President Trump hit the mean streets of DC with law
enforcement last night. By the way, crime in the nation's
capital is down more than thirty percent since the Trump takeover.

People that haven't gone to a restaurant in literally in
four years, and they said, you know what you've done
is it's unprecedented.

Speaker 6 (02:13):
The effort includes thousands of National Guard troops and the
help of six Republican states. Another win for Trump is
the New York Court of Appeals tosses out the five
hundred million dollar fine in State Attorney General Letitia James's
civil suit against him, the judges determining it was unconstitutional.

It was unbelievable they made him put up that bond. Unprecedented, unconstitutional,
and it was not legal. And finally the president is seeing.

Justice and is US Attorney General Pam Bondi talking to
KTRH to Sean Hennity. Meantime, another Joe Biden ade testified
behind closed doors for the House Oversight Committee about the
former president's cognitive fitness.

Ian SAMs, who was the White House spokesperson for a
sig significant amount of Joe Biden Thomas President, interacted with
him two times, two times.

Committee Chair James Comer with that. And remember when Elon
Musk threatened to start a third Party over Trump's Big
Beautiful Bill, Well, so much for that.

Weeks after the world's richest man announced plans to form
what he called the America Party. He's now reportedly backing
off and looking to maintain ties to Vice President jd Vance.
Republican national committeeman Robin Armstrong says Musk probably saw the
writing on the wall.

He's never going to get Democrats to support him. I
think he's best off within the Republican Party, and we
have lots of disagreements, lots of different factions, but I
think we're going to light it out in the primary
and then we'll see who wins.

Musk was vocal about his opposition to the Big Beautiful
Bill because it had too much government spending, but has
since softened his rhetoric against President Trump and Republicans. Corey Jolson,

California Governor Gavin Newsom, suffering from Trump derangement syndrome, signing
legislation that would give five more seats to Democrats in
Congress in response to Texas Republican's new map, and despite
allegations of vote trading and even bribery, Newsom continues his
retaliation against Texas. But will voters support it?

They firmly believe the voters are going to see this
for what it is, which is a blatant, corrupt power
grab by a party that already overwhelmingly controls the politics
in California.

Speaker 6 (04:38):
Steve Williams with the Los Angeles GOP says there were
drawing of California's maps took place behind closed doors. He
doesn't think this will get done. When all is settled.
The full Texas Senate could vote on the new maps
here today after it passed through committee yesterday. One of
the Democrats at risk, houston 'sal Green, is complaining very disappointing.

They have merged these two districts that have sent African
Americans to Congress, and they made them one district.

State Representative Briscoe Caine has filed to run for Green's

former House Speaker Date Feelin announces he will not run

Gabadan Kerrville announcing additional funding to help rebuild homes in
areas ravaged by the flood on July fourth, and my.

Experience as governor, I've never seen a committee or a
foundation respond faster at literally getting the resources donated to
the people who needed the most. The State House yesterday
passed a full package of flood relief and prevention bills.
Closer to Ustin, Local TV reports his Harris County is
looking into one hundred foot underground tunnels to help.

Well Scott Mike said, Cracker Barrel makes it feel like
he's on the seide of the Walton. So okay, I
get I get it. Five oh seven our time here
in Houston's Morning News. All right, we did a Question
of the Day on this weeks ago when the news
first came out that Cracker Barrell was doing a rebrand,
and as I recall, you didn't like it very much,

(07:39):
but nobody really had a good reason for it other
than here's the word change. Why you want to change it.
What's wrong with cracker Barrel. We love it the way
it is. Don't be changing it. The problem is you
have a new ceo. Every new CEO made this comment before,

(08:01):
feels like they have to put their mark on the brand, right,
they have to leave their mark. They have to be
the ones to come in. I'm going to fix what's
wrong with this place. And of course the customers don't
think there's anything wrong with this place because there is
no other place like it, but they have seen a
slip in sails. So what they're evidently trying to do

(08:24):
with this rebrand. We'll see if it works or it
doesn't work. But what they're trying to do with the
rebrand is to bring in a younger crowd. They're trying
to make it a more friendly place. I guess for
lack of a better term. But my painting, my painting,
the wall's white. Yeah, it's too dark, it's too dark
and moody. We need to lighten up the decor. Yeah

that old timey sign out front that's got the old
man and the cracker barrel on it. Yeah, take the
old man and the cracker barrel off and we'll just
have cracker barrel. Well it's you know, it's well, this
sign's always been that way. No, it hasn't always actually
been that way when Cracker Barrel first started. The sign
that they're putting up now is the sign that they
had when they first opened up. It just said cracker barrel.

