the new buzzword. It's all over the mainstream media. Democrats

what affordability is.

affordability issue.

Speaker 2 (07:27):
Not if you're going to dress me up like an elf.
Five O eight is our time here in Houston's bing News.
Good morning, Welcome to the show. We've got a lot
of stories to get to today, including a story about
cash Battel. Did you see this? This appeared in the
New York Post. It's a conservative publication by Miranda Devine, who,
(07:48):
by all reports seems to be a Trump supporter. At
least it's not Trump ader, but it doesn't paint Cash
Battel in the very pretty picture. More on that coming up,
but first let's get Let's get to the story that
always bothers me, which is dressing up pets. We've gone Halloween.
I've kind of given up on the Halloween thing, I
have to have been. I saw a video the other
(08:09):
day of somebody who dressed up their little chihuava like
like Chucky, you know, from the from the horror films,
and and and send it out to scare the crap
out of their other dog, which is a pit bull.
Speaker 3 (08:23):
It was pretty funny.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
The pit bull just freaked out over the Chihuahba that
looked like Chucky. But when we start getting into Christmas sweaters, uh, mistletoe,
dally bops, all that kind of stuff, can we can?
We can we kind of admit to each other that
maybe the whole dressing the family dog thing has gone
too far. I'm not going to bring cats into this.
(08:45):
If you decide that you want to try to wrestle
with your cat. I'm not the world's biggest cat fan.
I'm I'm pretty sure that at least one of my
cats at home that that loves my wife but does
can barely tolerate me, is plotting secretly to kill me
my sleep. So I'm not worried about, you know, whether
or not we want to put a christmasweater on her.
(09:06):
She deserves to have a Christmas weater. But for the dog,
I would never do that. The swiper, my dog. He'd
be willing to do it because he'll do almost anything
to please me, but I wouldn't do it to him.
But I find this very interesting. The top fifteen cities
where pet parents most likely to make their pets dress
up for the holidays include number one Midland, Texas Number one,
(09:32):
Dickinson City, Pennsylvania, Lexington, Kentucky. Amarello came in number four,
Johnson City, Tennessee. Winter Garden, Florida. Lubbock came in number seven.
That's in the top ten. That's three Texas cities most
likely to dress up their dog for the holidays. For Christmas, Pensacola,
Florida came in number eight, Florence, Kentucky, number nine, Athens, Georgia,
(09:55):
number ten, Portland, Oregon, number eleven, West Jordan, Utah, number twelve, Antioch, California, thirteenth, Roseville, Michigan.
That's a suburb of Detroit. Came in fourteenth in Cape.
Speaker 14 (10:06):
Coral, Coral, Florida.
Speaker 2 (10:07):
Overall pets Marts is ninety percent of pet parents planning
to involve their pets and holiday festivities. I'll give my
pet a stocking with goodies, but I'm not going to
put a Christmas sweater on them. And by the way,
what do you think this is just a guess, because
this is not a part of the survey. What do
you guess the dog most likely to end up in
a holiday costume would be my boat's going to Chibaba's.
(10:31):
And I'm not quite sure because Suahas are kind of mean.
I'm not quite sure why they're not fighting back five
to ten time for traffic and weather together.
Speaker 3 (10:38):
Yeah, that's got to be it. I would bet money
on Chihuahuah.
Speaker 2 (10:41):
Do you think that's why we had three of the
top fifteen cities.
Speaker 4 (10:44):
Well, I had one because and he really actually loved
wearing stuff like we had sweaters for him.
Speaker 3 (10:50):
I think it was my first wife. I can't remember well.
If we want to put a sweater on them, to
take him outside because it's cold.
Speaker 4 (10:55):
Oh and we had a Christmas sweater. Okay, loved it
because he was cold natured.
Speaker 3 (10:59):
I call him my little neck dog.
Speaker 4 (11:01):
I'm surprised Santa Fe didn't make that list. By the way,
let's head up the golf freeway coming up from Santa Fe.
There's nobody at Santa Fe listening this morning. We look
good so far at Texas City. Up into downtown, rocking
long thirty nine minutes, no problems here. If we check
to twenty five from the hard work and east Side,
we look good. One forty six into the East Loop,
nothing doing and rocking around forty five north. Let's do

we're finally going to see a little sunshine, A little.
Speaker 19 (11:40):
Bit of sunshine, not as chilly as yesterday, although temperatures
are still well below average, becoming mostly sunny today, mid
fifties this afternoon, a bit of a north breeze at
times today, mid forties Tonight, the clouds return Tomorrow. We
could see a shower late in the afternoon, highs in
the mid sixties, but our best rain chances are going
to come overnight Wednesday night and through the day on Thursday.
Temperatures on Thursday the mid fifties. Still a few lingering
(12:01):
showers Friday to finish out the week, mid fifties. Dry
weather builds back in for the weekend with sunshine and
highs in the sixties.

Speaker 2 (12:22):
After the news there is a couple of stories circulating
about several people, Dan Bongino at the FBI. I'm trying
to remember who else is on the list, Pete Hegseth
and maybe the most damning story, I mean, if you
(12:42):
care about you know damning stories is a story about
how vain evidently FBI Director Cash bettel Is. It's written
by Miranda Devine doesn't seem like the kind of story
that she would normally write, especially about the administration, so
it kind of makes you wonder what's behind all that.
(13:03):
Uh More on that story coming up next, first of
a five twenty. Let's do what traffic and weather togethers
is that? Is that wrapping paper and not wrapping Christmas
gifts here this morning? Oh it's football wrapping. It's not
much for me to do right now. By the way, Jimmy,
who do you think you're so vain?
Speaker 3 (13:17):
Is about? I have no idea. Okay, most people have
like a baby. Maybe I think it's Mick Jagger, Mick Jagger, maybe,
she says vain. All right, let's do some south side again.
Speaker 4 (13:29):
We're looking at your golf freeway now we have that roadwork.
It's a it's a lifestyle between t Ki Island and BUCkies.

