Speaker 2 (00:10):
The latest news, weather and traffic. It's more what matters
to you. From the John Morris Services studios. Well, happy Tuesday,
Jimmy Barrett. Here, it's time for Houston's Morning News. Among
our top stories as we get started this morning, Trump
meets with Japan's first female prime minister. The cartels are
threatening Americans vacationing in Los Cobos and coming up at
(00:30):
five oh eight sleeping with a light on, you'd get
you a heart attack.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
Details in the minutes ahead. You're on Houston's Morning News. First,
let's check out that morning drive. Hey Sky like, Hey, good.
Speaker 4 (00:41):
Morning, Jimmy. Not a good morning on the Katie Freeway. Ah,
this is a rough start. We've had some kind of
accident here. Washington Avenue is where the actual wreck is
a vehicle fire, a truck. All lanes are blocked and
dropped at midnight, and that tells me nothing good's happening
right here.
Speaker 5 (00:58):
Katie Freeway at six ten.
Speaker 4 (01:00):
Now they've shut down the rimps that come from the
correct the connector that comes down from the north Loop
sixty ten, so you can't get from the loop to
the KD end to go downtown. You also can't go
from the Galley uptown bel Air. You can't go up
that ramp that gets on the KD Freeway either. It
looks like they've shut it down on the inbound. Have
they shut it down on the westbound. I'm having trouble
(01:20):
seeing that.
Speaker 5 (01:21):
You let me know what you see.
Speaker 4 (01:23):
But I know we can't go up or down and
in and we can't go through the KD Freeway. We'll
recap it at five ten seven, one three two one
two tips skylike on the USA Rbresorts dot Com traffic
Center promo r KTRH top TATX Defenders twenty four hour

Speaker 3 (01:39):
For today, we're looking at cloudie skyes this morning, then
thunderstorms developed for the afternoon. With the high temperatures today
right about eighty eight. Then we start going in the
opposite direction. What's the call, friend comes through chilly tonight
and only about seventy if we're lucky for a high tomorrow.
We'll get the last on the forecast with Terry Smith