It didn't have a barrel on it, and it didn't
have a man on it. And they didn't have those
things until nineteen seventy seven, which is a long time ago.
I get that it's a long time ago, but there
was a time when they didn't have those things. They've
added a few new things to the menu, but the
favorite things are still there. The store is still there.
They may be putting a little different merchandise in there
to appeal to a slightly different crowd. And they didn't

change the name. If they were really woke, don't you
think they would probably change the name. They'd take out
the get rid of the cracker barrel thing all in
its entirety, for fear that somebody would associate that with crackers,
you know, which is a Southern term in some cases
of endearment, but in other cases of you know, what
black people would call white people in the South crackers

because of the color of the crackers. We're in the barrels. So,
I mean, I don't think it's got anything to do
with woke, is what I'm saying. I think it's just
their attempt to try to rebrind. Like I said, doesn't
mean it's gonna be successful, doesn't mean you'll like it.
But right now all this, I'm not going to go
there anymore because they're woke. It's got nothing to do.
I don't believe with woke. Five to ten time for

are selling puppies by the side of the road. I've

at a point where somebody thinks it's time to do

It is illegal to sell animals this way in Harris County,
and in September a new law allows any in the
state to end animal sales in open areas. How big
of a problem are roadside sales.

It is so impactful on our animal overpopulation crisis.

Speaker 22 (17:12):
Sarah Mills, senior director at Houston pet Said, a nonprofit
that works to end homelessness and suffering of companion animals, explains,
reputable breeders limit litters, allow buyers to meet the parents,
and often have returned policies.

Speaker 23 (17:27):
These roadside sales are one and done. You buy them,
you're probably never seeing mom and dad. They're having multiple litters,
and they're selling to people as impulse purchases, and they're
selling them at six weeks, which is entirely too young.
We have seen an influx of designer breeds into rescues,
such as French bulldogs that are genetically not healthy, and

so the breeders are no longer willing to keep them.
An ethical breeder would stop breeding that pair. Rosie, my
Golden Doodle, was posted on Facebook for free to a
loving home.

Rosie was purchased from a backyard breeder on the side
of a road by a family that quickly realized they
were in over their head.

Speaker 23 (18:14):
I was concerned that she would end up in the wrong.

Speaker 22 (18:16):
Hand Sarah rescued her from that family. Rosie is now
the newest member of the Mills Clan. Reiterating Houston pet
sad sentiment. At the state level is Shelby Buboski, Executive
director of Texas Humane Legislation Network, an organization that promotes
the humane treatment of animals through legislation, education and advocacy.

We are in such an overpopulation crisis. This is one
way to stop that drip, drip drip, and to really
give our law enforcement tools on how to stop it.

If you come across a roadside sale taking place, whether
it be in Harris County or a county that is
proposing to pass this law, what should you do?

Take pictures, make sure you get the license plate. Call
three one one nine one one. If they're about to
cause an accident, report it and get your local city
council member or your commissioner.

These tickets need to be enforced.

Enforcement can be tough, as we learned, sellers move quickly.

Harris County Sheriff's Office does conduct stings and will issue
citations and warnings. Thirteen have been issued since January twenty

know anything about the animal, or how the animal was
cared for, or the you know, the breeding that went

and this will be Powell's last Jackson Hole speech before
his current term as chair ends in May. Stocks are higher,

More judicial obstruction to the Trump agenda.

We totally expected an adverse ruling, and we also knew
we were going to immediately appeal and get that decision state,
so we'll ultimately be successful in this.

It's not going to stop our resolve. Florida Governor Ron
DeSantis there as a federal judge orders alligator alcatrast to
stop expanding in stop to bringing in more illegal aliens. Meantime,
a local TV station here in Houston reports that at
least ten people with suspense gang ties were arrested during
an investigation into home invasions in the area. They're from

the countries of Mexico, Honduras in Colombia. They have gang ties.
At least three of them are here illegally. The Trump
DHS is now reaching over forty million Americans on social
media every week. That means they don't need to mainstream
media anymore right parts John Bender says the strategy is
to go straight to the people.