Speaker 4 (13:38):
Now, League City up is about thirty minutes up into downtown,
so problems, we're problem free Southwest Freeway. Let's go from
sugar Land up. We're twenty one minutes up into the canyon.
Northbound Katie Freeway is going from Pinoa Road all the

the high today cloudy. Tomorrow's slight chance of an afternoon
shower sixty four. Better chance of seeing some showers, maybe
even few rumbles of thunder on Thursday. It looks like
Thursday is going to be a slightly warmer version of

What happens ext the things are happening right.
Speaker 3 (14:57):
Here on News Radio seven.
Speaker 2 (15:02):
So does FBI Director Cash Battel have a vanity problem?
There's a story in the New York Post written by
Miranda Divine, and the story kind of goes along the
lines of demands the cash Betel made right before he
spoke at the news conference after the Charlie Kirk assassination.
Megan Kelly and her guest on her podcast were talking
(15:24):
about the story and a little intimated a little bit
about the story itself and maybe about the motivation behind
the story.
Speaker 21 (15:32):
Mostly it's focused on Cash Battel, and the thing that
they're really zeroing in on is what they say is
like a vanity, I guess of his a vanity that
they talk about how when he flew out to.
Speaker 3 (15:43):
The Charlie Kirk.
Speaker 21 (15:46):
Staging, like the FBI staging in the wake of it,
who was insistent on getting an FBI jacket brought to
him on board the plane before he disembarked, and that
he apparently did not have his own. Quoting here FBI
raid jacket with him. He refused to step from the
plane without wearing one. That FBI special agents at the
(16:07):
Salt Lake City Field Office, busy working on the Kirk
case quote, had to stop and ask around to find
an FBI raid jacket, a medium sized one that would fit.
When a jacket belonging to a female agent was delivered
to Pateel on the plane, he complained that quote, two
areas on the upper sleeves did not.
Speaker 14 (16:23):
Have velcro patches attached.
Speaker 21 (16:26):
And then he would not leave the plane quote until
you had two patches to cover those areas quote. So
members of an FBI swat team took patches off of
their uniforms and ran those patches over to Patel at
the airport. The patches were then attached to the loner
FBI raid jacket, and Patel disembarked from the plane.
Speaker 3 (16:44):
It's a very negative story. It's a very negative report.
Speaker 22 (16:47):
So you got to ask yourself, you know, how did
this thing get done, and how did it end up
with Miranda, and how did Miranda decide to write it up.
These are not the only stories like this about cash Betel.
There's other stories, but most of them have circulated in
places like the Washington Post in New York Times. So
it's a bit of a mystery. But you've seen the
(17:08):
same things with Pete Hegseth and to some extent with
Christy Non, which is you just again, it's not liberal media.
It's it's people who love the president, who care about
the president, who are using different outlets, in this case
the New York Post to put out there there's problems.
It's hard to escape the conclusion that the people are
(17:30):
motivated by a desire to get the president to make
a change in personnel, and he it's not done that yet.
Speaker 3 (17:37):
Interesting.
Speaker 2 (17:39):
So the theory here is that because it's being written
in a more conservative publication by somebody, and this gives
Miranda Divine, who is friendly to the Trump administration, that
she's probably being fed information from people who are close
to President Trump who don't think that Cash Betel, for example,
(17:59):
is the right person to be FBI director, or don't
think that Pete Haigseth is the right person to be
head of the Department of War, and are trying to
embarrass them in an attempt to get the President to
make a change That would make more sense. Now, I
don't know enough about the job the cash Betel's doing
(18:21):
or Pete Haigseth, for example, to judge whether or not
they're right and whether or not there should be a
change made. But clearly there are people that are supportive
of the president that are not supportive of some of
his cabinet choices. Five twenty six. You're in Houston's Morning News.
Time to take a look at your money and good morning.

Houston police opened fire on an armed robbery suspect on
the North Side.

for Texas's school choice program, which we'll launch next year,
are now out, and while they seem like a good start,
we are already seeing some calls for improvement.
Speaker 20 (25:05):
Get rid of that requirement for schools to be accredited
for two years. This is basically a barrier to market
entry if you're a new school, provider of micro school
things that can be very useful in rural areas.
Speaker 5 (25:18):
Corey Dangelis with the American Culture Project says, overall, it's
a great pilot program for school choice. About two thirds
of registered voters a four year college degrees aren't worth
the cost. It's up from about half eight years ago.
Workplace expert Jennifer Jones says it's a familiar story now
for college graduates.

They're in debt, they're coming out and they've got you know,
the job salaries are not where they thought they would be.
Speaker 5 (25:42):
And of course there are the advancements we've seen in AI,
which has had an impact on this The summer's deadly
Hill Country flooding is leading to more oversight of summer camps,
and camp owners are in sticker shock over the proposed
hike and license fees.
Speaker 35 (25:57):
Last year we paid gosh nine hundred and sixty four

