two hundred miles from the center, so
some gusty winds along the Carolina coast North Carolina Coast,
(12:22):
and obviously high surf. That's a real big concern. I
saw something yesterday yesterday Monday that in North Carolina they
had to rescue over sixty people from the rip currents
along the North Carolina coast, so very dangerous condition.
Speaker 1 (12:38):
I'm sure the red flags were flying too. I don't
know they were. Why. What is wrong with people will
go out there with red flags?
Speaker 21 (12:44):
Let me tell you something.
Speaker 22 (12:45):
Having gone to school in Florida for meteorology, there are
a lot of surf enthusiasts who wait for these things
to fire.
Speaker 21 (12:54):
Up the waters and they're like, you know, surf's up.
Speaker 1 (12:58):
Let's go all right, life jacket on?
Speaker 22 (13:00):
Then yeah, no joke, we're a tracking device and all that. Anyhow,
closer to home, we have some rain again, but we
also have some rain this morning. I was looking at
some showers and thunderstorms that's just off toward the north
of us at the moment.
Speaker 21 (13:18):
It's making its.
Speaker 22 (13:18):
Way southwest, so we might see a couple of sprinkles
this morning. We certainly have the possibility of more rain
off and on through the day today. Fifty chance of
showers and storms today and tomorrow.

All the info you need to take on the day.
All right, So a couple of things. We're doing a
question today on potatoes today. Now, No, not couch potatoes.
Not my dog Swiper, who looks like a potato. He's
half corky. He's got the corky body. It looks like
a potato, but he's not a potato. I'm talking about
real potatoes. It's Nashal Potato Day. How do you prefer
(14:05):
your potatoes? Your favorite potato dish. Are you a mashed
potato guy or gal? Are you a are you a
French fries? Did make the top form? Still shocked by that? Anyway,
You go to the iHeartRadio f kt r H. You
hit the red talkback button. You get up to thirty seconds.
First name where you're calling from, and your favorite potato

The fire's out, but man, it's it's not good here.
It's all lanes blocked. And again we've got plenty of

Make your severe weather station a preset on our iHeartRadio.
Speaker 1 (16:30):
And get information what you need to know. This is
Radio seven forty KTRH. All right, I don't think we
have any foodstamp babies listening probably this morning, but you
should know about the foodstamp program, right guess what this
will be shocking. I'm sure they found about I don't know,
m sixty six million dollar fraud bribery scheme, sixty six
(16:53):
million dollars with a USDA employee who's evidently selling food
stamps on the black market. So they arrested that employee
plus five others is a part of this ring, and
I'm guessing they're going to turn up a whole lot
more fraud in that program. The other thing that is occurring,
and something I really am happy to see, is that
we have more and more states that have decided, yeah,
(17:15):
we're in charge of administering the food stamps, but we
agree with the Secretary of Agriculture and the President, we
don't and with OURFK Junior, we don't really need to
be spending taxpayer dollars on sugary drinks and that kind
of stuff. So going forward, you want to buy that
with your own money, that's fine, but you're not going
(17:35):
to be able to use food stamps for that. So
here is Secretary Brook Rowlins on both issues.
Speaker 24 (17:40):
This is a new day.
Speaker 25 (17:41):
And President Trump promised as he was traveling across the
country over the last few years that it would not
be the government that we know the government certainly that
under Joe Biden exponentially grew and alongside that including the
fraud and waste and abuse, and so at USTA, we
are hyper focused, hyper focused on rooting out that waste, fraud,
(18:03):
and abuse. And to your point, yesterday was if not
the largest, one of the largest stings and moving forward
and finding that fraud I think almost seventy million dollars
that is no longer going to be allowed here in
Washington and with these programs like the food stamp program.
So we're going to move forward, obviously in partnership with
the FBI, with the Department of Justice, of course our
(18:25):
team at USDA.
Speaker 1 (18:26):
This is not the one and only. There are going
to be many more to come, and.
Speaker 25 (18:30):
We're going to make sure that we're delivering on our.
Speaker 13 (18:32):
Promises to the taxpayers. Well, we definitely want to see.
Speaker 26 (18:35):
Consequences and accountability.
Speaker 1 (18:37):
But let me move on.
Speaker 26 (18:38):
Sextuary, you approved state waivers to make America healthy again
by removing unhealthy foods from the SNAP programs in Indiana
and Iowa.
Speaker 13 (18:46):
On Monday, you approved the.
Speaker 26 (18:47):
First ever state waiver to restrict soda and energy drinks
from the food stamps in Nebraska. You're really zeroing in
on health and wellness for our young people and everyone else.
Speaker 1 (19:00):
Your thoughts tell us more. Well, I am really proud.
Speaker 10 (19:05):
I'll be honest with you.
Speaker 25 (19:05):
I'm a little surprised that this hasn't happened before. Right,
it's just common sense. This is the age maybe of
common sense in Washington that taxpayer dollars were being used
to fund lower income Americans purchase of sugary drinks and
junk food.
Speaker 13 (19:21):
Now, if they want to use their own money to do.
Speaker 25 (19:23):
That, of course, you know that's fine. It may not
be the best health choices. But the fact that taxpayers
have been funding this in a massive program. The number
one purchase with using taxpayer dollars was on sugary drinks.
So I guess for years none of those waivers that
had been submitted by the states had been approved.
Speaker 1 (19:42):
But we already approved.
Speaker 25 (19:43):
Nebraska was first, Iowa and Indiana were last week, and
then we've got several more announcements in the coming week,
and then a hopefully many many more to follow. And
this is bipartisan, Maria. This is not just you know,
Republican governors. It's Republican and Democrat working together to ensure
that we're providing the right sort of programming that we
need for our lower income Americans.
Speaker 1 (20:05):
And again, nobody is telling you what you can or
cannot eat. All we're telling you is is that your
fellow taxpayers aren't going to pay for you to eat
that stuff that has zero nutrition. You you're on food stamps, fine,
but you know when you rely on the government to
provide you with food, then you're going to be put
in a position where the government can tell you, to
a certain extent what you can eat. Five twenty six,
(20:28):
It is time to take a look at your money.
As we check in with Jeff Bellinger.
Speaker 23 (20:31):
And Jimmy good Morning, there is an upside, it turns
out to the new tariffs. S and P Global Rating
says revenue from the levees will help the nation maintain
its fiscal health. The credit rating company affirmed it's double
A plus long term rating for the US, in part
because it believes tariff revenues will help offset the impact
of the recent tax and spending bill. Home Depot posted