now for the news. Here's Fliff Saunders.
Speaker 6 (02:07):
Hey you, Jimmy five h two on KTRH. Good morning everyone.
Our top story.
Speaker 7 (02:11):
No enemy will ever even dream of threatening America's navy.
Speaker 1 (02:15):
There's no navy even close, not even close.
Speaker 6 (02:18):
President Trump, addressing American soldiers aboard the USS George Washington overnight.
His trip in Asia continues, the two countries signing a
critical rare earth mineral deal. The President also sent a
warning to Vladimir Putin after the Kremlins announcement of a
new invincible nuclear capable cruise missile. He called the announcement
(02:40):
quotes not appropriate. So does Russia really have this or
is the Kremlin just blowing smoke.
Speaker 5 (02:48):
They've proposed what they call flying Chernobyl, or a missile
powered by nuclear energy.
Speaker 8 (02:53):
It's a very very risky proposition, and I state it's
looked at this idea many years ago during the height
of the Cold War, and obviously decide against it because
it's a really bad idea.
Speaker 9 (03:01):
National security analyst Harry Cassianis says, we don't have the details,
just speculation, but the devils in the details.
Speaker 8 (03:08):
This isn't something that I think we should be worried about.
I think it's something we should be concerned about. The
Russians are spending hundreds of billions of dollars over the
next decades modernizing their nuclear forces.
Speaker 9 (03:18):
He says this upgrading is common as the US does
the same. Andre Parard News Radio seven forty KTRH.
Speaker 5 (03:24):
Something of more immediate concern.
Speaker 6 (03:26):
Reports from Mexico indicate that the cartels are threatening American
citizens and Los Cabos by posting handwritten Narco banners.
Speaker 10 (03:35):
This is very common.
Speaker 11 (03:36):
It's just a way to instill fear because the cartels
right now are very frustrated. They are losing billions and
billions of dollars.
Speaker 12 (03:45):
And I would tell you right now, until some of
this violence settles down, don't go to these places.
Speaker 6 (03:51):
Jason Jones with Newsmax says, right now, avoid going to
Mexico unless it's an area that is safe with extra security.
Closer to home, three men are are shod by ice
after a tense, hours long standoff in Pasadena that featured
anti ice rioters. We'll have more on what happened there
at five point thirty five oh four.
Speaker 13 (04:10):
Now.
Speaker 6 (04:10):
The federal government shut down in day twenty eight. Democrats
offer no solutions to the problem. They created only rhetoric.
With forty million people about to lose Snap benefits November first.
Speaker 14 (04:23):
If people end up going hungry because Snap benefits end
up drying up, this is just a preview of what
is going to happen.
Speaker 6 (04:30):
Texas Congress with a Jasmin Crockett on CNN. Senate Dems
have voted against reopening the government a dozen times, not
Senate Republicans. We are one week away from election day.
New York City Socialists or on mom Donnie forced to
admit that the woman he claimed was a victim of
the nine to eleven terror attack over being afraid to
wear her job was not his aunts.
Speaker 5 (04:53):
But he also tried to deflect for.
Speaker 7 (04:56):
The takeaway for my more than ten minute address about
Islamophobia in this race in the city to be the
question of my aunt tells you everything about Andrew Cuomo.
Speaker 6 (05:05):
Again not his aunt. The woman was actually his father's cousin.
That is one of several key races to be decided
in one week from now on. Donnie continues to lead
in the polls.
Speaker 15 (05:16):
Political analyst Jeff Crueer says Democrats should be careful what
they wish for.
Speaker 16 (05:20):
I think he is going to win. I think he's
going to move the party to the left because I
think there'll be more people following in his footsteps. And
I think it's maybe something they can succeed in New York.
But I don't think it's going to do well for
the Democrats nationally.
Speaker 15 (05:33):
I really don't elsewhere. There are two close governors races
in Virginia and New Jersey. If Republicans can win either one,
it could be a positive sign for the party in
next year's midterms. Corey Jolson, who's Radio seven forty ktr.
Speaker 6 (05:45):
H Voters across Texas are going to weigh in on
Prop three, to allow judges to deny bail for certain
violent offenders.
Speaker 5 (05:52):
Could be a game changer for law enforcement.
Speaker 17 (05:55):
The vast majority of all crimes are committed by a
very small select group of people. A violent offender can
creat mayhem, so toa sure that he's locked up and
not back out on the street again, it is going
to be a great thing.
Speaker 6 (06:07):
Former HPD Captain doctor Greg Freeman. Meantime, back to a
stricter gun law three years ago could come back to
haunt Texas Senator John Cornan. In twenty twenty six.
Speaker 18 (06:17):
Cornan is accused of betraying gun owners with legislation he
pushed that was meant to crack down on illegal gun purchases.
Gun rights activist Michael Cargill says it requires dealers to
send a report to the police when a sale gets
delayed due to a red flag.
Speaker 19 (06:32):
Those people that are delayed are put on a list
in the system that you cannot get out of that system.
Speaker 5 (06:38):
He calls it a de facto gun registry.
Speaker 18 (06:40):
Senator Cornon's opponents pounced on this bill, saying it became
the blueprint for Biden's gun control agenda.
Speaker 5 (06:46):
That's Kati Aiesis rex So.
Speaker 6 (06:48):