Speaker 2 (26:36):
Right now, by the way is our Tembacher five thirty
eight here on Houston's Porting News. All right, colder weather,
colder Weather's here, of course, It's it's all relative, right,
compared to what they're dealing with up north. This, This
is no big deal. Some of us are. Actually I've
actually learned to like colder weather. I've with eight eight
Houston summers under my belt. Thirty nine doesn't seem so
(26:59):
bad anymore. It's got a nice little break from the
heat and actually get my air conditioning a rest, although
my air conditioner was running right before Thanksgiving. Here's the question,
and this is the thing you argue about every winter.
I don't care who you are, where you live, what
household you're in, there's always there's always a tussle over
(27:20):
the thermostat. There's a tussle here at the radio station
over the thermostat. Every now and again, somebody will perceide
me who has the temperature set for like eighty degrees.
I don't know if he suffers from senior citizen syndrome
or what the story is, but eighty degrees. You come
in here, it's like a sauna in here. So I
(27:40):
turned that thing down to seventy two. But for the
winter months, I like it a little a little bit cooler.
So I have I mean not that I follow with
the US Department of Energy tells me to do. They
want you to set your thermostat for heat to sixty
eight degrees. When you're a sleeper out of the house,
they want you to drop it even lower. Now, I
will say that there is plenty of studies who show
(28:02):
that sleeping is much better if it's around sixty five
sixty six degrees. You will actually sleep better if you
keep your thermostat lower when you're sleeping. So the bedroom
is set for sixty five at our house right now.
The rest of the house is set for sixty eight.
(28:23):
Not because the US Department of Energy is telling me this,
but because I know from practical experience that sixty eight
is warm enough. You can always grab a blanket if
you're cold, and that I do sleep better when the
temperature is cooler. That always sleep better in the winter
than I do in the summer months. But I'm just
kind of curious because I'm everybody's different. My wife and
(28:43):
I agree in the temperature that's rare. Usually have one
person who's always hot and the other person who's always cold.
You're always arm wrestling over the thermostats. So I'm curious,
where is your heat set to and where where we
do find it? Where do you keep the house, where
do you keep the bedroom at? You go to the
Iheard Radio app KTRH. It tells why, tells why while
(29:05):
you're at it, why you'd have it set that way?
And you go to KTRH on the Iheard Radio app,
hit the talk back button, up the thirty seconds. First name,
where you're calling from, and where your thermostat is at
this morning? Five forty time for traffic? And whether together?
What's the ghetto house? At the ghetto house?
Speaker 3 (29:20):
I don't know. I need ken.
Speaker 4 (29:21):

know what thirty is. For some reason, my Mini split

how to make it normal again.
Speaker 3 (29:31):
And it says I'm at thirty, So I don't know
if that's good.

All right, do we or do we not have an
affordability crisis in this country? H there's an interesting piece
in the American Thinker about that that that questions the
use of the language, especially as relates to crisis. I mean,
just because things have gotten a little tighter with your budget,
is that a crisis we'll have? Because you know, you
put crisis on anything, you'll get more attention for it.

Speaker 2 (34:04):
Well, we're all paying our bills, right, and those fills
have been going up and your salary may not have
been going up in order to match what's been going
on with inflation. That's where you get the affordability factor.
And you see just about every talking head in the
country right now talking about affordability, whether something is affordable
or not. Even saw a guy in Fox Business yesterday
(34:25):
who said that he thinks the real poverty line for
a family of four is one hundred and forty thousand
dollars a year. Now, he's in New York, Okay, so
maybe that would be true in New York. But if
we really got to the point where the poverty line
is one hundred and forty thousand dollars a year for
a family of four Richard rosso joins US Financial Planner,
(34:45):
Let's start with the poverty line. Where do you think
the poverty line is for your average American family of
four Richard.
Speaker 24 (34:51):
Oh my god, Well, the average earnings for a family
is roughly around sixty thousand dollars. And frankly, there's enough
social sup or And there was a study done years
ago that shows you, if you took advantage of all
the social safety nets out there, you probably didn't even
need to work. So listen, we're a country that poverty
(35:12):
has pretty much been eliminated. And when you look at affordability,
which is the latest bugaboo, it's different for every household,
which makes it a challenge you what you find irritating
in your inflationary budget, Jamie could be very different than mine.
Mine may be gased and I see gas going down,
but yours may be staked and your troubled, or I
(35:35):
have children going to college. So this this is a
moving target. When it comes to affordability, everybody's going to
have an opinion, and to some degree everybody.
Speaker 10 (35:44):
Is sort of right.
Speaker 38 (35:46):
But coming up with one formula to.
Speaker 24 (35:48):
Fix it all is absolutely impossible.
Speaker 2 (35:51):
I agree that it's important. Let's let's expand on this
a little bit further though, And you brought up a
great point here, because what is affordable what is, and
it depends on what your priorities are. If your priority
is to take a vacation, you may have spent eight
thousand dollars on the vacation a couple of years ago,
then now will cost you eleven or twelve thousand dollars.
(36:12):
But if taking that vacation is a priority to you,
then you'll find a way to make it affordable.
Speaker 24 (36:17):
Well, you'll find a way to make it work. And again,
as you look at the soup of this, and you
have to realize that President Trump, the perception is reality,
and the perception as he hasn't done much to lower prices.
When you look at CPI prices have studied, I mean inflation.
The rate of change is between two and a half
(36:39):
and three percent, which is sort of reasonable, but people
don't care about that. They care about when they go
to the store. Prices are still high as they were.
There's only one way to bring those prices down, and
that's some sort of buyer strike. And if you've got
that going on, you've got an economic contraction and.
Speaker 8 (36:54):
Deflation, which is worse.
Speaker 24 (36:58):
There that's the problem with saying I'm going to fix it.
But politicians are running on this and some of the
politicians are who are running on this are the ones
who are okay with inflation at nine percent, which is
the real irony. That's how desperate people are to get
prices lower, and no one can figure it out. So
you've got this issue. The American Thinker had an article
(37:21):
about it's regulatory. Yeah, it is regulatory. It's also personal responsibility.
I am living in the most exciting age of America
with AI and if I want to increase my personal
capital and learn, I have multiple avenues to make more money.
Because it really comes down to this. It comes down
to real income. It comes down to inflation adjusted income,
(37:43):
and real personal income was up two point three percent
this year through August. But you look at and it's
about a nineteen year average. But there are some things
that in that formula the BLS has that doesn't count,
like taxes, property taxes, and homeowners insurance, which is killing people.
Speaker 8 (38:01):
So real wages.
Speaker 24 (38:02):
If listen, if I was making four five six percent
in real wages, then inflation probably wouldn't bother me as much.
You have to find a way for the masses who
live on income, not stock gains and house games. They
live primarily on cash flow and income to raise those
real incomes, and then this would put the affordability issue
(38:23):
to bed.
Speaker 3 (38:24):
Right.
Speaker 2 (38:24):
I agree, I think you're dead on right. Thank you, sir,