its quarterly results this morning. One key sales metric fell
short of forecasts, and that's suggest consumers are avoiding big
ticket purchases. And the flight attendant strike against Air Canada
has ended. The attendance union announced there's a tentative agreement
with the carrier. Union leaders say members should fully cooperate
with the resumption of operations. Stock market futures just a

The driver's okay. He was transported where it is.
Speaker 3 (22:10):
He was having some kind of trouble breathing, but it
looks like we're gonna be okay here. They had to
shut down the whole highway though, because of the fuel spill.
There's oil in the road. It's gonna take a while,
so they put you on the frontage road. There's plenty

than three hundred eighty arrests in the first week so far,
and new polling shows that the majority of Americans support this.
Fox is Joe cardinalis a retired tenant commander with the
NYPD and told k TRH this completely destroys the left's narrative.
Speaker 29 (23:26):
The Democratic Party is not the party that I know
from the John Kennedy days or anything close to it.
They make it an US against them situation in politics.
The president has the ability to help out. They should
welcome that because it makes everybody safer.
Speaker 4 (23:41):
The poll also has Trump twenty seven points higher than
Joe Biden on this issue. Last year, a report detailing
the five most crime infested cities into US shows that
they all have one thing in common. They're all run
by Democrats.
Speaker 30 (23:56):
It's the political disparagement of the President of the United States,
and they don't want to admit that their failed policies
have led to the outrageous crime and social disorder.
Speaker 1 (24:06):
That they have in their cities to this day.
Speaker 4 (24:07):
Former HBD Captain doctor Greg Freeman says many of these
cities are also manipulating their own data in order to
make it look like crime is going down five point
thirty three. After meeting with Ukraine's Vladimir Zelensky and other
European leaders, President Trump says a sit down between Zelenski
and Russia's Vladimir Putin is likely within a couple of weeks.
Speaker 31 (24:28):
Trump is a peacemaker, but you've got to have willing partners.
You can only expect so much from a single man,
even though he's the President of the United States. So
does that See if they can get in a room,
not kill each other, and come out willing to talk again.
Speaker 4 (24:42):
South Carolina Republican Senator Lindsay Graham with KGIHS Sean Hannity.
Latest polling is Trump's approval rating at fifty four percent
following his meeting with Putin in Alaska. The numbers from
Insider Advantage. It is now five point thirty four. Here
at home, Texas Governor Greg Abbott said the new congressional
maps could very well be passed by the legislature before
(25:04):
the end of the week. A House panel approved them
after the Dems came back from their two week delay tactic.
Speaker 32 (25:10):
It did not end the way it should have with punishments, handcuffs,
consequences for any of the road Democrats.
Speaker 29 (25:17):
No, no, no.
Speaker 32 (25:18):
The Speaker of the House welcomed them back in open arms.
Speaker 10 (25:22):
State Rep.
Speaker 4 (25:22):
Ryan Harrison on x DPS is now monitoring the Dems
to make sure you know that they report to work.
One of those Democrats, North Texas's Nicole Collier refused her escort,
so she's in the capitol locked there. It is now
five point thirty four. As you get your kids ready
for school, hundreds of schools in the state are unnoticed.
(25:45):
After the release a last week's accountability ratings.
Speaker 24 (25:48):
Across the state, hundreds of schools are inching closer towards
sanctions thanks to their failing grades. Clay Robinson with the
Texas State Teachers Association says, if a district gets five
years of ds f's, then their school board gets taken over.
Speaker 33 (26:03):
By the state and that basically takes away the voting
right so parents in that school district.
Speaker 24 (26:08):
The latest numbers show there are nearly three hundred and
fifty schools that have two straight years of failing grades.
The ratings are mostly based on Star test scores.
Speaker 4 (26:19):
That is ktrh's Beth Myners. Now, we've seen many school
districts in Texas transition to a four day work week,
about five hundred schools in the state across one hundred
and eighty one different districts. Unfortunately, it's going to take
some time to gauge whether or not this will actually work.
Speaker 20 (26:36):
There's a new research paper that served aid teachers in
districts that have moved to a four day work week,
and they look to see if it had made a
difference in their working editions, and it turns out that
it had not.
Speaker 4 (26:47):
Jonathan Butcher with the Heritage Foundation warns that student performance
also needs to be studied when districts consider moving to
this model. At five point thirty six, Gasoline prices tick
down across Houston to two sixty eight The calln thirty
four cents cheaper than it was last year under Joe Biden.
But there's a concerning number that we're getting from the
Texas oil industry.
Speaker 34 (27:07):
New numbers show the state's oil and gas industry shed
fourteen hundred jobs in July alone. Todd Staples, who heads
the Texas Oil and Gas Association, says there's a glot
of oil on the market right now bringing down prices.
Speaker 35 (27:21):
When you have other countries increasing supply, it can impact
industry growth plan.
Speaker 34 (27:27):
But he's optimistic that under President Trump, global market conditions

but you never looked at them, so.
Speaker 30 (27:55):
You didn't process them through your neuro network.

Five thirty eight is our time here in Houston's point
is is National Potato Day today? Number one potato in
the entire country. The mashed potato is the favorite according
to this pole. Anyway, on this National Potato Day, potato
salad came in second. You know where potato salad is
the most popular Texas. Yes, we have single handily made
(28:52):
the potato salad number two in the entire country. Make
potatoes came in number three. Breakfast potatoes otherwise known sometimes
as hash browns. See they need to be more specific
on the hash brown thing. Hash browns are shredded potatoes,
at least in my world. They're shredded. There are other
kinds of potatoes that you can get for breakfast. You know,
(29:13):
the cubed were's so some of the other ones cottage fries.
I think I mentioned that one before. There's several other
kinds of potatoes that some restaurants will call hash browns
that are really hash browns. But anyway, I've been asking
this morning for you to check in on the iHeartRadio app.
Make a number one hundred, pre set KTIH, you hit
the talkback button, get up the thirty seconds. First thame
(29:34):
where you're calling from, and your favorite potato in this
National Potato Day.
Speaker 37 (29:38):

a nice crawfish boil. Really really helped to bring out
the flavor.
Speaker 16 (29:48):
Good morning, Jimmy, Billy would Cooley getstrusted in?