That has generated hundreds of thousands of impressions and views
without ever having to get the media to pick up
the story.

Because DHS no.

Longer needs the media to pick up these stories, they

He says Americans today are relying less and less on

in Houston's morning News, We're joined by doctor Robin Armstrong,
RMC committee man. Good morning to you, sir. I'm trying
to think of the last successful brand new party, and
I want to say it was probably the Republican Party.

Speaker 11 (35:24):
Absolutely, absolutely, led by Abraham Lincoln, yep, you know, led
by with the goal of ending slavery. Abolishing slavery. That's
how the party was started in the state of Texas
and all sort of America. And absolutely, so it's just
not going to be successful any longer. We have a
two party system, a strong two party system. The way
that Elon Musk could have a significant impact is to

work within the Republican Party. Has differences with anything that's
going on. So it's exciting that Trump Donald Trump's winning.
A Republican Party is winning partially because the Democrat Party
is self constructing, and so we're doing great things in
a Republican Party and we're excited.

Well, let me let me ask you this. Why is
it that we can't have more than two parties? Why
why have we become a two party system?

Speaker 11 (36:12):
Is it?

Speaker 4 (36:12):
Is it because you know, I look at European countries
where they have multiple political parties and they have divided
government and they have to build coalitions in order to
have anybody in charge of anything. Is that the biggest
problem with having a multi party system?

Speaker 11 (36:26):
Well, no, I don't think there's anything wrong with it.
I mean, I think in that parliamentary system where they
have the different parties coalesced to form the prime minister,
they elect the prime minister as the leader. I think here,
because we elect the president by a popular vote with
an electoral college, I think it makes it very difficult.
And it's just American tradition. You know that that we

(36:47):
have a two party system, you know, back when when
it was first started, when Thomas Jefferson was fighting with
Alexander Hamilton and and and and those guys John Adams,
and so I think it just started as a two
party system. It's held that way. It's been very hard
for another person to break through. And I think it's
just tradition. And I think it's also just kind of
how we have allied aligned ourselves over time, and so

(37:10):
I don't think that's going to be changing anytime soon.
I think it's a good system. It works well. You know.
I think there are certainly parties. The last time we
had one that had an impact with Ross Perrot, and
we ended up with many years of Bill Clinton and
Hillary Clinton after that. So the result of that was bad.
And so I think extra parties, know, let's stay away

(37:32):
from that work within the Republican or Democrat party, preferably
the Republican Party and try to change the system that way.

Speaker 4 (37:39):
Okay, before I let you go, I'd like to get
your thoughts on the whole redistricting thing. Governor Gavin Newsom
estate managed to ran through his proposal to claw back
five seats, five additional Democrat seats in California to offset
what we did here in Texas. Do you see, of course,
we don't know if the voters of California are going
to prove it, but assuming that they do, you see

(38:00):
the possibility of a redistricting war, and if so, it
looks like the Republicans would win that one if they
can get the governors from these red states to go
along with redistricting.

Speaker 11 (38:09):
Absolutely, we have a sizable advantage. In fact, that happened
to be at an RNC meeting now on the East
Coast in Atlanta, and we are actually Ohio is going
to redistrict, Missouri is going to redistrict. There's some other
states looking at it as well, So we have a
sizeable advantage if there is a redistricting war. I don't
believe that California is going to be able to do
if they have to change their constitution. I don't believe

(38:31):
they're going to get the numbers of votes that they need.
In fact, there is an organization that helped form a
Democrat who helped form the Independent Commission, who is putting
millions of dollars against this effort, and so I don't
believe they're going to be able to get past the
finish line. I think this is a ploy in its
theater for Gavin Newsom running for president. That's all he's doing.
I don't think they're going to get this through. I

(38:52):
don't think they're even going to be able to redistrict
because of their constitution in California. And so I think
we're going to be Okay, Texas is doing a great thing.
We're leading the country in this, and I'm excited that
Galvezon County had a lot to do with that, and
so there's certainly a long backstory to that as well,
and so so yeah, we had a lot to do
with redistricting what's going on, and so we're happy to

(39:13):
be leading Texas and actually leading the Texas is leading
in the country in that effort.