She's running against Republican Matt Van Epps. President Trump says
the world is watching this race, and Aaron Evans, with

Speaker 8 (41:51):
The fact that we're even talking about this being a
competitive seat and even being a concern should be alarming.
The challenge the Republican Party has how do we get
people who are energized about the president to show up
in special elections. It comes back to turn out.
Speaker 5 (42:05):
It's a district that Trump won by twenty points last year.
Texas Congressman Troy Nails is the sixth Republican to announce

fact that she's not good at her job, never was

All that aside, you know, it's sad to think that

you get right down to it. The announcement evidently coming

(46:16):
The thirty three year old judge was married to David James.
They separated on their first anniversary, less than a year
after their December wedding in the Philippines, so didn't even
make it a year. Normally, that's the honeymoon stage a year, right.
How do you wear out your welcome in a year?
(46:37):
How does that fall apart so quickly? Supposedly they had
been together for ten years prior what happened now I
don't know, obviously I'm not privy to their personal information,
but you got to think that maybe this is the
first time they actually lived together. That's the only thing
(46:59):
that comes to my mind. You could be with somebody
for ten years and at the end of the night
You're going back to your own place where it's quiet
and where it's sane, and where nobody's saying crazy stuff
to you or yelling at you or doing any of
that kind of stuff. Maybe it was the cohabitation that
was a problem. I mean, he obviously knew what he

was getting, right. If you're whistleboy for ten years, you've
seen it at all. So as far as what happened,
who knows, but you know again you hate to see
it happen. But that's just seems so disposable. I mean,
have you really tried everything you can try? You know,

a wreck here. Channel thirteen's chopper tells me they're going
to go over there. Take a look on the way
to Galvisston. So this is causing big delays. It's Port
Road southbound, huge backup northbound. They're also responding the other way,
so that's telling me bad things are happening right here.
Speaker 3 (48:23):
Let's skip over to Red.
Speaker 4 (48:24):
Bluff forty five southbound between Temble and Parker. We had
a back order slip. They just cleared a wreck off
the left lane there. I got some backups from West Mountain.
Is that a wreck on two forty nine Lance from
Magnolia Way in I'm looking at nineteen sixty and I
see a big scooch here. I know there's roadwork there,
but I'm getting reports of a wreck.
Speaker 3 (48:41):
Also.
Speaker 4 (48:42):
We've cleared that stall now off of two ninety that
was inbound right at the ramp that goes to the
Heights on six to ten North Andrew Most City.
Speaker 43 (48:50):
Dude, Good morning, Mike.

We certainly do.
Speaker 19 (49:16):
We've got some clouds around here this morning, but I
think they will quickly break up and we're headed for
a mostly sunny sky today. Still a bit chilly out there,
not as cold as yesterday, but I think temperatures are
going to reach the mid fifties here this afternoon, with
a bit of a north breeze out there. Mid forties tonight.
Colder though north and west of the city where we
might actually see some readings again in the thirties. Clouds
will increase as we head through the day on Wednesday,
(49:36):
could see a shower late in the afternoon, a little
milder Tomorrow, mid sixties. Our best chance for rain and
even storms will be Wednesday night and Thursday. Chilly, Thursday,
mid fifties, lingering showers possible Friday to finish the week
mid fifties, and then sunshine back in over the weekend
as temperatures climb up through the SIXTIESEPAG.

I'm wondering if shaming people who have no shame works.
I guess we'll find out. We'll talk to Curtis how