Speaker 38 (29:59):
But man, my favorite type of potatoes are heart attacked potatoes,
mashed potatoes, and potato salad.
Speaker 1 (30:09):
Those are my top three. All right, what is a
heart attack potato? I've never I'm gonna have to look
that up. Is there such a thing as a heart
attack potato? Again, you go to the iHeartRadio, I have KTRH.
You get up to thirty seconds once you hit that
talkback button. First thing where you're calling from favorite potato
in this National Potato Day or favorite potato dish if

as we check it again with sky Mike, I.
Speaker 3 (30:36):
Think that was a heart attack potato. I think that's
what they serve at Dike and Park at the astros.
You know you even have for those, and that's exactly
what I want for breakfast. By the way, that was
Jack from Connecticut. He listens on the free iHeartRadio app.
You know who else is listening? John from Humble, Texas.
He's a flatbed driver. He was out in Phoenix listening
to us. It just makes me nervous to know people
(30:58):
all over the world can listen to us on the
app also talk back to us. Hazardous Russell Trucker's really
representing big rig Kevin and Trucker. Jeremy from Most City.
All right, here's the news I got from Tyrone. He's
a big rig driver too, two ninety inbound. This is
what I can see that all lanes are blocked down.
I see has Matt there. They're washing it down. It's fortunately,
it's nothing. It's the diesel and oil and that big mess.

Thanks to the Internet, I now know what heart attacked
potatoes are. Do you want to know? Towel It is
a nickname for funeral potatoes, A cheesy potato castroll dish
made with hash browns, cream of mushroom or chicken soup, cheese, butter,
sour cream, and topped with cornflakes or potato chips for
a crispy finish. I gain five reading that recipe from

Rkatie our Age Jeneral Supercenter, twenty four hour Weather Center.
Terry is there. She doesn't have a potato recipe, but
she does have a forecast.
Speaker 22 (32:32):
No, but I'm trying to decide between hash browns or
tato tots.
Speaker 1 (32:36):
I like, Oh I like a good tot. Yeah. Oh yeah,
like your tots crispy? Yes, yes, I do too, Yes, yes, yes,
that's the whole point.
Speaker 14 (32:45):
All right.
Speaker 22 (32:46):
As far as our weather goes, we're gonna be dealing
with some rain. I'm watching some showers and thunderstorms off
to the north. I don't think they're gonna do a
whole lot. You might get a sprinkle or two on
the for some of our northern suburbs this morning, and
then we got some rain near the coast, and then
the heating of the day kicks in and that's when
everything just goes bonkers. Fifty percent chants of thunderstorms wherever
(33:11):
you are today, especially for the afternoon, temperatures will arrange
anywhere from the low to upper nineties. Most of us
are going to be mid to upper nineties today fifty
percent chants and more thunderstorms Tomorrow, sixty percent chance that

Start time here in Houston's Morning News. So, Guestterday's big
summit meeting, if you will, between Trump and Zelenski and
the major leaders of Europe, they all met yesterday. They
all seem to be on the same page. They all
seem to have a plan here. You know, isn't Trup
just by pull this off? And certainly you could tell
(34:04):
that Zelenski handled this one much much better. First of all,
he didn't wear fatigues for change. He actually kind of
looked like a suit. Well more than that story coming
up next first though, this new traffic and weather together. Yeah,
he did it looked like Johnny Kats guy, But we
got it brewing on the toll bridge this morning. Put
your hard head on, Jimmy and Clifford. We've got southbound,
(34:25):
big old stall left lane. Everybody's okay. It's only two
lanes on this bridge.
Speaker 3 (34:29):
You know, one of these days these are gonna be