and the Houston Morning News team.
Speaker 3 (07:19):
Evidently sleeping with the lights on is not a good idea.
Five o seven is our time here in Houston's Morning News.
This is a sleep study that well, first of all,
let's start with this. How many of you are afraid
of the dark? No, I don't mean when you were
a kid still afraid of the dark. It would have
to there have to be something really spooky going on
(07:40):
for me to be afraid of the dark. But as
a kid, I remember being you know, I went through
a phase where I really had a hard time sleeping
in my room at night. You know, I keep imagining
things and you know, anyway, I think that's a pretty
difficult thing for kids to go through, and for a
lot of parents with kids. And this does not pertain
to kids, by the way, this study does not pertain
(08:00):
to kids, So don't worry about if you have a
night light in the room with the kids, that's not
a problem. But a study found that sleeping with a
nightlight on could be bad for your heart if you're
over the age of forty, and that people with the
darkest bedrooms have the lowest risk of a heart attack
or stroke. Study down the United Kingdom found sleeping with
a night light could literally kill you. Ninety thousand adults
(08:24):
wore sensors on the risk attract light levels around them.
The study specifically looked at how dark the bedrooms were
while they slept. These are only people over the age
of forty. The average age of participants in this was
sixty two. People who slept in total darkness were the
least likely to end up with heart issues. The ones
(08:44):
with the brightest bedrooms had a forty seven percent higher
heart attack risk, and people even in moderately bright rooms
had a twenty percent higher risk of having a heart attack.
Moderate would mean a night light or the TV that
you left on. Now I'm looking at this and I'm thinking, Okay,
what's going on in our room? Because Elizabeth likes a
(09:06):
lot of activity. She has she has the TV on,
not all night usually, uh, but she has the TV on.
There is a an air cleaner for the bedroom that
has like a little green light that's on all the time.
It radiates a little bit of light. There is there's
(09:27):
not a night light per se, but in the in
the bedroom, but there's a night light also in the
bathroom because you know, if I got to get up
at two, you know, one o'clock in the morning and
go pee or something. I gotta be able to find
my way without stuff in my big old toes. So
I'm probably a great, great candidate to either prove this
survey right or prove the survey wrong. So far, so good,
but yeah, better off without the uh. They also say cold,
(09:51):
you should sleep in the with with the chili, keep
the temperature down, and keep it as dark as you can.
Five ten Time for traffic and whether it's like you're
scared of the dark.
Speaker 4 (09:59):
Well, well, okay, two one, I'm scared of the dark.
They'll start with and two. Dude, the ghetto House is
like one hundred years old, so there are some there's
some kind of boogers in their period.
Speaker 5 (10:08):
I don't speaking and moaning and making noisies at nine.
Speaker 4 (10:11):
Yeah, I don't sleep in the I don't sleep in
the master bedroom either.
Speaker 5 (10:14):
It's a disco terry.
Speaker 4 (10:15):
Cover your ears, yeah, and I like to pee off
the porch too, so I sleep in the front.
Speaker 5 (10:20):
So okay, what you just keep your ears covered?
Speaker 20 (10:23):
All right?
Speaker 4 (10:24):
Anyway, that's the story of the Ghetto House. Katie Freeway.
All right, we got big trouble here, Katie. Nothing good's
happening here. This is iten inbound Katie Freeway at Washington.
It's all lanes block. This wreck happened at twelve something
in the morning. Who knows what. Oh, this was a
heavy truck accident. Okay, there we go.
Speaker 5 (10:41):
There was also fire and that's all lanes black. Now.
The thing is because I've dropped at twelve.
Speaker 4 (10:47):
I think it will pick up probably the next hour
or so, but they've shut it down. Katie Freeway completely
closed two ninety. Of course, your West Park, your usual
re routes. And also you can't go.
Speaker 5 (10:59):
Down the loop.
Speaker 4 (11:00):
If you can't come down from the Heids or Garden
Oaks and get on the ramp to go downtown, and
you can't go up from Mayerlander bel Air and go downtown,
just jump on the Southwest instead. Get around that business.
My secret hack. Don't tell anybody Terry is memorial, but
we'll keep that between us. We'll revisit that in ten minutes. Fortunately,
the rest of the freeways are rocking for now. Skywike