Speaker 2 (51:39):
Six twenty two. Our time here on Houston's Morning News.
All right, a site dedicated to fake news is pointed
out by the White House has been launched. Caroline Lovitt,
the White House Press Secretary, making that announcement Friday as
an example of the they put up that. You know,
the Democrats have been the six Democrats who who did
(52:00):
that video telling the troops to basically disobey the president
if if if he's if they're they're given them illegal order. Well,
one of them was asked to name one illegal order
the President Trump has done, and they couldn't come up
with one those surprise there. Curtis Houp joins US Media
(52:22):
Research Center. I guess the premise is to shame these folks, Curtis,
But can you shame somebody who has no shame into
changing their behavior.
Speaker 31 (52:29):
Well that's a good point, don't I don't know if
these guys actually are capable of shame, but I think
this is I love this. I'm a huge fan of
this because it's not just simply like listing an outlet
and saying you.
Speaker 3 (52:42):
Suck this one.
Speaker 31 (52:43):
The White House on their page white house dot gov
slash media bias, they run down and they have it cited.
They currently has thirty one entries, and they list the claim,
they list the publication, they list the reporters, and they
even have it sorted into categories. You know, my favor
favorite is you know, they've got misrepresentation, omission of context,
(53:04):
the lie. But for certain people like Whoope Goldberg, they
just label it left wing lunacy, which is my personal favorite,
and I'm partial because they they've cited NewsBusters in some
of these, but they run through the offense, the facts,
key points and links to back up their points, not
(53:25):
just simply saying these reporters are wrong, which I think,
you know, kind of goes with how we do things
at Doocebusters.
Speaker 2 (53:32):
Well, and that's perfect if you are trying to reach
an audience that's really interested in that, in other words,
the people who are in the middle, who have not
made up their minds, who want to know all sides
of the story before they do make up their minds,
to provide them with something other than the mainstream media narrative.
The problem is is that we've just become so partisan
by nature that at least a third of us will
(53:54):
buy into whatever the left is saying, a third of
us will buy into whatever the right is saying, and
it's that I guess you're just trying to reach the
a one third that somewhere in the middle that hasn't
made up their mind.
Speaker 31 (54:04):
Well, yeah, I mean that certainly is true that we
are kind of stuck in a partisan thicket, so to speak,
and that's definitely not changing anytime soon. However, I do
think that you know, if we're fighting, if we say
we're going to fight for every voter, because as we've
seen a lot of these elections have come down to
the wire, you don't actually have to cite the White House.
You can cite the links that the White House supports,
(54:26):
because I think that's why this one is particularly helpful.
You don't have to push back by just simply saying, oh,
the White House shows this thing that the liberal media
word about them isn't true. They provide sources to explain
why they're not true. And they're more they use other
liberal outlets to debunk said liberal points, which I think
is particularly interesting. So it's kind of a randombout way
(54:46):
of using the White House to kind of get your
point across. And you know, I think it's fun and
I don't think it's particularly harmless, and it's fun to
take a pin to these people that just have such
inflated egos.
Speaker 2 (54:59):
You know, there's a buzz going on in the media
write down and I know you've heard it a million times.
I want to see what you think of it. It's
called affordability crisis. Everybody's all the mainstream talking about the
affordability crisis. They obviously want to tell you that here
we have President Trump and you can't afford to buy
things because he was going to fix inflation, but he
hasn't fixed inflation of course, what they don't tell you
(55:21):
is the Biden years of inflation that led up to
where we are at right now, and the price is
really stabilized, but they don't go backwards, and if they
do go backwards, that's a bad.
Speaker 31 (55:30):
Thing, right exactly. Yeah, it's more about slowing the rate
of increase. You know, gave me Klobachar tweeted that over
the weekend, like I forget it was like electric bills
or it's just general inflation. It was this huge thing
and like, look how high it is under the president,
whereas the entire spike came in the Biden presidency. I mean,
this is what Bernie Goldberg wrote about when he wrote
(55:51):
his book Bias, you know, twenty thirty years ago, talking
about how during the Reagan presidency, CBS News and the
like discussed that, oh my gosh, there's homeless this in America,
but they didn't really do an energy McCarter or you know,
anybody else or go Clinton. So it's very similar here.
They're playing catch up. They're playing ketchup. But you know,
(56:13):
I think people see the gas the national average is
now three dollars a gallon, which is something we even
had in four years that's like tangible results that I
think the Americans can point to.
Speaker 2 (56:24):
All Right, Curtis, thank you as always appreciated media Research Centers. Curtis,

Speaker 5 (01:00:02):
The White House put out the MRI that Trump had
as part of his physical doctors gave him a clean
bill of health. The White House is also rolling out
a media Offenders of the Week website. It's a new
effort to expose fake news. Curtis Hawk of NewsBusters says
this is a harmless way to point out the increasing bias,
and really it comes at a great time.
Speaker 31 (01:00:25):
Is smart from a strategy standpoint, because you give it
a few weeks now with the news cycle back at
a fever pitch, and I think people will kind of
be clamoring to find out who it's going to be
at the end of a week, and the White House
can easily drive engagement.
Speaker 5 (01:00:40):
With dot he says, though some Liberals will take this

four here at home. The rules for Texas's school choice program,
which officially kicks off next year, have been announced.
Speaker 13 (01:01:10):
The rules make it clear that this isn't a handout
to the rich, like some Democrats claimed.
Speaker 20 (01:01:15):
Well income families benefit from school choice more than anybody else.
This is a big deal for families who couldn't afford
private school before.
Speaker 13 (01:01:22):
Corey DeAngelis with the American Culture Project says the next
step is to expand access to school choice further.
Speaker 20 (01:01:28):

Speaker 5 (01:02:00):
New opportunity among those energy markets which are greatly needed
for data centers. And speaking of those data centers, combine
their need for power with this week's cold snap, and
you've got fresh new concerns about the Texas power grid.
Speaker 46 (01:02:15):
The rise in data centers is straining what is already
a tight grid. Earlier this year, the governor signed legislation
that gives the PUC the power to remotely disconnect what
are described as large loads as a way to conserve electricity.
Speaker 8 (01:02:28):
Well, they give them twenty four hours notice and they
could dispatch them for as long as they need them off.
Speaker 46 (01:02:33):
Michael Jewele with a conservative energy networks as data centers
are on board with the plan, they buy electricity on
the open market, and during a power crunch like winter
storm Muri that price goes through the roofs.