Speaker 1 (35:59):
Good, All the day's happening, growing economy right here, good
things are happening on Youth Radio seven ktrh. Yeah, dealing
with Russia could be kind of scary. They weren't dealing
with well, they were talking about Russia yesterday. Weren't dealing
with Russia. But you had the big meaning between President
Trump and President Zelenski and European leaders yesterday, and it
(36:21):
seemed to go as well as you could hope it
to go. It's certainly a lot better than the first
meaning did when they got into it. Here's General Jack
Keane's assessment of what happened yesterday.
Speaker 40 (36:33):
One is, I think Zelenski handled himself very well. They're
in the Oval Office meeting and suddenly the introduction to
the security guarantee meeting with the Europeans which we all
witness and start contrast till several months ago when he
managed to blow up the meeting in the Oval Office
in front of international American media. So that was a
(36:59):
vast improvement. And I really think which has already been sent.
All I can do is on the score. It is
the significance of what President Trump has done here. First
of all, so our audience on the stand, Larry. He
has been talking to these European leaders and Zelenski four
weeks and the dialogue virtually.
Speaker 1 (37:18):
Or on the phone on a regular basis.
Speaker 40 (37:21):
A case in point, after an exhausting day at the
Alaska summit, sometime between and two thirty in the morning
on Air Force one, which has very good secure comms,
he spoke to Zlenski and all those European leaders for
an hour and a half and finished up the conversation
(37:42):
on the tarmacris They didn't want to leave those secure
comms even though they had landed, And so this dialogue
has been continuous for some time. But bringing them together
and talking to each other is always more idol that
a virtual or even even a phone call. So he
(38:03):
understood that, but think of that.
Speaker 1 (38:04):
He calls them.
Speaker 40 (38:05):
It's early Saturday morning, their time, and he says, listen,
I want you to come to Washington on Monday and
we'll have a meeting with Zelensky and well iron out
you know what these security guarantees are, and what a
kind of a counter offer if Zelenski is willing to
do it would look like, well, that's Saturday morning. That
means they're all flying Saturday Sunday to get here. And
(38:28):
they most all of them were here last night given
all the security stuff I saw going on in town
last night. So uh, that's that's an amazing response given
who those leaders are. But it also, in my mind,
it demonstrates their commitment and the resolve here.
Speaker 1 (38:45):
And what's really amazing to me, many of these many
of these leaders European leaders in particular very critical of Trump,
very critical of Trump. Now they were like all on
board with them, I mean they are all in lockstep.
It is amazing what this president has been able to
do to get these sides all together. Now with a
lead to piece, who the heck knows, but it's still
(39:06):
an amazing thing to watch. Five fifty six You're on

I'm Jimmy Barrett moong. Our top stories they saf are
the Democrats are back in Austin, and Abbott says redistricting

with Putin and coming up at six oh eight, Trump
wants to ban mail in ballots. Details in the minutes
(39:48):
ahead here in Houston's Barning News. First, we're gonna say
male cheerleaders. No, no, maybe that's next guy, Mike. Let's
go to two ninety. Now, the driver's okay. They did transport.
Speaker 3 (39:58):
I've heard something about breathing problem, but it looks like
everybody's going to be okay. Two ninety is totally shut
down at Becker Road. It's one of those double FedEx
trucks and they got a fuel spilled. They got oil
the whole world. It's like a loaded potato out there.