Terry Smith is here peeing off the porch. Weather won't
be around for the next couple of days. Not if
you're doing the first thing in the morning.
Speaker 2 (11:33):
Come on, no, yeah, sorry, I'm looking get a little
chilly around here for a couple of days.
Speaker 5 (11:40):
Yes, it's going to get things might get a little
shy in that cold weather, you know.
Speaker 21 (11:46):
Oh yeah, so nice start to our day. We got
a cold front on the way with some showers and thunderstorms.
We may have some stronger storms later today, some dusty winds,
perhaps even some hail with those storms.
Speaker 5 (12:02):
We'll be watching it. You need to watch it as well.
Speaker 21 (12:04):
There's a sixty percent chance of getting that rough weather
later on today. Now it's going to warm up even
warmer than yesterday, mid upper eighties and a few thundershowers,
like a thirty percent chance of sub raine around this
evening before we drought. Now it's going to be in
the fifties tonight, so definitely cooler.
Speaker 5 (12:23):
And then tomorrow dress warmly.
Speaker 21 (12:26):
We're not going to warm up much and it's going
to be a rather breezy day middubber sixties for highs,
but with the winds, it's going to feel a little
bit cooler than that. It does steadily warm up though
Thursday and Friday, near seventy Thursday and load to mid
seventies by Friday, and then Saturday we have another chance
of some rain, but right now it's only a thirty
percent chance of rain.
Speaker 3 (12:47):
Right now sixty eight at your official severe weather station,

also true for people that have trumped arrangement syndrome. Why
(13:18):
why are these people going to the rally? Turns out
it's got more to do with camaraderie than it does
with hate. As it turns out, at least according to
this guy, more than that story coming up next.
Speaker 4 (13:29):
It's like a tailgate party for haters.
Speaker 5 (13:31):
Well said Scott. I can't think of the better descriptions
time like.
Speaker 4 (13:34):
But they don't really you know, like they forget what
they're rooting for.
Speaker 3 (13:37):
By the way, the forg peing thing is at the

Speaker 4 (13:41):
Yeah yeah, pot you turned the light off and I'll

Speaker 5 (13:44):
Aorry, I got you. Let's go.
Speaker 4 (13:47):
Katie Freeway at Washington totally shut down inbound before you
even get to the restaurants. So that's a total shutdown.
In fact, it looks to me like they've shut it
down at Silver. Actually what I'm not seeing is their
shit be a long line of people. You know, you
can't get straight through on the feeder there, so h
I wouldn't do Hempstead Highway. Stick to your southwest, take