This is near a University of Texas's campus. She was
pronounced dead at the scene. At this time, we don't

This is Houston's Morning News.
Speaker 2 (01:04:04):
Yeah, there's oftentimes a couple's war going on in the house. Mercifully,
I don't have that going out of my house. The
wife and I agree on what temperature we want the
house to be at. It's wintertime now or as close
to wintertime as we get, and the heat is set
for sixty five in the bedroom because you can always
(01:04:29):
put on another blanket and you sleep better when it's
really cool. I have a friend, by the way, who
does that in the summertime. I don't know what his
elector bill looks like, but he turns it down to
sixty five years the ac turned out to sixty five
to sleep at night, and you know that costs a
little bit of money. But the question of today is
because the energy department comes up with their usual recommendations.
Not that I care what the energy department tells me.
(01:04:50):
I don't follow the energy department, but they came up
with their normal recommendation. Don't set the thervice down any
higher than sixty eight degrees for the winter.
Speaker 3 (01:05:00):
You should not heat your home too higher than sixty eight.
Speaker 2 (01:05:03):
Well, what if I'm old and I got thin blood
and sixty eight feels like forty eight degrees to make?
Speaker 3 (01:05:09):
Can I turn it up just a little bit? No,
set it for sixty eight.
Speaker 2 (01:05:13):
So I'm just And then again you got the couples
who say, well, I want a war No, I want
a colder. So I'm kind of wondering what the deal
is at your house? Where is your thermostats set for
the heat for the Winner? You know, my furnace hasn't
even kicked on yet for the first time, at least
I don't think it has. Luckily, I got enough insulation
(01:05:33):
in the house where they you know, I can turn
the fireplace on and heat the first floor no problem.
So anyway, where is your thermostat?
Speaker 3 (01:05:41):
Said?
Speaker 24 (01:05:41):
You?
Speaker 2 (01:05:41):
Go to the iHeartRadio, I have KTRH. Hit the talk
back button where your heat is set for the winner?
And why he Jimmy, this is Paul and caddiot. My
thermos Dad's set to sixty seven degrees. Gotta save money
on that oil.
Speaker 48 (01:05:55):
Bill, Jimmy, as you were speaking, I was in here
and in the living room area, and I just just
turning down the thermostat to seventy degrees from seventy six degrees.
And the wife's in the bedroom, and normally it's hotter
in there, so I ain't gonna tell her though, until
she figures it out. But it's hot out here. I
(01:06:16):
mean it's hot inside the house. Okay, it's cold outside here.
Speaker 2 (01:06:21):
It's cold outside here too, in the thirties right down. Yeah,
don't tell her. She'll figure it out soon enough, and
then then you can wrestle over the whole thing. Six
forty time for traffic, b leathers. What's that's gonna make?
Why I turn everything up? I see, I figure I
can always take off.
Speaker 3 (01:06:35):
More clothes, so that's why I keep betting. Well, eventually
you get nicked, nicked right, Ray, welcome to Texas. And yeah,
you just set.
Speaker 4 (01:06:42):
That thermostat to thirty celsius whatever that is?
Speaker 2 (01:06:45):
Eighty six degrees. Guy, Mike, you don't want thirty celsius? Okay, Well,
thank you.
Speaker 4 (01:06:50):
Weslop six ten southbound right at Bracewood look Out. I
got reports of a wreck. Does trend start know about it.
Let me help them out, all right. So this is
southbound west Sloop going through Meyer Lamb Braiswood. Boy, look
at that Scotch from bell Air. That's got to be
at least eight to ten minutes on the southbound northbound.
We cleared the stall out of the center lane at
Hempstead and NJ just have us struck there, but we
(01:07:11):
got the backups from Woodway going this way forty five north.
We still have the back order slip at Parker. I
don't have the lineage yet, we can't get eyes on it,
but we got backups from Tidwell. I believe that six
extra minutes this way. Lance from Magnolia's on two forty nine. Gota, dude,
Lance from Magnolia.
Speaker 3 (01:07:27):
I know I'm a forgotten freeway.
Speaker 10 (01:07:29):
And there is not a wreck at nineteen sixty.
Speaker 15 (01:07:33):
It is a.
Speaker 3 (01:07:34):
Service truck inside the construction zone.
Speaker 4 (01:07:38):
Back in the old days, we didn't have to talk
about two forty nine. But I see these backups now
right before nineteen sixty from Cyprus Wood and you're losing
about six minutes this way Go Freeway starting to smunch
up just a little around waffle House at Airport northbound.
I'm Skymike from the Ability Tree Experts Traffic.
Speaker 2 (01:07:54):
Center tri setting up for twenty two degrees celsius. You'll
you'll be happy, we said in English. That is going
about seventy one seventy two degrees from our KTRH Generator
super Center twenty four hour whether center. Ken Boone is here,
he's got the forecast for you. I think the heat's
kicking on for a lot of folks this morning.
Speaker 3 (01:08:11):
Again, it certainly is. It's a little chili out there
this morning.
Speaker 19 (01:08:14):
Temperatures, depending on where you are, anywhere from the upper
thirties to low forties. So chili start here today. And
we're gonna be a little bit milder than we were yesterday.
I put that in quotes because it's still gonna be
a pretty chilly day today. Lots of sunshine, though, that'll
help make it feel a little bit better, a bit
of a north breeze. Mid fifties this afternoon. That's still
about ten to thirteen degrees below where we typically are
(01:08:35):
this time of year. Mid forties tonight, clouds increased tomorrow,
we could see a shower late in the day, milder tomorrow,
mid sixties best chance for rain will come through Wednesday
night and Thursday with scattered showers and even storms. A
chili day Thursday, with eyes in the mid fifties, some
lingering showers around during the day. Friday, otherwise cloudy and
chili to finish the week, mid fifties, sunshine ahead for
the weekend. Temperatures expected to climb back up through the
(01:08:57):
sixties for both Saturday and Sunday.

Most big cities have things like parades, Christmas parades or
tree lighting ceremonies. Even Portland, Oregon had a tree lighting ceremony,
(01:09:26):
but they're tree lighting ceremony. They didn't want one. Not
only did they not ever mention the word Christmas, they
did a lot of other things you would not expect
to find at a tree lighting ceremony. More in that
story coming up next.
Speaker 3 (01:09:42):
First.
Speaker 2 (01:09:42):
So it's six fifty. Traffic and weather together your sky mine.
Speaker 4 (01:09:44):
All right, Well, so we've southbound, lookout for this wreck

Galleria trying to go to NRG let's reroute to the
Southwest Freeway two eighty eight instead north, we cleared the
stall of Hempstead Highway Advisors, you're slow Katie Freeway from
Grand Parkway forty five north. It's the second back order slip.
(01:10:07):
This time they're about to clear Parker. But look at
that's much now coming up from cross timbers.