So you might want to take two forty nine or

Those congressional maps are going to pass out on the

They will become law probably by the end of this week.
Speaker 4 (41:04):
Governor Greg Gabbitt dropping that bit of news with KTRH
Sean Hannity after the Dems returned from their two week
whatever it was. Now they have DPS escorts to make
sure they report to work, with the exception of one
state rep. That would be Nicole Collier, who's refused to
quote sign away her dignity and remains in the House
Chamber as of this morning. Other than that, no punishment,
(41:26):
no consequences. Conservatives are not happy. Fort ben County Gophar
doctor Bobby Everley wanted real impact.
Speaker 18 (41:34):
If you talk about removal from office, then there might
be some drawn out battles, some court cases, but there
are plenty of things you can do between that.
Speaker 4 (41:46):
He says, at the very least democrats, those Democrats should
have been removed from their committees. It is now six
oh three on ktr I.
Speaker 6 (41:54):
Believe a peace agreement at the end of all of
this is something that's very attainable, and.
Speaker 4 (42:00):
Trump says a face to face meeting between Ukraine's Vladimir
Zelenski and Russia's Vladimir Putin could take place in a
couple of weeks after Zelenski and other European leaders visited
the White House.
Speaker 5 (42:11):
What I have encouraged President Trump to do is it
is to resolve it in a way that is a
clear and discernible loss for Russia and Putin. Russia is
not our friend. Putin is not our friend.
Speaker 4 (42:22):
Texas Senator Ted Cruz there also in Washington, former Attorney
General Bill Barr telling the House Oversight Committee nothing that
he saw in the Epstein files links the president to
any wrongdoing. Democrats on that committee, though, are complaining as usual,
go down to DC.
Speaker 2 (42:40):
It is a it seems like they are going through
the motions and they want people to believe that they
are digging in.
Speaker 41 (42:46):
But at the end of the day, I don't think
that we've learned anything through the Republican questioning.
Speaker 4 (42:50):
Yeah, Texas congress Woman Jasmine Crockett there six ZHO four.
The President is now opened, or rather unpaced to shrink
the federal workforce by about three hundred thousand this year.
Boxs Brian Brenberg says, it's about getting more of your
money out of the swamp.
Speaker 1 (43:04):
Go down to DC.
Speaker 9 (43:05):
It is a city filled with BMW's and Mercedes, and
it's got like the highest real estate prices in the country.
And the reason is because all the money from around
the country gets sucked there, divvied out to lawyers, consultants,
and bureaucrats.
Speaker 4 (43:19):
Why Now says the vast majority of those workers are
leaving voluntarily through buyout programs. The President's also announcing plans
to sign an executive order prohibiting the use of mail
in balance and electronic voting machines in federal elections. We'll
have more on that tomorrow on Houston's Morning News. Meantime,
House Speaker Mike Johnson predicts another impeachment debacle if the
(43:40):
Dems wing back the House majority.
Speaker 42 (43:42):
It's not exactly a shocking prediction, but the Dems have
stayed quiet on it.
Speaker 11 (43:47):
Democrats are actually plain at smart and they're not talking
about an impeachment because they know that's a losing issue
for them.
Speaker 42 (43:54):
Jeff Charles Oftownhall dot Com says they're salivating at the
chance to do this again.
Speaker 1 (43:59):
And Walt Johnson, right, this ridiculous battle is never over.
Speaker 11 (44:02):
They're not going to tie on piece them once. They're
going to do it as many times as they can
before he's out of office. So that's really what that
stake here.