I've seen a lot of shots of President Trump on
his trip to Asia, not one shot wearing a crown
or dressed in velvet. And I have a sneaking suspicion.
I can't prove this, but I have a sneaking suspicion
that President Trump probably likes velvet. He probably likes velvet
a lot, but I don't see him worrying any anyway.
(15:41):
The No King's Protest? What is that about? Greg Guttfeld
talked about it with his panel on the show Last Night,
No Kings.
Speaker 4 (15:49):
Was Therapy, so Kat.
Speaker 23 (15:51):
A psychotherapist named Jonathan Albert called the No King's Protest
group therapy in the streets, blending emotional catharsis with activism,
which isn't surprising when you learn that the typical attendee
was an educated white woman in her forties. The expert
added that a lot of these people aren't happy with
their personal lives, and they're projecting their own anxiety and
(16:13):
anger onto others.
Speaker 5 (16:15):
Does this make sense to you?
Speaker 24 (16:18):
Yeah?
Speaker 25 (16:18):
Yeah, I mean go like have fun. I feel like
a lot of times when I live in New York,
you see protests all the time, and sometimes you see
people just like kind of having a great time.
Speaker 1 (16:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (16:30):
I saw.
Speaker 25 (16:30):
I watched a group of people on my Instagram story
as I was just like at home with my kid
over the weekend. I watched them go to the No
King's protest during the day, and then I at night
they went and saw an EDM show together.
Speaker 26 (16:43):
Yeah, and I'm like, this was just like a hang.
Speaker 25 (16:45):
It was like a day and everybody had a good time.
Speaker 4 (16:48):
Yeah.
Speaker 26 (16:48):
I'm against that.
Speaker 5 (16:49):
Yeah, I know y'are. Yeah.
Speaker 23 (16:51):
It is funny though, katsis she's home with her kid.
Speaker 5 (16:55):
That's kind of the issue, right.
Speaker 23 (16:56):
That like a lot of these people just don't have family,
and this is their family maybe.
Speaker 27 (17:01):
I mean they said the average person was in her forties.
Speaker 5 (17:04):
That seems young, Yeah, it does based on some of
the videos. They are pretty old.
Speaker 23 (17:08):
And then you have this correlation of a high level
of mental illness in that same group.
Speaker 27 (17:14):
I would have say, like, I definitely prefer this to
threatening ice agents are shooting people, which is you know,
so if you're gonna we have kind of pressure valves.
Pressure valves in democracies, and protesting is one of them. Like,
if this is what they want to do with their
lives on a beautiful saturday, I spent it with my
family and I watched football and that was a good day.
(17:35):
If this is what they want to do, it doesn't
really bother me, but it is.
Speaker 5 (17:37):
I don't know.
Speaker 27 (17:38):
They seem to be doing this a lot. They're already
hyping a new one. There's gonna be a third one.
I just don't get what you appeal.
Speaker 25 (17:44):
What if all these people I get the appeal now
they're all trying to get away from football. You're gonna
be at the next one too long, Saturday and Sunday, Monday, Thursday.
Speaker 26 (17:55):
It's like, give me a break.
Speaker 28 (17:58):
At a third point, had a certain.
Speaker 25 (18:01):
Point, it's enough, you know what.
Speaker 5 (18:05):
I just want to be with you.
Speaker 25 (18:06):
I want to be one of those people who enjoys it.
It's not fun to not enjoy it because it's on
in my.
Speaker 26 (18:10):
House all day. I would much rather enjoy it.
Speaker 3 (18:14):
Well, maybe you're very well for a no Kings rally
right now. Maybe that's what the Maybe that's what the
thing is. Maybe they don't want to watch sports. Their
husbands are all watching sports, so they're they're going to
a protest. Got to me thinking, though, if you ever protested?
Have you ever showed up at a protest? Have you
(18:36):
ever showed up at a protest? Let's make a question
of the day out of this one. You go to
the iHeart radio app KTRH, hit the talk back button
up to the thirty seconds first time. Where you're calling from?
Have you ever attended a protest? And what was the protest?
I think the last protest I tended was probably a
tea party event, and that's that's going backaways and mainly
because I was speaking at the event, not because I
(18:56):
was going to necessarily attend the event, although there are
a ton of people. So last protest that you attended
and what you were protesting either four or against five
twenty six, It's time to take a look at your
money as we check in this morning with the folks