Oregon not like your normal tree lighting ceremony in a
regular place on Planet Earth. Portland, Oregon is not a
regular price Here is this from Outnumbered yesterday, Emily Compogno
(01:11:41):
sharing the story of how they did their tree lighting
in Portland.
Speaker 43 (01:11:45):
Outrage has spread across the country after speakers there failed
to mention the word Christmas during the city's annual tree lighting.
The celebration was only referred to as the tree lighting,
with a group leading the event erasing the word as
they protested alleged genocides.
Speaker 33 (01:12:02):
Watch on this Native American heritage day.
Speaker 3 (01:12:06):
I hold both gratitude and truth.
Speaker 1 (01:12:09):
The tree that we stand beside was once rooted in
its own home.
Speaker 49 (01:12:12):
No, there's a full blown genocide happening live streaming in
four k. You know, I feel like this is a
perfect time to bring this up. I felt like this
is a perfect time to put them up there and
for your guys' prayers, for every single one of the Palestinians,
all their press peoples.
Speaker 43 (01:12:28):
Okay, they didn't stop there. Another featured speaker draped in
a Palestine flag broke the crowd out into a free
Palestine chant just moments later.
Speaker 49 (01:12:39):
And so if I could get a free, free.
Speaker 43 (01:12:41):
Palestine, free free Palestine.
Speaker 3 (01:12:49):
Thank you.
Speaker 43 (01:12:50):
Critics tearing the city apart on social media, for example,
wondering why they can't say the word Christmas, questioning how
things got so divisive, so ridiculous, and one person going
as far to say that it will, as a captain
obvious point.
Speaker 3 (01:13:05):
Always be a Christmas tree.
Speaker 14 (01:13:07):
That's the thing.
Speaker 43 (01:13:08):
And you know what, Rachel, having spent a lot of
time there and I still in Portland, yes, and the
surrounding area. It is fascinating to see what a tiny
microcosm of that it has become. And everyone with common
sense and appropriate values and north stars and not sensory
ship and people who believe in God and talk about it,
(01:13:30):
and all the things have moved outside of the city.
So all of the counties around it are normal where
you can say Merry Christmas. And my dad at his
small business has an annual Christmas tree lighting the day
after Thanksgiving. But there it seems to have just become this,
this tumor. And I think that we're seeing the result,
which is that people are voting and responding with their
(01:13:51):
feet and how they move.
Speaker 2 (01:13:53):
Dieed you hear that there's some normal people who live
outside of Portland, Oregon. They're just all the nuts are
inside the city. Why would you why do you even
bother to have a tree lightning ceremony if you're not
lightning a Christmas tree, if you're not just sharing a
generic Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, seasons greetings. Well, because it's
(01:14:18):
an excuse to get a crowd together and to throw
the propaganda up there right exactly all right time for

In tennessee is just outside Of. Nashville Aaron evans is
with this president of Winning republican. Strategies we're talking about
a race in a reliably red State eron where the
margin between The democrat and The republican is like two
percentage points last TIME i saw WHETHER i think about
(01:30:19):
five percent. Undecided so this is an election that obviously
is too close to call and could go either. Way
why is this such a close? Race, YEAH i think
that's the million dollar.
Speaker 8 (01:30:30):
QUESTION i, mean we're talking about a district That President
trump won by twenty points just last. Year and, so you,
KNOW i think a couple of. Dynamics one with special,
elections you, know it always is a little. Tighter those
are the elections that you have to pay more attention
to because people aren't. Expecting it's the middle of the.
Holidays people aren't expecting to be.
Speaker 3 (01:30:53):
Voting you.
Speaker 8 (01:30:54):
Know we just you have elections In, november you have
elections maybe you, know primary, season and and, uh no
one's going into The christmas season thinking about. Voting and
SO i think that in and of itself presents a
challenge and uh and so so really it comes down
to voter enthusiasm and which party has their base fired
up the, most and the two most powerful motivators are
(01:31:17):
are fear and. Hope AND i think right now The, democrats,
uh you, know have the fear. ANGLE i mean they've
definitely uh continually, weaponized uh firing people up on The
democrat side against the president and and uh The American First,
agenda that's that The americans voted for at. Large but
you've got a, small small minority that's very uh you,
(01:31:41):
know very energetic right now with The democrat base uh
in that. District and and so you, know we've got
to get the vote. Out republicans have to turn out
to vote.
Speaker 2 (01:31:50):
Or sometimes maybe the candidate is not everything you would
want him to. Be what can you tell me about
The republican, nominee Mad Ben? Epps what kind of guy is?
Speaker 8 (01:31:57):
He, look you, know V f is a phenomenal. CANDIDATE
i think he's a great.
Speaker 20 (01:32:02):
Guy.
Speaker 8 (01:32:03):
Uh you, Know President trump has said he's going to
be a champion for uh The American First agenda and
a strong member Of. Congress you, KNOW i think that
at the end of the, day you, know it's it's
a short, uh it's a short election. Process AND i
would actually say this as as someone who's led winning
campaigns and you, know had some losing campaigns over the.
(01:32:25):
Years you, know it's uh in a in a in
a race like, this it really is on the campaign.
Speaker 3 (01:32:33):
To deliver the.
Speaker 8 (01:32:34):
Message and so uh you can have the best candidate
in the. World but you, KNOW i would when When
i'm looking at these, numbers you know there's something missing
on on how the message is getting uh conveyed to
the voters. Themselves SO i would probably be MORE i
would probably be looking a little more uh closely at
(01:32:57):
the campaign itself versus the, candidate knowing that this is
a great and he's going to be a great member Of.
Congress but you, know we've got to get better As
republicans on get out the vote, programs and we've got
to get better As republicans on how do we connect
with These trump only voters who vote in presidential. Years
AND i, MEAN i think that's a problem we've. Seen
(01:33:19):
we just saw it In, virginia we saw it In.
Georgia you, know how do we get people who will
show up to vote For President trump and for his
agenda with passion to show back up and vote in