With Democrats now focusing on socialism, is the future for
the US. Hannahbeth Jones with the Texas Young Republicans Group
says it's going to be up to gen Z to

Speaker 17 (44:26):
Yes, we are a generation that's ready. It's gen Z's
turn to kind of carry the torch and expanding freedom.
I mean here in Texas and we live in a
really wonderful state, but it doesn't stay that way unless
we work to keep it that way. And so I'm
excited at seeing gen Z legislators coming into office.
Speaker 4 (44:41):
Which is the opposite of what they're seeing in New
York six ZHO six looking at your money overnight. Training

peace in Europe, cashing out your four to oh one

Speaker 1 (45:55):
Please please screaming us both by vote by mail. That's
that's a Democrat probably streaming. I'm pretty sure the Democrats
are screaming by mail to this morning because President Trump
yesterday said he wants to get rid of mail in ballots.
He's going to get rid of those by executive order.
(46:15):
In fact, he has evidently not only pledged to end
mail in voting, but also is going to draw up
an executive order to end the use of mail in
ballots and voting machines ahead of the twenty twenty six
mid term elections. He wants to go back to paper ballots. Well,
(46:37):
this is gonna be well first, first of all, count
on this to go to court, and I'm not sure
he's going to win this one, but that aside from
a practical standpoint, the states make up their own minds
about how the voting is going to occur. I don't
know if he can ban a state from actually having
(46:59):
mail in ballots. But the reason why he wants to
do it is he believes it's a great source of cheating.
And I think he's absolutely one hundred percent correct about that.
You know, there's one story that claims that Vladimir Putin
told him that the American elections were rigged because of
mail in ballots, and not to disagree that that might
be the truth. I don't know if Vladimir Putin said
(47:21):
anything to him about that or not, but you know,
the Russia hoax thing kind of continues. If he didn't,
it's just an opportunity to try to link the president
to Vladimir Putin. By the way, and did you see
how much his poll numbers have gone up. He's approval
ratings up over fifty four percent now since he met
(47:42):
with Putin. So whatever it is these democrats are trying
to do, they are wasting their time. Because the American
public loves most of what they see this president doing
right now, and they might agree with him on Maile
in ballots, it might be time to just completely revamp
(48:02):
our election system.
Speaker 41 (48:03):
Here.
Speaker 1 (48:05):
We have to secure the vote, and the best way
to secure the vote is in person voting. Now we
can talk about it. Maybe we should talk about why
don't we do it an executive order and have a
national election day officially a day off from work. You
have no excuse why you can't go to vote. And
I you know, as long as the ballots is secure,
I have no problem with early voting. But there's a
(48:27):
lot of shinnanigans that happened with the mail in ballots

us have in. Common we'll tell you what it. Is
texas federal judge rules Before september, first whether not to
block the new state law requiring The Ten commandments be

and to the measles outbreak that The left was so concerned.