right we've got some big races going on around the.
Country nothing nothing major going. On, WELL i shouldn't say.
That we have propositions that are very important for us
to show up and vote for next, Week but we
aren't electing a. Governor we do that the same year
we elect a. President but In virginia and In New,
jersey they. Do The republicans In virginia particularly have been
(34:33):
running behind pretty much the entire cycle election, cycle but
the race is getting closer by the day because The
democrats keep stepping in. It join us talk About Jeff.
Careeer he's a political analyst and. Commentator to, me it's
amazing that the race isn't even closer than what it.
Is LAST i, HEARD i think that the governor's race
(34:54):
was still a seven plus point split between The republican
and The.
Speaker 20 (34:58):
Democrat you're, Right, yeah The democrat leads by seven In,
virginia which is amazing considering the scandal with THE ag
candidate and the governor's pathetic performance IN i mean the
democrats pathetic performance in the governor's debate where she wouldn't
(35:18):
even look at. Win some seers and wouldn't even address the.
Speaker 5 (35:22):
ISSUE i, mean it was just.
Speaker 20 (35:24):
Embarrassing but you, know it is A democrat state and
they had an aberration last time where A republican, Won Glenn.
Youngkin but there are a lot of federal employees that
live In, virginia a lot of, bureaucrats a lot Of
democrat leaning, voters and.
Speaker 5 (35:44):
It's a tough state For.
Speaker 3 (35:45):
Republicans well didn't used to be so tough For republicans Of.
VIRGINIA i remember a time where it was a pretty
reliably read state despite the fact you have all Those
Northern Virginia. Democrats what has gone? Wrong there must be
other areas of the state Where democrats been able to
catch up in Surpassed republicans, because LIKE i, said it
wasn't always a.
Speaker 5 (36:04):
Bluestate, no you're, RIGHT.
Speaker 20 (36:06):
I, mean it just has been trending that way more
and more Toward democrats as the bureaucracy has, grown and
you've had many more federal employees move Into. Virginia and
and maybe he can Falter republicans for not you, know
doing a better job and fielding, candidates but they did
(36:27):
a great job With Glenn youngkin and they want so
it shows you it can be. DONE i, mean AND
i think he has been a good, governor AND i
think when Some sears is a good lieutenant, governor she's
a great. Candidate, unfortunately they they're behind right. Now SO
i do think the age is going to be A.
REPUBLICAN i think this this Horrible democrat candidate who talked
(36:50):
about murdering The house speaker is not going to. Win
AND i think The republican will prevail. There but the
question is what's going to happen in this cover AND i,
think unfortunately the odds are that This democrat is still
the odds on favor to.
Speaker 5 (37:05):
Win welles Spam.
Speaker 13 (37:06):
Berger.
Speaker 3 (37:07):
Yeah the lieutenant governor's race is interesting to me too
Because John, reid the guy who he took over for
me AT wrva In richmond WHEN i came here To,
houston and then now he's not doing the morning show In,
richmond name more because he ran for lieutenant. Governor does
he have a prayer of winning at this.
Speaker 10 (37:21):
Point i'm hearing that he.
Speaker 20 (37:24):
DOES i, Mean i'm hearing that that race is also you,
know within six seven, points and it's a possibility for you,
know The republicans to pull that. OUT i, mean momentum
matters so much in politics as to which candidate has
a momentum towards the end of the, race and sometimes
these last polls don't really reflect, that and you have
(37:46):
sort of a surge in one direction or. Another And
i'll be interested to, see you, know as we get
a little bit, closer you know how these polls are,
changing because there has been a little bit of a
movement Toward Earl sears within.
Speaker 33 (38:00):
The past few.
Speaker 20 (38:01):
WEEKS i, mean a race that was maybe eleven points
is now at. Seven and if that trend continues That
i'm gonna feel better for you, Know lieutenant governor candidate as.
Speaker 3 (38:12):
Well on The republican, Side, YEAH i want to ask
you About New York. City i've already given up On
New York, city but i want to quickly ask quickly
ask you Because i'm already at the. TIME i want
to quickly ask you about the race In New. Jersey
the same kind of a situation The republican candidate's he's run,
before he's come fairly close, before he's fairly close now
but hasn't been able to get over the. Hump will
(38:32):
this be any different this?
Speaker 20 (38:33):
ELECTION i think that the problems have a better chance
of winning A New jersey, because as you, say you
ran four years, ago came very very. Close the governor
there did not exactly set the world on, fire The democrat.
Governor so it's an environment Where republicans have in the
past elected A. Republican Remember Chris christy was their. Governor
(38:55):
trump did not lose a state by a huge amount To.
Harris SO i think there's a chance That cinderelli could
win In New. Jersey and again you have A democratic
candidates flawed AND i don't think has run a great,
race AND i think from every indication he has run
a very good. Race SO i think The republican chances
(39:16):
In New jersey are a little bit higher Than.
Speaker 10 (39:17):
VIRGINIA i guess.