ways and, ultimately when that, HAPPENS i do think that
you start seeing losses. Occur and you, KNOW i mean
one of the things we used to kind of joke, about,
(01:34:07):
uh we we'd make fun Of obama for being a community,
organizer and, it's you, know what the heckx of community?
Organizer and and, LOOK i think The democrats have proven
to us what a community organizer is since two thousand and.
Eight AND i mean they they've, uh you, know they've
they've organized like crazy and and they get their base.
OUT i mean they have, uh coalitions and groups and
(01:34:29):
and and micro, targeting and they know who their people
are and you, know AND i feel like that's the
type of Infrastructure republicans have to get serious about if
we're going to really compete in this new landscape over
the next you, know, decade is, uh you, know we
we've got To we've got to do some of the same.
Stuff and right, Now republican campaigns, typically you, know we
(01:34:51):
depend on, uh you, know mail and texting and digital
and you, know and all those things are, great but
there's very so all them a real grassroots infrastructure in,
place whereas The democrats really have the communities organized and
they know who their people are and they get them
out and that makes a big.

Speaker 19 (01:46:38):
Ken it is, chilly not quite as chilly as, yesterday
but it's certainly well below, average only reaching the mid fifties.
Today typically we're in the upper sixties this time of,
year so we're a good bit below, average and that'll
be a. TREND i think it'll carry us right into
and through the. WEEKEND i think we're going to stay
below average mid forties. Tonight clouds will increase, tomorrow see
a few showers late. Today it'll be a little milder,
tomorrow SO i think we'll climb up towards mid sixties tomorrow.
(01:47:01):
Afternoons still below average, though best chance for Rain wednesday

Station News radio seven forty K trh story about the
demise Of Social. Security to, me it's a lot of white.
Noise but knowing that we have listeners On Social security
and how easily people On Social security get scared or
the idea of a reduction in benefits or something happening
(01:47:37):
to Social, SECURITY i feel compelled to cover the, story
AND i trust a little bit about what Ej antni
has to. Say he's been a frequent guest in our,
program also frequent guest On. Fox they had a discussion
about this latest report that says that Social security would
become insolvent by twenty thirty three without some major. Changes
(01:47:59):
here they, ARE.
Speaker 39 (01:48:00):
I think you're going to have to have those structural changes.
Now to be, clear we don't want to pull the
rug out from, anybody, Right it's not as if someone
who's already getting benefits we want to see big cuts. There,
no but younger generations need to be. Told look for
a lot of you, folks the system is not going
to look like at the time of your. Retirement it's
not going to look like what it does. Today that's
(01:48:20):
just the. Reality we're not having enough. Kids the population
is not growing fast. Enough, specifically the number of working
people is not growing fast.
Speaker 3 (01:48:28):
Enough and if you're going to.
Speaker 39 (01:48:29):
Keep A ponzi scheme, going which, sorry, structurally that's what
Social security. Is it relies on an ever growing increase
of people paying into the system to pay for today's.
Speaker 3 (01:48:39):
Retirees if you're not.
Speaker 39 (01:48:40):
Going to keep that, growing that, population that working, group then,
yeah you are going to have to make structural.
Speaker 3 (01:48:47):
Changes that's the math.
Speaker 40 (01:48:48):
Taking you, agree, yes, absolutely the viewers some get angry
every TIME i say that a couple retiring this year
is take making out three dollars out Of medicare for
every dollar that they paid into the.
Speaker 28 (01:49:04):
System so it is people who are.
Speaker 40 (01:49:06):
Currently working paying taxes into the system who are covering those.
Individuals and it's not quite as extreme With Social, security
but there's a couple retiring this year is still taking
out more than they paid, in and so the security
hits insolvency in twenty thirty. Three Also Medicare's Hospital Trust
(01:49:29):
fund runs out of money that same, year and there's
an automatic benefit cut to eighty nine cents on the
dollar being paid. Out and This, congress these lawmakers can't

Away the most fool proof, Solution nilsen, says is to
have AN sd card recording backup or hardwire surveillance cameras
to block criminals from blocking.
Speaker 2 (01:53:37):
Them uh, Hardwired, okay how long before they figure out
how to circumvent the hardwired? System right? Now they're jem
of The Wi. Fi so if you have a wireless camera.
System then you, know if you've got the smart burglar
at work, there then they can you, know get around that.
System the reason for having security, CAMERAS i think for most,
(01:53:59):
folks at least for me, anyway it's just the, deterrent
even if they're not, working the fact that you have
security cameras, there that would probably keep most burglars. Away
but because of the fact that everybody has security, cameras
now you, know they've had to come up with a
way to make sure that the security cameras don't. Work
(01:54:20):
and most of us do it on The Wi fi
system because hardwiring cameras is it's a. Project you, know
you need somebody to come in. Hardwire that system In
Wi fi is just a whole lot easier to do
and evidently a lot easier to. Trump i've always thought the,
sign just having the sign in your yard is got to.
Help but it's the same. Thing if everybody in the
(01:54:41):
neighborhood has a has a yard, sign you, know, security buy.
Whatever then at that point did the burglars just, say,
well you, know we're gonna have to take our. Chances
everybody seems to have a. Sign maybe all, right. Listen