Air in, general though there hasn't been much enforcement other
than HAVING dps watching these, guys is. Far last TIME i,
checked nobody's levied any fines against these. People, nobody nobody
has really come up with any sort of. Accountability does
there need to be more accountability? Here, hey, well good,
Morning thanks thanks for having me.
Speaker 17 (54:06):
On.
Speaker 1 (54:07):
Yeah you know what's interesting.
Speaker 48 (54:09):
Is they're they're being, tailed, right they're being followed this,
time so they can't leave or supposedly can't. Leave but
what does that say about the first? SESSION i, mean
is it was it just designed to be a throwaway
and they knew this was going to. HAPPEN i, mean
because the word you, know out there in the base
and the and the movement is very. Frustrating because even
(54:33):
at the national, level one of the things that excited
voters going Into november was this idea of accountability that,
hey you might have run things in your state or
on the national level one, way but now we are
going to look at this, corruption get rid of, corruption
and hold people. Accountable we still haven't early seen it
at the national. Level and now here In texas you've
(54:55):
got this glaring example where people left the. State there
were all these threat of, hey we're going to arrest,
You we're going to vacate your, offices and nothing has been.
Done and what's really frustrating is that now they're. Back you,
Know Gene, wu the leader of The, democrats put out
a statement, saying we killed this corrupt special session and
(55:17):
withstood unprecedented, surveillance whatever that.
Speaker 33 (55:20):
Means and he's still on the redistricting.
Speaker 1 (55:24):
Committee he's still on.
Speaker 48 (55:25):
It and so when you consider that they created these
these vice, chairmanships those people should be removed from, those
even positions on.
Speaker 1 (55:34):
Committees they should be.
Speaker 48 (55:35):
Removed budgets should be, lowered and no one has received.
Speaker 1 (55:39):
Anything so it's like they.
Speaker 48 (55:41):
Got a free pass and we're able to just you,
know destroy the special session without any kind.
Speaker 1 (55:47):
Of repercussions at. All and you, KNOW i blame two
people first and foremost for. This and this may seem
a little, harsh but BUT i don't think anybody will
argue with me Over Speaker Dustin. BURROUGHS i don't know
if you heard his speech yesterday when they gavel in the,
quorum but he basically, said, oh it's so nice to
have you, back and you, know let's get to work
on some. Stuff, okay, kids you know that kind of.
(56:08):
TONE i, mean he's the he's the major problem right.
Speaker 40 (56:11):
Now, yeah and.
Speaker 10 (56:13):
People are tired of.
Speaker 1 (56:14):
That they are they're tired of just this what it
seems like you've heard this.
Speaker 48 (56:19):
Word there's a uniparty where it's we fight to Make
texas A republican. State and in many ways it doesn't
seem to mean.
Speaker 1 (56:27):
Anything, well it has to mean.
Speaker 48 (56:28):
Something we've earned these, majorities just like you work for
that razor then majority on the national level in THE Us,
house we don't have a razor thin. Majority we've got
a good majority in The Texas, house and we should exercise.
Speaker 1 (56:42):
That we should use that to our.
Speaker 48 (56:44):
Advantage and instead it's, like, hey welcome. Back it's all,
good you, Know and and who knows what's going to
happen with this. Debate all we did was give The
democrats time to stall and put out press releases and
fundraise off of. This and and there needs to be
some penalties or else people will lose faith in the
(57:05):
process and motivated voters people respond To republicans doing the right.
Speaker 1 (57:11):
Thing that affects future. Elections, well and we'll see If
governor having to moves forward on. THIS i see him
as being also part of the issue here because he's
just happy they're. Back and he, knows, hey we, won
we won this. Thing we're going to have redistricting by
the end of the. Week it's gonna. Pass so he
just seems to be happy to take that win and
let The democrats. Slide.
Speaker 48 (57:32):
Right, well the thing is is that the statements were
put out. Right we did our version of the strongly worded.
Letter so what do we do with this strongly worded
letter when we say we're going to vacate, offices WHICH
i think is very. Valid if these people abandon their,
duties if they did not show up to, vote which
is their, job then they abandoned their. Office let's get
(57:55):
some new people in. There and nothing is coming of that,
too so it kind of loses its, weight loses.
Speaker 1 (58:01):
Its sting if you say things and don't follow through,
it right and, all this is very very, bad don't
you think for The Republican, party because if they don't take,
action then then people, say look at this same, old
same Old. Republicans you, know they talk a good, game
but they don't do. Anything and that is the absolute
worst thing that could. Happen because, again we've got this.
Speaker 48 (58:20):
Momentum we have a movement that is populist and that,
means you, know looking out for the person that doesn't
necessarily have.
Speaker 1 (58:29):
That, power have that. Voice we are that. Voice but
in order for it.
Speaker 49 (58:33):
To maintain this, momentum we have to have, results and
we have to go after the corrupt politicians and when
you see a whole fifty five or so that just
leave and show their corruption and.
Speaker 48 (58:47):
Their abandonment of. Duties if we don't do, anything that
will affect our morale and our willingness to get out
there and do those things that volunteers.
Speaker 1 (58:57):