I would not.
Speaker 5 (55:00):
How dangerous do you? Think, it is.
Speaker 10 (55:04):
Well you have to look at the totality what's Taking
place in.
Speaker 38 (55:06):
Mexico right now the Pressure By the united states government
and the Pressure by the mexican government upon these cartels is.
Unprecedented RIGHT now and i can tell you that as
somebody that's in Better with, the mexican, forces.
Speaker 10 (55:18):
Not, once not twice but three.
Speaker 38 (55:19):
Times this year what is happening right now is they're
putting pressure. On these cartels they have lost billions of
dollars billions in the lack, of human smuggling human trafficking
along with fentanyl and other drugs crossing their northern Border
Into the united states and so as they have lost a,
lot of money their extortions, have gone up and this is.
Speaker 10 (55:42):
Part, of that now when you talk about these cartel.
Speaker 38 (55:46):
Mantras, or these banners these THREATS, against the us what
you need to know is that this is all a part.
Of their, frustration they're angry and they. Should be angry
they have heard A lot, of mexican citizens they have
heard A lot, of american citizens and now they're the
best of the best in the world are. Coming for
them and this is part of that pushback as they
try to fight their way, out of this and.
Speaker 3 (56:07):
They're not going to be able to knowing what they
do however. For a living these are, not idle threats
correct they Intend.
Speaker 5 (56:14):
To, have oh, well you know.
Speaker 10 (56:16):
You never know. That's the problem that's.
Speaker 38 (56:19):
The real, issue you know these mantras are a propaganda
tool and everyone you know needs. To understand that but
you never know what's going to happen, with these individuals
and as they.
Speaker 10 (56:28):
Fracture and as.
Speaker 38 (56:29):
They break, Down you Know cabos and lucas as, you're
talking about supposedly under the control of a new Cell Known,
as lost chapezas which is Basically Part, of cartel holisco
new generation most Violent cartail in mexico and Part of.
Speaker 10 (56:43):
The sinaloa cartel so.
Speaker 38 (56:46):
That's the issue, you don't know and when these cartels
fight like they are but then also feel, this external
pressure you never know what's going, to happen next and
so when, that's taking place you got to listen to.
What they say whether you want to believe it or,
whether you don't. It doesn't matter they're just in a
bad place right now based on everything. That's taking place,
and that's why to be very frank, you Asked me
(57:07):
should americans go and my, answer is no not with
everything going on the.
Speaker 5 (57:10):
Way they are would you say that for the entire
country Or Just For.
Speaker 10 (57:13):
Cabo, san lucas No just for, cabo right now you
know other, AREAS you know i would.
Speaker 5 (57:18):
NOT say that i.
Speaker 10 (57:19):
Am very, IMPRESSED and look i want to.
Speaker 38 (57:21):

the shinbaum administration.
Speaker 10 (57:35):
And What we, call phase one what they have accomplished.
Speaker 38 (57:37):
In the pressure they're putting on these cartels Working With,
the united states and they have done amazing work and
your audience needs.
Speaker 10 (57:44):
TO know, that i mean we're talking about.
Speaker 38 (57:45):
Over fifteen hundred Mega, labs in mexico taking down thirty,
four thousand apprehensions the seizure of two hundred and eighty
three point five. Tons of drugs this is in less.
Than ONE year and i could go. On and on

Speaker 10 (58:08):

Speaker 38 (58:09):
Government is doing but, when that happens we see the
one crime area Going. Up in mexico everything else everyone
needs to know is, dropping with crime but one, is
going up and. That's the extortions when you have the
overlay of these banners, IN certain areas i think you
do need to take the heed of the warning that's.

rhetoric increases particularly from democratic. Leaders and others you Just
Had a howard university journalism professor asking what are you
prepared to burn down and telling people that they should
follow The Image, of john brown. Who massacred people that's
(01:07:37):
the level of rhetoric that many of these individuals are
reading in their little, siloed echo chambers and a certain
percentage of them. Will be triggered and the concern here
is that you're not going to always have someone like
this that goes to TikTok and tries to. Hire an
assassin you're going to have people like the Person Who
(01:07:58):
killed charlie kirk who's just going to. Do it themselves
and this brings us back to. This rage rhetoric you
have politicians around the country trying to ride this wave
of rage, back into power and it's going to. Get
Someone killed and i'm not too sure how many times
(01:08:18):
many of us have to, object to this how many
attempted assassinations have to occur before these leaders develop a
modicum of.
Speaker 3 (01:08:26):
Concern and restraint i'm beginning to think there is no.
Limit for them for people who think that there are
People like a pambondi who, Deserve to die they're not
going to tone down the, rhetoric for anybody and there
will be more people who will be injured and or
killed as a. Result of this the only thing you,
(01:08:48):
can do is when you have people who are making these,
kinds of statements make them at least civilly liable for,
what they're saying especially if harm does end up coming
to the person that They have threatened sack forty time for.

Speaker 3 (01:30:47):
On gustin's, morning news all right let's Let's Let's talk
TO andy kahn about i know a proposition that. Is very,
very important you know there are seventeen different. Propositions on
the ballot proposition three is of the utmost concern. To
our next guest he's a crime stoppers, has been for.
Eons as you know it is a constitutional medment requiring
(01:31:08):
the denial of. Bail under certain circumstances the person's accused
of certain offenses. Punishable, as, a felony okay well let's
get into, What, That means specifically andy what, does that
specifically mean because that's kind of a generic. Ballad, language,
They're using.
Speaker 36 (01:31:25):
Yeah well harris conty Is ground zero for prop. Three
for obvious reasons let me give. You a classic example
you might recall a camp it was sexually assaulted and.
Murdered by two defendants when the, two defendants were charged the,
judge granted a bond albeit, a very high bond and, there,
(01:31:48):
was public outrage golore and we, had to. Tell everybody
guess what the judge had no choice but. To issue,
a bond, prop three very simplistically will give judges discretion
not to grant bond to defendant's charge with certain violent
(01:32:09):
crimes when prosecutors make a motion that the defendant is,
a public safety risk a, flight not to reappear and
or as a threat to public safety.
Speaker 10 (01:32:21):
And or the victim.
Speaker 36 (01:32:22):
It's really that simple it's giving discretion instead of allowing
judges to have, an excuse by saying we. Don't have
a choice we have. To, give A bond, now passing
prop three you, will have?
Speaker 5 (01:32:37):
A choice all right is that the most common, excuse
that they, give by the way that they. Don't have, A,
choice pretty, much yeah.
Speaker 36 (01:32:44):
You, know pretty much hey.
Speaker 5 (01:32:46):
It's in the constitution we have.
Speaker 36 (01:32:48):
To give a bond the only authense a judge cannot,
grant a bond to and, that's is capital murder and
that's only when the state. Is seeking the deathfinitally so
we've added about six violent offenses that, will allow judicial
DISCRETION and, THAT'S really i think i truly believe this
(01:33:09):
is a win Win for. Everybody PASSING prop three and
i can go case after case and case telling. You
Why It's needed but harris county with is the impetus.
Forgetting The ballot language And i'm hoping that texas voters
will agree with us because the bottom line is they're
the ones who are going to make the decision whether.
(01:33:31):
Judges should, have, discretion.
Speaker 5 (01:33:32):
So true howld how?
Speaker 32 (01:33:34):
Is?
Speaker 3 (01:33:34):
The ballot proposal warder do? You have any idea is
it one of those things both know for yes?
Speaker 5 (01:33:38):
Or yes for no or is? It pretty?
Speaker 36 (01:33:40):
Straight up pretty much you got two choices either you're for.
It or against, it and you know some of the opposition.
It's kind, of, interesting they're like oh it's going to,
fill Up the, jails and i'm like it's not. Gonna
be a fantasy let's. Be real right here this is
only for offenders that are charged with the most egregious
(01:34:00):
offenses and ONLY WHEN the state i eve prosecutors are
of the perspective that this particular defendant is. A public
safety risk seems.
Speaker 5 (01:34:12):
Very simple to be i'll tell you what.
Speaker 10 (01:34:13):
THIS had, this head i mean you want to.
Speaker 36 (01:34:16):
Talk about bipartisan support this had bipartisan Support in both
The house and the senate. By an overwhelming maturity and that's.