country who are moving to these four day work, WEEKS i,
mean this is what they say that they're trying to
(01:32:30):
do by changing the.
Speaker 1 (01:32:31):
Schedule, okay so maybe that's not the real. Reason, WELL i,
MEAN i.
Speaker 39 (01:32:37):
Think the disappointing thing is it's not accomplishing even what
they say it. Is but the bigger issue here is
our schools a job program for adults or are we
trying to create quality options for? Kids, well and that
has not come up enough in the discussions.
Speaker 1 (01:32:52):
Yet, yeah and this is coming at a, time by the,
way when we have about three hundred and fifty schools
here In texas they are in danger of being taken
over by the state because of their poor. Performance AND i, mean.
Speaker 39 (01:33:04):
Look the math and reading scores nationwide are nothing to
get excited. About AND i, mean we're just now, finding, finally,
finally states that are recouping where they were before the.
Pandemic and that wasn't even a great place to be
because math and reading scores were already on the decline
before the pandemic. Started, so you, KNOW i think unless
(01:33:24):
there's some sort of magic happening with a four day
work week and longer school days or you, know a
more rigorous, CURRICULUM i don't see how this is helping young. People.
Speaker 1 (01:33:34):
YEAH i don't. Either and at the end of the,
DAY i mean those that have made the switch to
a four day. Week there's been so few of them so,
far we don't really have any data to Track dewey
as far as being able to tell whether or not
they're you, know they're able to get the instructional time
in how those students' performances, are we don't really know.
Speaker 39 (01:33:51):
Yet, well we don't, know and if you, know they're
waiting say, three four or five years to figure out
what the data tells. THEM i mean by that time
a kid's graduated from high school right or they've moved
out of elementary school in middle, SCHOOL i, mean you're
halfway a quarter of a way through a child's educational.
Career so we don't have time to wait. HERE i,
mean what we should be doing is reinforcing the teaching of,
(01:34:14):
phonics especially in, first, second and third grade before kid
gets to fourth, grade and they need to be moving
to a rigorous math curriculum that starts algebraic ideas even
coming out of middle. School they need to be setting
kids up so they can take pretty calculus and even
calculus if they choose in high. School otherwise you're not
preparing kids either for the workforce or if they choose
(01:34:36):
to go off to. COLLEGE i, mean these are the
things that schools need to be working on.
Speaker 1 (01:34:39):
Well and if you are trying to improve teacher, morale
you don't necessarily do it by having them work one
last day a. Week how about you give them support
in the. Classroom how about you back them up when
they're having an issue with a child and a. PARENT
i think for the most, part these teachers are quitting
because they don't feel like they're getting support from the. Administration,
(01:35:00):
well you're exactly.
Speaker 39 (01:35:01):
Right the evidence these days on student misbehavior in classrooms
is it's very. FRIGHTENING i, mean, again coming out of the,
pandemic students are going back to school and the issues
of student misbehavior are. Up so too are issues of
chronic apps and teaism, right which means students missing ten
or more days a. Year to have both of these
(01:35:23):
things on the increase should be you, know it should
be very worrisome to principles and school. Boards and the
issue is not to make less. SCHOOL i think the
issue is to get back to some of the foundational
ideas that you, know help students succeed in prior generations
that we've gone away.
Speaker 1 (01:35:40):
